- Lucas: Hola Luna, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: Hey Lucas! So glad to be here. You know, I've been practicing my numbers from last episode. Lucas: That's great! Counting from cero to diez is a big step. Today, let's build on that by learning how to talk about more than one thing. Luna: Oh, you mean plurals? I've heard Spanish plurals are pretty straightforward. Lucas: They are. Most of the time, you just add an -s to the end of a word. Like libro becomes libros. Luna: So libro is a book, and libros is books? Lucas: Exactly. Let's say it together: el libro, los libros. Luna: El libro, los libros. That feels natural. Lucas: Now for words that end in a consonant, like profesor, we add -es. So profesor becomes profesores. Luna: So el profesor is the teacher, and los profesores is the teachers. El profesor, los profesores. Lucas: Perfect. And for words ending in a vowel, like casa, we just add -s: casa, casas. Luna: La casa, las casas. Got it. So it's about the ending. Lucas: Yes. Let's practice with a few. I'll say the singular, and you give me the plural. El libro. Luna: Los libros. Lucas: La casa. Luna: Las casas. Lucas: El profesor. Luna: Los profesores. That was smooth! Lucas: You're getting the hang of it. Now let's imagine we're in a classroom. ¿Dónde están los libros? Luna: Ah, that means 'Where are the books?' So I'd answer: Los libros están en la mesa. The books are on the table. Lucas: Excellent use of the plural! And for profesores: Los profesores están en la escuela. Luna: The teachers are at school. I love how easy that was. Lucas: See? Once you know the pattern, you can make many words plural. Let's do one more: la flor. Luna: Las flores. But that adds -es even though it ends in r? No, flor ends in r, so -es. Lucas: Correct. Flor, flores. You're a plural pro now. Luna: Thanks! I feel like I can already use these in conversations. Lucas: Speaking of conversations, if Fexingo is helping you make real progress with Spanish, you can support the show so we keep it ad-free. It means a lot to us.
