- 0:00What do you think the main reason pets are getting sicker, queer?
- 0:04Feed them garbage, prone, flammatory food, and give them water that's contaminated with all the things.
- 0:10And don't get them outside to exercise. That's a recipe for disaster.
- 0:15You can take pets and turn pets into pet food?
- 0:17No, it's not supposed to happen, but it has in the past.
- 0:20And so, for some of these smaller companies, periodically, that's an issue that pops up.
- 0:25And other countries? No, in the United States.
- 0:29Yes.
- 0:31I mean, this is one of the most dirty industry.
- 0:35Yeah, it is. It truly is.
- 0:36Why do you believe Kibble is worse than fast food?
- 0:40I mean, there's been several studies that have shown that Kibble has some of the highest content of microplastics in all of the processed foods out there.
- 0:49Oh my gosh.
- 0:50And this is the most horrifying thing is that...
- 0:56Dr. Ruth, welcome to the show.
- 0:58Thanks, Warren. Always a pleasure.
- 1:00Yeah, this is going to be a lot of fun. So vet health, right?
- 1:03Right. Let's get right at it.
- 1:04Why is traditional veterinarians failing pets?
- 1:08I think a lot of it is that because veterinary medicine has become so corporatized,
- 1:14veterinarians are now down to a six to 12-minute appointment slot.
- 1:18And what they're dealing with is chronic disease.
- 1:21And you can't talk your client through the steps, even if you're coming from a purely conventional aspect in 12 minutes.
- 1:30The other part is that veterinary medicine got locked up in evidence-based medicine,
- 1:35even though on the human side we know that less than 11% of evidence-based medicine recommendations are actually substantiated by evidence.
- 1:46So we're just doing what we've always done because that's the way to do it.
- 1:50And honestly, too, I think there are small inroads coming, like in 2006,
- 1:58I'm talking about leaky gut syndrome and intestinal dysbiosis,
- 2:02and I was a whack job, and this is now mainstream.
- 2:05It's just that medicine changes so slowly.
- 2:08But in the process, our pets are suffering because clients can't get the care that they need.
- 2:14They can't get the information, and the solutions are always pharmaceutical-based instead of looking at the entire picture.
- 2:22It's really sad, like we're looking at functional medicine and the movement that's happening right now,
- 2:27and that same playbook that's making the world sick, especially American sick,
- 2:35among the sickest countries in the world, because we're using toxic medications
- 2:39that should only be used in emergencies to cover symptoms and not get to the root cause.
- 2:44And we took that same playbook on something that can't even choose for itself.
- 2:49At least as an adult, I can choose to take or not take the medicine,
- 2:54but here's an animal that can't choose on its own, and we're choosing for it,
- 2:58and we're giving it, would you agree, poisonous medications in many cases?
- 3:05Absolutely, and what you said earlier, many of these are meant for emergency use only,
- 3:10and thank God for them, right?
- 3:12If you've got a kidney infection antibiotics are going to help you out.
- 3:16That's an emergency situation, but the problem is that these medications meant for short-term use
- 3:23are becoming lifelong usage as early as two years of age.
- 3:27So the other big issue is that clients don't know who to trust.
- 3:33They don't quite trust their veterinarian anymore.
- 3:36They're flocking to influencers on social media.
- 3:40Some of them have great information. Some of them really don't,
- 3:43and they're in there to make a buck, and it's difficult for the client for the pet parent
- 3:48to make those decisions. Like, is this person the real deal?
- 3:51Are they not the real deal?
- 3:53Back up one second here. Like you were a traditional vet.
- 3:56Right.
- 3:57Doing traditional practices.
- 4:00What's your story? Like, how did you wind up here?
- 4:04How did you become a functional medicine veterinarian if you will?
- 4:07I mean, so I woke up January 1st, 2005,
- 4:12realising I was nothing but a shield for drug companies.
- 4:16And by that time, I'd been eating the standard American diet.
- 4:19It was more than 80 pounds heavier than I am currently.
- 4:22I developed fibromyalgia, IBS.
- 4:25And so this is what makes a doctor,
- 4:28either become a better doctor because they want a different solution
- 4:31or completely fail.
- 4:34And I was fortunate enough to have seen many of my clients being diagnosed with fibromyalgia
- 4:40being turned into the junkie.
- 4:42It just was horrible. And this was even before the opioid epidemic.
- 4:46And I knew that's not what I wanted.
- 4:48And so I started looking around.
- 4:50I was fortunate to find a functional medicine doctor in my hometown.
- 4:54And he worked with me, did all of the things in terms of removing toxins,
- 5:00fixing the microbiome, fixing my thyroid, getting things back online
- 5:05to where I could make these lifestyle choices
- 5:08and start to see my health improve over six months.
- 5:11You weren't a pet, but you became your first pet functional medicine pet patient.
- 5:17Right.
- 5:18And so when you saw that these getting to the root cause of why you didn't feel well,
- 5:24while you had chronic pain, instead of getting on a pain med,
- 5:27and I had fibromyalgia as well, but if a dog has pain and is limping,
- 5:31they get them on a pain med.
- 5:33Right.
- 5:34And it's not good to keep them. There's tons of side effects.
- 5:36Right.
- 5:37So when you discovered that functional medicine and getting to the root cause helped you,
- 5:40was that turning point?
- 5:42Exactly.
- 5:43And to be fair, I started studying a traditional Chinese veterinary medicine,
- 5:47but I'm feeling myself get better and I'm thinking,
- 5:51why aren't we doing this for dogs and cats?
- 5:54And so that's what I did is figure out how to adapt some of those protocols
- 5:59and how to create a whole food diet for dogs and cats
- 6:04that would actually nourish them instead of robbing them of their vitality.
- 6:08And that's where the original crock pet diet was born.
- 6:11Yeah, just heard about the crock pet diet.
- 6:13Right on.
- 6:14Yeah.
- 6:15So the thing is, is that I started, I got the courage,
- 6:18because my dog, Napinthe, had a bacterial endocarditis,
- 6:22which is a bacterial infection on your heart valve is not good.
- 6:26And most dogs die.
- 6:27So we got our stabilized using conventional medicine,
- 6:31went, took her down with me while we're studying TCBM.
- 6:34My teachers are like, okay, do these acupoints, use these herbs,
- 6:37and start cooking for her.
- 6:39She would not let me put needle center.
- 6:41She thought the herbs were okay.
- 6:43She thought cooking for her was an outstanding idea.
- 6:46And literally, Warren, I watched on ultrasound
- 6:49as a one centimeter lesion on her heart valve
- 6:53disappeared down to three millimeters,
- 6:56which is the width of a piece of paper.
- 6:58That's not supposed to happen.
- 7:00It's always wanting to heal itself.
- 7:02Yes.
- 7:03It's always wanting to protect itself,
- 7:05even with certain types of cancers.
- 7:07It's encapsulating.
- 7:08There's lots of stuff around this.
- 7:10But we think that, oh, there's no hope.
- 7:14But the body's crying to heal itself.
- 7:16And once you give it, remove the interference
- 7:19or give it the nutrients that it needs it will heal.
- 7:21And that's what's nice.
- 7:23But here's the question that dogs and cats,
- 7:27or I think there's this belief that they're more resilient
- 7:30because they're an animal, right?
- 7:32But they get sick, they get sicker quicker.
- 7:35In my opinion.
- 7:36Yes.
- 7:37But they heal faster as well.
- 7:39Right.
- 7:40So you get to see miracles in your clinic
- 7:42and see pets that were essentially
- 7:44had the death sentence that are now
- 7:46able to restore their health and become
- 7:49that essentially a caregiver to a family.
- 7:52And that's it.
- 7:53I mean, and this is a whole other topic.
- 7:55But part of what makes pets sick,
- 7:58aside from all of the things we talk about all the time,
- 8:01is that they are buffering our emotional state.
- 8:04And we are stressed to the gills.
- 8:06And so if we stay in that sympathetic state,
- 8:10that fight or flight state all the time,
- 8:12so are they.
- 8:14And so if we can help bring ourselves down,
- 8:16they come down, they can start to heal.
- 8:18We can start to heal.
- 8:20And as a family, we can start to shift
- 8:23the whole experience from one of battling health conditions
- 8:27to one of remembering how to get back to health.
- 8:32I love them.
- 8:33Like in animals art, that's why people love them so much.
- 8:36I mean, they're in at some level.
- 8:38They're taking on an abuse.
- 8:39They're taking on our cares and our worries
- 8:41and our fears.
- 8:42They can feel courses can feel.
- 8:44Yes.
- 8:45They're, we stop believing in energy medicine,
- 8:48you know, in America and replace it with, you know,
- 8:52oil-based, oil-based foods, oil-based medicines, oil-based
- 8:57oil-based shampoos and products that are 50% oil-based,
- 9:00like we oil-based, and then we guess we have for the pets.
- 9:03Right.
- 9:04Oil-based shampoos, oil-based medications,
- 9:06oil-based toys, plastics and chemicals.
- 9:10Right.
- 9:11That are causing inflammation and disease.
- 9:13So this, our economy is oil-based, right?
- 9:16So we've, it's infiltrated our food,
- 9:19the pesticides, the herbicides,
- 9:21and it's, we haven't, we're not in symbiotic relationship
- 9:26with chemicals.
- 9:27No.
- 9:28We're in symbiotic relationship with healthy bacteria.
- 9:31We're in symbiotic relationship with the sunshine.
- 9:34And that's why our dogs or pets need to be grounded.
- 9:36They need to be in their sunshine.
- 9:37They need to drink clean water.
- 9:39They need to eat nutritious foods.
- 9:43And we've turned it into fast food pets.
- 9:45Worse than fast food.
- 9:47Why do you believe kibble is worse than fast food?
- 9:50No of a food classification system, right?
- 9:53Unprocessed, minimally processed,
- 9:56processed, ultra processed.
- 9:58All kibble, if you work it into that classification system,
- 10:02is ultra processed.
- 10:04So not only is the food quality going in,
- 10:07it's super high, highly processed carbohydrates,
- 10:10which are going to be pro-inflammatory,
- 10:13create massive glycemic spikes.
- 10:16Then you bake this stuff, roll it through an extruder
- 10:19at super high temperatures,
- 10:21you're creating AGEs, ALEs,
- 10:23all of the things that we worry about in turnogens.
- 10:26Yes.
- 10:27And all these myard reaction proteins.
- 10:30And then you pour this into a plastic lined bag,
- 10:35which, you know,
- 10:37it may sit in a warehouse for three to six months if you're lucky,
- 10:41maybe close to a year,
- 10:43depending on how well it sells.
- 10:45And so that heat, if it's not well stored,
- 10:47is just further pushing all of the micro-nanoplastics
- 10:50from that plastic liner into the food itself.
- 10:53I mean, there's been several studies that have shown
- 10:56that kibble has some of the highest content
- 10:59of micro-plastics in all of the processed foods out there.
- 11:03Oh my gosh.
- 11:04I mean, if someone's listening to this
- 11:06and wondering why they're losing their pet friends,
- 11:09their pet family,
- 11:10their loved pets,
- 11:12so quickly and the suffering.
- 11:14And, you know,
- 11:15it's certainly here for a short amount of time,
- 11:17and they could be with you for a lot longer.
- 11:18Yes.
- 11:19But, you know, maybe 10, 12 years,
- 11:21what used to be 15, 20 years.
- 11:24And it's super sad.
- 11:26And the pet suffers you suffer.
- 11:28And it's almost like being on the medical treadmill.
- 11:31So it's not only living healthy,
- 11:33it's not even living long,
- 11:34but even healthy years.
- 11:35And this is the most horrifying thing,
- 11:38is that they're getting sick at two, at three, at four,
- 11:42when they should be in the prime of their lives.
- 11:45Like there's a reclassification on, you know,
- 11:47pet comparing dog age, cat age to human age.
- 11:50And so really, until they're six or seven,
- 11:53they're our age, right?
- 11:55They're in their 50s, 60s.
- 11:57So where they should be in the prime of their lives
- 12:00in terms of vitality health,
- 12:02they aren't.
- 12:03They're coming out of the box sick.
- 12:05And it's just heartbreaking.
- 12:08Why is dog and cat kibble worse than fast food?
- 12:11It is just chock full of all of the carcinogens,
- 12:15advanced glycation in products,
- 12:17advanced liposomal in products,
- 12:19myriad reaction proteins.
- 12:21It is full of inferior quality feed stuff.
- 12:25And that's the distinction most people don't make.
- 12:28There's pet food, but truly it is feed.
- 12:32And it's, it's just not biologically appropriate for them.
- 12:38If the way I like to compare it
- 12:40is that if you made a steady diet of Doritos,
- 12:43you could survive,
- 12:45but you're not going to thrive.
- 12:47And that's essentially what we're feeding our pets
- 12:49is corn product.
- 12:51So we're giving them Doritos without the red dust flavoring.
- 12:54The red dust?
- 12:55Yeah, the super duper lime chipulty
- 12:57and the scary frightening red stuff
- 12:59that comes off on your hands.
- 13:01So that's not in there,
- 13:03but so they're making the kibble.
- 13:05And they spray it with things like cadaverine,
- 13:09which sounds as awful as it,
- 13:12it's hard to...
- 13:13What's cadaverine?
- 13:14So it's basically when stuff,
- 13:16when fat start to rot,
- 13:18cadaverine is a molecule that gets produced,
- 13:23well...
- 13:24From rotting fat.
- 13:25From rotting fat.
- 13:26And so basically they spray the top of the kibble with this
- 13:28because it's a palatant for dogs and cats.
- 13:31They're using rotting fat.
- 13:33So oxidized pro-inflammatory...
- 13:36Chocful of ALE's just horrific stuff.
- 13:41And this is what is the palatant for most pet food?
- 13:45So it's probably a waste product that they decided,
- 13:48hey, how can we get rid of this waste product?
- 13:50Let's put it on pet kibble.
- 13:52And so we don't have to throw it away
- 13:55and make some money off of it.
- 13:57I mean, most of the...
- 14:00There's good quality kibbles out there,
- 14:02although I wouldn't recommend it.
- 14:04But the vast majority of the pet food industry is upcycling.
- 14:08Okay, we can't use this on the human side.
- 14:10The 4D animals that should not have even gone to the slaughterhouse,
- 14:15they end up in pet food.
- 14:17For a while there was a problem with xylazine,
- 14:22which is an anesthetic agent contaminating pet food
- 14:25because these are animals that should have never been anywhere near a slaughterhouse
- 14:30that are now getting turned into a pet food.
- 14:33That's just craziness.
- 14:35What type of... is it like cows is it?
- 14:38Right.
- 14:39Pigs, what is it?
- 14:40All of that.
- 14:41So any of the commercially produced animal proteins in this country,
- 14:45there are supposed to be guidelines saying that this animal is sick
- 14:49and it should not enter the food system.
- 14:51But they push them through.
- 14:54And so there's food inspection,
- 14:57but the last stats I read is a veterinarian,
- 15:01is responsible for 11,000 chickens a minute,
- 15:05something like 200 pigs a minute,
- 15:08150 cows a minute.
- 15:10There's no way that they can actually have the time and the ability to say,
- 15:15this is a sick animal.
- 15:16No.
- 15:17So they're taking sick, diseased, medicated animals?
- 15:20Yeah.
- 15:21And giving it to our pets.
- 15:22The 4Ds.
- 15:23Dead disease, dying, or dead, you know.
- 15:26It's just bad news.
- 15:28And then this has not been a problem for a bit.
- 15:31But there have been situations where euthanized dogs and cats
- 15:36are being turned into pet food.
- 15:38And so now, here they are.
- 15:40They've got phenobarbital on board to affect the euthanasia
- 15:45and that's getting put into the food.
- 15:47You can take pets and turn pets into pet food?
- 15:49No.
- 15:50It's not supposed to happen, but it has in the past.
- 15:52And so it's for some of these smaller companies.
- 15:55Periodically, that's an issue that pops up.
- 15:57And other countries?
- 15:58No.
- 15:59In the United States.
- 16:00In the United States.
- 16:01Yes.
- 16:02I mean, this is one of the most...
- 16:05Is it dirty industry?
- 16:06Yeah.
- 16:07It is.
- 16:08It truly is.
- 16:09And it's governing board is AFCO, American Association of Feed Control Officials.
- 16:16And it's an industry group.
- 16:19So we're asking industry to police themselves.
- 16:22That doesn't work well.
- 16:23No, it's not going to work well because it's...
- 16:25You know, it's going to cut into their bottom line, cut into their profits.
- 16:28And yeah, that's not good.
- 16:31No.
- 16:32What do you think the main reason pets are getting sicker queer?
- 16:36There's a myriad of reasons.
- 16:38But honestly, I believe it's because we are removing their gonads.
- 16:43We're staying in neutering as early as eight weeks of age.
- 16:46And they are never having the opportunity to become endocrine competent.
- 16:51So what happens is we're having these animals that never mature physically.
- 16:58They never mature mentally, emotionally, et cetera.
- 17:02And they have altered biochemistry because luteinizing hormone levels shoot up,
- 17:08tissues that shouldn't have receptors develop them,
- 17:11and take in this luteinizing hormone and it just creates havoc in the body.
- 17:16So when you take that on top of the toxic burden that pets are experiencing,
- 17:21which is anywhere from three to 90 times hours,
- 17:26and feed them garbage, prone, inflammatory food,
- 17:30and give them water that's contaminated with all the things
- 17:34and don't get them outside to exercise.
- 17:37That's a recipe for disaster.
- 17:39Yeah, they're completely removed from nature,
- 17:42giving them chemicals and not real food.
- 17:44There's no way they're going to thrive.
- 17:47It's really tough on them.
- 17:49Yeah, it's incredible.
- 17:51Most of them, well, all animals, including us because we're animals,
- 17:55we're meant to be outside in nature, grounding with sunshine,
- 17:59chewing on certain things, you know,
- 18:02experiencing your environment.
- 18:04Yeah, having a connection to the earth and to the planet,
- 18:08and you take that away and you put them inside where there isn't adequate sunshine,
- 18:12there is no grounding in nasty electric fields.
- 18:15Like all the things that would affect us,
- 18:17otherwise it's in a literature,
- 18:19it's going to, you know, like you said, three to 90 times affect them,
- 18:22electric fields, magnetic fields.
- 18:24Yes.
- 18:25Like all those things, do I've had friends who've had their pets
- 18:29were sleeping on pet beds that were near bad wiring,
- 18:33like laying right on top of it in a magnetic field,
- 18:35dissipate, you know, over several feet,
- 18:39but that nasty field close up with bad wiring,
- 18:43and you're not allowed to have bad wiring in house,
- 18:45that's why they check for it,
- 18:46because they put out these magnetic fields and electric fields,
- 18:49and particular magnetic fields that cause cancer.
- 18:51Right.
- 18:52So I just did a doc, you see, there's on that at home sick home,
- 18:54and the way they found that they had bad wiring in their home
- 18:58is what both of their pets, they had their pet bed,
- 19:01they moved their pet bed and it was over some bad wiring,
- 19:04and both the, both the dogs,
- 19:06and these were, you know, eating all the healthy diet.
- 19:10This is a very wealthy family doing everything right outside,
- 19:14playing all the love, raw food diet, like all the stuff,
- 19:18and they both died of cancer within months of each other,
- 19:23or even weeks, and it was because of the magnetic field.
- 19:26That's how quickly they got stage four cancer.
- 19:29So it's crazy how sensitive these animals are.
- 19:33I mean, maybe it's because dogs are more in tune with frequency as well,
- 19:37but they're small.
- 19:38People that buy these smart plugs that you can turn on remotely
- 19:41with your phone, numerous people have said,
- 19:45oh my gosh, my dog just started acting like a nutball
- 19:48for no reason, just running around panicked,
- 19:51and finally narrowed it down to these smart plugs,
- 19:53and they're like, oh, I flip it off and he's cool.
- 19:56But this is, we forget this, not only for ourselves,
- 19:59but also for our animals.
- 20:01We are magnetic beings.
- 20:03We are on a magnetic planet.
- 20:05And if we alter that magnetic flow,
- 20:07we're going to, we're going to screw up the biochemistry
- 20:11and systems we don't even understand yet.
- 20:13No, we don't understand.
- 20:14This is what controls birds flying around the world,
- 20:17and butterflies, and like all of this stuff,
- 20:19and we're like, oh, it doesn't matter.
- 20:21And then a plug like that puts out a nasty magnetic field,
- 20:24an electric field, but also a magnetic field,
- 20:26that the dog can feel.
- 20:28It's not woo medicine.
- 20:30We need to wake up to these fields matter.
- 20:34They affect our sleep.
- 20:35They affect our energy, and it's like a bad movie
- 20:40where birds start flying to the wrong direction,
- 20:45and start falling out of the sky,
- 20:47because of the, we've broken the magnetic,
- 20:51you've seen the movies where if something's happening wrong
- 20:53with the earth and we're losing our magnetic field,
- 20:55birds are falling out of the sky,
- 20:57because they're being directed incorrectly,
- 20:59because these magnetic fields have been proven to,
- 21:02that's a great analogy is what I'm saying.
- 21:04Right, so I mean, basically,
- 21:05we're messing up their guidance systems.
- 21:07Yeah.
- 21:08And when we do that, everything else goes off-kilter.
- 21:11Does dogs have guidance systems?
- 21:14Well, that's an interesting question,
- 21:16and that's a whole other bag of wax.
- 21:18But I think so.
- 21:19I think that left to their own devices,
- 21:23they will figure out the best situation for themselves.
- 21:27And I think honestly, they're trying to pull us
- 21:30into better situations.
- 21:32I have a dear friend who, if it's his dog's time,
- 21:36like he's got a dedicated time to Gus,
- 21:39if he is not respecting that
- 21:41and got his phone in airplane mode,
- 21:43Gus is like, dude, he's knocking him with his nose
- 21:46and reminding him that he is supposed to be present
- 21:49for this time.
- 21:50How smart are dogs, like relative to a human agent?
- 21:53It's different types of intelligence.
- 21:55Yeah, so I think that's it.
- 21:57In terms of the way we judge intelligence for us
- 22:00is like, how many words do you, you know,
- 22:02how well read are you all of that?
- 22:04But they have a more of an innate intelligence.
- 22:07They know they've got it made.
- 22:09They're protected.
- 22:10They're no longer a prey species.
- 22:12They don't have to be predators unless they're feral.
- 22:15And that's what they're here to do
- 22:18is teach us to be in joy.
- 22:21Yeah, they're special.
- 22:23Special little gifts, aren't they?
- 22:24Yeah.
- 22:25I mean, I just got the reason I don't have dogs
- 22:28is timing and travel.
- 22:29Right.
- 22:30It's just a huge responsibility.
- 22:32And I already have three kids.
- 22:34But they could add a lot of value.
- 22:37But I'm still like in that place, you know,
- 22:40because I'm going to wind up taking...
- 22:44And that's it.
- 22:45Yeah.
- 22:46So because kids don't have their frontal lobe developed yet.
- 22:48And so the ultimate responsibility,
- 22:50it's like anything else.
- 22:52There is the, you know,
- 22:54there's unintended consequences to decisions.
- 22:56And just if you make an emotional decision
- 22:58and get a family pet,
- 22:59because your kid wants them,
- 23:01you have to know that it's ultimately going to fall on you
- 23:04to make sure that pets well, well taking care of.
- 23:07Because they deserve it up.
- 23:08Or don't get it to animals.
- 23:09So I got two feral cats.
- 23:11And it has been life transforming for my middle daughter.
- 23:14She is in love with those cats.
- 23:17Like we've been in tears.
- 23:19I've actually been in tears.
- 23:20Remember I was texting you
- 23:22because the one was very sick.
- 23:23I'm trying to catch it, get it to the vet.
- 23:25I can't because it's feral.
- 23:26I got bit.
- 23:27I got scratched.
- 23:28I was doing everything I had.
- 23:29My daughter's in my arms.
- 23:31And the cat was amazing.
- 23:33Yeah.
- 23:34It turned around.
- 23:35The next day it was fine.
- 23:36I'm like, ugh.
- 23:37My neighbor's saying it's probably going to die.
- 23:39And she was my neighbor's daughter's a vet tack.
- 23:43And I'm trying to get like, do you have the gloves?
- 23:45So that I just got and get it to the vet.
- 23:48But I mean, that's interesting too, right?
- 23:51Because in the veterinary world we're like, without us,
- 23:55the cat's going to die.
- 23:56Now the cat really has the capability to heal itself.
- 23:59And we're useful when it's beyond that capability.
- 24:03But it's just, I mean cats are such amazing creatures
- 24:07because they are like, this is not good for me.
- 24:11I'm going to see you.
- 24:12Or this is great for me.
- 24:14I love this.
- 24:15Thank you.
- 24:16I would like some more.
- 24:17And so that's a valuable lesson.
- 24:18Because so many of us spend our lives just grinding away, grinding away,
- 24:23and never taking time to enjoy the small bits in life.
- 24:27Cats are great teachers on that one.
- 24:29They are great.
- 24:30They love, they use everyone and everything around us.
- 24:34It's like, you're mine.
- 24:35It's crazy.
- 24:36I mean, they don't let me pet them at certain times.
- 24:41But when they want something, they're rubbing all over me.
- 24:44They'll let them pet because they want food.
- 24:45Yeah.
- 24:46So they're survivors, man.
- 24:48They are.
- 24:49And they're master manipulators.
- 24:50Masters.
- 24:51They have my middle daughter wrapped.
- 24:54And they're relentless.
- 24:56When they want food, they will meow, meow, meow.
- 24:58And people like someone, like a worker's at my house.
- 25:01And the cats are bothering them.
- 25:03And they're getting water and foods from them.
- 25:05Like, what are you doing?
- 25:06They're just like, well, they keep bothering me.
- 25:08And I'm like, wow.
- 25:09Yeah, it's not.
- 25:10These are outside cats.
- 25:11They don't need to overfeed them.
- 25:12What do you believe the biggest lie pet parents are being told right now?
- 25:16What passes as preventive medicine and veterinary medicine?
- 25:20And in traditional veterinary medicine, preventive is vaccines, heartworm prevention,
- 25:28flea control that they now have a 12-month injection of a pesticide,
- 25:34which is carcinogenic.
- 25:36Amongst other things, I mean, you know, talk about...
- 25:39Right, even mice, a mouse, cancer for cancer study, you've injected the pesticide.
- 25:43Yeah.
- 25:44So we have these...it's just so incredibly frustrating because the goal with all of these
- 25:52from the pharma is client compliance.
- 25:55So if we give your dog a 12-month injection, you're compliant for the year.
- 26:02But that's not helping the dog.
- 26:04So the biggest lie is what is passing for preventive medicine, which is actually creating more disease.
- 26:13So the preventive medicine in the pet industry is causing more disease, not preventing it?
- 26:19Correct.
- 26:20Like over-vaccination, over-utilization of pesticides, over-utilization of pharmaceuticals,
- 26:28spaying and neutering at eight weeks of age, feed only this bag of prescription diet.
- 26:35All of the traditional recommendations, these are products that are pro-inflammatory at best
- 26:41and pro-carcinogenic at worst, and all of the things in between in terms of autoimmune disease,
- 26:48IBS, cognitive, dist problems, anxiety, et cetera, et cetera.
- 26:53So we've created the disaster that we're currently living through with our pets.
- 26:59So just because it's a veterinarian approved doesn't mean it's healthy for your pet.
- 27:03That's right.
- 27:04This is the problem is that just like medical schools, who's funding veterinary education,
- 27:10big pet food, big pharma, it's not for the pets, it's for the bottom line.
- 27:17So they're part veterinarians or cogs in the wheel of a money machine surrounded by, again,
- 27:25companies, medications, big food, big pharma.
- 27:30Big pharma.
- 27:31Yeah.
- 27:32Big ag.
- 27:33And the thing is that veterinarians entered this profession with their hearts full of intent
- 27:38for caring for pets.
- 27:40And because of the education process, they've ended up some place completely different.
- 27:46So if you've got a local vet, be kind to them.
- 27:51They are suffering right now.
- 27:53And they have to see it.
- 27:55So here's the difficulty, right?
- 27:57If you're in the middle of it, you see it.
- 28:00You see it's not working, but how do you get out of it?
- 28:04And many of these young veterinarians are coming out of veterinary school with debt
- 28:09somewhere between a quarter of a million and $400,000.
- 28:13So what do they have to do?
- 28:14They have to jump on, hump in those bills to make their lives work.
- 28:19And then you couple with that with the fact that they're seeing 40, 60 patients a day
- 28:26and they're being asked to produce at a certain dollar volume.
- 28:31They can't see their way out of the weeds.
- 28:34And when you're so busy and you're in sympathetic fight or flay,
- 28:39you don't have time to get back in your heart, which is the reason you probably became of that.
- 28:43Yes.
- 28:44You're sensitive kind heart for animals.
- 28:45You love animals.
- 28:47They put you in your parasympathetic.
- 28:50They helped you relax and connect to nature into God and to yourself.
- 28:54And then you take on a job that puts you into your sympathetic long hours late nights
- 29:00and you become numb potentially to feel the very, maybe not,
- 29:08because I mean, that's our just, they are loving.
- 29:11They love animals.
- 29:13I mean, it's beautiful.
- 29:14So, I mean, what you just described is what brought me to that January 1st morning,
- 29:19waking up hungover because I'm drinking to medicate myself
- 29:23because what I am doing is not what I'm meant to do.
- 29:27I am creating harm instead of creating health.
- 29:30And so I had the blessing and the courage to find another way.
- 29:37But so many of my colleagues, especially the young colleagues,
- 29:41don't, they can't even get the headspace to look above where they are
- 29:46to see where they are in the big picture.
- 29:49But this podcast is going to help because we're going to share it with them.
- 29:53We're going to encourage them and to remind them that we're doing this for the pet
- 29:58and it's in the pet's best interest.
- 30:00And we can create change.
- 30:01We're doing it in our healthcare.
- 30:03We're doing it with toxicity.
- 30:04We can stand up putting synthetic chemicals that this is science.
- 30:11We can all agree on this.
- 30:13This is our, it's not just humankind, it's pet kind that is suffering
- 30:18because of our poor decision making.
- 30:20And there is a way out.
- 30:21We can get back to farms in regenerative ways.
- 30:24We can getting back into balance with nature because nature begets more nature.
- 30:29Like if you raise cows properly, it helps the soil.
- 30:32It produces more vegetation, which helps the CO2 levels.
- 30:37And everything, we're doing everything out of balance
- 30:39because we're destroying the systems that create balance.
- 30:42We're destroying the microbiome of the soil, right,
- 30:45which is destroying the microbiome of humanity,
- 30:48which is destroying the microbiome of the air.
- 30:51Of the entire planet, yes.
- 30:53And that's precisely it.
- 30:55We can get into overwhelm about all the things that are absolutely terrifying
- 31:00or we can take a deep breath and say, what change can I make today?
- 31:06What one thing can I do to help my dog feel better?
- 31:09What one thing can I do to help my cat feel better?
- 31:13And honestly, it's turn your phone off,
- 31:16put that bugger into airplane mode and go outside
- 31:19and sit on the ground with them.
- 31:21It's good for both of you.
- 31:22Exactly.
- 31:23I've seen studies where a human that's,
- 31:27it's like some sort of photography,
- 31:29when a dog's around you, your aura grows,
- 31:32it amplifies your aura, it amplifies your energy.
- 31:35Right.
- 31:36Shocker, as if you will.
- 31:37Well, and even if you go back to the research by the heart-math people,
- 31:41if you're healthy and everything is working well,
- 31:44your energetic field is 15 feet out from your heart.
- 31:47If you're lumpy and things are not so good,
- 31:50your dog comes in, you're hanging out together,
- 31:53you go into coherence,
- 31:55and then your energetic field expands exponentially.
- 31:59Because your dog, your cat,
- 32:01is helping you come back into parasympathetic,
- 32:04rest and digest state.
- 32:06That's why pets help you live longer.
- 32:08Yes.
- 32:09Yeah, so this all makes sense.
- 32:11Because the rest and relaxation that we need,
- 32:13like it's hard to get unless you do breath work
- 32:15or different things like that,
- 32:17or have some sort of routine,
- 32:19the dogs and cats will put that routine in your life.
- 32:22Yes.
- 32:23So they are a beautiful addition to family now.
- 32:25Yes.
- 32:26And I don't like it.
- 32:27I think about a smaller dog,
- 32:29something that can go with me.
- 32:30There you go.
- 32:31That's it.
- 32:32So our dog is,
- 32:33Ohio is seven pounds
- 32:35and so she can go on the plane with us,
- 32:38wherever we're traveling
- 32:39and she is a bomb-proof travel dog.
- 32:41And she brings so much joy,
- 32:43not just to us,
- 32:44but to everybody around us, yeah.
- 32:46Yeah.
- 32:47They're magnets for love.
- 32:48They're like, oh, you're puppy.
- 32:49Like even me,
- 32:50I'm slightly allergic
- 32:51and I just can't help myself.
- 32:52I'm like, you know,
- 32:53when I'm going walks and dusk,
- 32:55you know, they sense, they come to me.
- 32:57Like dang it.
- 32:58You know that I'm a little bit allergic,
- 33:00but you know, I just can't help myself.
- 33:02Exactly.
- 33:03You just got to get down there
- 33:04and give them a good wallup.
- 33:05Yeah, you do.
- 33:06And just go and wash my hands
- 33:07and touch my eyes.
- 33:08I'll be fine.
- 33:09Yep.
- 33:10What's the number one toxin in a household
- 33:11that's destroying pet health?
- 33:12Honestly,
- 33:13it's cleaning products
- 33:15and all of these artificial sense.
- 33:19This stuff,
- 33:20they're volatile organic compounds.
- 33:22They're released into the air.
- 33:24They go up.
- 33:25They come back down,
- 33:26attached to dust particles
- 33:28and your pet is breathing them,
- 33:30ingesting them,
- 33:32wallowing in them,
- 33:33absorbing them through their skin.
- 33:35So all these cleaning products,
- 33:37which are hormone disruptive,
- 33:38which are carcinogenic,
- 33:40those particles are,
- 33:42it's not just when you wipe a counter
- 33:45and spray it,
- 33:46the chemical is still there.
- 33:47Like it doesn't disappear
- 33:49where it fit,
- 33:50volatileizes.
- 33:51Right.
- 33:52And then you have on to little rats
- 33:54called dust or microplastics.
- 33:56Yes.
- 33:57And even worse.
- 33:58And then drop to the floor.
- 34:00If so, if you're not vacuuming,
- 34:02if you don't have air filters,
- 34:04that's getting, getting inside their pet.
- 34:06So that just bio accumulates in the pet
- 34:08and causes a link,
- 34:09will be linked to disease.
- 34:11Exactly.
- 34:12That's super sad.
- 34:13Horrifying.
- 34:14So the alternative would be
- 34:15just use vinegar.
- 34:16Yep.
- 34:17Vinegar and water.
- 34:18It's super awesome.
- 34:19Vinegar water baking soda.
- 34:20You can clean anything with those three things.
- 34:22Your whole house.
- 34:23Yeah.
- 34:24Literally.
- 34:25And you can, you know,
- 34:26and there's laundry products.
- 34:27There's a lot of, you know,
- 34:28safe companies out there,
- 34:29truly free being one of them,
- 34:30so many now.
- 34:31Like it's just endless,
- 34:32the different decisions,
- 34:33or you can make your own.
- 34:35Yes.
- 34:36And vinegar does,
- 34:37vinegar and baking soda
- 34:38is going to do 90% of the work in your home.
- 34:40Agreed.
- 34:41Yeah, it's crazy.
- 34:42If someone wanted to prove their pet health tonight,
- 34:45what would you tell them to do?
- 34:46Get a water filter.
- 34:47Yeah.
- 34:48That's step one.
- 34:50Our water is so
- 34:53unclean,
- 34:54and it is transmitting all of the
- 34:57microplastics,
- 34:58the herbicides,
- 34:59the pesticides,
- 35:01the PFAS,
- 35:02all of these things.
- 35:04So if our goal in detoxification
- 35:06is to help unload
- 35:09what's in the pet's body,
- 35:11it works a whole lot better
- 35:12if we don't put it in to start with.
- 35:15That's beautiful.
- 35:16You know, really,
- 35:17because that's something
- 35:18they're drinking dogs
- 35:19and cats,
- 35:20drink tons of water,
- 35:21and that small amounts of toxins
- 35:23build up in their tissues,
- 35:24farm suitable drugs,
- 35:25or you know,
- 35:26obviously pesticides,
- 35:27glyphosate,
- 35:28even showing up in our drinking water.
- 35:29Yes.
- 35:30And then human,
- 35:31small doses of hormone disrupting,
- 35:34you're drinking someone else's
- 35:36paxil, someone else's heart-med,
- 35:38you're at low doses,
- 35:39because the,
- 35:41the,
- 35:43the super-treatment plants
- 35:45just aren't able to
- 35:47put that stuff out.
- 35:48It's being dumped back into our rivers,
- 35:49which is sucking back into the water table,
- 35:51and then we put a well in the ground near the river,
- 35:54and it pulls it right back into our water supply,
- 35:57and right back into us,
- 35:59right back into our pets,
- 36:00and then we keep cycling,
- 36:01all these drugs
- 36:02that just don't break down in the environment,
- 36:04forever drugs, if you will.
- 36:05They are,
- 36:06and so this is
- 36:07the hydrogeologic cycle, right?
- 36:09We're having the water goes up,
- 36:11it evaporates,
- 36:12it goes into the clouds,
- 36:13the clouds rain,
- 36:14and starts the whole process over again.
- 36:16But, and this, honestly,
- 36:18is why children born today
- 36:20have DDT in their cord blood.
- 36:22This is a pesticide that was banned in 1968.
- 36:26It's not gone yet.
- 36:28No.
- 36:29It's so sad.
- 36:30It is.
- 36:31What is the sickest pet
- 36:32you were able to help with natural methods
- 36:34and have that turn around?
- 36:36There's been so many.
- 36:37But the dog that sticks out in my mind,
- 36:39ten-year-old,
- 36:40border collimax,
- 36:43been diagnosed with kidney disease
- 36:45at the age of two,
- 36:46and put on the solution
- 36:48veterinary medicine
- 36:49as to put them on a low-protein diet.
- 36:51All right.
- 36:52Now you have a two-year-old dog
- 36:53that's neutered,
- 36:55that's going to start losing muscle mass
- 36:57because he has no test-tosterone on board,
- 36:59on a low-protein diet.
- 37:01So, this dog at the age of ten
- 37:03had a completely burnout coat,
- 37:05had IBS,
- 37:07had hip dysplasia,
- 37:09you know, all sorts of joint issues
- 37:11that he didn't have the muscle mass
- 37:13to support mobility.
- 37:14So sad.
- 37:15Horrifying.
- 37:16And so his mom finally was like,
- 37:18I'm done.
- 37:19I've had it,
- 37:20I've been doing everything
- 37:21you all said
- 37:22and this dog is getting sicker
- 37:23and sicker and sicker.
- 37:24So we started this guy
- 37:26on a special recipe
- 37:28of the original Croc Pet diet
- 37:30and a few other bits and pieces,
- 37:33did a little acupuncture.
- 37:35He comes back in in two weeks,
- 37:37I don't even recognize this dog
- 37:39because his coat is now black
- 37:42and glistening,
- 37:43and he feels good,
- 37:45and he's able to stand up
- 37:47without taking 30 seconds
- 37:49to wobble himself up.
- 37:50I mean,
- 37:51and that's in two weeks,
- 37:52just with food.
- 37:53And then thousands of dollars
- 37:55at the vet,
- 37:56because it's expensive.
- 37:57Yeah, you know.
- 37:58And then it puts people out financially
- 38:00because they love their pet so much
- 38:01and they're not even getting solutions
- 38:02and just running to the vet,
- 38:04late night's emergency pet visits
- 38:08and if we just fed and cared
- 38:10for our dogs naturally
- 38:12as they were intended
- 38:13in dogs and cats and other pets.
- 38:15Right.
- 38:16Our wallets would be lighter.
- 38:18Well, that's it.
- 38:19Heavier.
- 38:20Heavier, yeah.
- 38:21But here's the problem, right?
- 38:22Because they're going to the vet.
- 38:23There's a massive problem.
- 38:25And the solutions they're getting
- 38:27are it's $10,000 or euthanasia.
- 38:33I mean, that's insanity.
- 38:34That is insanity.
- 38:35And that's $10,000.
- 38:37And the difficulty is,
- 38:39is they're being pressured
- 38:40into the euthanasia part,
- 38:41not even giving pain meds
- 38:43to like, here,
- 38:44let me buy you a little time
- 38:45or whatever it is
- 38:46that could palliate the symptomatology
- 38:48long enough for that pet parent
- 38:50to make a coherent decision.
- 38:53So the difficulty for many pet parents
- 38:56is saying,
- 38:57let me think about that
- 38:59because they don't know what to do next.
- 39:01Yeah.
- 39:02It's almost like you had a hospital saying,
- 39:04if you don't do this medication,
- 39:05you're going to die or whatever.
- 39:06It's almost like a pressure technique.
- 39:08It is.
- 39:09And the, you know, it's not quite as bad
- 39:12where you have to,
- 39:14what is it in the human side
- 39:15where you have to sign something
- 39:16saying you realize
- 39:17that you're going to kill yourself
- 39:18if you don't follow the doctor's instructions,
- 39:21we're not to that point
- 39:22in veterinary medicine.
- 39:23But when pet parents say,
- 39:25I need to think about this.
- 39:27Can you give me something
- 39:28to help this guy feel better?
- 39:30They're getting pushed back on that.
- 39:32But here's the beautiful thing.
- 39:34We had one of my coaches
- 39:36had a pet parent.
- 39:38The dog had intestinal lymphoma,
- 39:41has the intestinal lymphoma.
- 39:43And the vet said,
- 39:45basically you got three months
- 39:46with or without chemotherapy.
- 39:48They decided to do chemotherapy.
- 39:50The first dose just put the dog down
- 39:53and just wiped it out.
- 39:54Yeah.
- 39:55So they called Sunny
- 39:56and Sunny's like,
- 39:57okay,
- 39:58so she pulled together
- 39:59a diet plan for this dog.
- 40:01And this dog is a kind of course,
- 40:03so big guy.
- 40:04Supposed to be out 85 pounds.
- 40:06She was down to 40.
- 40:07Oh my gosh.
- 40:08So just incredible.
- 40:10Ribs.
- 40:11Exactly.
- 40:12So she puts together a diet plan,
- 40:14chooses some Chinese herbals
- 40:16and a couple of other supplements
- 40:18and in a month.
- 40:20This dog had gained all of its weight back.
- 40:23It's playing.
- 40:24She's happy.
- 40:26They take the dog to the vet
- 40:28and the vet's like,
- 40:29the same dog and they're like,
- 40:30yes.
- 40:31And they tell her what they've done.
- 40:33And she looks at him and says,
- 40:34well,
- 40:35she must have been misdiagnosed.
- 40:37Just no self-responsibility,
- 40:39no belief.
- 40:40And the ability of an animal
- 40:42to heal with that medication.
- 40:44It's kind of crazy.
- 40:45It's scary.
- 40:46Well, and just by supporting
- 40:47the basic mechanisms,
- 40:48if you don't start with food,
- 40:50if you don't support the microbiome,
- 40:52if you don't control inflammation,
- 40:54if you don't help the body detoxify,
- 40:56yes, that is the trajectory
- 40:58that will be followed.
- 40:59But if you do those things,
- 41:01I'm not saying this dog isn't going to die
- 41:03of cancer in the next six months.
- 41:05But in the meantime,
- 41:06she's having an outstanding
- 41:08quality of life.
- 41:10She's happy.
- 41:11She's playing.
- 41:12Her parents are happy
- 41:13because they have their dog back.
- 41:15Humans are the same way.
- 41:16They'll choose not to get on chemo
- 41:18because getting chemo
- 41:19will destroy the quality of their life.
- 41:20So they said,
- 41:21rather not do the chemo
- 41:22because I'm not really going to live
- 41:23any longer anyway.
- 41:24Yeah.
- 41:26There's maybe a 1% chance
- 41:28you live a little longer,
- 41:29but you're going to,
- 41:30or whatever the percentage is,
- 41:31but you're going to suffer.
- 41:32And there's studies
- 41:33that they can look at
- 41:34to make that informed decision.
- 41:35Right.
- 41:36Probably not happening
- 41:37when it comes to pets.
- 41:38I don't know if pet parents
- 41:39understand that as much.
- 41:40No, and it's hard, right?
- 41:42Because in that situation,
- 41:44many pet parents are absolutely pressured
- 41:46into one of the two choices.
- 41:49Either euthanasia
- 41:50or drop the 10 or 20 grand
- 41:52to do whatever it is.
- 41:54And that's just,
- 41:55chemo jobs are so inexpensive
- 41:57to make yet they charge
- 41:58so much for that.
- 41:59Yeah.
- 42:00Well, and that's it.
- 42:01I mean,
- 42:02chemo has its place
- 42:03in some situations.
- 42:04And there's some situations.
- 42:05And some stats
- 42:06that it can extend life.
- 42:07Yes.
- 42:08It's actually rare.
- 42:10Yes.
- 42:11But this is the thing.
- 42:12It's like getting the breath
- 42:14and the space
- 42:15to take a moment
- 42:17to make that decision.
- 42:18That's not what either system
- 42:20is good for doing.
- 42:22You can't react to motion.
- 42:23When a motion is high
- 42:24and to let this low.
- 42:25Yep.
- 42:26So you do need
- 42:27to be in a
- 42:29rest and relax state
- 42:30to make good decision-making.
- 42:32And that's always true.
- 42:33Yeah.
- 42:34You know, what supplements
- 42:35should every pet be on?
- 42:36Well, I mean,
- 42:38first of all,
- 42:39put all your money into food first.
- 42:40I mean,
- 42:41remember that.
- 42:42Yeah. I mean,
- 42:43supplements are just exactly
- 42:44that supplements.
- 42:45And they're meant to supplement
- 42:46a high-quality diet.
- 42:48I think probiotics
- 42:50are absolutely necessary
- 42:52because all of the,
- 42:54well, number one,
- 42:55the gut is the number
- 42:56two detox organ.
- 42:58And if so,
- 42:59it's not working,
- 43:00then nothing else is going
- 43:01to work well.
- 43:02And then,
- 43:03the other issue is,
- 43:04is that, again,
- 43:05if pets are somewhere
- 43:06between three
- 43:07and 90 times
- 43:08our toxic burden,
- 43:09their guts are getting whacked
- 43:11on a daily basis,
- 43:12because they're grooming
- 43:13the stuff off of themselves.
- 43:15So, probiotics are essential,
- 43:17some sort of an omega-3 fatty acid,
- 43:19supplement is essential.
- 43:20Most conventional pet foods
- 43:22are upwards of 30 to one
- 43:25in terms of an omega-6
- 43:27to omega-3 ratio.
- 43:28Omega-6s are required,
- 43:30but at that level,
- 43:32they're very pro-inflammatory.
- 43:34Sure.
- 43:35So, you have to shift the balance
- 43:37back to like a four-to-one ratio.
- 43:39Exactly.
- 43:40And, or even one-to-one.
- 43:41But I mean, four-to-one,
- 43:42and I think that's optimal
- 43:44for all species.
- 43:45And then,
- 43:46the last thing is
- 43:49I honestly believe
- 43:50in multivitamins and minerals,
- 43:52because if you are
- 43:53in a state of chronic stress,
- 43:55you're burning
- 43:56through B vitamins like water.
- 43:58And the other thing is,
- 44:00if you're feeding a commercial diet,
- 44:02it's been documented
- 44:03that after six weeks,
- 44:05the stated levels of nutrients
- 44:07are declining rapidly,
- 44:09particularly in terms of B vitamins.
- 44:11Because they're anti-nutrients.
- 44:12Right.
- 44:13A lot of those.
- 44:14Right.
- 44:15Yeah.
- 44:17If the oxalates can be anti-nutrients,
- 44:19if they're grinding up,
- 44:20and putting kale in there,
- 44:21which dots really aren't meant to eat kale.
- 44:23I would disagree with that.
- 44:25I think that this...
- 44:26So, the whole raw thing
- 44:28as being the ancestral diet,
- 44:30I don't think is correct.
- 44:31So, if we look at
- 44:33when dogs evolved
- 44:34from wolves,
- 44:35that's roughly 30 to 40,000 years ago,
- 44:37depending on who's talking.
- 44:40We were already cooking,
- 44:42and in fact,
- 44:43we were baking bread
- 44:4430,000 years ago.
- 44:46So, they evolved,
- 44:48first of all,
- 44:49eating our poop,
- 44:50which is why our microbiomes
- 44:51are more similar
- 44:52than people understand.
- 44:53I know that.
- 44:54Right.
- 44:55And eating our garbage,
- 44:56and then as they came in
- 44:58to our pack,
- 44:59literally,
- 45:00they ate what our leftovers were,
- 45:02and then finally,
- 45:04what we're feeding them.
- 45:05And the problem is,
- 45:06is that what we've been feeding them
- 45:08over the last 50 years,
- 45:10is horrifying.
- 45:11It is horrifying.
- 45:12Yeah.
- 45:13So,
- 45:15dogs microbiome are
- 45:17similar to our microbiome.
- 45:18Yes.
- 45:19Because they're eating our microbiome.
- 45:20We have co-evolved.
- 45:22And so, literally,
- 45:23they started eating our poop,
- 45:24and then we, like,
- 45:26in the house,
- 45:27in the family,
- 45:28if somebody has an
- 45:30ab-barrant problem
- 45:31with their microbiome,
- 45:32that's going to share
- 45:34amongst the family to some degree,
- 45:36same thing with their dogs,
- 45:37right?
- 45:38If somebody comes down
- 45:39with some evil bacteria,
- 45:41that has the potential to
- 45:43shed through the entire household.
- 45:45That's amazing.
- 45:46It's such, I mean,
- 45:47and then the,
- 45:48but the dog is really good
- 45:49for the microbiome,
- 45:50the home.
- 45:51If you're not spraying pesticides
- 45:52and herbicides,
- 45:53yeah.
- 45:54Outside your home,
- 45:55so that's one of the more dangerous.
- 45:56If you have a pet,
- 45:57don't use roundup,
- 45:59or they got rid of glyphosate,
- 46:01but all the other toxic,
- 46:02Alzheimer's causing chemicals
- 46:04that are inside of there,
- 46:06and your pet's going to be more sensitive to it,
- 46:07right?
- 46:08They insecticides,
- 46:09because they're going to,
- 46:10one,
- 46:11it's going to poison them,
- 46:12yes, because of their bodies,
- 46:13and they're smaller,
- 46:14and cause disease more quickly,
- 46:16and two,
- 46:17they're going to drag it into your home.
- 46:18Yes.
- 46:19Or, if you have a natural outdoors
- 46:21in garden,
- 46:22you're not spraying,
- 46:23you're not putting,
- 46:24this is on your grass,
- 46:25like weed and feed is toxic.
- 46:26Yes.
- 46:27They have carcinogenic,
- 46:29neuro-logical,
- 46:31disruptive chemicals
- 46:33that they're going to bring
- 46:34into your dust load.
- 46:35They're going to be looking
- 46:36their paws
- 46:37and getting it in their body.
- 46:38If you have young children
- 46:39that's going to get in their body,
- 46:40they're going to bring that
- 46:41toxic dust into your home.
- 46:43They're not taking their shoes off.
- 46:45No.
- 46:46Right?
- 46:47And you might not be either,
- 46:48and you're dragging that in.
- 46:49That's why you should always
- 46:50take your shoes off,
- 46:51and you go from walking
- 46:52around outside.
- 46:53Agreed.
- 46:54And so, it's hard on,
- 46:55hard on the animals,
- 46:56hard on you,
- 46:57and it's benefiting the home
- 47:00microbiome,
- 47:01if the opposite is true,
- 47:02if you have a natural outdoors
- 47:04in garden and grass,
- 47:05the dogs are going to bring
- 47:07in good,
- 47:08soil-based organisms
- 47:09that your body needs.
- 47:10Right.
- 47:11And create a good,
- 47:12healthy microbiome
- 47:14in your home,
- 47:15because you have a home biome,
- 47:16right?
- 47:17Our feats of a family
- 47:19are all going to be the same
- 47:20bacteria,
- 47:21because that's where we walk.
- 47:22That's the only thing
- 47:23that's the same.
- 47:24Yes.
- 47:25That my microbiome is different
- 47:26everywhere else in my body,
- 47:27but our feet are the same,
- 47:28because it's the floor.
- 47:29It's in contact
- 47:30with the surface.
- 47:31And we share that microbiome.
- 47:32Right on.
- 47:33And all those chemicals.
- 47:34Yeah, so I mean,
- 47:35that's the thing.
- 47:36Live near a golf course.
- 47:37Don't walk your dog
- 47:38on the golf course.
- 47:39Yeah.
- 47:40If you do,
- 47:41please, please, please,
- 47:42wipe them down.
- 47:43So anywhere you can see
- 47:44weeds growing in the grass,
- 47:45that's the place to be
- 47:46with your dog.
- 47:47Yeah.
- 47:48I don't let my kids walk
- 47:49on nice grass or whatever.
- 47:50I'm like, my daughter,
- 47:51I'd pull them off.
- 47:52Yeah.
- 47:53And they want to walk there.
- 47:54Like if we're on a walk outside,
- 47:55I'm like,
- 47:56they try to walk on a yard
- 47:57that's been sprayed
- 47:58and I yank her off,
- 47:59because not only is that
- 48:00going to get her,
- 48:01because I have three daughters,
- 48:02but that if they were the shoes
- 48:04just inside,
- 48:05even we take them off,
- 48:06it's still pulling those toxins
- 48:08in the home.
- 48:09I'm very cognizant of that.
- 48:10And dogs, same thing.
- 48:11Right.
- 48:12They're going to let them
- 48:13go piece somewhere,
- 48:14make sure they don't,
- 48:15they pee on the natural grass,
- 48:16or the, you know,
- 48:17somewhere where it's not
- 48:18a perfect,
- 48:19because they will kill someone's grass.
- 48:20Yeah.
- 48:21Yeah.
- 48:22So, yeah.
- 48:23And that's it.
- 48:24I mean, so ideally for dogs,
- 48:25every time you go out for a walk,
- 48:26have a,
- 48:27a damp hand towel sitting
- 48:29at the door for when you come back,
- 48:31wipe your entire dog down
- 48:33and its feet,
- 48:34and just take that stuff off
- 48:36before you and cross the threshold.
- 48:38That's so easy to do.
- 48:39Yeah.
- 48:40It takes a few minutes.
- 48:41That's it.
- 48:42You can leave it right there
- 48:43and last for a couple of days
- 48:44and then change it out.
- 48:45Yeah.
- 48:46Part of the responsibility of
- 48:47for you and for the pet.
- 48:48So, um,
- 48:50probiotics.
- 48:51This is humerian.
- 48:52So we'll be,
- 48:53uh,
- 48:54really powerful number one,
- 48:55like one of the number one
- 48:56on Amazon.
- 48:57Um,
- 48:58so they're one of the sponsors
- 48:59of this show.
- 49:00I wanted to give them a shout out.
- 49:02So really,
- 49:03really high quality,
- 49:04uh, probiotics,
- 49:05uh, proven to get into the
- 49:07small intestine.
- 49:08They, you know,
- 49:09cause acid kills probiotics.
- 49:11That doesn't happen
- 49:12with these probiotics.
- 49:13So that's pretty cool.
- 49:14And then you also told me
- 49:15as far as supplements,
- 49:16you,
- 49:17I don't know if we can
- 49:18talk about this or not,
- 49:19but sure.
- 49:20You used, uh,
- 49:21my patented ZLA.
- 49:23Yeah.
- 49:24So your,
- 49:25the, uh,
- 49:27the cytodetox
- 49:28is super easy for pets
- 49:30because we're able to use
- 49:32such a small volume.
- 49:33I just found that out today.
- 49:34I know.
- 49:35I know.
- 49:36Yes.
- 49:37I didn't even know you were
- 49:38doing this.
- 49:39Yeah.
- 49:40No.
- 49:41It's, and it's awesome
- 49:42because, uh, especially
- 49:43for cats,
- 49:44it's,
- 49:45glycerin based.
- 49:46And so it's got that little
- 49:47sweet taste.
- 49:48Cats are actually
- 49:49sugar addicts
- 49:50if they let get run wild
- 49:51because of the way we've
- 49:52been feeding them.
- 49:53But it's an easy,
- 49:54easy solution
- 49:55to help your pet detox
- 49:57and have something
- 49:58that you know is clean
- 49:59with other toxins
- 50:00in with it.
- 50:01And it's going
- 50:02to pull out all
- 50:03of the bad stuff,
- 50:04not only herbicides
- 50:05pesticides,
- 50:06but also heavy metals,
- 50:08all of the things
- 50:09that are difficult
- 50:10to get adhere
- 50:11to some other products.
- 50:13So it's a super easy
- 50:15product to use for pets
- 50:16very safe.
- 50:18Amazing.
- 50:19Yeah.
- 50:20Even though we're doing that
- 50:21supports your pet's
- 50:22natural ability
- 50:23to detoxify.
- 50:24That's it.
- 50:25That's it.
- 50:26Yeah.
- 50:27Because they do have an ability
- 50:28to help in hand.
- 50:29And that's, and I'm,
- 50:30it blesses me
- 50:31to know that, you know,
- 50:33it's helping your,
- 50:34your pet families
- 50:36and pet friends
- 50:37and it's really cool.
- 50:39I didn't even
- 50:40ever think about it.
- 50:41Like it's so, you know,
- 50:42I get locked
- 50:43into natural health
- 50:44and helping individuals
- 50:45remove, first of all,
- 50:47like remove,
- 50:48like you said with food,
- 50:49you have to start
- 50:51with the major things.
- 50:52And the major things
- 50:53when it comes to human health
- 50:54is removing the toxins
- 50:55that you're being exposed to.
- 50:58Let's lower that load.
- 50:59Because your body
- 51:00has this amazing ability,
- 51:01yes, to detoxify,
- 51:02naturally detoxifies you.
- 51:04If you remove the sources
- 51:05of toxicity,
- 51:06same with our pets.
- 51:07And the biggest source
- 51:08seems to be food.
- 51:09And then we have
- 51:10supplements that actually work.
- 51:11If you know,
- 51:12that's helpful.
- 51:13Yeah.
- 51:14And this, like a lot
- 51:15of supplements,
- 51:16they're full of poisons.
- 51:17Therefore, of natural,
- 51:18natural and official flavors,
- 51:20wheat germ, you know,
- 51:22like things
- 51:23that really don't belong
- 51:24in pet products.
- 51:26You read it
- 51:27and you're like,
- 51:28oh my gosh, like I wouldn't eat this.
- 51:29If you wouldn't eat it,
- 51:30don't give it to your pet.
- 51:31Yeah.
- 51:32And I think that's what's critical.
- 51:33Like the supplement industry,
- 51:35especially on the pet side,
- 51:37is what they're after
- 51:39is palatability.
- 51:41And all of the things
- 51:42that enhance palatability
- 51:43to get your dog
- 51:44to eat it,
- 51:45to cat to eat it
- 51:46are usually really
- 51:47yucky things.
- 51:48So that's why,
- 51:49when I use a supplement,
- 51:51when I create a supplement,
- 51:52I try to have just
- 51:54the active ingredients
- 51:55that are going to
- 51:56be important.
- 51:57And then,
- 51:58if I need to figure out
- 51:59how to make it taste better,
- 52:00then use some actual food.
- 52:02Here's some food?
- 52:03Yeah.
- 52:04But that's why,
- 52:05I mean,
- 52:06credit costs more,
- 52:07and it lowers the,
- 52:08raises the price point
- 52:09and decreases profits.
- 52:10Well, that's it.
- 52:11And so, you can buy
- 52:12all sorts of
- 52:13probiotic chews
- 52:14on the market,
- 52:15and mostly what you're buying
- 52:16is flaxseed.
- 52:17Do we tell me about that?
- 52:18Like, what does that mean?
- 52:19So, so if you look
- 52:20at most of the chews
- 52:21on the market,
- 52:22in order to get them
- 52:24to form into a chew,
- 52:25you have to have
- 52:26things that will
- 52:27keep it squished together.
- 52:28And often,
- 52:29it's flaxseed,
- 52:30and then they'll
- 52:31put some sort of
- 52:33sweetener there.
- 52:34It's gotten a bit better.
- 52:35It used to be
- 52:36purpline glycol.
- 52:37And then,
- 52:38that was a years ago.
- 52:39I mean, all of the
- 52:40bad stuff.
- 52:41Yeah, all the bad stuff
- 52:42on the human side
- 52:43gets shuffled down
- 52:44to the pet industry
- 52:45until pet parents say,
- 52:46no, I'm not buying this.
- 52:48Yeah.
- 52:49And so,
- 52:50that's the crucial thing.
- 52:51It's like,
- 52:52look at the supplement
- 52:53and it'll list,
- 52:54if it's good,
- 52:55it'll list the individual
- 52:56ingredients
- 52:57and give you an idea.
- 52:58Some folks go
- 52:59with proprietary
- 53:00and I get that too,
- 53:01because we want to keep
- 53:02our products intact
- 53:04and high quality.
- 53:06But,
- 53:07if what you're seeing
- 53:08is flaxseed,
- 53:09oatmeal,
- 53:10fillers,
- 53:11wheat germ,
- 53:12you know,
- 53:14all the stuff,
- 53:16that's not going to be
- 53:17a good game plan
- 53:18for your pet.
- 53:19Because,
- 53:20one of the things
- 53:21that we're fighting
- 53:22left, right and center
- 53:23is leaky gut
- 53:24or intestinal dysbiosis.
- 53:26And so,
- 53:27if you throw things
- 53:28in there,
- 53:29that are going to alter
- 53:30the microbiome,
- 53:31boom, you're all
- 53:33of the work you've
- 53:34just been doing
- 53:35is just shot.
- 53:36So,
- 53:37the pet choose
- 53:38that had
- 53:39probiotics
- 53:40and they're kind
- 53:41of canceling each other.
- 53:42It's not a good pet
- 53:43probiotic.
- 53:44Right.
- 53:45And often,
- 53:46those are the ones
- 53:47that also have
- 53:48all of these digestive
- 53:49enzymes
- 53:50put in there
- 53:51and really what they're
- 53:52doing is marketing
- 53:53to you the pet parent.
- 53:54You know a few
- 53:55of the words
- 53:56that you're looking for,
- 53:57and you look at the product
- 53:58and say,
- 53:59oh, it has X,
- 54:00Y, and Z,
- 54:01super, I'll buy it.
- 54:02But what you're not,
- 54:03you have not
- 54:04learned yet,
- 54:05and I hope you have now,
- 54:06is that you need
- 54:07to read the ingredients.
- 54:08And if you have a
- 54:09picky pet,
- 54:10then buy something
- 54:11that you can deliver
- 54:12the smallest possible
- 54:14dose
- 54:15of the actual
- 54:16active ingredient
- 54:17and hide that in food.
- 54:18Hide that in liver.
- 54:19Hide it in salmon
- 54:20pate.
- 54:21There's a myriad
- 54:22of things you can do
- 54:23to have a wise investment
- 54:25and a hugely
- 54:27more efficacious product.
- 54:29I'd love that.
- 54:30That's why I love
- 54:31you, Mary.
- 54:32Ten times the
- 54:33absorbability,
- 54:34the bugs don't die
- 54:35and is much in the gut.
- 54:36Right.
- 54:37So here's the other
- 54:38interesting thing.
- 54:39So this is designed
- 54:40to get through the stomach
- 54:41acid.
- 54:42And so the deal
- 54:43with raw food,
- 54:44and I'm going to take
- 54:45us back there for a second,
- 54:46is that we love it
- 54:47because all of these
- 54:48enzymes and a healthy
- 54:50microbiome of the meat.
- 54:51What does stomach acid
- 54:54do to bugs?
- 54:55Kill it.
- 54:56What does stomach acid
- 54:58do to protein?
- 54:59Breaks it down.
- 55:01So all of these things
- 55:03that have been promoted
- 55:04by the raw food industry
- 55:06aren't actually happening.
- 55:07Ah, yeah.
- 55:08Because especially
- 55:09the dog stomachs.
- 55:10Yeah.
- 55:11So they're just going to
- 55:12wipe out the raw food anyway.
- 55:14And that's what I mean,
- 55:15like raw,
- 55:16a dog, a lot of food
- 55:17is more nutritious
- 55:18if you steam it
- 55:19and cook it.
- 55:20Right.
- 55:21Because you can access
- 55:22the nutrients.
- 55:23And I don't buy the oxalate
- 55:24thing.
- 55:25Like I'm not like everyone's
- 55:26like function medicine doctors
- 55:27always say, well don't eat
- 55:28those tomatoes.
- 55:29They have oxalates.
- 55:30Like, yeah, maybe if you're
- 55:31an over, you know,
- 55:32if your genetics are off
- 55:33or you eat way too many raw
- 55:35things.
- 55:36But I steam all my vegetables.
- 55:38Right on.
- 55:39Or you can freeze them.
- 55:40Or, you know,
- 55:41there's lots of ways
- 55:42to break that down
- 55:43so that you don't,
- 55:44you have much less
- 55:45of that.
- 55:46So they're getting
- 55:47all the antioxidants,
- 55:48the flavonoids,
- 55:49like all these things
- 55:50that you need.
- 55:51You can't live with them.
- 55:52I mean, they're,
- 55:53it's so important
- 55:54for the pet.
- 55:55It is so important
- 55:56for you.
- 55:57Right.
- 55:58So I mean,
- 55:59the polyphenols.
- 56:00So they're eating their
- 56:01rainbow.
- 56:02The polyphenols
- 56:03aren't to nourish us.
- 56:04They're to nourish your
- 56:05microbiome.
- 56:06And it's the same thing.
- 56:07Dogs and cats need this
- 56:08as well.
- 56:09They don't need the
- 56:10vegetable cats in particular.
- 56:11Obligate carnivores.
- 56:12They don't need a ton
- 56:13of vegetable matter.
- 56:14But they need some
- 56:15because they need grass.
- 56:17And, you know,
- 56:18and the,
- 56:19if they're hunters
- 56:20and they're eating
- 56:21the guts of whatever's
- 56:22there.
- 56:23I mean, I had a cat
- 56:24that loved everything.
- 56:25He loved cantaloupe.
- 56:26He loved tomatoes.
- 56:27I had my,
- 56:28my feral cat just
- 56:30caught an animal
- 56:31and I was left
- 56:32with the tail.
- 56:33Yeah.
- 56:34That's it.
- 56:35Yeah.
- 56:36But that's a thing.
- 56:37I mean, so that's cats
- 56:38doing their cat thing,
- 56:39right?
- 56:40Yeah.
- 56:41But this is where
- 56:42I think raw feeding is
- 56:43missing the boat
- 56:44and it's interesting
- 56:45there.
- 56:46That makes sense.
- 56:47Yeah.
- 56:48That's a nice,
- 56:49that's a good argument.
- 56:50I'd have to say.
- 56:51Yeah.
- 56:52Yeah.
- 56:53Even in the human raw,
- 56:54you know,
- 56:55side of things.
- 56:56And I do like raw vegetables
- 56:57like ton of gardener tomatoes
- 56:58and raw egg carrots
- 56:59and I try not
- 57:00to wash them
- 57:01because I forgot to get
- 57:02some of those
- 57:03soil-based organisms.
- 57:04We're kind of getting
- 57:05off-check.
- 57:06Oh.
- 57:07So this is shocking.
- 57:08So this was a wonderful
- 57:09conversation.
- 57:10I've learned so much
- 57:11for you.
- 57:12So one final statement
- 57:14you want to make to all those
- 57:15pet parents out there,
- 57:16what would it be?
- 57:17Trust yourself.
- 57:18Yeah.
- 57:19You know, you know
- 57:20when the advice you're getting
- 57:21is not quite right.
- 57:23And give yourself
- 57:24the grace of taking a breath
- 57:26before you make a decision.
- 57:28That's great advice.
- 57:30So share this
- 57:31with all your pet friends
- 57:33and other pet parents out there.
- 57:34This is an amazing.
