- 3:53Speaker 2: But yes, we had to introduce Mars. But we are
- 3:56Speaker 2: so glad to have you Zeke. This I feel like
- 3:59Speaker 2: this conversation and has been a long time coming, and
- 4:02Speaker 2: I'm just happy that we get to talk about your family, identity, legacy, pressure,
- 4:08Speaker 2: purpose and just the hustle of carving your own lane.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Absolutely yeah. And you know, as we were gossiping prior
- 4:19Speaker 4: to this, you know, it's it's amazing the way legacy
- 4:23Speaker 4: and lineage, it all, it all comes in. You know,
- 4:27Speaker 4: I was saying, you know, my dad's legacy, A big
- 4:31Speaker 4: part of it started because your dad helped recruit him
- 4:34Speaker 4: to Indiana University. Wow, and you know that's where he
- 4:38Speaker 4: met my mom. And you know that DNA produced this great.
- 4:43Speaker 2: DA and the gene.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yes, well we're we're going to get started. That's so
- 4:52Speaker 2: you're ready to all right, So we're going to ask
- 4:55Speaker 2: you describe being born to the game in three words.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Take a time.
- 5:03Speaker 5: I love the breath, anticipation like right, yeah, resilient.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Duty, yeah, and luck.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Wow. Those are good. Yeah, those are great. Those are great.
- 5:27Speaker 2: So let's dive into duty. Yes, why why duty? We're
- 5:32Speaker 2: thinking we're twins, but yes, why duty?
- 5:35Speaker 4: You know, as classified Black Americans in America in society,
- 5:45Speaker 4: and as we're going through this new time of you know,
- 5:52Speaker 4: the the weaponization of the American government for the first
- 5:58Speaker 4: time isn't solely focused on Black America. Tino America are
- 6:05Speaker 4: getting a lot of heat right now. But that doesn't
- 6:09Speaker 4: mean that I'm not a part of the second generation
- 6:13Speaker 4: out of Jim Crow. My dad was part of the
- 6:16Speaker 4: first generation. So when I say duty, it's we have
- 6:22Speaker 4: to carry this legacy that our parents built, that they
- 6:28Speaker 4: built off the backs of people who had suffered prior
- 6:31Speaker 4: to them, immensely from slavery on down, and to get
- 6:39Speaker 4: to the top, to be hall of fame, to be
- 6:45Speaker 4: not just a Hall of Famer, but also a Hall
- 6:47Speaker 4: of Fame dad, a Hall of Fame person. My parents
- 6:51Speaker 4: still together to this day, rocking out about to celebrate
- 6:54Speaker 4: I believe their fortieth.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Them all blast.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But it's like, that's beautiful when you truly have a
- 7:03Speaker 4: model of a healthy black family, the duty.
- 7:09Speaker 3: To continue that.
- 7:12Speaker 4: And you know, I'm a gay black man, so I
- 7:16Speaker 4: feel I have a different amount of pressure on my
- 7:20Speaker 4: shoulders that I've been given from the ancestors to Hey,
- 7:25Speaker 4: this is what you gotta do. This is the people
- 7:28Speaker 4: who you have to lead. And if you want to
- 7:31Speaker 4: fall into this duty, wow, be responsible and respectful of it.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Wow. Well wow, I that's incredible.
- 7:42Speaker 5: I I wanna we're gonna go to our next segment
- 7:46Speaker 5: because you just kind of dropped a bomb. Duty is
- 7:48Speaker 5: a big word, and we're gonna we're gonna kind of
- 7:52Speaker 5: come back to it later in the interview, but but.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Before, can we talk about luck. That's what I was
- 7:56Speaker 2: gonna do. A lot uses that word a lot, just
- 8:00Speaker 2: in sports, right, just even to be successful and to
- 8:04Speaker 2: get to the place that they are currently, you do
- 8:07Speaker 2: have to have a little bit of luck.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Right, I mean also the statistics of getting in the league. Yeah,
- 8:12Speaker 5: and I don't have the stat with us, but it's so.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Small, it's so small.
- 8:17Speaker 3: There's only I think.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Less than twelve thousand people have ever gotten to play
- 8:24Speaker 4: in the NBA.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I think that number is actually like five thousand, wild
- 8:29Speaker 2: less than six thousand.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Mean it's like six thousand.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Faith.
- 8:38Speaker 2: We didn't say that, we were just saying bat check me.
- 8:42Speaker 2: But I think it's about six thousand.
- 8:43Speaker 5: But then on top of that, you the Hall of
- 8:46Speaker 5: Fame Park, like that's even that it's probably even Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I mean the work that it takes to to get there,
- 8:55Speaker 4: for him to do it, and then to sustain it after,
- 9:03Speaker 4: you know. So I I was born in eighty eight.
- 9:08Speaker 4: My dad went back to back championships, but then retired
- 9:11Speaker 4: in I think ninety three ninety four, So the majority
- 9:15Speaker 4: of my memories are really of my dad being an
- 9:20Speaker 4: owner of the Toronto Raptors, a team president, and a
- 9:24Speaker 4: head coach with the Knicks and the Pacers. So I
- 9:28Speaker 4: got to see the game on a different side. And
- 9:32Speaker 4: I was lucky to get that opportunity, and I was
- 9:39Speaker 4: lucky to be able to have the to share, you know,
- 9:43Speaker 4: the cool stories of the first time I got to
- 9:46Speaker 4: New York. I was welcome there, did the whole press conference,
- 9:51Speaker 4: and I'm there with my dad and who takes us out,
- 9:55Speaker 4: Spike Lee?
- 10:00Speaker 3: Where do we go the club? Talking?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Man?
- 10:07Speaker 3: That's lucky. You know.
- 10:11Speaker 4: I didn't realize how lucky it would be for me
- 10:16Speaker 4: personally to move from Indiana to New York.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Those are two very different place any different.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And we're going to ask you about it. We're going
- 10:27Speaker 2: to go back there. Let's we'll talk about but.
- 10:29Speaker 5: You segued us into our next portion of the interview
- 10:32Speaker 5: is about yours, about the early life and the dailies
- 10:38Speaker 5: about when you were a kid and what that looked
- 10:40Speaker 5: like and traveling did you guys, did you travel with
- 10:43Speaker 5: your dad?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Did you stay in one place? What was that like?
- 10:48Speaker 4: I was always at my dad's hip like, and my
- 10:51Speaker 4: dad always brought me with him and I thank him
- 10:56Speaker 4: for that. And my dad's definitely a family person and
- 11:00Speaker 4: we're a tight family. We like to hang together, watch
- 11:03Speaker 4: TV together, talk about everything together. Nothing is off limits.
- 11:10Speaker 4: We moved from Detroit to Indiana to New York.
- 11:13Speaker 2: And at what age moved.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Let's see when I was in sixth grade.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Move when I was in tenth grade.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Yeah, those are hard grades because that's the middle school
- 11:29Speaker 5: and then it's like high school.
- 11:31Speaker 2: So like those are two really and.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Then we had some false starts, okay, yeah, like being
- 11:37Speaker 3: in the NBA, you know, you might get traded.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Or whatever, and we had some some false starts. Almost
- 11:45Speaker 4: ended up in Atlanta that didn't happen. But I remember,
- 11:48Speaker 4: like we had a house and like you know how
- 11:50Speaker 4: like you get like the picture pairing yourself to move,
- 11:56Speaker 4: but that didn't happen.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Happen.
- 11:57Speaker 4: We almost moved to Toronto again and had a house
- 12:01Speaker 4: and stuff the picture even like a shadowed at a
- 12:04Speaker 4: school that didn't happen. So the the moving around that
- 12:13Speaker 4: was not good for me.
- 12:14Speaker 2: So explain more like talk about's heart to find how
- 12:18Speaker 2: was that?
- 12:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm an outgoing person.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I'm a really at all.
- 12:28Speaker 4: So I've always found it pretty easy for me to
- 12:32Speaker 4: meet people, engage with people. And that's a definitely a
- 12:37Speaker 4: skill that I think I had to develop just from
- 12:41Speaker 4: moving and also.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Being the child of a celebrity. I really I didn't
- 12:55Speaker 3: like as a kid. The thing that I didn't like them,
- 13:02Speaker 3: And I'm still asked this question, which is weird. It's
- 13:05Speaker 3: really weird, really weird.
- 13:09Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Are you as great a basketball player as your dad? Yeah?
- 13:16Speaker 2: Talk about it?
- 13:17Speaker 3: Did such a weird question?
- 13:19Speaker 2: Did he make you play? Was that something he pressured
- 13:21Speaker 2: you into doing?
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yeah? Pressure me to play? But I love to play
- 13:25Speaker 3: and I played.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Were you good at it?
- 13:28Speaker 3: I was a great defensive, a great defense.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Did you and Pops ever play one on one? And
- 13:37Speaker 2: I mean you're the defense ones game?
- 13:40Speaker 4: Played one on one a lot? Okay, he played twenty one.
- 13:43Speaker 4: We played one on one and he definitely helped me
- 13:48Speaker 4: improve my game. Now I do remember Indiana, and this
- 13:53Speaker 4: is definitely fact checked.
- 13:56Speaker 3: We were playing on the Pacers practice corps. At that time.
- 14:01Speaker 3: It was called Conseco field House. Now I think it's
- 14:04Speaker 3: game Bridge field House and you know I won.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Wait can we call it? Is there a way for
- 14:16Speaker 5: us to back check this? I mean, if you want,
- 14:23Speaker 5: you can call him. In my words, Dad, I know
- 14:25Speaker 5: he's gonna call. But you know what, I believe you, Zeke,
- 14:27Speaker 5: I believe you.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Look, I'm just letting you know. I dunked and he said,
- 14:32Speaker 4: we can't play. We can't play anymore. We didn't have
- 14:36Speaker 4: phones back then.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Dang.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I was like, I'm old, okay, eighties baby lay baby Okay.
- 14:47Speaker 2: So I I want to get into friends, trust and
- 14:50Speaker 2: isolation a little bit. Did being born to the game
- 14:54Speaker 2: affect your social life? I know we we kind of
- 14:57Speaker 2: tapped into it, but I want the viewers to kind
- 14:59Speaker 2: of get to know, like how that dynamic was with
- 15:02Speaker 2: you and friends. Was it hard to find friendships? Was
- 15:05Speaker 2: it hard for you to trust people? Because I know
- 15:07Speaker 2: for me growing up into it, I had some challenges
- 15:10Speaker 2: with that as well. And then moving it's sixth grade
- 15:12Speaker 2: moving and then great is hard. That is hard anything really,
- 15:18Speaker 2: So as.
- 15:19Speaker 4: I go back, we moved sixth grade, going into seventh grade,
- 15:27Speaker 4: just moving to Indiana, Froyd, Michigan.
- 15:32Speaker 3: And new kid here. And one of.
- 15:37Speaker 4: The first experiences that I experienced with my new classmates
- 15:43Speaker 4: is nine to eleven Wow, and oh my god, So
- 15:48Speaker 4: here I am in a foreign place, foreign people, you know,
- 15:54Speaker 4: trying to figure it out. And one of the most
- 15:58Speaker 4: defining moments in my life happens.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Were you in class?
- 16:03Speaker 3: No, we were late to school.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Wow, we were late.
- 16:07Speaker 4: To school listening to the russpar Morning Show, and you know,
- 16:14Speaker 4: Indiana was on Central time, and so it was like
- 16:19Speaker 4: eight eight whatever, So we're pulling up late, and you know,
- 16:24Speaker 4: unfortunately we heard the announcement that, you know, a plane
- 16:27Speaker 4: and hit the tower.
- 16:28Speaker 3: And I actually went.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Inside and told my principal, and my principal told me.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I was lying no.
- 16:40Speaker 4: So then like I'm like, no, go on the computer,
- 16:43Speaker 4: so like compewter load up, and sure enough the second
- 16:46Speaker 4: plane had come in and.
- 16:50Speaker 3: It really.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Kind of resonated and just was grounding because it was
- 16:55Speaker 4: you know, I went to a private school, and there
- 16:58Speaker 4: were few kids whose parents had worked at or near
- 17:05Speaker 4: or around the trade center, and there were those kids
- 17:08Speaker 4: there who were freaking out, nervous, not sure what's going on.
- 17:17Speaker 4: I wasn't terrified that something was about to happen in
- 17:21Speaker 4: Indiana as much as.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I didn't have my people, So you felt isolated.
- 17:32Speaker 4: I felt well, I didn't know if I felt isolated.
- 17:36Speaker 4: I just you know, you you want to check on
- 17:39Speaker 4: your quote loved ones, and you're thinking about your support
- 17:42Speaker 4: system back home in Detroit.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Now.
- 17:49Speaker 4: I did make great friends in Indiana, and I love
- 17:53Speaker 4: them to this day and still probably are some of
- 17:55Speaker 4: my closest relationships. So that's ages thirty team to sixteen.
- 18:03Speaker 4: And then we moved again to New York and that
- 18:08Speaker 4: was heartbreaking because I had definitely, truly made some of
- 18:13Speaker 4: the best relationships that I have in my life. I mean,
- 18:19Speaker 4: I went to the Backstreet Boy concert, so he.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Was seventh grade shouting Greg Odin. But like, had I not.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Moved met these people, played basketball, got engaged, like made
- 18:39Speaker 4: an effort, my experience could have been a lot different.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Do you feel like because of who your dad is,
- 18:46Speaker 2: people wanted to be friends with you or did that
- 18:49Speaker 2: affect the dynamic with people?
- 18:51Speaker 4: Because I always affected the dynamic with people. I mean,
- 18:55Speaker 4: I have a bullshit monitor from H two.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Okay ale to it was more to the game, Yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I mean you are to sniff it out now I
- 19:07Speaker 2: love that. Yeah, No, for sure. And you moved from
- 19:10Speaker 2: what after sixteen? So that's what high school? Yeah, and
- 19:13Speaker 2: then you get to New York and you said that
- 19:15Speaker 2: was heartbreaking.
- 19:16Speaker 4: New York was heartbreaking because I lost so many close friends.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Now I made close friends in.
- 19:22Speaker 4: New York, but it more so was after the fact,
- 19:25Speaker 4: and a lot of my close friends with New York.
- 19:27Speaker 4: In New York were older than me. When I moved
- 19:31Speaker 4: to New York, I started working for Hot ninety seven. Oh,
- 19:34Speaker 4: and I started, you know, DJ Zeke.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Started, We're going to get into it.
- 19:40Speaker 4: So I was I was definitely adulting earlier than expected.
- 19:47Speaker 4: In New York or Indiana, I could be a kid. Yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 4: I felt that I took on my Zeke persona in
- 19:58Speaker 4: New York, Okay, to kind of hide some of Joshua's
- 20:02Speaker 4: pain from moving twice. You know, you you left your
- 20:07Speaker 4: tight New York, or you left your tight Detroit, and
- 20:09Speaker 4: then you left your tightness in Indiana. You know, I
- 20:15Speaker 4: got great friends, and actually those great friends who I
- 20:19Speaker 4: have from Michigan and Indiana, some of them, you know,
- 20:23Speaker 4: work in the NBA now.
- 20:24Speaker 2: So it's all you guys.
- 20:29Speaker 5: So at the time, I'm going back to the word duty.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Did you realize in sixth grade then, because you said
- 20:35Speaker 5: you could smell bullshit it too? Yeah, did you understand
- 20:38Speaker 5: the duty then? When was the first time that you
- 20:40Speaker 5: realized of the duty of being a part of this
- 20:43Speaker 5: phenomenal family?
- 20:45Speaker 4: I can remember, hell. I remember I was like probably
- 20:51Speaker 4: under the age of five, and we're at home in
- 20:57Speaker 4: our family room, you know, two couches. Is you got
- 21:00Speaker 4: the big TV. But the TV back then y'all had
- 21:03Speaker 4: like the big.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Literally.
- 21:13Speaker 4: But so I'm there and my dad's being interviewed on
- 21:19Speaker 4: you know, the local news, and I'm in his arms
- 21:23Speaker 4: on the press conference, and my mom says to me,
- 21:28Speaker 4: you got it chill like during this time, like like
- 21:31Speaker 4: look at.
- 21:32Speaker 3: You like she she pointed it out to.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Me, and and I've that meant that has always kind
- 21:37Speaker 4: of stuck with me that hey, yeah, that that moment
- 21:43Speaker 4: was captured on camera and your dad was performing and
- 21:50Speaker 4: you messed up the performance. Okay, So from then on
- 21:57Speaker 4: it was like, Okay, yeah, you may like the limelight
- 22:01Speaker 4: and you may want to you know, get some attention
- 22:05Speaker 4: or get whatever, but.
- 22:08Speaker 3: There's a way to do this that does not affect
- 22:12Speaker 3: the brand.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Got was that your first time you realized your dad
- 22:16Speaker 2: is Isaiah Thomas?
- 22:18Speaker 3: Like?
- 22:18Speaker 2: When was that moment for you? Because I'm gonna tell
- 22:22Speaker 2: you'all mine in a second.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Uh.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I don't know if the aha moment really came into
- 22:34Speaker 4: New York.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Like I knew my dad was the man, Don't get
- 22:40Speaker 3: me wrong.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I knew he was walking around and you know, people.
- 22:44Speaker 3: When we got to New York. Huh, and he was
- 22:47Speaker 3: on the cover of the newspaper. Okay, every single day,
- 22:51Speaker 3: New York, that kind of place.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Though you're like, wait a minute, he kind of liked, Okay,
- 22:57Speaker 2: how wild is that?
- 22:58Speaker 5: At that young he's talking about understanding the brand and
- 23:02Speaker 5: understanding that behaviors and brands.
- 23:04Speaker 2: It's wild. No, that's wild. That's wild. I before we break,
- 23:08Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you guys, when I realized, y'all, I
- 23:12Speaker 2: thought my dad was a referee.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I'm obsessed.
- 23:18Speaker 2: So I remember my mom was like, because we didn't
- 23:20Speaker 2: travel with dad. We didn't travel with him until we
- 23:23Speaker 2: were older. But Mom was like, I think dad was
- 23:25Speaker 2: coaching in Cleveland at the time, because we weren't born
- 23:28Speaker 2: until dad retired, and she never saw him play. I
- 23:31Speaker 2: never seen him play, but they were born yet, so yeah,
- 23:35Speaker 2: but mom, we were living in Houston at the time,
- 23:37Speaker 2: and Mom was like, all right, we're going to go
- 23:38Speaker 2: see your dad in Cleveland.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Y'all.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I thought he was a referee. So we get there
- 23:42Speaker 2: and I'm looking for him, and I'm like, I'm looking
- 23:45Speaker 2: for the black and white referee. I thought that's what
- 23:48Speaker 2: a coach was. I was looking and I'm like, Mom,
- 23:51Speaker 2: I don't see him, and I'm looking at the black
- 23:54Speaker 2: and white man just like running up.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 23:56Speaker 2: She was like, he's right there. And I was like, oh,
- 23:58Speaker 2: that's what you do. I thought, look, my bad. I
- 24:00Speaker 2: thought you was a ref was gonna be the person
- 24:06Speaker 2: running up and down the court. I had no idea.
- 24:07Speaker 2: My mom kind of she kept that private, she kept
- 24:10Speaker 2: that separate. She let us be kids, which I love.
- 24:13Speaker 2: So that's hilarious. All right, let's break for halftime. We
- 24:17Speaker 2: have reached the halftime segment of the show. We're gonna
- 24:19Speaker 2: play a couple of games with you, all right. The
- 24:22Speaker 2: first one is the thirty second shot clock. So I'm
- 24:25Speaker 2: gonna ask you this or that questions. Wait, let's yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 2: I need you to get your timer out. I need
- 24:32Speaker 2: someone who can give me thirty seconds. That's what I need.

- 25:02Speaker 2: got shoo. These are these are silly? We google some
- 25:04Speaker 2: of these. Oh no, oh no, it definitely won't be that,

- 25:24Speaker 2: DJ DJ pull or casino puller casinol. What happens in
- 25:29Speaker 2: Vegas stays in Vegas or leaves the bague efteen seconds,
- 25:33Speaker 2: stays cash aprisel. So is honesty always the best policy? Yes?
- 25:37Speaker 3: Or no? Yes?
- 25:38Speaker 2: Thirst? Would you rather be thirsty in the desert or freezing? Ozard?
- 25:43Speaker 2: Thirsty in the desert, freezing in the blizzard?
- 25:45Speaker 3: Freezing?
- 25:47Speaker 4: Yeah it was good casino?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, shoes casino. I'm at the pool all
- 26:02Speaker 2: day something. And then I was thinking of these questions
- 26:04Speaker 2: in my sleep. I kid you not. I was like
- 26:07Speaker 2: yoga or the gym, like in my sleep. The one
- 26:11Speaker 2: that got me was thirsty in the desert or freezing.
- 26:13Speaker 3: And I'm blind. So you're like you like I might freeze.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I don't know what to free miss snow I missed
- 26:24Speaker 4: the snow, all right.
- 26:25Speaker 2: So now we got to play family feud. I love this, okay,
- 26:28Speaker 2: But the thing is, we don't have to do it
- 26:30Speaker 2: a little, you know. So I can't leave the room,
- 26:33Speaker 2: you know at the very end where they do the
- 26:35Speaker 2: fast money. That's what we're going to be doing. But
- 26:37Speaker 2: I can't. I'm not supposed to listen to your answers
- 26:40Speaker 2: and put on to I'm gonna go by the honest

- 28:27Speaker 3: Strawberries.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Name something that people.

- 28:40Speaker 5: Name some of you might find in a kitchen knives.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Okay, that's it. Okay, okay, we're done. Yes, I hope

- 28:54Speaker 3: Let me get it.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Okay, wing, y'all, I'm competitive. Hold on, hold on, hold on,

- 30:13Speaker 3: Okay, here we go.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I'm telling it up. I'm telling it up on. This
- 30:18Speaker 2: is fun. It's we're a little bit ghetto, but it's okay.
- 30:22Speaker 2: It's okay. We're doing We're doing the ghetto.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Steve Harvey fabulous. We had the win.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Okay, I gotta use a calculator because I can't do
- 30:32Speaker 2: mental math right now. All this I feel like I
- 30:34Speaker 2: won seek. I'm sorry. Okay, you have to get give
- 30:39Speaker 2: me a drink. Has to pay for drinks, non drinking stuff. Okay,
- 30:48Speaker 2: hold on, hold on, who I'm almost there, you guys,
- 30:51Speaker 2: this is so much fun. I need a little music.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I'm just playing.
- 30:54Speaker 5: I'm right, I'm going off the honor system because you did.
- 30:56Speaker 5: You have to go off your first answer. You can't
- 30:58Speaker 5: change the answer.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I'm just you definitely can't. I've seen people Maria Mariah
- 31:03Speaker 2: on Steve Harvey. Mariaeve Harvey, let Google change answer, Maria,
- 31:10Speaker 2: we are not changing answers. Okay, and here, okay, okay, okay,
- 31:14Speaker 2: I have it to okay, so zeke the answers. Okay.
- 31:19Speaker 5: So for the most popular color car, you chose black.
- 31:23Speaker 5: That was twenty four points. For the popular soda you
- 31:26Speaker 5: chose coke, which was the number one, which was thirty
- 31:29Speaker 5: nine points. The fruit that you chose was strawberries. That
- 31:32Speaker 5: was the fifth like that was but it was eight points.
- 31:36Speaker 5: And something people might do once a week you set workout,
- 31:40Speaker 5: so that's exercise. That was twenty one points. And you
- 31:42Speaker 5: said name something that was in the kitchen. You said knives,
- 31:45Speaker 5: and that was that was zero.
- 31:48Speaker 2: That was zero. So that was ninety two points. Wow, okay, Mariah,
- 31:52Speaker 2: so you you don't even have to run through it.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Just tell me what I did.
- 31:57Speaker 5: So, Mariah, the popular color car you said white. That
- 32:00Speaker 5: was number first. That was thirty five points.
- 32:03Speaker 3: You said dr pepper.
- 32:05Speaker 2: You said doctor pepper.
- 32:07Speaker 5: I changed it eleven points eleven okay. The fruit you
- 32:13Speaker 5: said blueberries, I said banana. You said bananas. Oh eighteen points.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Oh well, yeah, you really did win.
- 32:20Speaker 2: But thank you? All right, okay, and that.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Is our time.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Hazy hazy, okay, okay. Question, what's one part about being
- 32:33Speaker 2: born to the game that you think would surprise people?
- 32:38Speaker 4: I think that people would be surprised to know that
- 32:44Speaker 4: just because you're born to the game does not mean
- 32:49Speaker 4: that you can necessarily hoop.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Yeah, shouts to Jeff t Jeff Tig gave me some
- 33:00Speaker 4: on his podcast. He said that, you know, Bronnie currently
- 33:07Speaker 4: is holding it down for the goats of all time.
- 33:10Speaker 4: He said, you know that I'm not good. He used
- 33:13Speaker 4: different language. Marcus Jordan also not good. E j is
- 33:20Speaker 4: not a hooper. But I'm gonna throw this out there.
- 33:28Speaker 4: David Stockton, number two all time in g League assists,
- 33:33Speaker 4: it's pretty cool.
- 33:34Speaker 3: That you know John's number one all the time.
- 33:36Speaker 4: An MBA assists, I'm throwing out there, David Stockton, the
- 33:40Speaker 4: goat of Goaded Sons.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Shout out to David. I love the answer. Okay.
- 33:46Speaker 5: I think it's weird they expect that you don't have
- 33:49Speaker 5: to be as you don't.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Have to be you know what I think it is.
- 33:53Speaker 2: But I think it's worse. And I will say I
- 33:56Speaker 2: think it's worse for the boys. I think being a
- 33:58Speaker 2: son of a legend, people really have that expectation of you,
- 34:02Speaker 2: not so much of the daughters. I mean, they still
- 34:04Speaker 2: have it, but I just think it's worse for you.
- 34:07Speaker 3: I wonder what Asia Wilson and BAM's kid.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Oh, bless, look bless, that child's hard. Already, child's not
- 34:14Speaker 2: even here. We already got to pray for him because
- 34:16Speaker 2: I know the ooh sure, okay, so let's go into
- 34:21Speaker 2: the Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 5: So there's always challenges in any journey that you're on.
- 34:27Speaker 5: You go from sixth grade to tenth grade, you go
- 34:29Speaker 5: from Indiana to New York. Talk about some of the
- 34:32Speaker 5: challenges and the things that you had to face.
- 34:34Speaker 2: You've kind of.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Touched on a little bit with heartbreaking moves and things
- 34:38Speaker 5: like that, but just the challenges that stick out to you,
- 34:44Speaker 5: and then also how you overcame the challenges.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Well, there's still the challenges and the privileges. I can
- 34:52Speaker 4: remember being called a different type of black person, and
- 34:58Speaker 4: what that meant was that I was more than welcome
- 35:03Speaker 4: at my white friend's house. But I remember one time
- 35:08Speaker 4: my cousin, you know, he my cousin, you got you
- 35:11Speaker 4: got priple, this your cousin or whatever. Uh, but my
- 35:15Speaker 4: cousin had braids. It was about six six, went to
- 35:18Speaker 4: the same private school.
- 35:19Speaker 3: I did you know, he's smart. I'm smart. But because
- 35:23Speaker 3: he had braids and was six six, he was.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Not welcome at my white friend's house. And hearing that,
- 35:33Speaker 4: processing that, realizing that you're really only rocking with me
- 35:40Speaker 4: because of my last name or your family is you
- 35:45Speaker 4: know my friend at the moment, he was like, I
- 35:47Speaker 4: know this is wrong, but you.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Know, they knew.
- 35:52Speaker 3: The kids knew this was wrong.
- 35:54Speaker 4: But you can't really, you know, argue with the parent,
- 35:58Speaker 4: but the kids knew it was wrong. And it's moments
- 36:02Speaker 4: like that that you still go through, even being a
- 36:08Speaker 4: privileged child. And when you are black in America, no
- 36:16Speaker 4: matter how much privilege you have, you are still reminded
- 36:21Speaker 4: that you are black in America.
- 36:24Speaker 2: And I'm not going to get into that deeply, but
- 36:28Speaker 2: Dad's recent experience I think kind of reminded me of
- 36:32Speaker 2: that as well. Do you feel like but do you
- 36:35Speaker 2: feel like it?
- 36:35Speaker 5: I mean, just to your point, do you feel like
- 36:37Speaker 5: it's certain it was certain parts or do you like
- 36:40Speaker 5: certain parts of the country or do you feel like
- 36:42Speaker 5: it was just in general, okay, like.
- 36:45Speaker 4: That that happened in New York. Yeah, I mean even
- 36:47Speaker 4: in Indiana. Yeah, I definitely experienced racism, but that happened
- 36:51Speaker 4: in good old New York, you know where you would think,
- 36:55Speaker 4: you know, liberal free mindset whatever and all that exists. Yes, yes,
- 36:58Speaker 4: but when I was growing up, there was still this
- 37:04Speaker 4: status thing. Now what I'm seeing in gen Z even
- 37:09Speaker 4: though y'all, y'all, wow, y'all definitely are open minded to races, genders, identities.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Which is cool to see because that didn't exist for me.
- 37:23Speaker 4: So hopefully y'all can keep this going and don't forget
- 37:28Speaker 4: where y'all came from, because there have been many people
- 37:32Speaker 4: who I know, who I grew up with, who were
- 37:36Speaker 4: down with me, down with black people, down with gay people.
- 37:39Speaker 3: And now all of a sudden they mag it all out.
- 37:44Speaker 3: So just stay true to who you are.
- 37:49Speaker 4: And just remember that, you know, because in times like this,
- 37:52Speaker 4: black people need help, Latino people need help, Gay people
- 37:55Speaker 4: need help. It's like we all, we all trying to
- 37:57Speaker 4: with women in general, need help. We all we meet
- 38:00Speaker 4: each other waking up. So let's just keep moving forward
- 38:06Speaker 4: and stick together.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Yeah, So how do you How did you move through
- 38:09Speaker 5: the challenges? Like what was what did you learn? And
- 38:13Speaker 5: what what inside you happened to help you through those times?
- 38:18Speaker 4: Moving through the challenges for me was relying on my family.
- 38:23Speaker 4: I'm relying on history.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I am a.
- 38:26Speaker 4: Student of history. I like I like to read. I
- 38:29Speaker 4: like to just know stuff. I'm always the person who
- 38:32Speaker 4: is reading the news in the morning, reading the New
- 38:34Speaker 4: York Times, Financial Times. That that's me. I post about politics.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I know y'all going to go on my Instagram. You
- 38:40Speaker 3: post about politics too much. I'm sorry. That's what I like.
- 38:44Speaker 4: I like like my friends like to post food on
- 38:47Speaker 4: their stories.
- 38:47Speaker 3: I like to post information on mind on.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Learning how to navigate through all that, like how to
- 39:01Speaker 4: truly be the son of and then carve your own
- 39:08Speaker 4: your own path.
- 39:12Speaker 3: When we moved to New.
- 39:13Speaker 4: York and I was able to be Zeke and able
- 39:16Speaker 4: to step into being a DJ, able to step into
- 39:19Speaker 4: being a creative, able to use my activism voice.
- 39:22Speaker 3: You know, my family's full of activists.
- 39:24Speaker 4: But yeah, I got sexually assaulted and was able to
- 39:28Speaker 4: use my platform for change, for positive change, and I.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Want to keep doing that. I'm not.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Afraid to as my man JV said, stand on business serious?
- 39:46Speaker 3: Is it clocking for.
- 39:49Speaker 1: That?
- 39:50Speaker 2: And not perfectly segues into our next segment for the
- 39:54Speaker 2: now and next. So your experience helped create this version
- 39:59Speaker 2: of today?
- 40:00Speaker 3: Right?
- 40:01Speaker 2: So where are you now? You talk about being an activist,
- 40:04Speaker 2: We know that you are in human rights and mental
- 40:06Speaker 2: health awareness. So did that experience in New York help
- 40:12Speaker 2: I guess spark this passion of yours to go into
- 40:15Speaker 2: activism or you know, your music kind of talk us
- 40:19Speaker 2: through that.
- 40:20Speaker 4: My experience in New York allowed me to see that
- 40:25Speaker 4: I have a voice that can impact. You know, I
- 40:32Speaker 4: told you all my dad was on the newspaper almost
- 40:35Speaker 4: every other day, and what that showed me was, Okay,
- 40:40Speaker 4: for whatever reason, people are paying attention to him, Now
- 40:43Speaker 4: they're paying attention to you. I remember getting followed by
- 40:46Speaker 4: the New York Post to school, getting followed by the media,
- 40:49Speaker 4: getting asked question this, and getting my phone number and stuff,
- 40:53Speaker 4: and then finally saying something and then seeing it in print,
- 40:59Speaker 4: being like, oh shit, yeah, I'm in the New York Post.
- 41:05Speaker 4: I have a voice, even though my parents are like,
- 41:06Speaker 4: why'd you do that? Yeah, but at that moment realizing okay,
- 41:13Speaker 4: I have impact Now if I pick my moments and act.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Right, lead, right, respect my duty.
- 41:23Speaker 4: Does that word again, Now I can truly have an impact.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Now I can sit on the boards of you know, Normal,
- 41:32Speaker 4: you know, I represent weed.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Y'all, sorry, get into it, you know, tell, tell, tell
- 41:37Speaker 2: the viewers what you're doing all of the you know,
- 41:40Speaker 2: all the things that you're doing with your.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Yeah, sit on the board of Normal.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Nineteen seventy three and doing cannabis legislation fighting. It's one
- 41:50Speaker 4: of the one of the things that truly I believe
- 41:52Speaker 4: can set us free as a Black people, as just
- 41:56Speaker 4: the community in general, is connecting back with the plant.
- 42:02Speaker 4: Also in Champagne, Sheriline Champagne, it's been all surfed away.
- 42:09Speaker 3: That's why we were all looking like our glasses that
- 42:12Speaker 3: we drank them already, we drank them. And also one
- 42:18Speaker 3: World products.
- 42:19Speaker 4: We're doing great things in the bio hemp space with
- 42:25Speaker 4: Stilantis and some Moto automakers. Really just trying to turn sustainability.
- 42:31Speaker 4: And you know, everything I do is trying to move
- 42:36Speaker 4: the world forward. And if I can leave that imprint
- 42:41Speaker 4: on the world and that imprint on individuals, I love
- 42:44Speaker 4: I love mentoring people.
- 42:46Speaker 3: If y'all want to hit me up. I charged five
- 42:48Speaker 3: dollars an idea. But you know y'all can hit me up.
- 42:50Speaker 2: I mean, now, I'll give you a hobby. I can
- 42:57Speaker 2: do it. So where do you see yourself years? And
- 43:00Speaker 2: then we'll transition into the last segment.
- 43:04Speaker 4: I'm fortunate enough right now to be able to work
- 43:12Speaker 4: around the NBA. So in five years, hopefully I'm still
- 43:17Speaker 4: working around the NBA doing the thing that I.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Love, which is basketball.
- 43:22Speaker 4: And if not, I tell you what, in five years,
- 43:26Speaker 4: I'm still gonna bring in be bringing my folding share.
- 43:30Speaker 4: I'm still gonna be sitting in these rooms telling people
- 43:32Speaker 4: to vote. I'm still gonna be sitting in these rooms
- 43:35Speaker 4: talking about equal rights. I'm still gonna.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Be sitting in these rooms talking about l G V
- 43:39Speaker 3: T Q I A plus right, okay. And I'm still
- 43:42Speaker 3: gonna be getting in magas Okay.
- 43:48Speaker 5: But he said, but I like what he said. He said,
- 43:50Speaker 5: he's gonna be in the room. He's gonna be in
- 43:52Speaker 5: the room, going to be in the room.
- 43:53Speaker 2: And if you have to bring.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Your voting share, did Mars and Mars him and Mars
- 43:57Speaker 5: him and March and they're going show up. And that's
- 44:00Speaker 5: a lot more than people do.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yes, So I love that.
- 44:03Speaker 5: Yes, man, I had something I want to say because
- 44:07Speaker 5: looking at him, he smiles just like his dad.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Look at him.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Look.
- 44:12Speaker 2: But you know what that perfectly segues into.
- 44:17Speaker 5: So you said that your dad, you were like at
- 44:19Speaker 5: your dad's hip, and you have you just described this
- 44:22Speaker 5: beautiful love story.
- 44:23Speaker 3: Always that is hip. I mean I knew trades before
- 44:25Speaker 3: they were going. I knew trades before woj okay. I
- 44:30Speaker 3: love it.
- 44:31Speaker 2: So you're attached to his hip. You know, you look
- 44:34Speaker 2: up to him. He's your guy. So if there's anything
- 44:37Speaker 2: you could say to him, what would it be?
- 44:41Speaker 3: Thank you?
- 44:42Speaker 4: Thank you for allowing me to grow. Thank you for allowing.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Me to make mistakes.
- 44:51Speaker 4: Thank you for catching me when I made those mistakes.
- 44:56Speaker 4: Thank you for brushing me off and believing in me
- 44:59Speaker 4: and enough to let me go out and make those
- 45:05Speaker 4: mistakes again. I really thank you for rocking with me,
- 45:11Speaker 4: believing in me. And this is the greatest time of
- 45:16Speaker 4: my life and I'm glad that I get to share
- 45:19Speaker 4: it with you.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Oh my God, make me cry. You look so happy.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Saying you do the joy when you talk about your
- 45:26Speaker 5: dad like it literally you just you light up like him.
- 45:29Speaker 2: And then you light up.
- 45:31Speaker 5: So I know that through the times you've had so
- 45:34Speaker 5: many just times with him and talking with him. What's
- 45:38Speaker 5: some of the best advice he's ever given you?
- 45:42Speaker 2: Oh? Should we be worried?
- 45:43Speaker 3: Right?
- 45:44Speaker 2: Should we pause and talk about this thing?
- 45:48Speaker 4: There's three things that my dad taught me, big advice
- 45:52Speaker 4: that I will stick by. Number one, the one you
- 46:01Speaker 4: love the most has the ability to hurt you the most.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Yeah, wow wow. Yeah.
- 46:09Speaker 4: Number two, the same effort you put into it is.
- 46:17Speaker 3: What you're going to get out of it.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Amen.
- 46:20Speaker 3: And number three, just smile.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Just wait, you just smile, just smiling. Just Brian's up
- 46:31Speaker 2: your day, even if you're in a bad mood. Just
- 46:33Speaker 2: that's that's great. Shout out to Isaiah so Zeke. Your
- 46:38Speaker 2: dad made his mark on the game basketball. How do
- 46:42Speaker 2: you plan on legendizing your world?
- 46:49Speaker 4: It is a duty for me to leave a mark
- 46:52Speaker 4: on the world. It is a duty for me to
- 46:54Speaker 4: use my voice to speak out for equal rights and
- 47:00Speaker 4: equal justice under the law.
- 47:04Speaker 3: How I plan on leaving my mark on the world?
- 47:09Speaker 3: And do I feel a duty? Is it?
- 47:13Speaker 4: Is there some luck involved? There's definitely luck involved in life.
- 47:20Speaker 4: You have to follow it and you have to stay
- 47:22Speaker 4: true to it, and I'm staying true to my duty
- 47:27Speaker 4: of fighting for equal rights and hopefully that brings me
- 47:30Speaker 4: a lot of luck.
