- 0:54It's lunch time!
- 0:59Try to add a little melody to it
- 1:00today.
- 1:00I like that.
- 1:01No,
- 1:01it's a good little run towards the end
- 1:03of it.
- 1:04Big fan.
- 1:07I wish people could see our dance party
- 1:10before we go live.
- 1:13It's a catchy song, man.
- 1:14It is a catchy song.
- 1:15It is, man.
- 1:16It is a catchy song.
- 1:17And I'm like, I'm grooving back and forth.
- 1:19You've got the hands going.
- 1:22You know, we're getting into it.
- 1:24And I wish there was a way you
- 1:27could show us while that's playing.
- 1:31I got my George Jefferson.
- 1:37Whole lot of that going on.
- 1:38And if you,
- 1:40if you're not old enough to understand the
- 1:41reference,
- 1:42not old enough to understand that
- 1:45reference, then I don't,
- 1:46I don't know what to do for you.
- 1:49Well,
- 1:49another thing that happened to me today is
- 1:51I have one o'clock meeting.
- 1:52So it's one of those days where you
- 1:55didn't get out and get it done.
- 1:57Yeah.
- 1:57And, uh, I had quarter to twelve.
- 2:00I was like, Oh shit.
- 2:02I have no time to eat lunch.
- 2:06So went over,
- 2:08grabbed a handful of beef jerky,
- 2:10put it in my pocket.
- 2:12Pocket jerky.
- 2:13All right.
- 2:14Jerky, man.
- 2:15And I'm sitting there thinking, you know,
- 2:19the grandma's with the butterscotches,
- 2:22you know, in church and stuff.
- 2:24And I'm the grumpy old man with some
- 2:26jerky in my pocket.
- 2:28Pocket jerky.
- 2:28That's better than pocket sand.
- 2:31I will say that.
- 2:34Pocket jerky Scott just living his best
- 2:35life out here.
- 2:37Is that jerky in your pocket?
- 2:40Yes.
- 2:42You mean to tell me you don't have
- 2:43pocket jerking?
- 2:46If you don't have pocket jerky,
- 2:48you're not living, man.
- 2:48I'm trying to tell you,
- 2:49you ain't living right.
- 2:51Get on Scott's level.
- 2:53People see you pulling stuff out of your
- 2:55pocket and eat that nice.
- 2:57Yeah.
- 2:58Yeah.
- 2:58Just beef jerky with the Clydesdale.
- 3:02Jerky with the Clydesdale.
- 3:06A hundred percent, dude.
- 3:07I love it.
- 3:10Pocket jerky somehow sounds perverted.
- 3:12It does a little bit.
- 3:14only if you think that way vicky that's
- 3:16mostly on you big mostly on you just
- 3:19saying uh trent has had some pocket food
- 3:25in her day you know what i believe
- 3:27that she's a cop man like you gotta
- 3:29do what you gotta do sometimes get jerky
- 3:32and get jazzy that's the new shirt right
- 3:35there that's it get jerky and get jazzy
- 3:40I hope I see you sometime soon because
- 3:43I'm going to ask you if you have
- 3:43any jerky on you whenever I run across
- 3:46you.
- 3:47You got any jerky in your pocket?
- 3:49As a matter of fact...
- 3:50I could use some protein right now if
- 3:52you happen to have any.
- 3:53Let me reach into my pocket.
- 3:55Hold on for a second.
- 3:57There you go.
- 3:58Wait, it's under my keys.
- 4:00Hold on.
- 4:01Would you like a beef stick or just
- 4:04a dehydrated jerky or...
- 4:07You know what?
- 4:07At this point, beggars can't be choosers.
- 4:11Mostly what I don't want is the lint
- 4:15associated with pocket jerking.
- 4:18That can't be good.
- 4:20Yeah.
- 4:21Dude,
- 4:21desperate times call for desperate
- 4:23measures.
- 4:23You got to do what you got to
- 4:24do sometimes.
- 4:28Hey,
- 4:28I'm sure a games athlete on the way
- 4:30from event three to event four has had
- 4:33some pocket jerky.
- 4:35Absolutely.
- 4:37Or the closest approximation thereof.
- 4:39I mean,
- 4:40whatever that ends up looking like.
- 4:42I'm imagining Brent Fikowski probably has
- 4:45some chicken and rice in his pocket
- 4:46somewhere.
- 4:46Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
- 4:48Yeah.
- 4:49Would not surprise me in the least.
- 4:52Probably not the rice just loose in his
- 4:54pocket, but.
- 4:57I got to use protection for pocket jerky.
- 5:01Oh.
- 5:04Police.
- 5:06You know, I should never,
- 5:08ever wonder if we're going to have
- 5:09something to talk about on this show.
- 5:11No, we're good.
- 5:12We're good.
- 5:14Somehow, some way,
- 5:17topics just pop up for us.
- 5:19So speaking of,
- 5:20because you asked me to save it yesterday.
- 5:23Oh,
- 5:23I have it at the top of my
- 5:24list, man.
- 5:25Yeah, perfect.
- 5:26Now, everybody get ready.
- 5:27Corey is going to take control of the
- 5:29show and do a share screen.
- 5:32Hold on for a second.
- 5:34My little boys growing up.
- 5:35Oh yeah.
- 5:36It's fantastic guys.
- 5:38Um,
- 5:40so it turns out Pucks of Tony does
- 5:41in fact have a high school and we
- 5:45found their mascot.
- 5:49who looks a whole lot like,
- 5:53if you've ever been to Buc-ee's,
- 5:54this looks a whole lot like the Buc-ee's
- 5:57beaver that is sitting outside.
- 5:58They are, in fact, the... The Chucks.
- 6:03The Chucks, yes, thank you.
- 6:04They are, in fact, the Chucks.
- 6:07So if you are not from Western
- 6:09Pennsylvania, woodchuck, groundhog,
- 6:13pretty much the same thing.
- 6:14Well, it's the same thing.
- 6:15Yeah.
- 6:15They just went with the chucks instead of
- 6:17the hogs, which I mean, whatever.
- 6:21One or six of one half a dozen
- 6:22or the other.
- 6:23But there we go.
- 6:24That is this statue of their mascot,
- 6:26which is outside of their school.
- 6:28And I love that they gave him a
- 6:29key to the city in the palm of
- 6:32his hand.
- 6:33As they should.
- 6:34I mean, Scott,
- 6:34we're talking about this yesterday.
- 6:36Of course they gave him the key to
- 6:38the city.
- 6:39He's in charge of the weather.
- 6:43He, at the most, excuse me,
- 6:45at the least,
- 6:46he deserves a key to the city,
- 6:47if not a key to the whole damn
- 6:48country.
- 6:49So there he is, ladies and gentlemen.
- 6:52And for those of you who weren't with
- 6:53us yesterday,
- 6:56I had a story about Punxsutawney and going
- 6:59to see the Groundhog live.
- 7:01And this is what came of it.
- 7:03This is what came of it.
- 7:09all right now oh and he knows how
- 7:10to stop sharing too look at that if
- 7:14i had two screens we'd be in trouble
- 7:19uh jason bourne you are not lying
- 7:21groundhog day is such a great movie
- 7:23groundhog day is a fantastic film do you
- 7:26know what's great about groundhog day is
- 7:28the underrated acting ability of chris
- 7:30elliott dude yes
- 7:34Chris Elliott and the dude that played the
- 7:39insurance salesman, whose name escapes me.
- 7:42Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:43He was the principal in the Goldbergs.
- 7:48Yes,
- 7:49and he was in a couple of different
- 7:51things.
- 7:51He was in sneakers as well.
- 7:53Played a real good geek computer nerd guy.
- 7:56But just to keep doing that same thing.
- 8:00Ned Ryerson.
- 8:01Yeah.
- 8:02Yes.
- 8:04Yes.
- 8:05Needle nose Ned.
- 8:06Yes.
- 8:06Yes.
- 8:07Yes.
- 8:09But for him to be able to like,
- 8:11repeat it over and over and over again.
- 8:14And like, even though, you know,
- 8:15Bill Murray's doing different things every
- 8:17single time, dude, I thought that was,
- 8:18it's one of my favorite parts of the
- 8:20movie.
- 8:20The best time though, is when Bill Murray,
- 8:24Ned's Ned,
- 8:25and he's so taken aback that a guy
- 8:28is being like him to him.
- 8:30Outstanding.
- 8:31Yes.
- 8:31Yeah.
- 8:31That's, that's awesome.
- 8:41Well,
- 8:43I don't have a ton of time today,
- 8:44so I want to jump into some CrossFit
- 8:46stuff.
- 8:46Sure.
- 8:47It's super,
- 8:48super exciting announcement last night.
- 8:51Did you say it?
- 8:51I did not.
- 8:54It ought to be super exciting right now
- 8:55to me.
- 9:02The pig and the snail.
- 9:04Both.
- 9:06Both are coming back for the twentieth
- 9:10anniversary.
- 9:14Yes, indeed.
- 9:15Are you kidding me?
- 9:17That's amazing.
- 9:19That's going to be fun to watch.
- 9:21Whatever it is.
- 9:22I don't even care if they're not in
- 9:24the same event.
- 9:25So much the better.
- 9:26So this is how my mind works, right?
- 9:30Put them together,
- 9:31and it will be the slowest sprint in
- 9:33the history of the CrossFit.
- 9:34A hundred percent.
- 9:35You want to talk about power output?
- 9:37Let's see what you got.
- 9:39Because that snail, dude,
- 9:40the way it's built,
- 9:42you can't build momentum.
- 9:43Nope.
- 9:45It's going to go as fast as it
- 9:46goes.
- 9:47And that is it.
- 9:48That thing is outstanding, dude.
- 9:51Oh, I love it.
- 9:55Uh,
- 9:55now they need to bring back the
- 9:56wheelbarrow, the real one,
- 9:58not the rogue one that's built to hold
- 10:01cannon balls.
- 10:02And no, no, no, no.
- 10:04The one that,
- 10:05the one that they built like three hours
- 10:07before they went down and picked up a
- 10:11whole bunch of them that, uh,
- 10:15once his face just picked up and it
- 10:16just went that was a rogue one wasn't
- 10:20it that was a rogue one that was
- 10:21a rogue one yeah one of them actually
- 10:23fell apart on the first time they did
- 10:25it it broke broke yeah yeah because they
- 10:28went to home depot and we're just like
- 10:30i need
- 10:38I mean, I love both apparatus.
- 10:41Because if you do not,
- 10:43if you are not efficient,
- 10:44you are going to get demolished.
- 10:48Quickly.
- 10:49Axe Matt Fraser.
- 10:50Right.
- 10:51As he fell off a rope.
- 10:52You know,
- 10:54two of our greatest champions have fallen
- 10:56from the rope.
- 10:58One of them had a crash mat.
- 11:00One of them didn't.
- 11:01One of them did not.
- 11:02One of them's crash mat was a Home
- 11:03Depot bucket.
- 11:08Which is not what you want to...
- 11:10Chuck Buck gets looking up going, oh shit.
- 11:12Yeah, oh no.
- 11:14Which is not what you want to land
- 11:15on coming from, you know, twelve,
- 11:17fifteen feet in the air.
- 11:19Not a fantastic thing.
- 11:20Dude, that's... Okay, that's good news.
- 11:23I like that a lot.
- 11:24A whole lot.
- 11:26Whether it's climbing snail,
- 11:27whether they put both together,
- 11:29whether it's, you know,
- 11:31twenty five pig flips for time.
- 11:34I don't care.
- 11:34I really don't care.
- 11:35I'm just glad that they're both back.
- 11:37The only big flip,
- 11:38the pig flip is so iconic, right?
- 11:41Yeah.
- 11:43One,
- 11:43because it's been part of two of the
- 11:45most iconic events.
- 11:47events ever in the, in the CrossFit games.
- 11:50It was part of the Capitol.
- 11:51It's how it started.
- 11:53Yep.
- 11:53And it was,
- 11:54it was that event that Matt Frazier fell
- 11:57off the damn rope.
- 11:59Yeah.
- 11:59Because he never did a tire flip.
- 12:02Everybody said,
- 12:03don't do a curl when you get it
- 12:05to your knees.
- 12:06And what did my dumb ass do?
- 12:08Fifteen curls.
- 12:10That's exactly what he said.
- 12:11I watched that documentary not that long
- 12:14ago.
- 12:15And every time that part comes up,
- 12:16because then they start telling me about,
- 12:17don't worry about it, dude.
- 12:18Your rope climbs will get better.
- 12:20He's like,
- 12:20my legless rope climbs are fine.
- 12:21Yeah.
- 12:25He had no grip left from the pig
- 12:26flip, man.
- 12:27No grip.
- 12:28That's look,
- 12:29that stuff right there is what made me
- 12:32a Matt Fraser fan from the get go.
- 12:35He's like, no dude, I'm my,
- 12:37cause I know how that kind of stuff
- 12:38feels when people tell you stuff and it's
- 12:40like, dude, my rope climbs are fine.
- 12:42It's not what happened.
- 12:44I understand what you saw.
- 12:46Right.
- 12:47But what you saw was not actually what
- 12:48took place.
- 12:50I understand you are correct.
- 12:52It was also part of the Burden Run.
- 12:54It was just a different version of the
- 12:55pig.
- 12:55It was a different version of the pig.
- 12:57It's the same ones that JR has at
- 13:00Crash, those with the handles on them.
- 13:02I even think it was an iteration before
- 13:04that because those are flip sleds.
- 13:06Yeah.
- 13:07I think this was like Rogue's first draft
- 13:10at the Burden Run.
- 13:12And then they decided,
- 13:14then they took away the handles.
- 13:15Like,
- 13:16now we're going to cover this thing in
- 13:18vinyl.
- 13:19And you're going to have nothing to grip.
- 13:22There's like a little ledge.
- 13:24So like the top of it looks like
- 13:25a Lego, right?
- 13:27We had one at Polaris.
- 13:29Yeah.
- 13:29So that's,
- 13:29but that's all you get is what I'm
- 13:30saying.
- 13:31Like it's what.
- 13:32If you call that a ledge,
- 13:33like I don't want to be out on
- 13:34it.
- 13:34That's for sure.
- 13:35Right.
- 13:37Like you got to kind of.
- 13:38Cause it is, there's not much to grip.
- 13:42No.
- 13:43And I'm, that's by design.
- 13:45I guarantee it.
- 13:47Yeah,
- 13:47I think they saw the bird and run
- 13:50and they made the two point O version
- 13:52with the red vinyl around it.
- 13:54Yeah.
- 13:55And then the pretty picture of the rogue
- 13:57pig, like the pig on the side.
- 14:01Yeah, fantastic.
- 14:02Better branding on two point O.
- 14:05This is how much the pig pissed Matt
- 14:07Fraser off,
- 14:08is he bought one for use after those
- 14:15games and was not going to get beaten
- 14:17by it again.
- 14:18That was amazing.
- 14:18There's something wrong in the world,
- 14:24Dave.
- 14:25I don't know what it is.
- 14:29Thanks a lot, Kenneth DeLapp.
- 14:30Fantastic.
- 14:31Sorry, my Steven Tyler scream is... Oh,
- 14:40that's all right, dude.
- 14:41Not the perfect pitch yet.
- 14:44Steven Tyler, is it?
- 14:45No,
- 14:45that takes a whole lot of work and
- 14:47effort to be able to get to do
- 14:49the things that he does with his voice.
- 14:53Even though he does, in fact,
- 14:54look like an eighty five year old retired
- 14:55lady.
- 14:59So that happened yesterday.
- 15:03Super stoked for that.
- 15:04Shit, yeah.
- 15:07I also want to...
- 15:09So I put out a comment.
- 15:11I put out a reel from Sunday Night
- 15:13Show where Jamie...
- 15:15We were talking about...
- 15:17streaming and pay-per-view and someone in
- 15:19the comments said,
- 15:21CrossFit's going to add pay-per-view and F
- 15:22the whole thing up.
- 15:24Right.
- 15:24And Jamie was like,
- 15:26in response to that comment,
- 15:27like I would rather do a pay-per-view for
- 15:30that event than pay for a monthly
- 15:32subscription, essentially.
- 15:34I'm paraphrasing big time.
- 15:35Right.
- 15:36Do you know how many people have said,
- 15:38if CrossFit goes to pay-per-view,
- 15:42then they're only going to have two
- 15:43viewers and blah, blah, blah.
- 15:44Right.
- 15:45Well,
- 15:45you're going to have three because in
- 15:47addition to Jamie,
- 15:48I'm going to go ahead and pay to
- 15:49watch the games.
- 15:50And I'm the same.
- 15:51I feel the same way she does.
- 15:52Like, I'm not paying.
- 15:54Hey, call it whatever.
- 15:57Flow Elite.
- 15:57Flow Elite.
- 15:58I think she called it Watcha Gigi.
- 16:00Yeah, she did call it Watcha Gigi.
- 16:02I don't understand how she feels.
- 16:04I'm not paying Flow Elite.
- 16:06whatever ridiculous amount of money they
- 16:08want a month for all the in-between stuff.
- 16:11Because I don't care about the rest of
- 16:13the niche events that they cover,
- 16:14you know,
- 16:16that they show up for and stream.
- 16:17Especially considering the fact that their
- 16:18streaming is not always fantastic.
- 16:22It still cuts out from time to time.
- 16:24I need to hit this button just real
- 16:25quick.
- 16:25Hold on.
- 16:26Go for it.
- 16:26Hold on.
- 16:35The expectation that you get entertainment
- 16:39for free boggles my freaking mind.
- 16:44We have been so spoiled in the CrossFit
- 16:46world that they have put on a high-value
- 16:49production event at the games,
- 16:53at regionals,
- 16:54for years and years and years for free.
- 16:59And now, anything less than that...
- 17:02perfect stream we bitch about and we're
- 17:08not paying for it we're not paying for
- 17:12it you would not walk into a movie
- 17:16theater and expect to watch a movie for
- 17:18free you would not go to a baseball
- 17:23game and get and jump over the turnstile
- 17:28and not hand them a ticket
- 17:33Not even jump over to turnstile.
- 17:34Just be allowed through.
- 17:35Right.
- 17:37You will get tackled faster than Ray Lewis
- 17:41getting a quarterback.
- 17:42A hundred percent.
- 17:45The fact that people expect their
- 17:47entertainment to be free is mind boggling
- 17:50to me.
- 17:54Demand it.
- 17:56And we know CrossFit doesn't have Reebok
- 17:59money anymore.
- 18:00CrossFit doesn't have the big sponsorships
- 18:02anymore.
- 18:03Go to any live event and see the
- 18:05three vendors that are there.
- 18:07You realize that the well is tap dry.
- 18:12They get upset at the thought that
- 18:15Mayhem's event might not be streamed.
- 18:21or that Legends event might not be
- 18:23streamed,
- 18:24or they get mad at frickin' Savant's crew
- 18:28for going up in the woods to put
- 18:31on a live stream,
- 18:33and it doesn't work perfectly the entire
- 18:36time.
- 18:37Are you kidding me?
- 18:40Have you seen where NorCal was?
- 18:43And did you have to pay for NorCal?
- 18:46No!
- 18:47No.
- 18:49It was free.
- 18:54And all those people donated all that time
- 18:58and their resources to give it to you
- 19:01for free.
- 19:02And it's still not good enough.
- 19:04And it's, oh my God,
- 19:05it was blurry for ten seconds.
- 19:09Yeah, it was.
- 19:11If you can do better, by all means,
- 19:14do better.
- 19:16That's been our rule for get for a
- 19:18open workout redos since I've been doing
- 19:21the open.
- 19:22Like,
- 19:22I don't know if I should redo that.
- 19:23Can you do better?
- 19:24Yeah.
- 19:24Well then do better.
- 19:25Okay, cool.
- 19:25I'll go ahead and redo it.
- 19:27And I feel the same way about the
- 19:29rest of it, dude.
- 19:29Like if you can put it on for
- 19:31better, by all means, please come do it.
- 19:34Like I am telling you where we are
- 19:37at a line where I'm not sure the
- 19:40CrossFit games are going to happen much
- 19:42longer.
- 19:46Because the most important thing that
- 19:47CrossFit needs is affiliates and a company
- 19:54to oversee those affiliates.
- 19:58The games are an add-on.
- 20:00And at some point,
- 20:01if it doesn't make economical sense
- 20:04anymore or isn't driving people to
- 20:06affiliates, it's going to go away.
- 20:10So if they're looking for another revenue
- 20:14stream,
- 20:15to help fund it,
- 20:18our first response should not be to bitch
- 20:20about it.
- 20:24The same people that bitch about that will
- 20:27go and buy a twenty five dollar iced
- 20:30mocha frappuccino three times a week and
- 20:34not even blink.
- 20:36But God forbid,
- 20:37I need to throw twenty dollars towards a
- 20:40to be able to watch a stream all
- 20:42weekend of my favorite athletes complete
- 20:44competing in the thing that I do.
- 20:50Nothing is free, Scott.
- 20:51I pay my box who pays CrossFit a
- 20:53fee.
- 20:53I paid for the open.
- 20:54I paid for quarterfinals to pay for
- 20:56semifinals.
- 20:57Yeah.
- 20:57I paid enough to view the games for
- 20:58free.
- 21:00if I pay to see matrix one,
- 21:02matrix two, matrix three,
- 21:05I still have to pay to see matrix
- 21:06four.
- 21:07Yeah, but don't, it sucked so bad.
- 21:09It was terrible.
- 21:10Bad example.
- 21:14I understand what you mean.
- 21:15Rocky two, Rocky three.
- 21:17And then I don't get to go see
- 21:19Rocky four for free.
- 21:20Right.
- 21:24Right.
- 21:25And,
- 21:29I feel like the athletes are the ones
- 21:36they're trying to milk the money out of
- 21:40when it should be the people watching it
- 21:42for entertainment.
- 21:45I got one of my real good friends
- 21:46who does not do CrossFit and never has,
- 21:49but watches the games every year,
- 21:50like keeps up with the season and whatnot
- 21:51because he thinks the stuff that they do
- 21:53is incredible.
- 21:55He's more of a,
- 21:56I wouldn't even say bodybuilder,
- 21:57but just he keeps himself fit.
- 21:58He works out, you know,
- 22:00four or five days a week, whatever.
- 22:02And like when it comes around to the
- 22:04games time,
- 22:04I know I'll get a text from Brad
- 22:06at some point and we'll have a
- 22:08conversation about what Tia's doing or
- 22:10what this one's doing or what that one's
- 22:11doing or whatnot.
- 22:13And he would probably pay to watch the
- 22:15games all weekend,
- 22:17even though he does not do CrossFit
- 22:18because, oh, behind the paywall.
- 22:20All right, cool.
- 22:22What is it, twenty bucks for the weekend?
- 22:23Sweet.
- 22:25Avera says,
- 22:25if you do not want to grow CrossFit,
- 22:27yeah, they should charge a fee.
- 22:28Almost nobody cares about competitive
- 22:30fitness as it is.
- 22:34If you can show me a correlation to
- 22:36putting on a great production of the games
- 22:39and the growth of CrossFit,
- 22:41then I'm with you.
- 22:45If you can show me a games production
- 22:47where they advertise something besides
- 22:49CrossFit itself,
- 22:51it's like you're selling ice to Eskimos at
- 22:54that point.
- 22:55Like the ads during the CrossFit games,
- 22:58generally speaking,
- 22:59are for CrossFit boxes.
- 23:02So you might get sunk on the odd
- 23:04chance that there are people watching,
- 23:06like my boy Brad,
- 23:07who is not going to go to CrossFit
- 23:08games,
- 23:09but nobody's stumbling across it on the
- 23:11internet.
- 23:12You're not stumbling it across on YouTube.
- 23:14You're not flipping through channels on
- 23:16YouTube and what is this?
- 23:17Why are these people running around and
- 23:19throwing barbells around?
- 23:21So that's kind of a really,
- 23:26really weird thing.
- 23:28How insane would it be if Dave just
- 23:30throws an insane twentieth year and they
- 23:32just cut it next year?
- 23:36It was never supposed to be.
- 23:38What we see now was never supposed to
- 23:40happen.
- 23:40It was never supposed to happen.
- 23:46And the problem is they got spoiled with
- 23:48a shit ton of Reebok money.
- 23:50For years.
- 23:52And it grew beyond what it should have
- 23:55in those days.
- 23:57Too quick, too fast,
- 23:58unsustainable for the amount without them
- 24:01steady,
- 24:01just pumping cash into it without Reebok
- 24:04still just having that pipeline of money,
- 24:07just rolling on through it.
- 24:08It was never going to,
- 24:09it was never going to,
- 24:11you need to have,
- 24:14it needs to be some, some, some way,
- 24:17some way, shape or form sustainable.
- 24:18Because if it's not,
- 24:19especially with this new CEO coming in,
- 24:21he's already said it several different
- 24:23times, man.
- 24:23Look, if it's not serving us,
- 24:24it's not going to be around.
- 24:27period uh i just want to say i
- 24:32dig the riff alert it's been sitting it's
- 24:35been sitting in there for a while i
- 24:36just haven't i haven't hit the button in
- 24:38a while scott has to he had to
- 24:39knock the dust off of it to be
- 24:40able to hit it kind of like the
- 24:44lint off my pocket jerky so much pocket
- 24:50jerky
- 24:54Again, better than Pocket Sand.
- 24:56If you don't know what Pocket Sand is,
- 24:58I need you to watch King of the
- 24:58Hill.
- 25:01God, I love that show.
- 25:03I don't know if you can,
- 25:04can you see my Hank Hill Lego?
- 25:06Sure enough.
- 25:07Right there.
- 25:11Trey, you need a schmear alert.
- 25:15We also haven't, we haven't had,
- 25:17we haven't talked shit about fucking WFP
- 25:19in quite some time, dude.
- 25:20There's been no need to.
- 25:25That's an excellent question, Alito.
- 25:27I don't know.
- 25:29I'm sure there are measurables that they
- 25:31are looking at at CrossFit HQ,
- 25:33but they keep so much of their numbers
- 25:35and stuff tight to the vest that as
- 25:38an outsider,
- 25:39it's really hard to get any kind of
- 25:41judgment about anything.
- 25:42Yeah.
- 25:46I mean, she's got a great point.
- 25:47How would you measure it even if it's
- 25:49not pay-per-view?
- 25:50How are you going to measure that?
- 25:53Like,
- 25:53aside from legitimately putting up a
- 25:56survey during the weekend sometime.
- 25:59Dude,
- 26:00my first professional job was surveying.
- 26:04If you got fifteen percent of the surveys
- 26:06back, you were lucky.
- 26:07That's what I'm talking about.
- 26:08That's what I was getting at.
- 26:09And that's not going to do anybody any
- 26:10good.
- 26:11But like, aside from saying,
- 26:14if you're watching this and you don't
- 26:15actually do CrossFit,
- 26:16but you sign up later,
- 26:18please drop us a line.
- 26:21Let us know.
- 26:23Because there's no way if you do like
- 26:27a long term survey or not survey,
- 26:31but like a long term, I guess,
- 26:33process of looking at it and go, OK,
- 26:35the games happened, you know,
- 26:37the weekend of July twenty third,
- 26:40twenty fifth, whatever.
- 26:42and then go the next three months see
- 26:45if how many people signed up for boxes
- 26:48like signed up at their local box after
- 26:50that like oh we got ten new members
- 26:53this box got fifteen new members i guess
- 26:56you could charge chart it like that but
- 26:58that's that's not really and it's a lot
- 27:01of assumptions right that that that's you
- 27:04know it's the causation and correlation
- 27:07thing like
- 27:08Did they just happen to sign up then?
- 27:11We've been having a little bit of a
- 27:12boom at the gym.
- 27:14Got a whole bunch of new members that
- 27:15have signed up the past couple of months.
- 27:17I met a new guy this morning at
- 27:18five a.m.
- 27:19class.
- 27:19I didn't even know was signed up.
- 27:24But if that happens after the games and
- 27:25we get ten new members,
- 27:27just because you get on those streaks,
- 27:29you start getting more members,
- 27:30more members, more members, more members,
- 27:32and it kind of drops off for a
- 27:33little bit.
- 27:33That's natural ebb and flow.
- 27:36It's like saying, oh, yeah,
- 27:38we got a whole bunch of new members
- 27:39this year.
- 27:40Why?
- 27:41I don't know.
- 27:41We put on a nice Friday night light.
- 27:43We like to think it was that.
- 27:46And maybe it was but it's all an
- 27:48assumption.
- 27:49A very asked doesn't CrossFit get paid by
- 27:51YouTube for views?
- 27:53It's not that simple.
- 27:55It's not you really can't tell how the
- 27:58payments coming in.
- 28:00Because it's not really based on views.
- 28:02It's based on ad watch, ad watch time.
- 28:06Or if somebody paid a membership that's a
- 28:08viewer,
- 28:09and they don't give you that breakdown
- 28:11when they show you your stuff.
- 28:15So your thirty seven cents going about
- 28:17your day.
- 28:18Yeah.
- 28:19And you don't really know how that episode
- 28:22gained thirty seven cents, right?
- 28:26No,
- 28:26because it's a combination of like three
- 28:28different things and they don't.
- 28:31It's mostly in it.
- 28:33It is.
- 28:34Yeah, so even if, like,
- 28:37I don't know if you'll notice or not,
- 28:39but July starts at the first and runs
- 28:41all the way through the end of the
- 28:42month.
- 28:42So, like,
- 28:43they're going to have other stuff going
- 28:44on.
- 28:45It's a lot of assumptions, guesswork,
- 28:50kind of, maybe, sort of, I don't know,
- 28:52let's find out, type deal.
- 29:01I'm trying to, yeah, I'm trying to.
- 29:03Speaking of making of assumptions,
- 29:06don't make an assumption out of you and
- 29:07me when it comes to your sleep and
- 29:10recovery.
- 29:12Try Thirdsy today and you can do it
- 29:14for fifteen percent off.
- 29:17Code Jazzy at checkout or go to
- 29:19Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
- 29:24get fifteen percent off and you don't have
- 29:25to assume if you're going to get fifteen
- 29:27percent off you know you're going to get
- 29:29fifteen percent off hundred percent and
- 29:31the other thing you're going to know is
- 29:33deeper sleep more recovery and tested so
- 29:37you don't pop at competitions at least not
- 29:41for that yeah not valid in brazil it's
- 29:50actually as valid to brazil and just
- 29:52anyway
- 29:54I think I need to take some of
- 29:55that thirty seven cents I make off of
- 29:57this episode and get Vicki some typing
- 29:59lessons.
- 30:00I mean.
- 30:03Not my best work.
- 30:03I think you did good.
- 30:06If it takes you four comments to get
- 30:08get all the words right.
- 30:09Speaking of.
- 30:10Yeah,
- 30:11I just like how she made it rhyme.
- 30:13Like, where is it?
- 30:16It just went away for me.
- 30:19Don't make an assumption out of you and
- 30:21me when it comes to your sleep and
- 30:22recovery.
- 30:25job there you go uh scott does your
- 30:31wife use thirdsy too no because i asked
- 30:33her to no that's fair dude i'm just
- 30:39telling you that's fair that's the hats if
- 30:42i would have just left it on the
- 30:43counter and let it be she probably would
- 30:44be using it every night yep but because
- 30:47i asked her to you know how you
- 30:51know how i know my wife thinks greased
- 30:52in
- 30:54Not every day,
- 30:54but probably four days a week because I
- 30:57make her coffee in the morning.
- 31:00You just slip it in?
- 31:01I put her a scoop.
- 31:03She goes on about her business.
- 31:05You're creatine roofing your wife?
- 31:07Oh, no.
- 31:08She's not roofing.
- 31:09She knows it's in there.
- 31:11But she just won't do it on her
- 31:13own.
- 31:14And look,
- 31:14she literally just has to open the cabinet
- 31:16and pull it out.
- 31:18and put it in herself because she, she,
- 31:22she's a fan of it.
- 31:22Like she understands what it does.
- 31:24She gets it.
- 31:25Like, it's okay.
- 31:26But the only way she gets it is
- 31:29if I give it to her.
- 31:29Yeah.
- 31:34Creatine roofie.
- 31:37There are worse roofies.
- 31:39Uh, that's how your,
- 31:40that's how his kids came out.
- 31:43There are worse roofies or so I've been
- 31:45told.
- 31:45Um,
- 31:50the other things i have are going to
- 31:51take too long and i've got this one
- 31:53o'clock meeting so yep uh i'm super
- 31:56excited about what's to come at the games
- 31:59uh i signed my media credential
- 32:03acknowledgement blah blah blah last night
- 32:06looking at final flights looking at camera
- 32:09lenses to rent so i can get some
- 32:11better content you can rent camera lenses
- 32:14You can.
- 32:15Wow.
- 32:16Some some camera lenses are like twenty
- 32:18thousand dollars.
- 32:19Oh, I believe it.
- 32:20And so a lot of even big time
- 32:23photographers just rent them for the job
- 32:27they're doing.
- 32:28It's got to be a pretty lucrative
- 32:29business, I would imagine.
- 32:31Yeah, I I Google.
- 32:33Well, one, I checked with my consultant,
- 32:35my daughter, the photographer,
- 32:37and and the amount of people in Columbus
- 32:40that rent out the the lenses is insane.
- 32:53Dave's chats with Ella Wilkinson,
- 32:55Lydia Fish,
- 32:55and Gabby Magala were real good.
- 32:57I saw two of the three so far.
- 33:01I've not seen Lydia's yet.
- 33:07The note I took down is,
- 33:09is Dave truly interviewing or is he doing
- 33:13research?
- 33:15I would say research.
- 33:17I would legitimately say research.
- 33:19Because I've listened to a lot of them
- 33:21in the last three days.
- 33:23And I swear, I swear he's like,
- 33:27what are you good at?
- 33:28Yeah.
- 33:29What do you struggle with?
- 33:30So what have you not been working on?
- 33:34It's what it feels like.
- 33:35And it looks like at times he's taking
- 33:37notes.
- 33:39Yeah.
- 33:40He's like,
- 33:41so you haven't really been riding a bike,
- 33:42huh?
- 33:44That's interesting.
- 33:47Yeah, on a bike ride.
- 33:53Oh, I didn't watch that.
- 33:54I did watch his the behind the scenes
- 33:58making
- 34:02crafting the games, whatever it's called,
- 34:05yesterday with part two or part three or
- 34:07whatever it was,
- 34:09when he apparently had an animal just
- 34:14soaking and some dog pulled out and
- 34:16whatnot.
- 34:16But the stuff they were talking about,
- 34:19whoever edited that did a real good job
- 34:21because they'll let you get right up to
- 34:24it, whatever they're talking about,
- 34:25and then cut it.
- 34:28Yep.
- 34:30And I kind of feel bad for Rafa
- 34:33because he basically,
- 34:37apparently one of the events is going to
- 34:38be to clean up the grounds at the
- 34:43ranch.
- 34:44Yeah.
- 34:46Hey, Rafa,
- 34:46can you lug that tree out of the
- 34:48way?
- 34:49Bro,
- 34:51Dave needs to learn how that pole saw
- 34:53actually works because he almost got taken
- 34:55out by that limb.
- 34:56That did not look good.
- 34:59So Ed says,
- 35:00but if he already has the workouts laid
- 35:01out,
- 35:02it doesn't matter what the athletes say.
- 35:04Here's what I'm going to tell you, Ed.
- 35:06Again,
- 35:07I volunteered at the games in twenty
- 35:09seventeen, worked North Park.
- 35:13Stuff changed.
- 35:14Strongman's fear changed three times from
- 35:17the time we got there and started working
- 35:20on everything as a volunteer to when the
- 35:23event actually went off.
- 35:27So, yeah,
- 35:27the basic concept of it was there.
- 35:34Literally, they put it out there.
- 35:36He changed the strap on the sled pool.
- 35:41Forty seconds before the first heat went.
- 35:49It's the old.
- 35:50We're going to put the track down as
- 35:54the train's coming.
- 35:56Well,
- 35:57and I think the track is like all
- 35:59the parts are there and they're kind of
- 36:02in position,
- 36:03but you may move them like a couple
- 36:05inches to the right or the left,
- 36:07or maybe you put a couple extra support
- 36:09pieces
- 36:10rails in between or you just you get
- 36:13everything out there and actually on the
- 36:15floor and you look around you go something
- 36:20just doesn't feel right or whatnot and you
- 36:21kind of work on it and you go
- 36:22oh okay yeah let's do this right now
- 36:25um dave they're about to take the floor
- 36:27they can wait for ten seconds it'll be
- 36:28all right
- 36:30Well,
- 36:30he is not big on saying they can
- 36:32wait ten seconds because he wants to stay
- 36:33on time.
- 36:34Yeah.
- 36:35But he's like,
- 36:35you got forty five seconds to wrap this
- 36:38black duct tape around all ten straps
- 36:41before they go.
- 36:42So go.
- 36:43You might want to hurry.
- 36:44Yeah.
- 36:46Now,
- 36:46and he'll be out there with you wrapping
- 36:48duct tape because he wants to get it
- 36:50done.
- 36:53But yeah,
- 36:54it gets tweaked right up until three, two,
- 36:57one, as Andrew Sten said.
- 36:59Yeah.
- 37:03And even then they might change for the
- 37:05next stage group.
- 37:06Is that true?
- 37:09That's how I cook dinner too, Vicki.
- 37:11Oh, by the way,
- 37:12I need to shout out Dan church as
- 37:13another one of mine.
- 37:15Very good.
- 37:16Uh,
- 37:18friends slash my unofficial official
- 37:21weightlifting coach and whatnot that i met
- 37:23here because he fussed at me this morning
- 37:28he says probably recency bias because i
- 37:29haven't been in a chat but you know
- 37:31me dang damn it and i was like
- 37:33i do know you my bad dude i
- 37:34love you dan uh trink as we spoke
- 37:39yesterday the red barn is in aromas that's
- 37:42been announced the sap center is in san
- 37:45jose
- 37:47So we already know those two locations.
- 37:49But again,
- 37:50the ranch is the worst kept secret of
- 37:53this year's games.
- 37:55But the Red Barn is in Aromas.
- 37:58The Red Barn is not just in Aromas.
- 38:00It basically backs up to the ranch.
- 38:02Yep.
- 38:07Do they announce master workouts early?
- 38:09Probably.
- 38:10I don't know.
- 38:10Yes.
- 38:11Yes.
- 38:13Maybe not all of them, but yeah,
- 38:15they will definitely announce them.
- 38:16Bob and Joe are pretty good for that.
- 38:19And it's usually like a couple of days
- 38:21before the event, if they do it,
- 38:24like they did legends.
- 38:25And I think they did the same thing
- 38:26last year for, uh, for the games,
- 38:27the last two years for the games.
- 38:30I wish they would put out a schedule
- 38:31of times for planning.
- 38:32There's a lot going on from Wednesday to
- 38:33Friday that will require some pre-planning
- 38:35to see what you want.
- 38:37Well, one,
- 38:39you're probably not going to get to see
- 38:41the Wednesday.
- 38:43Unless you pay for the VIP pass.
- 38:48And Thursday, I'm guessing,
- 38:49is going to be an off day.
- 38:54It seems like it's going to be the
- 38:55way that everything's laying out.
- 39:00Amanda,
- 39:02I'm just going to leave this here because
- 39:03I don't want to be the one that
- 39:04says it again.
- 39:05I'll say it.
- 39:08She's not wrong.
- 39:10Bob and Joe are awful with announcements.
- 39:12She is not wrong.
- 39:15They'll put stuff out and then change it
- 39:17at the,
- 39:19and two hours later and make
- 39:21clarification.
- 39:21Like I that's,
- 39:23that's been par for the course,
- 39:24but she's not wrong.
- 39:26I did not pay for the VIP pass.
- 39:29I have media credentials.
- 39:30I don't even know what that gets me.
- 39:33Um, I have a pit pass.
- 39:35I have the regular media credential.
- 39:39I don't, I don't know.
- 39:42So Ortega's saying,
- 39:44Dave said Thursday is a rest day.
- 39:45So if Thursday is a rest day,
- 39:47Wednesday is going to be something to
- 39:49witness.
- 39:51I've never heard him commit to Thursday as
- 39:53a rest day.
- 39:54He was asked that in a couple of
- 39:55the interviews and never fully committed
- 39:58to yes, it is.
- 40:03And I got to get out of here,
- 40:05so we'll leave it with give Micah the
- 40:07Masters next year.
- 40:09That doesn't need any context with that.
- 40:11Not at all.
- 40:12You know what?
- 40:13You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
- 40:15room to jazz me up.
- 40:17I'm already jazzy.
- 40:37From the gym to the screen, yeah,
- 40:39we cover it all.
- 40:41Midday motivation every time we press
- 40:44call.
- 40:46Lunch with the Clydesdale Cowboy,
- 40:47bring the heat.
