- 0:18Speaker 3: Jeremy, Hey, you get eBay.
- 0:21Speaker 2: So we've got the earning season underway to start with
- 0:23Speaker 2: A two milk. What's the market looking for next week
- 0:25Speaker 2: with this result?
- 0:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's fair to say the A two
- 0:29Speaker 3: milk share price this year has been on a bit
- 0:31Speaker 3: of a roller coaster. I mean it started well year
- 0:34Speaker 3: well with an earning's upgrade in February, but since then,
- 0:38Speaker 3: over the second quarter, their share price fell forty percent,
- 0:41Speaker 3: and this was on concerns that their product was out
- 0:44Speaker 3: of stock in China. Their very important China label infant
- 0:47Speaker 3: formula product was struggling to get into market, and to
- 0:51Speaker 3: be fair, they scrambled well. They gave a good update
- 0:53Speaker 3: in June and the share price recovered some thirty percent.
- 0:57Speaker 3: So what are Messes expecting next week at their result?
- 1:00Speaker 3: I mean their outlook for twenty fy twenty seven revenue
- 1:04Speaker 3: growth will be very important. Have they had some disruption
- 1:07Speaker 3: from these stockouts and winning those customers back. They've also
- 1:11Speaker 3: done a really good job recently at releasing new products
- 1:15Speaker 3: and expanding into new geographies. Can they keep the momentum
- 1:18Speaker 3: up there? But what I would say with a two milk,
- 1:21Speaker 3: I mean around updates, it's hugely volatile given the split
- 1:26Speaker 3: views out in the market. So I think there's a
- 1:27Speaker 3: high chance in Monday on Monday that we could get
- 1:30Speaker 3: a big move up or down for a two milk.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Talk to me about Spark, because it has been tough
- 1:34Speaker 2: for Spark recently. A bit of a rally recently though,
- 1:37Speaker 2: but really it's been quite hard. What are we expecting
- 1:39Speaker 2: for their result?
- 1:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean this year has continued to be quite
- 1:45Speaker 3: tough for Spark. I mean, in the first half of
- 1:46Speaker 3: the year the share price was down another twenty percent.
- 1:50Speaker 3: But you're right, I mean it has bounced back a
- 1:51Speaker 3: little bit recently, mainly on that update they gave in
- 1:54Speaker 3: July where they reiter rated their guidance for this result
- 1:59Speaker 3: coming up, and then they announced the strategic review of
- 2:01Speaker 3: their IT services business. So the market next week will
- 2:05Speaker 3: be looking for their view on next year's outlook. But
- 2:08Speaker 3: I think earnings could still be under a little bit
- 2:11Speaker 3: of pressure given their continued mobile market shared declines for
- 2:15Speaker 3: Spark and then comments around the very important dividend and
- 2:19Speaker 3: credit rating could be discussed too. So I suppose the
- 2:22Speaker 3: question is for Sparkan, can this business in its current format,
- 2:25Speaker 3: with its balance sheet, can it sustain the current dividend level?
- 2:29Speaker 3: And I think we really need to see some evidence
- 2:31Speaker 3: of earning stability before the market gets more confidence in
- 2:34Speaker 3: the story.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And then, of course Fletcher Building has been another share
- 2:37Speaker 2: price on a bit of a roller coaster. Are they
- 2:39Speaker 2: going to highlight any green shoots for the construction industry?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Do you think?
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean Fletcher's share price this year. I mean
- 2:45Speaker 3: it's been in the Iran linked washing machine so to speak.
- 2:48Speaker 3: I mean it rarely reasonably well in Q one, alongside
- 2:52Speaker 3: the New Zealand economic recovery, but then we had Iran.
- 2:56Speaker 3: The share price fell thirty percent. But to be fair,
- 2:59Speaker 3: I mean it's bounced back really well. It's pretty much
- 3:02Speaker 3: back to where it was pre Iran. So the market
- 3:04Speaker 3: in my view, is clearly assuming that there will be
- 3:07Speaker 3: an uptick in activity and building material activity local construction.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I mean, we know the residential housing market in Auckland
- 3:14Speaker 3: has has been a bit weak, but can the rest
- 3:16Speaker 3: of the country lifted up? I mean, are these bigger
- 3:18Speaker 3: commercial and government projects getting underway. So, I mean they've
- 3:22Speaker 3: always remained cautious on the outlook, but I think the
- 3:24Speaker 3: market is expecting a decent earning step up coming for
- 3:28Speaker 3: next year, so perhaps some better times ahead for Fletcher Building.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Jeremy, it's good to talk to you, mate, Jeremy Husson,
