- 0:03Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's time now for one on one with the pro
- 0:08Speaker 1: and from Truity Credit Union. We have Nicole McKinney in
- 0:12Speaker 1: here like you've never been here before. How you doing, Nicole,
- 0:15Speaker 1: You're one of my favorites. You keep coming back for more.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm good. How are you doing?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Just absolutely super? But you know, if Truity Credit Union
- 0:25Speaker 1: wasn't a doing such a bang up job before, they're
- 0:28Speaker 1: doing it even better today. I understand you're giving one
- 0:31Speaker 1: hundred dollars bills.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yes we are. We're really excited. We just kicked off
- 0:35Speaker 2: our summer promotion. It's for our hundred dollars checking and
- 0:39Speaker 2: so if you are an existing member and you do
- 0:41Speaker 2: not have a checking account, you qualify for that hundred dollars,
- 0:44Speaker 2: or if you want to come in and open an account,
- 0:46Speaker 2: you get one hundred dollars, no strings attached.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Wow, it's that easy, huh?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Is it's that easy?
- 0:51Speaker 1: So if you've been driving by the Downtown facility or
- 0:54Speaker 1: the new Wow I call it really artsy one down
- 0:59Speaker 1: there on the Washington, just pop in and ask about it. Yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: the next thing you know, you know, if you one
- 1:05Speaker 1: hundred dollars richer, and you're working with a whole team
- 1:08Speaker 1: of people that really have your best interest at heart
- 1:11Speaker 1: because you're a member.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Suddenly, yes you're a member. We give you one hundred dollars.
- 1:16Speaker 2: You can take that and go spend it however you like.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So, wow, that's great. Now, when we talk about credit Union,
- 1:24Speaker 1: we often say truity a better way to bank. So
- 1:29Speaker 1: credit union is a little bit different than a bank.
- 1:32Speaker 1: A lot of similar things. But what's the difference between
- 1:36Speaker 1: a bank and a credit union.
- 1:38Speaker 2: So we're a not for profit, so whenever you become
- 1:41Speaker 2: a member, you're a part owner. We're banks. Whenever you
- 1:45Speaker 2: invest your money, it goes back to the shareholders. So
- 1:47Speaker 2: we actually give it back to our members for lower
- 1:51Speaker 2: loan rates and for higher savings rates.
- 1:54Speaker 1: That really works. Well, Yeah, pays to be a member.
- 1:57Speaker 1: It does. Yeah, big rewards all the way around. Now,
- 2:02Speaker 1: we have something that it's kind of neat, kind of
- 2:06Speaker 1: helps you save. It's called the name it save It.
- 2:10Speaker 1: How does this work?
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so you can actually open up and name it
- 2:13Speaker 2: save it. It's our high yield savings right now, it's
- 2:16Speaker 2: at three point seventy five percent interest. You can name
- 2:20Speaker 2: it whatever you'd like. So I've had mine be in
- 2:22Speaker 2: the past, like a typical vacation that we were going
- 2:25Speaker 2: to take, so we can save towards it. I've got
- 2:27Speaker 2: one for my girls for college. Just you name it,
- 2:31Speaker 2: you can save it.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Wow. It makes it easy because suddenly you've got that goal.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You can visualize it. Yeah, it has a name, so
- 2:40Speaker 1: it's it's yours.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah, your own right, I know.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But it does really help you be more disciplined in
- 2:47Speaker 1: a fun.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Way, in a fun way. It also has higher savings rates,
- 2:51Speaker 2: so it's.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Always fun when you have the rates coming with you.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yes, so you're able to earn more on your money,
- 2:57Speaker 2: so then you're actually getting more out of your investment.
- 3:00Speaker 1: They're very good, very good, and Trudy Credit Union is
- 3:04Speaker 1: a wonderful business in our community, but you're also in
- 3:08Speaker 1: other communities. Now. I remember we were just talking just
- 3:12Speaker 1: before we went on the air. It looks like things
- 3:14Speaker 1: in pa Huska about ready to break around and get
- 3:17Speaker 1: things rocking and rolling.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yes, we're so excited to be in Bahusca. We're hopefully
- 3:21Speaker 2: I'm going to be open this winter, so that's kind
- 3:25Speaker 2: of our plan. And right now, if you're waiting for
- 3:28Speaker 2: us to come to Bahusca, you can get a Husky
- 3:30Speaker 2: Spirit card and so every time you swipe that card,
- 3:34Speaker 2: at portion goes back to their school.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Now, we played the little ad on k onetv dot
- 3:39Speaker 1: com quite a bit and we see all kinds of cards. Now,
- 3:43Speaker 1: these spirit cards these a lot of different area schools, right, Yes.
- 3:49Speaker 2: So we actually have one for Bartasville and then we
- 3:51Speaker 2: have one for Dewey as well, and then we also
- 3:54Speaker 2: have one for wool of Rock too. So every time
- 3:56Speaker 2: you swipe those cards, a portion goes back to the
- 3:59Speaker 2: schools and then to Wool of Rock as well.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Nice.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's great.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I like the way this all comes together. You know
- 4:06Speaker 1: what I often see too is that every now and
- 4:08Speaker 1: then when I cover the school board meetings, who do
- 4:13Speaker 1: you walk in there with a nine foot check.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yes, we love doing that. We actually gave one away
- 4:19Speaker 2: to Bartsville at the end of school and so that
- 4:22Speaker 2: was really nice to be able to give those funds
- 4:24Speaker 2: back to the school and for them to use them
- 4:26Speaker 2: as they need.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And it's as easy as just saying, hey, can I
- 4:30Speaker 1: have a Spirit card?
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yep, you can come into any of our branches and
- 4:33Speaker 2: get a spirit card. Yeah, and you can actually take
- 4:36Speaker 2: it home. You don't have to wait seven to ten
- 4:38Speaker 2: business days.
- 4:40Speaker 1: See folks convening. It's right there, right there. Yes, I understand.
- 4:44Speaker 1: You've got a nice little thing up in ned Dewey.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yes, our ITM and Dewey. It's very heavily trafficked. It's
- 4:51Speaker 2: been a great ad in Dewey. So people can utilize
- 4:55Speaker 2: that on their way into town or on their way home.
- 4:58Speaker 2: You can deposit cash or and you can also talk
- 5:01Speaker 2: to a live teller as well well.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Sign up again, So you pull into what appears to
- 5:06Speaker 1: be an automated you know thing, and the person you're
- 5:10Speaker 1: talking to it's not a recording, correct, this is an
- 5:14Speaker 1: actual person, Yes, who is helping you with your questions
- 5:19Speaker 1: or whatever you need to do.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, my gosh, I know. So if you forgot your
- 5:23Speaker 2: pin number, or if you didn't have your card on you, you
- 5:26Speaker 2: can hit the live teler option and they can look
- 5:29Speaker 2: up your account for you and you can still get cash.
- 5:32Speaker 1: How nice is that? Yeah? How nice? Is that?
- 5:34Speaker 2: So convenient?
- 5:35Speaker 1: True to Credit Union. We've got our our foot up
- 5:39Speaker 1: footprint up in Kansas too, where is it? Lawrence?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Lawrence and then olaitha Kansas. So in the Johnson County area.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Okay, that's right up there by Kansas City. Yeah. So
- 5:49Speaker 1: if we've got to the Chiefs game and you're like
- 5:50Speaker 1: going in, there's my way the McCurdy union. We're good.
- 5:55Speaker 1: But the thing is, if you have you know, a
- 5:58Speaker 1: card through it works anywhere.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It does the city that you service it does. So
- 6:05Speaker 2: we actually have shared branching, so it's what credit unions do.
- 6:09Speaker 2: So if you're traveling and you have a Truty credit
- 6:11Speaker 2: Union account, you can look up on our app or
- 6:14Speaker 2: online to see the nearest shared branch. So if you
- 6:16Speaker 2: need to go with draw money or deposit money, or
- 6:20Speaker 2: pay a loan while you're out traveling, you can do
- 6:22Speaker 2: that and you don't have to pay the fees.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Wow, that's amazing. One thing that I like about Truity
- 6:30Speaker 1: Credit Union is I always feel like I'm engaged with
- 6:34Speaker 1: what's going on, whether it's with my you know, savings account.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I do have a card that finance to Trudy, but
- 6:46Speaker 1: just about anything that is worth my while will pop
- 6:50Speaker 1: up right there on the website, including I can check
- 6:54Speaker 1: it anytime day or night. Yes, you'll have my credit score.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yes, our app and our our website are very user friendly,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and we're constantly updating those to stay up with the times.
- 7:07Speaker 2: So your cards, your funds are all secure. You can
- 7:10Speaker 2: access your credit score, you can track your spending, you
- 7:14Speaker 2: can move money, pay loans. It's very convenient.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You even have a little person that'll pop up in
- 7:21Speaker 1: a little box up there and you know, help you.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, So if you have a question and you
- 7:28Speaker 2: don't have time to call in, you can actually enter
- 7:30Speaker 2: our bot and so you can ask a question. It
- 7:32Speaker 2: goes to a live person here in Bardoesville at our
- 7:36Speaker 2: Johnstone branch.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Well, you know I that I had to use that once. Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm thankful. I actually saved some money there you go,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and it was just boom boom boom, but I'll get
- 7:46Speaker 1: to someone. By golly, they got me someone and remedy
- 7:50Speaker 1: on the way and remedy saved the day. Yeah, that
- 7:55Speaker 1: that was actually pretty cool. So we really are quite modern. Yes,
- 8:00Speaker 1: we are the technological wonders of the day.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yes, so.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And once again, you have a call center there too.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So if you don't feel good about the computer, and
- 8:12Speaker 1: I know that there are a handful of folks who
- 8:14Speaker 1: really they look at that and they just say.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, so if you do want to call, you
- 8:22Speaker 2: can call our contact center. You will speak to a
- 8:25Speaker 2: live person that is here at our Bartisville branch and
- 8:29Speaker 2: so they can help you with any of your questions.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Okay, So once again I want to remind folks that
- 8:34Speaker 1: if you open a checking account with Truly Credit Union
- 8:39Speaker 1: for a limited time, I guess yes, you can get
- 8:42Speaker 1: one hundred big old dollars.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred dollars. So right now we're doing our
- 8:48Speaker 2: summer checking promotion. If you have an account but don't
- 8:51Speaker 2: have a checking you can come and open one. You
- 8:53Speaker 2: get one hundred dollars. If you're looking to establish a
- 8:56Speaker 2: new banking relationship, come see us at Trudy Credit Union
- 9:00Speaker 2: at either our Johnstone branch or our branch off seventy five,
- 9:03Speaker 2: and we'd love to help you open one. You get
- 9:04Speaker 2: one hundred dollars, no strings attached.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Well, it doesn't get much better than that. You know.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Another thing I like about having cruity in our community
- 9:14Speaker 1: and is the fact that I can't go anywhere without
- 9:17Speaker 1: seeing somebody I know who worked at True. Yes, whether
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'm you know, going to an activity that's a civic
- 9:24Speaker 1: or nonprofit or a lot of it. You know, when
- 9:28Speaker 1: you have kids, you're at school a lot.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 1: But you know what, so a lot of people from
- 9:34Speaker 1: Cruity who have kids, you guys are right here in
- 9:36Speaker 1: the neighborhood. It's not like, you know, zipping some place
- 9:40Speaker 1: way far away.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So we're very thankful that our employees love to
- 9:45Speaker 2: be out in the community volunteering their time, giving back.
- 9:49Speaker 2: We actually have an event that we're going to help
- 9:52Speaker 2: with this weekend on Juneteenth at Unity Square. So we're
- 9:57Speaker 2: going to have our trailer out there grilling some hot
- 9:59Speaker 2: dogs giving those away.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You know, that trailer gets a lot of miles, it does.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I saw the trailer and maybe sampled a little bit
- 10:08Speaker 1: of the Where's fins beater at an eldercare about a
- 10:13Speaker 1: month ago. Yeah, at the dinner with friends we did.
- 10:17Speaker 1: We guys served up dinner.
- 10:18Speaker 2: We did. We served hamburgers and hot dogs. You can
- 10:21Speaker 2: even catch me sometimes behind the grill. So I was
- 10:24Speaker 2: helping out grilling up some hot dogs and my friend
- 10:28Speaker 2: Tim was actually grilling burgers. And we had some great
- 10:31Speaker 2: staff from Truity there serving. So it was a really
- 10:34Speaker 2: fun event and we were really excited to be able
- 10:36Speaker 2: to partner with elder Care that is.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Just so good. You know, the last thing I would
- 10:41Speaker 1: think of is that my financial institution it has a
- 10:49Speaker 1: food truck. Yeah, but they didn't. You do it for
- 10:52Speaker 1: a lot of nonprofits and a lot of the good
- 10:55Speaker 1: causes and everything. The funny thing is, if you drive
- 10:57Speaker 1: by on Johnson sometimes we see it kind of parked
- 11:01Speaker 1: out there, just inside, just outside your parking deck. Yes,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and that's a nice little calling card if you asked me.
- 11:08Speaker 2: It is. And during the spring and summer months we
- 11:12Speaker 2: put that trailer to good use several events. Sometimes we
- 11:15Speaker 2: do to a day you never know what you're gonna find.
- 11:18Speaker 2: But you'll actually see it at Sizzling Summer at Unity
- 11:22Speaker 2: Square as well, so we hand out free items there
- 11:24Speaker 2: as well. And so we love to put that to
- 11:27Speaker 2: good use, and our employees love to work it.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Well. I gotta tell you, it's just one of those
- 11:33Speaker 1: things of goodwill and that's just kind of the way
- 11:36Speaker 1: it works. And again, the name it Save It program
- 11:39Speaker 1: is available too. So if you're looking to perhaps save
- 11:43Speaker 1: for something special, maybe it's graduation, maybe it's a vacation,
- 11:47Speaker 1: maybe it's a brand new car. Yes, you can definitely
- 11:52Speaker 1: do that. Some folks even say I'm going to save
- 11:55Speaker 1: for a house. And you know what, if you're going
- 11:58Speaker 1: to be doing that, start to day, please and start
- 12:03Speaker 1: at true to Credit Union. You got people who know
- 12:06Speaker 1: things we do.
- 12:08Speaker 2: We have experts in our mortgage department, consumer lending, and
- 12:12Speaker 2: in our accounts. They're very knowledgeable and trained, and so
- 12:15Speaker 2: they can help any member out with any questions that
- 12:17Speaker 2: they have.
- 12:18Speaker 1: You know, you have such great resources, not online but
- 12:21Speaker 1: also with the people who work. I can only speak
- 12:25Speaker 1: to the downtown location because I haven't gone into the
- 12:27Speaker 1: pretty one down on Washington Union, but I'm often taking
- 12:32Speaker 1: care of business downtown. But if the teller can't answer
- 12:37Speaker 1: the question, guess what you got to like this whole
- 12:40Speaker 1: rows and rows of people. I thought I had no
- 12:43Speaker 1: idea what they did. You know what they do. They
- 12:46Speaker 1: help you, the customer, navigate through any kind of something
- 12:51Speaker 1: that you don't understand, or perhaps have introduced you to
- 12:55Speaker 1: something that can actually help you.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Yes, hard with Credit Unions are people helping people, and
- 13:01Speaker 2: so that's what we strive to do is to help
- 13:03Speaker 2: our members the best that we can and serve them
- 13:06Speaker 2: the best that we can. And so that is something
- 13:08Speaker 2: that we pride ourselves in.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And they're very very conscientious folks. They're going to meet
- 13:16Speaker 1: you where you are, and you're not going to get overwhelmed.
- 13:19Speaker 1: It's not like somebody going, hey, hey, hey, let's tell
- 13:22Speaker 1: you something. That's not how it goes. It's more like,
- 13:24Speaker 1: how can we help you? Yes, not how can I
- 13:29Speaker 1: help myself while I help you? Exactly, completely opposite of that. Yes,
- 13:33Speaker 1: and my goodness, six, where do you find these folks
- 13:37Speaker 1: if they all live here in town? Pretty right?
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yes, we have several that live here in town. We
- 13:41Speaker 2: have some that drive in. But again, we're just really
- 13:44Speaker 2: thankful we have great employees.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah. So once again we have our downtown. And if
- 13:51Speaker 1: you're ever in line, and I doubt that you will,
- 13:54Speaker 1: because folks will, You've got plenty of tailers. Take a
- 13:58Speaker 1: look at the muror, because every time I take a
- 14:01Speaker 1: look at the mirror, I go on, that wasn't there
- 14:03Speaker 1: last time? Yeah, Oh it was there, I just didn't
- 14:06Speaker 1: see it, you know. Yeah, And so that's always kind
- 14:09Speaker 1: of a passive way to have a little bit of
- 14:11Speaker 1: fun there too. But also, if you have any questions,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you can go online, you can go on telephone, or
- 14:18Speaker 1: by golly, you can even do it in person.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, get the personal touch. Yeah, we can help
- 14:25Speaker 2: you in branch, online through our mobile app or call in.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Very good. Hey, Nicole, I want to thank you for
- 14:31Speaker 1: coming in. And you know it's a little warm out there,
- 14:35Speaker 1: but I understand Jordy even has air conditioning going on
- 14:38Speaker 1: in there. We did, Grant Alrighty, thank you for being
- 14:43Speaker 1: with us today and folks, thank you for watching you
- 14:46Speaker 1: in on our one on one with the pro with
- 14:49Speaker 1: Truity Credit Union right here on K one, the one
- 14:52Speaker 1: you trust, stay
