- 0:04Hello and welcome back to the episode of Bantu Currency.
- 0:06How are you all doing? I hope you're doing great.
- 0:08For today's episode, we're going to be talking about a sad
- 0:11situation whereby a wife allegedly sets her husband
- 0:16ablaze and he died from his injuries.
- 0:20Now let me just get the name right.
- 0:23The husband is a doctor and wife.
- 0:28The husband was a doctor and the wife was a nurse.
- 0:30So the husband's name was Lieutenant Dr Samson Haruna
- 0:36while the wife is nurse. Red teeth that long?
- 0:45This is a very sad one because people go into marriages and
- 0:50without really understanding each other, people think that
- 0:55marriage is all about the wedding.
- 0:56They had a very beautiful wedding.
- 0:59They looked amazing. The wife was dancing, happy, you
- 1:04know, just living life. Both of them were actually happy
- 1:09on their wedding day. They looked amazing.
- 1:10They did free wedding pictures. A military man marrying a nurse.
- 1:16He was also a doctor. So you could imagine these are
- 1:19people from at least a very balanced background.
- 1:24They got married. They're both very young.
- 1:27She, I think she's 32 and he's maybe 35 for around that age.
- 1:35They were married for about less than six months.
- 1:39And this has happened now. According to the story, the wife
- 1:43said that she got married to the husband and there's DV, domestic
- 1:51violence involved. She said she lost a pregnancy
- 1:54and she complained but nobody was willing to listen.
- 1:58She said that even the neighbours knew about their
- 2:01situation. She said she was just on that
- 2:05fateful day. They started arguing as usual
- 2:08and then he called his brother and according to her, the
- 2:11brother told him to move out of the house or to move her out of
- 2:16the house. She was not willing to leave the
- 2:19house so the brother told him to move into a different bedroom.
- 2:24So according to her, he got a mattress and moved into their
- 2:27store. You know Nigerian families or
- 2:29Nigerian homes, they have generators and they have fuel
- 2:33that they used in powering those generators.
- 2:36So him moving into the store, according to her there's
- 2:39generator, a fuel, gallon of fuel lying somewhere there and I
- 2:45don't know how he fuel in a gallon that is locked.
- 2:47We just pour on the floor and I don't know.
- 2:51But according to her, she said that when he was moving
- 2:55everything into the, the, the store, basically a store is like
- 2:59an extra room where you store things, you know.
- 3:02So when he was moving everything into the store, she said he
- 3:05kicked the gallon, the gallon contents, the fuel spilled.
- 3:11So he was now threatening to set the whole house ablaze.
- 3:16And when she she was not, she said she was trying to get him
- 3:19to, he held a lighter. So according to her, he thought
- 3:24that the lighter was not working.
- 3:26Maybe he had tried using it before and it wasn't working.
- 3:28No smokers. I don't know.
- 3:30So she said she he thought that the lighter was not working, but
- 3:34he went ahead to trying to light it up.
- 3:39So she said she was telling him not to light it up, that she was
- 3:43going to, you know, record him and put him on TikTok.
- 3:45She said she was just saying all these things, but when he was
- 3:48getting serious she said she called his supervisor and then
- 3:53the supervisor did not pick a call or did not respond or
- 3:56something like that. And he was still going ahead
- 3:58with that. And then he light up the match
- 4:01and boom, there was fire, he was burned.
- 4:07He was taken to the hospital. And he think last month he
- 4:13happened 22nd of October, September.
- 4:17And on Tuesday he died 2 days ago.
- 4:21Now, when the incident happened, she was, you know, arrested,
- 4:24taken to the army barracks where they were doing investigation.
- 4:28They asked what happened. He was explaining, he said that
- 4:33she didn't do anything to him. But according to her, his family
- 4:37members were saying that no, she is a problem, they should detain
- 4:42her or something. And now that he has died,
- 4:45anyway, there was a video or there was an audio that somebody
- 4:49recorded when they were asking her what had happened to her
- 4:53husband. She was now explaining because
- 4:55she was detained about 14 days and then released.
- 4:58Let me just play that video for you to listen to what she had to
- 5:01say. On the 21st.
- 5:05On the 22nd near from on the 22nd of September he came and
- 5:14drove me off from work. His standard brother asked him
- 5:19to pack his things from the room and give me a frustrate me.
- 5:24When I'm frustrated I leave the room.
- 5:27So he bought a new mattress and then he packed to another room
- 5:32to the store. The store had for an adult in
- 5:37the room. So while he was packing he
- 5:39accidentally hit the phone when he hits the foil the foil poured
- 5:43in the house. So he has seen me he has bitten
- 5:47me on so many occasions that I even had miscarriage.
- 5:51So he was threatening me with lighter that he's going to
- 5:53settle me is my parents don't come to carry me.
- 5:57She may have put the phone in the corporation they have put us
- 5:59there's a bar say look an item to buy a young coming in our
- 6:03sanity. I'm going to set you up, please.
- 6:05If she was joking this new light and I.
- 6:08So she was just explaining that when how in house her basically
- 6:11she said that they were having a fight.
- 6:14His brother told him to frustrate her.
- 6:17In fact, listen, she said. He kicked the lighter or the
- 6:22fuel and then light himself. I called in 330 investigations,
- 6:34checked my phone, I truly calls you.
- 6:55I wish I really said and I was even tracing him.
- 6:58I said I'm going to put this thing live on TikTok.
- 7:01I was just joking about the thing, but I often carry my
- 7:04phone. I said I'm going to put this
- 7:05thing live on TikTok. So the prime engineer is to real
- 7:10manageable give you put think what I'm supposed to be, then
- 7:13you people should come cooperate.
- 7:21Natural. I'm a civilian.
- 7:22You are not supposed to treat me like that.
- 7:23I'm not your personal. I'm a civilian.
- 7:25You should treat me. OK, hand me over to police.
- 7:28Let's police come and see what happened.
- 7:30They were protecting Armenia. Swinging.
- 7:35So now dinner. I got room for 13 days.
- 7:39A bit of this, I need to know whether I'm just say I'm not
- 7:43feeling investigation process, let me not influence the
- 7:48process. When anybody see government
- 7:50investigation has to connect some government investigation, I
- 7:53am not guilty. Why we're still holding media?
- 7:58Why we're still holding media when I'm not guilty?
- 8:01Even my husband told you I did not do anything wrong.
- 8:04My husband knew that I didn't do anything wrong and he knew while
- 8:09I was keeping quiet so that his job will not.
- 8:11Be at stake. Wow he kept sending people to
- 8:15tell to ask how my how am I just take care of me as soon as not
- 8:19at the mean how my Nelson that is his own way of telling me
- 8:21calm down every time will be fine.
- 8:25If you want to treat someone as a civilian, treat them as a
- 8:28civilian. It's not a Bani wala for no
- 8:31reason. This is sad.
- 8:39This is sad because a young man, a young doctor, a young
- 8:45Lieutenant, has just lost his life because of domestic
- 8:52violence. Whatever the situation was or
- 8:56whatever the situation is or whatever the situation would be
- 9:01in the context of a marriage, people should always leave.
- 9:07I always say listen before you get married.
- 9:09Know how to resolve conflicts before you get married.
- 9:14Make sure that the person you're getting married to is normal.
- 9:20Because we see a lot of successful people who are not
- 9:22normal. We see a lot of successful
- 9:24people who have, you know, very successful careers, but they are
- 9:29not OK. These two people obviously are
- 9:34not good for each other because if you've been married for less
- 9:37than six months and already you have lost the pregnancy due to
- 9:43domestic violence, then I think there's something wrong.
- 9:48I believe that maybe marriage, at least the first year, should
- 9:51be honeymoon if you if you did it right, because one of the
- 9:55other problem is money. Most time people get married,
- 9:59they get in debt the because of the wedding they are trying to
- 10:03have. They want to have like a lavish
- 10:04wedding. Their wedding looks very
- 10:06beautiful or look beautiful. They had a very, you know, kind
- 10:11of societal wedding based on their standard.
- 10:13But if they had borrowed money to do that wedding or if they
- 10:18had emptied their accounts to ensure that they had that dream
- 10:23wedding or whatever kind of wedding that they wanted, and
- 10:26then they're getting into this marriage and there's no money,
- 10:29obviously there's going to be quarrel, there's going to be
- 10:32fight, there's going to be issues.
- 10:36And this brings me back to the situation between IVD and Bimbo.
- 10:44This was also something similar. IVD and Bimbo were having
- 10:48problems. IVD decided to take back the
- 10:52house because according to IVD he bought the house.
- 10:55So Bimbo was like I will not leave the house, instead I will
- 10:58burn down the house allegedly. So Bimbo allegedly bought fuel,
- 11:06bought petrol, whatever you want to call it, decided to burn down
- 11:10the house. She was pouring the petrol
- 11:12everywhere and then when she lights because you know you're
- 11:16angry, you're pouring things allegedly some of them.
- 11:19Those things is going to get on you amigo holding is That's why
- 11:23in movies the way I see the burn down houses is maybe they will
- 11:28go in, they will spray the petrol wherever they want and
- 11:32then they will kind of like trace a line backward where they
- 11:37will be outside and then light up the matches and then the fire
- 11:41will run inside and burn whatever they want to burn.
- 11:44But if you're inside there with a very flammable liquid which
- 11:50you're pouring with your hands, obviously some of them will get
- 11:53on your hands. It's very easy for that.
- 11:56Even the smell can attract that fire and you're going to get
- 11:59burned. Allegedly, that was what
- 12:01happened to Bimbo. Bimbo was bond beyond
- 12:05recognition. She was taken to the hospital.
- 12:07She died a painful death. And now this is allegedly the
- 12:12situation with Lieutenant Haruna, but the family and the
- 12:18army people are saying that the wife allegedly set him ablaze.
- 12:25They are not believing her story, saying that he went into
- 12:30the store, he was trying to set up a bed.
- 12:33He then kicked the fuel container which now pour on the
- 12:37floor. And he was OK, let's say poured
- 12:40on the floor. I don't know how that got on him
- 12:44because I don't know. I, I have no idea.
- 12:51But if she is insisting that she didn't do this and they have
- 12:57carried out their investigation because she said she was
- 12:59arrested and detained for about 14 days and then released.
- 13:03So if they had done their investigation and then released
- 13:06her, I think maybe people shouldn't say she, she, she is
- 13:12responsible. I don't know because this is a
- 13:15very, very, very complicated matter.
- 13:18It sounds straightforward, it sounds easy, but if your own
- 13:22family member is involved in this kind of thing, that is when
- 13:24you realise how complicated it is.
- 13:27Because she might just be saying the truth.
- 13:29He may just want to threaten her.
- 13:32Some people will threaten to to end their lives if somebody's
- 13:36living. But in this case, I think what
- 13:38she said was that his brother told her to frustrate her to
- 13:42leave the house. I mean, if it has gotten to that
- 13:45point within six months of marriage where a sibling is
- 13:51your, your husband's sibling is telling him to frustrate you out
- 13:54of the house. They believe you have a job.
- 13:59I understand that marriage to Nigerian women is, is is a badge
- 14:03of honour. You don't want to leave because
- 14:06you don't want people to say you got married and then you you
- 14:09left the marriage. I understand that, but at the
- 14:12same time is it is, is it worth it?
- 14:20Is it worth it to just get married to somebody just to take
- 14:24that box and then you leave in a box or you leave as a as a
- 14:31mudger. When they say this generation
- 14:35and don't want to get married, people think, you know, we're
- 14:38being selfish. People think, you know, we we're
- 14:44just thinking about ourselves. Most people are not normal.
- 14:50Most people did not grow up normal.
- 14:52Your normal for you might be abnormal for somebody else.
- 14:57And if for whatever reason you get to align with that person,
- 15:01you have to be able to walk away at the drop of a pin.
- 15:06If you see that that is getting volatile, just imagine you get
- 15:11married to somebody within six months, you've already lost
- 15:14pregnancy due to domestic violence and within six months
- 15:19your husband has already allegedly set himself ablaze.
- 15:25I mean, just just imagine. This is sad making.
- 15:31So rest in peace. The Army released information
- 15:35saying that they condemn the murder.
- 15:39I mean, if they are, if they said a murder, then I, I don't
- 15:44know because she's still free. Maybe they released her before
- 15:49he died and now that he's dead, maybe she's going to be
- 15:52rearrested. I don't know.
- 15:55But my brothers and sisters, marriage is not a dual die
- 15:58affair. If you're getting married to
- 16:00somebody who you, you, you know is is Hazanger issues about
- 16:06mission. If you're going to get married
- 16:09to somebody who does not align with your goals about mission.
- 16:15Because at the end of the day, if you decide to get married to
- 16:18that person, there's always going to be argument unless you
- 16:22are willing to do everything separately, have a separate
- 16:26account, have a separate. And then in that situation, then
- 16:30you're going to have kids and you're going to be fighting on a
- 16:33daily basis because of those kids.
- 16:35For Married to work, you have to align financially, you have to
- 16:39align physically, you have to align mentally, you have to
- 16:42align emotionally. Gone are the days where women
- 16:46will just sit down and take beers, or gone are the days when
- 16:50men will just sit down and just be the provider and work
- 16:53themselves to death. Our generation right now is
- 16:57saying that I want better, both man and woman.
- 17:03If you want better, pick better. If you want better, do your due
- 17:08diligence before you marry anybody.
- 17:11He's a doctor is not a guarantee that he's nice.
- 17:15She's a nurse is not a guarantee that she can take care of you.
- 17:21Anyway, let me know what you think.
- 17:22Do you think that she is just trying to save herself by saying
- 17:27that he set himself ablaze or do you think that he was that
- 17:32mentally out there that he would pour petrol and set himself
- 17:41ablaze? Do you, do you, do you find that
- 17:44plausible? Let me know what you think.
- 17:46Thank you very much for watching today's episode.
- 17:47Please like, like, like and share.
- 17:49Thank you very much for watching.
- 17:50Bye bye.
