Denver Nuggets faced the Portland Trail Blazers at Memorial Coliseum in Portland for game six of the NBA Western Conference Semifinals on May 2, 1977.

And Portland led the best of seven series three games to two.

Denver featured three future Hall of Famers in Bobby Jones, David Thompson, and Dan Issell.

They were coached by the legendary Larry Brown and had finished in first place in the Midwest Division with a 50-32 record.

The Nuggets were looking to return to the finals after losing the ABA Championship in 1976 to the New York Nets.

Portland was coached by another legend, Jack Ramsey. This was the first playoff appearance in the Trail Blazers history.
