I just moved into a new apartment, so I need to know how to say 'living room' in German. Lucas: Well, you're in luck! 'Living room' is 'das Wohnzimmer'. Let's say it together: das Wohnzimmer. Luna: Das Wohnzimmer. That's got a nice ring to it. Lucas: And 'kitchen' is 'die Küche'. Say it with me: die Küche. Luna: Die Küche. I spend a lot of time there cooking. Lucas: Now let's talk about furniture. 'Table' is 'der Tisch'. Luna: Der Tisch. Like a dining table? Lucas: Exactly. And 'chair' is 'der Stuhl'. Der Stuhl. Luna: Der Stuhl. I need a comfortable chair for my desk. Lucas: And finally, 'bed' is 'das Bett'. A very important word. Luna: Das Bett. After a long day, I love my Bett. Lucas: Great! Now let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're showing someone your apartment. You could say: 'Das ist das Wohnzimmer. Und das ist die Küche.' Luna: Das ist das Wohnzimmer. Und das ist die Küche. I can do that. Lucas: And if you're pointing to furniture: 'Das ist der Tisch. Das ist der Stuhl. Und das ist das Bett.' Luna: Das ist der Tisch. Das ist der Stuhl. Und das ist das Bett. Lucas: Now let's try a question. How would you ask 'Where is the table?' in German? Remember our word for 'where': 'wo'. Luna: Um... Wo ist der Tisch? Lucas: Exactly! Wo ist der Tisch? And if someone asks you, you can answer: 'Der Tisch ist in der Küche.' Luna: Der Tisch ist in der Küche. Lucas: Perfect. So now you can describe your home. Let's do a quick review.
