- 30:30Back, Sammy Hill, Virginia Greg and Bob Sweeney. The lineup was transcribed
- 30:33in Hollywood by Hi Made Dolviyer. This is the CBS Radio Network, Welcome
- 31:07back. Well, it was nice to see the lineup once again sponsored by
- 31:12Wrigley Spearman at Chewing Gum regularly definitely played a big role in a lot of
- 31:18these CBS shows of the early nineteen fifties, so a pretty strong relationship.
- 31:23Of course. We also heard them sponsor yours truly, Johnny Doller. All
- 31:29right, Well, just some listener comments and feedback. We begin with this
- 31:33comment from Renee, who says love the show. This is regarding the episode
- 31:37the Pitiful Patrick Side episode ten sixty ten sixty four. I think the Patrick
- 31:47side referred to the title was the Virginia Great character. At the beginning of
- 31:51the show, ms Weiss was starting as she was late, but things are
- 31:52now that daddy is gone. The owner of the liquor store that was shot
- 31:57was her father. I could kind of get that. The problem. The
- 32:02problem is that a patracide. Technically it's not when somebody kills your father.
- 32:08But I did double check this, meaning when it's when you kill your own
- 32:14father. That the dictionary kind of backs me up on it. That's how
- 32:19I understood it, which made it an odd title. I guess the thing
- 32:22is that whoever wrote the titles for the lineup like to be clever, and
- 32:28none of these actually went out on the show said okay, this is a
- 32:31pitiful patracide. So it was just for internal use. But that was the
- 32:37title. I can kind of see how it made a little bit of sense,
- 32:42even if it wasn't quite precisely correct meaning. But she goes on,
- 32:45she writes, I love your podcast and discovered a lot of new shows.
- 32:50My thirteen year old son has loved listening to old time radio for a few
- 32:53years. I introduced him to my favorite husband after he went through all the
- 32:57seasons of I Love Lucy, and he listens to who that One and Father
- 33:00knows best all the time. He loves dragging that Adam twelve and any of
- 33:05the old time TV shows on reruns. We like to watch Perry Mason and
- 33:08Ironside together again. Thanks for all of the work that you do to keep
- 33:15the podcast going well. Thanks so much, Renee, and thank you for
- 33:19passing on the enjoyment of Golden Age entertainment to the next generation. Received a
- 33:24comment from Joel regarding the episode my post on old Time Radio. He says,
- 33:34I'm also a fan of old time radio news broadcast, particularly CBS News
- 33:38World News Today. I listened to the nightly broadcast from thirty eight thirty nine
- 33:45leading up to World War Two. Great journalists giving live feeds via short waves
- 33:49from world capitals. Hearing the day by day events, knowing what happened but
- 33:53not the details from people who report it, not from hindsight but as a
- 33:59new is an incredible way to understand history. Well, thanks so much,
- 34:04Joel, and those can definitely be interesting. And I haven't listened to the
- 34:07CBS News broadcast, but I frequently listened to a program called The Magic Key
- 34:15from NBC, and they had a lot of live remotes in early episodes.
- 34:23They liked the idea of just showing what they could do and just trying to
- 34:28dazzle folks with radio. So they had I think a segment where they went
- 34:34all the way around the world via remotes, and then they started getting to
- 34:37newsmen in the field. I listened to one person and talk about Spanish Civil
- 34:44War interview with Eleanor Roosevelt before World War Two on kind of her thoughts on
- 34:51the whole situation, and really it's it's a great way I think to grab
- 34:58hold of history some of these news broadcast and I'll probably be doing that.
- 35:01I've got to get started on getting my war podcast, which I'd hope to
- 35:06get out next month already, so we'll be looking forward to doing that shortly.
- 35:12All right, Well, this will do it for today. We'll be
- 35:16back on Monday with yours truly, Johnny Doller. Then join us back here
- 35:22Saturday for the lineup. In the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen
