- Lucas: Velkommen til Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Episode 147. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Lucas, last episode we learned 'å komme' — to come. That was nice. Lucas: Yeah, and today we're doing a verb that goes hand in hand with that: 'å reise' — to travel. Luna: Ohh, I love that. 'Å reise'. Say it again? Lucas: Å reise. Å reise. Luna: Å reise. Okay, I think I got it. So 'å reise' is to travel. Like, I travel? Lucas: Exactly. 'Jeg reiser' — I travel. Listen: jeg reiser. Luna: Jeg reiser. Jeg reiser. That sounds good. So if I want to ask someone 'do you travel?', it's 'reiser du?'? Lucas: Perfect. 'Reiser du?' — do you travel? Let's say that: reiser du? Luna: Reiser du? Lucas: Yep. And you can add where. 'Hvor reiser du?' — where do you travel? Luna: Hvor reiser du? That's useful. I could ask someone about their trip. Lucas: Right. And if you travel by train, you say 'jeg reiser med tog'. Jeg reiser med tog. Luna: Jeg reiser med tog. So 'med' is 'with', but here it means 'by'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Med tog' — by train. So 'jeg reiser med tog' — I travel by train. Luna: Jeg reiser med tog. I like that. So I can say 'jeg reiser med tog til Oslo'. Lucas: Oh, that's perfect. 'Jeg reiser med tog til Oslo' — I travel by train to Oslo. Luna: Let me try: jeg reiser med tog til Oslo. Lucas: Nailed it. Okay, let's do a little scene. Imagine you're at a train station and I ask you: 'Hvor reiser du?' Luna: Hmm, I'll say: 'Jeg reiser til Bergen.' Lucas: Great. 'Jeg reiser til Bergen.' And then I could ask: 'Reiser du med tog?' Luna: Ja, jeg reiser med tog. Lucas: Good. Now, let's practice all four phrases together. I'll say them, then you repeat. First: å reise. Luna: Å reise. Lucas: Jeg reiser. Luna: Jeg reiser. Lucas: Reiser du? Luna: Reiser du? Lucas: Jeg reiser med tog. Luna: Jeg reiser med tog. Lucas: Hvor reiser du? Luna: Hvor reiser du? Lucas: Awesome. You know, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Norwegian, we just want you to know that a handful of listeners chip in monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's literally what funds making this many episodes. Luna: Yeah, it's pretty cool. No ads, just people who find it useful. It's a small group, but it keeps us going. Lucas: Right. So anyway, back to 'å reise'. Let's say you're planning a trip. How would you say 'I travel to Norway'? Luna: Jeg reiser til Norge. Lucas: Perfect. And if you travel by plane? Luna: Uhh, 'jeg reiser med fly'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Jeg reiser med fly' — I travel by plane. Luna: Jeg reiser med fly til Norge. Lucas: Wonderful. Now let's do a quick call-back. Remember 'å komme'? How would you say 'I come from Norway'? Luna: Jeg kommer fra Norge. Lucas: And 'I travel to Norway'? Luna: Jeg reiser til Norge. Lucas: Beautiful. So 'komme' and 'reise' are like opposites: come and go. Luna: Yeah, that makes sense. So if I'm going somewhere, I use 'reise', and if I'm arriving, I use 'komme'. Lucas: Exactly. Okay, let's do one more repetition of today's phrases. Repeat after me: å reise. Luna: Å reise. Lucas: Jeg reiser. Luna: Jeg reiser. Lucas: Reiser du? Luna: Reiser du? Lucas: Jeg reiser med tog. Luna: Jeg reiser med tog. Lucas: Hvor reiser du? Luna: Hvor reiser du? Lucas: Perfect. Practice these, and next time we'll learn another verb. Ha det bra! Luna: Ha det bra, alle sammen!
