- 0:02Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:05Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's
- 0:11Speaker 1: vigion Welcome to patri Gets Unfiltered. I heard Evan this
- 0:21Speaker 1: morning on one of Paul's stations. I don't know how
- 0:23Speaker 1: it got up that early funny, That's all I thought of.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I was like, how is Evan up? From the sounds
- 0:27Speaker 1: of it. It was a huge to do in the
- 0:29Speaker 1: Lazar household, the SPF rating of Fred's suntan motion in
- 0:32Speaker 1: a rule of forty five. Oh, I'm playing under on
- 0:35Speaker 1: that one. Here an oil guy who guess you oil
- 0:38Speaker 1: got to get the brown you'd a brown up. He
- 0:39Speaker 1: didn't even look like he's been in the Sun's very
- 0:41Speaker 1: close to the equator. It's close to Venezuela. So like
- 0:48Speaker 1: always wondered that because Hardy does the commercial for like
- 0:51Speaker 1: the quick freeze, like the fat freeze, and like the
- 0:52Speaker 1: Hardy really get his fat frozen off of him. I
- 0:55Speaker 1: have a lot of fat. Talk to Hardy, I'm like,
- 0:56Speaker 1: where did they freeze it? Can brother get a nice cube.
- 0:58Speaker 1: We are having a party to come rememorate our first
- 1:00Speaker 1: draft without Eric. The party would be held at the
- 1:03Speaker 1: Providence Boys Club in the Buddy Sancy Room. Fifty dollars
- 1:06Speaker 1: cover charge, with all proceeds going to the Chestnut Animal Rescue.
- 1:10Speaker 1: The sponsors are the former high school Kickers for Abstinence.
- 1:14Speaker 1: All right, what are we talking about today besides nonsense?
- 1:16Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome
- 1:23Speaker 1: to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Lett's Stadium,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and that means we're on video, YouTube and elsewhere, so
- 1:33Speaker 1: welcome everyone to our faces. But it's a good day
- 1:38Speaker 1: to be on video because I want to announce that
- 1:41Speaker 1: today we will have these new T shirts, Patriots Unfiltered
- 1:47Speaker 1: T shirts, and at various times during the show, we're
- 1:51Speaker 1: going to give out a trivia question based on things
- 1:53Speaker 1: that have happened on Patriots Unfiltered, and if you get
- 1:57Speaker 1: the correct answer, email to web radio at patriot dot com.
- 2:01Speaker 1: If you're the first person to have the correct answer
- 2:04Speaker 1: to web radio at patriot dot com, we will send
- 2:07Speaker 1: you a T shirt. Matt Morrell will get in touch
- 2:10Speaker 1: with you, get your address, and we'll get you out
- 2:12Speaker 1: of T shirt. And we'll be doing this, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: throughout the year. Uh So we'll have Patriots unfiltered T shirts. Finally,
- 2:20Speaker 1: people ask for him. You got them, We got them.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We got to zoom out here. Let let's see we
- 2:24Speaker 1: get up and model. Yeah, didn't even take the sticker off.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So Paul playing the role of Vannah White, so do
- 2:32Speaker 1: a little twirl on the on the catlock. Paul, Let's
- 2:35Speaker 1: wants to see that. So we have the Patriots. So
- 2:38Speaker 1: we'll do that in a few minutes. We'll do it
- 2:40Speaker 1: a few times during the show, so if you miss
- 2:42Speaker 1: the first one, if you tune in late, you'll get
- 2:44Speaker 1: another chance later in the show to win a T
- 2:47Speaker 1: shirt today or a future show. We gotta boxes up there. Boxes. Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 1: we have some trivia questions that we're gonna throw at you.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And there's a lot of them, so yeah, you might
- 2:56Speaker 1: want to could be a fun offseason for you guys. Yeah. So,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and they're all questions related to the show. So we
- 3:03Speaker 1: want to make sure that the first people that have
- 3:06Speaker 1: a chance to win the T shirts are superfans. Yeah, superfans. Yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 1: a lot of good questions though that Paul is cracking
- 3:13Speaker 1: me up. I knew most of them, but someone are
- 3:15Speaker 1: a little bit surprised, a little bit of deep die
- 3:16Speaker 1: for the old Day. Well, I did provide the answers
- 3:18Speaker 1: for you, didn't. I didn't, and I have to tell
- 3:21Speaker 1: you I don't know the answers to Summer Friends. Okay,
- 3:24Speaker 1: so people go there first, all right, Um, so what
- 3:27Speaker 1: are we talking about. We talked a little bit about
- 3:29Speaker 1: before the show. Zoe had some comments on one of
- 3:32Speaker 1: Paul's stations about, you know, hoping that Mac is in
- 3:37Speaker 1: the building, meaning like he's getting a head start on things,
- 3:41Speaker 1: and you know, immediately there was a human cry about, well,
- 3:47Speaker 1: he can't be in the building blah blah blah blah.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yes and no, I mean he can't be involved in
- 3:54Speaker 1: any organized activities. So like Bill O'Brien can't say, hey, Mac,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I need you to come down here. We're gonna start
- 4:01Speaker 1: going over there. That can happen, um, but there's players
- 4:06Speaker 1: here working out. You can be here on your own
- 4:10Speaker 1: to do whatever you want. You just can't do anything
- 4:12Speaker 1: that's organized by the team. That's a strict rule, and
- 4:16Speaker 1: a team will be in big trouble if they do
- 4:18Speaker 1: try to start doing that. And I'm even talking about
- 4:21Speaker 1: like Moses Cabrera are strength and could couldn't say hey,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a lifting session. This one. You can't
- 4:27Speaker 1: do it. It cannot do it. So is it kind
- 4:29Speaker 1: of like the season breaks and I assume each guy
- 4:31Speaker 1: gets a book of training. You know, this is your
- 4:34Speaker 1: your offseason program. We need you to train. They can
- 4:36Speaker 1: take that book, come in here, do their workout. It's
- 4:38Speaker 1: just not going to be oversaw from on the last
- 4:41Speaker 1: day you left with that. You left with your program
- 4:46Speaker 1: for the offseason. It's interestingly like, you know, so say
- 4:48Speaker 1: you got a guy here, a rookie, say, you know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Andrew Stuber's here and he's not doing an exercise correctly
- 4:54Speaker 1: the way they want him to do it. You know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: could Moses come over and be like, hey, I don't
- 4:58Speaker 1: need to do it this way. Those cont I don't
- 5:00Speaker 1: think so, you know, um, you just can't have anything organized.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's the spirit of it is these guys, you know
- 5:08Speaker 1: per CBA, this is their time to be off. Um,
- 5:13Speaker 1: they don't you know, they don't want one team going
- 5:15Speaker 1: crazy and then the next team has to do it
- 5:17Speaker 1: and then it becomes an arms race, and then that's
- 5:20Speaker 1: when the you know, the voluntary becomes involuntary. Like you know,
- 5:24Speaker 1: you can call it voluntary, but if you if I'm
- 5:27Speaker 1: not here, I'm falling behind. Yeah, or um, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: not necessarily in the plants. So that's that's what the
- 5:34Speaker 1: the CBA was meant to do, is sort of take
- 5:36Speaker 1: the pressure off the players in terms of their So
- 5:39Speaker 1: so his presence in in the facility those saying, you know,
- 5:43Speaker 1: he hopes that uh Mac is here. You know, we
- 5:47Speaker 1: all hope he's working out, which we've already seen videos
- 5:50Speaker 1: of him doing. I have no doubt that, you know.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And that's that's up in Debtom. That's at a hockey
- 5:53Speaker 1: rink in Debtom. Yeah, that I work at there. It
- 5:56Speaker 1: just cracks me up that everything isn't Debtom. So he
- 5:58Speaker 1: could be he could be doing here. I mean he's
- 6:01Speaker 1: I mean where he's doing that? Um, I think with
- 6:06Speaker 1: Zoe's point, well, and he started off earlier in the week. Um,
- 6:11Speaker 1: there is some value in getting together with Billy O'Brien
- 6:14Speaker 1: to sort of, you know, get in the offense emailing
- 6:18Speaker 1: figure out what they're doing. That's not necessarily anything that
- 6:22Speaker 1: he's prohibited from doing. Now they can't force him to
- 6:26Speaker 1: do it, they can't ask him to do it, but
- 6:28Speaker 1: he can talk to Billy O'Brien like to your point, Mike,
- 6:31Speaker 1: like with Moses Cabrara, Billy O'Brien can't drag him out
- 6:34Speaker 1: onto the field and say this is how I need
- 6:35Speaker 1: you to throw this back. That's what Fred's talking about.
- 6:38Speaker 1: You can't do that. You can't have anything on field,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you can't have anything organized, you can't have any kind
- 6:44Speaker 1: of you know, gathering. But Bill O'Brien, and I mean,
- 6:48Speaker 1: is that wrong? They could be talking about am I
- 6:50Speaker 1: missing the CBA, But you know, Bill O'Brian not allowed
- 6:53Speaker 1: to talk to him. You can talk and they could
- 6:55Speaker 1: already be doing that for all we know. But you know,
- 6:57Speaker 1: he didn't have to be here to do that. Now,
- 6:59Speaker 1: maybe there is a time when they're not allowed to
- 7:00Speaker 1: talk at all, Like I don't know, Like didn't Brady
- 7:03Speaker 1: get in trouble for talking to Byron Leftwich but trying?
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah he went to the wrong house. Yeah, well that
- 7:08Speaker 1: didn't that have to do with COVID too, Paul, That's
- 7:11Speaker 1: what That's what I thought. It was, like, Yeah, you're
- 7:13Speaker 1: meeting during Yeah, I think that more time with COVID,
- 7:17Speaker 1: you weren't allowed to have anything, right, you know, but
- 7:20Speaker 1: but you know, so yeah, we all hope that Mac
- 7:23Speaker 1: is getting his mind right for the season. But you
- 7:26Speaker 1: don't have to be here right now, no vacation right now,
- 7:29Speaker 1: exactly right. And I think that's important topics and Max's not.
- 7:33Speaker 1: He's I don't local and that I wouldn't. I don't
- 7:36Speaker 1: want to be here and England right now. Every CBA
- 7:38Speaker 1: has gotten more strict about that and they've extended that
- 7:41Speaker 1: window for the players to not have to be here.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Ted Johnson told the story this morning back in two
- 7:45Speaker 1: thousand and two, when you know, you didn't have to
- 7:49Speaker 1: be here and to do your training, and he didn't,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know, for the whole off season. Um, and he
- 7:56Speaker 1: got buried on the depth chart because of it. So
- 8:00Speaker 1: it was kind of unspoken back then that we want
- 8:03Speaker 1: you here to do your training. It's it's it's gotten
- 8:07Speaker 1: even more strict since then. I believe that led to
- 8:10Speaker 1: that that infamous Week one game where he was among
- 8:14Speaker 1: the inactives, right, that was a huge thing, like just
- 8:17Speaker 1: starting inside linebackerups now he's not even active because if
- 8:21Speaker 1: he wasn't starting, he's not necessarily a core four special
- 8:25Speaker 1: team or what's your role? Yeah, now this is according
- 8:27Speaker 1: to Ted, of course, maybe there's another side, Yeah, story Yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's it's a player's side for sure. Yeah, I just
- 8:33Speaker 1: feel I'm kind of curious what brought this up with Zoe,
- 8:35Speaker 1: because I mean, like, I have issues with Mac, but
- 8:37Speaker 1: one of my issues is not like you're not working
- 8:39Speaker 1: hard enough off the field, You're not around enough, like
- 8:41Speaker 1: and and every video he's put up, he's six miles
- 8:44Speaker 1: down the road, so I and always Zoe knows that. Yeah,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I mean, well, you know, I mean, even though we're
- 8:49Speaker 1: in the midst of the Celtics, you know, being the
- 8:52Speaker 1: best team in the NBA, and the Bruins being the
- 8:54Speaker 1: best team in the NHL, and and you know, pictures
- 8:57Speaker 1: and catchers are reproported, still yees. Still on these on
- 9:03Speaker 1: Paul's shows, when they bring up football, people want to
- 9:06Speaker 1: talk about football. I mean they want to talk about
- 9:08Speaker 1: It's seventy five percent of the show is even in
- 9:10Speaker 1: the offseason, they're going to be Patriots related. And every
- 9:13Speaker 1: time they try to do an hour, they do, like
- 9:16Speaker 1: you could do an hour on Celtics, an hour and
- 9:17Speaker 1: Bruins and it's fine, but people are going to gravitate
- 9:20Speaker 1: back and forwards, so the Patriots. So max Naane comes
- 9:23Speaker 1: up almost every day on Paul's shows. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 1: on all shows, not just mine. Well, all shows are
- 9:29Speaker 1: Paul shows. Oh I wish our show, yeah, all shows. Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I wish someone else felt like you did. Fred. Well,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I think they do. Paul. You just gotta you just
- 9:37Speaker 1: gotta remind them you're like yourself, like the Rupert Murdoch
- 9:40Speaker 1: of Boston Radio. You've got all these stof away Like
- 9:43Speaker 1: I got an invite on the TV show the other night,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and it's like, guy, like, clearly I'm a fill in.
- 9:49Speaker 1: You're calling me like five hours before the show. I
- 9:52Speaker 1: can't do like, you know whatever, like playing koy like
- 9:55Speaker 1: nine o'clock. The boy, I just can't just drop everything
- 9:58Speaker 1: and do it by the way speak know. Um I
- 10:01Speaker 1: listened to Patch from the Past with Paul and No
- 10:06Speaker 1: Stocks in Mike Greece. Yet Different from the Past. It
- 10:11Speaker 1: was really good. It was really good. But um boy,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I didn't know I was such a kingmaker the way
- 10:17Speaker 1: they buttered me up in the beginning of that show.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I was I was blushing, wasn't it here? So I
- 10:23Speaker 1: spoke nicely about him? Yeah, I was blushing the way
- 10:26Speaker 1: they spoke about me. Thank you. But I don't know
- 10:28Speaker 1: if I deserve all that praise. What was you don't
- 10:30Speaker 1: I don't know if you do either. What was your
- 10:32Speaker 1: impression to Reese when he first got here. I remember
- 10:35Speaker 1: a little bit of it. But what did you think?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Was he a slam dunk knows to the grindstone? Great kid?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Just like when he says, like every day he pinches himself,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's true. Like the fact that he gets paid to
- 10:47Speaker 1: do what he does, he still can't believe. And I'll
- 10:51Speaker 1: remember the day that he didn't mention this in the show.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But we were at the old Stadium and it was
- 10:57Speaker 1: after a practice. I think it was around training camp. Um, no,
- 11:01Speaker 1: it wasn't because we were at Brian. I forget what
- 11:04Speaker 1: day it was. But like Kraft asked him if he
- 11:07Speaker 1: could drive Myra home, you know, like, and like he
- 11:10Speaker 1: came to me the next day he's like, yeah, you know,
- 11:13Speaker 1: Robert asked me, you know, if I could drive Myra home,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you know I did, And he's like, that's so cool.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Like you should look at it that way. I said,
- 11:23Speaker 1: if he asks you to drive his wife home, that
- 11:25Speaker 1: means he likes, he likes you, and he trusts you.
- 11:31Speaker 1: So yeah, you should look at it that way. Yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 1: you know, like, yeah, it's like the graduate drive and
- 11:35Speaker 1: missus Robinson. I didn't really that way, but you're still
- 11:40Speaker 1: like I've had to do that. I had to like
- 11:42Speaker 1: pick up the car, you know, do things like that
- 11:45Speaker 1: back in the day. Oh yeah, and you just do it,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you know. You young kids now it's like, that's not
- 11:51Speaker 1: part of my job description. No, no, no, And my
- 11:53Speaker 1: internship about us. And I was getting people Chipotle, I
- 11:55Speaker 1: was taking their car from washing. You're different, You're different,
- 11:58Speaker 1: You're different. I told the story. When I haven't a
- 12:00Speaker 1: normal work ethics for you, I would agree with that,
- 12:03Speaker 1: You're a catch. No, But like I've run into some
- 12:07Speaker 1: of these young kids now and it's like, uh, you know,
- 12:11Speaker 1: I want a copy of my job description. I want
- 12:13Speaker 1: it signed, you know, and I'll be working from home.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Yeah right. I When I worked for the talent agent
- 12:20Speaker 1: um in in La he porst he loved, loved more
- 12:24Speaker 1: than his wife, to be honest with you, um, and
- 12:26Speaker 1: he would get it cleaned a couple of doors down
- 12:29Speaker 1: in this building in the basement. They had an auto
- 12:31Speaker 1: detailing company for his porst that he loved so dearly,
- 12:34Speaker 1: and so he like, you know, after I've been there
- 12:35Speaker 1: for a little while. He was gonna let me go
- 12:37Speaker 1: get it and pick it up from the car detailing
- 12:39Speaker 1: and bring it back. And so I'm parent, I've never driven,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and this is like a nice Porsche. I think it's
- 12:44Speaker 1: like one of those nine elevens, like you know, just
- 12:47Speaker 1: sounds coming, you know, just sounds like one of those.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I couldn't figure out how to roll the window down,
- 12:51Speaker 1: so I'm trying to get out of the parking garage
- 12:52Speaker 1: and I'm like, how do you roll the window? You know?
- 12:54Speaker 1: And you know how tough it is when you're trying
- 12:56Speaker 1: to get out the window to get the tickets so
- 12:58Speaker 1: you can get out, And I to figure it out,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and I'm worried that I'm gonna like open the door,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and like there was like a button and a keppression
- 13:03Speaker 1: that it would like it would like go down for
- 13:05Speaker 1: a second, and I'm like, what is going on? And
- 13:07Speaker 1: people are back on me, and so I guess I
- 13:09Speaker 1: just I'm not. I finally like snaked my arm out
- 13:14Speaker 1: and around without trying to like bang the door on anything.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I was so terrified. He loved the car so much.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So did you ever figure out what you were doing wrong? No?
- 13:21Speaker 1: I never did, so if anyone could call in and
- 13:23Speaker 1: tell you how to work the windows at a poor
- 13:25Speaker 1: should really I've been wondering for twenty years the thing.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Oh it's tough, yeah, tough, tough, tough. But yeah, all right,
- 13:31Speaker 1: so let's let's give away our first T shirt. Let's
- 13:33Speaker 1: do it, shall we? Okay, So again I'm gonna say
- 13:37Speaker 1: the trivia question. Don't call. You can call, but not
- 13:40Speaker 1: about this. Email web Radio at Patrios dot com. The
- 13:44Speaker 1: first email that comes in with the right answer, and
- 13:47Speaker 1: of course emails are timestamps. So I think we'll we'll
- 13:49Speaker 1: get this right, they'll get a T shirt, um, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: then Matt Morrell will contact you via email, get your
- 13:55Speaker 1: address or anything. So here's the first one. Um, let's
- 13:59Speaker 1: see which one should be the first one? Okay? According
- 14:03Speaker 1: to Fred, what was the result of the push up
- 14:07Speaker 1: contest between him and Bighead Andy Hart? So that's the
- 14:11Speaker 1: first question. According to Fred, what was the result of
- 14:13Speaker 1: the push up contest between him and Bighead? Email the
- 14:18Speaker 1: answer to web Radio at Patriots dot com. And then
- 14:21Speaker 1: once we have a winner, we'll yeah, we'll announce it. Yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 1: we'll announce the winner, and then maybe we'll give another
- 14:27Speaker 1: question out later yeah, well we'll give a few more.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So if you don't win this one for the effort.
- 14:32Speaker 1: If you don't win this one, stay tuned. You'll have
- 14:34Speaker 1: another shot later in the show. So I love it. Yeah,
- 14:38Speaker 1: you need hoodies too, get hoodie getting greedy and getting
- 14:44Speaker 1: I'll tell you that we have one entry and it's wrong. Okay.
- 14:47Speaker 1: The high school uh yeah, don't talk about any of
- 14:50Speaker 1: the answers. You don't want to eliminate any possibilities. But
- 14:53Speaker 1: the high School Kickers for Abstinence line that was delivered
- 14:57Speaker 1: on Tuesday has gotten a lot of run on. I
- 14:59Speaker 1: saw that on the Twitter deservedly, so yeah, home run
- 15:02Speaker 1: grant slams to last week's show. I mean it does
- 15:04Speaker 1: sound doesn't sound like a real organization like high School
- 15:07Speaker 1: Kickers for Abstinence. It was. It was a little part
- 15:08Speaker 1: of the open if you've heard of high school Kickers
- 15:12Speaker 1: for Abstinence. Yeah, see, now you got to go in
- 15:14Speaker 1: and tell Chris what the answer is so he knows
- 15:16Speaker 1: there's one. I don't say it too loud. Mike Hot,
- 15:20Speaker 1: Mike Hot, Mike right. I love how many of these
- 15:23Speaker 1: have to do with Andy, Like the legacy is just yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 1: it's right here on paper. Well, Andy did create a
- 15:29Speaker 1: lot of conflict. Like I know I'm the arguer, but
- 15:32Speaker 1: Andy like really got under people's skin. Oh yeah, like
- 15:36Speaker 1: even worse than me when I first got here. That
- 15:38Speaker 1: was a common refrain of like, you're a place in
- 15:40Speaker 1: Andy is but the the the whole um. Eric had
- 15:47Speaker 1: him blocked on Twitter, like worked with him, had him blocked.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Oh my god. What about when they would pass each
- 15:52Speaker 1: other In all seriousness, Eric had everybody watched on Twitter. Okay,
- 15:58Speaker 1: we do have a we have a we have a winner.
- 16:01Speaker 1: The winner is Stephen Cobb and Easton, Maine. And the
- 16:06Speaker 1: correct answer is it was a tie according to me,
- 16:10Speaker 1: the reason being Andy did twice as many I did thirty,
- 16:13Speaker 1: He did sixty, but he went halfway. He did little
- 16:16Speaker 1: baby ones, So I declared it a tie. As only
- 16:21Speaker 1: Fred can I imagine. Andy attacked that with vigor. The
- 16:24Speaker 1: first like twenty push ups were probably done in about
- 16:26Speaker 1: four seconds. Oh yeah, and he didn't go all the
- 16:30Speaker 1: way up, no form, probably like oh yeah, that was
- 16:33Speaker 1: that was Fred's point. It was it was not proper
- 16:37Speaker 1: Jack Lolaine push ups. Okay, so you can stop e
- 16:40Speaker 1: mailing for that. We'll give you another question. We'll do
- 16:43Speaker 1: another question later. Yeah, so Stephen got it right, Stephen Maine.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So Steve, uh, you could actually just go ahead and
- 16:52Speaker 1: at web radio and send us your address and we'll
- 16:55Speaker 1: get you out of T shirt with the size. We know,
- 16:58Speaker 1: we need to know your correct size. So that's good.
- 17:01Speaker 1: A lot of people, Wow, they just they just came
- 17:03Speaker 1: flying in. Excellent. We gotta maybe do something with these
- 17:06Speaker 1: at training camp. You know, we have all those people.
- 17:08Speaker 1: But when you're doing your hype machine, we could get
- 17:11Speaker 1: a T shirt launcher. Will Evan come down and help
- 17:13Speaker 1: you hype up the crowd because that time for practice.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Imagine hyping up the crowd. So keep an eye on
- 17:20Speaker 1: L two on the kickoff and see if he maintains
- 17:24Speaker 1: his gap integrity. That's great. We got to bring that
- 17:28Speaker 1: up when he comes down. It's perfect. I've always wanted
- 17:30Speaker 1: to like throw T shirts into a crowd and just
- 17:32Speaker 1: I feel like, I mean, winch room. When you can
- 17:34Speaker 1: shoot him, I mean you can get you need to
- 17:36Speaker 1: come on. You gotta have the T shirt gun. Oh
- 17:37Speaker 1: yeah right, yeah, but how far do we need to
- 17:39Speaker 1: send him at training camp? Like end up on so
- 17:41Speaker 1: you go for like the five yard line, like the
- 17:43Speaker 1: opposite thirty. You ain't for injury like you try to
- 17:47Speaker 1: like injure for the smallest, most innocent child. And yeah, yeah,
- 17:51Speaker 1: right off the head. So someone mistakes me for Zoe
- 17:54Speaker 1: this year. Zo got the shirt on right, swear some
- 17:58Speaker 1: black aviators. I have a pair, can borrow do That's
- 18:00Speaker 1: all I need, all right, So we put the whole
- 18:03Speaker 1: Mac Zoe thing on the table. Yeah, just one of
- 18:06Speaker 1: the thing of interest. I'm sorry, Duce. I was just
- 18:08Speaker 1: gonna say Vance Joseph the bronch. Okay, that's exactly I
- 18:10Speaker 1: was gonna go with Matt Patricia. But you know, you
- 18:12Speaker 1: know the angle that he um was evidently one of
- 18:17Speaker 1: the gentleman who interviewed for the vacant him and Rex
- 18:20Speaker 1: Ryan with two of the ones that did not get
- 18:23Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator job at Denver. I have a little
- 18:26Speaker 1: bit of a theory on the Matt Patricia angle, but
- 18:29Speaker 1: m Vance Joseph just you know, in of course, Twitter
- 18:32Speaker 1: never disappoints like the Sergio dipp references were out in
- 18:36Speaker 1: full force with Vance Joseph going back to Denver. I
- 18:38Speaker 1: did I know your theory. That's the funniest thing I
- 18:40Speaker 1: ever heard, Like live like you know when you like,
- 18:43Speaker 1: you wake up the next day and you go on
- 18:44Speaker 1: Twitter and you're like, oh, that's great, like like one
- 18:47Speaker 1: of those like silly stupid things. I actually heard it
- 18:50Speaker 1: live and I was like, what is this guy talking? Well,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you know, they went to him on the sideline, and
- 18:56Speaker 1: you're supposed to have prepared, you know, things to say
- 18:59Speaker 1: when they go to you, and you're like, man, I
- 19:02Speaker 1: know you prepared this, but and where you're going? He is?
- 19:06Speaker 1: But that was that was the end of it, you know,
- 19:08Speaker 1: like even the whole build up to it was like
- 19:10Speaker 1: what is he doing? Where's he going with this? Having? Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 1: the time of his kid, and then the thing later
- 19:17Speaker 1: that night that might have been worse from his bed
- 19:19Speaker 1: in the hotel, the Miacopa the reflection I didn't know
- 19:22Speaker 1: from this hotel and oh he did that an apology
- 19:24Speaker 1: video having the time I was sitting on his bed
- 19:27Speaker 1: on Monday, four kid football. I just est platform. I
- 19:33Speaker 1: just felt so bad for Do you remember seeing this?
- 19:35Speaker 1: Did you see any of this stuff? You were probably
- 19:37Speaker 1: like four. I remember like the lore of it, but
- 19:40Speaker 1: not I never knew what it was till this year
- 19:42Speaker 1: when they played him in Arizona and they're all having
- 19:44Speaker 1: the time of his life. Guy. We played the quote
- 19:46Speaker 1: all the time here, never put it together that it
- 19:48Speaker 1: was actually advanced Joseph that was the one having the time.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I was like, Paul, can I take a crack at
- 19:52Speaker 1: what your what your thing is, what your theory is
- 19:54Speaker 1: about the mapetriction? I take it? Swing on it? Go ahead,
- 19:57Speaker 1: Oh God, really help us out. Maybe, Sean, if you good,
- 20:00Speaker 1: interview Matt for a job. So I don't know if
- 20:03Speaker 1: that though, I don't know if that means I've become
- 20:04Speaker 1: stale and predictable or if you really thought that way too.
- 20:12Speaker 1: But it just came to me when you said you
- 20:13Speaker 1: had a theory, I'm like, what my theory is a
- 20:15Speaker 1: shot a job? Great? Well you help me? Yeah, I
- 20:20Speaker 1: mean you're interviewing Max Ryan. I mean, come on, yeah. True?
- 20:25Speaker 1: For all we know, though, if if Bill has a
- 20:28Speaker 1: relationship with Sean Payton, maybe Matt does too. You know,
- 20:31Speaker 1: maybe Bill didn't even have to say that. Maybe he
- 20:33Speaker 1: was just a friend and a friend a solid. But
- 20:36Speaker 1: I don't know. So if okay, so he didn't get
- 20:39Speaker 1: this job, and let's assume that, I mean, there's still
- 20:41Speaker 1: a lot of coaching movement going on. Um, let's say
- 20:46Speaker 1: he doesn't get a job anywhere, do you think he'll
- 20:48Speaker 1: be back? I don't know. I was just wondering that
- 20:49Speaker 1: it does you have to like go to college a goal?
- 20:51Speaker 1: So what do you guys think of it? If if
- 20:53Speaker 1: Judge and Patricia are back part of the staff. Does
- 20:56Speaker 1: that bother anybody but me? I just bothered by things
- 21:00Speaker 1: somebody was saying to me today, say like, let's just
- 21:02Speaker 1: say he stays and all season the narrative is, Wow,
- 21:06Speaker 1: this offense looks a lot better than it did last year,
- 21:08Speaker 1: Like how is that for him? That's being here and
- 21:11Speaker 1: having to listen to that every day? That's and it
- 21:13Speaker 1: feels to me a little optics like they're they're trying
- 21:15Speaker 1: to manage that and not have that Like I just
- 21:17Speaker 1: feel like he's all of a sudden mention of him,
- 21:20Speaker 1: like nothing right. This is gonna be strange for you guys.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna be the mac Jones defender an apologist here,
- 21:26Speaker 1: Like how does he feel like these two guys who
- 21:29Speaker 1: destroyed a whole year of my career are still a here?
- 21:32Speaker 1: Like you didn't think they were bad enough to lose
- 21:34Speaker 1: their jobs and after they what they just did to
- 21:36Speaker 1: me but yeah, but you the way you phrase it,
- 21:38Speaker 1: though I disagree with what they did to me, that's
- 21:42Speaker 1: what he thinks, I know. I think I think he
- 21:44Speaker 1: doesn't think that they did a good job. But I
- 21:46Speaker 1: don't think for you. I don't think he thinks they
- 21:48Speaker 1: were doing to him it was like I don't like
- 21:51Speaker 1: what you're doing. But I don't think it was like
- 21:53Speaker 1: you're doing it to me. I think he just didn't
- 21:56Speaker 1: like them as their coach, and that can happen. And
- 21:58Speaker 1: I think I would hope if they were here it'd
- 22:01Speaker 1: be like, all right, So you think mac Jones would
- 22:04Speaker 1: look at it and say, I don't think they did
- 22:06Speaker 1: a good job as coaches, but as long as they're
- 22:07Speaker 1: not coaching me, it's fine. Yeah, And I think less
- 22:11Speaker 1: of mac Jones, No, no, no, But I don't think
- 22:13Speaker 1: mac Jones would get mac Jones. I would think mac
- 22:16Speaker 1: Jones would say these guys weren't weren't good at what
- 22:18Speaker 1: they do. I don't want them part of the team.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I don't want them coaching. Oh No, I don't think that.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I don't think he would do that. I mean, I
- 22:23Speaker 1: think if they're in some other roles, it's going to
- 22:26Speaker 1: do right. If they're not. If they're not, if they're
- 22:29Speaker 1: in some of the role, that's not affecting him, Like
- 22:32Speaker 1: he'd be like, Okay, they were asked to do these jobs,
- 22:34Speaker 1: they didn't do a good job, and they're doing something
- 22:37Speaker 1: else now and we're professionals, and and it's I'm not
- 22:41Speaker 1: holding a grudge because now I have a new coordinator.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I've turned the page, and so is the team, and
- 22:46Speaker 1: like I would hope that's that would be the attitude.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I don't want them anywhere near me. Oh cooties, I mean,
- 22:53Speaker 1: what what? But I'm not suggesting that he doesn't have
- 22:55Speaker 1: the power to do that. I'm not suggesting he's going
- 22:57Speaker 1: to go to Bill and say I want those guys
- 22:58Speaker 1: out of here. He's not gonna do that. No, But
- 23:01Speaker 1: I think it's disrespectful to him. And they have two
- 23:03Speaker 1: guys that failed so spectacularly not have any repercussions for
- 23:07Speaker 1: from it, and you just want to that's my point.
- 23:09Speaker 1: How much how much how much weight they have in
- 23:10Speaker 1: the locker room still or has that had the last season?
- 23:13Speaker 1: Like can they go do other things to make it
- 23:14Speaker 1: like it was a malicious thing that they did. It's not.
- 23:17Speaker 1: They just weren't ready. They just weren't competent for that job.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And also Mac probably isn't the only one that feels
- 23:23Speaker 1: this way. It's probably a collective of the whole team did.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Obviously they made the change. Thank you. Defensive players felt
- 23:30Speaker 1: pet Way. No, but like I don't I agree with Alex,
- 23:33Speaker 1: Like how would you feel, Paul? I would want them out?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Why because I don't think they were good at what
- 23:38Speaker 1: they did. Okay, so now they can't work for us anymore. No,
- 23:42Speaker 1: especially I gave it us Judge, I know, like that
- 23:45Speaker 1: that story indicated that Joe Judge had his hands in everything.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Well they had that he didn't have any jurisdictional But like,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I need that guy gone. But Paul, we made the
- 23:54Speaker 1: We made the analogy, you know, a couple of weeks ago,
- 23:57Speaker 1: like what if I asked you to do something one
- 23:59Speaker 1: year or that you've never done before and you didn't
- 24:01Speaker 1: do it well? So after that, okay, so what was it?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Well whatever being a video guy, okay, and you weren't
- 24:07Speaker 1: good at it, And after that year we say, all right,
- 24:09Speaker 1: you're back to writing, Like okay, should Chris Gogelo say
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't want him here? He did a bad job
- 24:15Speaker 1: for me, okay, So when I was doing the video
- 24:18Speaker 1: part that I couldn't do, yeh, was I then going
- 24:20Speaker 1: over to the editing department and telling them how they
- 24:22Speaker 1: should do that? And then what was I going over
- 24:24Speaker 1: to the writing department and say, you guys need to
- 24:26Speaker 1: start that all over it again. And when was I
- 24:28Speaker 1: then going over to the football area and saying, you
- 24:31Speaker 1: guys don't have any idea what you're doing, because that's
- 24:33Speaker 1: what allegedly allegedly right Joe Judge. That's what football is
- 24:38Speaker 1: all about. It's a bunch of alpha guys all thinking
- 24:40Speaker 1: they're right and holding the ground and right. I think
- 24:43Speaker 1: Mac thinks he's right and he's holding his ground, and
- 24:46Speaker 1: Joe Judge thinks he's right. I don't think that's a
- 24:47Speaker 1: good situation. But that happens on every team, even when
- 24:50Speaker 1: they're winning. Like there's different Like these guys are always arguing.
- 24:54Speaker 1: You know, I'm telling you I don't. I would hope
- 24:57Speaker 1: that you turn the page. You act professional. He's not.
- 25:02Speaker 1: He's not involved anymore. He's doing something else. He's not
- 25:06Speaker 1: involved anymore than fine, Well yeah he's not. But it
- 25:08Speaker 1: sounds like they're going to be in It sounds like
- 25:10Speaker 1: definitely Joe Judge is involved. Yeah, that's that sounds like
- 25:12Speaker 1: he is on the staff. Yeah, because he was, based
- 25:14Speaker 1: on a lot of reports on the staff doing what.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I don't care. Well, what if he's doing special teams, Paul,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I don't care. He has already proven he can't stay
- 25:24Speaker 1: in this lane. He's not going to just do special teams.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So you're saying it's it's not a competency, it's a personality. Yes,
- 25:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. If it's that, then
- 25:34Speaker 1: he should have been gone already well, based on that story,
- 25:36Speaker 1: based out of his reputation in New York when he
- 25:39Speaker 1: was there. I'm hard to you don't know anything, but
- 25:43Speaker 1: it's hard to assume it. I don't think mac Jones
- 25:48Speaker 1: will publicly rip these guys and say it's it's them
- 25:54Speaker 1: or me, like I want them out. I don't think
- 25:56Speaker 1: that will ever happen, But I think inside internally he'll
- 26:00Speaker 1: look at that as this is what they thought of me.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't I don't think so. I think I think
- 26:05Speaker 1: Max's more of a grow and I look at the
- 26:07Speaker 1: zoact thing in the same kind of thing. Yeah, I
- 26:10Speaker 1: don't know. I don't I if if, if they don't
- 26:14Speaker 1: have hands in the offense. I don't think Max should care,
- 26:19Speaker 1: you know, like I don't want people losing their job,
- 26:22Speaker 1: you know, like because I just I just feel like
- 26:26Speaker 1: until this point, and I mean this was I mean,
- 26:28Speaker 1: I just felt like he was on the outs, Like
- 26:30Speaker 1: when he wasn't at the Shrine Bowl. You haven't heard
- 26:32Speaker 1: any mention of him, and then all of a sudden
- 26:33Speaker 1: you hear he's interviewing for this job. It just it
- 26:36Speaker 1: sounds to me like reading between the lines, that that
- 26:38Speaker 1: they feel kind of like, no, I don't know exactly
- 26:40Speaker 1: like Paul, but they feel like he's he's he's probably
- 26:43Speaker 1: well it's gonna work around here. What that tells me
- 26:45Speaker 1: is that whatever, if he does have a role here,
- 26:48Speaker 1: it's a diminished role, and he might as well be looking. Yeah. No,
- 26:53Speaker 1: I mean like I don't think I would, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 1: if he goes back up to the Ernie Adams role.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I don't think it's that kind of the world totally different,
- 26:58Speaker 1: you know, not on the step. Yeah, yeah, I'm okay
- 27:00Speaker 1: with that. If he does that, should Matt Mac shouldn't.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I don't think Mac would care about that. That's what
- 27:04Speaker 1: I'm saying. That's what I'm But if he's a coach,
- 27:06Speaker 1: then then I would care about that power Mac. Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I think the question though, is like, you know, where
- 27:09Speaker 1: is Joe Judge gonna land? Is he gonna go back
- 27:11Speaker 1: to special teams? Is this you know, how does it
- 27:13Speaker 1: affect effect cam Acord. I think that's I just I
- 27:16Speaker 1: think Matt Patricia's out. I think he's I don't think
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think Patricia's out and Judges in. And I hate
- 27:21Speaker 1: to say it like this, but I think it's because
- 27:24Speaker 1: Patricia's contract is up and Judges isn't. Yeah, yeah, it
- 27:27Speaker 1: could be. It could be money. Now, I don't know
- 27:30Speaker 1: any money, as is often the case, fred I fully,
- 27:33Speaker 1: I want to get everything on the table. I know nothing. Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: No one is like whispering behind you know, behind closed doors,
- 27:41Speaker 1: um about how the things are going to be situated
- 27:43Speaker 1: this year. But my guess is I don't think you'll
- 27:46Speaker 1: see Matt Patricia on the staff, and I think based
- 27:49Speaker 1: on what a lot of people are writing, I think
- 27:51Speaker 1: we will see Joe Judge. Yeah. And you know it's
- 27:54Speaker 1: it really is interesting because if you go back a
- 27:57Speaker 1: year before last year, you know what Patricia was doing
- 28:01Speaker 1: was mostly in scouting and personnel, putting in platforms, actually
- 28:04Speaker 1: hiring people, putting in systems in place, and all that
- 28:08Speaker 1: stuff analytics. And I was surprised when he went back
- 28:11Speaker 1: to coaching, because I thought that was the trajectory he
- 28:13Speaker 1: was on. But now I'm also surprised that both Elliot
- 28:18Speaker 1: Wolf and Matt grow is still here. I thought one
- 28:22Speaker 1: would leave, you know, because it's getting to be crowded.
- 28:25Speaker 1: So now I think the fact that Elliot's still here,
- 28:29Speaker 1: maybe there's not room for Patricia. Maybe there's no place
- 28:32Speaker 1: to go back to. Maybe, you know, since that year,
- 28:36Speaker 1: Elliot's done more and Matt's done more and we don't
- 28:38Speaker 1: need a third guy here, you know. I don't know. Again,
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm like, well, I don't know. I'm just well, what
- 28:45Speaker 1: about Evan Roston came with Matt Patricia too from Detroit?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Is he going to stick around? You know? Is he
- 28:50Speaker 1: part of it? And I mean you brought that up,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Fred about he was kind of doing some stuff behind
- 28:54Speaker 1: the scenes personnel, Like how did that stuff go? Were
- 28:57Speaker 1: they happy with that stuff? Is this part of the
- 28:59Speaker 1: reason too, why maybe it didn't either. I don't know.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I just I mean, there is a part of me
- 29:04Speaker 1: that that finds it hard to believe that he would
- 29:07Speaker 1: just be out based on like like you're saying, like
- 29:09Speaker 1: you got he put in the position. Maybe he asked
- 29:11Speaker 1: for it, maybe he didn't, but you know, we all
- 29:14Speaker 1: felt like, man, he's in a tough spot right here,
- 29:16Speaker 1: and then he fails and then he's like completely out,
- 29:18Speaker 1: Like I just I get the contracts stuff. That the
- 29:20Speaker 1: way you said that too, though, because I do want
- 29:22Speaker 1: to say, like, this is not like a personal thing,
- 29:25Speaker 1: like I don't think it's fair what happened to Matt
- 29:28Speaker 1: Patricia last year, but at the same time, you know,
- 29:34Speaker 1: it is something that he ended up doing and if
- 29:37Speaker 1: he like if Fred like to use the and I
- 29:40Speaker 1: don't like using every day, every man analogies because I
- 29:44Speaker 1: don't think they ever work when you compare sports to
- 29:47Speaker 1: real life. But to use Fred's analogy, if Fred goes
- 29:50Speaker 1: to me and says, well, we need you to do
- 29:51Speaker 1: the video, I would say, I have I don't know
- 29:54Speaker 1: how to do that, yeah, and I can't do that
- 29:56Speaker 1: right now. If Fred says, well, it's either that or
- 29:59Speaker 1: you're out of it. Job again, real life is different
- 30:03Speaker 1: than sports. Like if I'm sports and I've made millions
- 30:06Speaker 1: of dollars as a former head coach, I say, see if, if,
- 30:11Speaker 1: if that's my only option now, if Fred says the
- 30:13Speaker 1: only option to stay on is to do video, I'm
- 30:16Speaker 1: gonna I'll have a video for Dummy's book tomorrow and
- 30:19Speaker 1: I'll do the best I can because I can't afford
- 30:21Speaker 1: to just be out of work. Well and keep going
- 30:23Speaker 1: with it too. And Fred says to you, and I
- 30:25Speaker 1: got this hot shot young producer video guy that you
- 30:28Speaker 1: know is really important to us. We really want him
- 30:30Speaker 1: to develop and you know, develop into a leader. I
- 30:32Speaker 1: need you to do it. You know, it's like it's
- 30:33Speaker 1: it's not even just taking you out of what you're doing,
- 30:35Speaker 1: You're also putting a lot of responsibility on me. The
- 30:39Speaker 1: more I think it like I was on board, I
- 30:41Speaker 1: shouldn't have been. You just don't really like I want
- 30:45Speaker 1: to kill you for this, but I can't because I
- 30:47Speaker 1: just don't think that you were really on board. No,
- 30:49Speaker 1: I just think you wanted to believe in the franchise
- 30:52Speaker 1: that we've all believed so strongly in for twenty years.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I really still do value the experience that any head
- 30:58Speaker 1: coach has in this year, in this league, and I
- 31:01Speaker 1: think it's unlike anything else and I think that, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: to take that and then move down. I think it's doable.
- 31:09Speaker 1: But that's coaching. That's just coaching. This being an offensive
- 31:14Speaker 1: coordinator and like you said, you throw that in there.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Having to develop this kid is a whole different set
- 31:21Speaker 1: of skills, you know than just coaching the old line. Yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 1: you know, it's a whole different thing, especially where you know,
- 31:29Speaker 1: I mean I hate getting into like generational and millennials
- 31:32Speaker 1: and all that stuff, but I mean, you know, he
- 31:33Speaker 1: there is I mean, Matt Patricia in the league a
- 31:35Speaker 1: long time, cut his teeth going with you know, Junior
- 31:39Speaker 1: say out Teddy Bruski, old school kind of football guys,
- 31:41Speaker 1: and you know, it's it's just another layer to the
- 31:44Speaker 1: challenge of you know, trying to motivate kids these days,
- 31:46Speaker 1: and you know, what makes them go? How do you
- 31:48Speaker 1: how do you you know, get them to perform at
- 31:50Speaker 1: a high level. It's it's a whole other can it geteah?
- 31:52Speaker 1: And you know, like you can say that, like Teddy
- 31:55Speaker 1: Bruski and Junior say out how much coaching did they
- 31:58Speaker 1: require from Matt Patricia? You know, yeah, probably not a lot,
- 32:02Speaker 1: you know, And that's like, and I think to your point, Fred,
- 32:04Speaker 1: like I think last no, and you know, I think
- 32:07Speaker 1: this is all I just I can't help but feel
- 32:09Speaker 1: a little bit bad from appetriction and still feel like
- 32:11Speaker 1: he has value to offer the game of football in
- 32:13Speaker 1: some capacity and right now he's just being killed by
- 32:16Speaker 1: everybody because of this. And look, I'm not trying to
- 32:18Speaker 1: say that he shouldn't be or that last year wasn't
- 32:20Speaker 1: a disaster. It's just hard to look at a guy
- 32:22Speaker 1: who clearly has absorbed a ton of football from some
- 32:25Speaker 1: of the greatest football minds, some of the greatest football
- 32:27Speaker 1: players over the last twenty years and say like this
- 32:29Speaker 1: guy sucks and should be out of the league. Like
- 32:31Speaker 1: I just, you know, on a personal level, I just think.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And I would even argue to back up the rest
- 32:36Speaker 1: of your point, and this is like really, you know,
- 32:39Speaker 1: impossible to prove because it's not going to happen. But
- 32:42Speaker 1: I would make an argument that the offense could be very,
- 32:45Speaker 1: very similar next year and it will not be attacked
- 32:48Speaker 1: the way it was this year. They will they will
- 32:51Speaker 1: not be vicious attacks on Bill O'Brien. I disagree. I
- 32:55Speaker 1: think he's under a lot of pressure. This offense looks,
- 32:58Speaker 1: but this year, the way it did last year. I
- 33:00Speaker 1: think people will be here with pitchforks and torches for who,
- 33:05Speaker 1: for the for Bill Belichick, Okay, Bill O'Brien, and for
- 33:08Speaker 1: Mac Jones. We'll see. We'll see what they have for
- 33:12Speaker 1: We'll see what they have for weapons. You got to
- 33:14Speaker 1: divvy it up. It's it's tough oul. Mac. If he
- 33:17Speaker 1: if he, if they have the same cast of characters
- 33:19Speaker 1: back on offense, you gotta get him, Chase. He keeps
- 33:22Speaker 1: saying teflon Mac, and I still hear on his shows
- 33:26Speaker 1: the people who call in are at least fifty fifty
- 33:29Speaker 1: on that subject, that Max's not the guy. Wait a minute,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I hear that all the time. Are you comparing like
- 33:34Speaker 1: the calls? Yeah, the callers, Okay, the fans, the people
- 33:37Speaker 1: who spend the money to come to the game. That's
- 33:40Speaker 1: not a cross section of the people. The people who
- 33:42Speaker 1: call those shows, yeah, are almost entirely negative. Okay, Well,
- 33:46Speaker 1: because because you're talking to you talking about media people
- 33:52Speaker 1: were the people who cover the team. I'm gonna have
- 33:54Speaker 1: a round table in my living room. You can come.
- 33:56Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about Matt Who else am I are
- 33:58Speaker 1: you listening to about this? I don't I get about
- 34:02Speaker 1: the media. This is not this is not hard to understand.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I'm not talking about the media. Like Tom Curran said,
- 34:08Speaker 1: you could trade Mac Jones over Robert Kraft's dead body
- 34:11Speaker 1: two days ago, right, Like, so he's accomplished so much,
- 34:15Speaker 1: you know that we can't even broach the topic that
- 34:17Speaker 1: if someone came to the Patriots looking to deal for Mac,
- 34:20Speaker 1: we can't even listen. Again, I don't care what the
- 34:23Speaker 1: media says. Okay, well that's the only talking about the
- 34:26Speaker 1: paying public. Okay, Well, you have no way of knowing
- 34:29Speaker 1: what the pay in public thinks. I do when they
- 34:31Speaker 1: call in the show that is over the top negativity,
- 34:35Speaker 1: Fred on Sports Radio, Come on, I'm saying it's fifty fifty.
- 34:38Speaker 1: It's not over the top. It's over the top negativity.
- 34:41Speaker 1: For the most part, the hosts are the host You go,
- 34:44Speaker 1: Matt Morrell, I see you in the uniform. The hosts are.
- 34:46Speaker 1: But a lot of the callers give their opinion and
- 34:49Speaker 1: I think it's fifty fifties. No, you have that opposite.
- 34:52Speaker 1: If you're gonna call a radio station, yeah, if you're
- 34:55Speaker 1: gonna take the time, yeah, you're not going on to say, wow,
- 35:00Speaker 1: what a wonderful job they did. People don't do that.
- 35:04Speaker 1: But the fact that it's fifty fifty, I think is
- 35:06Speaker 1: it says something. You know, it's fifty fifty after last year,
- 35:10Speaker 1: you think that's a positive. I think it is. What
- 35:14Speaker 1: it is, that's over the top all. I'm just saying
- 35:16Speaker 1: it should be a thousand percent negative based on what
- 35:19Speaker 1: they did last year on Mac. Yes, based on what
- 35:22Speaker 1: the offense didn't see. That's your opinion, based on what
- 35:25Speaker 1: the offense did last year. But now you look at
- 35:28Speaker 1: why and if you think it's Mac, that's my point.
- 35:30Speaker 1: That's your opinion. You think it's because of Mac. No,
- 35:34Speaker 1: I think it's because of a lot of reasons. Okay,
- 35:36Speaker 1: not just because of Mac. I think Matt, Patricia and
- 35:39Speaker 1: Joe Judge had a big part of that. Well that's
- 35:41Speaker 1: that's that's all part of the conversation. But I'm just
- 35:44Speaker 1: saying that, and I'm I'm giving you a prediction that
- 35:46Speaker 1: if the offense is similarly dismal this year, Yeah, it
- 35:49Speaker 1: will be about the lack of weaponry. That will be
- 35:52Speaker 1: the human cry if especially if they don't get any tackles.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I think I think there will protect them. I think
- 35:57Speaker 1: that will I think those people who are Mac. People
- 36:00Speaker 1: will say that absolutely, and those who now are saying
- 36:03Speaker 1: it's it's him will continue to say it's him. You know,
- 36:08Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta find these Max super fans. I don't.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I don't haven't seen. I don't. I've seen a lot
- 36:12Speaker 1: of them. They're not allowed allowed. Well, he thinks that
- 36:14Speaker 1: everybody's a Max super fan. Teflon Mackie called him, Okay,
- 36:19Speaker 1: I'm not talking about fans. I don't know why you
- 36:22Speaker 1: keep bringing up fans. I'm talking about the people who
- 36:24Speaker 1: cover the team. I know. But who can can you
- 36:25Speaker 1: name me one guy who covers the team that thinks
- 36:28Speaker 1: that they should move on from Mac Jones. I'd have
- 36:31Speaker 1: to look, I'd have to look at my notes. Um,
- 36:34Speaker 1: you know not. I think I think there are plenty
- 36:37Speaker 1: of New York giants beat writers that felt they should
- 36:40Speaker 1: move on from Daniel Jones last year. But listen, you
- 36:44Speaker 1: might be right about the about you know, the media,
- 36:48Speaker 1: but you know who's buckets of water they're carrying. I
- 36:51Speaker 1: don't know, you know, but I'm telling you who. I
- 36:55Speaker 1: heard this in June. I heard the excuses start. I'm June.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I'm just I know what happened. The agent was outstanding
- 37:02Speaker 1: and getting his message out there. So so when Zoe says,
- 37:05Speaker 1: I hope he's in the building, is that on his
- 37:07Speaker 1: own he's on a different He's on a different Okay,
- 37:10Speaker 1: that's a different water carrier. Okay, that's a different alignment. Okay,
- 37:14Speaker 1: all right, But but I'm just saying I think I
- 37:16Speaker 1: think in terms of just the zeitgeist, I think that
- 37:21Speaker 1: it's split on Mac. I don't I think it's even
- 37:25Speaker 1: even even on your zeitgeist. I don't think it's split.
- 37:28Speaker 1: I don't think it's seventy seventy thirty in favor. And
- 37:32Speaker 1: I think a lot of and by the way, I think, yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 1: well that's unfortunate, right, And that's unfortunate if if you
- 37:41Speaker 1: don't want indifference in apathy, that's even worse than you know,
- 37:45Speaker 1: the negativity. But I think, by the way, I think
- 37:47Speaker 1: a lot of people who believe that most of the
- 37:51Speaker 1: problems were Matt Patricia, you know, the coaching and that
- 37:54Speaker 1: whole situation, also think Mac may not be the guy,
- 37:59Speaker 1: you know, I mean, that's he didn't that's that's where
- 38:02Speaker 1: I would find he didn't rise above, right, you know,
- 38:05Speaker 1: I think he caused a lot of it. Yeah, that's
- 38:07Speaker 1: where I would find and I think a lot of
- 38:08Speaker 1: fans agree with it. I got yelled at today by
- 38:10Speaker 1: somebody in the building for saying that, By the way, okay,
- 38:15Speaker 1: it's a guy who loves absolutely every player in the
- 38:17Speaker 1: NFL except for one who's largely considered one of the
- 38:19Speaker 1: greatest guy who's ever played in the NFL. David Bethlen's
- 38:22Speaker 1: spread is naive. Judge and Patricia should go. Other coaches
- 38:26Speaker 1: will feel their shadows. Players will too, not just Mac
- 38:30Speaker 1: in their set for comparisons leagues intentional or not. Paul
- 38:33Speaker 1: is right, Judge can't stay in his lane turn the
- 38:35Speaker 1: page right. Do you think though this year, like I
- 38:38Speaker 1: feel getting into training camp, I'm having seen last year
- 38:42Speaker 1: as an example of bad offense that I'm more educated
- 38:44Speaker 1: to see what happens at training camp. Like, like last year,
- 38:47Speaker 1: you could just tell how clunky it was right from
- 38:49Speaker 1: the get go. I think this year, you know, with
- 38:51Speaker 1: the Bill O'Brien, I feel like you have something to
- 38:53Speaker 1: compare it to. It's hard last year, you've only seen
- 38:55Speaker 1: Josh McDaniels offense. I think that's a great point. We've
- 38:58Speaker 1: seen the best and we've seen pretty bad now, so
- 39:02Speaker 1: now let's see where this falls. You know, we've got
- 39:04Speaker 1: a pretty good That's why when I started this whole kerfuffle,
- 39:08Speaker 1: I said, it's it's going to be impossible, because there's
- 39:11Speaker 1: no way it's going to be the same. I mean,
- 39:13Speaker 1: it's going to be better because you have a competent offensive. Cord,
- 39:15Speaker 1: and I do agree with your point, Paul. I mean,
- 39:17Speaker 1: we talked a lot about the weapons thing. But I
- 39:18Speaker 1: think I think that there's plenty of us out there
- 39:21Speaker 1: that are saying it's too early to move on from him.
- 39:23Speaker 1: But this is a prove it year and he's up
- 39:25Speaker 1: against it. And I think next offseason, if he doesn't
- 39:27Speaker 1: have a great year, you'll there will be a very
- 39:30Speaker 1: vocal kind of group that is like, let's get moving on,
- 39:33Speaker 1: all right, Foods here, We're gonna take a break. When
- 39:35Speaker 1: we come back, I'll have another trivia question, another T

- 50:09Speaker 1: he's a friend of Eric, yes, isn't that proper? Isn't
- 50:12Speaker 1: a friend of Eric's redundant? Yes? If he belongs to Eric,
- 50:15Speaker 1: that's what the of means. It's possessive. So why do
- 50:17Speaker 1: we involve Eric's That's a good one, Like you don't
- 50:21Speaker 1: you know, friend Eric's friend would be proper. But if
- 50:24Speaker 1: you say he's a friend of Eric, that's also proper. Now, yes,
- 50:27Speaker 1: but a lot of people people would say a friend
- 50:29Speaker 1: of Eric's right, Now, I don't. I don't know that
- 50:32Speaker 1: I'm right. I don't know that I'm right about that one,
- 50:34Speaker 1: So I'm not being also right. That's how ied, That's
- 50:38Speaker 1: how I would write it. Grammar, deep diving. Yes, ap
- 50:41Speaker 1: parolo English, I know very specific. I know you just
- 50:46Speaker 1: got on a blog and just wrote on your own.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Some of us had to go to college and learn
- 50:50Speaker 1: how to do it perfect. Elitism a very good one.
- 50:56Speaker 1: But that's another great moment from all right, back in
- 51:02Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered, it's duce, it's Alex, Paul, myself, Matt in
- 51:06Speaker 1: the booth. Webmaster Chris filled in for a little bit,
- 51:09Speaker 1: uh faith, we have cast a thousand ye. Before you
- 51:14Speaker 1: move on to the calls and the emails? Ye, Alex,
- 51:17Speaker 1: do you have a thought on the possessive there? So
- 51:19Speaker 1: if you say like Alex's friend or a friend of Alex,
- 51:23Speaker 1: either one is acceptable. Would you need to say a
- 51:26Speaker 1: friend of Alex's I think of show's possession right? Okay
- 51:30Speaker 1: with me? The possessive that's smart. That's why she's my favorite. Smart.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Um Before before the break, we gave away a T
- 51:39Speaker 1: shirt with a trivia question. We'll do another one. Um Shady, though,
- 51:42Speaker 1: writes in says that my answer that it was a
- 51:45Speaker 1: tie is inaccurate, and he points to a tweet that
- 51:48Speaker 1: I made about how I beat Andy. I did say that,
- 51:52Speaker 1: that's no doubt. But my last official statement on the
- 51:55Speaker 1: situation was made on the show with Andy in the
- 51:59Speaker 1: room where I said it was a tie. So, I
- 52:02Speaker 1: mean you said today we're gonna you're the boss. You
- 52:04Speaker 1: said so at the very beginning of the show, when
- 52:06Speaker 1: I said I love a lot of friends trivia questions.
- 52:09Speaker 1: I don't know the answer to some of them. That
- 52:11Speaker 1: was one of the ones I didn't know the answer to. Yeah,
- 52:13Speaker 1: and now, not surprisingly, he's answered that question different ways,
- 52:17Speaker 1: the master of moving the goal post in the middle
- 52:18Speaker 1: of arguments? Weren't you there for the pushupt? I wasn't
- 52:21Speaker 1: here counting him out. I was here, my game, my rules. Yeah,
- 52:25Speaker 1: all right, Mike, what do you think my level of
- 52:27Speaker 1: interest wasn't a push up contest? Probably more than the
- 52:29Speaker 1: PEPSI you were drinking while you're correct? All right, Matt Morrel?
- 52:32Speaker 1: You are you? Uh? What's he doing back there? Matt?
- 52:37Speaker 1: Are you clued into what we're doing here with this July?
- 52:39Speaker 1: I am, yes, Okay, I listened to my drive in.
- 52:41Speaker 1: All right, So I'm gonna do another question now, So
- 52:43Speaker 1: whoever dedication whoever? It's the first person who emails in
- 52:47Speaker 1: the correct answer, You'll get there info. Okay, um, okay?
- 52:53Speaker 1: Next question? What pro Football Hall of Famer once told
- 52:59Speaker 1: Andy to day off steroids? Wow? Can and can I
- 53:04Speaker 1: get some background? This? This is when I didn't I
- 53:05Speaker 1: hadn't heard I wait to kick give him this hint.
- 53:08Speaker 1: But but just like what plus I gave you the answer. No,
- 53:10Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just curious what made this player
- 53:12Speaker 1: particularly happen to be in the building. And he was
- 53:14Speaker 1: if he could show up into the show. He was
- 53:16Speaker 1: sitting right where he looked at Andy and said, you
- 53:18Speaker 1: got this guy seems like he might be one. Okay,
- 53:21Speaker 1: full disclosure. Fred and I spent a decent portion of
- 53:26Speaker 1: the interview making fun of Andy for being a juicer.
- 53:31Speaker 1: And then when the when the gentleman got up, he
- 53:36Speaker 1: sort of patted Andy on the shoulder and said, stay
- 53:38Speaker 1: off the juice. Well that's an all timer. Yeah, talk
- 53:43Speaker 1: about right? Is that accurate description? It wasn't just that
- 53:48Speaker 1: like he came out of now Bndy was so aggressive
- 53:53Speaker 1: where he was, but at some point he just just
- 53:57Speaker 1: kind of looked at him, stay off the juice, and
- 54:00Speaker 1: it was on shriveled up little. This guy looks like
- 54:05Speaker 1: he's on a lot of answers, but none of them correct.
- 54:09Speaker 1: You should try to lose some weight. A lot of
- 54:11Speaker 1: answers handing out tips to everybody. None of them correct
- 54:14Speaker 1: so far that I got, yeah, you need a new hairstyle.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Nobody correct yet, nobody correct yet. Okay, so we haven't
- 54:20Speaker 1: had any of the old schoolers chime in yet, because
- 54:22Speaker 1: like Christian, this is right up Christian's alley. Yeah, none
- 54:26Speaker 1: of them correct, so this is good John, John and
- 54:28Speaker 1: La would get that this is a good question. The
- 54:30Speaker 1: poor people listening after the fact, not live, Nick, Nick Chester,
- 54:35Speaker 1: he would get that. A lot of our old school
- 54:37Speaker 1: guys would get this. Yeah, Mike and Puerto Rico. Yeah,
- 54:42Speaker 1: so we'll um, we'll keep this one open. Let's see
- 54:45Speaker 1: it's twelve fifty five, We'll keep it open to like
- 54:47Speaker 1: one fifteen because we'd want to do another one. And
- 54:49Speaker 1: at if at one fifteen no one's got it right,
- 54:52Speaker 1: we'll give the answer and we'll do another one. Yeah.
- 54:55Speaker 1: I would have to think like Eldred and Todd, they
- 54:57Speaker 1: would all know the answer. And I think we've taught
- 55:00Speaker 1: about it since then. It's not like it happened and
- 55:01Speaker 1: we never talked about it because I'm I'm a little
- 55:04Speaker 1: bit worried now because I don't like being the guy
- 55:05Speaker 1: that comes up with trivia questions that people can't get too.
- 55:08Speaker 1: That's lame. Well, you did you hold high high value?
- 55:12Speaker 1: While we're speaking out about listeners, real quick, if I may,
- 55:15Speaker 1: I spoke to a class at UNH last week, we
- 55:18Speaker 1: had a listener in the class. His name's Caleb, so
- 55:20Speaker 1: I wanted to give him a shout out because he
- 55:22Speaker 1: told me if I did, I would surpass Paul as
- 55:24Speaker 1: his favorite cast member. Okay, shout out Caleb. Alex is
- 55:27Speaker 1: now Caleb's favorite cast member. Alex, you did not do
- 55:31Speaker 1: that properly when you said you spoke in a class
- 55:33Speaker 1: at UNH last week. You should pause and freda sniff sniff,
- 55:38Speaker 1: because that's kind of like name dropping, like you know,
- 55:40Speaker 1: you know, like, yeah, take a moment too. I spoke
- 55:44Speaker 1: in a college. I spoke at a class. I molded
- 55:47Speaker 1: some young minds. Yeah, via zoom a little sniff, give
- 55:51Speaker 1: you questions about pu about things behind the scenes. No,
- 55:54Speaker 1: it was like a follow up LinkedIn message or Twitter
- 55:58Speaker 1: message something I see by Socie is teaching a class
- 56:01Speaker 1: at Emerson. From what I understand, Yeah, he's had um
- 56:06Speaker 1: a couple of people on already with him, you know,
- 56:09Speaker 1: to visit the Clapp Brad Fellman Voice of the Revolution
- 56:11Speaker 1: and uh, somebody before maybe Mike Reeses. I think Mike
- 56:15Speaker 1: Reeses came by and like a media class, spoke to
- 56:18Speaker 1: the class. Yeah, no one uniform. Oh now we didn't
- 56:23Speaker 1: give it. Not a company guy didn't give one. I
- 56:25Speaker 1: wasn't here. I got to bring up your thing about
- 56:27Speaker 1: L two though on the kick off, that's amazing. Were
- 56:31Speaker 1: you listening, Evan? Are you listening earlier? Of course no,
- 56:33Speaker 1: he does. Oh well, he has to make sure, you know,
- 56:37Speaker 1: we don't say yeah, otherwise we end up on his
- 56:41Speaker 1: grievance list. No one talked about your doctor. But I
- 56:48Speaker 1: think he realized the microphone's way over there. It's not
- 56:51Speaker 1: ready for me yet. All right, let's Evan's here? Hi, Evan, Hello,
- 56:56Speaker 1: my goodness, what's going on with the microphone over here?
- 56:59Speaker 1: There you go? I don't know. You don't have a
- 57:01Speaker 1: chair or you do have a chair, dude. All right,
- 57:03Speaker 1: let's get to the phone. Five hundred marks and Bolton,
- 57:07Speaker 1: what's up? Mark? Well, so, I am an example of
- 57:12Speaker 1: the paying fan, um god willing fifty four years of
- 57:17Speaker 1: paying season ticket holder of this year, um so. The
- 57:22Speaker 1: main narrative on maxed Outburst and Arizona or Buffalo was
- 57:27Speaker 1: that he was a selfish, whiney bitch and you know
- 57:31Speaker 1: the old time pathk Edelman jumped in on that in
- 57:34Speaker 1: the local media, certainly and mockingly so one of the
- 57:39Speaker 1: afternoon shows with a whiney back and all that. Um,
- 57:44Speaker 1: Mike takes a little bit different in that it was
- 57:47Speaker 1: not only Mac that looked bad because of the coaching malpractice,
- 57:51Speaker 1: but the offensive line looked bad, the wide receivers looked bad,
- 57:53Speaker 1: and then running back looked bad. So I think the
- 57:57Speaker 1: team supported and encouraged Max out first, and the team
- 58:02Speaker 1: has Max back and not Bill. Um so I mean
- 58:08Speaker 1: Craft blot and Billy Oh, I mean, I don't you
- 58:10Speaker 1: know to refuel Mac. And I think Bill's hands off
- 58:15Speaker 1: on Mac. And Bill has no penancess of the doubt
- 58:19Speaker 1: anymore from the craft. So it's interesting. That's That's where
- 58:22Speaker 1: I'm at on it. And I know, Paul, you're really
- 58:24Speaker 1: in on the other camp. No, I'm not. I think
- 58:27Speaker 1: you made a lot of good points. I think you
- 58:28Speaker 1: had a strong call. I think the only there's a
- 58:31Speaker 1: couple of minor things that I would push back on,
- 58:34Speaker 1: but I think your premise is right. I think that
- 58:36Speaker 1: the team is more behind Mac Jones than Bill Belichick
- 58:40Speaker 1: certainly showed publicly, would you, I mean, I don't. We
- 58:43Speaker 1: can't comment on what Bill Belichick shows privately, but publicly
- 58:47Speaker 1: he had a number of opportunities to really back. I mean,
- 58:50Speaker 1: he really never did right to say so, I don't
- 58:53Speaker 1: think anything Mark said right there is like blatantly wrong.
- 58:57Speaker 1: I think he's probably onto something. Yeah, yep, okay, well
- 59:01Speaker 1: you know, and I'm generally a line of command guy.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I'm a certainly no kid not
- 59:07Speaker 1: you know, I certainly believe and I think Bill is
- 59:11Speaker 1: just a fantastic, you know, game day coach. Um. But
- 59:15Speaker 1: I think he's lost his way here. Um, and I
- 59:19Speaker 1: just think that he's you know, he's had some bad moves,
- 59:22Speaker 1: you know, from from Brady um, you know, along down
- 59:26Speaker 1: the line. And this coaching decision was just I mean
- 59:29Speaker 1: I went to camp several times and it was clear
- 59:33Speaker 1: that I mean, people were running unabated at the quarterback
- 59:38Speaker 1: and you could tell there was frustration all all across
- 59:41Speaker 1: that team, and uh, you know, it just got worse.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And this whole Zappy thing really drives me nuts too. Um.
- 59:51Speaker 1: I mean, he's a he's a shorter, less athletic mac
- 59:54Speaker 1: and he's redundant. And you know, if they can if
- 59:58Speaker 1: they can move on from him from the mid, guy
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: would do it. And if you want to have somebody different,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: then take a you know, take a project quarterback that
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: has the physical skills and uh, you know, something that
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: you can work with. It's different than the player that
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: you have. Um you know, if that satisfies everybody's you know,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: itch like the afternoons show on a certain network, um
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: to you know, have a development shows. All right, thanks
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: for mark, appreciate that. I don't know, I belong to me.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: That be certainly a shorter. I think they're equally aft.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I don't think either one of them is an exceptional athlete,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: but he's shorter. Like I thought, he made a lot
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: of good points. The one thing I would say is
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I think a lot of people did poke fun of
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Mac Jones with his behavior, but almost all of them,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: including the one who does it the most, Jim Murray,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: always prefaces prefaces it by saying, you know, I'm granted
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: he's right, but he didn't have to carry on like that, right.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I think everybody says he's in the right. Everybody. That's
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: one that I would say is one hundred percent. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Like everybody says there's no way he should have been
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: saddled with what he was saddled with. I'd be in
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: that camp too, By the way, um, I have a
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: question for Evan. Actually I was thinking about this yesterday. Um, yep,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: that's right. It's February. I decided to start watching some
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: of the quarterbacks in the draft this year. Where would
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: you rank Mac if he was in this class? Just
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: wondering that when I was watching, I always wonder why
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: everybody does that, and not with Mac Jones in general, Like,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I think it's important. I think it's important in a
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: sense not to completely deviate from Deuce's point here. You know,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I didn't mean that as a no, no, no, change
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: your job. I can keep it on Deuce's point. So
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: I think it's important in the fact that Bryce Young,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: c J. Stroud, Will Levis Anthony Richardson compared to Kenny
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Pickett and the guys last year, it's a good way
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: to realize is this guy really a first round quarterback?
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Or is he just a first round quarterback this year?
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Because the quarterbacks are not very good, right, I think
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: in this year's class, these are four legitimately good quarterback prospects.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I do so. I think i'd probably have Mac fifth
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: like I did when he came out, and I was
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: wrong about having him below Zach Wilson, But I don't
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: know about Trey Lance. I guess maybe I was wrong
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: about that too, But I feel like he's probably in
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the same spot because those other four just have a
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: higher level that they can reach with development than than
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Mac does. I mean, Anthony Richardson's toolsy quarterback that's way
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: more raw than Mac coming out, but he's so toolsy
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: that that's got a higher ceiling he just does. Yeah,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: that's what I found myself, just you know, thinking about
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: and I mean part of the reason why asked the question,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: but just you know, it's Bill took the guy that
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: feels very Bill Belichick like a low high floor guy
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: and you know, maybe very low ceiling. And you know,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I just couldn't help but watching Will Levi's call him Levi,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Will Levis and Anthony Richardson of just you know, two
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: guys clearly their floor. Their floor is not you know,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: it's not a high floor like they they both have,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: you know, some issues. But I just was watching. I'm like,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: it's just I think a lot of people would would
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: love to see Bill with that toolsy quarterback, you know,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: and try to develop a guy that, hey, let's swing
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: for the fences rather than you know, it's just we
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: got Maggot's fine, but you know it doesn't have the
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: excitement where you look at some of the plays that
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I'm watching Richardson or Levis make yesterday. You know, like
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: these things are appealing, like you can see in a
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: perfect world, does will leve Us become like, you know,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: a Josh Allen type with that kind of size and
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: you know the strength that he has, And it's, uh,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: you know that that's just where I was kind of
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: getting out of the Little League is in a dangerous
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: way with this though, because because Josh Allen really him.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: But I guess you could throw Mahomes and maybe even
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Justin Herbert in the conversation too, because those guys have
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: worked out so well. I think now the entire league
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: is going to be forever. Yeah, I think there's some
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: merit to that argument. I think you're right, um, And
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I think there are plenty of guys that were quote
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: unquote toolsy with size and strength and athleticism that didn't work,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: you know, like JaMarcus Russell, right, Yeah, it's a similar
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: kind of guy. Yeah. Um, but I do think where
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: I where I look at the mobility now, like I
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: feel like there's been an embracing over the last five
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: plus years of zone reads, RPOs, different kinds of things
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: involving the quarterback that wasn't really prevalent, you know, say,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: ten years ago. So that's where I think it might
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: be a little different. I think your point, I think
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: your point is dead on, though. I do think that
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: now everybody's gonna say, well, this one did this one? Dude,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: that's all you gotta do. You just you know, find
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: a toolsy quarterback and develop them like it's yeah, like nothing,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: you know. The one thing about let Uh, I was
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: gonna say, LEVI, I don't like the way he mocks
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: us for knowing knowing these names. And I don't pretend
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: to watch many I don't. I don't pretend to watch
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: as many of these guys the way Evan does because
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: I don't and I won't. Um but um, you know
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: from Kentucky, you know you know SEC. Yes, but you know,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: kind of like j Cutler when he was in the SEC,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: like at a lower echelon program in the SEC, almost
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: always going against vastly superior teams. Sometimes, I like those
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: guys you know, that that are able to compete at
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: a level they were able to lift their team at
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: a level probably higher than their team is, you know,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: and you know, like Josh Allen at Wyoming didn't really
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: get a chance to play a ton of those marquee
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: games Levi's did, so I don't know, there's some intrigue
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: there with with him. I think I would probably pass
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: because I think he's a little too wild. But I
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: watched the breakdown of the Georgia game and he was
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: that was you know, consensus, people were saying that was
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: what his best game was last year. I know, I mean,
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: just it's just interesting. You see these guys and you
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: can't help but be intrigued. I know your size and
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: strength and just you know, it's I still really believe
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: in the ability for a quarterback to throw the ball.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: It's like just the key to long jevity in this league.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: And that's why I think I'd be more you know,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: on Burrow than maybe just about anybody else other than
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Mahomes just as far as you know, I think Lamar
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Jackson and Josh Allen, like, yeah, they might thread the
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: needle once or twice, but it's just I feel like
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: it's gonna be really hard and if you really want
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: to sustain ten years of excellence and really have a
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: shot every year. I continue to lean towards guys that
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: throw and know how to throw and know how to
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: process and can get the ball up. About ten more
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: minutes left in the trivia question. Ohow, we're still waiting? Yeah, no,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: right answers yet I would have said it, um corny,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I know what was the question? Oh what Pro Football
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Hall of Famer once told Andy to stay off steroids?
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: So that is the pro Pro Football Hall of Fame.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Do you want any hints? We can Nope. If at
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: one fifteen, i'd apologize. I thought that was a slam dunk.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Evidently regulars are not listening. If we don't have an
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: answer at one fifteen, we'll do another question. Evan, I
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: noticed you're not wearing a T shirt. I'm not. I
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: didn't get the memo you think you're better than everybody.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: I love funny breaks out as Jackie Mason. I don't
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: know where either, well I have brought it. It's a
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Star Wars teacher. I needed to hold one up. Well,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I'm wearing the collar shirt today because Deuce and I
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: are doing some some video after this, so I wanted
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: to look nice for the camera, and I did not
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: get the memo on the T shirts. You got three
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: o'clock shoot for that. Yeah, they're done with So you're
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: gonna be doing a video mock draft. No, well, we're
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: gonna take our two mocks and we're just gonna kind
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: of talk about them and break down. Yeah, he'll tell
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: me how wrong I am and how everybody will be
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: off the board by the time I selected them, which
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: I'm sure. But but you know, a little discussion before
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: the combine. We're excited to head out there. We should
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: we do a little competition deuce first Evan whose mock
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: draft ends up being more accurate. I think we definitely
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: big boards. We could do big boards, big boards. What
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: are the steaks? Yeah, yeah, I was thinking about the
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: big boards a little bit though of what might be
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: fun will be you know, we can obviously talk Top five,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: but finding the guys that we differ on, because I'm
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: sure there's gonna be a good chunk guys that we
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: have the same winner has to buy the other person
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: lunch at Jersey Mice. I mean, that's not even lose,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: that's a healthy I can't getting on that too. Fred
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: Fred's ruining future trivia questions. Right, let's go back to
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: the phone. Sean's in Vancouver. What's up Sean? Hey, everyone,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: I have one comment and one question. Uh, Paul, I
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: am a long time listener and listening from the beginning,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: just my memories, poor us. So I'm sure I heard
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: it and forgot. Yeah. Probably, I'm sorry, that's okay. I
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: just hate I hate the fact that we have a
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: question that no one gets the answer. No, it's fine, Yeah,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: well I have my questions here. Now. I understand according
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: to the CBA that coaches or anyone associated with the
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Patriots can't lead any workhouse. But can the Patriots have
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: someone they suggest as a personal trainer to a player
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: that maybe has a relationship with the team. Yeah, Tom
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: House okay, well Alex. Yeah, so they can say Tom,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: you know you worked with him, and Tom could go
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: back to some of the pot but it can it
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: can only be a suggestion, right right, But they can
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: communicate like Tom Cow can communicate with the Patriots. Well,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: oh yeah, how's how's he doing? Yeah? You can report back? Yeah, yeah, yeah, perfect?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: All right? Thanks, all right, thanks Sean, Thanks Sean. Um oh,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: while Evan's here, we were talking, well, I don't know
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: if we brought it up in the show, but top
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: Matt Castle came up with his top quarterback list. What
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: did you think of that? Evan top quarterback list in
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: the NFL or in college? I didn't. I didn't see
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: you didn't see it. I didn't see ranked the NFL
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: quarterbacks and I think five, I mean and behind both
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: And this is the one that really stuck out to me,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: behind both Brock Purdy, yeah, and Trey Lance. Oh well,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: how did you know what? Trey lances? Right exactly to
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Trey Land shouldn't be on the list because he's just
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: in complete agre. I agree. And where I'm guilty on
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: some of these things is when I see something like that,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: I don't even look at it to break it down
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: because I'm like, well, that's silly. Yeah, Like the guys
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: played like three games in two years. I mean, he's
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: probably played like five games in six years, you know,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: So like, how can you say because he didn't play
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: the COVID year at day? But I'm just talking about
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: as a pro, Like I know he hasn't played it
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: at like a full season of football though, since like
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: twenty nineteen. So I didn't I didn't really take the
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: list with a whole lot of you know, and I
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: like Matt Castle. He's one of our favorites. I feel like,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: you know, but not not to Matt Castle. And then
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: like you know, Sims always does one of these lists too,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: and I'm sure they have Arlovsky doing them now on ESPN,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: and I like it. I like when you know, like
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: they're all they're all quarterbacks. They know a little bit
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: of what they're talking about, Like Chris Simms will always
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: have one Evan where it's like, um, you know, Mahomes
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: will be one. You know, maybe Alan will be two,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Burrow will be three, and then like some random like uh,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: I don't know, Dak Prescott would like fourth, you know,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: like a good quarterback though, wait, what one of these
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: things doesn't belong here? Like he's always a way out
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: of the box guy would be in the top. Well,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: I remember, so he's had an okay track record with
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: drinking draft eligible quarterbacks Sims. Oh yeah, and uh, you know,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: he's not always right, but he's no one's always right,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: so he's as good as anybody. Added And I remember
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: he had I think he had Mac two. He liked Mac.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: I remember, like Trevor Lawrence is everybody had Trevor Lawrence one,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: and I think he had Mac two and he was
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: one of the few people that had Zack Wilson pretty
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: low and he ended up being right. So yeah, I
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: think that you know, they have an eye for it
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: a little bit. Let's go to uh Colin in Kansas City.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Hey Colin, Hello, hello us. How are you doing? Hello?
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Hello Colin? Um? I want to say um I called
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: last week. I'm not here to talk about that topic,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: but I didn't want to shout out to Douce in
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: front of Fred, just to say that Deuce is really
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: improving and kind of being the host when you're out
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: of town. Okay, improving. Appreciate good, good, No, but you
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: got to give Mike. You're getting better miney. You have
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: to give him a lot of credit because we didn't
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: know Fred wasn't going to be here on that day.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Oh oh oh, I appreciate that. Thank hold that thought. Matt.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Okay he uh, Paul kind of harumped me a little bit,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: but I didn't. I didn't. I really didn't mean to,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: So that wasn't really my intention. Someone called last week
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: saying that I had shot you down or something, but
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: I didn't really mean it that way, so that's probably
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: just me being snarky like always. You know, I've kind
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: of settled. I'm not gonna get into the debate over
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: the homes and Brady. I'm just gonna I'm gonna kind
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: of rest on the fact that Brady is step to
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: standard and I'm okay with enjoying how it plays out.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: But I had another question on the topic of improvement.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: As we're thinking about the draft and agency, I had
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: a question for you guys, of the current players on
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the team, besides Mac Jones, who would you most Who's
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: most likely to improve? And then the second part of
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: the question is who do you want to improve the most? Yeah,
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I'd love to see col Strange improve. Well, yeah, I
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: actually you know what, I'll break that. I'll break that
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: question up. Colin most likely to improve, Cold Strange the
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: one I want to improve the most. I like your
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: choice of Thornton is the guy you yeah, most would
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: like to see Yeah, yeah, I'm not sure what the
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: answer to who's most likely is, though, I think don't
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: you think Strange is an easy one? I mean, put
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: some weight on you know, he appears on my research
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: list yeah, only only one way to go for the question.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Thank you. Um, we do have a winner, not a question,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Um Matt, hey girl, sorry Claire Cooper one wait wait
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: wait wait, this is like her fourth guess. So I've
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: been monitoring this. Okay, that's okay, I'm all right, I'm
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: gonna give it to you, Claire. But going forward, you
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: get one guess? Can you do the Claire voice? So
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: can I ask? How long is the correct answer? Well,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: Howie Long is the correct answer? So Howie Long was
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: sitting right where Alex is right now, and Andy was
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: where Mike is and Fred's in his normal spot, and
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Fred and I were really needling Andy like throughout, like
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: he was like he thinks he could play. I'm looking
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: he's bulking up, you know, like and we were like
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: teasing Andy, you know because just little t rex arms,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: you know. And uh so he doesn't say anything, how
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: he doesn't say anything about like, you know, we're laughing
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: and it was a fun interview. And then all of
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: a sudden it's over and he gets up to leave,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: and he goes over and he pass and he goes, hey,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: stay off the juice. And I think he really thought
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: that he was on steroids because Fred and I were
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: busting his ball so much and take it from me,
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: nineteen eighties and raiders, right, I know that on the table. Yeah,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: so that was the answer, was Howie long Um and Claire.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: That was her fourth guest. A lot of people were
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: like Andre Tippett, Ty Law, Richard Seymour. They were looking
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: at Patriots Hall of Famers. Maybe we could have put
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: something in the question people, I know, but maybe something.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Some people said Michael Irvin, Um, you know Rodney Harrison,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: but he's not a pro football Hall of Famer, so
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: that was wrong. But yeah, I don't know how Claire
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: got it on her fourth guest, but she got it Google.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: She has chat TPT maybe. Uh, congrats to Claire two
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: two years today, she's been podcasting doing Patriots podcast. She's
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: stuck with it for two years. So congratulations to her
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: for her she's sticking with it. You know the struggle
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: I do, only it'd only be a year and a half.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: It warn't from me. Yeah, I'm going on. I'm just yeah,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: ah nice, yeah, there go. You know, hey, Fred, just
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: something to say for us as well as the listeners.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: We are getting some emails now about the combine next week.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: And I'm reading here that one Matthew jude On is
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: gonna be around on Thursday. It looks like at the Combine.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: So what it says he's appearing on Players Only Combine
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: on NFL some show with Kurt Warner, Steve Smith Junior,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Joe Thomas, Sean O'Hara, Maurice Jones Jrwe and Michael Robinson
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: and they're doing it's going NFL Network. So they're doing
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: some guests at NFL Network. So I guess maybe he's
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: making appearance. So maybe if he's there, we can we
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: can snag him and grab him and try to make something. Yeah,
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: I can say, do him again and I'll remember me
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: from Yeah, we had our Combine content meeting this morning. Uh,
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: just talking about who's going to do what, and we'll
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: have a crew over there with uh daily stuff. We'll
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: have a catch twenty two emanating from the Combine. Uh
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: so good stuff to look forward to, written video audio,
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: you know, we'll have we'll have it all. We're can't wait.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: We're excited. Yeah. Yeah, let's get back to the phone.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: And by the way, we'll do another from your question again,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: um in a few minutes, So stick around if you
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: want a chance to win a Patriots unfiltered T shirt
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: that Evan's not wearing. I got the mad Castle quarterbacks list,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: though I got some gripes. So it's so fearing you
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: up right, I got some gripes. You get back to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: it when you yell at Alex were saying you couldn't
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: have a great Dan. Wait, if Eman loses the mock
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: draft thing, he has to like, maybe baby sit a
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: great Dan for a week. No, Chess already wants another dog.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: So no, we're not no second job. We're I'm less.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: I'm less interested in who wins the mock draft. I
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: I where I like the draft stuff, and unfortunately, Mike,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: you and I didn't have a lot of these last year.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: It's when you just sort of look at the positions
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: and you pick the players and you're like, I really
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: like Zay Flowers, I really like uh, you know some Johnson.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: You don't like him and I like him. Those are
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: the those are the best ones, and we didn't have
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: a lot of those last year. It kind of think
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: it think it took away from our draft too. I
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: think Matisse got all of them, like the random guy,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: but like most of the guys we talked about, like
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: we all agreed on yeah, and I think it's better
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: when you're like, no, no, no, I think this guy
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: can really do this. I don't. I don't see it.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: I don't like that guy, and then you see who's right. Yeah,
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: those are the ones that's I think, what would be
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: some of the we're trying to do that. We're trying
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: to keep our prep separate, so we don't like I think,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: sometimes separate with me and Barth, we we we talk
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: about draft prospects all day every day, and I think
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: that sometimes we start to have grop think between the
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: two of us where we both really like a guy.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: So I every once in a while, I have to
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: remind myself that I can have an independent waste of
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: it's fun. It's like I told I told them in
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: this too when we got into the drafting, like I
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: have to stay away from you during this because like
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I don't want you to to poison the chalde. Yeah,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Andy and I did the same thing. We never talked
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: about it until we did the podcast. That's when we
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: found out. But then it's great because then like you know,
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: I'll finally come upon a guy and then he has
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: created a Twitter thread like a month and a half ago,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, here it is okay, you know,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: but I was telling having a funny story early on
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: the draft pre well, he goes from like now he's
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: like me, I'm like, I don't know yet. I don't
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: know yet. And then like the next day he's like, no,
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: actually know everything deep dive on the wide receivers on
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: the outside wide. Oh yeah, well the spreadsheet separated between
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: inside and outside and receivers. That a break, right, you
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: gotta find the rules. But a funny, little funny story. Yesterday,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: I was, you know, messing around watching some of the quarterbacks,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: I said, and uh, just other stuff, and I kind
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: of came upon this Alabama running back and I was like, wow,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: this you know, kids pretty good. He looks explosive and
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: then like swear to God, Like I literally just looked
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: down at Twitter and you literally just tweeted out a
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: video of him talking about like, what have you been doing?
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I think he makes fun of us. What Yeah, this
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: is where I think he makes fun of Like, you know,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: I just came across this Alabama running back who was
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: arguably the best player in college football last year. I know,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: it's bad nothing. No, I mean this is me. He
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: discovered this is me. This is me yesterday, Like I'm like, oh,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: this Bryce Young's pretty, this guy's smooth. I mean, I
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: get it. It's I'm making fun of myself. Literally watches
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: like I know, you don't watch a ton of games.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: He like to make one of Alex. He literally watches
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: nothing but the Patriots and that's it. But then like
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: a curse to me now where I'm like, wow, this, uh,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: this National Championship game had some good players and maybe
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I should have watched that. That's the That's the thing
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: that that always I always enjoy about studying the draft
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: is how many times do I watch the same game,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: but I'm watching it different different, Right, So yesterday I
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: watched Alabama against Case State for probably like the seventh
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: time because I was watching a defensive end on Kansas State,
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: and then Gibbs kept on flashing throughout the game, and
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I was just like, I know, they don't need a
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: running back, but this guy's awesome. Instead of the most
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: value when you start to get into the positions and
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: now you're saying, oh, now I'm seeing this cornerback go
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: against that wide receiver. That I already watched. I know
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: how good he is. Yeah, how you know even that's
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: when you can start to say and I'll write down,
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: I'm like stupid, right, Like it's one rep, one play
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: in one game that I happen to see from two
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: different perspectives, and you're like, oh, shut down, they don't
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: hide it, but meaningless press. But then you dive into
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: that guy. Well, yeah, I try this year. I'm really
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: trying the hard the hardest that I can to watch
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: guys against other NFL caliber players. I think sometimes you
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: get into these these these guys and you're watching them
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: against Apple Achan State, and it's like you'd be talking
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: about a guard, right, and it's like, oh, well, no kidding.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: You know, Jordan Addison looked great against you know whatever,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: random school insert random school, But then how does you
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: know Utah? For example, Clark Phillips, a corner from Utah,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: is going to be a top fifty pick. So how
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: did Jordan Addison look against Clark Phillips Because he's gonna
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: be playing Clark Phillips in on Sunday for ten years?
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: You know, Like those are two NFL caliber players, So
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I think that's important to me that happens a lot
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: in the D line. You watch a guy and he's
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: in the backfield every play, and it's you just realize
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: he's going against the guy that he's just overmatching right now,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Jalen Carter. That's why it's a little better you don't
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: like everything else when you watch the SEC because a
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: lot of those guys on both sides of the ball
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: are gonna end up in the league. Yeah. The guy
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: yesterday as well, I can't pronounce his name from Kansas
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: State's one of those names, but he plays defensive end
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: for k State and he was going up against Steen,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: the left tackle at Alabama, who's a draft eligible tackle.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: It's going to get drafted someplace, probably in the third
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: or fourth round. And I was like, okay, you know
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: the Kevin falkback. Yeah, he's good. He's kind of like
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Danny Woodhead, right, He's like, yeah, small, he's very explosives.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: He's good. If they if they really just want to
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: target like a James White and not not Jamari Gibbs,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: who's going to go in the first round, but somebody
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: that's going to go in the fourth round, then yeah,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: he's definitely on the shore list. Let's go to Isaiah
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: in Las Vegas. What's up, Isaiah? I was looking at
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: the mac Castle's Top twenty five, the top quarterback list earlier,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: and um, some things that like kind of really stuck
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: out to me, was I gotta put up um all
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: the people you screenteen to twenty four, you know, Rock Purtty,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Carla Murray, Matthew Stafford, Ryan Tannehill, Jimmy g Andy Dalton,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Russell Wilson, and even like all the way up to
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: nine through sixteen, they all got better weapons than Mac Jones.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: And I think if you were able to take mac
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Jones and put him on any one of those teams,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: I think it would be a top five quarterback in
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: any regard. Top five that's high. Yeah, that's pretty high.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: They had pretty pretty high. Yeah, but what sixteen or something,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: that's he's a far cry from top five. Yeah, you know,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: uh Andy Dalton was lower than Purty, I believe, but
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: just just to look at it, you know, pretty seventeen Yeah, Okay,
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: that's the one I've always stuck out there. Or even
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: giving mac Jones, Devance Smith and A. J. Brown and
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: the Eagles offensive line, I think, you know, it's pretty
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: ridiculous to like kind of put him at twenty five
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: in regard do you think you would have rushed for
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: seventeen touchdowns? Yeah, I hear what you're saying, Isaiah, but
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: you know, just taking it on its face value, I
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: had a hard time, like really making a compelling argument
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: about the guys he was behind. He should be higher
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: than twenty five. He should be. But hester, did Trey
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Lance play better than him in twenty twenty two? That's
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: one that's did Ryan Tannehill play better than him in
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: twenty twenty two? Um, I don't know, like if we're
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: just going off twenty twenty two, like a lot of
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: these guys didn't play great. Stafford didn't. No, he didn't.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: But I I think that that wasn't Castle's criteria. I
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: think he was just saying body of work problem. Yeah,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: and I and I get that. That's why I wouldn't
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: be up in arms about it. But like, to me,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Trey Lance, he shouldn't be silly. I think the problem
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: that I have with these rankings list is that it
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: really should be tears. I know this is like a nitpick,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: but like a lot of these quarterbacks that Mac Jones
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: is around I think he's in the same tier as
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: but just because he's maybe two spots lower than him,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: isn't really that big of a difference. Maybe it makes
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: you feel better if he's like eighteen, right, right, he's
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: in that like the fourth tier like NFL starter, but
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: like not a great you know great or whatever like
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: way you want to preface it, the one startup, but
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: still looking I had a grape with it, right, I
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: think this Jalen Hurts being number two is recency bias.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: He's a really talented play I like Jalen Hurts a lot,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: but the second best quarterback in the league. You can
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: make an argument in twenty twenty two maybe he had
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: the second best year, but I totally agree with yeah,
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: I think that's where like, how do you have him
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: below Burrow or above Burrow and even Josh Allen Allen
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: either But if you're going by twenty twenty two, he
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: had a better year than both of those guys. But
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: that's not what you know, he Fred said, that's not
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: what is criteria. It didn't seem like Russell Wilson's pretty high.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: He had a miserable one. He can't have Russell Wilson ahead.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: I always look at this as like, if I was
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: starting a team and I had the pick of the
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: I could take any quarterback in the league, how would
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: I rank the quarterbacks that I would draft? And Hurts
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: is one of those players that's so hyper specific to
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: the way they run their system and all, Like, I
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: just I don't think that he's all things considered a
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: second best quarterback in the league. Like, I'm not drafting
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts in a in a draft number two overall.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: So what about Lamar Jackson? Does he fallen that I'd
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: have him higher than Jalen Hurts would too? But but
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: in terms of you have to pick a guy to
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: start your team with, is Lamar Jackson high up on
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: your list or no, I think he's in the top ten.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: But I don't think he's in the top five. I
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: would say Mahomes Burrow, Alan Herbert. I guess then maybe
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: you start to talk about Lamar and Jalen Hurts at
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: that point, you know, being somewhere in that five to
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: ten ranges. Thanks, no argument, William and Philham. What's up? William?
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: What's going on for color thing? Hey? How you doing? Alicia? Hey? Hey?
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Um so I just have two questions. One is one
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: is a wide receiver question for Evan, of course, but
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: in terms of the draft, and another one's but Evan
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: and Paul so um I disturbs one answer. First, So, Evan,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: what do you think of um jail and Reef of
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Michigan speak really good Senior Bowl week? I yeah. I
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: don't want to overreact to the Senior Bowl week too much, though,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: because it's one week of practice where he played really well.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: I don't know if I necessarily saw him as good
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: on his college tape as I did necessarily in mobile.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: So I think he's a solid at like third, you know,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: the end of the third round type of guy, though
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: maybe fourth round. I agree. I'm fare so I got
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: one one one I get back to work. Um so
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: real fash. This one's for pulling you, of course. So
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: what do you if we couldn't get t Higgins right,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: and y'all say, y'all would give up a first form,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: maybe Mike have to cost you a first and the fourth.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: What if you can get two receivers but you might
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: have put draft capital towards and say that like Brandon
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Cooks is the third and then you get Um Jerry
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Judy you might have to add like a second or
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: maybe just a second or a second or something. I
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I don't know what y'all would
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: think of that. If you couldn't get t Higgins then
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: but you still have your first round pick to get
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: your offensive office attack. And I'll leave it at that, y'all.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: Y'all take care of all right, thanks for you what love?
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: I go first, I'll take Jerry Judy. Well. So the
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: rumor was that Judy has been available. He was available
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: at the trade deadline, and the rumor was that the
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: asking price was a second and the fifth, and at
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: the deadline, no, there were no takers for a second
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: in the fifth. But I think it's actually a little
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: crazy because that situation in Denver has been terrible, and
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: he's performed when he's been out there, despite the fact
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: that he's had a Drew Locke and Russell Wilson's corpse
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: and all these other things going on at quarterbacks. So
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: I think he's a good player. I would give up
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: a second in the fifth for Jerry Judy. I would too,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: And I wouldn't necessarily be interested in trading draft capital
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: for for Brandon Cooks and Jerry Judy. Yeah, if you
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: if you wanted to say, well, I can get Cooks
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: and I don't have to give up the two. Yeah,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: I'd rather have Judy for obvious reasons, younger, and I
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: think higher upside at this stage. You know, I love
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: him to go up Mount you know, I love Mount Cooks.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: But I think the second in the fifth is reasonable
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: for Jerry Judy. I think so I do it. Yeah, um, okay,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: let's see Ryan in situate has a very negative over
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: under game. UM games where Mac throws multiple interceptions with
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: zero touchdowns over under one and a Hey, I'm gonna
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: say under under. Yeah, if he if he just had
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: multiple interception games, i'd say overweight. Correct, I would say,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: but to combine that with way, to combine that with
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: no touchdowns, I'm gonna say under. I think it's rare
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: to have a no touchdown game period around here. It's
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: a bad sign. Yeah, I go, I go, I go underway.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: I was only being John O. Smith touchdowns Hey just
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: a half? Yeah, I don't really have Does it have
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: to be with the Patriots? No? Because I think this,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: I think his Yeah, I think he's question he will
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: have more than one touchdown this season. Well, all he
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: needs just one. Yeah, you will have more of that,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: I will say over if he's here. I mean, I'm
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: just Scott. I don't really hear anyone even trying to
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: make the case that Bill O'Brien's gonna unlock Johnny. Oh,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: I've heard that. Yeah, it's gonna be really interesting to
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: see how he employs the tight ends. I've heard that
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: a million the tight ends on the roster better than
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: what they've been able to show because of the coaching
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: and this that, and then when you get into you know,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I've gotten into a little bit with the tight ends
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: in the draft, and people are like, well, why do
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: they need a tight end? They have two tight ends
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: on the roster. I'm like, are either of those tight
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: ends scary? Like a, are you really worried about facing
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: Johnny Smith on Sunday? Well, if you're an opposing defense
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: and I'm not. I'm not totally sold on Michael Mayer either,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: but like like Dalton Kincaid, Michael may or whoever, if
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: they feel like those guys are dangerous weapons, then that
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: I don't think tight ends Oh well, I mean not
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: In the last year for Hunter Henry in his deal
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: I mean, John Smith, we don't even know. Maybe they
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: could swing a trade and all of a sudden you
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: don't even have a starter next year. So I mean,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: I I really wonder if that's a position that they
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: that they tap and you know, do they do they
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: go for just a weapon? Guy? Did they just go
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: for you know, somebody who can run and get open?
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: You know, like it's fine. Devin mccordy dropped interceptions with
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: nobody around him. One and ahay is he playing or
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: not that there's an assumption they'll have one if he plays?
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Obviously under under yeah, I'll say under two and say
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: under als. And finally Mac Jones and Bill O'Brien screaming matches,
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: I'll say over that's a good? Is that what we want?
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: I mean, everybody wants to see that, right, everybody wants
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: to see just like a like a like a petulant
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Matt come on the sideline and just see Bill O'Brien
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: laying down, like do we want that petulant man? All right,
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: let's do another trivia question. All right, all right, hello, Jerry,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: let's see what should we do? Do one of yours?
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: Don't do an andy shell shot? Getting too much Andy here. Okay, Um,
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: all right, UM, I know we've talked about this fairly recently,
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: so I even though it happened a long time ago,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: we've brought it up several times in the show. What
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: famously happened to Shane Donaldson during a two thousand and
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: one Super Bowl PFW in progress show, I don't think
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I know this one. Bonus points if he can tell
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: me some other details about that show which made it
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: different than most. What famously happened to Shane Donaldson during
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: a two thousand and one Super Bowl PFW and progress show.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Was that like a special you guys did or was
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: it just like from New Orleans? Yeah? I remember. Uh.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: We were actually set up outside like where the team ate,
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: so there was a lot of player foot traffic. And
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: after the first day Belichick said move those m efforts,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: so that we had to move into another room because
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: we're out there saying I don't know if they're gonna
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: be and you know, the players are walking by. That
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: was like us in Tennessee with with poor Philip Door
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: said on the bike behind us, this was way worse.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: This was like I don't know how they're going to
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: shut And then like wal motivation probably said nobody believes. Yeah,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: did any stop and listen. No. Couple guys like guys
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: that knew us and like us. They would like they
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: would like pretend like, you know, like they were like
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: on pins and needles waiting to hear what we said.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: So we'll will open the will open the web radio
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: answer line until one forty five on this one. It's
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: one thirty four now to one forty five. If anyone
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: can answer that one. Well, So one of the things
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: we talked about that I wanted to get to Fred
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: we talked about on Tuesday was this notion that safe
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: picks in the first round. Yeah, and I always sort
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: of push back against that because I think that they're
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: really I mean, if if it was really like that,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: I think more teams would do it that way and
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: take their risks later when the stakes are lower. But
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: obviously quarterbacks an exception, because well, like Kevin talked about earlier,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: there are guys that get drafted every year in the
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: first round just because of that position. So that's a
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: little bit different. But we talked specifically about tackle and
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: wide receiver, and I went back and I looked, I
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: have the last six years of the draft. And the
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: reason I did six, you know, to me, it's a
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: five year sample. I did six because you can't really
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: necessarily write the book on the twenty twenty two draft class, right, Um,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: there really is no difference in the hit or misrate.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: The you know, the bust rate is in my opinion,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: exactly the same. But between the two positions in the
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: first round is that we're saying it's yeah, it's obviously
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: open to interpretation, but I think it worked out really well.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: There have been twenty four tackles taken in the first
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: round since twenty seventeen. There have been twenty four wide
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: receivers taken in the first round since twenty seventeen. Now
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I include undraft history. They had two tackles listed as guards.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: One was Rashaan Slater and one was Isaiah Wynn. Ironically enough, um, right,
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: So those two guys I included with the tackles, even
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: though they were listed at guard. Um. And I also
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: have all the guards that were taken in the first round.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: There were there were six of them taken in the
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: first round. How many of them were considered blue chips
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: guards or any of these people you're talking about. Oh, well,
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you what you know. So I'm just
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: very rudimentary stat Pro bowls. Okay, you have Tristan Worth's,
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: Penney Sewell, Quentin Nelson and Rashaan Slater and Chris Lidstrom,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: they've all made Pro Bowls, right, So on wide receivers again,
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: twenty four wide receivers, taking that time, you have Pro
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: bowlers there. There is Justin Jefferson, Ceedee Lamb, Jamar Chase. Okay,
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: so it's it's similar in terms of that. Now where
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: it becomes a little bit more difficult to evaluate is
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: what you think of a tackle. And my contention is
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: the reason why we all think the offensive line is
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: the safer pick is when a guy doesn't work, you
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: don't really know it. When a guy doesn't work at
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: wide receiver, Nikhil Harry, you definitely know it because there
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: are numbers to tell you flat out. There's no subjectivity
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: to it, you know. So I look at like this
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: last wide receiver class, right, Uh, let's go twenty twenty
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: one because you have two years Jamar Chase, Jalen Waddle,
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: DeVante Smith. I don't think anybody would argue that any
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: of those guys as a bust generational players. Right, Kadarius
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: Tony was Shod Bateman. I would say, right now, I
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: have them in the bold and my little list here
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: as busts. You know, Rashod Bateman in eighteen games played,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: has sixty one catches for eight hundred yards and three touchdowns.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: His problem is he can't stay on the field. Yes,
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: he's only played eighteen games in two years. But on
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: the other side, when you look at some of these tackles, um,
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: what do you think of Um? Let's see here Andre
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: Dillard will right, one of their few. Austin Jackson, he
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: was overdrafted at the time. Caleb McGarry also overdrafted at
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: the time. I could have won. I could have lost
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: a crap ton of money. If Mike said to me
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: true or false Caleb McGarry was a first round pick
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: in one in one year, I would have said, no, wait,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: I have no recollection of that guy either. Okay, these
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: guys are what I put in bold as busts because
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: I went back and I looked, and they're not even
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: They either don't start, didn't have their option picked up,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: moved positions like Isaiah Win. Sorry, that's a bust. Yeah,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: that's a bust. You know, Alex Leatherwood, there were a
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: lot of There were a lot sure, just like I
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: would say Jalen Rager was was overdrafted. Colossal bust at
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: wide receiver. Yeah, I think John Ross overdrafted, right, So
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: there are busts on both of these lists. To me,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: it's the same. I actually have the exact same amount
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: of guys bolded in both on both columns. Um and
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: you know, the most recent guys I think in An
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Evan sort of touched on this Tuesday. It's trending towards
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: these wide receivers are being better quicker than they used
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: to be. You know, like Drake London seventy two for
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: eight sixty six four touchdowns. That's a solid rookie year.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: You know, Garrett Wilson, we all know that he was.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: He was excellent. Chris Olave seventy two for ten forty
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: two and four touchdowns, He's awesome. These are the first
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: round picks at wide receiver. Evan Neil wasn't very good
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: as a rookie. Yeah, you know, Trevor Penning got hurt,
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: moved around. I think he had one start, you know,
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: but Tyler Smith was really good for Dallas. He was
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: the last offensive line I think the last tackle taken
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: last year in the draft. So I you know, a
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: Quonyu got out to a little bit of a slow
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: start really rounded it to form for Carolina. So I
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: don't think there's a safe position. I don't think tackles
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: any safer than wide receivers might. I think there's a
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: big difference nowadays. Just it's I think that's a really
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: good point of the development of the league. I think nowadays,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: these receivers and I would I think a lot of
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: people blame seven on seven and things like that for
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: some of the bad things that are going on with
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: football players. But I think the good thing is is
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: that these receivers, and I would also throw a orderbacks
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: in there, they are coming in so much more polished
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: as pass catchers because they just they know how to
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: catch the ball, they know how to contort their bodies,
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: they know how to run routes. Like all these things
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: are happening from the sixth grade on and they're doing it.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: You're they're playing seven on seven in the spring and
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: then they're playing actual football in the fall. Plus I
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: think the college game is throwing the ball more. Whether
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: it's out of an RPO or whatever you want. But
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: their quarterbacks are throwing more in college. These these guys
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: are so much more natural pass But Paul, I applaud
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: you on the time you took the research. However, at
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: your homework. However, I believe we were talking about blue
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: chip picks. No, okay, well I can go. I can
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: give it to you in order. But those aren't blue
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: ship guys that you're Isaiah Win wasn't a blue chip
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: cornya O'Neil were in the top five. Isaiah Win wasn't
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: a blue chip player. Okay, so eliminate him. But but
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: I'm going in order on you know whatever. Mada was
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: a famously blue chip guy who failed. You know, so
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: why was Trevor Manage a blue chip? What did he get?
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: What selection was he taken with? He was high? It
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: was number one, he was a first round pick. He
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: wasn't high in the round. No, No, I thought he
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: was a blue chip though. He was like a can't
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: miss guy. Okay, so again, that's what a blue chip.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: But you're attaching these nebulous terms. Who's calling him a
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: blue chip? All the experts. I'm just going by draft
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: selection like that. To me, is a blue like when
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: when Ikakan you gets taken fifth. Yeah, I don't care
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: if anybody called him a blue chip, that makes you
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: a blue chip. Or he could be over picked over draft, Okay,
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: like John Ross who was selected at nine was way overdraft,
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: was strange, cold strange of blue chip? No, No, I
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: wouldn't say Cole Strange who was a blue chip? Okay,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. I also didn't count to him
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: in my listenings because he was just drafted last yet,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: but he was a first round pick and he would
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: be on your list. Okay. Well, Traylan Burkes is a
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: first round pick, two, he's not a blue chip. Well,
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: I'm just but I'm counting him, saying my counting. Usually
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: Seod Bateman was a late first round blue ship. Linemen
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: are safer bets than anything else, and usually, and I'll
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: tell you why they're not to be so stubborn. I
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: just gave you all the information something and a lot
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: of times. And here's where I'll play on your side
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: of the street. You come out as a blue chip lineman,
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: you don't make you're not at all pro, but you
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: last in the league for fifteen years Okay, See there's
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: what I'm telling you. You're wrong. There's no data to
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: support that. But these guys aren't getting their options picked up.
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: But I'm just saying, like sometimes that happens and they
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: didn't really live up to their hype, but they had
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: a long career, so no one calls it a bad pick.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: How's he, Andrew Thomas? You know, I'm just saying that's
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: the way it is. So so basically, the guys that
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: worked out a blue chips. No, the guys and the
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: guys that don't work out when they weren't blue chips.
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: You're a blue chip before you're picked. Okay, but what
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: makes you that before you're picked? The consensus? Right, So
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: where you get selected is your consensus? Right? No, No,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: you're you're missing the point. No help me out here, Evan.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: There's guys. I don't think Evan's on your side, so
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: I wouldn't ask him for help. There are guys who
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: are tabbed blue chip before the draft. I think blue chip.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: To me, blue chip is about your raw talent level,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: right like, just in terms of upside, and I would
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: I would just say just in general, I don't know
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: if it's necessarily can't miss. It's more about just rod.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: But I'll give you the But you don't become a
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: blue chip based on where you're draying. I'll give you
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: the period. The best example of a blue chip tackle
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: coming out of college that I can remember in the
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: time I've been doing this, Okay, Robert Gallery, and he
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: was a whiff. That was a bus. You're right, You're
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: absolutely right. He was a blue chip. He was a
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: guy that all the experts said, Okay, this guy can't miss.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: But you're gonna do that for the other positions. Was
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: it just tackle? No, you can do it for all
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: the positions. So who are the blue chips and the
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: wide receiver category recently? You mean, yeah, well certainly wasn't
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: nikkil Harry was justin Jefferson. Yes, No, I don't think
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: he was a blue chip. Thank you, Evan, thank you.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: I don't think he was. I liked him, but I
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: don't think the consensus was this guy can't miss. Okay,
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: So these are these are the guys. The guys that
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: missed on wide receiver for me are Kadarius Tony, And
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: again these are injuries, but Kadarius Tony, Rashod Bateman, Henry Ruggs,
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: Jalen Rager, Nikhil Harry, and John Ross. Those are the
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: guys I had bolded as missing. Any of those guys,
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: any of those guys blue chips? I mean, I guess
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: I'll just have to ask Fred because we all have
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: a different miss. I think Henry Ruggs was closed. His
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: issue was not football, thank you. So okay, it wasn't
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: because he was overdrafted or missed. But he killed people
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: for whatever reason. Well that's but again, that's after he
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: was drafted. I know. But he was a blue chip prospect. Okay,
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: but and he he's a bust for reasons other than
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: for But I'm just saying you earned the blue chip
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: tag before the draft. Okay, Well, I agree with you.
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: I just want you to tell me who the blue
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: chips were because I don't know that. Yeah, all those guys.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: So my guess is that you would say all the
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: guys like I could Kwan, he's panned he's panned out.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: So he was a blue chip? No like panay Sewell
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: he was a blue Why do you say because I
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: don't know who the blue chips are, It's it's based
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: on the it's based on the no it's it's it's
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: not tell me it's not based on how they did
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: after they're drafted. A lot of the blue chip consensus
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: ended up being wrong, like Gallery is a good example.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: But all I'm saying is the mis rate is very
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: similar at all positions. That's all. I'm not trying to
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: tell you I would take a wide receiver over a tackle.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: I would take a running back. I'm not telling you
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: what position I would take. Well, I don't think it's
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: a safe pick to take a tackle. That's the only
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: thing I'm disagreeing with. Okay, I mean I'm gonna I
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: don't want to get in the way. You guys doing this?
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: Um why not? Why are you Switzerland now? Not because
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: why you're only getting better and you're not good yet? No,
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: because just improved, because I'm not too because I'm less
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: interested and about what the safe pick is and what
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: are the picks that you swung for the moon on
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: the position and it helped your team, so you know,
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: and I and I have to look at it. But
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: from what you were saying, it's like, all right, reshaunse
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: later or he was a hit. How How are San
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: Diego doing? How Jamar Chase was a hit. How is
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Cincinnati doing? You know, Like That's what I'm wondering, Like,
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: but that's just but there you have a chance to take.
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if you have a chance. Though, from
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: the Patriots perspective, how much is are we swinging for
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: the fence with a tackle? Are we swinging for the fence?
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: With Mike illustrates where my pushback originally comes from, because
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: a lot of people with this is, oh, just you
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: go with the tackle, it's a safe pick. You'll plug
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: him infants in. You doesn't mean that you've solved a
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: position for ten years, because he's gonna play for ten years.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Whereas I might take Jamar Chase and I might change
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: my team. No, the upside, I could get Jonathan often
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: and he can change my team. Obviously, that's a generational offensive.
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: One side of taking a skill position player and having
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: him pan out over a tackle or any lineman, it's
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: obviously the ceiling is so much higher to take a
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: skill position guy and have him, you know, be the guy. Absolutely,
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: that's just where I think we're at though, you know,
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: like that's what I think they need. It's like and
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: it's like, well again it change I get it. Change.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: It's something sexy about Peter Skernski usual left tech, and
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: I get what Fred's saying, like, not all of these
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: guys don't come into the draft with the same like
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: they're not all blue chips. I I agree with Fred's
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: point on that, but it's a nebulous term to say, well,
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: this one was a blue chip. I think Pensul was.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: I think a lot of people said, he's he's pretty close.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: He's he's like a can't miss guy. Yeah, that's what
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: you know, Like in my like Trevor Lawrence was Sequon
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: Barkley was, you know, like there's guys that like everybody
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: who watched, but I would draft them, this guy is
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: gonna be great, And I would argue that the vast
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: majority of those guys turn out to be pretty good
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: NFL players, most of them. Yeah, yeah, most of them.
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: It was interesting, and that's why he had to change
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: it to most argue, Well, you mentioned gallery. You can't say, oh,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: that's why I didn't say all of I said most
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: of I said, most of these guys are all also,
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: like notoriously one of the biggest bus in NFL history,
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: So it's kind of well, he ended up being a
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: serviceable guard. But that's not what he was the bee, right,
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: But he came here here briefly wasn't here. Yeah, I
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: thought he's gonna come here and he's gonna be good.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: And we looked at him and it's like, oh my god.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: You know, he's moving like Herman Munster. But I have
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: I have a a rule. Okay, because this has been
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: bugging me a little bit our show, this show, people
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: call in and not to disagree with your point, Paul
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: and your great research here the fourteenth overall pick out
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: here so often they need to take a wide receiver. Oh,
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: I wouldn't say that you need to take a wide receiver.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: That that's you know, I hear that right, or or
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: that's that's what the focus should be on wide receiver,
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: wide receiver. I have a new rule. If you want
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: them to take a wide receiver in the first round,
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: you need to put a name on it. Yeah. I agree,
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: because if you want to take a wide receiver in
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: the first round in this draft, I don't know if
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: I'm on board with you. I don't know I'm right
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: with you. There's too many people. Let's say they need
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: to take a cornerback well, which corner that right, and
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: I'm totally on board with you guys, and I just
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: want to state this sol it doesn't get you know,
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: misrepresented down the road when we're actually drafted and we're
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: picking what we want and arguing no, no, What I'm
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: saying is, I'm not opposed to take a tackle at fourteen. Yeah,
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: I just I don't want to take the fourth or
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: fifth tackle at fourteen. But if the guy that you
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: really want is that, you know, if it's like Scronski's
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: off the board and Paris Johnson's there or whatever, you know, sure, yeah,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: I would just push back and saying I'm not taking
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: a tackle because I think there's less of a chance
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: of the tackle busting than another position, because I think
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: that the rate of bust is very similar other than quarterback.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: I just think that when it comes to the blue
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: chip in that whole comment, and I think this relates
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: to the Patriots with wide receiver in the first round,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: the guys that I consider to be blue chippers are
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: guys whose flaws are not big enough that it's going
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: to make them bad NFL players and make them busts
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: or whatever you want to. Like Jamar Chase, there's very
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: few flaws to his game, but the one or two
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: things that you could nitpick with his game are not
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: greater than the ten great things about him. Right. Uh,
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: you know, I think Jamar Chase, I think Waddle, I
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: think DeVante Smith. I think those guys all checked out.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: I thought last year that the two Ohio State guys,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: Wilson and a LaVey were can't miss blue chip type players.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: Tell me the one in the draft that's that's that?
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: Like that, who is who is this year? Who's DeVante
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: Smith in this draft? Right? I don't think that's why,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: And that's why. I think you just have to you know,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: you have to be true to the board, right and
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: you can't get caught up. But there might be a
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: lot of metcast and safest draft there might be. But
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: I think it goes back to when Mike said, where
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: would Mac Jones rank among quarterbacks in this draft? Where
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: would Jordan Addison rank in last year's wide receiver class?
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: Because right now I think a lot of people have
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: Jordan Addison as maybe the best receiver in this second round.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: He would not be in the top three for me
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: even in last year's draft, And I think that that
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: does matter because you're picking him like he is the
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: number one receiver in the draft, in the fourteenth overall.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: See where I say it doesn't matter and I you
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: just articulated it perfectly, but and it's a hard thing
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: to do. I would have him ranked within the class,
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: not within the wide receivers. I wouldn't take Jordan Addison
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: because I think he's the best. He's the best receiver
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: in this class. And I have to take a receiver. Well,
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: if I have n'im ranked fifty fourth, right, yeah, I'm
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: not taking him at fourteen. That's that's just because he's
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: the best wide receiver in the class and I have
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: to have a wide receiver. That's my whole point. That's it.
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: We have a winner for the other. What did Shane
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: Donaldson famously do during the two thousand and one PFW
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: Progress Super Bowl. He fell asleep on air like this, yeah,
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: because he had really we went out and like these
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: young kids, they go to New Orleans for the first
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: time and they are ordered this really sweet and delicious
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: drink called the Hurricane, and they have more than one
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: and it hits them like a ton of bricks. And
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: he was literally on air when I heard did the winner,
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: who's the winner? His head hit the microphone because he
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: fell asleep. Ray Um Sanchez from Pennsylvania. Nice Ray, if
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: you had the bonus points of what was special about
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: that show? That's unlike most others. Uh. Fred and Brian
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: went to the YouTube press conference and left Paul by himself.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: Or you're writing solo and Shane fell asleep. Yeah yeah,
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: um so, Ray, email in your home address, you know
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: your postal address, and also your T shirt size and uh,
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: Matt will send you out of It was actually kind
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: of a funny story. Brian was like talking to me,
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: It's like, you think you think Fred would mind if,
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: like I'd really like to go to the YouTube press conference.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: It's you know, I check that out. He goes to
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: Fred and goes Fred, huh um, it's like a YouTube
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: you want to go. Fred was like on the first
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: ship out of town, and I was like, okay, like
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: and and all, honestly, I have no interest in you two.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: So like, you know, I pulled the I pulled the
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Alex and Evan oh worried about it. I'll do the show.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: I'll talk L two. I got L two for you
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: right here. I'll break it down and then Shane falls
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: asleep in the middle of the show, like he literally
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: hit Yet you must have a good five minutes of screaming.
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not doing I was like, hey,
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: I'm not doing this alone. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Jack
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: and Ann Arbor says the poster child for blue chip
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: failure was Tony Manders. That's who I meant by Trevor Manage.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: I meant I thought because Trevor Manage was a patriot. Yeah,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: he wasn't bad, That's why he was a bust. I
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: was talking about Tony Maner. I'm not able. Men who
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: knows who Tony Manders is? What? Oh? He was like unbelievable, Alex,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: And he was like unbelievable from the day he was born.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: His father like groomed him, my god, and it worked, Alex,
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: Like I sometimes I just need somebody like you know,
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: I need that like Tony reality fat check guy sometime.
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: Address was the guy who was on the cover of
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: Sports Illustrated, right, just like any of these people are
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: my head is spaying. You don't know that man Rich
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: was on the cover like like he was supposed to
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: be generation alignment, like he was want to be the
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: next great and he was Michigan State. He was on
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: so many steroids and he couldn't play. He was I
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: always kind of grouped him with Brian Bosworth. I felt
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: like that was similar high guys that I mean, I know,
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: different sides of the ball, but just similar guys on
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: the on the Bosworth played for a little bit, you know,
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: until he got run over by bo Jackson see that.
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: But that's kind of like my thing. Like Mandwich like played,
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: he just couldn't play, but no one knows because he's alignment.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: And the other one, he says is Ryan Leaf, who
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: was a blue chip failure. Well, there's there's a lot
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: of blue chip failures, but there's more blue chip successes.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: I think I watched the might have been a thirty
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: for thirty on Todd Mirnovitch, which like I just couldn't
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: get over that it actually worked, like as as terrible
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: as his dad was and like forced him to do
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: all all of this, Like he actually did make it
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: to the NFL. You know, it's completely broken, but he
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: did make it right. So now would take a step
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: back and say if he had done it conventionally, that
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: would you have been Peyton Manning, right, let's go to
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: the phones before we wrap up the show. Darnell's in Florida.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: What's up Darnell already? Hey, how are you guys doing today?
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: All right? Okay, So I got kind of a two
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: part question for you really quick though. Um. Number one,
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: do you think that it's going to be a lot
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: different with Billy than the draft for him? And? Number two,
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: do you think it's going that we have, actually, um,
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: the less successful since Nick has left the organization? Its
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: father's draft. And that's all I got for you, guys.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: Did you say you're less successful since Nick? I don't know.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: I felt like one one was up almost down. I
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: think Bill Belichick runs the draft, and I think the
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: drafts have been pretty sick. Yeah. And the question is
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: what influence will Bill O'Brien have in the draft room.
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: I mean, like he's come from college, so what what
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: has he done in terms of scouting? I don't know,
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: but like I think that he'll they'll consult with him.
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: I mean, you know, so yeah, I mean there's definitely
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: a lot of guys that he played against. Yeah, I hope.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: I don't think he's going to be making the offensive picks. No, No,
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: you know, no, but I do hope they lean on him. Yeah,
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: but a kid like you've got a lot to you know,
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: like to apostibly to. That's that's. Oh, no, you're talking
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: about he just wondered like day three guys. I mean,
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: I don't know if he's day three, but you know
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: he gets into your day three guys, Day three, maybe
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: he grabs you. Gonna get the ball. Alabama cla receiver
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: that you fell in love with last Kyle, Kyle what's
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: his name, Kyle Phillips. Phillips didn't work out slow loved him.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: That was one of our new That was one of
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: our few conflicts. All right, UM, that's gonna be it
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: for this edition of Changing the Public As get going. UM.
