- 0:05Before we jump into the subject tonight, why don't?
- 0:06We just open our Bibles to Psalms. 119, Psalms 119, I was
- 0:12meditating on this chapter late last night and just going
- 0:17through this. If you ever had the opportunity
- 0:19to I encourage you strongly read Psalms 119 in one sitting, just
- 0:23keep reading it. Just keep reading it.
- 0:25And if you ever want to be challenged, About your devotion
- 0:30and your love for the word of God.
- 0:32Compare it to the psalmist words in this chapter.
- 0:37And look at how the Holy Spirit uses this man to give Insight
- 0:40concerning the power of the word of God.
- 0:42And the reason why we reading this is in light of the Bible
- 0:44study, look at verse 25. My soul clings to the dust give
- 0:49me life according to your word. Now, you can look at that.
- 0:55Physically, you can look at that, spiritually, physically in
- 0:57the sense that he knows that there are those around him that
- 1:00are persecuting him and are planning an attack on him.
- 1:02But spiritually, my soul clings to the dust, I'm as good as
- 1:06dead. I'm so dry.
- 1:09I need life. And how does that life come
- 1:12according to the word? The word, read the word heard.
- 1:17The word received by Faith. Life is imparted.
- 1:21Look at verse 28. Do you feel like verse 28
- 1:23tonight, though? You came in with a smile verse
- 1:2628, my soul. Melts away for sorrow.
- 1:31I literally feel like I'm disintegrating in the inside.
- 1:35I feel like I can't go on another moment.
- 1:39I don't know how I can stay faithful, because I'm barely
- 1:42faithful even today. And look what happens strengthen
- 1:45me according to your word. The Holy Spirit showing us hear
- 1:50something. No matter what, the malady of
- 1:52your soul is tonight. There's strength as you sit, and
- 1:57you hear the word of God, the word of God.
- 2:00Now, you know what the psalmist is meditating on, you know what
- 2:02the psalmist is Proclaim? You know what?
- 2:03The psalmist is finding all this delight in, not the Epistles.
- 2:11The law. Of all things, the law.
- 2:15Yes. The law can be another word to
- 2:17summarize the word of God, but the law, we're talking about the
- 2:20sacrificial law. We're talking about the dietary
- 2:22law, we're talking about the dress codes.
- 2:25We're talking about all the instructions of what to do.
- 2:27If somebody has a spot on his skin or if there's something in
- 2:30a house that's concerning concerning disease and he goes,
- 2:34I love your law. I love those instructions.
- 2:38I love every detail that you give in The Book of Leviticus.
- 2:40Why? Because it reveals the character
- 2:41of God. It reveals the nature of God.
- 2:47And how much more we? How much more should we be
- 2:50infatuated? And Intoxicated by this word,
- 2:53when we have the full counsel of God, I say that this a trust
- 2:59that as you and I sit here tonight that strength will be
- 3:03imparted into your soul and as you leave and you go back home
- 3:07after a long week of work, you will know that you ate from his
- 3:11table. And that you can go on another
- 3:15week because of his word. Let's pray.
- 3:20Father, we pray tonight that we would no matter where Soul sits
- 3:24tonight you would strengthen us according to your word Lord, we
- 3:28pray that this Bible study would be delivered in a Clarity of
- 3:31speech freedom from confusion, Lord, Freedom From Any Spirit of
- 3:36debate, in an unhealthy way. And we ask Lord that we would
- 3:40simply see Christ elevated and we would love and adore him.
- 3:43All the more. So we pray that the Holy Spirit,
- 3:46your Holy Spirit would grant us the spirit of wisdom and
- 3:48Revelation law. We That we would know what we
- 3:51believe in even more, and it would cause us to love you even
- 3:54more. And it would cause us to go out
- 3:56with a greater boldness and confidence in who you are and
- 4:00what you have to offer to all men.
- 4:02We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
- 4:05All of God's people say, amen. there are many titles in the
- 4:10Bible that describe Jesus Christ.
- 4:15There are many descriptions that are designated towards the
- 4:19second person of the Trinity. And I'm sure right now, if we
- 4:22spend the next five minutes, we can list several common titles
- 4:28that Christ holds concerning himself and how the rest of
- 4:32scripture testifies about him. Two of those titles.
- 4:38Are the son of God. And what's the second one?
- 4:43The son of man, Son of God, Son of Man, the scriptures describe
- 4:49Jesus way Jesus defines himself in both ways.
- 4:54Now when you hear Son of God what's the immediate Association
- 4:57that comes concerning the nature of Jesus?
- 5:00When Jesus says I am the Son of God, what comes to mind
- 5:02concerning his nature? Is Divinity that he is equal in
- 5:06essence. That he is equal with God, he is
- 5:11of the same nature. Now when you hear son of man,
- 5:13what comes to mind concerning his nature, his humanity, and so
- 5:18the common understanding of Jesus being the Son of God,
- 5:23Jesus being the son of man, is that him being the Son of God,
- 5:26deals with his deity, and him being the son of man deals with
- 5:30his Humanity, right? That's kind of the easy answer,
- 5:34but the scripture is Go deeper than that.
- 5:38Because many people who attacked the person of Christ.
- 5:41Mainly, his deity will often point to the truth that
- 5:45throughout the scriptures. The title Son of God, or sons of
- 5:50God, or just simply sun, and reference to relationship with.
- 5:53God is not just given to Jesus, but given to other persons, And
- 6:00when you think about the son of man, Jesus had a way deeper
- 6:05understanding of what he meant. When he said he was the son of
- 6:07man. And so, what's funny is, when we
- 6:09think of Son of God, we think immediately deity.
- 6:12When in fact, the Bible uses Son of God for humans and other
- 6:15spiritual creatures. And when we think of son of man,
- 6:18we think Humanity, when in fact, son of man is actually used to
- 6:21describe deity that funny. And so, back to the point that
- 6:26often times, people will use these two titles to attack the
- 6:31person of Christ. And to lower him on the same
- 6:33level as other created beings to try to discourage us and to
- 6:38confuse us into thinking that he's not really God In the
- 6:40Flesh. And so I need several volunteers
- 6:43just for scripture references. Okay, so let's do this popcorn
- 6:45style. Don't be afraid to read out
- 6:47loud. I need somebody to open their
- 6:48Bibles to don't read it just yet.
- 6:50We're gonna get all the references out first.
- 6:51Somebody to pull out, Job chapter 1, Verse 6, Job, chapter
- 6:561, verse 6, just lift your hand if you want.
- 6:57Job chapter 1, verse 6. Okay, Jennifer Job, chapter 1,
- 6:59verse 6 and and also 2:1 another person for Hosea Hosea 11:1, Tim
- 7:07Hosea 11:1, another person. First Chronicles, 20 to nine and
- 7:13ten First Chronicles, Matt 22, 9 and 10.
- 7:18Another one at Luke 3:38. Michael.
- 7:21Luke 3:38 to marry. You got the next one?
- 7:22All Acts chapter 17 38. For another one.
- 7:27You got that tumor Another one Romans 8:14 215.
- 7:33Did you already do one? No, I didn't give you one.
- 7:37Okay, you get Romans 8:14 15. I feel like you got one, didn't
- 7:40you? You can have to, it's okay.
- 7:43What's that first Chronicles? 20 to nine, and ten.
- 7:47And lastly, Matthew 5:9 who wants Matthew, 5:9, Matthew, 5:9
- 7:52Matthew 5:9 Evan. Okay.
- 7:55All right, so let's go from the beginning Job, chapter 1 and
- 7:57listen carefully. If you're reading, Boom, your
- 7:59voice. So we can all hear Job.
- 8:01Chapter 16 and in job, 2116. Now, there was a day when the
- 8:08sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord.
- 8:11And Satan also came among. Them.
- 8:15You go to verse 1 as well. Yeah.
- 8:20So you heard that right? The sons of God came before The
- 8:22Throne of God. Who knows what the sons of God
- 8:25are in that context Angelic beings, right?
- 8:28To one will say the same thing. Again, there was a day when the
- 8:33sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord.
- 8:36And Satan also came among them, to present himself before the
- 8:40Lord. Again, we see this Angelic
- 8:42beings who identified collectively as the sons of God,
- 8:45who are approaching the Throne of God, okay?
- 8:48Who has Hosea? Tim, please.
- 8:52What Israel, as a child. I loved him and out of Egypt.
- 8:56I called my son. Okay?
- 8:58So Israel is identified as who son, son, of, who Son of God.
- 9:05Okay, so we have Angel like beings collectively referred to
- 9:08as sons of God we have the nation of Israel as a whole
- 9:12referred to as a Son of God who has a next one.
- 9:19Who has first Chronicles 22? Yes, First Chronicles 10:22
- 9:25behold. The son shall be born to you.
- 9:27Who shall be a man of rest? I will give him rest from all
- 9:31the surrounding enemies. For his name shall be Solomon,
- 9:34and I will give you peace and quiet and quiet to Israel and
- 9:37his days, he shall build a house for my name.
- 9:41He shall be my son and I will be his father and I will establish
- 9:44his Royal throne and is interesting.
- 9:46So David is speaking to his son. Lemon and is explaining to him
- 9:50how though he desired in his own heart to build a house for the
- 9:53Lord. There was too much blood on his
- 9:55hands. And so God says, you're not
- 9:57going to build a house, your son Solomon is going to build the
- 9:59house, he's going to be a man of rest.
- 10:00He's not going to be a man of war and the Lord refers to and
- 10:03relates to Solomon as his son and him being his father in
- 10:08relationship to what that through the delivery davidic
- 10:11lineage, those who would sit on an Earthly Throne, as a
- 10:14representative of God would in some sense, relate to him as Son
- 10:19to a father. So even on a royal sense, we see
- 10:23this language of son and father that God has given to me or man
- 10:27who has the next reference in, Luke 3:38, the son of Seth, the
- 10:32son of Adam, the Son of God, so Luke 3 is a genealogy of Jesus
- 10:38and at the end of that genealogy we come down to Adam and how is
- 10:41Adam titled? Can you read it again?
- 10:45This is the Son of God. The Son of God, Adam created
- 10:51being you see where we're going with this.
- 10:54How this title? The Son of God is given to other
- 10:58created. Beings acts 17:28, acts 17:28,
- 11:03Tamara for him. Okay, so we see there, that Paul
- 11:14is evangelizing, and as he's evangelizing, he's describing
- 11:19how Humanity because they are God's created beings are in a
- 11:23sense, his offspring, not in the sense of you.
- 11:25And I, when we're born again into his family, but generally
- 11:28in humanity, we are brothers and sisters.
- 11:30And so the idea of us being God's Offspring is their
- 11:33children of God, Sons and Daughters of God so to speak.
- 11:37Okay? We have Romans 8:14 15 for all
- 11:41who are led by the spirit of the God are sons of God for you.
- 11:45Did not receive the spirit of Slavery to fall back into fear
- 11:49but you have received the spirit of adoption as Sons by whom we
- 11:53cry Abba Father. Okay, so we're because we come
- 11:58into Union with Christ we're not just merely God's Offspring.
- 12:01Like Acts 17:28 says but because we received the Holy Spirit
- 12:05indwelling in a ceiling us, we now are called sons of God and
- 12:09we can relate to him as such in a familial sense.
- 12:13And the loving intimate way, we have been given access to be
- 12:15called Sons and Daughters of God because of the finished work of
- 12:18Jesus Christ. But sons of God.
- 12:21What's the difference between me being called the Son of God and
- 12:22Jesus being called the son of God?
- 12:25Lastly Matthew 5:9 will sit on the peacemakers for they shall
- 12:29be called sons of God. Blessed are the peacemakers for
- 12:32they shall be called sons of God.
- 12:34In other words, those who would reflect and Obey God's will.
- 12:39In a sense are imitating him and are walking out his nature.
- 12:44And so they are therefore referred to as sons of God.
- 12:49So you read through your Bible, you see, all these references.
- 12:51You see, all these things given two different mere creatures.
- 12:54And so the argument goes, that Jesus Christ is not really
- 12:58Divine. In light of all those
- 13:00references, he is simply perhaps, at best God's most
- 13:05exalted creature that has walked out in obedience and good works.
- 13:10Pure in heart. Glorifying God, Etc.
- 13:14You see how the argument can go. What's so special about the
- 13:18title Son of God? If it's been granted to so many
- 13:20others. And the argument is again,
- 13:24because those titles are given to specific types of people were
- 13:27obviously walking in righteousness faithfulness,
- 13:29obedience. So his Christ, but that doesn't
- 13:31make him divine. And to prove how this is not the
- 13:38case. We're actually going to go to
- 13:40one of the verses that is the go-to versus two further attack.
- 13:44The deity of Christ. Can you think of what that verse
- 13:46is? It uses a specific word that a
- 13:49lot of modern translations are not using as much starts with
- 13:52the letter B begotten. We're going to need you in John
- 13:573:16. John 3:16 Paul.
- 14:02When you get there, can you read John 3:16 to us, please?
- 14:06For God. So loved the world that he gave
- 14:08his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him
- 14:11should not perish but have everlasting life.
- 14:13Did you hear it? We know this verse everybody
- 14:15knows this verse but it's that word begotten, that may cause a
- 14:19lot of trouble and that would be cotton is unfortunately used as
- 14:22ammunition to attack the deity of Christ.
- 14:24What does it mean to be get someone?
- 14:27Or someone to be gotten to Father?
- 14:30Someone sure. There's more specific
- 14:31definition. To deliver to deliver said he
- 14:41got. He got he got in.
- 14:43Okay, this is what does it mean in the natural sense?
- 14:47It's for someone to come into existence by the process of
- 14:49reproduction. It's for someone to come into
- 14:52existence through the process of reproduction.
- 14:56Now, why is that a problem in light of this verse as defines
- 15:00Jesus Christ, in terms of our theology, Because he's a turtle.
- 15:08So, so how can the word begotten be used to describe Jesus
- 15:13Christ. In fact, there are those who
- 15:17would blasphemously say, mockingly, That Jesus Christ.
- 15:25You Christians believe is the result of God, the Father
- 15:29sexually unifying himself with Mary to be get Jesus Christ.
- 15:35Muslims would accuse Christians of this thought.
- 15:39And again I really really don't like to go to the original
- 15:43languages often just because it's important to go there but
- 15:46we don't have all that resources for us as we can get those
- 15:49resources but we're not all Greek Scholars here.
- 15:51But again sometimes we have to and we're going to see how just
- 15:54a little bit of research into the original.
- 15:56Can go a long way when you look at the word only begotten, this
- 16:00is in the King James, but if you see it in the ESV, you won't see
- 16:03only be gone. What will you see in the ESV?
- 16:05Only use going to get only, you're not going to get beat
- 16:08begotten, you can only going to get only new King James nasb.
- 16:11Will say only begotten a lot of the newer translations will only
- 16:15say only now only pay attention only and only begotten, even
- 16:22though it's two words, their deriving it from the same, Greek
- 16:25word, okay, monogenes, pretty much.
- 16:31And that word in its right context, actually means
- 16:34something such as one of a kind or unique in the right context.
- 16:40It doesn't necessarily mean to come into existence like a child
- 16:43does through reproduction. It actually means one of a kind
- 16:46or unique in its right context. And how we can take that word
- 16:52and prove that just by going to the scriptures and not having to
- 16:55be a Greek scholar is to see how the word only is used in a
- 16:58different context to describe a different person that backs up
- 17:01what we're saying concerning Jesus Christ.
- 17:03So we need to go to this verse. This is you want to go to John
- 17:063:16, you want to write something your Bible.
- 17:07If you write something in your Bible, right?
- 17:09Hebrews 11:17, Hebrews, 11:17 shows us how begotten?
- 17:15Or only or only begotten? Is far more significant than the
- 17:19meaning of coming into existence by reproduction, Hebrews 11:17.
- 17:26Can you read it again in the King James Paul, please Hebrews
- 17:2911:17. Yeah.
- 17:30By faith Abraham when he was tried offered up Isaac and he
- 17:34that had received the promises offered up, his only begotten
- 17:37son. Did you hear it?
- 17:41In that beautiful chapter, the Hall of Faith, goes on to gum to
- 17:45Abraham and described how he in faith gave up his son, Isaac and
- 17:50it defines him as his only begotten son, again ESV will say
- 17:57only son. Now, why is that interesting in
- 18:02light of understanding the story of Isaac and Abraham?
- 18:06He had another son smile yet another son Ishmael, here's
- 18:11another here's another question. Just this is a side question.
- 18:14How many sons and total that Abraham have?
- 18:1893. 45 total including Isaac and Ishmael.
- 18:27How many sons of Abraham have Genesis 25?
- 18:34Can you pull up Genesis 25 1 and 2?
- 18:37How many sons that how many kids that Abraham have total?
- 18:41Find out. This is after Sarah passed away.
- 18:44Abraham took another wife, whose name was what Keturah.
- 18:48And she bore him Zimmern Josh. N me Dan.
- 18:51Midian is back and schewe. And then they just goes on to
- 18:56the genealogist, how many we are there. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8, 8 total
- 19:01a total. Now even if you don't include
- 19:04Genesis 25, we know that Ishmael was born before Isaac.
- 19:07So how can the scriptures Define Isaac as only begotten, when
- 19:12Ishmael was already a teenager that point Yes, unless of course
- 19:20according to the original language that word begotten or
- 19:25only are only begotten does not mean to come into existence, but
- 19:29means being unique or one of a kind in relationship to another.
- 19:35And so when we take that truth in Hebrews, 11:17, and how was
- 19:38Isaac unique? He was born to Sarah, Ishmael
- 19:42was born to Hagar and he was the son of the Covenant.
- 19:45He had a unique Ich relationship with his father and likewise the
- 19:51Holy Spirit uses that same imagery and even uses that same
- 19:54story to be a prophetic picture of Jesus Christ.
- 19:58Yes, as the Son of God, yes, even that title being used
- 20:02amongst other people and other creatures, but having a
- 20:05one-of-a-kind unique relationship with the father.
- 20:10Do we see? Do see how powerful that is.
- 20:12So in John 3:16 that is not averse to use to.
- 20:16Say that Jesus came into existence by reproduction or any
- 20:20other. Any other way.
- 20:21Know what John is saying by the holy spirit.
- 20:24Is that Jesus Christ? Yes, as the Son of God holds a
- 20:27unique one-of-a-kind, special relationship with the father.
- 20:31How so by having an eternal intimate fellowship with him,
- 20:36even before everything else was created.
- 20:38How is Jesus Christ unique? Amongst all the other so-called
- 20:41sons of God, this is how he's unique, he was eternally in the
- 20:45bosom of the father. That's how he's unique.
- 20:48So if anything that word only solidifies the reality that he
- 20:53is, in fact, Eternal, because he's unique because he's not
- 20:57unlike others, that's what it's trying to say.
- 20:59Do we see that this is so crucial to understand especially
- 21:02with a verse like that? That so often used to try to
- 21:05intimidate Christians, shall we have further proof of this John
- 21:0920:17, we already went through this verse but let's hear it
- 21:11again. John 20:17.
- 21:15It's good to go over some familiar verses.
- 21:21Jesus said to her, this is after his resurrection.
- 21:24Do not cling to me for I have not yet ascended to the father,
- 21:28but go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my
- 21:30father and your father to my God, and your God.
- 21:35Now we already settled mainly what he meant by saying my God
- 21:38and your God, just for the sake of her memory.
- 21:40Why did he say my God? How can Jesus have a god?
- 21:44Because he's the God of All Flesh.
- 21:45According to Jeremiah 32 27. Jesus Christ took on flesh.
- 21:49And as he took on flesh, he assumed to be in subjection to
- 21:52God as his God. All Flesh including the
- 21:58Incarnate son. But let's look at, I am
- 22:00ascending to my father, and your father.
- 22:04Now, why didn't Jesus say our father?
- 22:07He could have I'm sending to our father.
- 22:11He didn't very specific with his language.
- 22:14I am ascending to my father and your father.
- 22:18We can call god father, by what by Grace.
- 22:22How through adoption, through the finished, work of Jesus
- 22:25Christ, the firstborn among many Brethren.
- 22:28We've been given access into the family of God, to be able to
- 22:31say, Abba Father, but only Jesus Christ has a unique place in
- 22:37that understanding of him being father in that, he was not
- 22:41adopted. He was not brought in at one
- 22:44point in history, he was eternally the son of God.
- 22:49So he can say my father and your father that's a wonderful Truth
- 22:53for us. It makes a distinction because
- 22:56he alone had an eternal fellowship with him.
- 22:59In an intimate way, read John 1:18.
- 23:02It says that he was always in the bosom of the father so close
- 23:06is so intimate. Depending on your translation
- 23:08might say he was always at the father's side but it's speaking
- 23:11about close proximity speaking. About this knowledge of one.
- 23:16Another that is unique this isn't this is A side verse.
- 23:19This is powerful. Don't turn there if you can.
- 23:22Please put up Matthew 11:27 Matthew 11:27 just to hear and
- 23:26understand that, this son of God, is unique, all things have
- 23:31been handed over to me by my father and no one knows the son,
- 23:36except the father. The sun is e comprehendible and
- 23:40no one can fully comprehend the sun, except one the father.
- 23:45Who can say that, what creature can say?
- 23:49No one can fully grasp me. No one can fully comprehend me.
- 23:53Except God Alone. And no one knows the father
- 23:58except the son and anyone to whom the son chooses to review.
- 24:01Do you see the exclusivity there?
- 24:03You see that tight-knit relationship there?
- 24:06Do you see that the Son and the father knowing one another and
- 24:09whoever has been given access to no father as Father the Son
- 24:13chooses to reveal to him? So we can't put Jesus though
- 24:18that title, Son of God are sons of God or son and reference to
- 24:21God is shared. We can't put Jesus on the same
- 24:23level as man. Here's another one.
- 24:29Just don't turn there. You can just pay attention to
- 24:30the screen and Mark 12. Jesus shares a parable.
- 24:35Jesus shares a parable, Mark chapter 12 beginning in verse 1,
- 24:38we know this This is Matthew can turn to Mark, please.
- 24:42Thank you. And he began to speak to them in
- 24:47Parables a man planted a Vineyard and put a fence around
- 24:50it. And dug a pit for the winepress
- 24:52and built the Tower and leased it to tenants and went into
- 24:55another country. So remember tenants, he leased
- 24:57it to tenants and he left to another country.
- 25:00When the season came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get
- 25:04from them, some of the fruit of the vineyard.
- 25:06Now, if you're familiar with this Parable, who the tenants
- 25:08represent the Pharisees, the religious authorities of Israel
- 25:12are the tenants that have been given responsibility to We
- 25:16manage and cultivate the vineyard and to bear fruit as
- 25:19the people of God. And in order to gather fruit,
- 25:23what is the Lord say, says that the owner of the vineyard sends
- 25:25his servant and now, what did they do to this sermon?
- 25:28They took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
- 25:31You can go to the next verse Again, he sent them another
- 25:34servant and they struck him on the head and treated him
- 25:37shamefully, and he sent another and him.
- 25:39They killed. And so with many others, someday
- 25:42beat, and someday killed now, who did the servants represent
- 25:45the prophets? God, sending one messenger after
- 25:48the other to come and to continually remind, the people
- 25:52of who they are in their identity in relationship to God,
- 25:55and how they ought to walk Faithfully to God, and how they
- 25:57respond killing destroying beating shaming, and we go on.
- 26:04He had still one other. A beloved Son.
- 26:09Finally, he sent him to them saying they will respect my son.
- 26:14But those tenants said to one another, this is the heir come.
- 26:18Let us kill him, and The Inheritance will be ours.
- 26:23And it took him and killed him and threw him out of the
- 26:25vineyard. I'm either side.
- 26:26So we have another category. Now, what's the third category?
- 26:29Only one only one person fits that category, beloved Son, the
- 26:34Beloved son, who is the heir of all things, concerning the owner
- 26:38of the vineyard now. Why do we bring this Parable up?
- 26:40Because we see that Christ in this?
- 26:42Parable, distinguishes himself, even from the most Faithful
- 26:47Servants of God throughout the ages.
- 26:50These prophets that went forth to represent God.
- 26:52God and to speak forth, his word Christ, elevates himself above
- 26:56those Messengers who say that he is preeminent and transcended
- 26:59because he alone was eternally and fellowship in intimacy with
- 27:04God and he alone is the air possessor.
- 27:06All things I got almost. So even in a parable like this,
- 27:10we see that Christ is Sanctified amongst even the greatest of
- 27:15men. This is a powerful understanding
- 27:20concerning the nature of God. I want to design a question,
- 27:23just for the sake of dialogue, and this is important to
- 27:25understand you maybe it never fought this, but this is
- 27:28actually welcome to the Christian World.
- 27:30Geology, this is the baited subject.
- 27:33This specific question. Jesus Christ, being the Son of
- 27:38God, it's clear. It's a reality we see here, but
- 27:42some even amongst Evangelical Christians that are not Heretics
- 27:48per se. There are two sides to this
- 27:50understanding of Jesus, being the Son of God, and this is
- 27:52important to understand. The one side is that the Son of
- 27:55God, the title Son of God does not necessarily speak about his
- 27:58nature as much as he speaks about his submissive role that
- 28:02he took upon himself. And so Jesus Christ, in other
- 28:06words was not always the Son of God, but he became the Son of
- 28:12God, not in the game. God not that, he's any less than
- 28:16God, but he took on the role of Son of God at a specific time in
- 28:21history. What point do you think that is
- 28:25his birth? His Incarnation.
- 28:27So you have some genuine Believers.
- 28:28I don't deny the deity of Christ that don't deny that.
- 28:32Jesus Christ is fully. God, they don't deny it.
- 28:34That they don't, they don't say that he was created.
- 28:36But what they do say is that when he was born, even through
- 28:41the miraculous conception, that was the moment where he became
- 28:45the son of God. Do you notice how this is?
- 28:50No. Jesus Christ always was the son
- 28:54of God. I did it didn't happen.
- 28:56It didn't come into existence that time it was a roll.
- 28:58It's his nature to years even from the beginning where you
- 29:03said we weren't stoned you. Don't worry.
- 29:07Do you? Do you understand this idea of
- 29:08some, God has more of a role or more of his nature from eternity
- 29:13past and see why this is important.
- 29:15This night is not just, let's just argue for kicks.
- 29:18There's a reason. And what we have been saying?
- 29:19What position we hold to. Yes he personally I'd say he was
- 29:25always the Son of God to say that he just took on that role
- 29:30when he was born as denouncing, the triangle God saying he
- 29:35wasn't trying being until Jesus got born on.
- 29:40You could say make the same argument for the Holy Spirit and
- 29:43the Holy Spirit didn't come into play, until he came down at a
- 29:47Pentecost. Well, I would say this the those
- 29:52who hold to that, you don't say that Jesus Christ did not
- 29:54eternally exist or was not a part of the Trinity is that he
- 29:58assumed the role of a servant by becoming the Son of God in a
- 30:01subordinate way. That's what we're trying to say
- 30:03here. So those who say this are
- 30:05genuine Believers, and they're not saying that Jesus Christ
- 30:07didn't exist until he became a person.
- 30:10They're saying that the title, the role of Son of God was
- 30:14brought about at the Incarnation.
- 30:15Yeah I believe in some got is some eternal Ali son.
- 30:20But there is a verse that always know.
- 30:22I have a question about it when he said you are my son today, I
- 30:26have begotten you, so if he's eternally and that verse talk
- 30:30about eternally is starting today.
- 30:32I've been recording you like such as there is a certain day
- 30:36or there is a beginning, so how you reconcile that?
- 30:40Yeah, we'll get to that. That's a Hebrews 15 speaks about
- 30:43how the father's is today. I have begotten, you, that's an
- 30:45important verse. Yes, Because I mean, I'm done.
- 30:54I'm not denying that like I believe that he's internal, but
- 30:59that's like within the Trinity, the Trinity was always there
- 31:03because God is eternal, but I believe that when he came into
- 31:09the world as a baby you know his birth was him breaking out into
- 31:17three parts in one. And him taking on that role as
- 31:20the Son of God I'm coming into the world is when we kind of got
- 31:26those three. I don't know.
- 31:30I understand but we understand where you're coming from and
- 31:32before we move on just to put up, Luke 1:35 to see where
- 31:35people are coming from to back up that view that Jesus Took on
- 31:39that role. As a Son of God, his birth Luke
- 31:411:35 and the angel answered. The holy spirit will come upon
- 31:46you and the power of the most high will overshadow you.
- 31:48Therefore the child To be born will be called.
- 31:50Holy the son of God. Jackie had your hand up
- 32:05so would it be? Would it be?
- 32:07So you're saying that he was always the Son of God.
- 32:09But two thousand years ago he became the son of man because
- 32:12that kind of gives more of a human connotation to it.
- 32:16It's an interesting view. Okay we're going to see.
- 32:18We're going to find out in a moment that the son of man has
- 32:20more Divine element to it than we think.
- 32:22Yes. I don't want to point out that
- 32:26and say, okay, no, this is a specific period of time in which
- 32:30God had begotten cries. I don't hold to that by the way,
- 32:33when I'm just adding 3 4 5 right.
- 32:35Right? Right.
- 32:35It's okay. We like fire.
- 32:38Fires. Good.
- 32:40As long as it's safe and it stays within the boundaries
- 32:42fires good. Luke 1:35, right?
- 32:47He shall be called. Holy the son of God.
- 32:53Phoebe. Yeah.
- 33:22Can you stop being the same guy who didn't have anything to do
- 33:26with this package, like forgot to offer of his only son?
- 33:30Seems to me more of a sacrificial things.
- 33:33Mmm, did you guys hear that perspective?
- 33:36If Jesus was not the son before his Incarnation, then does that
- 33:41dilute the sacrificial? Love that God displays in
- 33:44sending his son into the world. That's a good point.
- 33:51Yes. This is good fires, good.
- 34:10Anybody want to add some more fuel to the fire?
- 34:12Maybe going back to John, 3:16 God.
- 34:14So loved the world. Sure he gave his son.
- 34:19How can that language be used for the second person of the
- 34:22Trinity when he wasn't born yet. My son is mentioned in the Old
- 34:29Testament, psalms and Proverbs, and Psalms to, and Father's Day,
- 34:34right? Son of God.
- 34:36Or son of man. Just some kiss, the son, lest he
- 34:39be angry and you perish. Okay, so so in the Old
- 34:42Testament, we see that there is reference to the sun before the
- 34:46Incarnation. That's the point.
- 34:47That's a beautiful Point. Yes.
- 34:49Paul. The people would say that that's
- 34:50a reference to Future event. That's so it's prophetic, it's
- 34:54not a present reality. Why are you sure?
- 35:06Yes. Cautions 1:16 says, at the end
- 35:09it says everything was created through him and for him.
- 35:13So meaning like it's God. And then for him at the same
- 35:18time, sure. Yes.
- 35:19It's a beautiful verse of defendant deity of Christ and
- 35:21nobody would deny again, that Christ was divine before his
- 35:24Incarnation but the Argument is he wasn't always known and
- 35:28referred to and related to within the internal relationship
- 35:31of the godhead as the sun. Is this important we're is this
- 35:36important. It is important.
- 35:38Okay? Any other input or opinion or
- 35:41versus before we dive into it and want.
- 35:43Yeah. Okay so another verse the back
- 35:59of the deity of Christ sure she wasn't the Sun.
- 36:02What was he A good question. Here's another one.
- 36:06If he wasn't the son, was there a father?
- 36:11So son. No, son before Incarnation.
- 36:14Then can we relate to God as father?
- 36:16And we've talked about the Trinity and we talked about how
- 36:18God is referred to as father in the Old Testament.
- 36:20So now we got some trouble here, don't we?
- 36:22Father of who Is it just a random thing that God has given
- 36:26himself? No, I just have a verse that
- 36:34interesting. So the Lord said to my Lord
- 36:39capitalized, it's a prophetic Psalm.
- 36:44Right? And I think we can go back to
- 36:45Paul's argument to say yeah, we see that this is speaking about
- 36:48Jesus but this isn't speaking about necessarily present
- 36:50reality as much as it is speaking about a future event.
- 36:59Did you contact your father? I think
- 37:20you really added fuel to the fire.
- 37:21Yeah, it's a good fuel though. It's good because oftentimes
- 37:26people will point to that. I'm not saying you're doing
- 37:27this, but I'm saying, oftentimes, People point to that
- 37:29prophetic verse to say, how There's no distinction within
- 37:33the godhead, because the sun is referred to, as the Everlasting
- 37:36Father, which I would simply argue that we can go in depth
- 37:39with that would simply argue. It's not making the Son and the
- 37:43Father, the same person but it is saying that the sun does
- 37:46carry a fatherly like characteristic and love and
- 37:49compassion and care. Yes,
- 38:06probably thirty three and four. Mmm.
- 38:08Yeah. So we speak with right, right,
- 38:14right. Right.
- 38:16The holy ones, son. And that's what many Anna was
- 38:18bring up. Psalms chapter 2 and Proverbs
- 38:19Chapter 30. We remember we spent time to see
- 38:22how the Sun the Not just Jesus, but the son that title is found
- 38:26in the Old Testament. So yes for Shadows.
- 38:33What's going to happen? Obviously Jesus, is that coming
- 38:38to completion and that playing out.
- 38:42So I feel like the concept of the sun was there the whole
- 38:44time, but then I feel like it also poses, the question, why on
- 38:47Earth then did we go through the entire Old Testament of, you
- 38:51know, making sacrifices with animals or like, whatever.
- 38:54Like why didn't you just come in sooner, then and then Where's
- 38:58the purpose of how important his birth is and him coming into the
- 39:04world, to fulfill that purpose? So I guess like I feel like the
- 39:08concept of the son, the Holy Spirit and as that was all there
- 39:12and obviously it existed because the three-in-one and Father's
- 39:16Eternal and he's always existed. But I feel like that role coming
- 39:22in the play didn't come into play until until his
- 39:26incarnation. I hope we can stay friends.
- 39:34Luke 1:35, if you can bring that up again please and the angel
- 39:37answered her. The holy spirit will come upon
- 39:40you and the power of the most high will overshadow you.
- 39:42Therefore, the child to be born will become the son of God.
- 39:47No, I didn't say that. The for the child to be born
- 39:50will be called holy the Son of God, there's a big difference.
- 39:55There's a big difference between being called and becoming to say
- 40:01that Jesus Christ was called the Son of God does not indicate
- 40:04that. And this moment he assumed the
- 40:07role of sun in relation to the godhead, what it does do though
- 40:12is affirm the miraculous conception and birth of the Son
- 40:16of God declares that he Is the Son of God, it does not make him
- 40:22the Son of God. So many of those who would say
- 40:25that it was at this moment that Jesus became the Son of God.
- 40:29Have to explain where in different moments and different
- 40:33events, the main events of Jesus life death burial, Resurrection
- 40:38Ascension, have to explain why he's referred to and identified
- 40:43as a Son of God in those moments as well.
- 40:45This will make sense when we go to the reference.
- 40:47Romans 11 Romans. One.
- 40:52Romans 11 and will read 2 verse 4.
- 40:54And we'll see what we're trying to argue here.
- 40:59Paul a servant of Christ Jesus called to be an apostle set
- 41:03apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand
- 41:07through His prophets in the Holy scriptures, concerning his son
- 41:13Okay, who was descended from David, according to the flesh.
- 41:17Now, look at this end was what declared to be the Son of God in
- 41:21power. According to the spirit, when
- 41:24was he declared to be the Son of God, of Holiness, by his
- 41:27resurrection, from the dead? Jesus Christ, Our Lord. so, if
- 41:35he was called, Son of God at his birth, What do we do with a
- 41:41purse? Like this?
- 41:42That says that he was declared to be the Son of God and Power
- 41:44by his resurrection. Unless of course the scriptures
- 41:50are not saying we can go to different events especially his
- 41:52Ascension unless of course these verses are not saying that in
- 41:56those moments in those Supernatural events.
- 41:59That was the moment that he was begotten.
- 42:00That was the moment, he was referred to as the Sun but that
- 42:03his miraculous birth his, conquering victory over death.
- 42:08Shout it to the world. This is the Son of God.
- 42:13Do we see? It's not saying he became the
- 42:16Son of God. Those events are only.
- 42:18Identifying him as Son of God. It's just affirming that he is
- 42:22truly God In the Flesh. He is truly God over death, he
- 42:28is truly God's son in which God has ascended him and approved of
- 42:32his death and his sacrificial work on behalf of humanity.
- 42:36Does that make sense? It's identifying, it's not
- 42:39saying that he became that thing or became that role.
- 42:43Here are some verses to back that up Just Popcorn.
- 42:45Versus we can see him on the screen.
- 42:46You can write them down first, John. 414.
- 42:50First John 4:14? And these versus what they do is
- 42:54really just prove that Jesus was referred to as the son before he
- 42:57came into the world. And we have seen and testify
- 42:59that the father has sent his son.
- 43:03To be the savior of the world. He sent his son to be the savior
- 43:07of the world so he didn't become the son at the Incarnation.
- 43:10He was son before he was sent first.
- 43:14John 3:8. First, John 3:8, whoever makes a
- 43:20practice at all. This verse always gets me,
- 43:22whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil.
- 43:26John is of the devil for the devil has been sinning from the
- 43:30beginning. The reason now look at this is
- 43:33powerful, the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the
- 43:37works of the devil. So the Son of God was always the
- 43:40Son of God and he manifested himself as the Son of God to
- 43:44destroy the works of Satan. The Works of the devil.
- 43:49What's the works of the devil, many things.
- 43:50And here's one of them, the power of sin over our lives, the
- 43:55Temptation that he brings that you.
- 43:56And I can now say no to because of the indwelling power of the
- 43:58Holy Spirit. The reason the Son of God
- 44:00appeared was to destroy. But the main point here is the
- 44:02Son of God appeared, the Son of God, manifested himself, Here's
- 44:07one more glacius for for Galatians 4:4.
- 44:18But when the fullness of time had come God sent forth his son.
- 44:23Born of woman born under the law.
- 44:27Do you see the order there? Sent forth his son to be born of
- 44:31woman to be born under the law. Let's just read it just because
- 44:34we can rejoice in this gospel. Truth to redeem those who were
- 44:36under the law that we might receive adoption as Sons.
- 44:40Amen. Now let's go back to that point
- 44:44of why is this important? Why is this important it?
- 44:46Can we can we maybe dialogue about that.
- 44:48Why is it important to realize that Jesus was always the Son of
- 44:51God and that he became the Son of God at one point in history?
- 44:58Bring because of his relationship with God.
- 45:00That it. He took it to mean one of the
- 45:02reasons why we believe that that kind of relationship.
- 45:33I think you guys just cover the main points when we understand
- 45:35that God the father and God the son always existed that they
- 45:39assume those roles in those were there, there identify their
- 45:42identities in essence, we understand that their
- 45:45relationship is so much richer than we can imagine.
- 45:49We understand that it enriches the understanding of the
- 45:51community within the godhead. A loving father and the son
- 45:56being the object of his love and vice versa.
- 46:00Always existing always being there.
- 46:02Now, you remove son you by default.
- 46:04Remove father and now we have a nameless God before Jesus Christ
- 46:08became incarnate More, right.
- 46:25So I think what's to understand, is that Son of God is not a
- 46:28role, as much as it is an identity and Christ him in
- 46:32nature, being the Son of God. And so we see that in enriches,
- 46:37the relationship within the godhead.
- 46:38And not only that, it provides a greater depth and understanding
- 46:41the love of God for all Humanity when he sent forth his son, his
- 46:47son. Now there are some young parents
- 46:49in here. Could you imagine giving up your
- 46:51child not for a world? That's Going to be saved
- 46:54necessarily, but for Rebels and enemies against you. so we
- 47:02understand that there is this richness and realizing the
- 47:05Eternal sonship of Christ and relationship to the father and
- 47:09in relationship to us being Redeemed by The godhead in
- 47:14Harmony and in love for one another and for us to come up
- 47:19with this salvific plan to save us.
- 47:23So this is important for us to realize, let's not undermine the
- 47:27love of God by failing to realize that he was eternally
- 47:30the son. Now, we stablished that right,
- 47:37we established the fact yesterday.
- 47:40I believe what you're saying. And Hebrews 1.
- 47:49Yeah that's mean if you look at it that's mainly speaking about
- 47:51his Ascension. So again we see we see we see
- 47:55the Incarnation, we see Resurrection, we see Ascension
- 47:59Hebrews 1, read the verses proceeding that and you realize
- 48:02that he's speaking about his Ascension.
- 48:04And so remember all these Supernatural events are just
- 48:06saying, this is the Son of God. This is the Son of God.
- 48:09This is the Son of God. It's just shouting.
- 48:12The fact that he is in fact God That's the simple explanation.
- 48:17We can spend a whole bible study on that alone, but I hope that
- 48:19makes sense. We stablished that Jesus Christ
- 48:22is God's only begotten son, meaning that he holds a unique
- 48:26one-of-a-kind relationship with the father since he eternally
- 48:29existed and had fellowship with the father, unlike any other,
- 48:32but does the Son of God mean, more than that.
- 48:37Does the term Son of God, especially in the gospels mean
- 48:41more than the fact that Jesus amongst all the other sons of
- 48:43God had a unique relationship with the father.
- 48:46Yes, it does. When Jesus referred to himself
- 48:51as the son of God. Remember that title was used for
- 48:57rulers that title was used for Adam that title was used for
- 49:01those who walk righteously with God.
- 49:03So how do we explain that title being given to Mere creatures
- 49:07and the offense? That came from that title as it
- 49:14struck the Pharisees, you guys probably know what versus we're
- 49:16going to go to in a moment now, John 5.
- 49:18Let's go to John 5. John 5 is rich in understanding
- 49:21the sonship of Christ, and let's just go there so that we can
- 49:25chew on this for a moment verse 17 of John chapter 5, But Jesus
- 49:31answered them. My father is working until now
- 49:34and I am working now. Look what John comments here.
- 49:38This is this was why the Jews were seeking all the more to
- 49:42kill him because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was
- 49:47even calling God his own father making himself equal with God.
- 49:54Now it begs the question again what is the big deal if that
- 49:57title has been referred to? Regarding other people for Jesus
- 50:03to say, son of God and them to be so offended by it.
- 50:05Now let's go to the same book but chapter 19 and see how this
- 50:09is enhanced even more John chapter, 19, 6 and 7. so, when
- 50:15it comes to Jesus trial, Verse 6 says, when the chief priests and
- 50:21the officers saw him, they cried out, crucify him, crucify, him
- 50:26pilate said to them take him yourselves and crucify him for.
- 50:30I find no guilt in him, the Jews answered him, we have a law.
- 50:34And according to that law, he ought to die because he has made
- 50:38himself the son of God. I challenge us tonight to find a
- 50:45law in the Old Testament. It says you should be put to
- 50:47death for referring to yourself as a son of God.
- 50:52It was a normal term. It spoke of those who
- 50:56represented God who are in authority and had to make
- 50:59judicial decisions. He's calling himself, Son of God
- 51:04and we have a law that says that he needs to be put to death
- 51:07because of that. There is no such law in the Old
- 51:09Testament. unless of course, when Jesus was declaring himself
- 51:15to be the son of God, their minds realize that he was making
- 51:22himself equal with God being of the same essence of God.
- 51:27And so, the only law that they can go to that with demand him
- 51:31to be. Put to death is Leviticus 24:16.
- 51:34Leviticus 24:16 says, something about blasphemy against the name
- 51:39of the Lord, and will read it, and we'll see why their behavior
- 51:41makes sense and the association that they're making between
- 51:45Jesus declaration. And their reaction.
- 51:48Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to
- 51:52death. All the congregation shall Stone
- 51:54him. Isn't that funny?
- 51:55Every time you remember those moments in John, where he says
- 51:57that he is God, I and the father are one with the they do as a
- 51:59reaction. And want to Stone him.
- 52:03In light of this, he's calling himself equal with God, he's
- 52:08elevating himself to godhood. He's claiming to be divine,
- 52:11let's kill him. And after failing and failing
- 52:15and failing. They eventually partnered with
- 52:17the Romans to get him crucified instead and they appeal to this,
- 52:25And now this is important because we have John commenting
- 52:29that they were reacting to this because Jesus was calling
- 52:31himself, God we have the Pharisees assuming and accusing
- 52:36that Jesus Christ was claiming to be God.
- 52:39This is Jesus himself. Understand himself to be God,
- 52:44that he declared that from his own lips.
- 52:46There's anybody knows scripture verse before we go to, before we
- 52:48go there. Before we go there, let's
- 52:51establish this. Let's establish this.
- 52:53Okay, that the New Testament audience the Jewish people.
- 52:58Mainly we can all agree on this. I hope understood That Jesus
- 53:03Christ, referring himself or being identified as the Son of
- 53:06God, meant that he was equal with God, in essence in nature
- 53:10and Divinity, do we all agree with that?
- 53:12We argue that, right? So this is good.
- 53:15If you're having a conversation with somebody and you bring up
- 53:18that point you point these two these verses say, would you
- 53:21agree that the people understood rightfully so that this idea of
- 53:25Son of God meant that Jesus was in essence?
- 53:28The same as God, they say, yeah. But Jesus never said it, maybe
- 53:33he did. Yes.
- 53:34Well, in the Book of John, you have, John the Baptist, who
- 53:38during the bathroom scene, you can see, you know, like he like
- 53:43before when the saying in 32 said, I saw the Spirit
- 53:46descending from heaven like a dove, any remained, upon them.
- 53:48And then 34 saying and I've seen and testified that this is the
- 53:52Son of God, this is John the Baptist testifying right, okay.
- 53:55So we have John the Baptist, the Forerunner testify and we have
- 53:57John commenting and giving commentary we have the Pharisees
- 54:00accusing. Where's Jesus.
- 54:03How about affirmation we take that from God?
- 54:05The Father. Oh God, the Father Who?
- 54:08Well, Peter saying that, he's the son of God.
- 54:11Okay. Say Flesh and Blood.
- 54:12That's a good one as well. That is a good one.
- 54:14Yes. That's a powerful one.
- 54:15In fact, put that one in the records.
- 54:17Absolutely, yes. Go ahead.
- 54:20Mike. Yeah, last chapter the Bible.
- 54:24Okay. Yeah, Revelation is the go-to
- 54:30book. If you want to prove the deity
- 54:31of Christ, absolutely there is there is that as well?
- 54:34Yes, Jesus himself said, I'll come by the spirit.
- 54:40David said, in Psalm 110, the Lord said to my Lord, yeah,
- 54:44that's another one, right? He he placed himself in that
- 54:48prophetic, Psalm that he was, in fact.
- 54:50At God, though he was a descendant of David.
- 54:52Absolutely, here's the one I'm thinking about.
- 54:54For me, when I read this verse light bulb went off.
- 54:57And I thought to myself just memorize that reference and
- 54:59bring it. Bring it before.
- 55:00Anybody is a go to verse Matthew. 26, Matthew 26.
- 55:04Verse 63 to 64 Matthew, 26, 63 to 64.
- 55:10This is when Jesus was Being interrogated, essentially, and
- 55:16in verse 63, look what he says this is so powerful.
- 55:20Oh, this is so rich, but Jesus remained silent and the hype
- 55:24reset them. I adjure you by the Living.
- 55:27God, tell us. If you are the Christ, the son
- 55:30of God, Jesus said to him, you have said, so there it is.
- 55:35As plain as it could be, tell us.
- 55:38And what did he have? In mind.
- 55:39He had in mind, not that you're like, other sons of God, tell
- 55:43us. If you're the Son of God, the
- 55:45one who is equal with God are you saying that?
- 55:48Are you saying, have you been saying that this whole time and
- 55:50just goes, you have said so. You have said so it's right
- 55:54there. It's plane.
- 55:55It's so obvious. It's so clear.
- 55:59And now we're making a transition, our Bible study
- 56:00because Jesus adds another layer to his nature.
- 56:04What does he say then the high priest were other before that.
- 56:07But I tell you, from now on, you will see, not the son of God.
- 56:11Son of Man. He could have got going with the
- 56:16idea of being a Son of God but now he throws in this title that
- 56:19we've been discussing or mentioned in the beginning.
- 56:21Rather, son of man seated at the right hand of power and coming
- 56:26on the Clouds Of Heaven. now if this was in a big deal, if this
- 56:31was him identify himself like any other sons of God or son of
- 56:34man, meant that he was just a mere human, which it does have
- 56:37that idea, especially in the Book of Ezekiel Why would this
- 56:41high priest do this? Then the high priest tore, his
- 56:44robes and said, he had uttered blasphemy?
- 56:47What further witness do we need? And I would say the same thing
- 56:50to anybody that would attack the deity of Christ.
- 56:52What further witness do, you need?
- 56:54We have a written plane. Jesus said you have said, so
- 56:58what else do you need? You have now heard his blasphemy
- 57:04now. Son of man for Jesus to say, son
- 57:06of man, that title that phrase that description can refer to
- 57:11someone who is of human origin. If you've ever read the book of
- 57:15Ezekiel, you see that God continually refers to the
- 57:17prophet, as son of man. Son of man, son of man, son of
- 57:20man. And I'm sure many people know
- 57:22here, word, Jesus was going with this statement.
- 57:25What Jesus had in mind and what the Pharisees had in mind.
- 57:30When he says I am The son of men.
- 57:34Yes, why would the Bible tell? Tell the people to Stone
- 57:39someone, if they claim to be equal to God, if we know that
- 57:44Jesus will be, proclaiming that he is equal to God.
- 57:49Well, they didn't believe he was God, so he was saying that, and
- 57:51they didn't want to believe it, so they wanted to kill him
- 57:53instead, because they thought he was obviously not who he claimed
- 57:56to be at the Bible doesn't actually, it doesn't actually
- 57:59say kill those that. Say that they are God.
- 58:02Right? Right.
- 58:03I hear what you're saying but what they were trying to do was
- 58:05they were saying that this was Blasphemous for a mere human to
- 58:08equate himself. To God is blasphemy.
- 58:11And so they Associated this claim of him, being the Son of
- 58:13God or God being his father on the same level as blaspheming,
- 58:16the name of the Lord, for many reasons to bring the name of the
- 58:18Lord down to whatever reason is involved with that statement,
- 58:22but they equated it to blasphemy and they wanted to kill him for
- 58:25it. So they appeal to Leviticus
- 58:2624:16 and they denied, the obvious claim that Christ was
- 58:30trying To make yes. Now believe he was referring to
- 58:34the Book of Daniel. That's it.
- 58:36Daniel chapter 7 when he said the son of, man, this is a key.
- 58:39Foundational understanding. What the son of man means in
- 58:42light of Jesus, use of it. Hey, we're closing here.
- 58:46And Daniel 7:13-14. The vision that the prophet has
- 58:51is the very Vision that Jesus gleans from to make himself
- 58:55known as more than just a mere man.
- 58:59This is what Daniel says. In verse 13, I saw in the night
- 59:02visions and behold with the clouds of heaven with the Clouds
- 59:07Of Heaven. Jesus said that there came one
- 59:11like a son of man. Now what Daniel saw was a Divine
- 59:18being, as we're going to find out who looked like and had the
- 59:20form of a human. That's why he's saying that one.
- 59:23Like a son of man one like of human origin.
- 59:26I'm seeing a man but we're Going to find out that this son of
- 59:30man, one like a son of man is beyond just a man.
- 59:34And he came to the Ancient of Days now who's the Ancient of
- 59:37Days? The father.
- 59:38So right here we have two distinct persons.
- 59:41Now go to verse 9 and let's realize that this son of man and
- 59:45this Ancient of Days are more equal than we think.
- 59:49As I looked how many Thrones replaced Thrones were placed,
- 59:54not one thrown plural, Thrones were placed and the Ancient of
- 1:00:00Days took his seat, his clothing was white as snow and the hair.
- 1:00:04Of his head like pure wool. Does that sound familiar?
- 1:00:08I think I've read that somewhere Revelations chapter one like
- 1:00:12father, like son, his throne was fiery flames, it's Wheels, were
- 1:00:17burning flyer. The point that we have to make
- 1:00:19here is that there are Thrones and there's already one being
- 1:00:22who took his seat and in verse 13, in comes one like a son of
- 1:00:26man. And what he's about to do, take
- 1:00:29his seat on his throne. I saw in the night visions and
- 1:00:32behold with the Clouds Of Heaven that came one like a son of man
- 1:00:35and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented.
- 1:00:37Rented before him. Now we're going to realize that
- 1:00:40this person is more than just a man.
- 1:00:43Because look what subscribe to him.
- 1:00:44Look what's granted to him and to him was given dominion and
- 1:00:49glory and a kingdom now, okay? That was given to David and some
- 1:00:54sense that was given to Kings that represented God and through
- 1:00:57the nation of Israel. But I'll go Stephen that that
- 1:00:59all peoples Nations and languages should serve him.
- 1:01:03That word serve is very significant.
- 1:01:06It's more than just obeying his commands.
- 1:01:08And in fact, the notes worship His Dominion is an everlasting
- 1:01:11Dominion. That's important.
- 1:01:12It's Snot, a temporary Kingdom. Its Everlasting.
- 1:01:16We shall not pass away and his kingdom one, that shall not be
- 1:01:19destroyed. Now we can go to Daniel chapter
- 1:01:222 and show how this Kingdom. Who is being ushered in by Jesus
- 1:01:28Christ, is in fact pointing to his deity, we won't do that
- 1:01:32tonight. We can go through the rest of
- 1:01:33the day of the prove it, but we won't just, let's focus on this.
- 1:01:36Who is this? Son of?
- 1:01:37Man, that has an everlasting Dominion.
- 1:01:39Who is the son of man were all people, no matter their
- 1:01:41ethnicity, their culture. Their language will come and
- 1:01:43serve him. Jesus says, I'm Batman.
- 1:01:47Very specifically Jesus says, you will see me coming down the
- 1:01:51on the clouds from Heaven. Go back to verse 13.
- 1:01:54If you could please, Sarah see what he says here.
- 1:01:56I saw in the night visions and behold with the Clouds Of
- 1:01:59Heaven, that's an important phrase.
- 1:02:01Don't just don't just see this beautiful site realize, the
- 1:02:05theological significance of clouds of Heaven.
- 1:02:08Why is clouds of Heaven important can anybody guess why?
- 1:02:11Clouds of Heaven is important? Because looking Muslim has a
- 1:02:14time, I just came up to met God on the mountain.
- 1:02:17That's when that's when he's able to interact with him.
- 1:02:21Okay. So you're pointing back to that
- 1:02:22and I think there's you're very close to understanding how this
- 1:02:25relates to God, how this relates to God.
- 1:02:28Is this is that one Clouds Of Heaven speaks of heavenly origin
- 1:02:31but to this idea of clouds of heaven and activity associated,
- 1:02:35with it is an element that is solely and uniquely described
- 1:02:42and appointed to you. Way. now, we're going to see the
- 1:02:47Trinity again, so, clouds of heaven with the Clouds Of Heaven
- 1:02:50that Visual. It is solely, if you read your
- 1:02:55Old Testament, very carefully, solely granted to the Lord
- 1:02:59capital L ORD, Isaiah 19. 1 can go to Isaiah, 19, 1, and we're
- 1:03:03closing here in a moment. Isaiah 19, 1.
- 1:03:10In Oracle concerning Egypt behold, the Lord is riding who's
- 1:03:14writing the Lord Yahweh? The deny Divine name of God.
- 1:03:18The Lord is riding on a swift. Cloud and comes to Egypt, and
- 1:03:24the idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence and the Heart of
- 1:03:27the Egyptians will melt within them.
- 1:03:29So, this idea of God, coming in swiftly, on a cloud in Act of
- 1:03:34judgment in an act of judgment, he's coming on.
- 1:03:36A cloud is ascribed to Yahweh. We see the same thing in Psalms
- 1:03:42104 1, 2 3, Psalms 104 1 2 3. So we see that Yahweh is riding
- 1:03:48on a swift. Cloud and comes to Egypt, bless
- 1:03:51the Lord, O My Soul, O Lord my God, you are very great.
- 1:03:55You are clothed with Splendor and Majesty, covering yourself
- 1:03:59with light as with a garment stretching out the heavens like
- 1:04:02a tenth verse 3. He lays the beams of his
- 1:04:05Chambers on the waters. He makes the clouds his
- 1:04:07chariots, his cheery, he rides on the wings of the Wind.
- 1:04:13We go to Nahum. We'd have to turn in their him,
- 1:04:14says how the clouds are like the dust of his feet.
- 1:04:18And so, we have these verses that show how these clouds and
- 1:04:22God being associated with them. Mainly in the looks like as an
- 1:04:25act of judgment coming to rule coming to intervene in a
- 1:04:30specific moment is granted solely to Yahweh but not just
- 1:04:34Yahweh. Because when you go to Daniel 7,
- 1:04:35it's given to the son of man. Not just to this one.
- 1:04:37Like a son of man by Jesus. I'm coming down with a Clouds Of
- 1:04:40Heaven. Here's our final verse.
- 1:04:42Before we worship this, God Revelation 1:7.
- 1:04:45Just to put the final nail in the coffin.
- 1:04:51Behold he is coming with the clouds.
- 1:04:54And every eye will see him even those who pierced him and all
- 1:04:58the tribes of the earth will wail on account of him even so,
- 1:05:01amen. He's coming back on the clouds
- 1:05:06and when he said that the high priest knew exactly what he
- 1:05:08meant his mind's racing, all the way to Daniel chapter 7 ripped,
- 1:05:12his robe. And said, let's get rid of him.
- 1:05:18So we established and conclusion that this idea of God, being the
- 1:05:22Son of God means that he is uniquely related to God as the
- 1:05:27Eternal son and also claiming to be equal with God in essence and
- 1:05:33nature based on the reactions of those who heard him say such a
- 1:05:36thing, the son of man does not only speak about his human
- 1:05:40nature, though, it can describe that, but more significantly, it
- 1:05:43describes Daniel chapter 7. The deification.
- 1:05:47The OT, the Divinity of this man like figure, that was really God
- 1:05:52who became flesh who is flesh, who is coming back on the clouds
- 1:05:58and every eye will see him even those who pierced him.
- 1:06:02I think about this and this isn't part of the Bible said but
- 1:06:05just this versus come to mind. Right before the Bible study
- 1:06:08about the love that the father has for the son.
- 1:06:13How it's a unique love how to special love because it was
- 1:06:16eternal was before all creation. We become the objects of his
- 1:06:20love through adoption as we respond to the gospel.
- 1:06:24But do you ever wonder what the intensity of that?
- 1:06:26Love is for you and me. John 17:24, please.
- 1:06:33John 17:20 we've already established that there is a
- 1:06:35unique relationship that Jesus has with the father because it
- 1:06:39was eternal before eternity past.
- 1:06:41And now here, are you and I coming into relationship with
- 1:06:44the father and look what Jesus says in his prayer.
- 1:06:46Father, I desire that they also whom you have, given me may be
- 1:06:50with me where I am to see my glory, the verse before that,
- 1:06:52but we can read this. You have give me because you
- 1:06:54loved me before the foundation of the world, i in them and you
- 1:06:58in me that they may become perfectly one so that the world
- 1:07:00may know that you sent me and love them.
- 1:07:03Even as you love me. Let's read that very slowly, I
- 1:07:10and them. And you and me that they may
- 1:07:14become perfectly one. So that the world may know that
- 1:07:21you sent me and in sending me, what are you making a statement
- 1:07:25of God? What statement is god?
- 1:07:27Making by sending his son and loved them even as you love me.
- 1:07:34Having a bad day. I get that theologically but I
- 1:07:40need to feel it in my heart. What?
- 1:07:43I get the theological but I need that to be the source of my
- 1:07:47strength. Lord, I need to realize that So
- 1:07:52when I don't feel loved, I have the love of the Father.
- 1:07:56The same way he loves the Sun. Wow, he was eternally the son.
- 1:08:04I'm adopted by grace. but the intensity of his love for the
- 1:08:08Eternal son is the same intensity of love for me an
- 1:08:12enemy and rebel of God, I was brought in because the sun came
- 1:08:20show me your God and tell me if he's as beautiful as this.
- 1:08:26because you will find no other, I guarantee you that Making your
- 1:08:31prayer to say. Lord, let me really feel that.
- 1:08:34Let me really know that. And you know why you're going to
- 1:08:36go to heaven, and I'm going to go to heaven, many reasons, but
- 1:08:38verse 24, we went there ahead, but let's just read it again.
- 1:08:41Father. Oh, I desire.
- 1:08:44This is Christ. Did I have for you and me?
- 1:08:47I desire. That they also whom you have,
- 1:08:48given me may be with me where I am now listen to this.
- 1:08:52What did Jesus say? Or what's the commentary when
- 1:08:54Jesus appointed the 12 apostles? Mark chapter 3, says that he
- 1:08:58appointed Twelve Apostles that they may be with him and that
- 1:09:03they may preach in his name. Don't flip the order.
- 1:09:07It's not that they made preached in his name and be with me.
- 1:09:09Their main reason why Jesus appointed the 12 was primarily
- 1:09:13to be in fellowship with them. And from that place of
- 1:09:16Fellowship, now go preach my name.
- 1:09:19Realize my love realize how much I care for you realize the depth
- 1:09:24of My Sacrifice, you realize that it's nothing that what you
- 1:09:28do or how you perform that earns my love.
- 1:09:30I want you to be with me. I point you to be with me now go
- 1:09:33preach. The best preachers understand
- 1:09:37the love of God. The best preachers are those who
- 1:09:39know fellowship with God, those who are most effective in their
- 1:09:42evangelism. Those are most effective in the
- 1:09:44service of God. Have put this priority.
- 1:09:46First OU wants to be with me. Before he wants me to do
- 1:09:51something for him. I desire that they may be where
- 1:09:55I am but not just to be with me what to see my glory.
- 1:10:00To see my glory that you have given me because you loved me
- 1:10:04before the foundation of the world.
- 1:10:06We've been studying the person of Jesus Christ and I hope that
- 1:10:10you and I have come to the conclusion that he's glorious.
- 1:10:13These wonderful that he's Majestic that he's holy and
- 1:10:16Sanctified amongst all the things.
- 1:10:18But there's a glory that we have yet to see him.
- 1:10:21There is a Brilliance of Christ that awaits for you and I to
- 1:10:24Marvel at what proof second Thessalonians.
- 1:10:28Please second Thessalonians, chapter 1 7 to 10 and let's just
- 1:10:32hear the final faith of those who reject the gospel, and those
- 1:10:36who embrace the gospel, and to Grant relief to you, who are
- 1:10:41afflicted as well to us. When the Lord Jesus is revealed
- 1:10:44from heaven with his mighty angels, we talked about that in
- 1:10:47flaming fire, so he's not coming down an acute cloud.
- 1:10:52Inflicting Vengeance on those who do not know God.
- 1:10:55And on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, they
- 1:10:59will suffer the punishment of Eternal destruction away from
- 1:11:02the presence of the Lord. And from the glory of his mind,
- 1:11:04that is the final fate of those who have said no to, Jesus
- 1:11:06Christ who have rejected God who don't want to know, God who
- 1:11:10don't want to embrace his grace. That's the final fate, but
- 1:11:13what's the fate of you? And I who have embraced him and
- 1:11:16loved him and surrender to him the next verse when he comes on
- 1:11:19that day to be glorified in, Saints.
- 1:11:23Look at this and to be marveled at among all who have believed
- 1:11:28you want to know what's going to happen when we go with him.
- 1:11:31We're just going to Marvel at him.
- 1:11:33We're just going to look at him. We're going to be stunned by
- 1:11:36what we're going to see how long are we going to be stunned for a
- 1:11:39thousand years? Oh yeah and then another
- 1:11:40thousand years oh yeah another 10,000 years oh yeah add a
- 1:11:44million years to that and we haven't even reached we having
- 1:11:46to scratch the surface of how much we're going to Marvel at
- 1:11:49him who have believed. So Christ in that prayer says
- 1:11:54those who have given me mord. Father, I want them to Marvel at
- 1:11:58me. I wanted to be with me so that
- 1:12:00they can behold my glory. And that's why you can say what
- 1:12:06the psalmist said in Psalm 73 25.
- 1:12:08Whom have I in heaven, but you, Jesus, if you're not in heaven,
- 1:12:11I don't want to go to heaven. There are a lot of people that
- 1:12:13want having with Jesus in there. But I want to go to heaven
- 1:12:18because I want to Marvel at him. I want to Behold Him.
- 1:12:22I just want to look at him and my prayer.
- 1:12:24I pray as yours as well. Lord, I feel the veil.
- 1:12:29I feel the limitation of My Flesh.
- 1:12:31I feel the limitation of my mind.
- 1:12:32I feel the limitation of even understand this.
- 1:12:34I need your Holy Spirit to illuminate.
- 1:12:37God, give me as much of your glory.
- 1:12:39As I can on this side of Heaven. Before I see the fullness of it.
- 1:12:43I don't want to waste my life, just waiting for that day.
- 1:12:45I Want Your Glory. Now as much as I can handle.
- 1:12:47Fill my cup to the brim. Lord speak to my heart.
- 1:12:50As much as you can reveal yourself and Lord when your
- 1:12:54glory shines, that all the lights of the world them out.
- 1:12:58So you can receive my devotion to adoration until my final
- 1:13:01breath. Let's pray.
- 1:13:06Lori just come into your presence.
- 1:13:09And we bask in the Revelation that he your son Jesus is, in
- 1:13:15fact, the son of God. is in fact the son of man, Lord, your word
- 1:13:24is still true. We feel the weight of its
- 1:13:27conviction. We sense the supernatural in it.
- 1:13:34We realize that this is not an ordinary text. but from cover to
- 1:13:39cover, It confirms the reality of Who You Are.
- 1:13:44And it confirms what you have done.
- 1:13:49And it promises, what will come. and Lord despite this
- 1:13:54technologically advanced age and despite all of our knowledge and
- 1:13:58creasing and all of the busyness and all of the things that
- 1:14:02seduce us We realize in this moment that one day, you're
- 1:14:07going to come on the clouds. And you're going to have
- 1:14:12dominion and Reign Over all these things forever and ever.
- 1:14:17And Lord we don't want anybody in this room to be on that side
- 1:14:20where you will flick Vengeance on those who do not know God and
- 1:14:24have not obeyed, the gospel of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
- 1:14:27Well, we pray that every person by your grace and by your spirit
- 1:14:30even now is he's here. To convict any heart.
- 1:14:35That is not made that decision so that they can be on the side
- 1:14:38in which they can await the moment where they will Marvel at
- 1:14:42your glory forever and ever and ever.
- 1:14:49And Lord we pray now, even as we sing to you a you would just
- 1:14:53give us a glimpse of your glory. that Lord, we would Worship you
- 1:15:00in light of the glory that is revealed in the Bible.
- 1:15:03But oh God, for the sake of our own hearts.
- 1:15:07Remove the veil. Lord thin it out.
- 1:15:13We want to see you. We want to behold you.
- 1:15:19And let the light of the gospel of Christ.
- 1:15:21Let the light that shines forth from the face of Jesus.
- 1:15:24Blind us from everything else. Captivate our hearts again.
- 1:15:31Bring us in again, Lord. Help us realize that the father
- 1:15:39loves us. as much as he loves his son, I can't comprehend it.
- 1:15:49I don't deserve it. It doesn't make sense.
- 1:15:53But it's true. And that's our motivation at the
- 1:15:57sin against you. That's our motivation.
- 1:16:00Not to live our lives for ourselves.
- 1:16:03That's our motivation to say. Oh God. if you can love me with
- 1:16:08such intensity, Help me love you with greater intensity.
- 1:16:16Yes. Lord tonight we worship you in
- 1:16:19song in Jesus name. Amen.
- 1:16:16Yes. Lord tonight we worship you in
- 1:16:19song in Jesus name. Amen.
