- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in scripture and relevant for today.
- 0:10May. 4th Contentment over clutter.
- 0:12It is easy to believe the lie that more will finally make you
- 0:15happy. More money, more attention, more
- 0:18beauty, more success, more followers, more control.
- 0:22But what if more without peace only gives you a louder kind of
- 0:25emptiness? Proverbs chapter 15 verses 16 to
- 0:3017 says, better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great
- 0:34treasure and trouble with it. Better is a meal of vegetables
- 0:38where love is than a fattened ox and hatred with it.
- 0:41First Corinthians chapter 6, verse 19 asks, Do you not know
- 0:46that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you,
- 0:50whom you have received from God? And in that same chapter, Paul
- 0:54calls believers to flee sexual immorality and honor God with
- 0:58their bodies. These verses remind us that life
- 1:01is not measured by how much you have, how much people admire
- 1:05you, or how much pleasure you can chase.
- 1:08A simple life with God's peace is better than a full life
- 1:11filled with trouble. A small table with love is
- 1:15better than abundance surrounded by hatred.
- 1:18A body surrendered to God is better than a life controlled by
- 1:22pressure, appetite or insecurity.
- 1:25This speaks directly to the world many of us live in.
- 1:29You are constantly told to compare yourself, expose
- 1:31yourself, upgrade yourself, and satisfy yourself.
- 1:35But God calls you something holy.
- 1:37Your body is not worthless. Your choices are not
- 1:40meaningless. Your relationships are not
- 1:43casual to Him. You belong to Christ.
- 1:46Contentment does not mean you stop dreaming.
- 1:48It means you stop letting temporary things define your
- 1:51worth. You can enjoy what God gives
- 1:54without worshipping it. You can desire good things
- 1:57without being controlled by them.
- 1:59You can choose purity, love, and peace even when the world around
- 2:03you chooses compromise. Let's pray, Heavenly Father,
- 2:07free my heart from chasing things that cannot satisfy me.
- 2:11Teach me to value peace, love, purity, and Your presence more
- 2:15than popularity, possessions, or pleasure.
- 2:18Help me honor You with my body, my relationships, and my
- 2:21choices. Give me contentment that is
- 2:24rooted in You and make my life simple, strong and full of Your
- 2:27peace in Jesus name, Amen. What if the battles hitting your
- 2:31family are not random and your home can become a place where
- 2:35darkness loses every right to stay?

- 3:39Proverbs chapter 15, verses 16 to 17 World English Bible.
- 3:45Better is little with the fear of Yahweh than great treasure
- 3:48with trouble. Better is a dinner of herbs
- 3:51where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
- 3:54First Corinthians chapters 5 to 6 World English Bible It is
- 3:59actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and
- 4:03such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles.
- 4:07That one has his father's wife. You are arrogant and didn't
- 4:11mourn instead that he who had done this deed might be removed
- 4:15from among you. For I most certainly, as being
- 4:18absent in body, but present in spirit, have already, as though
- 4:22I were present, judged Him who has done this thing in the name
- 4:26of our Lord Jesus Christ. When you are gathered together
- 4:29with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, you
- 4:33are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the
- 4:36flesh, that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord
- 4:40Jesus. Your boasting is not good.
- 4:43Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?
- 4:46Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as
- 4:49you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover
- 4:53has been sacrificed in our place.
- 4:56Therefore let's keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with
- 5:00the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the
- 5:02unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
- 5:06I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual
- 5:09sinners, yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this
- 5:13world, or with the covetous and extortionists, or with
- 5:17idolaters. For then you would have to leave
- 5:20the world. But as it is, I wrote to you not
- 5:23to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual
- 5:26Sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a
- 5:30drunkard, or an extortionist. Don't even eat with such a
- 5:34person. For what do I have to do with
- 5:36also judging those who are outside?
- 5:38Don't you judge those who are within, but those who are
- 5:41outside, God judges. Put away the wicked man from
- 5:45among yourselves. Dare any of you having a matter
- 5:49against his neighbor go to law before the unrighteous, and not
- 5:52before the Saints? Don't you know that the Saints
- 5:55will judge the world? And if the world is judged by
- 5:58you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
- 6:02Don't you know that we will judge angels?
- 6:05How much more things that pertain to this life?
- 6:08If then you have to judge things pertaining to this life, do you
- 6:11set them to judge who are of no account in the assembly?
- 6:15I say this to move you to shame. Isn't there even one wise man
- 6:19among you who would be able to decide between his brothers?
- 6:22But brother goes to law with brother, and that before
- 6:25unbelievers. Therefore it is already
- 6:28altogether a defect in you that you have lawsuits one with
- 6:31another. Why not rather be wronged?
- 6:34Why not rather be defrauded? No, but you yourselves do wrong
- 6:38and defraud, and that against your brothers.
- 6:41Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit
- 6:43God's Kingdom? Don't be deceived.
- 6:47Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
- 6:50nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor
- 6:54covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists,
- 6:59We'll inherit God's Kingdom. Some of you were such, but you
- 7:03were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified
- 7:06in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.
- 7:10All things are lawful for me, but not all things are
- 7:13expedient. All things are lawful for me,
- 7:16but I will not be brought under the power of anything.
- 7:20Foods for the belly, and the belly for foods, but God will
- 7:23bring to nothing both it and them.
- 7:25But the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord,
- 7:29and the Lord for the body. Now God raised up the Lord, and
- 7:33will also raise us up by His power.
- 7:36Don't you know that your bodies are members of Christ?
- 7:39Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of
- 7:42a prostitute? May it never be.
- 7:45Or don't you know that he who is joined to a prostitute is 1
- 7:48body? For the two he says will become
- 7:51one flesh, but he who is joined to the Lord is 1 Spirit Flee
- 7:55sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is
- 7:59outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins
- 8:03against his own body. Or don't you know that your body
- 8:07is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have
- 8:10from God? You are not your own, for you
- 8:13were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your
- 8:16body and in your spirit, which are gods.
