- 0:00Hey guys, in this video I'm breaking down three of the best
- 0:02ass Bridges treatments for you, which is super awesome.
- 0:05All that's coming up, Hey guys, welcome back to the aspy world.
- 0:15My name is Dan, I have autism, ADHD, OCD, and dyslexia and I

- 0:28And if you're watching over on Facebook, which just gives a
- 0:30page of life and a follow to see more videos like this on this
- 0:32page, right, guys. So I am doing this video on
- 0:37three personally, I've taken these treatments for my
- 0:40Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis and these treatments are really,
- 0:43really cool and they're like therapies basically.
- 0:45They're not really treatments. When you hear the word
- 0:47treatment, it sounds like it's like drugs and stuff like that.
- 0:49But there's, you know, I do have medication, but that's for like
- 0:52my comorbid conditions. But in terms of this one, it's
- 0:56specifically talking about like therapies that you can use to
- 1:03help with daily life and and struggles that people with, you
- 1:06know, Asperger syndrome on the autism spectrum deal with.
- 1:09So I wanted to break that down right now.
- 1:10But before we get started guys, I'd like to know, do you have a
- 1:13diagnosis of Asperger syndrome or autism or are you just like a
- 1:17parent coming here to figure out what's what?
- 1:18I would love to know. Please leave me a comment in the
- 1:20comment section down below. I'd read and respond to every
- 1:22single comment and I would love to have that conversation with
- 1:24you. Super love it.
- 1:26Let's get on. So basically I have had a bunch
- 1:29load of treatment ever since my diagnosis.
- 1:31I had like a bunch load of treatments come in for different
- 1:34things, like treatment plans with this guy.
- 1:35That guy and I tried pretty much anything I could get my hands on
- 1:39that I feel would really benefit me.
- 1:41And I've tried some, like I did a a group counseling therapy
- 1:44where it was like about 12 people sat on the table.
- 1:47And then we talk about like, you know, anxiety and stuff.
- 1:50Like that was like an anxiety support group and that wasn't so
- 1:53good. And then I also had
- 1:55psychological intervention and that was OK.
- 1:58But it wasn't like, it wasn't really, really good.
- 2:01So in terms of, in terms of this, you know, this video, I
- 2:06wanted to go over the ones that I felt were like the best ones,
- 2:09ones I got the most out of. And I hopefully, you know, me
- 2:11telling you this, like maybe you can use this to your advantage
- 2:14and maybe it would be something, something awesome for you.
- 2:17So these are the top three. I'm going to break them down
- 2:21right now. Okay.
- 2:21So #1 is counseling. Psychotherapy.
- 2:24Now counseling is pretty, pretty darn simple.
- 2:28You you have a counselor who's trained in psychotherapy who
- 2:31knows how to deal with people's emotional differences and their
- 2:34ups and downs and their personal behaviors and behavior
- 2:37personality traits. And then you sit down in a
- 2:40neutral environment that's very calm, relaxed.
- 2:42And then you discuss self exploring problems, emotional
- 2:47problems and mental health problems to come to some kind of
- 2:51solution I guess is the best way to explain it.
- 2:53But the the thing I get most out of counselling is it's almost
- 2:57like a weight taking off your shoulders.
- 2:58Because when you're able to vent the things that you feel, I like
- 3:03you know, the the most kind of like the things that impact you
- 3:06the most in your life. You know, if you're thinking, oh
- 3:07you know, I want to talk about my relationship, my parents, but
- 3:10I'm living in the house, my parents.
- 3:11How do I, you know, who do I talk to about this?
- 3:14Because I obviously cannot talk to my parents because it's about
- 3:17them, right. So having a counselor and
- 3:20psychotherapy is pretty cool because you get to kind of
- 3:23express yourself to your counselor in a way which is non
- 3:26judgmental. They're not going to judge you.
- 3:28They're going to help counsel and guide you through that on
- 3:31kind of like a self exploring mission to help you come to some
- 3:35resolution to the problem that you may be presenting.
- 3:38Other times it's nice to just have like a steady flow of
- 3:42therapy from a counselor because they're listening to you and
- 3:45giving you feedback and making you look inward a bit.
- 3:48And I think that's really good. Not not just is it good, I mean
- 3:51it's super helpful. I have found that the best
- 3:55format for this for me personally has been better help,
- 3:57which is like an online, like a, you know, you log in on your
- 4:01phone and your video call, you know, your counselor or
- 4:04whatever. And it's actually been one of
- 4:07the most beneficial ways. Because one of the things I was
- 4:09worried about before was that I had to travel like 20 minutes to
- 4:13the clinic and then sit in a waiting room, then go into
- 4:16another room with a person and then do that and then for an
- 4:18hour and then drive home. And you know, it's like 2 hours
- 4:20out of your life. And then you've got to prepare
- 4:22yourself and you've got to put on like, you know, proper
- 4:24clothes. You can wear sweatpants and, you
- 4:25know, make a cup of tea and just sit down.
- 4:27You know, you have to kind of present yourself in a way which
- 4:28is presentable for the outside, but with better help I can just
- 4:33sit down on my bean bag and then like just call my counselor and
- 4:37repay through like PayPal or whatever.
- 4:39It is super dope. If you're interested in doing
- 4:41like online counseling like that, I will leave my personal
- 4:43link for better help down below and it really helps me out if
- 4:45you use that link. This is not a sponsored video.
- 4:47It's just that I, you know use them and it's really cool if you
- 4:50use my link. So in terms of the, the, the,
- 4:56the rest of it, I'm going to breakdown other therapies that
- 4:58and basically not counseling, just in case you think like
- 5:01going to talk about different types of counseling therapies.
- 5:02No, not counseling was #1. Let's move on okay, guys.
- 5:05So therapy #2 is relaxation therapy.
- 5:09Now that are variants of relaxation therapy.
- 5:11You can have like sensory therapy where you basically use
- 5:15sensory rooms or sensory gadgets and gizmos like you know, fish
- 5:19tanks or bubble tubes and lighting and like soft touch
- 5:23like walls and like ethanol, just like lay down like beds and
- 5:26stuff like that. That's like one way sensory
- 5:29another. Relaxation therapy is to sit
- 5:31completely calm and relaxed in a room listening to like a
- 5:35meditation type of tape when it's completely controlled, like
- 5:37really calm, nice relaxing environment, which is super
- 5:40dope. And then one of the other ones I
- 5:42found just incredibly relaxing is Vibro acoustic therapy.
- 5:47Now I've spoken about this in a few different videos and I
- 5:49actually think I made a video on this a while back.
- 5:54It was a vlog. I was doing a talk in Wrexham
- 5:56which is close to where I live in the UK, which is in North
- 5:58Wales and there was a vibro acoustic bed there and basically
- 6:02it uses like audio waves to vibrate this like bed or chair
- 6:06and it it's so calming like I almost fell asleep when I did
- 6:09this therapy. It was so good.
- 6:11And a friend of mine, Paul, was with me as well.
- 6:13And we, we basically tried this bed out.
- 6:17And the chair, I was in the chair, he was on the bed.
- 6:19And then the therapist was kind of like showing us around, like
- 6:21the room and all the stuff. And you put on different tapes
- 6:23and it was just absolutely fantastic.
- 6:25And they have a few locations. I think one of them is like
- 6:27located in Chester and other ones in Wrexham.
- 6:29I'll try and leave a link for them down below.
- 6:31Vibro Acoustic Therapy. And yeah, I would highly
- 6:35recommend checking that out. They're really, really good.
- 6:37But I found that one the most, like, just amazing.
- 6:40And honestly, like I said to the person, I was like, I've never
- 6:43heard of this stuff. She said, no, it's big in the
- 6:44States. And she had to go over to the
- 6:45United States of America to do the training and get all the
- 6:48equipment and then like ship it back over and it's like a whole
- 6:50thing. And it's super effective.
- 6:52I found it amazing. And Paul really enjoyed it as
- 6:54well. So yeah, big thumbs up for vibro
- 6:56acoustic therapy and the other types of relaxation therapy that
- 6:59you can use. But relaxing is a form of
- 7:01therapy and I find it really difficult to relax.
- 7:04So that's why I found real benefit in vibro acoustic
- 7:06therapy. So yeah, OK, guys, Number three,
- 7:08the last one here in my list of super top three treatments for
- 7:12Asperger's syndrome because that's why I diagnosed with and
- 7:15I know that it's now called just autism spectrum disorder, but my
- 7:18diagnosis papers had asperges on it.
- 7:20So hey ho, what can you do? So this one is occupational
- 7:23therapy. Now occupational therapy is
- 7:26specifically designed for the thing that you need.
- 7:28So in my case I went to see a an autism like occupational therapy
- 7:34group and I asked them for help and support with my like I kept
- 7:38bumping into things like spatial awareness and stuff like that.
- 7:41And then they said it was to do with Sensory Processing
- 7:42Disorder, which is comes comorbidly with autism, right.
- 7:46And and so they they gave me this like we did loads of
- 7:49therapy and it was just absolutely fantastic.
- 7:51We did a thing called the sensory diet, which is not food.
- 7:54It's like physical activity. And you guys have to hit that
- 7:57subscribe button and the notification bell because I'm
- 8:00going to do a video where I'm going to do a week on the
- 8:02sensory diet and film every day to show you like what it's like,
- 8:06how to do it, what it was like before and after and all that
- 8:08kind of stuff and and see the difference that it makes to like
- 8:10my functions. So basically like when I was
- 8:12putting cups down, I was missing the edge of the table.
- 8:14Or if I was out of the cupboard, I keep my hand on the cupboard
- 8:17and I get really sore arms because when I open a door like
- 8:20I don't open it wide enough to fit through it because I have no
- 8:23idea of the spatial awareness. It's a big issue.
- 8:26But the sensory diet actually helped with that.
- 8:27It didn't cure it. Obviously, there's no cure, but
- 8:29it definitely helped it. And it just, it was just really
- 8:32effective. I'm very, very happy with it.
- 8:34And I found that the occupational therapist was just
- 8:36amazing. Like, she knew everything there
- 8:39is to do with sensory processing disorder and knew exactly like,
- 8:42I was like, yeah, but there's this thing, you know, like, I'd
- 8:44say something completely like, how's this related to sensory?
- 8:46And she'd be like, oh, it's like this.
- 8:48And she'd show me like the proprioception chart and talk
- 8:49about muscles and stuff. And I'm like, this is just
- 8:51amazing. Have you been on my life?
- 8:54Like, how did I even survive without knowing this
- 8:56information? So that's super, super awesome.
- 8:58I am going to do video, like I said, on the sensory diet
- 9:01specifically because I had a lot of questions and stuff about
- 9:03that in emails. So I'm going to do video on that
- 9:05because it's going to be a really good guide to doing, you
- 9:08know, that type of type of thing.
- 9:09So yeah, And I think it's going to be really, really beneficial.
- 9:12But occupational therapy is something you can access through
- 9:14your doctor's service or your clinic.
- 9:17So whoever is looking after you and your condition, you can ask
- 9:20to be referred to an occupational therapist.
- 9:22I use the ASD info Wales if anybody living in Wales, I don't
- 9:26know. Obviously a small minority of my
- 9:28views in Wales in the United Kingdom, but they're the ones
- 9:30who hooked me up with an occupational therapist in Wales.
- 9:32But you can just speak to your clinic, or if you're in America,
- 9:35speak to your insurance company and see if they can hook you up
- 9:37with an occupational therapist. I highly recommend it because
- 9:40it's like, it's not scary therapy, it's very good and
- 9:44highly effective therapy. I can't rate it enough.
- 9:46I mean like like out of 10 that gets a 10 out of 10.
- 9:50Like straight up, like 11 out of 10, why not 11 out of 10 dishing
- 9:53out these elevens. Just Anyway guys, I hope you
- 9:57found some kind of, you know, new information from this video
- 10:00and ways that you know you've never thought about.
- 10:02I could probably help you with your condition.
- 10:04And if you think this can help somebody else when I share this
- 10:07on their Facebook page or their Twitter account, it'd be super
- 10:09cool. And if you could do that for me
- 10:10anyway, help spread the word, be super cool as well.
- 10:13All right? I will see you in the next video
- 10:16because you're coming back. Because I love you.
- 10:17All right, Peace.
