- 0:04Hi, I'm Jeff Allen and thank you for listening to the slippery
- 0:07slide. So here in Australia, it seems
- 0:11more and more. That being a Christian is looked
- 0:15upon as being a bad thing. Christians are mocked ridiculed,
- 0:21more and more. Our politicians don't mind, do
- 0:25not mind picking at Christians picking up Christian faith at
- 0:29all. All they mock Christians
- 0:31ridicule, Christians. God.
- 0:34It seems to be open season on the god of the Bible apparently,
- 0:38and they will, they will respect.
- 0:40They will show you that will show respect and honor when it
- 0:45comes to any other religion, except for Christianity.
- 0:49Except for, when it comes to believing in the god of the
- 0:53Bible, this headline came through just yesterday.
- 0:55It says prayer is absurd in politics according to Greens.
- 1:00Impy. So the New South Wales greens
- 1:02have renewed. A push to abolish.
- 1:04Christian praise. In state, Parliament saying the
- 1:07tradition is absurd and alienated to the general
- 1:11community. So prayers along with an
- 1:13acknowledgement of country are read at the opening of every New
- 1:17South Wales Parliament, sitting day, a tradition, dating back to
- 1:211934. That's also followed and
- 1:24followed in other state and territory parliament's as well
- 1:28as the federal Parliament. It's a greens MP, Abigail Boyd.
- 1:33She says I think is it is absurd.
- 1:36She told AAP of the tradition. She goes on to say, when I
- 1:41worked at Kmart because, you know, all their great MPS, these
- 1:45days came from Kmart, we did not have to stand and listen to the
- 1:49Lord's prayer before we opened all the registers up.
- 1:52She said, okay, that's good to know.
- 1:56She goes on to say, I think most people in the real world think
- 2:01that it is quite extraordinary anyway.
- 2:05So momentum to remove the Christian tradition from public
- 2:09institutions is growing across the country.
- 2:12This is according to rationalist Society of Australia.
- 2:15President Meredith I'll pronounce the last name.
- 2:19Doig DIY G. So she says people are wanting
- 2:24change and that includes change to the tradition of privileging
- 2:29one. Jin over another dr.
- 2:32Dewey told AAP so New South Wales councils including
- 2:38shoalhaven and Wagga Wagga had already opted to switch to a
- 2:42moment of quiet reflection. She said.
- 2:45So in Victoria the Mildura rural Council had received a motion
- 2:49from Council at Jo Dee Reynolds to replace prayer with an
- 2:53affirmation the ladies on the warpath.
- 2:56So going on, it says that recent statistics show showed less than
- 3:00half, the population was religious Jo Dee Reynolds told
- 3:05AAP. She goes on to say that a prayer
- 3:08is something that is said in your home, or in your church,
- 3:11the council chamber is a workplace is Reynolds said the
- 3:15tradition also stifled diversity on the council.
- 3:19She said, The more diversity that you can get in any
- 3:22governing body. The more that chamber can
- 3:24represent your community, the better decisions you make.
- 3:29This is misery His argument, the rationalist society will host a
- 3:33webinar about the push to remove prayer from public institutions
- 3:37on Wednesday night? So mrs.
- 3:39Boyd, previously launched an unsuccessful motion to have the
- 3:44prayers removed in 2019 opposed by both labor and the government
- 3:49isn't it? Good to know that with all the
- 3:51troubles in the world? All the troubles that we're
- 3:53having in Australia and down in New South Wales.
- 3:56With these people are from that. These politicians Oceans can
- 4:00focus on removing prayer. That is their top priority.
- 4:04Forget about the floods. Forget about all the homeless
- 4:07people we've got. Now, because of flood forget
- 4:09about the financial crisis. And, you know, who cares?
- 4:13When it comes to inflation, we got to remove prayer.
- 4:17Gotcha removed prayer. That's that's where they stand.
- 4:22Anyway, goes on to say, any motion to remove the prayer from
- 4:25Australian parliament's would not be supported by liberal.
- 4:28MP, tenure Davies. It is as a reminder to all MPS
- 4:32to serve with humility conviction, compassion, Justice,
- 4:37and Equity. This is what liberal MP.
- 4:39Tenure Davies told AAP So I was spokesman from New South Wales.
- 4:45Labor said they did not support the motion and motions to alter
- 4:49the tradition was stridently opposed by outgoing.
- 4:53Labour MP, Waltz Eckerd whose office was inundated with calls
- 4:57against the idea when it was first.
- 5:00Floated surprisingly adherence to non-Christian faiths,
- 5:04including Hindus and Muslims saw it as an attack, on all people
- 5:10of faith, not just the Pray, he said in 2019 so there you have
- 5:18it for some reason, they want to get rid of the Lord's Prayer,
- 5:22being spoken being said, in Parliament, with all the other
- 5:26issues going on around the world and in Australia, it's the
- 5:29Lord's Prayer. Isn't it amazing?
- 5:31It just amazes me that that is their focus.
- 5:35Just remind you of what it says in.
- 5:36Romans chapter 1, I'll read a little bit from Verse 18.
- 5:40It says, for the wrath of God is revealed.
- 5:43From Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness
- 5:47of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what
- 5:53may be known of God is Manifest in them for God has shown it to
- 5:58them further down and 21 that goes on to say.
- 6:00Because although they knew God they did not glorify him as God
- 6:04nor we're thankful, but became futile in their thoughts and
- 6:09their foolish Hearts were darkened professing to be wise.
- 6:13Wise, they became fools. You know what, I think.
- 6:17That's what's that mean with these ladies here, they profess
- 6:20to be wise, but they are fools. We have some fools in our
- 6:25Parliament at the moment. We have these two ladies who are
- 6:27in our parliament's. We have that Lydia Thorpe.
- 6:30She she's been having an affair with a bikie while she's been
- 6:34sitting on a law enforcement Council.
- 6:37I mean, how ridiculous is that former head performer?
- 6:41Former president of a biker gang the hypocrisy?
- 6:47The hypocrisy and the foolishness coming from our
- 6:50politicians at the moment is ridiculous.
- 6:53This is why I keep saying we need to hold our politicians
- 6:56accountable. And if they do not want to say
- 6:58the Lord's Prayer, well, then they need to go.
- 7:01They need to be voted out. That's just my opinion.
- 7:04I think it's despicable, I think they're ridiculous.
- 7:07I think they're foolish. Like I said, that's just my
- 7:10opinion. Thank you for listening to the
- 7:12slippery slope.
