- 0:05SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: I'm actually gonna move into the office.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know how many people are joining me because it's gonna be in the zoom mode anyway.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Um pretty loud.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: I don't hear it at all.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I can't hear you.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I think you're muted.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Oh I'm muted?
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I think you're muted.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Unless there's something on my side.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I don't think I muted.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: I can't hear anything.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Let me see.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Um it doesn't say you muted.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I don't know what's going on.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: You can hear me, right?
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I'll just get started, I guess.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know what's going on.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Um, so I am a big fan of creating slideshows, um, if you can't tell already.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: So this is a high performance masterclass for this week, and I realized by several different conversations this week how many people struggle with time blocking.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Um I talked to a seven-figure entrepreneur yesterday who was telling me she struggles with time blocking and like just is kind of lackluster with how she spends her time, which also like goes to show you that you can you know build a successful business without it, but it definitely helps.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Um and then especially if you have like other obligations, you have a family, you have um sports, extra circulars, etc.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Whatever.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: So I want to really go really in depth on time blocking.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Um and I also like like I mentioned before, I I didn't realize how strategic my time blocking is uh until I made this until I made this presentation, when I was really thinking about like what is every tiny little thing that makes my time blocking effective.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And uh today my goal is to give those to you.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: So uh mastering time blocking is what you're gonna achieve, unlocking your potential for maximum maximum productivity, achieving goals, gaining control of your time and achieving your goals, and boosting your productivity.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: That's ultimately the reason we master time blocking is to boost productivity.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: The reason we boost productivity is to make more money, is to uh have more fulfillment, is to have more control of our time and so on, um, and achieving more and less time.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So let me go here.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Um here we go.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: So, first of all, why should you care about time blocking?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Why does it matter?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: The first is reclaiming your time.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I I hear this all the time with like entrepreneurs, many entrepreneurs quit a 9 to 5, working, you know, 9 to 5, 40 hours a week, to give themselves a 5 to 9, a 5 a.m.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: to 9 p.m.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: So instead, what I'm gonna try and do is try to help you reclaim your time and take control of your schedule, which in turn will reduce overwhelm, uh, minimize stress and anxiety.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: This minimizes anxiety so much for me because I literally I wake up, I look at my calendar, what's on my calendar, I go do it rather than okay, having an empty calendar, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Because the thing is, like as a business owner, we have 50 different priorities, but getting those in order, one, two, three, like these are the main things I need to do that immediately, overnight will double your productivity and ultimately achieve real results.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Like um, Felix, I know you're going with the going through the pitch deck right now.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: You're working on getting that done.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Um, like if you're time blocking, that'll help you tremendously.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Um this is almost the same, it's pretty similar.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: So playing ahead to boost clarity and productivity.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: The main thing that I've seen people, the main mistake I've seen people make is time blocking the same day.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: And time blocking the same day is such a massive, massive, massive mistake.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Because if you're time blocking the same day, most most likely it's in the morning because you're not gonna you know go through your whole day and then time block.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Um and for me, like I don't wake up with that much clarity in the morning.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: I would rather wake up and have my calendar.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: So let me go to today actually.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Uh day.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Have my calendar ahead of me.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: So like this morning I went to an event, then I had my gym workout, then I uh am working on this course, and I built a VSL and so on.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: And like literally, I don't have to think about what I'm gonna do because it's already planned out.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And um, so there's two really two different ways you can do this.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: And one of them is planning time blocks the night before, the other is planning time blocks the the week before.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: It really depends on where you're at in your business.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: If your business is pretty consistent with your tasks on a day-to-day, um day-to-day basis, like you can probably do it a week before, like Felix, you know, with building this pitch deck as like the main number one thing, taking up at least ideally 80% of your time.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Uh um, I'm gonna make sure this is oh shit I didn't I never even watch my calendar.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Oops.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, I mean with you having like the same thing every single day, you can probably plan it the week before, which what I do is I just plan on a on a Sunday.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Uh we went through this before, but basically, um you're gonna categorize them into five categories, which are health, uh health, what is it, health, family, finance, spiritual, and business.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Like, what do I need to do in each of these categories?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Write those down and then put those into your um into your calendar on your Google Calendar, on your Apple Calendar, whatever, whatever it is you use.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: This will inevitably lead to uh reducing procrastination because again, you're going through your day, your week, knowing what you need to do.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Um and so here's here's one of the things that is more tactical that I that is is more kind of advanced.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: And it's start your day by eating the frog.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And so that that does mean eating this cute little guy right here.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Um, unfortunately, he does have to to he doesn't taste very yummy, but it it does work.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Um so basically tackle the hardest and most important task first.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Um oftentimes is not necessarily the hardest, it's the it's the one that you would procrastinate the most, right?
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: So most business owners can think of what this is.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Um, most small business owners, the main task is promoting, right?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Um, letting people know you exist, letting people know what you do.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: And so um that might be sending a hundred DMs in the morning.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: That might be um probably not making calls if you're up at like six or seven or whatever it is, right?
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: But like tackle your hardest and or uh tasks that you would most uh procrastinate.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Um again, this reduces procrastination and it builds momentum.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: And to implement this, um, identify your top priority tasks.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: So write all your tasks down and then make it your first focus block.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Any questions here?
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Um, and then key components of effective time blocking.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So you want to treat time blocks as unbreakable commitments, uh, because otherwise it's like literally just it's just something on your calendar that is cool to look at.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Like um, if you go to mine, like oh cool, I have a rainbow, right?
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Dang.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Um but you know, and that's that's all it is.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: It's literally a rainbow, and that's all it is if if I'm not following it, right?
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So um, and then you also what you want to prioritize by impact.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Again, we're gonna have as entrepreneurs 50 different um priority priorities, and many of you guys have probably heard of the 8020 rule.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: That is cliche because it works.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: I don't think for a reason, it's because they work, right?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: So prioritized by impact, then categorize your time.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Um, if we go to my calendar, uh share this tab.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: So if yeah, if you go to my calendar, you'll see I have different tabs, right?
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: So it's health, spiritual, driving, meetings, admin sales, product, and so on, right?
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: Um perfect.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And so definitely want to do that for sure.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Um, just because what I like to do is like a weekly review, like what did I do to last week?
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Is this in is this aligned with my with my high uh impact prior uh priorities?
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: If not, how can I uh change you know in the next week?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: You can even do this daily, like review your last day.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Was this as impactful as I wanted it to be, right?
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Make your manager time.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: This is massive.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: This is I would honestly say this might be if you do nothing else, this might be the most important thing to do.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Make your manager time is so make your time is unerrupt uninterrupted time for deep creative work.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: This is time where no one is distracting you.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: So if it's if you're working on a pitch deck, if you're working on content, if you're working on building a product, building a course, building a blog, like whatever it is, right?
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Your deepest work is in maker time.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: And ideally, you have full days dedicated to maker time.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Ideally, it's the majority of your days because that's where uh the needles really moved, right?
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And then there's manager time.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: As an entrepreneur, it's inevitable that we will have to take meetings, we'll have to answer emails, we'll have to communicate, whether on text, Slack, email, like whatever it is, right?
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: That's manager time.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: And there's different ways you can do this, but the two best ways to do this are one, if you can set a full day to manager time, um, or however long it takes you, right?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: So if it only takes you half a day, just set a half day.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: But the idea is let's say I have five meetings this week, instead of setting one meeting each day, right?
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, or Thursday, Friday, miss Thursday, um, you're gonna want to set them all like back to back to back to back on one day.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Because then you're gonna get all that meeting energy out in one day, and you're gonna be able to use the rest of your days for maker time.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, so best practice if you can't do this, um if you cannot put all your manager time in one day, then put your maker time in the morning for focus, and then put your uh your manager time into in the evening, where it's you know, you're taking meetings from two to five, let's say, right?
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Or you have you have five, you have five hours of meetings, right?
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: So and you want to end your day at I don't know, five, seven, whatever it is, right?
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Let's say five.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Instead of putting a meeting at eight, ten, twelve, one, and three, try if you can, to put it like twelve, one, two, three, four, five, right?
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: So that way you have the maker time in the morning, and then you go into your uh manager time schedule.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Now building your ideal weekly schedule.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Again, step one, block out your maker and manager times.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Step two, set up non-negotiable blocks.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Usually these are um your your your your maker times.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: So the most important task that you have to do.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Uh and then step three, add buffer zones between blocks because there are like things that are gonna pop up.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have to use a restroom, you're gonna have to eat, you're gonna have to uh go get water, you're gonna have to uh maybe you're feeling like a little bit tired.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: With with that last one, feeling a little bit tired.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: I would try to also block that in.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Like if you want to go for a quick quick walk, um, even a quick nap, right?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Block that into your schedule.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, so like I would add typically what I what I like to do actually, and you should be able to say this on my calendar.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: So let me share my calendar again.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: So you'll see at uh at 3 p.m.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: I stopped creating my VSL.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I wrote my uh email plus daily school post, and then I had lunch and a walk, right?
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: And before I created a VSL, I also had a walk.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: So every single time I switch tasks, um, I try to kind of take my brain away from work so that I can go back into my new task uh with renewed energy, right?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: So okay, and yeah, I I didn't even notice it was the next slide.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: I was already talking about it.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Uh so recharge and refocus with breaks, uh, short breaks, refresh your mind with five to ten minute breaks.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I like taking like a 10-minute nap, uh, 10, 15, sometimes like 30-minute walk.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously, you don't want to be walking like all day, right?
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: And the you still want to work, right?
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, walks clear your mind, reduce stress a lot, a lot, especially in nature.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: I like to walk outside, nature, no phone, no music, no nothing.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Just gives me time to think, get clarity, right?
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: And this is one thing that you don't have to do, but it has been very beneficial for me, and that's a midday workout.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: So basically, I work from around 6 a.m.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: to one-ish.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: And in the middle of the day, I take a workout, I'll go, I'll go to the gym for a couple hours, lift, whatever, right?
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: I come back and my energy is renewed.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Instead of uh using mental energy, I was using physical energy, and so now my mental energy is ready to go back to work again.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Um, and yeah, this recharges energy levels, improves focus, and supports physical health.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Common pitfalls and how to avoid them.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: I've fallen into each one of these, so I speak from experience.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Overcommitting, um, avoid overcommitting tasks in one block.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: So this can be really hard because you also want to make sure you're being efficient.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: You don't you don't want to give yourself two hours for something that realistically you can get done in an hour because then that's gonna lead to procrastination, because then you set too much time for a block that really doesn't require that much time, right?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Um, but you also don't want to be setting like three different things at one time, like 11:30 to 130.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be setting three different things, right?
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Um interruptions.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I said earlier, make your manager time is the most important thing.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: This might I think this would definitely be that that would this would take the throne.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Interruptions would take the throne for being the most important.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Having this, having your phone at your desk kills lives, honestly.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Like people get nothing done in their day because they have their phone next to them that has text messages, emails, uh uh Instagram, whatever it is, right?
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: So protect your blocks from interruptions and protect your time in general, whether it's a maker manager time, uh, whatever like you're doing, no matter what, protect your blocks from interruptions.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: Um, and honestly, like I don't like using my phone during the day at all, like in like social media at least, because it's just giving me content that I don't need throughout a day, right?
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: So it's it's it's just feeding me stuff that I don't need that's not helping me be more productive, and so it just it's not worth it.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: Um and skipping blocks.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: Obviously, like there's gonna be times where hey, I you know have to go to the doctor, I'm really not feeling well, what like whatever it is, right?
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Um, where you have to skip a block, but really, really, really want to emphasize treat your blocks like appointments.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Like imagine you're going into meet with uh a I don't know, think about your role model, like if it's uh Alex Ramos, if it's Jeff Bezos, if it's uh think about Jesus, you know.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: Imagine you have a block a time block with Jesus, right?
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: Are you gonna make it to that appointment?
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Probably, right?
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: So imagine it's the same thing, but this is a commitment you've made to yourself, right?
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: And obviously, I don't want you to think you're Jesus either.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: You're not, and neither am I.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: So but um here are some more advanced techniques for high performance batching tasks.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: This is also huge.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Um, group similar tasks that say in flow.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: So you'll notice if you go to my calendar again.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Um like so here, right?
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Uh this is content, right?
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: So I'm creating a course, that's content.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: I'm creating a VSL, that's content.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: The master class, that's content.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: Um, before this, I had a meeting with Felix, right?
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: That's a meeting.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Now I have this, which is also a meetingslash content, right?
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Then I have a uh another meeting actually at 6 15, which I just forgot I forgot about until I just I just saw that.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Um so like same thing here, right?
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: And I I I'll also know I'll also note here the reason I went to the gym in the morning today is because what I've noticed is if I don't have meetings after a meeting block, I it's so hard to get back into a maker block.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And so I go and exercise, I reset my mental energy, get some physical energy out, and then by the time I get back, I'm ready to go.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: So that's I want to clarify that as well.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: I think that's big as well.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Um, and then daily reflection reflection.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: We talked about this a little bit earlier, but end each day with a quick review.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Um, this can literally just be like five, 10 minutes looking over what you did the last day.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: Did you accomplish everything you wanted to accomplish?
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Um, did you get everything done you wanted to get done?
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: And if not, if if well, either way, if so, if not, how can I do the same thing or how can I improve the next day, right?
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: And then the third is time honest, and this is where categories come in, right?
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: I think you can see this now.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: So again, health, spiritual driving meetings, etc.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: etc.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: etc.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Right, that's where those come in because then you can really track your time um spent versus planned.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure if anyone knows of an app that like can track your location and everything, but like track like, hey, you were supposed to be here at this time, but you were here.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: That would be super helpful.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Um, because right now I just kind of do that manually, but I'm sure something like that exists.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: So um here's a quick rehap recap and key takeaways.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: Plan ahead, block time either the night before or the week before.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: Start with your most important task and/or the task that you're most likely to procrastinate.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Um schedule blocks for deep work and administrative tasks.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: This is probably the most boring part of being an entrepreneur for me.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Like, there's there's people that like thrive on being an operator, like just answering emails and like all that's not me.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Um, but you do need to you do need to schedule time for administrative tasks, and really these shouldn't be in the same sentence because I don't feel like deep work is the same as administrative tasks.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: When I think of administrative tasks, I think like answering emails, uh scheduling meetings and that kind of thing.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Versus deep work is your most important work, is uh is the work that's gonna move the needle most, right?
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Um take breaks, take short walks, quick breaks, quick naps.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and if if you want to take take a quick midday workout, definitely helps me a lot.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Um and so yeah, now that's that's everything.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: I actually wanted to open the floor, and I think what would be really, really helpful um is if you guys have a calendar.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Um, so Felix, if you have a calendar that you want me to uh look at and help you create a schedule, uh we have until like I said, I have a meeting at 6 15, but we can do that real quick.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Would you want to do that?
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Um I don't can you hear me?
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: I don't know, I can't still I still can't hear you.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: I don't think you're muted, yeah.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: You're not muted.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, here we go.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, talk again.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, you can hear me now?
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: I can hear you now.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Okay, perfect.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: Um I don't really have like uh like I have like a handwritten like kind of uh schedule.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: jeweler but I don't have like a digital um thing and like my my handwritten one is definitely nowhere close to being like as in depth as yours what are your what are your tasks like each day like for me um yeah like from Monday to Friday I always start with like morning prayer at six okay the thing with that is like it's hard to put a time on that because sometimes depends on like who's there at the the morning prayers like it could go it could go pretty late after like than usual if you what's like the typical range I would say like 8 30 I like I get home okay wow okay that's awesome um with something like that that that that kind of reminds me of like again what I was talking about with them like my meeting today right where it's hard for me to go from that sort of energy to creative energy or deep work energy and so for me what's what really helps is going to the gym getting uh resetting my mental energy and getting the physical energy out do you think something like that would be at all possible I know you said you don't work out too much but um I mean like um would like eating be a reset because I usually do eat after I would say eating without your phone without anything without any distractions just eating trying to hone in to like being very intentional like with you with your task and then ideally at least going for like a I don't know 15 minute walk okay is really is really beneficial as well um so and then just because just because I know you know we just obviously met um but like after that I would say with with you you know working on that pitch deck and getting that trying to get that done and it and funded like this month yeah that that seems like it should be you know your most your majority of your day.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: So um like I would say like go to your prayer go either workout or breakfast and um like a a quick walk or in some cases a quick nap.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: I think naps are naps are tricky because I don't know naps I don't even describe it.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: But yeah so bad like sometimes I like plan a nap and it's like an hour goes by and you're like whoa oh yeah I mean definitely like definitely set an alarm and it's it's crazy how like I take a 10 minute nap and it feels like I've been asleep for like a whole night.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: It's it's like for me like obviously that I'm sure it's not for everyone but for me that's typically how it is so definitely felt that before but it's not always like sometimes I wake up and it's just like my body's like you'd want to go to bed right like after that which is like uh crazy but yeah no I feel like the one thing I'm like thinking a lot about is like setting the because you have like you have like a I guess like a really good estimate of how long it takes you to do each thing.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Like for me I don't like set a constraint on it.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: Like in my mind I feel like I've been since I'm like the I make my own schedule I just like say I'm just gonna start working on it at this time and then I don't give myself like an an end time.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: So I I try there are tasks that take longer.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: I try to stay to around two hour time blocks that I work there are obviously tasks that like you have to chunk it down so like they take 10 hours or whatever, right?
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Um and I think by the time you get three four five six hours in like your productivity just going to go way down because you're uh just mentally fatigued.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: And so it's it's it's not necessarily that you're gonna complete the task in that amount of time but it's that you can have that amount of time of focus time of focus energy on it versus having like okay I'm gonna get it it's gonna take me 10 hours I'm gonna set a 10 hour block um to get this done today.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: So it's more about like having that focus time than necessarily getting the task done obviously you know getting tasks done is ideal but it also again depends on the task.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: So um okay okay and I did want to I think this is the last slide yeah I wanted to give you guys a quick challenge which is implement time blocking for the next seven days um I would honestly I would say 21 days and the reason I say 21 days is because 21 days uh I think I've seen before is like that's how long it takes to create a habit.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: And so I think if you guys can make this into a habit then it'll become a habit and you'll be able to double your productivity um relieve some stress relieve some anxiety um relieve procrastination um and then I want you to also be intentional right in in observing your changes like maybe that means journaling maybe that just means like taking a second to notice hey I'm actually much more productive this week than I was last week and I'm doing this new thing.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: And then share your results or questions in the community for feedback.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: So um like literally you can go here and uh I don't know productivity check no I'm not I always forget to change a topic productivity check in right uh day five week is going great I can't spell productivity has skyrocketed like whatever you want to say right and I I always like to put a cute little or I say um cute little gif right and just yeah but which is this is kind of fitting like woohoo right like it make it fun right like we're entrepreneurs but that doesn't mean we don't like to have fun too right like you know so it's um mine would probably be like pray for me I am so lazy today but yeah I definitely we might need to start a because I know we have we have a men's group on on on Monday mornings um but we might need to start like a I also want to serve the women right like that are in the in the in the in the community which I think we are we're probably 90% men 10% women but um don't be like there's a there's a men's group like for this for this group yeah there's it's not necessarily for this group but it's with my pastor um okay who he he's super cool I mean he was uh Indianapolis Colts chaplain for 30 years he was an evangelist he was a former cop like he's he has he has a lifetime of experience um so I'm actually traveling with him next year um because he used to travel like two uh he told me he did like 200 events a year internationally as an evangelist and so I'm traveling with him next year we're gonna be doing some doing some speaking speaking at conferences and whatnot I don't think it's gonna be directly evangelical um but it should be I mean really cool and I'm sure it'll be like in some way evangelical as well like just in in directly or indirectly um but any any any more questions on because I feel like I went through a lot if you like if you do if you're going through a time block and you just like find that you are like just distracted like for majority of it like will you like add it to like the end of your day or something I would say at this point I am pretty good at not getting distracted with my time that doesn't mean that I don't miss block sometimes so like sometimes I'll be in a meeting that's a very powerful meeting that can that you know that's a strategic partnership or whatever it is right and like it might go over half an hour and then that like messes my uh a few of my other things up and like that kind of thing.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Um obviously like I said earlier you want to be careful to try to stick to your blocks as as as much as possible but I wouldn't necessarily say add it to the end of your day I would say probably add it to the next day it depends it depends on like what your day looks like too though like because I am typically busy uh either with ministry or with business from like or from like my own prayer would prayer life and everything um from like six to some nights it's like 11 um other nights it's like eight i i have been I've been trying to stop to be done working by eight um and actually getting into the routine of uh like a a nighttime routine and so let me get to my calendar so the I don't really follow all of this but I have a nighttime routine that I follow which is um I try to watch the sunset plus go on an evening walk which for me like right now is super early it's like 6 p.m and the sun's like already almost fully down right which you know it looks like it no it's yeah it's still up a little bit um warm warm shower actually has been incredibly helpful for me um yeah that helps me really cool down a bit I haven't been really reading um good to great recently um but that's a book I'm I'm reading right now I read I've been so I've been doing the proverb a day and then I'm reading through Luke I think I'm on Luke 25 right now um planning out the next day right now I do plan out the next day I've done the like plan by week thing before um talking to family this kind of just like helps you be more grounded be more intentional um and remember like why you're doing it right um turn off the lights obviously go to sleep obviously I've been I've been cutting back but I do sometimes watch uh I've been watching blacklist which is a pretty cool like crime show um but I don't I try not to do I try not to watch too much TV on like the on during the week so um unless oh true when it when it comes to like um even like making times for for friends like do you end up like changing like your work schedule because like how much of like or like do you like set like the weekend like for friends I take Sabbath on Sundays Saturdays I typically work um I I'm trying to get better and I think I I've been doing pretty good um but at taking Sabbath like evening to evening right just rather than just Sunday.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: But yeah typically like when I'm when I'm spending time with friends I will it's usually either Friday night um sometimes I go swing dancing Friday night I'm a big fan of that um and Saturdays sometimes I'll put together like a bowling outing or something but that's also in the evening like seven or eight right so like after I'm done working so yeah I definitely don't go out of my way to restructure my calendar to hang out with friends.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: Like I don't like I don't want that to sound bad but like there are sacrifices as an entrepreneur you know and as I like as I as I just said like I do great time for that sometimes although honestly like a lot of my time with friends it's just like doing uh service projects like ministry and everything um or at church like I'm my I go to a I'm I'm part of a small church plan I'm actually gonna be the uh youth slash like student pastor starting in December and so like we have a great little community there yeah and and just to be clear I'm not ordained so like I would be minister actually not a pastor um but yeah I'm I'm I've been thinking about getting ordained we'll see um but yeah so that's that's how I would and and I I mean like also going to yeah really my time with friends most of the time that I'm not doing like bowling or something it's just I have a men's group on Monday morning I have a men's group on Tuesday morning I have a young adult group on Thursday evening that I have this meet I have this meeting with my pastor um well actually my executive pastor in a few minutes and then I have like this young adult group um so like that's a that's a good time for community so I definitely think like community is massive is huge um I grew up with no community I grew up with uh severe social anxiety I was an outcast in the school of 7,000 I dropped out of high school and uh got my GD and so on and so definitely community is massive and that's how I've gotten not how but a big part of how I've gotten to where I am today um I've been able to I've been blessed to be around incredible mentors um who are business leaders uh pastors and so on within like my local sphere uh which is in Indianapolis Indiana and so yeah that's definitely been a huge thing like and again like I if you look at my calendar again um like this morning I went to an event uh a charity event that was annual Elevate Indianapolis they're uh um they're an organization that sh that uh serves like youth right and so um you know that was cool I saw some friends there I actually there's this guy that I saw there that I've been trying to meet with for like the last six months which not no nothing to like discredit him he just super super busy um but like we saw we saw each other he invited me to something tomorrow and now I'm gonna be able to meet with him after I haven't been able to meet with him for like six months.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: So um yeah so I mean definitely like making time for community is big but like I I personally recommend time blocking pretty much everything like if you look at my calendar again like I time block sleep right um sleep like your depends on your schedule you probably aren't gonna be able to do the exact same sleep hours every single day but try to keep it within like an hour or two at most there's actually science that says like you can your body can handle a change of like up to two hours um per night so like without messing up your circadian rhythms but circadian rhythms are huge huge I mean massive like because you can you can wake up and and and do this stuff but you're not gonna have energy if your sleep your sleep rhythms are all over the place.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: So um we have two minutes any final questions what would be the most helpful um yeah no I just I'm just like thinking about I'm like yeah I probably just need to schedule my day more because I feel like when I if I had like a like something to look to like this like it's for me it's like if I had like an event in the morning like that I'm like I'm kind of just lingering around after the event that's what I'm saying like that's that's yeah I've I've found out by trial and error by that that after an event it's very very very very hard to get back into deep work immediately.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: So that's why I go to the gym.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah and it's like hard for me to really measure like okay what's like important because like especially like with church there's so many things happening yeah um and it's like sometimes I'm like in my mind I'm like oh damn like do I really want to miss like that Bible study or something.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: But there's like I have yeah there's quite a few other opportunities to be at church but it's like it sucks it's like every time I go it's like dang like I I if I missed that that would suck.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: But yeah well I think a lot of it's honestly FOMO too like I I we've talked about before that I had a period of time where I was going to like an event a day um like a ministry event a day and I got burnt out and I didn't want to yeah like it and so I don't have my I don't think I have my calendar journal on me.
- 39:13SPEAKER_00: I use a different journal for like everything.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: So this is actually my business journal but um like in my in my in my spiritual journal I write down like every single thing I have that week which is like my my church my my own prayer life and so on.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: But I talked to all the events I go to I'm like okay what are the 8020 because 8020 can be applied to anything it's not just business.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: Like what it what is what do I feel most called towards right um what is most impactful for me and so on.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: I hate to cut it off so abruptly but I have this meeting with my pastor um this will be in the zoom vault by uh by tomorrow hopefully and um you just have to get to so at you and anyone else watching this you do have to get to level two to unlock the zoom vault which literally you can do in five minutes by uh getting five points on which is literally like you get five like likes on either a comment or on a uh post.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: Like and it doesn't have to be one it can be like one on five different things right that literally takes five minutes.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: And so um hope you guys have a blessed week I will talk to you later peace.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: See you brother
