- 3:33Dayna Roselli: We got a lot to talk about.
- 3:34Dayna Roselli: First, let's get right to Janet Jackson because we've had a lot of people going, I can't wait for your review.
- 3:39Dayna Roselli: We don't really review things, but we, you know, have our breakdown.
- 3:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, we have our we talk about our experience at the show.
- 3:47Sean McAllister: Uh first of all, Janet Jackson, she kicked off her new Las Vegas residency on December 30th.
- 3:53Sean McAllister: Uh, New Year's Eve weekend was her big launch of the residency over at the Resorts World Theater.
- 3:59Sean McAllister: And I mean, that theater was full.
- 4:02Sean McAllister: It was full.
- 4:03Sean McAllister: She had Janet Jackson fans out in full force.
- 4:08Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 4:08Dayna Roselli: And she really, and I'm just gonna say it, looked incredible and just seemed so happy up there on stage.
- 4:14Dayna Roselli: And wanted to mention right off the top, Catherine Jackson, her mom, was sitting behind us for a little bit.
- 4:19Dayna Roselli: She was in a wheelchair.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: Everyone was standing for a lot of the beginning parts of the show, and she couldn't really see, so they moved her.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: But we loved seeing her with this big smile on her face, looking up at the screen and watching Janet, her daughter, perform on stage in Las Vegas again.
- 4:37Dayna Roselli: Uh, what a treat that was.
- 4:39Sean McAllister: I mean, the matriarch of the Jackson family.
- 4:41Sean McAllister: That's a huge, that's a huge deal that Catherine was there.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: Well, and I kind of looked at you and I was like, I feel like, you know, this is quite a moment for us.
- 4:49Sean McAllister: Oh, without a doubt.
- 4:50Sean McAllister: Are you kidding?
- 4:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah, sitting in front of Catherine Jackson, you know.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: The mother of Michael and Janet and all the other Jacksons.
- 4:57Dayna Roselli: Jermaine, Tito, La Toya.
- 4:58Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, all of them.
- 4:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: So it was it was nice to see her there.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: And yeah, she's over 90 now, and you know, it was beautiful to see her at the theater enjoying her daughter.
- 5:08Sean McAllister: And she's still out in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve weekend.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: She doesn't slow down.
- 5:12Sean McAllister: Go, Katherine.
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: I know, go Catherine.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: Uh, Janet's show was great.
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: Um, started off with some songs that we didn't know too well, but I know the diehards uh do know them.
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: She pulled them like deep from the catalog, apparently.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: And I noticed the people who were really up front were just loving every minute.
- 5:30Dayna Roselli: Didn't matter though for me.
- 5:31Dayna Roselli: I felt like, okay, this is great to hear something new from Janet.
- 5:34Dayna Roselli: I enjoyed it.
- 5:35Dayna Roselli: Costumes were great, sets were good.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: Took a little while uh for her to get into the stuff that I guess you what would you call it?
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: The radio hits, like the ones that everyone knows no matter what.
- 5:45Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 5:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, but she got to it.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: And let me tell you, gimme a beat.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: It was so good.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: We heard nasty, nasty boys, uh rhythm nation.
- 5:57Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: She had dancers up there.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: Uh, so many of her, she has so many hits.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: She did over 40 songs during the show.
- 6:04Sean McAllister: Yeah, and there are a lot of mashups in there because she couldn't do 40 full songs in the time that's allotted for that performance.
- 6:12Sean McAllister: Um, but man, she had it was enough of a snippet of the song to make you satisfied and get you up on your feet dancing the whole time.
- 6:22Sean McAllister: And I what I love, obviously the dancing and the costumes and the set, that was all great.
- 6:29Sean McAllister: But I also love seeing Janet's hair blowing in the wind.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: Well, we called it.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: Remember, we were like, oh, we just hope the the wind machine is back.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: And the wind machine was back.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: Full force.
- 6:40Sean McAllister: It was great.
- 6:42Sean McAllister: There was a lot of fire in this show, too.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: And even like fireworks at the end, kind of well, it like kind of we're supposed to emulate fireworks.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: So yeah, it was really cool.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: A lot of fire.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: Somebody said, I want to sit closer so I can feel the fire during the show.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: They commented on our Instagram, and I thought, well, good for you.
- 6:57Dayna Roselli: You're really going for it.
- 6:59Sean McAllister: Feel the heat.
- 7:00Sean McAllister: But I mean, Janet is just iconic to have her here on stage in Las Vegas doing her residency over at Resorts World.
- 7:09Sean McAllister: Great theater over there.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: There's always a great, it's always a great fan experience going in and out of that Resorts World theater too.
- 7:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 7:17Dayna Roselli: And listen, she's back for a bunch of shows in February.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: And um, it's right around Valentine's Day, too.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: So listen, men listening to this, if you got your girlfriend or wife, uh Janet Jackson tickets, I think she would be very happy.
- 7:34Sean McAllister: And make it dinner in a show.
- 7:35Sean McAllister: Right.
- 7:36Sean McAllister: There's great restaurants over there, too.
- 7:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, good times.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: Welcome Janet to Las Vegas, and yeah, might need to go see her again in February.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: Hey, someone else iconic is Pamela Anderson.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: She has uh obviously uh been around for a long time, hit massive fame when she was on uh Baywatch back in the day.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: It was a raw uh Chandler and Joey always used to watch Baywatch on Friends.
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: Remember, they would get in the recliner and get all ready to watch Baywatch.
- 8:05Sean McAllister: Kick the feet up really quick, have the cooler of beer right in between the chairs.
- 8:10Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 8:12Sean McAllister: So Pamela Anderson, she is now back for a new era of her acting career, and she's starring in a new movie which is out nationwide now.
- 8:23Sean McAllister: It's called The Last Showgirl.
- 8:25Sean McAllister: Uh, if you watched the Golden Globes recently, you may have seen that she was nominated for her uh lead actress role for this movie.
- 8:34Sean McAllister: We were able to go to a screening here in Las Vegas, an advanced screening, before it opened on uh January 10th.
- 8:41Sean McAllister: And man, I don't have enough good things to say about this movie.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: It was so great.
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: First of all, the event was great.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: The Beverly Theater is beautiful.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: What a perfect place to do this movie, you know, to do this QA and screening.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: And Pamela was there, and it was just um uh fascinating.
- 9:01Dayna Roselli: I loved the movie too, very raw.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: I think it was supposed to be that way, as she tells us.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: You'll hear in our interview in a little bit.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: Um, and I liked that about it.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: And and there's just so many things we could get into, but I'll leave it for the interview clip.
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: We're gonna run because we kind of get into it in the interview.
- 9:17Dayna Roselli: But it is Vegas to a T.
- 9:19Dayna Roselli: You will laugh, you might shed a tear, there's emotion, it's just got everything.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: It's got good music in it.
- 9:25Sean McAllister: It really does.
- 9:26Sean McAllister: An original song by Miley Cyrus that is just, I mean, it fits this movie to a T.
- 9:33Sean McAllister: It's a perfect addition.
- 9:34Sean McAllister: But just to give you a synopsis of what The Last Showgirl is about, it's about a seasoned showgirl who is part of the cast of one of these iconic Vegas showgirl shows.
- 9:45Sean McAllister: Um, there comes news that the show is closing, and you know, Pam in her character's name is Shelly.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: Uh, she, along with the rest of the cast, need to figure out what's next.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:56Sean McAllister: And this is a story that just connects so deeply, not only with people who have lived that experience here in Las Vegas, but there's people, no matter what your career field, who have had to deal with this.
- 10:08Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 10:08Dayna Roselli: And Pam's one of the older ones in the show.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: She's been in the show like since the start, you know, as far as the movie goes.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: Um, her character.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: So the younger ones are upset, but maybe not as invested as Shelly, played by Pamela, is great movie.
- 10:25Dayna Roselli: They shot it in 18 days, and they were able to do it mostly at the Rio.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: So the Rio opened up the wild theater for them.
- 10:33Dayna Roselli: So it's all very, very real.
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: All the scenes are shot on the ground.
- 10:39Dayna Roselli: Um, and the costumes are used from Jubilee.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, uh, those iconic showgirl costumes that are decades old but still have their sparkle, those feathers are fluffed, they've been uh meticulously maintained and now you know forever uh cemented in Hollywood history on film in the last showgirl, um which almost I felt it had almost a documentary kind of feel to it, where it was just very raw.
- 11:16Sean McAllister: It felt like you were along for the ride with each of these characters.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really did.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: It did, it did have that feel, that's for sure.
- 11:22Dayna Roselli: Um and Jamie Lee Curtis is in it, she's fabulous.
- 11:26Sean McAllister: Talk about a scene stealer.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: She plays an older cocktail waitress and just kills the part, you know?
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: A Vegas cocktail waitress.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: So that she just is so good.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: She plays Annette.
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: Um, also uh Billy Lord is in the movie and plays Hannah, Pamela's daughter, which I actually don't want to give away too much if you haven't seen the movie.
- 11:51Dayna Roselli: So but Billy's great in the movie too.
- 11:53Sean McAllister: She's fantastic.
- 11:54Dayna Roselli: And she is what, Carrie Fisher's daughter?
- 11:56Sean McAllister: Uh Carrie Fisher's daughter, uh, granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds.
- 12:01Dayna Roselli: Yes, right.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: And Dave Batista.
- 12:04Sean McAllister: Dave Batista.
- 12:05Dayna Roselli: He was excellent in the movie.
- 12:06Sean McAllister: Fantastic the casting was uh incredible.
- 12:10Sean McAllister: It's a Gia Coppola film.
- 12:12Sean McAllister: So it comes obviously, the the Coppolas have a very long history in filmmaking and very revered.
- 12:20Sean McAllister: So the fact that Gia Coppola was able to um, you know, really produce this independent film.
- 12:28Sean McAllister: It's an independent film which you hear all these names and think of the coppelas, and you wouldn't think that um you think it would be a major studio production.
- 12:38Sean McAllister: Um it wasn't.
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:40Sean McAllister: Um, but it man, did they all just hit it out of the park?
- 12:44Dayna Roselli: And it's so wonderful when an independent film all of a sudden becomes nominated for all these awards and rises to now we're we're going into the mainstream theaters and everyone wants to see it.
- 12:56Dayna Roselli: I mean, because that's a that's a true success story, I feel like, you know, because there's so much passion behind it.
- 13:01Dayna Roselli: Um and so many movies, you know, that are small and small budget make it big.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: What was the what like so many?
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: Like Little Miss Sunshine, was that it?
- 13:09Dayna Roselli: Remember that was like, yeah, I mean, the list goes on.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: There's tons, and and they deserve eyes.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: So I love, I love this.
- 13:16Dayna Roselli: Pam, you know, um, like you had mentioned, you know, this is a little resurgence for her acting, but also, you know, she had such a popular documentary recently.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: Uh, about what was that about?
- 13:26Dayna Roselli: Came out about two years ago.
- 13:27Sean McAllister: Two years ago, yeah.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: And so many people watched it, even if you didn't know tons about Pam Anderson, you learned more about her.
- 13:33Dayna Roselli: And I think we saw a side of Pamela Anderson that we wanted more of.
- 13:38Dayna Roselli: And she has delivered.
- 13:40Sean McAllister: Oh, delivered big time.
- 13:42Sean McAllister: So it was such uh a pleasure and a joy for us to be able to talk with Pam backstage after the screening of the last showgirl.
- 13:53Sean McAllister: So we want to share that conversation with you now.
- 13:56Dayna Roselli: The question brewing in my head is is was Shelly was her personality down on paper first, or did you kind of create her personality?
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: I'm curious about that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Well, I think you have a choice as an actor when it's a collaboration with a director, but also the script.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: When I read the script, I really I could hear her voice in my head already, and I really had an idea of playing her vulnerability and her um just passion and for for her art form and her mother daughter, the mother daughter story, and how um and I really loved that she was a very flawed character and she bears her heart on her sleeve, but she's not a pushover.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: It was great the way they organized the film too, because I did all my shots with my scenes with Jamie first and then with Dave Bautista and then with the girls and then with all of us together.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: So it kind of was very organized where I could really bond with everybody because it was such a short shoot.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: And that's what I think was so exciting for everyone to see it at TIFF, is because they'd only were there for like Jamie was there for only four days.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: And Dave was only there for a few days.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And to see the whole film together was exciting because you don't know.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: There's so much more to it than what's on the page, it just becomes something, it just it just becomes alive.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: And Vegas is its own character, which is uh has so much energy and beauty, and Vegas during the day, you know, is is is different than most people get to see.
- 15:17Sean McAllister: So I when you you talk about the the story and um the perseverance of the character, but this is a story that uh could have been for any number of people who still live here in Las Vegas.
- 15:32Sean McAllister: For for kids, it could be their grandma's story or their mom's story.
- 15:36Sean McAllister: Um are you excited about the fact that so many people will have such a personal connection with this film and story?
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: I am that's what I'm most excited about.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: I just love it when people come up to me and they say, I know a lot of Shelley's.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: And thank you so much for for portraying this character and and and telling this story in this film because um, you know, I remember my great aunt, you know, so like bedazzled head to toe, you know, this dro de vive.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: It wasn't about money, it was about a you know, happiness is a choice, she used to always say.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: And and I think that we all have that person in our lives, and especially in Las Vegas, you'll have, you know, people that were showgirls actually, and and and in and or in the entertainment business or actresses, and and like Billy, for instance, her grandmother was Debbie Reynolds, her mother Carrie Fisher, and so she, when we did that scene, it was the first scene we did together backstage where she's talking to me about, oh, so this was more important than me.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: And she really got to express her feelings about her relationship with her mom and her grandmother.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: And I was coming at it as a mother of you know, of sons in this industry, um, you know, being objectified, you know, slightly in my life and having to be able to face them as adults and beg for forgiveness, really, or at least have the conversation.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: And so those were really touching moments, and I think that they will resonate with a lot of people, especially around here.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: And that's why it was so important for me to come here and screen the film um before the film came out, because I wanted to show my respect and and appreciation to the community that helped us make the film.
- 17:14Dayna Roselli: Well, and I was gonna say, doing I've done behind the scenes of Jubilee before, I know Sean has too.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: And it felt for me, I was like, this is real.
- 17:21Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know those stairways, and I remember thinking like up and down the stairs.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: I mean, you guys made it very real.
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: I felt like watching the film.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: I never had that moment where I was like, this is just not how it is, or this is wrong, like ever.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: So congratulations on that.
- 17:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: That's a great compliment because people do, I think when they do uh stories, sometimes they try and they make a soundstage and they will try and pretend they're in Las Vegas.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: But we did it all here.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: All those backstage places were real, the mirrors, the handheld cameras.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: We um Gia likes to say the space kind of dictates how we're gonna film.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: So she'd rather go into this place and find what what the challenges are and have that be part of the creative process.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: So we just made it work, and I think the only way to to make it super authentic is to actually be here.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: So it was exciting to to do it all here.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: There was no shots done anywhere else.
- 18:13Sean McAllister: And the other part that made it authentic were those costumes, the Bob Mackey, Pete Menefee costumes that I came from the Las Vegas stage straight to this movie.
- 18:24Sean McAllister: Um they haven't been worn in a long time.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: For people, most people have never put that on.
- 18:31Sean McAllister: What does it do to you when you put those outfits on?
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, those were museum pieces, and they hadn't left the building in 30 years, some of them.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: So to put them on, I just felt like there were so many women that had worn them before me, and I felt like everybody was with me.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: And I felt like there was magic in the costumes.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: There were still girls' name tags in some of them, and I thought everybody that has ever worn this is here with me right now.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: You could feel it.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: It was magical.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: And the costumes, I mean, every it's just a dream to be able to wear something like that and to be, I mean, it's the epitome of glamour.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: And what I love about showgirls as opposed to any other kind of art form around those that kind of thing is that they were really revered and like they were treated like movie stars.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: They were really um looked at from a distance and protected, like they weren't supposed to mingle with people like in the casinos.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: You know, they went home after and it was very there was some distance where um where I think those kind of lines get blurred in some like in burlesque and things like that.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: So I just really felt like it was real women, ladies, it was powerful, beautiful, the the the the female form, and I there was so much about it that had so much pride to it.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: It's just and I loved that she that Shelly was just so adamant about her um love of the art form and how she didn't understand how you know the dirty circus, for instance.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: She was just like, but we're show girls.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: How could you do that?
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: And not even interested in really seeing it.
- 20:06Dayna Roselli: And I liked that part of it too.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Like she's like, I don't want to go.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: I don't know when I become I didn't know when I became the prude, but I have.
- 20:15Sean McAllister: I I feel like I totally connected with Shelly on that level too.
- 20:18Sean McAllister: I'm like, this art form needs to be here, it needs to come back.
- 20:22Sean McAllister: Do you hope that this will spark a resurgence in the art of showgirls?
- 20:29Sean McAllister: An appreciation.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Well, definitely an appreciation for showgirls, but definitely to I mean, yeah, hopefully it's inspirational because I mean the costumes alone are inspiring.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: So let's make more showgirl costumes.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: I'm sure it'll be a Halloween costume.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Everything I do ends up being in a Halloween costume.
- 20:46Dayna Roselli: Well, I know we have to wrap, but I mean, I you did mention you'd love to do a show here again.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, is that something on your radar where you would do it?
- 20:53Dayna Roselli: What would you envision?
- 20:54Dayna Roselli: What type of show would you love to be in?
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, I don't know.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna do a few more movies, and I have there's some musical elements to a lot of the films that I do.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: So I'm I don't know.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: You never know.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: Like again, I I remember saying at the end of my documentary, I have no idea what's gonna happen next.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: And I think living in the mystery and being okay with that is kind of a real romantic way to live.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: So I'll see what comes up.
- 21:15Dayna Roselli: You just gotta plant the seeds and put it out there, and you never know what people didn't I mean, uh hoping you're nominated for an award, but being nominated for a golden globe.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I mean, no, we didn't have this little tiny film, you know, very small budget and 18 days.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: I don't think anyone was um thinking these things.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: So that just proves to you that I mean there's no such thing as a small film.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, really, this is uh independent filmmaking.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: This is really a singular vision.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Gia Coppola, um, this is her vision.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: She didn't have a lot of people in her ears.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: It was so it was exciting to be able to make something really special and and her vision without it getting diluted with a lot of cooks in the kitchen.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad we got to make something special that people really love.
- 21:58Sean McAllister: Congratulations.
- 21:59Sean McAllister: Thank you.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Thank you, Pam.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: She looked great at the Golden Globes.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: She was nominated, didn't win, but you know what?
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: Didn't matter.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: She was nominated.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: And it was funny when she was leaving.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: I said, What are you wearing to the Golden Globes?
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: Because it was like a few days before.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: She's like, I don't know, something.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: Something.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: And I thought that was really funny, but she was so sweet.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: Well, and I thought it was, I saw one of her interviews on uh the red carpet before the award ceremony.
- 22:21Sean McAllister: And she said, You know what?
- 22:22Sean McAllister: I don't have a glam team.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: I don't have people doing my hair and makeup and a stylist and all that stuff.
- 22:29Sean McAllister: She's like, I'm just doing this.
- 22:30Sean McAllister: I'm doing what feels right for me.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:32Sean McAllister: And I love that.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I do too.
- 22:34Dayna Roselli: And I think a lot of people are really, you know, commending her on that.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: So good for her.
- 22:39Dayna Roselli: The movie comes out nationwide January 10th, and it will be playing here in Las Vegas at the Beverly Theater.
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: Again, they're gonna do like a week of showings, and that starts uh, what did I say?
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: The 23rd.
- 22:51Sean McAllister: 23rd of January, yeah.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: So um definitely go see it.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: And it could be really cool to go see it in Las Vegas.
- 22:57Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 22:57Sean McAllister: Hey, uh something else that's made headlines out of Las Vegas and really has gone everywhere.
- 23:04Sean McAllister: Uh, was just after Christmas, there were all those videos going around of New Year.
- 23:10Sean McAllister: Was it New Year?
- 23:11Sean McAllister: Was it New Year?
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think it was right after New Year.
- 23:13Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 23:14Dayna Roselli: Same thing.
- 23:14Dayna Roselli: After Christmas and after New Year's.
- 23:15Sean McAllister: After Christmas, after New Year's.
- 23:16Dayna Roselli: I remember when I was like, this is not a great way to start 2025.
- 23:19Dayna Roselli: Uh yeah.
- 23:19Sean McAllister: Well, it was that Cybertruck that uh caught fire and ultimately kind of exploded with fireworks, um, parked out in front of the Trump International Hotel here in Las Vegas.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, kind of woke up to that, you know, and some of the sites that we follow that, you know, put all those kinds of videos out there, like you had mentioned, thought, okay, well, something went wrong, a car, you know, engine or whatever, and it was a little fire, but then it obviously turned out to be a much bigger deal.
- 23:48Dayna Roselli: Uh, I do commend the police and FBI for for being on this quickly and getting some answers.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: Um, and obviously things are still coming out about that whole incident.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: We won't get into all that, but it, you know, it was a I guess a suicide.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:03Dayna Roselli: Um, nobody else, well, some people had my minor injuries, but nobody else was hurt too bad, which was great.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 24:10Dayna Roselli: Um, but like you said, it did seem like just another day in Vegas for a minute until things started to unfold.
- 24:16Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 24:16Sean McAllister: I mean, when I first saw that, I was like, uh a car fire, something right.
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: Burning, yeah.
- 24:24Sean McAllister: Burning, whatever.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: That's just another day in Vegas.
- 24:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 24:28Sean McAllister: There's weird wacky things that happen here.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: And we have such great response teams that it's like usually out in two minutes.
- 24:33Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 24:33Dayna Roselli: That one person happens to get it on camera and then it goes viral on, you know, X or whatever.
- 24:38Dayna Roselli: Um, so yeah, so um everything has settled down from that.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: No more danger.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: Um, but I did want to just say, you know, it was really cool to see Resorts World open up the resort for the people who had to leave the Trump Hotel and needed a place to stay.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: So I love the, you know, the fact that the community, again, when something happens and people are nervous and and don't have a place to to stay or where to go, that we we open up and figure out a figure out a way to deal with it.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Kudos to all the the law enforcement, like you said, who are involved in that and the emergency response teams as well.
- 25:13Dayna Roselli: You know, it's just, can I just say one thing?
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: It's so interesting because uh people wanted so much information, which we all want information right away, but I had a little back and forth with some people because I was posting some updates from the press conference and I thought they worked really, really quick.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: But it was like everyone wanted every single answer in like, you know, five hours.
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: And I think we just need to, I don't know, as a longtime journalist, I just want to say, like, I'm annoyed that people want the facts and they complain when the facts aren't out there, but yet they want to rush everyone to put information out.
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: And sometimes we just need to sit back and say, these are the people we put in this position, these are the people who went through the test, these are the people who applied and got the job.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: And we hope that they'll do the best that they can to investigate as quickly as they can and get the details in a timely manner.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: When there's a death involved, there's families that need to be contacted, there's phones that need to be unlocked and and you know, investigated and gone through.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: So I just I don't know, the the whole rushing has started to really frustrate me when people pressure.
- 26:18Sean McAllister: Well, and I mean that's just a byproduct of all of these internet sleuths who are out there these days, especially on you know, social media platforms like Twitter or X now.
- 26:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 26:34Sean McAllister: Um, you know, people just go down these rabbit holes and try and try and play detective.
- 26:40Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 26:40Sean McAllister: And I think people have gotten users of these platforms have gotten used to that kind of information.
- 26:49Sean McAllister: And when you're getting information from official sources, that's not how it works.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: It's how it's never uh worked like that.
- 26:58Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 26:58Sean McAllister: You know, especially coming from journalism backgrounds, like you understand that investigations take time.
- 27:06Sean McAllister: Not all information that authorities know at the time is able to be released because it could lead to something else.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: It could lead to something else.
- 27:16Sean McAllister: It could compromise the investigation if it gets out.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: Uh, like you said, if there are deaths involved, there are people who need to be notified.
- 27:23Sean McAllister: There are policies and procedures that information needs to filter through before it can be made public.
- 27:31Sean McAllister: So, yeah, the frustration from people, like simmer and just uh freak down because it's not your place to dictate how quickly information comes out.
- 27:43Sean McAllister: Period.
- 27:44Dayna Roselli: It's not, and that's the thing.
- 27:46Dayna Roselli: If you want to say something politely, like, hey, uh uh, when do you think we know somebody?
- 27:51Sean McAllister: But it's just like then the way they get nasty, some people, you know, and like or the way it sparks conspiracy theories, like, oh, they're not telling us this because uh the X, Y, and Z.
- 28:01Sean McAllister: Like, no, yeah, there are official ways to do things and Twitter is not it.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: And like somebody I was going back and forth to someone on my Facebook going, well, what about, you know, doesn't make sense, you know, shot himself in the head and then the car exploded, and how could he do that?
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, did you not just listen to the press conference I reported?
- 28:23Dayna Roselli: Nobody wants to listen anymore.
- 28:26Dayna Roselli: Listen, take five minutes or eight minutes, I think that's how long it was, of your life and listen instead of getting on and complaining and sparking new theories.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: Listen to what they said.
- 28:39Dayna Roselli: And you know, I must say the sheriff and the FBI many times had to comment and say, we know there are theories out there, we know there's names out there, we know there's information, but we are not ready to confirm that 100%.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 28:54Dayna Roselli: Because guess what?
- 28:54Dayna Roselli: If they did and something went wrong, oh, they'd never hear the end of it.
- 28:59Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 29:00Dayna Roselli: So anyway, uh, just that's my 2025 rant soapbox.
- 29:05Sean McAllister: Well, I like it.
- 29:07Sean McAllister: I'm I'm all all in on that soapbox.
- 29:10Sean McAllister: All right.
- 29:10Sean McAllister: Well, speaking of 2025, obviously it is a new year, it's off to a start.
- 29:15Sean McAllister: Um, but this time of year, the beginning of a new year, also gives us perspective on the year that has just passed.
- 29:23Sean McAllister: And we just got some new information out um about weddings that have happened here in Las Vegas over 2024, and it was a good year for marriages in Clark County.
- 29:35Dayna Roselli: It really was, and you know, because we were the entertainment capital of the world, but also the wedding capital of the world.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: So did it hold up?
- 29:43Dayna Roselli: Yes, it did.
- 29:43Sean McAllister: It did, absolutely it did.
- 29:45Sean McAllister: Man alive.
- 29:47Dayna Roselli: 2024.
- 29:48Dayna Roselli: Um, this came in the the newsletter that we get from um the Clark County like marriage license bureau and stuff.
- 29:53Dayna Roselli: And and I just thought it was interesting.
- 29:54Dayna Roselli: Licenses were up 3.73% compared to 2023.
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: Uh, same-sex licenses were up year over year, 0.41% to 6.68%, the highest number in 10 years.
- 30:09Dayna Roselli: Love that.
- 30:10Dayna Roselli: Foreign couples were also on the rise, getting us back to normal since pre-COVID, is what the letter says.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: Um, and then they say additionally, licenses issued to couples in Nevada were up 7.8%, which is also the highest it's been in a decade.
- 30:25Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 30:26Dayna Roselli: So everyone's getting married up and down through Nevada.
- 30:29Sean McAllister: It is.
- 30:29Sean McAllister: And uh, this is coming off of uh the week that would have been Elvis' 90th birthday.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 30:37Sean McAllister: And there are also uh a group of wedding chapels that are offering a special deal for Elvis themed wedding packages in honor of what would have been his 90th birthday, and there's a whole slew of things involved, like getting your picture with a replica of the cake that Elvis and Priscilla had.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: There's a lot of things involved.
- 30:58SPEAKER_04: Your name on the marquee, all sorts of stuff.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: And if you uh want to see Sean's Elvis grooving impression, go to our Vegas Real YouTube and watch our latest TV show because um he does a really good job and it caught me by surprise.
- 31:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, my husband saw that for the first time, and he was like, What are you doing?
- 31:23Sean McAllister: What was that?
- 31:24Sean McAllister: It was good.
- 31:24Sean McAllister: Like, I don't know, it was in the moment.
- 31:26Sean McAllister: Impromptu.
- 31:27Sean McAllister: Whatever.
- 31:28Sean McAllister: It just came to me and it happened.
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:31Dayna Roselli: All right, we're the wedding capital of the world, and it looks like we're we're still going with that.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 31:35Dayna Roselli: If you want to get married in Vegas, we are a fun place to get married, however, you want to do it.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: You want to go big, you want to go small, you want to drive through, you want Elvis.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: We've got it all.
- 31:44Sean McAllister: Uh all.
- 31:44Sean McAllister: We've got it all.
- 31:46Dayna Roselli: Hey, Durango is expanding already.
- 31:48Dayna Roselli: Durango is a station casino.
- 31:51Dayna Roselli: Um, and gosh, it's in the southwest part of the valley.
- 31:53Dayna Roselli: And since the doors open, it's just been popular and busy ever since.
- 31:57Sean McAllister: Well, and you know what's funny, Dana?
- 31:59Sean McAllister: The other day you were looking at uh pictures on your computer.
- 32:02Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 32:02Sean McAllister: And you pulled up these pictures of us at the groundbreaking of uh the Durango Resort, which is in the southwest part of uh the Las Vegas Valley off the strip.
- 32:13Sean McAllister: Um, and we were thinking, we were like, how is there an entire, first of all, how is there an entire resort on this spot since these pictures were taken?
- 32:23Sean McAllister: Because it doesn't seem like that was a timeline that allows for the construction of an entire resort.
- 32:29Sean McAllister: But then how are they now expanding in their second phase of construction?
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 32:35Dayna Roselli: Like that's a thing.
- 32:36Dayna Roselli: It doesn't even make sense to me.
- 32:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I was looking at the picture I downloaded my computer when I found that it uh looks like it was created on uh three March 11th of 2022.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 32:47Dayna Roselli: We do a lot and we do it quick here in Vegas.
- 32:50Sean McAllister: Man alive.
- 32:50Sean McAllister: And it's a beautiful resort, too.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: The restaurants are great, everything about it's great.
- 32:54Dayna Roselli: Um, so I actually screenshot some of the slides they had up on their um Instagram stories that kind of give some more detail.
- 33:01Dayna Roselli: So phase two um actually just started um Monday, January 6th.
- 33:06Dayna Roselli: Um, and it will add a new parking structure with almost 2,000 parking spots, over 25,000 square feet of additional casino space, featuring a new high limit slot and bar area, offering an additional 230 slot machines.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 33:24Dayna Roselli: With 120 dedicated to the new high limit room.
- 33:27Dayna Roselli: And it will also, you know, provide obviously additional parking and some new gaming options because of that expansion.
- 33:34Dayna Roselli: Um, they plan to do this within about 12 months.
- 33:38Dayna Roselli: It'll take to complete.
- 33:40Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 33:40Dayna Roselli: Um guests can conveniently access complimentary hotel and casino valet, surface parking and north garage parking while this is going on.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: Um, will any casino entrance points be affected?
- 33:52Dayna Roselli: The south entrance will be closed during construction, but the hotel entrance and valet remain open.
- 33:58Dayna Roselli: People are asking, how can I access Summer House, one of my favorite restaurants?
- 34:02Dayna Roselli: Well, guests will still be able to access Summer House from inside the casino, because I guess you can enter from the outside too.
- 34:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 34:08Dayna Roselli: And an additional exterior entrance via the patio will be added as well.
- 34:15Dayna Roselli: So lots of different QA there, but um just don't worry, it's open and there's ways to get in and out.
- 34:21Sean McAllister: And if you are uh someone who comes and visits Las Vegas, I think it's worth a trip off the strip to head over to Durango because it is a great property.
- 34:32Dayna Roselli: It is really, really nice.
- 34:34Dayna Roselli: I you know, and sometimes we don't get down that way, and then when you do and you walk, you walk in, you're like, I need to come here.
- 34:39Sean McAllister: Why don't I come here more often?
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: All the time, I think that.
- 34:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, they've got great restaurants that have the by the way, the reservations at the restaurants over at Durango have been pretty much booked up ever since they opened.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:52Sean McAllister: I've never been over there when the casino or the restaurants were slow.
- 34:57Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 34:57Dayna Roselli: It's true.
- 34:57Dayna Roselli: I went over and oversaw that football game on.
- 34:59Dayna Roselli: It was packed, and what a vibrant crowd and so fun.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: But still, there was like room.
- 35:04Dayna Roselli: It was like a table would get up, like there was enough room for everyone, but it was still full.
- 35:10Sean McAllister: Very yeah, busy.
- 35:11Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 35:11Dayna Roselli: But they can serve you.
- 35:12Dayna Roselli: So just, you know, hang hang on.
- 35:15Dayna Roselli: Um, okay.
- 35:16Dayna Roselli: Well, we're gonna do some tips uh because Sean has a bunch of tips, uh, some things he learned over the holiday while he had company in town and was popping around to different places.
- 35:25Dayna Roselli: And we're gonna tell you about a new restaurant too.
- 35:28Dayna Roselli: So let's do it.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: Okay, we talked about caramella in our last podcast, but I just wanted to mention I did go to the opening party um and it's beautiful.
- 35:39Dayna Roselli: It's a huge space, but I wanted to mention that it's at Planet Hollywood and they do have a great patio.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: I know people love patios that overlook the strips.
- 35:47Dayna Roselli: You want your pictures, you know, you want to go out there and have a cocktail.
- 35:50Dayna Roselli: They have a great patio uh that overlooks just a prime spot right there in the center of the Las Vegas strip.
- 35:57Dayna Roselli: So Caramella uh by Tau Group and they partnered with Caesars Entertainment, is now open.
- 36:02Dayna Roselli: It's an Italian restaurant.
- 36:04Dayna Roselli: They have a really cool lounge too with some dancing and a bar and little booths.
- 36:10Dayna Roselli: They have a candy shop too with a bunch of different Italian treats.
- 36:14Dayna Roselli: It's a really unique spot, but I think it's perfect for Planet Hollywood.
- 36:18Dayna Roselli: I was there for the grand opening party and 50 Cent was there.
- 36:21Dayna Roselli: I ran into Chris Angel, and so it was nice to see everyone enjoying the new spot.
- 36:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, and if you're looking for it, uh if you walk into Planet Hollywood, you have to go up the escalators and then swing around to the left, and you'll see it straight in front of you.
- 36:36Sean McAllister: It's right by the Chris Angel Theater up there on the mezzanine level.
- 36:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 36:39Dayna Roselli: It was funny.
- 36:40Dayna Roselli: We were talking when we did our interview with Pamela Anderson.
- 36:42Dayna Roselli: We were talking about the old Planet Hollywood days.
- 36:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 36:44Dayna Roselli: Heart bar and when she was in Hans Clock, the show, and we all used to hang out at the heart bar.
- 36:50Dayna Roselli: But anyway, all right, let's get to Sean's tips now because I know you got a lot to talk about.
- 36:54Dayna Roselli: You were telling me some things casually, and I was like, wait a minute, what?
- 36:57Dayna Roselli: What?
- 36:58Dayna Roselli: Huh?
- 36:59Dayna Roselli: We need to talk about this in the podcast.
- 37:00Sean McAllister: Well, so here's the thing for the longest time, one of our tips for anyone who is just talking to us and saying, hey, we're coming into town, what should we do?
- 37:11Sean McAllister: What should we see?
- 37:12Sean McAllister: One of the things that we loved is that you could go up to the lounge at uh the stratosphere at the strat.
- 37:19Sean McAllister: You could go up to the observation level to the lounge and not have to pay the admission to the tower.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:28Sean McAllister: Which you would normally have to do if you were going up to do the rides and all that kind of thing.
- 37:32Sean McAllister: Well, that tip must have gotten really popular because now they do charge to go up.
- 37:39Sean McAllister: So you can't just go for happy hour, take in the sights anymore.
- 37:43Dayna Roselli: That's a bummer.
- 37:44Sean McAllister: I know.
- 37:45Sean McAllister: I because I took my sister over there, she was in town over the holidays, and I told her I was like, Oh, we could do happy hour up at the top of the strat.
- 37:54Sean McAllister: It's great, it's free to get up there.
- 37:56Sean McAllister: Well, it it wasn't free, and it wasn't cheap.
- 38:00Sean McAllister: It wasn't.
- 38:01Sean McAllister: No.
- 38:02Sean McAllister: So here's the deal.
- 38:04Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 38:04Dayna Roselli: Um, he's got his notepad out, everyone.
- 38:07Sean McAllister: When you go up, so with his new readers for 2025.
- 38:11Sean McAllister: The holiday season also uh brought me brought my eyesight into focus a little bit.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: Good.
- 38:18Sean McAllister: Um so now if you want to go up to uh level 108 and level 109, which are the observation decks over there at the strat, you have to pay a$20 tower admission.
- 38:32Sean McAllister: What?
- 38:33Sean McAllister: That does not include rides.
- 38:36Sean McAllister: If you want to do any rides up there, that's an add-on.
- 38:40Sean McAllister: But just to even go up, it's 20 bucks per person, which is the tower admission.
- 38:46Sean McAllister: However, they do a happy hour from three to seven where they offer two for one admission to go up, where it's ten bucks per person instead of twenty.
- 38:59SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 38:59Sean McAllister: However, we were there on a holiday, so they weren't offering the two for one admission.
- 39:06Dayna Roselli: And isn't the point of going to happy hour is to get like a deal, and then you've got to pay to go up to get your deal?
- 39:12Sean McAllister: Yeah, well, and the point of happy hour is to make you happy, and it wasn't a happy start to happy hour.
- 39:16Dayna Roselli: Wait, so this was 20 bucks.
- 39:17Dayna Roselli: There's okay, one, two, three, four.
- 39:20Dayna Roselli: Four of you.
- 39:20Dayna Roselli: So we're going 80 bucks just to get to happy hour?
- 39:24Sean McAllister: It was 80 bucks to get to happy hour.
- 39:25Dayna Roselli: This is a travesty.
- 39:26Dayna Roselli: I'm just but the parking was free.
- 39:28Sean McAllister: The parking was free, and the gates, I will say, the gates at the parking garage at Strat open automatically for you if you have Nevada plates.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, there's a bonus.
- 39:39Sean McAllister: The parking was free, and we didn't have to deal with tickets or anything like that, which there are other casino groups that could benefit from having machines like that.
- 39:47Dayna Roselli: It'd be nicer if they handed you a$20 chip on the way out to get your money back from going up in the tower.
- 39:52Sean McAllister: We would.
- 39:52Sean McAllister: We got free parking, but not free admission to the tower.
- 39:56Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 39:56Dayna Roselli: Well, you got to see the sights.
- 39:58Sean McAllister: We got to see the sights.
- 40:00Sean McAllister: We got a drink.
- 40:02Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 40:02Sean McAllister: And we probably would have stayed longer if we didn't have to pay admission.
- 40:07Sean McAllister: I'm just saying, and spent more.
- 40:09Sean McAllister: But it is what it is.
- 40:11Sean McAllister: That is the state of affairs.
- 40:13Sean McAllister: Right.
- 40:13Sean McAllister: If you want to get up, um, they have uh 108 eats up there, which is like kind of a sandwich counter where you can get um some food, some bites.
- 40:24Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 40:24Sean McAllister: For free.
- 40:26Sean McAllister: Not for free, for pay.
- 40:27Sean McAllister: Also 108 drinks.
- 40:29Sean McAllister: They have a little bar up there as well.
- 40:32Sean McAllister: So you can walk around in a circle and take in the views.
- 40:36Sean McAllister: Um also there is a level 109, there's the outside observation deck if you choose to go outside as well.
- 40:43Sean McAllister: We did not because we didn't want to get windblown.
- 40:46Dayna Roselli: Well, and you're probably grumpy from having to pay your$20.
- 40:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we're listening the strat.
- 40:54Dayna Roselli: Everyone has to charge for attractions and stuff.
- 40:56Dayna Roselli: It's the way things are, but you know, it is frustrating.
- 40:59Dayna Roselli: As locals, we do get frustrated when especially when you're like, hey, let's go up and you thought you were gonna do this great thing.
- 41:06Sean McAllister: Well, and it was it was a nice thing to be able to have to be able to go up there, especially if you're spending at the lounge for happy hour and stuff.
- 41:16Sean McAllister: I get that there's looky loss, there's people who will just go up there, take in the view and leave, but what?
- 41:22Sean McAllister: No harm, no foul at that point.
- 41:23Dayna Roselli: Well, and the strat is, you know, s at the northern part of the strips, you'd think like they need more people to like need it to be a destination, you know.
- 41:32Dayna Roselli: It's not necessarily like the most you can't you can walk there, but you know, usually you have to from another resort if you were staying somewhere else, you'd probably have toughness it for a little bit.
- 41:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, huffing it for a little bit.
- 41:42Dayna Roselli: You might take a taxi or Uber.
- 41:44Dayna Roselli: So to get people there and up there, and then to take the Uber, and then you get out, and then you gotta pay to get up to the tower, and then you gotta pay for your so like I don't know.
- 41:52Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 41:53Dayna Roselli: Well, anyway, let's move on to what you did like you did like over at the park MGM.
- 41:59Dayna Roselli: That was a in a good experience, right?
- 42:01Sean McAllister: It was.
- 42:01Sean McAllister: Eataly has just finished a renovation over there at uh park MGM.
- 42:07Sean McAllister: Eataly is that big food hall that's right on the Las Vegas, right off of the Las Vegas strip.
- 42:14Sean McAllister: Um, it's got different food halls.
- 42:16Dayna Roselli: Can I just say who pays to go to happy hour?
- 42:19Dayna Roselli: Well sorry, no, not saying you're I'm just like, where is this concept coming from?
- 42:24Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 42:25Dayna Roselli: Okay, sorry.
- 42:26Sean McAllister: Well, I listen, I'm not I am not going back to places where I have to pay for happy hour, and I'll just leave that there.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: Back to Italy.
- 42:34SPEAKER_04: Yes, so they've expanded.
- 42:35Sean McAllister: They've expanded.
- 42:37Sean McAllister: Um, so they now have what's called Italy Bar.
- 42:42Sean McAllister: If you had been over there before, there was kind of a little uh wine marketplace.
- 42:47Sean McAllister: If you're walking in from the strip, off to the left, uh there was a wine marketplace.
- 42:53Sean McAllister: It had a little patio.
- 42:54Sean McAllister: It was a really cute area.
- 42:56Sean McAllister: Um, kind of closed off a little bit from the rest of Italy.
- 43:01Sean McAllister: So I always loved it because when the rest of the tables were packed, there were always tables over in this little area.
- 43:07Sean McAllister: Well, it was redone and uh kind of it, it felt like they expanded it a little bit.
- 43:15Sean McAllister: Um, they've moved moved around some of the food stations.
- 43:18Sean McAllister: There's pasta stations, pizza stations, uh meat carving stations, all that kind of stuff.
- 43:24Sean McAllister: So you can get a really unique meal from all of those.
- 43:28Sean McAllister: But this Italy bar that is opened up is really nice.
- 43:33Sean McAllister: Uh really nice and open.
- 43:35Sean McAllister: They have like orange trees that they put in there, and it looked like the patio space.
- 43:42Sean McAllister: Uh that's still there.
- 43:43Sean McAllister: There were people sitting out there enjoying their meals out on the the patio that kind of goes along that um road that leads you back to T Mobile Arena.
- 43:53Sean McAllister: Um but I just wanted to let you know these areas are open.
- 43:57Sean McAllister: Um, there's a new pizza county.
- 44:00Sean McAllister: That's also open over there as well.
- 44:02Dayna Roselli: Um I think they sent us some pictures and rendering.
- 44:05Dayna Roselli: So I'll put it in the TV show soon, too.
- 44:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 44:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 44:08Dayna Roselli: To show people what it looks like as well.
- 44:10Dayna Roselli: But yeah, I know you love it there and you always have.
- 44:12Dayna Roselli: So I'm glad that they uh actually added something new there for you as a regular.
- 44:17Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was great.
- 44:18Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 44:18Sean McAllister: It was great.
- 44:19Sean McAllister: I love it.
- 44:19Dayna Roselli: So yeah, it is a fun place.
- 44:20Dayna Roselli: And it's it's just cool and a different experience.
- 44:22Dayna Roselli: I feel like sometimes people don't know what's there.
- 44:24Dayna Roselli: So it's good to let people know that Eataly exists here in Las Vegas, not just in New York City.
- 44:29Sean McAllister: And by the way, uh, you used to so our strategy when we used to go to Eatly is have someone grab a table and sit there, and then you go up and order for them at whatever food station they want.
- 44:42Sean McAllister: Because tables can be hard to find if it's a busy time.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:46Sean McAllister: Uh well now you can scan a QR code and order right from your table.
- 44:52Sean McAllister: And then you get a notification when your food is ready, and then you still have to go and pick it up from whatever food station you're ordering from.
- 45:00Sean McAllister: But it allows for you know, you just scan the code, order at your table, hang out until your food's ready, and then bring it back to the table.
- 45:08Dayna Roselli: Great.
- 45:09Sean McAllister: So that's really convenient.
- 45:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 45:10Dayna Roselli: And Park MGM is a no-smoking hotel casino.
- 45:14Sean McAllister: I really like MG.
- 45:14Dayna Roselli: If you prefer that, yeah, as well.
- 45:16Dayna Roselli: You have choice, you know.
- 45:17Sean McAllister: Easy to get in and out, super helpful staff.
- 45:21Sean McAllister: I like Park MGM a lot.
- 45:24Dayna Roselli: Good updates, good tips.
- 45:25Dayna Roselli: Happy New Year, everyone.
- 45:27Dayna Roselli: Um, we hope that uh we have a lot of new things to talk about this year.
- 45:32Dayna Roselli: I feel like last year so much was open, so much happened.
- 45:35Dayna Roselli: We had the Super Bowl.
- 45:37Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was quite a year, and I'm excited to see what this year will bring as well.
- 45:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, there are certain things that we know are happening, but then I feel like sometimes things we're like, oh, wow.
- 45:48Dayna Roselli: Didn't expect that.
- 45:49Sean McAllister: Or well, I think talking with some uh colleagues who are in the know about some of the projects that you know, some of the big projects that are in the works here in Las Vegas, it sounds like 2025 is gonna keep keep rolling with that all-in theme that we saw in 2024.
- 46:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 46:11Dayna Roselli: It's interesting.
- 46:12Dayna Roselli: Um, even when we were again back to the last showgirl movie and Pamela Anderson, you know, they pointed out, I think it was they were talking about in the QA, and then also when we were talking to her in person, because I said, when did this movie like supposed to take place?
- 46:24Dayna Roselli: And they said, Well, like around 2016, because it's kind of like when Jubilee closed at Baileys.
- 46:29Dayna Roselli: Um, but it was but but and then they were the referred to it as it was before the sphere.
- 46:35Sean McAllister: Yes, you know before the sphere era of the city.
- 46:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 46:38Dayna Roselli: So I thought that was interesting, but you know, pre-sphere.
- 46:41Dayna Roselli: Um, but you know, and they did make uh a comment that you know it's a it's amazing that we have the sphere and all this new exciting entertainment, but maybe you know, maybe we do need to keep our eye out and keep the focus on also what Vegas was built on and find a way to bring that back in maybe a different kind of special way.
- 47:02Dayna Roselli: So I don't know, it does make you think.
- 47:04Sean McAllister: It does.
- 47:05Sean McAllister: I it would make me more than happy to see a Showgirl review uh revived on the strip.
- 47:14Sean McAllister: I know that they're big casts, I know that they're big productions, but I feel like this day and age there's gotta be ways to make it happen.
- 47:24Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 47:24Dayna Roselli: I feel like mix in maybe some classic old school with the new school.
- 47:30Dayna Roselli: Yes, but still have the costumes and the similar types of I don't want to say simple numbers because you're carrying those headdresses and but you know the moves might be similar.
- 47:40Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 47:41Sean McAllister: It's classic, yeah.
- 47:42Dayna Roselli: It you know, and and and and they did point out how different the show girl is from burlesque.
- 47:47Dayna Roselli: Correct.
- 47:48Dayna Roselli: Burlesque is not the same thing, and I you know that was interesting to me, and I'm going, oh, really?
- 47:51Dayna Roselli: They're like two completely different things.
- 47:52Dayna Roselli: And I know that they talked with Dita Vantees about some different things and choreography, and and and she helped kind of clarify the difference and stuff for them.
- 48:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, she also helped uh bring some of those costumes to the production, made some connections and you know, helped make sure that that was possible.
- 48:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 48:11Dayna Roselli: Really interesting.
- 48:12Dayna Roselli: Okay, well, happy new year.
- 48:13Dayna Roselli: We've got a lot to talk about next week, too.
- 48:15Dayna Roselli: So uh we hope you enjoyed our first episode of season six.
- 48:19Dayna Roselli: We are back, Dana, Sean, Vegas Revealed, and I as I as I promised, let's roll that blooper.
- 48:26Sean McAllister: Enjoy.
- 48:27Sean McAllister: Have a great week.
- 48:30Dayna Roselli: It's episode 253 of Vegas Revealed.
- 48:34Dayna Roselli: Yes, the start of season six.
- 48:37Sean McAllister: We head to Janet Jackson's new show over at Resorts World, and you still have time to see her coming up in February.
- 48:44Sean McAllister: Oh my god.
- 48:49Sean McAllister: I was too ambitious in 2025.
- 48:51SPEAKER_04: Oh my god, that's so funny.
- 48:56Sean McAllister: One breath doesn't cut it anymore.
- 48:58Sean McAllister: Oh my god.
- 48:59Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 48:59Sean McAllister: All right.
- 49:00Sean McAllister: Here, wait, let me just
