Joining us now, three time Stanley Cup champion and member of the hockey hall of fame, Joey Mullen. Joey, welcome to the Z. Well thanks for having me guys. It's ⁓ glad to be here. We've been trying to get you for a little bit and we finally nailed you down on the golf course. I don't know how much you've really been trying, but well you know what? You're I believe you might be our first Hall of Famer. So that's what Dougie's telling me. Yeah, well Dougie definitely not a Hall of Fame, but that's okay. He's a big fan of the Zebras. So, ⁓ w we're here for the Warrior for Life Fund. ⁓ you you played in the Bruins alumni games against the guys. What's it mean to be a part of ⁓ an event like this? ⁓ it's just I mean, you you look around and you see all these great players coming in to do this for the Warriors and Yeah, we it's it's just a great time for everybody. ⁓ the games that we play against them, they're very competitive. Yeah. ⁓ and I I I kinda like it that way. ⁓ and you know, it's just ⁓ it's a great charity. And ⁓ you know, we we love doing it. I think the Warriors love doing it and we got ⁓ good thing going right now with the with both ⁓ both groups. Yeah, it's a great partnership you guys have. Right. And it's you know, it's a great cause to be a part of. Yeah. Like the Warrior for Life in in hockey they it kinda goes hand in hand and it you know benefits them and it's like very good ⁓ program. Like they look at us as their hockey heroes. Right. But they're the real heroes. One hundred percent and if you can do anything for you know the real hero heroes no gotta go for it. We gotta we gotta do it. Absolutely. Because ⁓ they're the ones that protect us. Absolutely. Now in the Bruins alumni games you mentioned you like it competitive. And you know sometimes you look like you could jump right back in. I try to play my hardest. I'm getting a little old, but you don't look at all I I got I gotta try a little harder now because ⁓ we're playing against a lot of younger kids. I don't know, the bees need that second line set them, yeah. I don't know. Right? ⁓ who do you like in the Stanley Cup? I you know what? I I like both teams. I I I'm kinda rooting for Carolina. Okay, I I kinda like their style of hockey and their coach ⁓ coach is is doing a great job yeah ⁓ rod's been tremendous there in Carolina. So yeah, I I'd I'd like to go for Carolina. They they they play such a heavy style. Yeah. I mean ⁓ they're they're impressive. ⁓ and and Vegas beat the apps. Well I think the apps didn't have their injuries. Yeah. I think Vegas, you know, did the right thing they they were hitting Montreal pretty good, you know, and took them out of the plays a lot. So, I I expect more of that against ⁓ Carolina too. Now you you won three of them. We ask everyone who's won a Stanley Cup, what's it like to raise that thing over your head after you win it? ⁓ it's just a tremendous feeling like, you know you know, you finally hit the the big one, you know? And ⁓ to ⁓ To win a Stanley Cup and raise that thing over your head just got one kinda surprised me at first. It's a little bit heavier than I thought. You're not the first to say it. Yeah, right. Yeah. But yeah, but you you find a way to get it over your head as quick as possible, you know, and and enjoy that moment and and with the bands and and your teammates and ⁓ it's just an incredible feeling. Now the first one I'm sure was special, obviously the first one, but was there one of the three that kinda really stands out for you? ⁓ probably the first one. always ⁓ you know it's it's it's the first time you get those emotions and and and those feelings of winning the ultimate prize. And so I I I would have to go That makes sense. Now you you're in the Hall of Fame, so ⁓ we asked a lot of guys, who would be on your Mount Rushmore for hobby? And I know it's not an easy question. I know it's not an easy question, but for those players you're talking about. What ⁓ NHL. NHL. Yeah, NHL. ⁓ no all time. All time. All time. Well you g I I would definitely put Bobby Or. Consensus for the grad speed, Fourth one's always tough. Yeah. Let's see Ray Baug. That's a good one. Yeah. He was. Goaltending. ⁓ Yeah, go. Wild was the best. handily want to copy. Montreal, but with the rats. You can say it, they beat Calvary. I know. I know. That's what you're trying to do. I didn't want to say it. I didn't want to say it. I remember that cup too. Yeah. Yeah. That was incredible. ⁓ they beat us good. Yeah. We won the first game, they won four. Yeah. But we got them back in 89. So like I remember that 'cause like I I had a bet with my father because I hated Montreal, right? Like just being in Boston, right? I wanted Calgary to win that cup so bad. Well ⁓ Joey, thanks for joining us. Yes, this is awesome. What do you I I how I mean you're a good golfer, I assume? No. No I thought for sure you were gonna say like a three handicap or something. The game's not bad. Not good. Well, I can hit straight straight down the middle with the drive. How's the pot? That's kind of how my game is. I can drive. I can't putting chip. Yeah, Gino can drive, but after that, he's we don't use his shots. So, well, Joey, thanks for joining us on the Zebras. We really appreciate it. And as as someone that was, I I've watched you my my whole life as someone that was ⁓ someone I looked up to all the way back to you know your days at BC. It was just you know an honor of not only skate with you at the Rhodes alumni but have you on the show as Well thank you for having me. Right on. This has been great. Joey Muller, three time Stanley Cup champion and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Joining us now on the Zebras from WAAF. Greg Hill. Greg Welk. ⁓ what? Give me W E E I. Give me some W-E-E-I credit. Didn't I say W-E-E-I? No, you said AAF. This is not 1992. Josh in my head. Josh Dolan, work with you. W-E-E-I. This is the booba rail. This is the hooper rail. As long as you get the name. You want me to redo that? No, no name, right? As long as you say the name, I'm fine. It was in my head, because I'm psyched to be Host of the modern radio W EEI with How's it going, Greg? What are we talking about? I'm excited. ⁓ Yeah on EEI. Yes. And ⁓ ninety three point seven. And you ⁓ the Greg Hill Foundation, which is such a a great, great organization, part of the ball drop today. Yes. ⁓ what's it mean to be a part of something for ⁓ the Warrior for Life Fund. Well what they do is incredible and I met those guys probably six months ago. found out what they do down at Virginia Beach and it's incredible. We we spend a lot of time in sports, you guys, us talking about concussions and head injuries and how that can be changed the way you know we approach sports. ⁓ but we don't talk about it at all when it comes to the men and women who are our warriors who go I I have zero balls. I'm a pussy. ⁓ so for those that those those who go out and do what they do, we ought to be spending every cent we have trying to find ways to keep them safe. So what the work that they do when it comes to those brain injuries, ⁓ to PTSD, to the overabundance of ⁓ alcoholism that that affects the men and women who have given their time and their lives for us ⁓ is the most important work that can be done. More than I always say that you know that Navy SEALs are my rock stars. You know, anyone could walk in, I mean Tom Brady, whoever it was, you know, we can do what they do. Not well, but we could do that. We can't do what SEALs do. No, they're not here. No. It's unbelievable. And they're the the bravery that they show and they do it. They don't expect accolades for it. They don't they don't get paid well. I mean I the list goes on and on and on. So to be here and be a part of this is really important and really cool. Now you mentioned the the ball drop, right? So ⁓ what is that all about? What does that entail? So we got going on ⁓ and those guys kindly reached out and said, Hey, let's partner together on it, our foundation, your foundation. So I think there's a helicopter that's gonna fly over. Yep. And they're gonna drop all of the balls. as a older guy, I know what that's like when your ball strap. It's a real ⁓ I'm with you. It's a real I'm with you. It's a real ⁓ All right, it's a real it's a real issue, but ⁓ somebody's gonna walk away and and make some money. We'll see if they give the money back or if they keep it. Yeah, yeah. That's always I would think I would think I bought I bought one and I swear to I swear to God I go, am I a dickhead if I just take the money? I think you might. I think I dickhead you have to give it back. I think you do, right? I think you have to give half back your eye. I was like I was like what about five grand? I was like, what about five grand? We take the twenty. Buy around with buy around for everybody with whatever, but it's a really, really cool thing and it's a great it's great to see so many people here supporting this event. Yeah, no, it's it's amazing. And your foundation, ⁓ you know, I've donated before because what you do in giving the money right away to the people that need it is unlike a lot of foundations and a lot of ⁓ you know organizations that try to help people. And you know, there might be people out there that don't know about it. I don't know how, but Talk a little bit about that because it's such a great, great thing we do. I I started it before there was crowdfunding. So I wanted to find a way when we would walk in and do the show on W E E I. ⁓ in the morning, something something horrible would have happened and people are like, How can we help? And it would take two to three weeks for somebody to set something up at a local credit union. There was no way like people We're talking about it, cared about. There was no way to to find a place to give centrally. So I want to start it for that reason. And I wanted people to be able to get the money right away so they can, and it's horrible, but people don't have, you know, a funeral costs fifty thousand dollars or whatever costs. And people don't have that money. They're just sitting around. So want to find a way that we can get the money to them immediately. ⁓ I ⁓ all I do is talk, we have some incredible people who do all the work and most importantly the people give we have we've been around for 16 years and we have donated over 34 million dollars to that's incredible to ⁓ over 10,000 different beneficiaries. And so that's all because we live in the most generous place. We live in the rudest place in the world and the most generous place in the world. ⁓ and people give all the time. So it's awesome. It's a great thing. Now are you golfing today? define golf. As well as you can. Yeah, this is my course. I b I belong here. ⁓ wow. ⁓ so I should have some sort of an advantage. You should have. Yeah, see got the You know where all the bellies are. ⁓ you got your granite? I my Granite Lynx. Granite Lynx is our favorite place. This is this course is ⁓ is a is a is a cool Awful experience. The windows 100%. It's well played. That's what's you're if you're under a buck, you you had a good day out. Yeah. No, that's I try to break a hundred every time off here. Yeah. And then it's the best views of the city you can possibly know. It's unbelievable. Okay. And I I highly recommend the dog at the turn. Well, yeah. Dog at the turn, yep. Eat a bucket of beers. Yeah. What do you put on the dog? Mustard. Yeah, mustard only. Yeah, that's a new two. I'm a mustard only guy. I know from listening, you know. Shouldn't even be a condiment. You know, it's a ketchup. It's like what it's like tomato juice. Like what what good ketchup though, you gotta get the goods. No? All right. Well, we're gonna be out there actually on one of the part three's church with people. Okay. So we're hoping that your force is nice to me. Of course we'll be nice to you. Anyone who comes on with us, we're gonna lay it off from Boezy. You our Lady told me that Josh is doing good. We gotta give Josh a shout out and his dad Jim. Yes, Jim. You know, he's got a lot on his plate or he'll be here today. ⁓ he knows a lot of the ⁓ seals that are here today. ⁓ we went down to Virginia Beach ⁓ back in ⁓ Thanksgiving. And so ⁓ he's he's ⁓ one of the best. Yeah, they went down in Jordan, yeah. They put down the Virginia Beach and did the whole thing. Yeah. Wasn't Ally afraidie great? ⁓ he was awesome, he was unbelievable. Looks like looks like he could if he wanted to punch out, he could still punch out. 100%. He was such a nice guy, and I I listened because I listen to your show every day. Yeah, no lie, I'm not saying that because you're on, and My favorite answer was when you said are you good you know, what's your handicap? And he said, I don't know, I'm just good. Such an L it's full confidence. Such an L hit. Like he's just not another. So Al Al's awesome. And ⁓ and so are you for the work that you do. And ⁓ appreciate it. W-E-E-I. W-E-I. Old school A F A F Greg Hill. Probably W R R O R next week, like who knows what WMJX, satellite radio. You started your garage, right? That's right. I started in your garage spinning records. I started in my garage. Here you are. You know? Nobody's listening. Now you're on the zebras. I made it on the zebras. You made it to sit up. That's it. Thanks, guys. Love it. Greg Hill, everyone. Joining us now, 1980 Olympic Hero. Mike Aruzioni, gold medal winner. We finally got you on. Welcome to the zebras. Thank you. Thank you. I I love zebras. The animal, not the referee. No, no, I know. Right? we're here for the Warrior for Life Fund. What's it mean to be a part of something like this that helps out retired Navy SEALs, active SEALs, and gold star families? That's what it's all about. ⁓ you know, I I've said this for many, many years. You know, other than being a police officer or firefighter or somebody in the military who protects and serves our country. Yep. the only thing better than that is putting on a USA jersey representing and playing for your country. And I think when you see an event like this, you see the love and the support and how much people care about what these people have done, men and women. ⁓ it's what makes our country so great. People like that and events like this. Yeah, it's it's ⁓ now winning a gold medal. What what was that like? I mean I remember watching it and not live because it was on tape, right? But what was that like it's just ⁓ I think it's just a very proud feeling. Yeah. ⁓ and to be able to do it in our case in our country, you know, in Lake Placid, ⁓ made it that much more special. At a time and as a country we were looking for something to feel good about. We could use a nineteen eighty now. ⁓ we could. Not for us, it's over and ended, but what that moment meant to a country and again how proud we were t to be in a position to be able to do it. had so much fun with it. Yeah, I don't think people realized at the time with the Cold War going It was so much more than a hockey game. Yeah, and we didn't know that. We were just playing. You know, there were only three T V stations. There was no Twitter or Facebook or the TikTok. Yeah, the shit that you guys gotta deal with. ⁓ it was a little village in Lake Placid and when we won we we found out that it was like we said, it was more than a hockey game. It was a hostage that had been taken. The gas line, inflation, ⁓ Not a good time for our country and l along we come and ⁓ just brought some joy to people. And you know, I I I can't tell you how many times people come up to me and they'll tell me, depending on how old they were. ⁓ I I remember where I on D Day, I remember where the Challenger blew up, I remember nine eleven, I remember when Kennedy was assassinated, and I remember where we where I was when We won. Yep. And I always go, Wee, I didn't know you were on the team. Right, right. You know? But but that's what that mo people come up They'll start crying. Yeah. I'm gonna make you guys feel real old. I wasn't in Bond yet. I was in eighty two. I figured that. I remember where it was. I was sitting on a ⁓ like a hassock thing, ⁓ you know, the chair thing that you put your feet on in my in my breezeway. And I mean, you know, I I don't think it was one of my greatest sports memories from when I was a kid. Because it was not it wasn't Boston, it wasn't Chicago, it was the United States. And I think that's you know when we won and realized what moment meant, it's just a big deal of pride. And and it was a bunch of teammates, like kids, right? It wasn't like it is now. No. What's your thoughts on that? Should the pros play? Yeah, absolutely. Okay. Because they're so good and they compete against. You know, my concern was would they compete against each other because they're teammates? Yes. And when I talked to some of the players, they said, ⁓ no, it's a whole different ballgame now. Yeah. And you saw that. We saw that in the In this last Olympic games, our men and our women. ⁓ they're swept. We swept, I mean how about that? Three of them, right? Yeah, and the women and the sled the the sled hockey team. So again, I I think when you know they're gonna compete against each other, even though some of them are teammates, they they separated that and we saw a great tournament and you know I I I think that the European countries are better now than they were twenty, thirty years ago as well. So the competition's a lot more equal than it used than it used to be. Yep. Now what was it like playing for Kirby Rooks? it was like playing for Jack Parker at Boston University. You've had a couple of good coaches. Yeah, that's how coaches coached. You know, I always tell people all the time, that's what it was like in the seventies. Like my high school football coach, my high school baseball coach, they demanded a lot and they challenged you every day. You know, I always tell people Herb was like your dad. You know you love your dad. Sometimes you hate your dad because he makes you do things you don't want to do. You want to be respected, right? And those are the two things with Herb. Respect and trust. Yep. If you don't respect your coach, you're in trouble. If you don't trust your coach, you're in trouble. Right. We we we understood this is the way it was gonna be and you deal with it. I'm not quitting. I want to be on this team. Yeah. You guys executed. Yeah. Yeah. Big time. You he put it together and we followed the program. Results were there. I gotta tell ya, now every time, and it's not often, but when you call me, no matter who I'm with, I go, Mike Aruzion the Olympic Champion call me. I've been with him a few times. ⁓ yeah. He does do that. Yeah. And no big deal. Yeah. They're like, but that's not really him. Well it's the curry education. Yeah. You know. Hey your your brother is the A D over there. He's coming over today, he said. He's a member here at Grant Links. ⁓ good. ⁓ good. Yeah, no. So I I seriously it's it's pretty cool. I wish my dad was still alive to see that. And y I you're in my phone and ⁓ And I do want to do comedy on the boat again. That was pretty that was really tough. No. So I'll let you know. No, definitely. Well you you always say I don't have any new material and I have new material all the time. So well you're hanging around these guys. You gotta have new material, right? Well Mike, we thank you for stopping by. This is awesome. You must be a scratch golfer, right? Are you out there? I just I I identify as a female now when I play, so I move up instead of teeth. That works. That works. Yeah. I got in trouble myself in trouble for saying it, but it is pretty furniture. Just bring your gold. From the yellow tees, you're fine. I bet you hit from off the ground. Wherever I want to hit from. Exactly. Yes, absolutely. We've got cod plants in this city and in this country. Mike Ruzzioni everyone. Joining us now. The color commentary for the Boston Bruins on the sports hub, Bob Deers. Bob, welcome to the Z. It's good to be here. It's good to be here. This is This is a big one for us, you know, for the alumni and I know there's a lot of other people here as well as as far as ⁓ representation, but it's th this the Warrior for Life is a big one for for the Bruins alumni. And I Frank Simonetti's been fantastic at helping sure that that ⁓ that to get everybody involved. We played games against them and they're tough games. They're good. Have you refereed them? No yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He broke his foot. Yeah, Chris Willie, one of the SEALs. I didn't know that. I got shot by a Navy SEAL and lived. So I dropped my head. I finished the game, though. I finished the game. I said to him, don't you guys aim right? So, ⁓ but those games are ⁓ are great. Those ⁓ the like the SEALs, they're the real heroes, you know? Yeah. We so Frank and I went, Frank Simonetti and I went ⁓ down to Virginia Beach. Incredible down visited SEAL Team 6 compound. It was the first year that that he got involved with it. Okay. Took my daughter down, got her whole view of the compound was fantastic. Blows me away some of the stuff that they do. They showed us some of the stuff that they do. Treatments and everything. Yeah, yeah, everything. And since then, Frank has it's been expanding. You know, and Frank has gotten more and more involved with it. Yeah, it's probably ten years ago that we went down there. Some some somewhere around there and it was that was something. SEAL team six has their own compounds. Yeah. It's not the elite. I thought yeah. actually Chris was the one that explained how that works. Yeah. That you don't get on that team in unless you're one of the elite of the elite, which is in insane. Yeah, I I I I was fortunate enough when I was working hockey schools several years ago, I I had a young kid that was in the biker school. Mm-hmm. And his father was a Sloop thing sis. And that's how I kinda got involved with the whole thing. You know, ⁓ that was my first you know eye opening experience with them. And ⁓ he still lives in Virginia Beach, so his kids in college now and i mean just crazy stuff we could do. ⁓ yeah, they they're not It's great work. Yeah. They're not new They really aren't. No. what ⁓ we gotta ask you. What ⁓ what do you think the Bruins future is for next year? Where where do you see them going? I think they're gonna have a tough time, I really do. I I think that they ⁓ I I give ⁓ full marks of what they did this year. Agreed. I the reason I say tough time is because I think Detroit's gonna be better. Ottawa's not going anywhere, Montreal's not going anywhere. I don't think Buffalo's going anywhere. Right. Florida will probably be back, Tampa's g that that's their whole division. Right. You have to finish in the top five or maybe even four if you want to be in the playoffs. So I they I think they have the toughest division. I mean the central the is kind of top heavy, right? You got Dallas and Colorado and right and ⁓ Minnesota Minnesota, yeah. Thank you. And but the the Atlantic division is I don't think there's many weak teams in It's a gone anymore. Yeah. And now you're gonna have eighty four games, you're gonna play a couple more against a division. you know what they do in the off season in terms of free agency or trades, I I think that's important to you know, and then and then we'll have a better understanding of where they're gonna sit. But I I just think it's such a tough division. What's the biggest area of need for you? I think they need a a a really good defenseman. so you would have McAvoy, Lindholm, and X as your top three. Some somebody that's out on they're out on the ice all the time. You know, like you look at some of the teams right now, I think Carolina's a little bit of an outlier because they just they have everybody, but the top teams have at least three. Really good defenseman. Yep. And then you gotta look at a center win. You know, you gotta look at a forward that has an impact. Top six guy, yeah. Yeah, yeah. You need a top six forward. Definitely. So those those two areas. I mean you're gonna you're good in goal. ⁓ I think you're good on your bottom six. ⁓ you know, you got pasta and you know you're geeky, you know, you're you're pretty good in some of those areas, but you might need not might. You need one more guy up top. You need a bet. Yeah. Yeah. No, not a bet there's anything and somebody that can drive play. Somebody they can drive for. Now how do you think they do that? I mean they got James Hitchens, which is a great pick, I think, and has a great future. I hope so. You know, how do they do it? Free agency? A trade. Trade. Okay. Trade. Yeah. I mean they've got they've got first round picks now. First round pick, they get some young talent too. They can they do, they do. That that that might come part of it, you know, if the if the if the numbers are right, but it's I think ⁓ you know, you want your first round picks, you want to try to keep them. if you can, but at the same time, if you're gonna add somebody that's gonna help you now and you're in it to to win games now, which they say they are. Yeah, right. gotta bring somebody else in. Great. What did you think about Toronto getting the first pick? ⁓ I didn't even mention Toronto. Is that a sham you don't have a complete I didn't mention good teams. Yeah no you don't need to mention Toronto ends up I have my feeding themselves opinions on that. Okay. I'm not afraid to share them. I can't it I'm not surprised at all. Yeah I it's they have the smallest percentage Like one of the smallest. The Bruins finished fifth worst in the league last you know, year before. Yep. And we got the seventh pick. Toronto finished fifth worst in the league this year, and they got the first pick. Do the match. ping pong balls and nothing else. One might have had a little tape on it. Yeah. One was a little heavier than the others. That was that was a salty job right there. So nothing to see here. Right? Seriously? No. There was no chance they were dropping out of the top five. No way. No way. No. And it killed the Brutons with the pick. It does and it doesn't, because now so now I've started w look at this. So let's just say For example, they pick McKenna. Yeah. Is he ready to step in and make a huge impact? Like a minus 17 this year. Penn State. So their pick's not protected next year. Right. So it doesn't matter where they finish in the standings, the Bruins. Right. Is it next year or the year after? I think it's next year. Next year. Yeah. Yeah. Florida's involved somehow too. You're right. But it's not ⁓ protected. So Could work out great. They could get the first pick again. If they don't do well, there's a good chance they will. Everybody's rooting against Toronto. That's the story. Absolutely. Why wouldn't it? Not enough bad things can happen to them. Great city. Yeah, right. ⁓ fantastic. No, and and and Miners in the Cup, which is Marners in the Cup. ⁓ and they lost them for nothing. Yeah. And they've making GM changes and whatever other whatever Matt Sundine's title is, I don't even know. know. I don't think they know coach change, you know, so yeah. Yeah, they can they can continue to start. Awesome. Awesome. Well Bob, thank you very much for joining us. This is awesome and ⁓ keep up the great work. Love listening to you. Yeah love listening to you. You and Ryan are great broadcast. You've been doing that a lot. This year was at almost 30 next year be 30 years. Next season will be 30 years. Wow. Yeah this season was a lot better to call than the last one. A little bit. Yeah Little bit. Just a little bit. That's awesome. Well Bob, thanks ⁓ for joining us on the Zebras. Thank appreciate it. Thank you. Awesome. Joining us now from Granite Links, ⁓ golf pro Nick Tedeski. Nick, welcome to the Zebras, man. Thanks for having us on. This you know what, it's great that ⁓ you know Kevin Mason obviously very involved with putting this tournament together. ⁓ absolutely. As the golf pro here, what's it mean to have a tournament for the Warriors for Life fund here on your course? I mean it's fantastic. We've rolled hundreds of outings here over the years. I mean, we do about 30 a year. Anytime you can have a great cause like this, I mean that's something we want to get behind. I mean, this is probably the biggest event we've ever held here in the 2017 holes. Yeah, we'll be yeah. So I mean we normally do 18 hole events here, but when he said he I want make this thing a monster. This is literally a monster. So it's pretty cool to kind of see and I mean like I said when you have a great cause, a couple good causes getting behind it. It's something that we want to support. We want to make sure that is top notch. Absolutely. Now your course here is very difficult. Yeah. Right? I mean it's I've only played it once even though my family's been members forever. I I played with my brother Doc Riley last year. It's not easy. No. I if the wind's gusting up here too, which you get in the bookends, which is the spring and the fall, you could have twenty, thirty mile an hour winds on any given day. So if you're f and we're linked style. We're one of the only link style courses in Massachusetts or New England and it's target golf. So you have fifty to seventy five yard wide fairways, but you also gotta hit over ravines, you gotta hit over quarries, you gotta hit over some palms. I mean that first that first hole off a grain, it's unbelievable. And you're going down about fifty it fifty feet ⁓ It's a while. It depends how much box you're on. It's it's crazy, and you two ravines you to hit over, one before the green end. ⁓ yeah, and when in mid summer, when the fescue's up here, like you're saying, you can add some numbers real quick. We had the handicap committee come out here and they're raiding the course and stuff like that. Members are like, hey, why is it raided so hard? I'm like, the guy guy on the committee goes, Well, you hit you hit the max penalty things on every single hole. You fescue left, you fescue right, you quarries over here to the right. He goes, Wherever you wherever you miss, he goes, You're in trouble. So yeah. If you're if you're a golfer that struggles to keep it relatively straight, you don't have to be a long player to play here. But if you can't keep it straight, yeah, you you get some big numbers quick out here. That was my problem. Yeah, you I don't hit it straight. Hey, it's gol it's golf. Any any day things can change. Right. Yeah, that's a lot of fact. What's the tough what's the toughest hole out there? ⁓ probably Milton Three. Milton three. Milton three. Yeah, because usually it's into the wind. You're hitting a two hundred and eighty yard shot to the pond. And then from that pond is about a hundred and seventy yards into a green. That's kinda it's like a potato chip. So, ⁓ yeah, it's it's not easy. If you get by the first three holes on Milton, if you're on the Milton nine, you're gonna do pretty well. You know, you get to our signature hole, which is Milton Five, you the skyline in the background, which is gonna be pretty cool today 'cause track man's out there. And I'm curious to see. They're gonna be sending people some videos of their swing, which I don't know if you want that or not, but Hey. We're gonna be on ⁓ one of the holes. ⁓ we'll be videoing swings too. ⁓ while we while we trip them. ⁓ I'd expect nothing less. It's gonna it's gonna be pretty good. You might get some complaints. Hey, you know. Hey, this is the this is the format for it too. I'm excited see some of This might be the one and only event we do. Hey, hey, if it isn't working out, I think I think it'd be a home run too in some of these events, you know. No, ⁓ you the course here if if you haven't played here, you've gotta play here at least once. ⁓ absolutely. ⁓ Such an experience. Not only the golf itself and and the difficulty and all the things you deal with, but the the view. I've been here for 18 years. I don't get sick of it. I walk in every single day from the parking lot, I stare out that at that view over there. It's amazing. Like I I just told Mike I go if I go if you like have trouble getting out. It's great to come down here, play nine and after do, and then you get the lookout, the drinks, and the whole thing right at the right at the bar afterwards. It's unbelievable. If you've ever been up here for an afternoon on or say a weekend in the summer, it's fantastic. Driving range is packed. You get a bar at the driving range, you got a bar over in the crossing lines, a patio overlooking the golf course. You look to the right, you got the city. You turn around, you got the bay on the other side. So I mean you can see for miles and miles too. It's crazy. ⁓ Now what's your ⁓ best score out there? putting me on the spot. ⁓ putt on the spot a little bit. You can say whatever you want, we're not gonna check I mean eighteen I've shot a fifty eight eighteen eighteen I've shot ⁓ two under. ⁓ each individual nine my best is I've gone two under on two of them. Quincy I've gone three on. So wow I've got a lot of rounds out here and it all depends on what box you play. If you go all the way back especially when that wind's up getting that round par is a little difficult but we try our best to kind of do it. So you saying you weren't at the fire T box when you set I would say 90. ⁓ those those days, definitely, absolutely for sure. But ⁓ yeah, if you move up to the blues a little bit, it might be a little bit easier to get those minus things a little bit more concerning. See, when I say three under, right? It's three under fucking balls I lost. Yeah. Well, hey, we saw a lot of golf balls here. ⁓ yeah. And telling you what, we had all those ravines and everything. Everybody's going, ⁓ I got a sleeve, we're good to go. I'm like, yeah, I need that dozen, you know. Yeah, I I I you went, I went through my own dozen, and then I think I stole some of my brothers that day. You bet you better have some golf balls in your bag. Whatever kid went out and found him and sold I may or may not say there might be a guy kid popping out from the trees being like you need more golf balls and stuff, and people are like, Hey, you know what? I need to get hey, you know, I don't I I don't blame the hustle. You I did that probably when I was a kid on some other courses too. But the kid at the street hockey court this week and had a table this big with all golf balls on it, so yeah, he's like dollar apiece, you know. Hey, where are you gonna get a pro V for a dollar apiece? Exactly. This thing's like five bucks a piece now. Well, you can get them in the pro shop if you got deep pockets. Yeah, you know, and I don't mean buying. Just ask his dad, yeah. Hey, quite at your Thanks for ⁓ joining us here on the Zebras. You have a an awesome course. I appreciate it guys. Absolutely. Anytime guys and thank you for doing what you're you know doing today for the Warrior for Life Fund. It means a lot to us. Yeah. We're very involved with them and they ⁓ you know those SEALs are you know the Gold Star families. Those are the real heroes. Like I said, if you you can support our troops, you can support our SEALs, I mean that's a that's a cause we want to get behind. So anytime we can do that, we're all on board. Thanks, Nick. Awesome. Thanks, guys. Let's go, motherfucker. Alright. You got the legend, Steve Sweeney. How about that? Yeah. Boston comedy legend, Steve Sweeney. What about the movies? Well, you know, y you might have seen him in something about Mary. Me, myself, and Irene, the Equalizer, next stop, Wonderland. ⁓ greatest fear run ever. But ⁓ you get the Franks above the beans. But the big thing is Sitting between two salty guys, you know, about one technically, you know. The salty gets all the ink, you know, they all think they're gangsters. You go over there, the kid's five years old. What are you looking at? It's like fucking, come on, stop watching the movies, please. ⁓ my uncle was salty, fucking dick and fell and worked with a water and shower. He used to work with a park apartment. Forty years I worked with a park apartment. That time I worked from nine in the morning all the way till ten in the morning. Great team. Powerhouse Pub, we play we had a great team. It was me, Ray, Fitz, Obi, Dumper, Stumper, Stinker, Big Head, No Head, Little Head, One Ars, Big Ars, Bobby Fitz, Kevin Fitz, Richie Fitz, Sully, Sully, Sully, Sully, Sully. Anyway, Here we are. You wanna scourn with your fam and your la Wha who's this asshole? He's our producer Mike from AOA Studio. Jesus. What's it? What's it like? I can't even get a hat here. I'm trying to plug this fantastic event. Black Island ⁓ Film Festival. Yeah, I know. Well that's plugging my movie, which is called Towny. It's gonna be a Nantucket Comedy Festival. We did the New York Comedy Film Festival. We opened at Dedham and I think in the fall I'm gonna show it in Charlestown and ⁓ it's a great movie. It's about growing up in Charles. Pay attention. I'll pay attention. You know what the fuck? You know what I mean? Like I can't. Well, it's not listening. I I mean next guest. I I did I did no shit. I did Letterman and he paid attention. These two assholes. ⁓ is that I'm new to this. This guy's a hockey player. ⁓ that woman looks like she could be something. You got me. No, I will give I'm I wanna give you I wanna give you a sweetie. on your comedy then at Fox and Island and Quinton. It's a great, great way. Have you been there? Yeah I have been there. Look at the attitude. Look at the attitude. Well something. You gotta know. That's how you I you help you opened it like you you I ran there. Alright, I will come support you next time. I'll just I'll just go to his fucking shitty shows. That's not crazy. See now look looking I want to ex quite explain If I could explain to your audience, what is it, seventeen people saying? Well, no, we get we get views. We get eight eight. Hey, for this segment, who knows? This guy is he's covering it up. And ⁓ all kidding aside, I believe in transparency, I believe in tolerance, and I believe in non judgmental stuff. Okay. So my man, you've got an Italian first name, right? I do it. I'm a Italian last name too, living in Celtic. I grew up all confusion. All I wanted was your first name. Anyway. Wait a minute. Gino, isn't it correct, yes. Look, if I could just have a moment. Gino is transitioning. For those of you who don't know what that means, next time you watch this show, Gino is gonna be Jeanette. Now, Mark. I don't know what his deal is. Next time I see the job. Next time we see you at the dog at the dog park, my Frankie shirts, I'm gonna have him attack your dog. No, you know, ⁓ you know, I I called this is really funny. I called Mark a certain name of a guy. Honest to God, you know, I know he's in great shape, you know, and and Southey I used to do it ⁓ Peter Waltz's gym. ⁓ yeah, yeah. So I look at him and he I know he's gonna crack me. I would love it. Never happened. Pillowhins. Never happened. I would never hit a legend. Come on. No, you know why you wouldn't. You give me two shows a year. Why would I hit someone who gives me two shows a year? That's all I have, you know. But you know what would happen, Gino, if you hit me, it's called elderly abuse. Yes. Yeah, but you know, this tournament is in Quincy. Correct. Those of you who don't know, Quincy is the number one place in North America for an emergency manicure, pedicure, massage. We also have a beautiful homeless shelter. It's called the Crane Public Library. You know, I would say I'm gonna knock you off the air, but you're doing a fucking podcast. There's no air to be knocked off of. Listen, this course, you played it before, granted, like an incredible. Are you a golfer? Yeah, I'm a golfer. I'm actually pretty good. But he owns clubs, but he's in. I'd like to give you an opportunity to make some money. Would you like to make some money? Well it all depends. If it's the hard way again, I'll say no. All you have to do is we go out on the course, you give me a stroke of hold, two to one, automatic gimme's, and extra mulligan. That sound fair to you? You're not that old. I'm not giving you all those strokes. Are you kidding me? I got him. I don't know. Hey listen, you know, you guys You guys do a great job. Well, thank you. This is a really ⁓ this really touches me. My father was a major on the other hand. Anything to do with vets, you know. That's a great we gotta help. People don't realize, you know, like say somebody gets held up, but pay fucking attention. I'm paying attention. I'm looking at the center camera. People get held up or they getting her power actions. That's called trauma, okay? These guys go to war three times a day they're traumatized. That's why they call it post-traumatic traumatic stress. My other job is I do substance abuse counseling in jails. And ⁓ post-traumatic I got a funny story for you. I was working at Norfolk, right? In Dedham to jail. So this kid, everybody's it's so funny. I mean, because I grew up in Charleston, I know the whole deal. So I said to this kid, where are you from? He said, Well, I'm from Southie. I said, Well, what part? He starts mumbling. He pulls me aside. He says, I'm actually f I'm actually from Abington. I figured if I come out here they're gonna leave me alone. I said, you should not Yeah, you might even target on your back with you. Isn't that funny? That's fucking funny. You know what I used to love in Southie? I made so many great fronts. Boston Athletic Clubs. ⁓ BAC, yeah. Yeah, a lot of great guys. And you know, Southie was a beautiful neighborhood, and it's still something, but it's not me. It's like it's so built up, it's built like a city. Identified a lot. Yeah, yeah. It's not the same. Parking and all that, but a lot of great people. You know, when you grow up in Charlestown or Southie, you think everybody like in Hyde Park and West Roxbury, like rip from New Zealand or something. Or from Austria, like they're they've yards. Yeah with the driveway. With a driveway, not a barrel, right not a not a folding chair when it snows. But then you find out we're all the same. Yeah. Yeah. We're all assholes. Yeah. All just trying to get by. No, you guys are doing great. And ⁓ I I like the work you're doing and Glad you asked me to come. I appreciate the problem. No problem, Steven. Boston comedy legend Steve Sweeney. Make sure you check out one of his 17 movies that he's in 2015. Especially Tally. Hey, real quick, do we have one more minute? Sure. This November, I did a movie in New Jersey. It's called The Making of Rocky. November is the 50th anniversary of Rocky. No shit. So they're gonna do these great openings. Ugh, And There's an opening in Philly and there's an opening in Los Angeles. So, of the 15 women that watch this, if you want to go to an opening, let me know. Great cast, Matt Dylan. The movie I did in Thailand, it's called The Greatest Beer Run Ever, is about what you guys are doing. It's about the Vietnam War. What a cast. Russell Crowe, Bill Murray. My scene is with Zach Eport. Have you seen it? No, I haven't. You should see it. It's about America. Thanks again, guys. I'm gonna watch it tonight. All right. And maybe you'll put me in a movie someday. I don't know. I'd love that. I can make a movie look a little better, no? Yeah, you can definitely and if I was directing it I'd know how to irritate you like I know, I know. All right guys. Steve Sweeney, everyone. Thank you. Joining us now Bob Swoop Sweeney, the president of the Bruins Alumni Association and a good friend of the Zebras. Bob, welcome. How are we doing guys? Fantastic. You know, i obviously you're very involved with veterans and what's this mean to you to be here for the Warrior for Life funding? Well, you know, the it came to my knowledge probably about six months ago on our finance manager he goes, hey Bob, he goes, Do you realize that more than a third of your money that you give away goes to first responders and veterans? And I didn't, but it I it made sense because with the s success of the ⁓ BFIT challenge that we have every year that we have all different types of military and first responders. ⁓ it raised over 1.4 million this year, which that's highest ever. Almost seven million since inception. So it's it's been awesome. And you can't say enough for what all our veterans and ⁓ military personnel do each and every day to keep us safe so so at least we can do. Yeah no it's it's an incredible organization and the work you do with the foundation is is incredible. Yeah it's been a good run. I someone sent me a a text. I'm not a huge LinkedIn guy but I I just finished my 19th year which is crazy. Wow wow first yeah so now I'm going into 20 years which is that's a long time. So it it's good, you know the foundation's been around for 23 years. ⁓ so it's been a good run. We've had raised a lot of money for so many worthy charities. But I like I said earlier, it's it's amazing how it's grown and to see what we do in the first responder military world, which is great. ⁓ yeah. I mean you you're growing for a reason because you're a part of a great community. The hockey community is probably the best one to rally around like a cause like this too, right? Yeah, no the Warrior for Life I went out to Virginia Beach, got was on the beach with a Hum V That was interesting. ⁓ yeah. felt like it what it was like to skydive in one of those simulators. So yeah, cool stuff. ⁓ they they've done a lot. ⁓ Ryan Crowley's done so much with the organization and it's grown and it's great to see ⁓ all the help that they're giving all the former SEALs and ⁓ people that need it. That's good. The Golf Star families and the and the program they just started for the ⁓ scholarships for Golf Star kids. Graduating, getting them five grand, it's it's incredible. It's absolutely incredible. And they're the real heroes. 100%. Right? It's ⁓ now golf game wise, how you what do you think? I'm not bad. ⁓ I'm like right around a six right now, which is really good. Respectable. Respect that's worth respectful. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, my son and I lost on the eighteenth hole in November member yesterday, but this course is not ⁓ easy. As I said, it's like the wind capital of the world in Massachusetts. Every time you come up here, you come up to ⁓ granite lengths, it's windy, but it's a great facility. I mean what what they've done here is amazing, right? I mean you you remember this place when it was nothing. Come here and jump and try to avoid rusty climbs. Exactly. In a quarry. Yeah. Right. And that's what this place was. Yeah. You know? And and Boston ⁓ is the windiest city in the country. Chicago is not. They they're called the windy city Because of the politicians. That's where they got that name. That is Yeah. Yeah. Did not know that. Look at that. We had educators. Yeah. You know? ⁓ what do you wanna we asked Bob Deers when he was on about the Bruins and next year what they gotta do. What's your thoughts on that? I thought they they you know, overall had had a very good year. ⁓ they brought in some guys that filled some holes. And now I think it's you know, we need some of the the younger guys to It's you look at all the teams that have kind of got to that next level, you know, the Buffaloes and the Montreals, their younger players are really rising to the top. Yes. And you know, I think that's what the we need. And ⁓ you know, we like we had a good good ⁓ year last year, you know, some positive, got back in the playoffs, which is you know huge, but obviously wanna keep keep the momentum going. Yeah, absolutely. Now we asked him to ⁓ Toronto get in a I mean that had to be a sham. Everybody I am really pissed off about it. You can't tell. Like they finished the same spot the Bruins finished. We got the seventh pick. They get the first pick. I know. There was tape on that board. That is a little crazy. A little heavier. Yeah. I think shady. But I'll say it. I know you you know. You gotta be careful between the president and the Bronze alumni. Well we really appreciate it. Have a ⁓ great day. The Kevin's screen. They didn't go it didn't go like you wanted it to. Yeah. But that's okay. Yeah. So Bob, thank you very much for joining the Zebras. Thank you. What a day. Awesome day. And it's just starting. We got the golf tournament coming up, the chirping ⁓ on the chirp box. But ⁓ we'll see how that goes. Talk about a lineup. Yeah, we had some ⁓ some pretty heavy hitters. I mean, wasn't expecting ⁓ the Hillman on the on the show. I was pretty ⁓ Mike Ruggioni. Yeah, yeah. I mean we've had we had a couple of ⁓ real good ones and and again we're here for the Warrior for Life Fund for TR for Heroes ⁓ at Granite Lynx. Can't say enough about Granite Lynx. They've been excellent. What a you know support they have for the zebras and you know for this great day and event. Can't say enough. Yeah, and the views are not bad and ⁓ a little windy, but that's okay. But ⁓ just a great event and we wanna thank Kevin Mason, of course, for setting us up up here and ⁓ Will and the O'Connell family. They do such a great job. Granite Lynx, if you've never played it, you gotta get up here and play around. It's not easy, but it's ⁓ they and and just the facility they have, it's just ⁓ absolutely amazing. ⁓ I can't say enough about them. So, and ⁓ so we're gonna we're gonna head out to a part three, do some chirping. Yeah, it's maybe ⁓ not just We'll even stop the chirping now. I mean it's It's fucking windy up here, right? I betcha guarantee you don't one blade of hair is fucking misplaced out of Mark's head all day. No, I I doubled up on the hairspray. I'll be honest with you. I doubled up on my product because I knew it was gonna be a a little breezy. I'm gonna I'm gonna be losing his hat. Yeah. You ⁓ have to wear it backwards. You wear the hat, but that's all right. ⁓ but that's gonna do it. I want to thank our sponsor, the referees Chris. Also thank Granite Lynx. and and what they do, also want to thank the Warrior for Life Fund for having us be a part of this great event, Tea Off for Heroes. ⁓ don't forget AOA Studios for coming out here taping and filming all day long. So appreciate that. Mike Scarfro AOA Studios up in Beverly. They're the best. And also want to remind you to like and subscribe on YouTube. Follow us on the social medias, the ⁓ Instagram, the Facebook, and of course the TikTok. Thank you, Gino. So for Gino Bender Jr. from Mike Scarfrow from AOA, I'm Mark Riley. We'll see you next time right here on the Chirping Zebers.
