Latest / Fandomonium! A Fandom Comedy Game Show / Bonus Round - We Did a Live Show!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I want to talk about the live show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Yes, this is our first bonus round since we did
- 0:05Speaker 2: the live show.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 0:06Speaker 2: That feels wild. It feels like it was a while ago.
- 0:09Speaker 2: But it was only four weeks ago.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Ooh, it was only four weeks ago. It feels like
- 0:16Speaker 1: a lifetime ago. And also just yesterday.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Time flies when you're having fun. It was genuinely such
- 0:22Speaker 2: a fun night. Yes, such a cool experience. I feel
- 0:26Speaker 2: like we've recorded so many of these episodes of Pandemonium
- 0:30Speaker 2: and in the room we have a fucking blast. Oh yeah,
- 0:35Speaker 2: always like the.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Energy of recording with the amazing people that we have
- 0:40Speaker 1: met has always been so much fun.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yeah. We told all the time about how every episode
- 0:47Speaker 2: is fun. It's just to what degree of like, oh
- 0:50Speaker 2: that was a great time. Oh that was a really
- 0:52Speaker 2: great time.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yes? And is it mostly fun because it's in the
- 0:57Speaker 1: podcast format, So it's fun for us in the moment,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and it would be fun if you're doing dishes and
- 1:03Speaker 1: listening to it, or driving in the car and listening
- 1:05Speaker 1: to it. But would it be fun as a live show?
- 1:09Speaker 2: This was the test.
- 1:10Speaker 1: This was the test answer. Yes, yes, conclusive. It was
- 1:16Speaker 1: fun for us, It was fun for our wonderful guests.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It was fun for people who'd listened to gateleap as before.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It was fun for people who'd never consumed any of
- 1:24Speaker 1: our podcasts before success. I cannot think of another demographic
- 1:30Speaker 1: that I want to have fun with this stay at
- 1:32Speaker 1: home moms.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Only other No, I've she start appealing to the stay
- 1:38Speaker 2: at home moms.
- 1:39Speaker 1: No, I feel like they're reflected in the other groups.
- 1:41Speaker 2: That's true. Yeah, yeah, a Mom Talk episode. Write it down,
- 1:46Speaker 2: the fandom of mom, I'll write it down. Oh, it
- 1:50Speaker 2: was such a great night that I don't think would
- 1:54Speaker 2: have happened without all of the people involved. So I
- 1:58Speaker 2: really want to say thank you to every one who
- 2:01Speaker 2: helped contribute over the years to leaders to this position.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It feels it does feel like we're sucking someone's dick.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Well, how about ours? How about we suck everyone's dick
- 2:11Speaker 2: and then and then it's not any one person being related.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I was gonna say focused on, but you saw the
- 2:20Speaker 2: f forming in my mouth.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I did. I did focused on? Yeah, yeah, I can
- 2:27Speaker 1: bring it out of a sexual metaphor. I'm capable of that.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You're capable of that. At nine minutes past three on
- 2:35Speaker 2: a Tuesday afternoon, what have I become so up top?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Thank you to the Peak and Prop Theater for hosting us. Yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 2: I think it's fair to say these live shows wouldn't
- 2:45Speaker 2: have happened so fast, so soon if the Peak in
- 2:50Speaker 2: Prov Theater didn't exist and didn't exist around the corner
- 2:53Speaker 2: from us, right in our neighborhood. Yes, it's just been
- 2:56Speaker 2: the perfect place for us at the perfect time, where
- 3:00Speaker 2: just at the point where we were like, how else
- 3:02Speaker 2: can we evolve this beyond a podcast? And I'd always
- 3:06Speaker 2: envisioned it as a live show, because I'd envisioned it
- 3:09Speaker 2: as like a live stream, and we'd experimented with that,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but a lot of effort goes into that. Almost the
- 3:15Speaker 2: same amount of effort went into the live stream as
- 3:17Speaker 2: prepping for the live show, and one of them has
- 3:20Speaker 2: much more tangible effects and interactions. I mean, I'm hoping
- 3:25Speaker 2: we can live stream some of the live shows eventually,
- 3:28Speaker 2: but that's an interesting production note that I'm now realizing
- 3:32Speaker 2: in real time. Yes, anyway, we were wondering which direction
- 3:36Speaker 2: to take it in, and more live streams seem to
- 3:39Speaker 2: be the answer. And then Improv Theater, a comedy theater
- 3:43Speaker 2: upened around the corner from us, and we were like, okay,
- 3:46Speaker 2: this is a place that we could probably perform that,
- 3:49Speaker 2: and then we quickly realized, oh, we need to learn
- 3:52Speaker 2: some skills, We need to acquire some improv skills, We
- 3:55Speaker 2: need to acquire some hosting skills in a live environment.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yes, because doing this behind a microphone in progressively less
- 4:04Speaker 1: weird parts of your house is it does not prepare
- 4:08Speaker 1: you to be on a stage in front of a
- 4:10Speaker 1: bunch of people.
- 4:11Speaker 2: No.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Surprisingly, recording a podcast like behind our sofa because that's
- 4:17Speaker 1: where the sound was best, and then into a basement,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and then into an office at no point in that growth, which.
- 4:27Speaker 2: It is growth, well it's literally moving up through the house.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yes, at no point in time was a live audience
- 4:36Speaker 1: prepared for No. So it's been cool to be able
- 4:40Speaker 1: to learn those skills and then be able to use them.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah. At the moment that we felt ready and it
- 4:46Speaker 2: felt right, we booked the live show. We did the
- 4:49Speaker 2: live show. It was a blast. So yeah, that wouldn't
- 4:52Speaker 2: have happened without the Peak Improv Theater. And thank you
- 4:55Speaker 2: to Ethan Goldman, who has taught us a bunch of
- 4:58Speaker 2: improv yes, and is one of the co owners at
- 5:02Speaker 2: the Peacon prof Theata who kind of believed in the
- 5:05Speaker 2: show we had and let.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Us book it.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Let us book it, and he helped out with the
- 5:09Speaker 2: tech as well on the night for the live show,
- 5:11Speaker 2: So that was great.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Huge thanks to him for not being on that first
- 5:16Speaker 1: panel on the show because we did need him as support.
- 5:20Speaker 2: We needed him as like, you are in control of
- 5:23Speaker 2: the building. Everything is going fine.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yes, we're not gonna somehow burn down the building by
- 5:28Speaker 1: doing accidentally weird podcasting.
- 5:31Speaker 2: That's what some of the anxiety dreams were about.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and we him being there helped to soothe all
- 5:38Speaker 1: of those worries.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Oh, we were so soothed. And we'll have to get
- 5:42Speaker 2: Ethan on a live panel now that we've tore off
- 5:45Speaker 2: the band aid. Yes, I'd love to have Ethan up
- 5:48Speaker 2: there playing the games with us.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yes, now that we know that there's no portion of
- 5:52Speaker 1: our podcast that is flammable.
- 5:56Speaker 2: There's still time we can still make this flammable.
- 5:58Speaker 1: The beacons are lit.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Speaking of co owners, at the Peak Improv the ITA,
- 6:04Speaker 2: we had one of them up on stage with us
- 6:06Speaker 2: in the form of Casey Dean phrase we did stand
- 6:10Speaker 2: up comedian improviser m just I mean if you are
- 6:15Speaker 2: on our Patreon and you've already seen the video or
- 6:17Speaker 2: you were there for the live show. You know how
- 6:19Speaker 2: much energy Casey has. He added so much to our
- 6:24Speaker 2: live show. I think that without him gifting us with
- 6:28Speaker 2: all of the with all of his energy and with
- 6:33Speaker 2: an excellent amount of callbacks, yes, very comedy, brain on
- 6:38Speaker 2: all the way through, just just fantastic stuff. Without that,
- 6:41Speaker 2: it wouldn't have been as good. He really enhanced our
- 6:44Speaker 2: live show.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yes, agreed. And I've taken Casey's classes improv one oh
- 6:50Speaker 1: one and stand up, and in those areas he's in
- 6:54Speaker 1: very much so teacher mode of like, Okay, we're gonna
- 6:58Speaker 1: run these exercises, you're gonna get on stage, tell the jokes,
- 7:01Speaker 1: here's the feedback type of things. But just to get
- 7:05Speaker 1: to see him enjoy being funny in the space and us. Oh,
- 7:12Speaker 1: I almost spoiled if we won our last.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Oh that's right, the audio of the live show on
- 7:18Speaker 2: the free feed that you may well be listening to
- 7:20Speaker 2: this on right now. Next week we are dropping the
- 7:22Speaker 2: audio from our debut live show, the thing that we're
- 7:25Speaker 2: talking about right now.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yes, so we either won or lost, but whatever happened,
- 7:31Speaker 1: it was so cool to be able to do it
- 7:33Speaker 1: alongside such a funny person who's taught me some comedy.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so thank you, Casey. And on the opposite team,
- 7:41Speaker 2: on the opposite side of things, someone who we knew
- 7:43Speaker 2: we wanted to book for our live show immediately because
- 7:47Speaker 2: she understands kind of all the panel show, comedy, light
- 7:51Speaker 2: entertainment format things. Julia Bosi.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yes, Julia is a fucking treasure. She is, and I
- 7:59Speaker 1: think that is Yeah, that is how I want to start.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Julia is a treasure and also a different energy to Casey,
- 8:07Speaker 1: but also the exact correct energy for this first show.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I liked that Julia got a little tipsy and that
- 8:13Speaker 2: that was a part of jazz performance there. That was
- 8:16Speaker 2: because I've seen Julia perform very sensible, very cerebral, thoughtful
- 8:24Speaker 2: improv in the form of musical improv and the stick horses.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Keeping it family friendly for stick horses, and then the
- 8:33Speaker 1: like three syllable rhymes that it seems like Julia can
- 8:38Speaker 1: pull out of nowhere for two Titans, and just to
- 8:42Speaker 1: have Julia Lucy goosey.
- 8:46Speaker 2: It was a great vibe. I loved it so much.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yes, we had such a fun little back and forth rivalry,
- 8:53Speaker 1: ultimately turning on Matt of course, as all the best
- 8:57Speaker 1: and most fun episodes of Pandemonium, You're the villain, and
- 9:02Speaker 1: I think that that held true.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It's right there in the format at the top, I
- 9:06Speaker 2: declare myself the villain and we go from there. To
- 9:08Speaker 2: be honest, the episodes, I don't end up being the villain.
- 9:11Speaker 2: They failed. It was so great having two members of
- 9:16Speaker 2: the comedy community that we've been able to become a
- 9:19Speaker 2: part of here in the Springs up there on stage
- 9:22Speaker 2: with us that I can't wait for future shows to
- 9:24Speaker 2: perform with other members of the community and have a
- 9:28Speaker 2: fun time, because yes, we are planning on doing more
- 9:32Speaker 2: live shows. That's happening. What news what? I just dropped
- 9:36Speaker 2: a news bomb.
- 9:37Speaker 1: You picked this moment to tell.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Me yep, this is Look, it's only the super fans
- 9:42Speaker 2: who listened to Bonus Round.
- 9:44Speaker 1: That's me. I'm a super fan.
- 9:46Speaker 2: People listen to Pandemonium, people listen to Press Play, and
- 9:50Speaker 2: then only the real hardcore contingent go on that fourth
- 9:53Speaker 2: Thursday and go, yes, I'm going to listen to all
- 9:56Speaker 2: of their meta chat mm hmm to them just talking
- 9:59Speaker 2: shit about this podcast.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'm so much of a super fan that I make
- 10:03Speaker 1: this podcast.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yes, that's how big of a fan you are. So yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 2: we're planning on doing two more live shows this year,
- 10:12Speaker 2: one in August that we will announce a date for
- 10:15Speaker 2: very soon, and another in November, and then, with any luck,
- 10:20Speaker 2: the plan is to run a monthly show from twenty
- 10:24Speaker 2: twenty six, but we'll put a pin in that for
- 10:27Speaker 2: now and we'll come back to that later. We're gonna
- 10:30Speaker 2: do another couple live shows this year.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We'll have updates as we know, dates etc. On the
- 10:37Speaker 1: podcast as well, but you can go ahead and follow
- 10:39Speaker 1: us on Instagram at gateleepers Pod. We will have information
- 10:44Speaker 1: on live shows up there. And I know sometimes when
- 10:46Speaker 1: you're like what date was that, it's a little bit
- 10:49Speaker 1: easier to open Instagram than to scroll through a podcast.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh for sure, And so go follow us gateleepers Pod
- 10:56Speaker 1: on Instagram.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yes, I imagine that'll be the place we'll break the
- 11:00Speaker 2: news of the of the date, breaking news break. I
- 11:04Speaker 2: just broke the news, but you know, breaking the next news.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Oh god, a constant set of breaking news.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Wow, we need to clean up on asle news.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Get it out.
- 11:16Speaker 2: But of course it wasn't just the four of us
- 11:18Speaker 2: up there on stage. We also had our og captain,
- 11:23Speaker 2: the guy who's been with us since the very beginning. Yes,
- 11:26Speaker 2: the gate Leaper's original, the Drinkipedia originally, Yes, Jason Winn. Jason.
- 11:31Speaker 2: We couldn't have done that first live show without you.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Of course not. It was so cool that, like any
- 11:38Speaker 1: nerves I had, be like, oh, we're going to do this. Yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 1: it being like, Okay, it's Matt and Jason, the three
- 11:44Speaker 1: of us together.
- 11:45Speaker 2: We've been doing this since December twenty eighteen.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Oh, we've been doing this for a long old time.
- 11:52Speaker 2: For a long time, and look how far we've come.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Look at the evolution. Look like you mentioned earlier recording
- 11:57Speaker 2: next to a sofa, because the soundproofing is right the
- 12:03Speaker 2: way through to being up there on stage with MIC's
- 12:06Speaker 2: in our faces and live audience feedback.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yes, it was really really fun to be like, Okay,
- 12:12Speaker 1: we've been we've worked really hard on this type of
- 12:16Speaker 1: format and it really works, and we got to show
- 12:20Speaker 1: it off, show.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Off our wares, show off our wares, and yeah, to
- 12:24Speaker 2: do that as our trio of podcasters, the three of
- 12:29Speaker 2: us who honed this format through the rough years of
- 12:32Speaker 2: Year one. Don't listen to year one of gate Leapers.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Don't listen to year one.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Maybe start with year two. If you've gotten into us
- 12:39Speaker 2: recently and you think, oh, next time I need to
- 12:42Speaker 2: binge something, I'm going to binge their podcast, start with
- 12:45Speaker 2: you two. I reckon.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Honestly, I might d list. I might delist year one.
- 12:51Speaker 1: That way we can repeat the fandoms in the games
- 12:56Speaker 1: a peek behind the curtain.
- 12:57Speaker 2: They may go behind the Patreon wall very soon.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Also, on the day we had Jen, Oh.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I can't talk enough about all the ways Jen helped
- 13:06Speaker 2: on the day live producer mm hmm.
- 13:09Speaker 1: She was making sure everyone was where they needed to
- 13:12Speaker 1: be and all the props were where they needed to
- 13:14Speaker 1: be and how are you feeling? And she was so
- 13:18Speaker 1: helpful and so also calming of like you got it.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I don't know if it was something she did intentionally,
- 13:26Speaker 2: but one of my concerns going in was like, oh,
- 13:28Speaker 2: there is an intermission, and that's ten minutes where I'm
- 13:31Speaker 2: going to be potentially in my own head with nothing
- 13:34Speaker 2: to do and off the rails of this thing. But
- 13:37Speaker 2: back in the green room, Jen was just like engaging
- 13:40Speaker 2: my brain of just like conversation and talking about things
- 13:44Speaker 2: that before I knew it. It was time to go
- 13:46Speaker 2: back out on stage.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Uh huh, and like coming back highlighting things that went well,
- 13:51Speaker 1: like things to do in the next half, and just
- 13:55Speaker 1: making sure that we stayed on. Yes, that was it,
- 13:58Speaker 1: and like ready to entertain people because people paid money
- 14:01Speaker 1: to come see us, and so you want to entertain them.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's a big part of the deal. You
- 14:07Speaker 2: want it to be a show for people.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Not just having stupid because we always have scoop, but
- 14:13Speaker 2: that's a guarantee that's going to happen.
- 14:16Speaker 1: That's a gate leapers, seal of approval, Seal of approval.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Jen and Chris also both kept the scores. So thank
- 14:23Speaker 2: you Jen, Thank you Chris. Couldn't have done it without you.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I mean that for the support over the years and
- 14:29Speaker 2: appearances as well as they're on the night mm hmm.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Someone else who was there on the night, unbelievably so,
- 14:36Speaker 1: Ben Robinson. Ben Robinson of this parish, Yes of this
- 14:42Speaker 1: parents from California came out to see the live show
- 14:47Speaker 1: and just hang out with us for the weekend. It
- 14:49Speaker 1: was so much fun.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Such a fun time, such a good time getting to
- 14:53Speaker 2: hang out with Ben in person. Irl in the flesh.
- 14:56Speaker 1: The first person from from gate Leapers from eating all
- 15:00Speaker 1: of these incredible people on the internet that we've met
- 15:04Speaker 1: in person.
- 15:05Speaker 2: And it won't even be the last this year.
- 15:08Speaker 1: What a joy.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you Ben so much for taking the time
- 15:11Speaker 2: to travel out for making the T shirt that you made,
- 15:15Speaker 2: which I guess is the first official piece of gate
- 15:18Speaker 2: Leaper's merch. We probably need to get on it at
- 15:21Speaker 2: some point, and maybe we will for live shows. Maybe
- 15:24Speaker 2: we'll have a little little something start with, like pins
- 15:28Speaker 2: all or something.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yes, something something small, yeah, something small and manageable. We've
- 15:34Speaker 1: grown so much in this past year or two. Maybe
- 15:38Speaker 1: we'll do merch that.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Surely merches on the horizon. Surely, surely, sure really, surely, surely,
- 15:48Speaker 2: charily surely. So thank you.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Ben, Thank you Ben. Surely this bit will end and
- 15:59Speaker 1: we're going to do it.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna do it again. We'll announce dates for
- 16:03Speaker 2: the next live show very soon. Thank you to everyone
- 16:06Speaker 2: who made this happen. Looking forward to the future and
- 16:09Speaker 2: very excited for the next six months and then the
- 16:13Speaker 2: next year after that and then who knows.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Time.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Time is powerful.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Speaking of time, did we spend the first huge chunk
- 16:23Speaker 1: of this part, just like last month, Just like last month,
- 16:27Speaker 1: just talking shit about.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Us, all right, because we know it's happened this time,
- 16:31Speaker 2: and last time we weren't as fully aware of it,
- 16:34Speaker 2: at least from a production standpoint. I'm going to tell
- 16:37Speaker 2: future me, roll some ads and we'll be back in
- 16:40Speaker 2: a couple of minutes.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Now this month on Bonus Round, I do not have
- 16:47Speaker 1: any muses to read off. Oh oh well, but what
- 16:51Speaker 1: I do have is a comment on our Patreon from
- 16:55Speaker 1: Kristin Farley, who says that there is an excellent documentary
- 17:00Speaker 1: about Pangolins on Netflix.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Oh yes, this was underneath the press play Pokemon the
- 17:06Speaker 2: First movie episode. Yeah, where I believe within this sand
- 17:11Speaker 2: slash and there's the in that game we try and
- 17:14Speaker 2: figure out what sand slash is.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yes, Pengolin, panglin. But this has inspired me with this segment.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Oh, thank you Kristen for inspiring Udra.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Thank you. You can either send in a muse with
- 17:30Speaker 1: a stage direction standard standard, what is inspiring you about
- 17:35Speaker 1: the fandoms that we have had games about, but also
- 17:39Speaker 1: if there is a niche thing that you are into
- 17:43Speaker 1: that you want to tell us about that we don't
- 17:45Speaker 1: have an episode of gate Leapers about we don't have
- 17:48Speaker 1: a press play or a Pandemonium about Pengolins or any
- 17:53Speaker 1: documentaries on Netflix. If there is something that is very
- 17:57Speaker 1: niche and very specific that you're like, they will probably
- 18:01Speaker 1: not highlight this fandom. Send that to me.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I'll love this. This is great, this is excellent. Okay,
- 18:10Speaker 2: So for let's use Kristen's inspirational comment here as example.
- 18:15Speaker 2: If you were like, oh, I love Pangolins so much,
- 18:18Speaker 2: they would send an email in saying that they love
- 18:21Speaker 2: Panglin so much, why they love Panglin so much, and
- 18:24Speaker 2: then make the case for doing a Pangolin episode of Pandemonium. Yes,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I love.
- 18:30Speaker 1: That, Yes, please send those to me, because I do
- 18:34Speaker 1: love hearing about about very niche specific fandoms me too,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and people being excited about a fandom is sometimes the
- 18:42Speaker 1: most exciting thing about it. So send those in to me.
- 18:45Speaker 1: I'll read them out and maybe someone who's listening to
- 18:48Speaker 1: this will also really like the sound of that specific fandom.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I Yeah, this is this is great because there are
- 18:56Speaker 2: the niche media properties that are like I love this
- 19:00Speaker 2: film and I've watched it two hundred times kind of thing.
- 19:03Speaker 2: But it's just a standalone film. Yes, there's the TV
- 19:06Speaker 2: series that aren't part of like a wider franchise or
- 19:10Speaker 2: network of things. Yeah, classics, the cult hits. Yes, you've
- 19:15Speaker 2: got musicians. That's a big thing.
- 19:18Speaker 1: That's a big thing, like a YouTube series that only
- 19:21Speaker 1: you seem like. Other people are definitely watching this because
- 19:25Speaker 1: I see the views. Yes, but I don't think this
- 19:29Speaker 1: is gonna be big enough to do a whole pandemonium on.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Try us, try us, Yeah, make the case for it. Okay,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I love this idea so much that I think, Yeah,
- 19:40Speaker 2: I think we'll gather up a bunch of them, wait
- 19:43Speaker 2: until we've got a nice collection, and I'll add them
- 19:46Speaker 2: to a should we do it drink Apedia style and
- 19:48Speaker 2: draw from a hat? Ooh, I like that, bring back
- 19:52Speaker 2: an old school format point. And then maybe once or
- 19:56Speaker 2: twice a year we do one of these really niche yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: because look, if we're fortunate enough to do a bunch
- 20:02Speaker 2: more live shows, we will do quite broad fandoms. We
- 20:05Speaker 2: will revisit some classic big hitters. I think it'd be
- 20:09Speaker 2: really nice to do some niche things over these next
- 20:11Speaker 2: eighteen months.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Ooh, very niche episodes or even ones if there's a
- 20:17Speaker 1: few that may have some overlapping. People who are interested
- 20:20Speaker 1: in it, do a round a piece.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Oh I love that. Okay, Okay, I like that. Way
- 20:26Speaker 2: you become an expert for one round, but then you're
- 20:29Speaker 2: completely guessing for three rounds.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 20:32Speaker 2: That's fun. Okay. I like these ideas. But to make
- 20:35Speaker 2: these ideas happen, we do need suggestions, So send those
- 20:39Speaker 2: in to gate Leapers at gmail dot com and Audro
- 20:42Speaker 2: will read them out in the mailbag segment on the
- 20:45Speaker 2: next bonus round.
- 20:46Speaker 1: But if you don't mind, I have a winning streak
- 20:49Speaker 1: to return to in Matt versus Odra. Watch out for
- 20:55Speaker 1: my villain Era.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Don't mess with the games Master, Captain power up. I'm
- 21:00Speaker 2: going to score all the points.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Passing knowledge was enough.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to your doom.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I just hope we have a lot of fun.
- 21:09Speaker 2: And ignore this sentence. If you're a goddamn Lisa, you're
- 21:13Speaker 2: going down.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I want to fight. So we are joined again joyously
- 21:22Speaker 1: by Aaron Randolph of b F Y T W.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Joy Joy, Joy, spreading it everywhere. That's how I roll
- 21:33Speaker 3: ropy Jets of joy everywhere, go everywhere everywhere. That's just
- 21:41Speaker 3: like compliments.
- 21:43Speaker 2: What's all of this joy on my face.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Enjoy it, sir. So Hi guys, how are you hello?
- 21:53Speaker 2: Doing goods? How are you?
- 21:56Speaker 3: I'm good? I'm good. I just wanted a touch base.
- 21:58Speaker 3: We're halfway through the year. It's been, it's been. It's
- 22:03Speaker 3: been up and down. More up for Odra, more down
- 22:06Speaker 3: for Mat. But given that she has won four times
- 22:10Speaker 3: to your two, Matt, how are you feeling with six
- 22:13Speaker 3: games left to go?
- 22:15Speaker 2: I'm not feeling great. I've started to put the numbers
- 22:19Speaker 2: together of we're halfway through this competition and I am
- 22:22Speaker 2: behind by two, which, if we're talking fractions and percentages,
- 22:26Speaker 2: it's not good at this stage of the year. Yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 2: in midsummer.
- 22:30Speaker 3: I mean, look at it this way. To draw even
- 22:32Speaker 3: by the end of the year, you need to win
- 22:34Speaker 3: four out of the remaining six.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Yes, which is doable. Odra has already done it, so
- 22:40Speaker 2: it's true. It's proof that it's it's attainable.
- 22:43Speaker 3: It can be done.
- 22:44Speaker 2: But I just fear that my skills and capabilities are
- 22:48Speaker 2: not quite as strong as Audra's. In the year of
- 22:51Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. However, I will say I do have
- 22:56Speaker 2: one more comeback attempt in me. I know the last
- 22:59Speaker 2: comeback streak was broken a little early. I do, I
- 23:02Speaker 2: do think I have one more push, So I'm I'm
- 23:05Speaker 2: in it to win it today. I'm locked in perfect.
- 23:08Speaker 2: That's that's how.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I'm excited to hear that and adra two games in
- 23:12Speaker 3: the lead. You're you're, you're smooth sailing so far. How
- 23:17Speaker 3: does it feel being out in front?
- 23:19Speaker 1: It feels so wonderful, Like it's just such a beautiful
- 23:26Speaker 1: opportunity to practice my humility. And I think that's like
- 23:30Speaker 1: a wonderful opportunity for me and I just I just
- 23:34Speaker 1: think that everything is a chance to.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Grow and yeah, yeah, so humble.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I'm just so grateful for that in this moment being
- 23:46Speaker 1: four to two, that's fantastic petition.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I completely understand and agree. Uh And for those
- 23:53Speaker 3: of you who are listening to the free version of this, uh,
- 23:56Speaker 3: this is all the excuse you need to join the
- 23:58Speaker 3: Gate labors Patreon because you'll get to see video and
- 24:02Speaker 3: Matt's face throughout that entire exchange was priceless.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Patreon dot com fowards slash, so thank you for me.
- 24:09Speaker 1: You can see me unsuccessfully.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Flip my hand.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I wasn't gonna say anything. I thought it was gonna
- 24:18Speaker 3: go over your shoulder. But then it dropped right back.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It came right back.
- 24:26Speaker 3: All right, Well, shall we get to it. It's time
- 24:29Speaker 3: for another game. Let's do it, and I'm bringing back
- 24:32Speaker 3: another classic. This is wipe Out. This is a game
- 24:37Speaker 3: show from nineteen ninety one. It lasted for exactly one season,
- 24:42Speaker 3: so let that be what it will. However, it was
- 24:45Speaker 3: popular enough at least for a while, to gain an
- 24:48Speaker 3: actual like PC game version, like you can buy the
- 24:53Speaker 3: actual PC version of this. I think nineteen ninety one
- 24:55Speaker 3: is actually too far ahead. I think this was nineteen
- 24:57Speaker 3: ninety eight, or sorry, nineteen eighty eight, excuse wow, because
- 25:01Speaker 3: that would have been around the time the game tech
- 25:04Speaker 3: game show Doss games came out and wipe Out was
- 25:07Speaker 3: one of them. And I actually owned that PC game
- 25:10Speaker 3: and I played it on my dad's computer NonStop until
- 25:13Speaker 3: I wore the questions out. Like I loved this game.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I loved this format, so I wanted to share it because,
- 25:20Speaker 3: like I said, it didn't survive on TV for very long,
- 25:22Speaker 3: and I think that's a shame. I think it's a
- 25:24Speaker 3: great game format.
- 25:25Speaker 2: And no one's gonna come for us. No one's gonna
- 25:27Speaker 2: see us.
- 25:28Speaker 3: No hopefully hopefully not. I can't imagine why it's thirty
- 25:33Speaker 3: years old. Plus you know, I'm pretty sure anyone who
- 25:37Speaker 3: owns the rights is already dead. But let's move how
- 25:40Speaker 3: the game works. So there's gonna be two rounds of
- 25:43Speaker 3: actual play. So the first round is typically between three players.
- 25:48Speaker 3: There's a board of sixteen screens, and behind each one
- 25:51Speaker 3: is going to be an answer. There's gonna be eleven
- 25:54Speaker 3: correct answers and five incorrect answers. Your goal is to
- 25:57Speaker 3: get as many correct answers as you can and build
- 26:01Speaker 3: your bank up and up and up as much as
- 26:03Speaker 3: you can to try and have the most money by
- 26:07Speaker 3: the time the round ends. And the round ends when
- 26:09Speaker 3: either the last correct answer has been picked or the
- 26:12Speaker 3: last wrong answer has been picked. Now, because hitting a
- 26:17Speaker 3: wrong answer is a wipeout and literally wipes your score
- 26:21Speaker 3: back to zero, you're gonna want to possibly think about passing,
- 26:25Speaker 3: and doing so is fine. But because there's only two
- 26:27Speaker 3: of you, I had to make a third player, So
- 26:29Speaker 3: welcome back the artificial lack of intelligence.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Ali on Nemesis, our old rival.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Yes, whenever Matt passes to Udro, who then passes to Ali,
- 26:40Speaker 3: Ali will take a wrong answer off the board, just
- 26:43Speaker 3: automatically take one away. However, Ali won't take the last
- 26:47Speaker 3: wrong answer off the board. There will always be at
- 26:51Speaker 3: least one left, and one of the two of you
- 26:53Speaker 3: will hopefully not find it, but we'll see in the Meanwhile,
- 26:57Speaker 3: the first correct answers were twenty five points, then fifty
- 27:00Speaker 3: seventy five, then one hundred. It goes up by twenty
- 27:02Speaker 3: for each one until the final correct answer, which is
- 27:05Speaker 3: two hundred and seventy five points. Wow. So getting the
- 27:09Speaker 3: later answers can really boost your score, but obviously by
- 27:12Speaker 3: that point it's also really dangerous, so just bear that
- 27:16Speaker 3: in mind as you play. Matt, you're gonna start because
- 27:18Speaker 3: you're in the first position and you're behind. So here
- 27:21Speaker 3: is your board for round one. Eleven of these are
- 27:25Speaker 3: named elves in the Lord of the Ring series. Five
- 27:30Speaker 3: of them are not. Okay, and Matt, I'm gonna let
- 27:33Speaker 3: you start off. I'm gonna read these off for the
- 27:35Speaker 3: people listening. Angrod, then Lelliel, Redfeather, Arwyin, Glorfindel Kayla, Oro
- 27:45Speaker 3: Dress Tin fang Kelabrimbor, little Heart, Willow Song, Farren, legaliss
- 27:55Speaker 3: Ilwin Ener Dill and el Rond. Matt whenever you're ready.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Lovely bunch of belves that I'm gonna go with Arwin.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Going with Arwin? Okay, is Arwin and elf from the
- 28:07Speaker 3: Lord of the Rings. Absolutely, it is twenty five points
- 28:13Speaker 3: to Matt. Matt, give me another answer.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, Glorfandel.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Glorfandel is Glorfandel and elf from Lord of the Rings. Yes,
- 28:22Speaker 3: exactly right. That's another fifty points. You're up to seventy five.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Do you want to keep going or do you want
- 28:26Speaker 3: to pass?
- 28:27Speaker 2: I would like to keep going. All right, I'm gonna
- 28:30Speaker 2: say Keller Brimble the Smith.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Kella Brimbor is Keller Brimbor an elf from Lord of
- 28:36Speaker 3: the Rings. Yes, of course it sounds like you knew it.
- 28:39Speaker 3: That's another seventy five points. Brings you up to one
- 28:41Speaker 3: hundred and fifty. You've taken three correct answers off the board,
- 28:45Speaker 3: so there's eight correct and five incorrect left. I'm gonna
- 28:49Speaker 3: bring up something else. Now, there is one answer on
- 28:52Speaker 3: this board that hides a special hot spot. If you
- 28:57Speaker 3: hit that answer, which I determined in my opinion to
- 29:00Speaker 3: be the hardest answer on the board to pick us
- 29:03Speaker 3: the right one, you will gain the hot spot. If
- 29:07Speaker 3: you wipe out any time after that, you will lose it.
- 29:10Speaker 3: And I'm just gonna warn you now. If you have
- 29:12Speaker 3: the hot spot at the end of this round, you
- 29:14Speaker 3: keep it and that is worth twenty five dollars to
- 29:17Speaker 3: the charity of your choice.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Ah okay, little spot prize.
- 29:21Speaker 3: So there is a little prize up there, but you
- 29:24Speaker 3: have to keep it till the end of the round,
- 29:25Speaker 3: which means once you find it you cannot wipe out.
- 29:27Speaker 2: If you do, it's gone interesting. Little little spice in
- 29:31Speaker 2: the pop.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yes, little in the little spicy little spices. Thirteen answers left.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Where do you want to go?
- 29:39Speaker 2: I would like to go with a Lego Lass the
- 29:42Speaker 2: girl who likes Lego.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Lego Lass is Lego Lass, a lord of the rings elf.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Of course he is well done. Where to next? Or
- 29:50Speaker 3: do you want to pass? You're up to two hundred
- 29:52Speaker 3: and fifty points.
- 29:53Speaker 2: There's one more I'm confident about, So I'm going to
- 29:55Speaker 2: go with l Rond l Rond l Rond Hubbet.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Is l a lord of the rings elf. Yes, and
- 30:03Speaker 3: that's another one hundred and twenty five points. You're up
- 30:05Speaker 3: to three seventy five.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Okay, those were the ones I was confident on the others.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I'm not one hundred percent sure on and I don't
- 30:12Speaker 2: want to risk anything at this stage, so I'm gonna pass.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Okay, you're passing to Odra Odre. You're now in control.
- 30:20Speaker 3: You have to give me at least one answer before
- 30:21Speaker 3: you can pass.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Okay, I'm thinking Oroo Dreth Oro dress is what I'm
- 30:28Speaker 1: gonna go with.
- 30:29Speaker 3: You're going with Orodreth is Oorrodreth, a elf from Lord
- 30:32Speaker 3: of the Rings. Yes, absolutely, that's right, Adre. Do you
- 30:36Speaker 3: want to uh continue or do you want to pass?
- 30:39Speaker 3: There are still five wrong answers up there, but now
- 30:42Speaker 3: there's only five correct answers left, so it's a fifty
- 30:44Speaker 3: to fifty shot. Gosh, but your next correct answer is
- 30:48Speaker 3: worth one seventy five would get you to three twenty five,
- 30:50Speaker 3: just behind Matt.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I think I have to go for one more, just
- 30:54Speaker 1: to try.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Where to ang Rod is ang Rod an elf from
- 31:02Speaker 3: Lord of the Rings? Yes, absolutely right, brings you up
- 31:06Speaker 3: to three twenty five. Okay, what do you want to do?
- 31:09Speaker 3: There are four correct answers left, five wrong ones, and
- 31:13Speaker 3: of course if you pass, Ali will automatically take a
- 31:15Speaker 3: wrong one off the board.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I don't know why they got rid of this game
- 31:20Speaker 2: after just one season.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Oh shit, the tension, the tension, like the genuine thing
- 31:29Speaker 1: in my heart. Kayla is absolutely calling to me.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Do you want to go with it?
- 31:37Speaker 1: It's either the hot spot or the You're a dumb ass.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Why did you think there was an elf called Kayla?
- 31:48Speaker 1: And so I'm gonna try. I'm picking Kayla.
- 31:51Speaker 3: You're going with Kayla? All right? For two hundred points?
- 31:56Speaker 3: Is Kayla a Lord of the rings elf?
- 32:00Speaker 1: Now?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Sorry, Kayla is not an el from Lord of the
- 32:07Speaker 3: rings arter. You wipe out your back down to nothing.
- 32:10Speaker 3: But that's okay. There's still plenty of answers up there
- 32:13Speaker 3: on the board to make to make points from it,
- 32:15Speaker 3: and the hotspot's still up there somewhere. But now we're
- 32:17Speaker 3: gonna go over to Ali, who is going to take
- 32:19Speaker 3: another wrong answer off the board. Redfeather was also incorrect,
- 32:26Speaker 3: so that leaves the remaining answers on the board are
- 32:29Speaker 3: Van Lelliel, Tin Fang, Little Heart, Willow Song, Farren, Illwen,
- 32:36Speaker 3: and ener Dill and Matt Control goes back to you.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Wouldn't it have been so good if that wasn't elf
- 32:41Speaker 2: called Kayla?
- 32:44Speaker 3: There was an elf called Kayla from something. I took
- 32:47Speaker 3: the fake ones from other properties. I just don't remember
- 32:50Speaker 3: what Kayla was from. I think it was a video game.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Gately gmail dot com.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, if you know, if you know what Kayla
- 32:58Speaker 3: the Elf is from us, please let me know, absolutely, Okay.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I The one I next and most confident with is
- 33:07Speaker 2: ill when Illwen Ill?
- 33:09Speaker 3: When is Illwen an elf from Lord of the Rings? Yes,
- 33:14Speaker 3: that's two hundred points. Matt, you're up to five seventy five.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I think I'm look, I've got to win this. I'm
- 33:20Speaker 2: gonna play this tactically. I'm gonna pass.
- 33:22Speaker 3: You're gonna pass. Okay, I think that's probably wise. Protect
- 33:25Speaker 3: your point.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Total it we should ever.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Go over to ore ore the good news. It's fifty
- 33:31Speaker 3: to fifty. There are three correct answers left and three
- 33:33Speaker 3: incorrect answers left, and one of those correct answers hides
- 33:37Speaker 3: the hotspot.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Let's go with enerdal.
- 33:41Speaker 3: ENERDLL is Enerdill an elf from Lord of the Rings? Yes,
- 33:48Speaker 3: absolutely right, and it's the hotspot. So Audre, you have
- 33:53Speaker 3: that hotspot that is all yours. If you wipe out,
- 33:56Speaker 3: it's gone. But if you keep it until if you
- 33:58Speaker 3: keep it to the next round. That adds twenty five
- 34:01Speaker 3: dollars to the charity rechoice if you play to win,
- 34:04Speaker 3: so bear that in mind. You may want to avoid
- 34:07Speaker 3: wiping out at all costs.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Here, Okay, I think I I genuinely think I might pass.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Okay, we passed. Ali. Ali, of course takes a wrong
- 34:18Speaker 3: answer off the board. Willow Song was incorrect, and that
- 34:22Speaker 3: is now out of play. So there are just two
- 34:24Speaker 3: correct answers and two incorrect answers left, Van Lelliel, Tin Fang,
- 34:30Speaker 3: Little Heart and Farren. Matt, you have to give me
- 34:33Speaker 3: an answer.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I think I'm going to go with the most Tolkien
- 34:37Speaker 2: sounding one, and I'm gonna go Van Lellil.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Okay, Van Lellil is Van Lelliel from Lord of the Rings.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Oh no, sorry, Matt, Van lellel Is from Dimension twenties
- 34:53Speaker 3: Fantasy High.
- 34:55Speaker 1: No.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I was screwed by postmodernism.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I even did in my heart. I was like, oh yeah,
- 35:03Speaker 1: Brennan Lee Mulligan was totally right when he was making
- 35:06Speaker 1: fun of the tokens.
- 35:08Speaker 3: So there are no more wrong answers left too. There
- 35:17Speaker 3: is one wrong answer left on the board, but Ali
- 35:19Speaker 3: cannot take it. So Ali's out of the game. So, Audra,
- 35:22Speaker 3: it's just you and Matt now, and Audra, you're in control.
- 35:25Speaker 3: There are two correct answers. There's one wrong answer. If
- 35:29Speaker 3: you pick the wrong answer, we're going to round two
- 35:32Speaker 3: on an even keel. You're both at zero, and I'll
- 35:36Speaker 3: just give Matt control of the first round. In round
- 35:40Speaker 3: two if you get it right and then pass, there's
- 35:43Speaker 3: nothing Matt can do to catch you. So what do
- 35:46Speaker 3: you want to go with? There are two correct answers left,
- 35:48Speaker 3: tin Fang, Little Heart and Farren. One of those is wrong,
- 35:52Speaker 3: avoid it and you win the round.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Genuinely, this is like thirty three and a third wild gas. Yes, okay,
- 36:01Speaker 1: I feel like in Lord of the Rings at one
- 36:03Speaker 1: point in time there was there were were wolves and vampires,
- 36:07Speaker 1: and so I'm gonna say Tinfang Tinfang.
- 36:11Speaker 3: If Tinfang is an elf from Lord of the Rings,
- 36:13Speaker 3: Oudra has won the round and will take control into
- 36:16Speaker 3: round two, and she keeps the hotspot, which adds twenty
- 36:19Speaker 3: five dollars to the possible win. Okay, here goes. Is
- 36:24Speaker 3: Tinfang a Lord of the Rings elf? Yes, it absolutely is, so, Audra.
- 36:30Speaker 3: At four seventy five, Matt, I'll give you the last
- 36:32Speaker 3: guess just for funzies, but it isn't gonna do any good.
- 36:36Speaker 3: What do you think, little Heart and Farren? Which do
- 36:38Speaker 3: you think is real? In which do you think is fake?
- 36:40Speaker 2: I don't think there'd be an elf called little Heart.
- 36:43Speaker 2: It sounds too much like a hobbit, so I'm gonna
- 36:45Speaker 2: say Farren.
- 36:46Speaker 3: You'd go with Farren?
- 36:47Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:48Speaker 3: Oh, one news, sorry, little Heart is an actual Lord
- 36:52Speaker 3: of the rings elf.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Unbelievable.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Well, here's the good news. Odra found the hotspot and
- 36:59Speaker 3: kept it, so we are adding twenty five dollars to
- 37:02Speaker 3: the possible win today. But Odra also won the round,
- 37:05Speaker 3: which means she's going to take control of round two.
- 37:11Speaker 3: So round two works a little differently. There's going to
- 37:14Speaker 3: be twelve screens this time, eight correct answers and four
- 37:17Speaker 3: wrong answers. Before you start picking, though, you're going to
- 37:21Speaker 3: choose how many of the eight you think you can
- 37:23Speaker 3: give in a row without wiping out. The next player
- 37:27Speaker 3: then has to either up that number or challenge, and
- 37:30Speaker 3: we'll keep going back and forth until somebody challenges or
- 37:33Speaker 3: somebody bids all eight. Then that player who won the
- 37:36Speaker 3: bid has to give me that many correct answers. In
- 37:38Speaker 3: a row without wiping out. If they hit a wipeout,
- 37:41Speaker 3: it's not immediately over. The other player just has to
- 37:44Speaker 3: give one correct answer to steal the round. If they fail,
- 37:48Speaker 3: we go back to the original player and they get
- 37:49Speaker 3: to continue their count, but they still have to reach
- 37:53Speaker 3: their number, and if they wipe out a second time,
- 37:55Speaker 3: they lose the round. It goes to the other player.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Okay, I'm following that by also see why this got canceled.
- 38:02Speaker 2: The first round is a much sleeker, simpler format.
- 38:05Speaker 3: It's a lot easier if I just walk you through it.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Here's your first board. We went over James Bond recently,
- 38:11Speaker 3: and we went over Bond Girls. I remember that much,
- 38:14Speaker 3: But do you know the actresses who played send Bond Girls.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Eight of these were Bond Girl actresses and four of
- 38:21Speaker 3: them were not. And the names are Halle Berry, Fade Dunaway,
- 38:26Speaker 3: Sophie Marceau, Jane Seymour, Julie Christy, Michelle Yo, Telissa Soto,
- 38:33Speaker 3: Catherine Denouve, Terry Hatcher, Tanya Roberts, Caroline Monroe, and Jennifer
- 38:39Speaker 3: Connolly anddra All that in mind, how many correct answers
- 38:43Speaker 3: in a row do you think you can give me
- 38:49Speaker 3: and extremely tentative. Four who was three?
- 38:54Speaker 1: Or four?
- 38:54Speaker 3: Three? Four?
- 38:55Speaker 1: Three? Four? And then I was just I heard a
- 38:57Speaker 1: voice say, I don't know, maybe fucking send it? So
- 39:02Speaker 1: I said four.
- 39:03Speaker 3: All right, Matt, do you want to go over that?
- 39:06Speaker 3: Or do you want to challenge her to get four
- 39:08Speaker 3: in a row.
- 39:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna say five.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Ooh, Matt says five. We go back to Audra. You
- 39:15Speaker 3: have to go six or challenge.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I genuinely don't know if I even know who four
- 39:21Speaker 1: of these people are, and so I'm gonna.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Challenge challenge all right. In that case, Matt, it goes
- 39:29Speaker 3: over to you. Go ahead and give me your first
- 39:33Speaker 3: correct answer.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, Halle Barry.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Halle Barry. Was she a bond girl? Absolutely? Brings you
- 39:39Speaker 3: down to four? Just need four more? Michelle Yo Michelle Yoe.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Was she a bond girl? Absolutely? She was down to three?
- 39:48Speaker 3: Terry Hatcha Terry Hatcher? Was she a bond girl? Of course?
- 39:52Speaker 3: She was two? Left.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Jane Seymour, Jane Seymour. Was Jane Seymour a bond girl? Yes?
- 40:01Speaker 3: She was just need one more to take the round? Matt.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Now, this this is where I was just batting this
- 40:09Speaker 2: is where I was just those were the four that
- 40:11Speaker 2: I was like dead certain on. Oay, we're in an
- 40:14Speaker 2: interesting position.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Here, all right.
- 40:17Speaker 2: There's a couple up there that I'm pretty certain just
- 40:20Speaker 2: armed bond girls. So I'm just gonna take a guess
- 40:26Speaker 2: at someone, and I'm gonna say Katherine Daneuve.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Catherine Daneuve. If Catherine Danov is a bond girl actress,
- 40:34Speaker 3: you have taken the first round immediately. If not, Audrey
- 40:37Speaker 3: gets a chance to steal. Was Katherine Deanove a bond
- 40:41Speaker 3: girl actress?
- 40:43Speaker 2: No?
- 40:44Speaker 3: No, Katherine Danov was not a bond girl actress. Audrey,
- 40:49Speaker 3: you just have to give me one right answer to
- 40:51Speaker 3: steal this board. Okay, there are four right answers left
- 40:56Speaker 3: and three wipeouts.
- 40:59Speaker 1: They Faye done Away.
- 41:02Speaker 3: If Aye Dunaway is a Bond Girl actress, then Oudra
- 41:05Speaker 3: has tolen the board from Matt. If not, Matt gets
- 41:08Speaker 3: another shot at it. Is Faye Dunaway a Bond girl actress. No,
- 41:16Speaker 3: she is not, Matt a reprieve. You now are back
- 41:21Speaker 3: to where you were before. You just need to give
- 41:22Speaker 3: me one right answer, and this board is yours.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Okay, my instinct was way off last time of taking
- 41:30Speaker 2: the guests. So I'm gonna say this time, I'm gonna
- 41:33Speaker 2: go in the opposite direction of instinct, and I'm gonna
- 41:37Speaker 2: say Talisa Soto.
- 41:38Speaker 3: Talisa Soto. All right. If Talisa Soto is correct, Matt
- 41:42Speaker 3: has won the round. If it is wrong, he has failed,
- 41:46Speaker 3: and Audra wins the round. Is Talisa Soto a bond girl?
- 41:53Speaker 3: Is well done? Matt wins board one, well done. So
- 42:00Speaker 3: for the curious, the remaining correct answers were Sophie Marceau,
- 42:06Speaker 3: Caroline Monroe, and Tanya Roberts. Julie Christy and Jennifer Connelly
- 42:12Speaker 3: were both incorrect.
- 42:14Speaker 1: I wouldn't have even gotten four.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Well, you never know. Maybe Matt would have picked Catherine
- 42:21Speaker 3: Denov and then you would have gone right back to
- 42:23Speaker 3: it and could have stolen it back. Who knows, and
- 42:25Speaker 3: any of them Matts. Matt has the first board. If
- 42:29Speaker 3: Matt takes one more board, he has won this game. Okay,
- 42:32Speaker 3: and Matt even better? News Auder got to wager first
- 42:35Speaker 3: last time. This time you get to wager first. So
- 42:38Speaker 3: take a look at this board. Eight of these are
- 42:42Speaker 3: named demons from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and four are not.
- 42:48Speaker 3: How many of these can you name as demons from
- 42:51Speaker 3: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna start out the bidding process with a cool one.
- 42:58Speaker 3: With a cool one, Okayra, over to you. Would you
- 43:04Speaker 3: like to wager a cooler two?
- 43:07Speaker 1: Oh?
- 43:07Speaker 3: You can go as high as you want.
- 43:09Speaker 1: By the way, I am gonna do an ice cold
- 43:13Speaker 1: like cold as the Grave two.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Okay too. It is over to Matt. Matt, you have
- 43:21Speaker 3: to go higher or challenge.
- 43:23Speaker 2: I'm going to turn the temperature up on this grave
- 43:25Speaker 2: and I'm gonna give you a give you a sizzling three.
- 43:29Speaker 3: A sizzling three. Back over to Odra. Four or challenge.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I think I've got to go big. I've got to
- 43:36Speaker 1: go fucking if I want to win this, if I
- 43:39Speaker 1: want to take this home and cement my humility, I
- 43:45Speaker 1: gotta go big. I gotta go for four challenge.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Okay fuck? Oh, Matt immediately challenges and it's Oudra's board
- 43:53Speaker 3: for the taking. All right, Odra, you got to You
- 43:56Speaker 3: just have to give me four correct answers without hitting
- 43:58Speaker 3: a wipeout whenever you're ready.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I'm so sorry to everyone who loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Laharal Laharal is Laharrel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. No, no, no,
- 44:16Speaker 3: Laharrel is a demon from this guya a video game.
- 44:20Speaker 3: I'm afraid Yay. Okay, Matt, here's the good news. You
- 44:24Speaker 3: just have to give me one right answer to win
- 44:26Speaker 3: the round. However, if you're wrong, Audre gets another chance
- 44:31Speaker 3: to get four in a row.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Okay, this again. Sorry to anybody likes s Buffy the
- 44:36Speaker 2: Vampire Slaya. I've already forgotten my research from last year.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Oh you know what I did? I did it. I
- 44:42Speaker 3: did our audience at disservice. I didn't even read out
- 44:44Speaker 3: the name, so let me read them out for the
- 44:46Speaker 3: people listening at home so they have a chance to
- 44:48Speaker 3: play along before we finish this round. The available options
- 44:52Speaker 3: are the Gentleman Halfrek, Torgue, Sweet Chio, A, Kathla, a
- 45:00Speaker 3: tests Egon, the Sleepwalker, Jaxis, Dracula, and the Sisterhood of
- 45:05Speaker 3: j So now you should be able to guess at
- 45:08Speaker 3: how many you could get at home, while Matt gives
- 45:11Speaker 3: me one correct answer to steal the round and the game.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Okay, with everything on the line, and with apologies to
- 45:18Speaker 2: Buffy fans, I'm gonna go for a Katla.
- 45:21Speaker 3: If a Kathla is a demon from Buffy, then Matt
- 45:24Speaker 3: has won the round and the game. If not, it's
- 45:29Speaker 3: Oudra has a chance to give me four in a
- 45:31Speaker 3: row yet again, but she could do it. Is a
- 45:34Speaker 3: Kathla from Buffy. Yes, absolutely, which means Matt has taken
- 45:40Speaker 3: two boards and wins the round and the game.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Well done, Matt, I guys, I needed this. I needed this?
- 45:52Speaker 1: But what about me?
- 45:55Speaker 3: What about my needs?
- 45:56Speaker 2: What about what I need?
- 45:58Speaker 1: I needed to go six.
- 45:59Speaker 3: And well, well there's still there's still time to get
- 46:03Speaker 3: more wins under your belt, but not today. I'm afraid Oudre,
- 46:07Speaker 3: Matt has taken this game. Uh so, for anyone interested
- 46:10Speaker 3: at home, the remaining correct answers were the Gentleman Halfreck, Torgue,
- 46:16Speaker 3: Sweet Egon, the Sleepwalker Dracula, and the Sisterhood of Ja.
- 46:22Speaker 3: The remaining four were all incorrect, taken from various other
- 46:26Speaker 3: properties Chiogannatassin, Geraxis. But I'm sure Matt doesn't care. He
- 46:31Speaker 3: is just one. Hey, another bonus round.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Yep, that's what that is. That's that's the important thing.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Although I did I Draxis was one I eliminated because
- 46:42Speaker 2: is that world of warcraft?
- 46:44Speaker 3: Yes, Jeraxis is World Warcraft.
- 46:46Speaker 2: That one I was avoided. And then Dracula. That was
- 46:48Speaker 2: so interesting. It was like it was either going to
- 46:50Speaker 2: be really is or is like either Joss Whedon did
- 46:54Speaker 2: this or it definitely didn't happen.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Well, he absolutely did season five, I think episode one
- 47:00Speaker 3: of season five, Buffy meets Dracula bring the Bank guns
- 47:04Speaker 3: quite literally. It was an excellent episode. So yeah, that's
- 47:09Speaker 3: wipeout for you. There was a bonus round as well,
- 47:12Speaker 3: but it's kind of hard to play because it's like
- 47:14Speaker 3: a sixty second timed thing, and so I just figured
- 47:17Speaker 3: i'd make the hotspot the bonus round, which you won.
- 47:20Speaker 3: So I'm going to donate fifty dollars to your charity of.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Choice, Doctors Without Borders.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Doctors without Borders. It is perfect. I love that pick,
- 47:31Speaker 3: so important. So yeah, well done. Congratulations Matt for closing
- 47:36Speaker 3: up the score. Thank It is now four games to
- 47:39Speaker 3: adra three to Matt. It is a one game game,
- 47:45Speaker 3: a one game contest, I should call it. So yeah,
- 47:50Speaker 3: we'll be back next month with another bonus round and
- 47:52Speaker 3: we'll see. We'll see how the scales tip that time,
- 47:56Speaker 3: and if Matt can tie it up, make it four
- 47:58Speaker 3: to four.
- 48:00Speaker 2: That's the dream that.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Re extend her lead fingers crossed.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Aerin. That was an absolute blast.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you so much for having me and
- 48:13Speaker 3: letting me play these silly games. And I can't wait
- 48:15Speaker 3: for the next one.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Say, like I said, I needed this.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I went into that pretty confident. You were pretty confident,
- 48:26Speaker 1: and I needed to be humbled for my personal spiritual journey.
- 48:34Speaker 1: And I just I don't know how I can get
- 48:36Speaker 1: any lower in life than four to three.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Still still in the lead, still in the lead.
- 48:43Speaker 1: By one, and I just I'm so glad that there's
- 48:47Speaker 1: gonna be a whole month for me to recover and
- 48:51Speaker 1: then I'll come back and I'll win and it'll be fine.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Oh okay, so you are still just as confident.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yes, you saw, you saw my entire dark Knight of
- 49:01Speaker 1: the Soul.
- 49:02Speaker 2: It just happened in that thirty seconds.
- 49:04Speaker 1: It just happened in that thirty seconds. I have a
- 49:06Speaker 1: very rich inner life.
- 49:09Speaker 2: I believe it. I believe it. Yeah, I'm glad. The
- 49:12Speaker 2: score looks more reasonable now for three. That's you know,
- 49:16Speaker 2: I'm behind by one. Anything could happen. The dream is alive.
- 49:20Speaker 2: We're gonna tie it up next month. And then oh,
- 49:23Speaker 2: you never know, Matt Old games Master. Matt could be
- 49:26Speaker 2: in the lead. I could be in the lead by August.
- 49:30Speaker 2: By August August, oh, I don't know if that timeline's
- 49:35Speaker 2: gonna work for me. We'll pencil something in. Maybe by October.
- 49:40Speaker 1: We can get you in the lead.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Hey, as well, as long as I end up in
- 49:43Speaker 2: the lead by the end of the year, I don't mind.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Oh shit, this backfired. Shit shit, Well, I'm looking forward
- 49:49Speaker 1: to playing more games against you, win.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Or lose always, and thank you once again to Aaron
