- 0:01When an individual sits for meditation, does he come out of
- 0:05the meditation changed in some way?
- 0:09Or as meditation, something like a state of stasis where time
- 0:13goes by but nothing happens. Is the individual taking a
- 0:19timeout from life, but not moving the purpose and focus of
- 0:24the life forward. These questions arise when we
- 0:28examine the statements of those who attempt meditation and who
- 0:33report they simply saw rounds of thoughts and sense, Impressions
- 0:37impinging on them and that they wound up following these until
- 0:41they noticed it and then tried to draw back until the next
- 0:45ones, captured them or else that they found they were simply
- 0:50nodding off. Many people who take up
- 0:54meditation report, they may feel more relaxed or peaceful at the
- 0:58end, but realistically, their actions afterwards have not
- 1:03changed in any meaningful way. As with anything, an individual
- 1:10does in his life, there is a reason or motive behind it.
- 1:15If one begins meditation without a clear sense of purpose without
- 1:20an aspiration directed. That purpose, then it tends to
- 1:25Simply Be static and does not Aid much.
- 1:28If at all in the actualization of The Seekers ultimate purpose
- 1:33in the life. This leads to the question of
- 1:36whether meditation can be dynamic and focused without
- 1:41simply becoming another vehicle of expressing some form of vital
- 1:45ambition. Ultimately everyone acts in the
- 1:49world. The action can be motivated by
- 1:52ego and vital ambition, but it can also be directed toward a
- 1:57higher aspiration and the transformation of human life.
- 2:03It can be an attempt to deny life or an attempt to affirm
- 2:07life. Everything depends on the
- 2:10direction and sincerity of The Seekers motivation in the
- 2:15action, a disciple asks, what does SRI aurobindo mean by a
- 2:21self Dinah mising meditation? The mother responds quote.
- 2:28It is a meditation that has the power of transforming your
- 2:31being. It is a meditation which makes
- 2:34you progress as opposed to static meditation, which is
- 2:38immobile and relatively inert, and which changes nothing in
- 2:43your Consciousness or in your way of being a dynamic
- 2:48meditation, is a meditation of transformation.
- 2:53Generally people don't have a dynamic meditation when they
- 2:57enter into meditation, or at least what they call meditation.
- 3:02They enter into a kind of immobility where nothing stirs
- 3:06and they come out of it. Exactly.
- 3:08As they went in without any change, either in their being or
- 3:13in their Consciousness and the more motionless, it is, the
- 3:17happier they are. They could meditate in this way
- 3:21for eternity'. It would never change anything
- 3:25either in the universe or in themselves.
- 3:29That is why SRI aurobindo speaks of a dynamic meditation, which
- 3:33is exactly the very opposite. It is a transforming meditation
- 3:39in quote reference SRI aurobindo in the mother growing within the
