- 0:00Speaker 1: I know I'm tired of me saying it too, but
- 0:02Speaker 1: it's the twenty seventeen classic double true. Welcome to Girls
- 0:23Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark of You podcast. I'm Megan and
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'm a longtime Hallmark movie fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:28Speaker 1: former Hallmark hater. Today we're discussing The Perfect Cat, which
- 0:32Speaker 1: originally premiered on the Hallmark Channel in March twenty seventeen,
- 0:36Speaker 1: as part of our fan favorite throwback series. We love
- 0:40Speaker 1: our listeners and we'd love to connect with you outside
- 0:42Speaker 1: of the podcast, so please come follow us on Instagram.
- 0:44Speaker 1: We are in two different places. We are at Girls
- 0:47Speaker 1: Gone Homewark and at Megan and Wendy. Come jump into
- 0:51Speaker 1: our Facebook group. This is where the fan requests come from.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I ask ninety nine percent exclusively in Facebook group. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 1: what movies do you want us to review? And I
- 1:04Speaker 1: know for sure February's movie are totally requested, and I
- 1:09Speaker 1: know there's a lot of happy people about there. So
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm a little bit worried about reviewing those two movies.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But come over to our Facebook group, Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 1:19Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hamewark, Girls Gone, Girl's Gone. Okay, I have
- 1:31Speaker 1: an email that we received. Okay from a woman named Barbara.
- 1:37Speaker 1: By the way, we have nine Barbara's and our Facebook
- 1:42Speaker 1: grow nine might be the most common name in that group. Okay,
- 1:46Speaker 1: this was in response to last week's review of The
- 1:48Speaker 1: Irresistible Blueberry Farm, and she had a lot of insight
- 1:53Speaker 1: into our review. I'm going to read a segment of this.
- 1:56Speaker 1: She does start with a compliment, but I'm gonna jump
- 2:00Speaker 1: right into the constructive criticism. Okay, and I don't this episode.
- 2:04Speaker 1: This email wasn't mean spirited. I think this is a
- 2:07Speaker 1: really interesting take. Barbe says, you really miss the mark
- 2:10Speaker 1: on the Irresistible Blueberry Farm review. However, neither of you
- 2:14Speaker 1: mentioned the heart of the story, how Ellie discovered her
- 2:16Speaker 1: grandmother's early life as a painter, and how she had
- 2:19Speaker 1: to make the difficult choice to give it all up,
- 2:21Speaker 1: including the love of her life. When Ellie was shown
- 2:24Speaker 1: the beautiful mural in the young woman's home, covered for
- 2:27Speaker 1: decades under wallpaper, that sorted a chain of events that
- 2:30Speaker 1: brought the story alive. The paintings, setting, ann cinematography were gorgeous.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The discovery of living blueberry plants and the endangered butterfly
- 2:38Speaker 1: research wrapped it up beautifully and then she goes on
- 2:41Speaker 1: to say some nice things about our review. When I
- 2:43Speaker 1: responded to her, I thought it was really interesting because
- 2:46Speaker 1: if you remember this episode, you Wendy talked about the
- 2:51Speaker 1: how this movie is a fan favorite and what causes
- 2:54Speaker 1: it to be, and you really connected with the Mark
- 2:57Speaker 1: Blucus line about how he felt like he living in
- 3:00Speaker 1: someone else's skin when he was living in Boston with
- 3:03Speaker 1: his right And I thought that was really interesting because
- 3:05Speaker 1: I think it speaks to and this email speaks to
- 3:07Speaker 1: the fact that people connect to these movies for different reasons.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I did not connect to the Blueberry Farm portion of
- 3:15Speaker 1: the story. Me neither, And I actually think the story
- 3:20Speaker 1: of the grandmother when told by Barb is quite beautiful, right,
- 3:26Speaker 1: But I don't think the movie did as great of
- 3:30Speaker 1: a job focusing on the grandmother's story, make the romance
- 3:34Speaker 1: less of the story and the bigger part of the
- 3:38Speaker 1: story be like honoring the grandmother and where she came
- 3:41Speaker 1: from and her history and her story. Would it been
- 3:44Speaker 1: an incredible movie, yes, instead of this torn between two
- 3:48Speaker 1: lovers story with this okay grandma ghost Grandma in the background. Hey,
- 3:53Speaker 1: we love your emails. Thank you for that. I appreciate
- 3:56Speaker 1: that perspective. I do. I really love to hear everybody
- 3:58Speaker 1: else's perspective because I truly believe it's little portions of
- 4:04Speaker 1: these movies that people connect to and what makes them
- 4:08Speaker 1: special to them. Yes, definitely, that happens a lot in
- 4:10Speaker 1: our Facebook group too. There's a lot of disagreement in there,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and not in the contentious way. Someone liked this week's
- 4:17Speaker 1: newer movie that this episode's coming out later in the week,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and it was funny. They were like, I have not
- 4:22Speaker 1: really been on the same page with y'all this week, month,
- 4:25Speaker 1: this year, twenty twenty four. I think it said Wendy,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I hated a Scottish love scheme. You are so round.
- 4:32Speaker 1: She was like, didn't do it for me. I think
- 4:34Speaker 1: she was very diplomatic. That's the word I was looking for. Yes, exactly.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So y'all do not have to agree with us all
- 4:42Speaker 1: the time. We love No, that's the best part about this,
- 4:46Speaker 1: all right, Weddy hit us with a synopsis. Yes, Jessica,
- 4:49Speaker 1: a single parent owner of a struggling diner, finds the
- 4:53Speaker 1: inspiration she needed when her high school boyfriend Chase, a
- 4:57Speaker 1: professional baseball player, returns to town. The perfect Catch was
- 5:01Speaker 1: directed by Stephen R. Monroe. He has fifty six directing
- 5:05Speaker 1: credits Inclaning, one of Girls Gone Hallmark's favorites, Love to
- 5:09Speaker 1: the Rescue. Monroe also directed Pumpkin Pie Wars, Caribbean Summer
- 5:14Speaker 1: and a Winter Getaway. Oh Pumpkin Pie Wars, another wildly
- 5:20Speaker 1: different experience for the two of us. I liked it.
- 5:23Speaker 1: This movie has three writers credited, versus Hans Wasserberger. He
- 5:27Speaker 1: gets both story and teleplay credit. Hans has sixteen writing credits,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and his additional Hallmark credits include I'm Not Ready for
- 5:35Speaker 1: Christmas and a novel Romance, also with a teleplay credit.
- 5:39Speaker 1: We have the writing team of Greg Rosson and Brian Sawyer.
- 5:42Speaker 1: They have thirty nine writing credits which include Three Bed
- 5:46Speaker 1: two Bath One, Ghost, The Professional Bridesmaid, The Santa Steakout,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and quite a few of the crossword puzzle mystery movies.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's a pretty good writing team. Those movies, the ones
- 5:57Speaker 1: we name Santa Steakout, Three Bed two bath One Goes
- 6:00Speaker 1: Great movies. Nikki DeLoach plays Jessica. We most recently saw
- 6:05Speaker 1: Nikki as Professor Ambrose and True Justice Family Ties, a
- 6:10Speaker 1: movie she also co wrote. She has a staggering seventy
- 6:13Speaker 1: one acting credits, which include nineteen Hallmark movies. She and
- 6:17Speaker 1: Andrew Walker can be seen in the Curious Caterer series.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Speaking of Andrew Walker, he plays Chase Tayner. Andrew has
- 6:24Speaker 1: eighty four acting credits, including appearances early in his career
- 6:28Speaker 1: on Are You Afraid of the Dark and Sabrina The
- 6:31Speaker 1: Teenage Witch. Lately, he appears to work almost exclusively with
- 6:34Speaker 1: the Hallmark Channel. His first Hallmark appearance appears to be
- 6:37Speaker 1: in Wie mccumber's Dashing Through the Snow that was in
- 6:40Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, co starring Megan Oorri of Trustbeake Shor's Fame.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Chance hurst Field plays Wesley Nicki's son. Chance is now
- 6:52Speaker 1: seventeen year old actor with twenty six acting credits. He
- 6:55Speaker 1: is most well known for his role as Danny Dixon
- 6:57Speaker 1: on A Million Little Things, where he appeared in seventy
- 7:02Speaker 1: nine episodes. He also appeared in two other Hallmark movies,
- 7:06Speaker 1: sign Sealed Delivered and Christmas List. Vincent Dangerfield plays Brett
- 7:12Speaker 1: Thompson aka Boring Brett Vincent no relation to Rodney. Has
- 7:17Speaker 1: nineteen acting credits, including the Hallmark projects A Tale of
- 7:19Speaker 1: Two Christmases, Darrow and Darrow and a Gift for Christmas?
- 7:23Speaker 1: Can you imagine having the name Dangerfield. I'm sure he
- 7:26Speaker 1: is always asked are you related to Rise? Always? My
- 7:31Speaker 1: last name is Nielsen and people always relate that to
- 7:35Speaker 1: the the Radians rating system. Yeah, weird, right. Lisa Darube
- 7:39Speaker 1: plays Nina. We recently saw Nina in The Irresistible Blueberry Farm.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Among her other seventy acting credits, She's been in Murder,
- 7:48Speaker 1: Sheet Baked, and the Hannson Winson Mystery movies, Time for
- 7:52Speaker 1: Them to Come Home for Christmas and Netflix's To All
- 7:55Speaker 1: the Boys Always and Forever. Peelan Johnson plays I'm Lindy Taynor.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Peelin has been a working actress for thirty six years
- 8:03Speaker 1: and has racked up one hundred twenty acting credits, with
- 8:06Speaker 1: three projects currently in the works. She was in the
- 8:09Speaker 1: first Final Destination movie and a number of Hallmark projects
- 8:12Speaker 1: like Finding Father Christmas, Engaging Father Christmas, and Marrying Father Christmas.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Most recently, she was seen in Magic and Mistletoe from
- 8:19Speaker 1: twenty twenty Threes count Down to Christmas series. Eric keenly
- 8:23Speaker 1: Side plays Mason Tayner. Much like his on screen wife,
- 8:26Speaker 1: Eric has been working for nearly forty years and has
- 8:28Speaker 1: earned one hundred ninety eight acting credits. Incidentally, he was
- 8:32Speaker 1: in Final Destination two and has appeared in many of
- 8:36Speaker 1: the Martha's Vineyard mysteries on Hallmark. Got It? What is
- 8:41Speaker 1: your first impression of The Perfect Catch? My first impression
- 8:46Speaker 1: of this movie is Hallmark seems to give their athletes
- 8:49Speaker 1: a one strike and your out, Polisy, Very similar to
- 8:55Speaker 1: that Marco Grizzini hearts in the game. Yeah, they were
- 8:58Speaker 1: both pictures, right, One bad game and you're out. Yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 1: that's not how it works. No, I don't know a
- 9:06Speaker 1: lot about baseball. You know, sports people make mistakes. Rock
- 9:10Speaker 1: Purty on the forty nine ers cannot get his s together,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and yet his team's going to the super Bowl. Okay, yeah, okay,
- 9:17Speaker 1: here's my first impression. Safe fans, super boring. Let's talk
- 9:21Speaker 1: about what we liked, because here's what I think. This
- 9:25Speaker 1: was a fan favorite, recommended movie. And I look, you
- 9:27Speaker 1: got Nikki Deloch, you got Andrew Walker. What's not to like? Well?
- 9:31Speaker 1: I think this is a perfectly fine movie. It's also
- 9:36Speaker 1: perfectly forgettable one hundred percent. Is it a easy way
- 9:42Speaker 1: to pass an hour and a half sure this is
- 9:45Speaker 1: a Hallmark classic in many ways, it's not rocking the boat.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It sums up twenty seventeen perfectly for Hallmark. It's fine,
- 9:53Speaker 1: it's fine. I'm sure Andrew and Nikki are not thrilled
- 9:57Speaker 1: with the It's Fine review dot. I think they listen
- 10:00Speaker 1: to our podcast when we run into them on the
- 10:03Speaker 1: Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruise. If one of them walks up
- 10:05Speaker 1: to us with the phone and is fine, it's fine.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I mean, if that were to happen, I stand by it. Look,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I've done many jobs that I'm like, not super proud of, right,
- 10:14Speaker 1: so you telling me I would don't think it's not
- 10:18Speaker 1: to be proud of. I think they did their jobs
- 10:20Speaker 1: just fine. I like Nikki and Andrew. I just think
- 10:24Speaker 1: this story just is so safe. It's so so safe,
- 10:28Speaker 1: which in twenty seventeen is what people wanted from Hallmark.
- 10:31Speaker 1: First of all, I hate when Hallmark does sports movies.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I don't think they're ever quite accurate. Yeah, it just
- 10:39Speaker 1: doesn't play well on TV. I just I can't stand it. Overall.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I thought, like you said, I thought it was a
- 10:45Speaker 1: little forgettable. But with that said, Nick, it's a loach
- 10:50Speaker 1: for me. I think has a captivating presence and I
- 10:53Speaker 1: like her a lot. She's charming and warm, like she's
- 10:57Speaker 1: one of the actresses I will tune in for on
- 10:59Speaker 1: the Hallmark channel. Yeah, I just this story was just
- 11:04Speaker 1: like not it like I don't want to watch, just
- 11:07Speaker 1: like Struggling Single Parent, which I don't have any problems
- 11:11Speaker 1: with single parents. I like stories that involve single parents
- 11:13Speaker 1: because I want relatable TV that makes me feel something.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But she hears she is, She's like this diner owner
- 11:20Speaker 1: that's not really cutting it and this mom who doesn't
- 11:23Speaker 1: know how to like relate to her son in the
- 11:26Speaker 1: sports kind of way. I just I found it all
- 11:29Speaker 1: just baseline depressing. Oh interesting. I think Nikki Diloch has
- 11:33Speaker 1: a lot of range. I really like this softer maternal
- 11:36Speaker 1: side of her seen in this movie. But I think
- 11:38Speaker 1: you jump to a movie like what's that Halloween not
- 11:41Speaker 1: Hallmark movie that I loved so much that it was
- 11:45Speaker 1: actually a terrible movie. I thought she was great in
- 11:48Speaker 1: that and a very different character. What was that movie
- 11:52Speaker 1: called Spellbound spelled with a kid something magic, a magic Well,
- 11:57Speaker 1: I can't remember it right now. It was literally three
- 12:00Speaker 1: months ago that we talked about this movie. Your point
- 12:02Speaker 1: is what that I think she has a lot of range.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I think that character that Sassy doesn't know she's a witch, young, floridy,
- 12:08Speaker 1: playful character, very different from this business owner, single mom
- 12:13Speaker 1: trying to get by, focused on work and her family
- 12:17Speaker 1: and her love life takes a little bit of a backseat.
- 12:20Speaker 1: What's the face? I agree with you. I think a
- 12:23Speaker 1: lot of our Hallmark actors end up a little bit typecast,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and I think she can play at all. Like I said,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I liked her. I was rooting for her success. I
- 12:33Speaker 1: was rooting for her success for the diner and a
- 12:35Speaker 1: single parent and so on on and so forth. Now
- 12:38Speaker 1: I do have some wishes. I will get to it. Yeah.
- 12:42Speaker 1: The next thing I liked. Chase's dad is the biggest
- 12:46Speaker 1: jerk in this movie. He's so condescending. When they're at
- 12:50Speaker 1: the dinner table, he says, Oh, you don't want to
- 12:51Speaker 1: hurt those million dollar hands. Yeah he doesn't, but it's
- 12:55Speaker 1: like his job totally. If he had stayed home and
- 12:59Speaker 1: Ronna comes instruction business and was like, I don't want
- 13:02Speaker 1: to do something dangerous that could break my back so
- 13:06Speaker 1: that I can't do my job, you wouldn't think twice
- 13:08Speaker 1: about that. But because his job is throwing a baseball,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and you've decided that's frivolous in spite of the fact
- 13:12Speaker 1: that he's obviously set for life because of this job
- 13:15Speaker 1: he has. That's not good enough. But tell me how
- 13:17Speaker 1: a dad is not proud of his son because it's
- 13:20Speaker 1: not easy to make it in Major League Baseball, right,
- 13:23Speaker 1: so he's had to work in this entire life. I'm
- 13:26Speaker 1: sure to get to this position. And the dad's just
- 13:29Speaker 1: first of all, this is so funny to me because
- 13:30Speaker 1: you're like, let me tell you what I like. This
- 13:31Speaker 1: dad sucks, he do. I liked it because it made
- 13:34Speaker 1: me feel very uncomfortable and it was like, oh, you
- 13:38Speaker 1: liked the drama of it. Yes, what's interesting about that
- 13:41Speaker 1: is I had a million dollar hands common he made
- 13:44Speaker 1: a couple of times. I was like, this, gross, just
- 13:45Speaker 1: stop your cub jerk, because he's here right now and
- 13:49Speaker 1: you're ruining it. I'm wondering if is he upset ashamed
- 13:53Speaker 1: with his son for blowing that big game, and then
- 13:55Speaker 1: here he's like back home and he doesn't have a contract. Well,
- 13:58Speaker 1: but it doesn't make so because later in the movie,
- 14:01Speaker 1: he's on your first game. Your mom and I were there,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and we didn't want to put that pressure on you.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Oh so you loved him so much, you like flew
- 14:07Speaker 1: out and secretly went to this game. You were so proud,
- 14:09Speaker 1: But like, when he's home, are you putting up a
- 14:12Speaker 1: wall because it hurts you when he leaves and he's
- 14:14Speaker 1: not there. Your child is an adult. He left, he
- 14:16Speaker 1: went to go do a job. I'm sorry, it's not
- 14:18Speaker 1: in your small town. It just did you have one
- 14:21Speaker 1: restaurant and a second one opens and all of a
- 14:22Speaker 1: sudden that's business ending drama? Yeah? Okay? Did you like
- 14:28Speaker 1: anything else about this movie? I liked Lisa Darupt. She's
- 14:33Speaker 1: the cutest, freaking adorable and she's one of those ones
- 14:37Speaker 1: to me. Now, I'm like, why has she never had
- 14:39Speaker 1: a lead role? Yeah? I don't get it. She plays
- 14:42Speaker 1: the quirky best friend. Yeah, it gets old after a life.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I think Andrew Walker plays the perfect baseball player. Is
- 14:49Speaker 1: this your liked? Yeah? Interesting when you look at the
- 14:55Speaker 1: seventeen group of Hallmark actors and you're like, way to
- 14:59Speaker 1: one is it gonna be is gonna be Andrew Walker?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Who else? Is it gonna be? Fair? And then I
- 15:05Speaker 1: think the twenty twenty three baseball player as Marcot Gruzzini
- 15:08Speaker 1: also makes the most sense. Okay, this is someone who
- 15:12Speaker 1: follows baseball. Did you like anything else? No, okay, I've
- 15:16Speaker 1: got a lot of wishes, so let's get into it. Okay,
- 15:19Speaker 1: can I start please. I didn't think there was a
- 15:22Speaker 1: ton of depth from the characters of Jessica and Chase,
- 15:27Speaker 1: especially Chase. I found Chase to be pretty unlikable, and
- 15:32Speaker 1: I thought that, say not Andrew. That means that I
- 15:36Speaker 1: think Andrew played Chase pretty because you're this once like
- 15:40Speaker 1: big times baseball stud who got this like million dollar
- 15:44Speaker 1: contract and now you gotta ego to go with that,
- 15:47Speaker 1: of course, because you get all these hotties out on
- 15:49Speaker 1: the road and whatever. You're driving your silver Mercedes and
- 15:53Speaker 1: then he comes home because he like blew it big time.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But he's got a like chip on his shoulder, right,
- 15:58Speaker 1: can't get the next contract. Act that managers not manager.
- 16:02Speaker 1: His agent's not like agenting agenting, Yes, exactly. So he's
- 16:06Speaker 1: got this big chip on his shoulder. And I thought
- 16:08Speaker 1: Andrew played him pretty well. He's super unlikable. I don't
- 16:11Speaker 1: like this guy. I'm not rooting for this guy. First
- 16:13Speaker 1: of all, I think it goes without saying that a
- 16:14Speaker 1: picture in the World Series isn't immediately unhirable after one
- 16:17Speaker 1: bad game. One bad game, maybe even one bad inning,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Let's move on. There's not so many pictures if you
- 16:25Speaker 1: have a bad inning or a couple gave up a
- 16:27Speaker 1: Grand Slam. But that's one bad pitch. I guess he
- 16:30Speaker 1: let the bases get loaded. But at the point that
- 16:32Speaker 1: he let the basses get loaded, that's the pitching coaches problem.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Who should have taken him out of the game, the
- 16:36Speaker 1: total dude. Not let this guy then throw the pitch
- 16:39Speaker 1: that's going to score four runs. Okay, blah blah blah.
- 16:44Speaker 1: They are both in relationships in this movie as they're
- 16:47Speaker 1: falling for each other. I know, I'm tired of me
- 16:50Speaker 1: saying it too, but it's the twenty seventeen classic double trope.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Is he technically in a relationship. He's just got this
- 16:58Speaker 1: hot model piece, So in a relationship, it's not a
- 17:03Speaker 1: one with a lot of depth. But he has a girlfriend,
- 17:05Speaker 1: oh right, and she's off modeling somewhere right. I think
- 17:08Speaker 1: that's what she was like in Europe, modeling, or she's
- 17:12Speaker 1: something stupid like that. I'm about to earn us another
- 17:16Speaker 1: Girl's Gone Woke Review? Are you ready for it? Yes, ma'am,
- 17:18Speaker 1: send your emails attention Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Here we go, father son games and all of their
- 17:28Speaker 1: related brethren, father son picnics, mother daughter, this dance whatever,
- 17:34Speaker 1: stop it. They have got to go. It's not that
- 17:37Speaker 1: hard to come up with some other adult, big kid
- 17:39Speaker 1: combo that allows different kinds of families to participate without
- 17:43Speaker 1: othering people. And I know of which I speak, because look,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I have brought this stuff up at PTA meetings when
- 17:49Speaker 1: they're like, hey, I don't have an elementary school kid anymore,
- 17:52Speaker 1: but I did, and they had a father daughter dance
- 17:54Speaker 1: and I was like, Yo, this is not cool. Call
- 17:58Speaker 1: it anything else. Hey, I could write you a cute
- 18:00Speaker 1: title for a parent child dance. It spend three minutes.
- 18:04Speaker 1: It's othering to children in our community that don't have fathers.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And their response literally in that meeting was not some
- 18:11Speaker 1: kids are just going to be left out of some things.
- 18:13Speaker 1: It's not that hard to create an inclusive environment in
- 18:18Speaker 1: which all different kinds of families can participate. Yeah, I agree,
- 18:21Speaker 1: I agree. I think there's just like this mindset. I
- 18:25Speaker 1: had this at elementary school too, was like there was
- 18:27Speaker 1: like a father daughter dance and the people wanted to
- 18:30Speaker 1: rename it. They did to the Sweetheart Dance. But still
- 18:35Speaker 1: there's still this mindset that people have. They have this
- 18:38Speaker 1: idea of what they want it to be, and they
- 18:40Speaker 1: don't like people who ruffle up against that. And then
- 18:43Speaker 1: people will say, that's a nice moment for the father daughter,
- 18:45Speaker 1: or this baseball gives a nice moment for the father son.
- 18:47Speaker 1: No one's saying you can't have that. Make it father son,
- 18:50Speaker 1: but don't make it so that anybody who doesn't have
- 18:52Speaker 1: the father son situation can't participate without being like this
- 18:56Speaker 1: my mom on the field in a father son jersey.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Yeah it's twenty twenty four, y'all. Granted this was twenty seventeen.
- 19:03Speaker 1: It's not that hard. Yeah. Yeah. Do you have more wishes?
- 19:07Speaker 1: Because I do. I have a couple. Tell me why
- 19:09Speaker 1: Nicky and Andrew are the Catherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy
- 19:14Speaker 1: of Hallmark. Why are they always in movies together? I
- 19:17Speaker 1: don't understand this pairing because to me they give brother
- 19:21Speaker 1: and sister. I want to think, like in The Curious
- 19:24Speaker 1: Care When I think of that series, is there some
- 19:27Speaker 1: hot tension between them maybe in the first episode, but
- 19:30Speaker 1: since then, like not really, And because they're such good
- 19:33Speaker 1: friends in real life, they give seventeenth date to me.
- 19:36Speaker 1: They don't give brother and sister, but they don't give
- 19:38Speaker 1: first date fireworks because they're so comfortable. Okay, so off topic.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I recently saw on Andrew's Instagram he's promoting Home Chef.
- 19:50Speaker 1: He did a sponsor ad for okay, and who shows
- 19:53Speaker 1: up in it, nik Nikki de Loach. And they are
- 19:55Speaker 1: in a kitchen and they're both talking about how great
- 19:57Speaker 1: Home Chef is. And I'm like, you guys aren't a
- 19:59Speaker 1: couple of our life. This is super weird. Why are
- 20:02Speaker 1: you doing this? Shouldn't Andrew's wife and or Nicky's husband
- 20:05Speaker 1: be in this instead? Yeah, that's weird. You're not in
- 20:08Speaker 1: the same kitchen cooking dinner. It just as weird to me.
- 20:12Speaker 1: They have now cemented themselves as this homework duo, right,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I don't get it. And now they're doing sponsored work
- 20:21Speaker 1: as a pair as a fake cover. I don't get it.
- 20:24Speaker 1: That is bizarre to me. It's weird. Okay, one more wish,
- 20:29Speaker 1: two more wishes. I hated all the baseball stuff. I
- 20:31Speaker 1: think I already covered that, even the professional stuff to
- 20:34Speaker 1: the little league shit. I hated it all. Maybe it's
- 20:36Speaker 1: because I don't like baseball. I don't know. Boyfriend Brett
- 20:39Speaker 1: is a terrible boyfriend. If I had a boyfriend, i'm married,
- 20:45Speaker 1: if my husband brought me an air purer fire, I
- 20:47Speaker 1: might be okay with it. But a boyfriend who is
- 20:49Speaker 1: like courting me. No, Yeah, I could get down with
- 20:52Speaker 1: an air purer fire if my husband came home with one.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But we've been married for eight and a half. Yeah, exactly,
- 20:57Speaker 1: it's different, like this is whatever. Yeah, there's no man's
- 21:00Speaker 1: in it. Absolutely not. And then he bounces on her birthday. Yeah,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I would have been pissed. I would have been so pissed.
- 21:09Speaker 1: And finally he shits all over her dream of maybe
- 21:13Speaker 1: being a food truck owner. It's not practical. Who cares, dude,
- 21:16Speaker 1: that's not your job. You're not Her financial advisor just
- 21:20Speaker 1: heeded him. Although I think her food truck is a
- 21:23Speaker 1: terrible idea, but we'll get into it you At twenty seventeen.
- 21:26Speaker 1: My final wishes, could we have a touch of communication please?
- 21:30Speaker 1: The final conflict is easily resolved with two steps. I
- 21:33Speaker 1: don't even know this guy's name. What's Andrew's name? His
- 21:36Speaker 1: name is Chase. Andrew says, Hey, Spence, can I fly
- 21:38Speaker 1: out Saturday morning please? I have a big event I
- 21:41Speaker 1: need to attend on Friday afternoon that I've committed to. Yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: and then he says, hey, Jess, I gotta go to work.
- 21:46Speaker 1: But let's got a plan for us to see each other,
- 21:48Speaker 1: not like I gotta go to work. By our world
- 21:51Speaker 1: has ended. People are married and travel for professional sports
- 21:56Speaker 1: all the time. Yeah. And finally, the also, the communication
- 22:01Speaker 1: is terrible because they are not actually offering him a
- 22:04Speaker 1: playing position, but they're offering him a coaching position, and
- 22:07Speaker 1: his agent A didn't know that or B didn't disclose
- 22:10Speaker 1: it and wants to get him on a plane to
- 22:12Speaker 1: get offered a coaching job, which wasn't even what he wanted.
- 22:16Speaker 1: And now he's ready scout to retire. That's what I
- 22:19Speaker 1: don't understand. I'm just gonna give it up and be
- 22:22Speaker 1: a scout, which I'm sure is a perfectly fulfilling job.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But he didn't seem to be done with baseball, and
- 22:27Speaker 1: it would be better if he like was playing baseball,
- 22:30Speaker 1: got injured, has to have that Tommy John surgery or
- 22:33Speaker 1: whatever I know a little bit about baseball. That would
- 22:37Speaker 1: have been a better Now what do I do with
- 22:40Speaker 1: my life now I'm back home? What do I do now?
- 22:43Speaker 1: Now my agent's finally mean something else? Sure, but even
- 22:47Speaker 1: after Tommy John they come back. Oh Tony had Tommy John?
- 22:50Speaker 1: I know he just got one billion dollars about Dodgers.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Every Angel fan knew he was leaving the Angels. It
- 22:56Speaker 1: was my husband, who has been a lifelong Angel fan,
- 23:01Speaker 1: born and raised in Orange County. Is I don't know
- 23:03Speaker 1: if I can cheer for the Angels anymore. They have
- 23:06Speaker 1: just completely ruined their entire organization because they not because
- 23:10Speaker 1: of Otani. If they just can't get their shit together. No,
- 23:12Speaker 1: they're a mess. Is Trout even still there? Yeah? Trout's
- 23:15Speaker 1: going to retire from the Angels. What was his contract?
- 23:18Speaker 1: Seven hundred million dollars something crazy? So they need new
- 23:22Speaker 1: ownership there? Sorry? Bye, Alreaty Arty's gotta go. Okay, everybody,
- 23:27Speaker 1: If I did to see that, Jess turned off the podcast,
- 23:29Speaker 1: no come back because I got some hot takes. Okay,
- 23:32Speaker 1: see that? And did you see that? I hated this
- 23:35Speaker 1: movie so much that I didn't watch it that closely.
- 23:38Speaker 1: But I do have two thanks to correspondent Mike. Yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: Mike wrote us an email. He talks about boyfriend Brett
- 23:44Speaker 1: cheering on Jessica and Chase at the end of the movie,
- 23:47Speaker 1: like raw, he's so excited in the stands, like laughing
- 23:51Speaker 1: and clappin' and thinking about it, I think, well, maybe
- 23:54Speaker 1: he just figured out, like maybe he didn't really like Jessica.
- 23:57Speaker 1: He gave her an air purifier. Maybe he was like, oh,
- 24:00Speaker 1: she's yours now, dude. Eh. Maybe. But also the weirdest
- 24:04Speaker 1: part about that is then like at the they the
- 24:06Speaker 1: game hasn't even started, they kiss it pans out Jessica's parents,
- 24:12Speaker 1: Nina and Luring, Brett all like flood the field and
- 24:16Speaker 1: he stands back, but they're all like clapping for them, y'all,
- 24:19Speaker 1: this is a Little League father son game. What are
- 24:21Speaker 1: we doing? Yeah, And they're like they move out to
- 24:24Speaker 1: the pictures mound, like they move away from the line
- 24:26Speaker 1: of players and they have there never been kissed moment.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, one of my all time
- 24:32Speaker 1: favorite movies, but super problematic because the teacher is kissing
- 24:35Speaker 1: a woman who he thought was a student and they
- 24:38Speaker 1: have that same sort of like on the mound kiss. Yeah,
- 24:41Speaker 1: my next did you see that? Thanks to Mike was
- 24:43Speaker 1: a screen grab. I will put it in our show
- 24:46Speaker 1: notes at Megananwindy dot com. There are street signs with
- 24:50Speaker 1: absolutely no names on them. It is bizarre. I asked Meghan.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I showed to her. I was like, do you think
- 24:55Speaker 1: like they just blocked them out here? Are they so
- 24:58Speaker 1: specific to this neighbor that they didn't want them there?
- 25:03Speaker 1: One of them says north and South, but it doesn't
- 25:05Speaker 1: say north and south Main Street. It just is north
- 25:07Speaker 1: south a big blank green space underneath. And the other
- 25:10Speaker 1: one is literally just a blank green sign. So funny.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I wonder if maybe they was supposed to be like
- 25:15Speaker 1: chase taan away and they didn't go back in, and oh,
- 25:18Speaker 1: maybe they fix up the food truck, which actually I
- 25:21Speaker 1: thought was quite a fun sequence of events, like the
- 25:24Speaker 1: cleaning up. I like a renovation montage too. I like
- 25:28Speaker 1: that a lot, and I thought it looked quite cute
- 25:29Speaker 1: when they were done with it. But she's, oh, we
- 25:32Speaker 1: don't have our permits for food, so we're just gonna
- 25:35Speaker 1: go pick up food from the diner and then drive
- 25:38Speaker 1: around with it. And I was like, that sounds terrible
- 25:40Speaker 1: because you know what's not good is diner food that's
- 25:43Speaker 1: been sitting in the truck and tries that been in
- 25:45Speaker 1: a box and the words she's I'll take three corn dogs.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I'm like, that corn dog's been in that truck for
- 25:50Speaker 1: at least half an hour. Who was a soggy corn dog? Yeah?
- 25:54Speaker 1: And my other question, and Mike brought this up to you,
- 25:57Speaker 1: They're like, it's time for the grand reopening of the restaurant.
- 26:00Speaker 1: The restaurant close. Did the restaurant need a little refresh Okay,
- 26:04Speaker 1: but they like do it all in one night? Yeah,
- 26:08Speaker 1: maybe we missed a step. Yeah, I need the retconning?
- 26:13Speaker 1: Is it? Are they like, oh, Jessica has been ignoring
- 26:17Speaker 1: the restaurant to fall in love with Chase. So let's
- 26:21Speaker 1: pretend like this was planned and the restaurant was closed
- 26:23Speaker 1: in preparation for a grand reopening. That's how we're gonna
- 26:26Speaker 1: make this make sense. Perhaps, what did you rate the
- 26:30Speaker 1: Perfect Catch? Two stars? Girls Gone Hallmark? I gave it
- 26:34Speaker 1: three stars, really right down the middle. Nope, it was
- 26:39Speaker 1: a joke. It was a joke. I actually think three
- 26:42Speaker 1: stars are too generous. I'm gonna leave it at that
- 26:45Speaker 1: because I'm not gonna take them away? Can we make
- 26:48Speaker 1: a T shirt that says right down the middle? Yes.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Thank you for listening to this episode of Girls Gotte Homework.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Hopefully you've caught on to our current rotation of episodes.
