- 0:05Speaker 1: Listener discretion is advised. According to the National Organization for Women,
- 0:12Speaker 1: and estimated, sixty three percent of sexual assault cases go unreported,
- 0:17Speaker 1: though the number is likely much higher. In eight out
- 0:21Speaker 1: of ten rape cases, the victim knew the perpetrator, and
- 0:24Speaker 1: in about half of the cases the perpetrator was an
- 0:27Speaker 1: intimate partner. Fifteen percent were perpetrated by a stranger. That
- 0:33Speaker 1: number is slightly less when the crime studied is homicide.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Although specific data for virtually every category is significantly lacking,
- 0:44Speaker 1: for female sex workers, these numbers increase exponentially and the
- 0:49Speaker 1: data points vary considerably. Sex workers have a forty five
- 0:54Speaker 1: to seventy five percent chance of experiencing sexual violence on
- 0:58Speaker 1: the job, according to the Sex Workers Project, with the
- 1:02Speaker 1: chances increasing for those who work the streets as opposed
- 1:06Speaker 1: to what's referred to as indoor work, or that which
- 1:10Speaker 1: is solicited and closed spaces. Rape and sexual assault are
- 1:15Speaker 1: far from the only dangers that sex workers face. In
- 1:19Speaker 1: a study titled sex Work Related Homicides Insights from the
- 1:23Speaker 1: National Violent Death Reporting System twenty twelve to twenty twenty,
- 1:28Speaker 1: published in November of twenty twenty three, out of three
- 1:31Speaker 1: hundred and twenty one sex worker homicides studied, fifty four
- 1:35Speaker 1: percent were females. Among those, the perpetrator of the homicide
- 1:40Speaker 1: was a client fifty four percent of the time. This
- 1:43Speaker 1: means that generally speaking, female sex workers are more often
- 1:48Speaker 1: killed by strangers than victims who are not sex workers.
- 1:52Speaker 1: There is no clear cut data that analyzes the prevalence
- 1:56Speaker 1: of sex workers being the victims of serial killers. In fact,
- 2:00Speaker 1: in a profession that is well known for being victimized
- 2:03Speaker 1: by those whose motive is the actual murder itself, the
- 2:07Speaker 1: lack of statistical information is confounding. Throughout history, sex workers
- 2:13Speaker 1: have been the target of serial killers for a multitude
- 2:16Speaker 1: of reasons, from the societal stigma attached to the work
- 2:20Speaker 1: and lack of resources, to their often lack of consistency
- 2:25Speaker 1: keeping in touch with family members, and simply the work
- 2:29Speaker 1: setting itself, and that fact hasn't changed in modern times.
- 2:34Speaker 1: In twenty twenty two, twenty four year old Felicia Johnson
- 2:38Speaker 1: was targeted by a client, a disturbed individual who by
- 2:43Speaker 1: all indications, was looking to start a career as a
- 2:46Speaker 1: serial killer. Felicia Marie Johnson was born and raised in
- 3:16Speaker 1: San Diego, California. Her father, Kevin, described her as loving,
- 3:21Speaker 1: kind and beautiful, the type of person who brought joy
- 3:25Speaker 1: to everyone she met. As a child, Felicia was responsible,
- 3:30Speaker 1: so responsible, Kevin said that she had curated and maintained
- 3:35Speaker 1: a routine at a young age. Felicia set her alarm,
- 3:39Speaker 1: woke up in the morning, got dressed, and made her
- 3:42Speaker 1: bed all by herself. She was five years old going
- 3:46Speaker 1: on thirty, her father added. As a young adult, Felicia
- 3:51Speaker 1: set her sights on the modeling industry, with dreams of
- 3:54Speaker 1: becoming a model or dancer, anything that had to do
- 3:58Speaker 1: with glamour. Loved doing hair and makeup. Her generous and
- 4:03Speaker 1: charitable nature too, remained intact. Felicia was a very sweet person,
- 4:10Speaker 1: Kevin said, a kind heart gives you the shirt off
- 4:13Speaker 1: her back. That's basically who she was. In the spring
- 4:18Speaker 1: of twenty twenty two, Felicia was doing sex work, apparently
- 4:22Speaker 1: booking clients through OnlyFans and other social media websites. Three
- 4:28Speaker 1: days after her twenty fourth birthday, on Wednesday, April thirteenth,
- 4:32Speaker 1: twenty twenty two, she flew to Houston, Texas from San Diego, California,
- 4:37Speaker 1: to both celebrate by visiting family and look for work.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Felicia booked a room at the Intercontinental, a four star
- 4:46Speaker 1: hotel located on the sixty seven hundred block of Main
- 4:49Speaker 1: Street in downtown Houston. On Friday, April fifteenth, she called
- 4:54Speaker 1: an uber to take her to Cover Girls nightclub, located
- 4:57Speaker 1: in the city's northwest. Cover Girls is a place that
- 5:01Speaker 1: touts itself as Houston's premier gentleman's spot, where the clientele
- 5:06Speaker 1: can unwind with drinks while enjoying the performances and company
- 5:11Speaker 1: of the club's dancers. Felicia reportedly auditioned to be a
- 5:15Speaker 1: dancer there and left sometime late that afternoon. At five pm,
- 5:21Speaker 1: she arrived back at the Intercontinental Hotel. There, Felicia was
- 5:25Speaker 1: active on social media until approximately eleven PM. Shortly thereafter,
- 5:31Speaker 1: Beginning in the early morning hours of Saturday, April sixteenth,
- 5:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty two, she stopped using her phone. By ten
- 5:39Speaker 1: thirty am, Felicia's lack of phone activity was noticed. It
- 5:44Speaker 1: was both unusual and concerning, as Felicia, like a majority
- 5:49Speaker 1: of folks these days, never went long without using it
- 5:52Speaker 1: for something to log on to social media, text, etc.
- 5:58Speaker 1: At that time, family members back in California became worried.
- 6:02Speaker 1: They called Felicia's cousin's girlfriend, Adriana, and asked her to
- 6:06Speaker 1: drive to Bear Creek Park to look for Felicia, as
- 6:10Speaker 1: the app Find My Phone was showing that her cell
- 6:13Speaker 1: phone was in that area. After being directed to a
- 6:17Speaker 1: location near the corner of North Eldridge Parkway and Clay Road,
- 6:21Speaker 1: twenty two miles west of the Intercontinental Hotel, Adriana found
- 6:26Speaker 1: Felicia's iPhone lying screen down just off the street. At
- 6:31Speaker 1: twelve twelve pm, Adriana called nine to one one to
- 6:35Speaker 1: report what she'd found and that Felicia was missing. As
- 6:39Speaker 1: she waited for officers to respond to the scene, she
- 6:43Speaker 1: noticed what looked like blood on the sides and bottom
- 6:46Speaker 1: of the phone, as well as on the back and
- 6:48Speaker 1: inside of the case. The police never came. At some point,
- 6:55Speaker 1: presumably after another call to police, Felicia Johnson's phone was
- 6:59Speaker 1: turned over and Houston p D Missing Persons Unit Detective
- 7:03Speaker 1: d Steigerwald began working the case as they sought to
- 7:08Speaker 1: retrace Felicia's steps. Video surveillance footage was obtained from the
- 7:13Speaker 1: Intercontinental Hotel. On the footage at two fifty four am,
- 7:18Speaker 1: a gray colored Porscha Macon and Suv was captured pulling
- 7:23Speaker 1: into the driveway of the hotel. Captured on another camera
- 7:27Speaker 1: at two fifty five, Felicia is seen entering the elevator
- 7:31Speaker 1: on the fifteenth floor. A minute later, her cell phone
- 7:35Speaker 1: and purse in hand, she is seen exiting the elevator
- 7:38Speaker 1: in the lobby. She then walked out the doors of
- 7:41Speaker 1: the hotel. After that, Felicia entered the Porsche Macan, which
- 7:47Speaker 1: drove off and out of range of surveillance. By the
- 7:51Speaker 1: time the footage was being reviewed by detectives, family friends,
- 7:55Speaker 1: and volunteers had been searching relevant parts of Houston. Social
- 8:00Speaker 1: media presence was created almost right away, including a Facebook
- 8:04Speaker 1: group by far the most active. Many there speculated that
- 8:09Speaker 1: Felicia was the victim of sex trafficking. Her father, Kevin,
- 8:14Speaker 1: began to lean that way as well. The fact that
- 8:17Speaker 1: his daughter had just interviewed at one of the city's
- 8:19Speaker 1: most popular strip clubs only exacerbated the suspicion. The theory
- 8:25Speaker 1: was a justifiable one, since Houston is in, if not
- 8:29Speaker 1: at the top of the list of US cities with
- 8:32Speaker 1: the most cases of sex trafficking. At this point, anyway,
- 8:37Speaker 1: no one knew HPD detectives were hot on the trail
- 8:40Speaker 1: of someone not connected to the club, someone whose motive
- 8:44Speaker 1: was entirely different. Next detectives Steigerwald enlisted the help of
- 8:50Speaker 1: HPD's Human Trafficking unit. There a recent post was located
- 8:55Speaker 1: on skipthegames dot com, an escort service site. On the site,
- 9:01Speaker 1: Felicia posted an advertisement at twelve twenty eight am on
- 9:06Speaker 1: April sixteenth, twenty twenty two, just a couple hours before
- 9:10Speaker 1: she was last seen on surveillance footage. Because of the
- 9:14Speaker 1: direction the investigation was going, it was transferred over to
- 9:18Speaker 1: Houston PD's Homicide Division. On April twenty first, detectives Blake
- 9:23Speaker 1: Roberts and Logan Lang of Houston PD's Homicide Division arranged
- 9:28Speaker 1: a Harris County Grand Jury subpoena to Uber requesting records
- 9:33Speaker 1: pertaining to Felicia Johnson. Uber ultimately supplied detectives with that information,
- 9:40Speaker 1: more specifically, that an Uber driver was dispatched to sixty
- 9:44Speaker 1: seven to fifty Main Street or the Intercontinental Hotel. The
- 9:49Speaker 1: Uber driver drove a gray Portia Macan, the same vehicle
- 9:53Speaker 1: Felicia was seen entering on surveillance footage. According to uber records,
- 9:59Speaker 1: she was to be dropped off at thirty two thirty
- 10:01Speaker 1: three wind Chase Boulevard or the wind Chase Hamlet apartments,
- 10:06Speaker 1: about sixteen miles west of the hotel. Felicia was dropped
- 10:11Speaker 1: off at the apartment gate at three twenty eight am.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The records showed the person who requested the uber was
- 10:19Speaker 1: named Chuku Ebaka Nu Bourdoo. Upon arriving in Houston from
- 10:34Speaker 1: California to help look for his daughter, Kevin Johnson gave
- 10:37Speaker 1: multiple interviews to local media and, with the help of
- 10:42Speaker 1: activists and leader of the New Black Panther Nation in Houston,
- 10:46Speaker 1: quanel X, put pressure on the Houston Police to fully
- 10:49Speaker 1: investigate the case. Quantel X lamented to reporters about the
- 10:54Speaker 1: recent epidemic of missing and murdered black women involved in
- 10:59Speaker 1: the sex industry in the past five months. Due to
- 11:02Speaker 1: this pressure from both Kevin Johnson and quonell X, Texas
- 11:07Speaker 1: Ecusearch and the FBI were asked into the investigation. Kevin
- 11:12Speaker 1: hired a private investigator and partnered with the organization Crime
- 11:16Speaker 1: Stoppers to offer a five thousand dollars reward for information
- 11:19Speaker 1: leading to Felicia's whereabouts her description went out everywhere through
- 11:25Speaker 1: both traditional media and social media. After determining Felicia Johnson
- 11:31Speaker 1: was dropped off via an uber at thirty two thirty
- 11:35Speaker 1: three wind Chase Boulevard, the address listed on the driver's
- 11:39Speaker 1: license of twenty eight year old Chukuubuka Nuwuvoodoo, the man
- 11:43Speaker 1: who requested the uber. Detectives began looking into the man.
- 11:48Speaker 1: He no longer lived at an apartment at that address.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Nuu Boodoo had since moved a couple miles west to
- 11:55Speaker 1: an apartment on the one thousand, forty nine hundred block
- 11:58Speaker 1: of South Richmond Avenue. On April twenty second, twenty twenty two,
- 12:03Speaker 1: detectives Roberts and Lang found and reviewed homeowners Association surveillance
- 12:08Speaker 1: video footage that showed Nuu Boodoo arrive at the front
- 12:12Speaker 1: entrance of the wind Chase Hamlet apartments at three eighteen am,
- 12:16Speaker 1: ten minutes before Felicia arrived. When she got out of
- 12:21Speaker 1: the uber, the Portcha Macan, Felicia headed toward and then
- 12:25Speaker 1: entered Nu Boodoo's vehicle, a silver two thousand and nine
- 12:29Speaker 1: Honda Accord, which proceeded to drive north toward South Richmond Avenue.
- 12:35Speaker 1: The uber pulled off At three twenty nine am on
- 12:39Speaker 1: the same day, detectives were reviewing the homeowner's association surveillance footage.
- 12:44Speaker 1: A volunteer with Texas ECUSEARCH discovered Felicia's purse near where
- 12:49Speaker 1: Adriana had located her cell phone. Felicia's California driver's license
- 12:54Speaker 1: and credit cards were still inside, as was a face mask,
- 12:58Speaker 1: eventually off of which they would pull Felicia's DNA. Crime
- 13:03Speaker 1: scene investigators processed the area surrounding the purse. It's unclear
- 13:08Speaker 1: if any clues were found. Meanwhile, the cops were looking
- 13:12Speaker 1: into Chuku Ebuka nwu Boodoo's background. They learned that he
- 13:17Speaker 1: was originally from Nigeria, but had lived in the Fort
- 13:21Speaker 1: Bend County area of Texas since childhood. In twenty eleven,
- 13:26Speaker 1: he graduated from high school and moved to Houston. A
- 13:30Speaker 1: prior offense detectives discovered shone some light on the type
- 13:34Speaker 1: of individual they were dealing with. In the early morning
- 13:38Speaker 1: hours of November eleventh, twenty twenty, a woman who will
- 13:42Speaker 1: refer to as Hope was at the Lodge at West
- 13:45Speaker 1: Oaks apartment complex waiting for a friend. That friend apparently
- 13:50Speaker 1: never showed. Nwou Boodoo approached Hope in his car and
- 13:55Speaker 1: began a conversation with her. He gained her trust and
- 13:59Speaker 1: she got into a car. Nuo Boodoo drove off, and
- 14:03Speaker 1: minutes later they ended up parked on a dark, unlit,
- 14:06Speaker 1: dead end street nearby. They both climbed into the back
- 14:10Speaker 1: seat of the car, where Nuo Boodoo fondled Hope. She
- 14:15Speaker 1: decided to get out of the vehicle and began to
- 14:17Speaker 1: flee the scene on foot. Nwoo Boodoo jumped out of
- 14:21Speaker 1: the car and chased Hope down the street. When he
- 14:24Speaker 1: caught up to her, he grabbed her by the wrist.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Hope was able to break free. She ran away and
- 14:31Speaker 1: called the police to report the attempted rape. Nwoo Boodoo's
- 14:36Speaker 1: story was different. He told police that he and Hope
- 14:39Speaker 1: met at the apartment complex. They left in his car
- 14:43Speaker 1: and then went to a gas station to use an ATM.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He got out one hundred and fifty bucks. They drove
- 14:49Speaker 1: to the unlit street and he placed the money on
- 14:52Speaker 1: the dashboard. N Woo Boodoo claimed Hope then took the money,
- 14:57Speaker 1: the man said, and they crawled into the back seat.
- 15:01Speaker 1: She then left the vehicle without returning the money. Nuu
- 15:05Speaker 1: Boodoo told officers, so he chased her down to get
- 15:08Speaker 1: it back. According to him, Hope ran off and he
- 15:13Speaker 1: returned to the place he met her and waited for
- 15:16Speaker 1: officers to arrive. When it was all said and done,
- 15:20Speaker 1: Hope declined to press charges. She just wanted to go home,
- 15:24Speaker 1: she told police. A lot more was learned in the
- 15:28Speaker 1: days to come as detectives continued to piece things together.
- 15:34Speaker 1: They obtained Felicia's cell phone data. Her phone connected to
- 15:38Speaker 1: a tower near the apartment of Chuku Ebuka Nuu Voodoo,
- 15:43Speaker 1: they learned, but it was video footage that continued to
- 15:46Speaker 1: break the case. Police were able to maintain a trail
- 15:50Speaker 1: of surveillance video on which the suspect's movements can be traced.
- 15:55Speaker 1: After picking Felicia up, Nuuvoodoo's car is seen heading toward
- 15:59Speaker 1: his then current residents at the Richmond Estates apartment complex.
- 16:04Speaker 1: He arrived at his unit there at three fifty one am, Felicia,
- 16:08Speaker 1: of course with him. More than an hour later, at
- 16:12Speaker 1: four fifty four am, Nuu Boodoo's silver Honda Accord can
- 16:16Speaker 1: be seen leaving his apartment heading toward Highway six. Eighteen
- 16:21Speaker 1: minutes later, at five twelve Felicia's phone connected to a
- 16:25Speaker 1: tower located near Bear Creek Park, the same area where
- 16:29Speaker 1: her purse and bloody cell phone would later be found
- 16:33Speaker 1: a little more than twenty minutes later, Nu Boodoo arrived
- 16:37Speaker 1: back at his apartment at eight fourteen am. He bought
- 16:41Speaker 1: a pack of nitrial gloves at home Depot. A couple
- 16:45Speaker 1: hours later, at ten twelve am, Nu Boodoo visited a
- 16:49Speaker 1: medical clinic for a cut on his hand. He told
- 16:53Speaker 1: the treating physician that he'd cut himself while opening boxes,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but of course, detectives Robert and langnew oh it was
- 17:00Speaker 1: common for the perpetrator of a violent crime to cut
- 17:03Speaker 1: themselves upon the act or during an attempt to cover
- 17:06Speaker 1: their tracks. Police determined the man also purchased a flashlight
- 17:11Speaker 1: and t shirt on April sixteenth and on the seventeenth,
- 17:15Speaker 1: four hand towels, thirteen gallon trash bags, and thirty gallon
- 17:20Speaker 1: trash bags. Footage obtained from Walmart showed Nuu Voodoo wearing
- 17:26Speaker 1: a bandage around his right hand during both purchases. Also
- 17:31Speaker 1: on April seventeenth, he purchased an eighteen inch pruning saw
- 17:35Speaker 1: from home Depot. After reviewing her snapchat records, detectives learned
- 17:42Speaker 1: that Felicia Johnson was going to be paid five hundred
- 17:45Speaker 1: dollars for meeting up with someone, an amount that matched
- 17:49Speaker 1: two ATM withdrawals Chuku Ebu Ka Nuubudu had made one
- 17:54Speaker 1: for three hundred dollars and another for two hundred. On
- 17:58Speaker 1: May thirteenthly a month after Felicia vanished, detectives obtained a
- 18:03Speaker 1: search warrant for Nuu Boodoo's car, as well as a
- 18:06Speaker 1: warrant for his arrest. Later that day, Nu Boodoo was
- 18:11Speaker 1: pulled over during a routine traffic stop and taken into custody.
- 18:16Speaker 1: When executing the search warrant on his car, officers found
- 18:20Speaker 1: a nine millimeter handgun, home depot receipts, a wal Mart receipt,
- 18:25Speaker 1: several loose latex gloves, a large kitchen knife, and a shovel.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Blue Star, a blood visualizing agent based on luminol was
- 18:36Speaker 1: used on the car itself and on several items within.
- 18:40Speaker 1: It lit up on the large kitchen knife and on
- 18:43Speaker 1: the trunk and in the back seat. A search warrant
- 18:47Speaker 1: was also issued on Nuboudou's apartment. There, crime scene investigator
- 18:53Speaker 1: k Busak found blood stains on the floor, in the hallway,
- 18:57Speaker 1: just outside the bathroom, on a flip flop in the bedroom,
- 19:01Speaker 1: on the bottom of an office chair in the bedroom,
- 19:04Speaker 1: on the bedroom floor, on the bottom of the bedroom
- 19:07Speaker 1: door jam, on the bottom of the exterior bedroom door,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and in front of the bedroom nightstand. Using blue star reagent.
- 19:17Speaker 1: In addition, and perhaps the most telling, large areas of
- 19:21Speaker 1: the bedroom floor and hallway just outside the bedroom and
- 19:24Speaker 1: the bathroom lit up, indicating they were positive for the
- 19:28Speaker 1: presence of blood. Blood found just outside the bathroom in
- 19:32Speaker 1: the hallway was later determined to belong to both Felicia
- 19:36Speaker 1: and Nuuburdoo, but blood in the other locations proved to
- 19:40Speaker 1: belong only to Felicia. Their theory was a simple one
- 19:45Speaker 1: to come to their suspect they believed had killed and
- 19:49Speaker 1: then dismembered Felicia Johnson. Ultimately, the Houston Police claimed they
- 19:56Speaker 1: didn't have enough evidence to charge him just yet, and
- 19:59Speaker 1: nu Voodoo was released. Then he disappeared, becoming a fugitive.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Though there were no direct phone calls between Felicia Johnson
- 20:20Speaker 1: and chuku Ebuka Nuubudu on their cell phone numbers, Detective
- 20:25Speaker 1: Roberts notes in his second affidaphit for the man's arrest
- 20:29Speaker 1: that sex workers often use Google voice phone numbers or
- 20:33Speaker 1: communications through Snapchat or Facebook Messenger to book meetings with clients.
- 20:39Speaker 1: At the time of the affidavit, Roberts was still waiting
- 20:42Speaker 1: on records from Google pertaining to Felicia's Google voice phone number.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Upon obtaining a warrant for records associated with nuu Budou's
- 20:52Speaker 1: Gmail address, damning Google searches were found. On April twentieth,
- 20:59Speaker 1: twenty twenty two, four days after Felicia Johnson disappeared, n
- 21:03Speaker 1: wu Boodoo performed the following searches. Does bleach denature blood?
- 21:10Speaker 1: Can bleach destroy DNA? What does bleach do to blood?
- 21:15Speaker 1: What does vinegar do to blood? Does vinegar destroy blood DNA?
- 21:22Speaker 1: The following day, he asked Google for the most forested
- 21:26Speaker 1: part of Houston. On April twenty seventh, twenty twenty two,
- 21:30Speaker 1: nu Boodoo typed in the search bar how to delete
- 21:34Speaker 1: your history completely, and on the twenty eighth, he was
- 21:38Speaker 1: looking for more chilling information as follows. How to be
- 21:42Speaker 1: a serial killer, fifteen cheapest places to live in the
- 21:46Speaker 1: world one thousand dollars a month, How to get away
- 21:50Speaker 1: with murder, How to kill without getting caught. Perhaps the
- 21:55Speaker 1: most disturbing search was next on April thirtieth, when he
- 21:59Speaker 1: typed in Houston Escort. He was back on the prow,
- 22:04Speaker 1: likely keeping up with the news and perhaps social media
- 22:07Speaker 1: regarding Felicia Johnson. Nu Boodoo googled the following on May third,
- 22:12Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. Can police check phone records of a
- 22:16Speaker 1: missing person? Can police check victims text messages? Can police
- 22:22Speaker 1: check text messages of a dead person? Can police unlock
- 22:27Speaker 1: a phone during an investigation? And there was other disturbing
- 22:32Speaker 1: evidence beyond the Google searches. Nu Boodoo's cell phone remained
- 22:38Speaker 1: in evidence after his release. Once a warrant was signed
- 22:42Speaker 1: to search the Android device. What was found was shocking.
- 22:47Speaker 1: In the gallery were the photographs of a dismembered woman
- 22:51Speaker 1: and three dead bodies that have not been identified, at
- 22:55Speaker 1: least not publicly. There was no meta or EXIF data
- 23:00Speaker 1: associated with these photographs. Often, in missing persons cases where
- 23:07Speaker 1: the victim is believed to be deceased, police and perhaps
- 23:11Speaker 1: particularly those in political positions i e. District attorneys, are
- 23:16Speaker 1: reluctant to file murder charges even when ample evidence exists.
- 23:23Speaker 1: In the case of Felicia Johnson, However, the evidence against
- 23:27Speaker 1: chuku Ebu Khan Nuwubodoo was overwhelming. On June ninth, twenty
- 23:32Speaker 1: twenty two, while remaining at large, he was charged with
- 23:36Speaker 1: murder and tampering with evidence, namely a human corpse. At
- 23:41Speaker 1: that point, the case had long been investigated as a murder. Nuubudoo, however,
- 23:47Speaker 1: was nowhere to be found. The Houston Police utilized both
- 23:52Speaker 1: the press and social media to try and locate the man,
- 23:56Speaker 1: but if they received any information or tips, they ultimately nowhere.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Seven months after the warrant for Nuubudu's arrest was signed
- 24:06Speaker 1: by a Harris County judge. On February seventh, twenty twenty three,
- 24:11Speaker 1: at about noon, a landscape contractor hired by the Texas
- 24:15Speaker 1: Department of Transportation called authorities to report they'd found human remains.
- 24:21Speaker 1: The bones were discovered near the intersection of Flamingo Lakes
- 24:25Speaker 1: Road and Highway one forty nine, in an area of
- 24:28Speaker 1: the Sam Houston National Forest in Montgomery County. The Sheriff's
- 24:33Speaker 1: office there later released a statement regarding the remains, relaying
- 24:38Speaker 1: that they were sent out for dental record comparison and
- 24:41Speaker 1: DNA analysis. Twenty days later, on February twenty seventh, twenty
- 24:46Speaker 1: twenty three, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office issued a press
- 24:50Speaker 1: release stating that the remains had been positively identified as
- 24:54Speaker 1: Felicia Johnson. Her family and friends, though always fearfu of
- 25:00Speaker 1: this outcome, were devastated. When her father, Kevin, finally spoke
- 25:05Speaker 1: with the media about a week after the discovery, his
- 25:08Speaker 1: heartbreak was apparent. It was very difficult for me as
- 25:12Speaker 1: a father to just know that I'm not going to
- 25:15Speaker 1: see my daughter ever again and ever talk to her again,
- 25:19Speaker 1: he told reporters. I can't sleep, I can't stop before
- 25:23Speaker 1: my daughter is found and this man is found. Kevin's
- 25:27Speaker 1: frustration was also evident. He believed the Houston Police dropped
- 25:33Speaker 1: the ball by releasing Nubodoo from custody without surveilling the
- 25:37Speaker 1: man after he contemplated filing a lawsuit against the department
- 25:42Speaker 1: or the state. On a go fund me set up
- 25:46Speaker 1: to help the family with expenses such as flying into
- 25:49Speaker 1: search and hiring the private investigator, Kevin said he'd received
- 25:53Speaker 1: a tip that Nuuburdu had fled to Nigeria. Now I'm
- 25:58Speaker 1: faced with the dilemma. What do I do as a father?
- 26:01Speaker 1: He posted on the gofund me page. Do I depend
- 26:04Speaker 1: on the police, do I hire a bounty hunter? Or
- 26:08Speaker 1: do I put a price on his head in Nigeria?
- 26:10Speaker 1: Once I find out what village he is in, I
- 26:14Speaker 1: will not stop until everyone involved is brought to justice.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Chuku Ebuka Nuubudu remains at large. He's a black man
- 26:25Speaker 1: with black hair and brown eyes, stands six feet one
- 26:29Speaker 1: inch tall and weighs two hundred and sixty pounds. If
- 26:33Speaker 1: the tip Kevin Johnson received is correct, nuu Budo might
- 26:37Speaker 1: still be in Nigeria, a country with which the United
- 26:41Speaker 1: States has an extradition treaty. He is considered extremely dangerous.
- 26:49Speaker 1: If you have any information about the murder of Felicia
- 26:52Speaker 1: Johnson or the whereabouts of Chuku Ebuka Nuuboudo, please contact
- 26:58Speaker 1: the Houston Police Department's Hamas Side Division at seven to
- 27:01Speaker 1: one three three zero eight thirty six hundred or crime
