Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, guys, that's okay.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Her voice is almost back.
- 0:02Speaker 1: My voice is kind of back. It's coming back.
- 0:05Speaker 3: I was at Lost Lands as always every single year.
- 0:08Speaker 3: I go in September and enjoy every minute days.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We get there on Wednesday.
- 0:13Speaker 3: There is live music from Wednesday through Sunday.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Explain exactly what Lost Lands is.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Lost Lands is a heavy dubstep, heavy EDM music festival
- 0:23Speaker 3: that my favorite DJ, Excision created and uh oh, careful
- 0:28Speaker 3: careful with live things. Yeah, it is a it's a
- 0:33Speaker 3: heavy dub stept EDM show. Excision created in twenty seventeen.
- 0:37Speaker 3: It has life sized dinosaurs. It's out in a place
- 0:40Speaker 3: called Legend Valley.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It's always been there.
- 0:43Speaker 3: It's always been there since they Ohio. It's in Thornville,
- 0:47Speaker 3: a tiny little town that we take.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Over for a Why was that selected? A don't actually
- 0:54Speaker 1: know the answer to that.
- 0:54Speaker 3: But it is a big enough area for us to
- 0:57Speaker 3: have our camping and then have all of the stages
- 1:00Speaker 3: because there's about five or there's five stages or so,
- 1:04Speaker 3: so it's it's really cool and up this year.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I think there's about eighty five thousand people.
- 1:12Speaker 3: There is a I've got a photo or a photo
- 1:15Speaker 3: of the main stage.
- 1:16Speaker 2: They camp at people camp out.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yes, so this is the brand new main stage that
- 1:20Speaker 3: they premiered this year. I got a talk to Ven,
- 1:22Speaker 3: who is the creator and designer of the stage. Those
- 1:24Speaker 3: are like dinosaur horns, bones, and that is all inflatable.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Every piece of that is inflatable, and then it has
- 1:31Speaker 3: a whole structure in the back that it's secured to.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It's really really cool.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And then, uh, there's a photo of all the drones
- 1:40Speaker 3: that we got because this last year we had a
- 1:44Speaker 3: huge drought and then this year, yeah, so we can
- 1:49Speaker 3: have fire, we can have fireworks. This year they got
- 1:51Speaker 3: all the water in the world, so we got fireworks.
- 1:53Speaker 1: We got our fire.
- 1:55Speaker 3: But then they kept the drones from last year because
- 1:57Speaker 3: it was just beautiful. So those are some of the
- 1:59Speaker 3: fig pictures I got from the drones that were that
- 2:03Speaker 3: they showed all those I took.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I took those photos.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And then when I say life sized dinosaurs, I mean
- 2:09Speaker 3: life sized dinosaurs. I put a collage together of all
- 2:12Speaker 3: the dinosaurs that well not all, but some of the
- 2:14Speaker 3: dinosaurs that I took photos with, and including my group
- 2:18Speaker 3: down in the left bottom corner. And we did a
- 2:21Speaker 3: holes night, so we dressed up as all the well
- 2:25Speaker 3: as like we were from holes in the camp and
- 2:28Speaker 3: all that fun stuff. We even three D printed little shovels.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It was great.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Hudson, if you'll throw up the Crater video for me,
- 2:36Speaker 3: this is a small video that I took of one
- 2:39Speaker 3: of the stages called the Crater. This it's a three
- 2:43Speaker 3: sixty stage and it actually rotates, which is super super cool.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Oh there it goes. There are lasers all over the
- 2:51Speaker 3: whole round area.
- 2:52Speaker 2: That doesn't give you epilepsy.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Well, as long as you're not epileptic.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Robert F. Kennedy Junior has shown that there is a
- 3:01Speaker 2: connection between lasers and giving people epilepsy.
- 3:07Speaker 3: That's a crater stage. That stage right there is a
- 3:10Speaker 3: full three sixty turn. It's really cool. Then there's another
- 3:14Speaker 3: I have another video of the main stage with the
- 3:16Speaker 3: drones that show that they had which was super super fun.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I believe this is the excision and subtronics back to
- 3:24Speaker 3: back that is behind that is a playing underneath us,
- 3:27Speaker 3: and that's what that video is actually from.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So big lasers and I imagine drugs are just ramp,
- 3:34Speaker 2: you know.
- 3:35Speaker 1: For those that want to do it.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yes, they had a really cool booth setup that you
- 3:39Speaker 3: can take the video down. They have a really cool
- 3:42Speaker 3: booth that you can actually go get Narcan training, so
- 3:46Speaker 3: and they'll give you narcans so if anybody around you
- 3:48Speaker 3: goes down, you can help those. My group always carries
- 3:52Speaker 3: Narcan on us, but none of us do that kind
- 3:54Speaker 3: of stuff because.
- 3:55Speaker 2: In case you come across. I don't do Narcan.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Either, but it's always safe to have in case somebody
- 4:00Speaker 3: does go down. And so it's really nice to look
- 4:03Speaker 3: out because our community is really big about PLUR, which
- 4:06Speaker 3: is peace, love, unity and respect, and it's it's my
- 4:11Speaker 3: favorite fans festival in the world. This is my limited
- 4:14Speaker 3: VIP shirts about this year.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Super cool.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I even bought myself a little pine cone this year,
- 4:21Speaker 3: which is one of the vendors that they have, and
- 4:24Speaker 3: they make.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Beautiful, beautiful.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's like a shiny yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 3: So they cut it in half and they add stones
- 4:29Speaker 3: and stuff. But I go every single year I've been.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I got engaged there, I met my lifelong best friends there.
- 4:36Speaker 3: I I mean, I I get lost with my dinosaurs
- 4:40Speaker 3: and it's just a blast. And I love I love
- 4:43Speaker 3: showing people what Lost Siens is because I've taken so
- 4:45Speaker 3: many people there now with me.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Is it is?
- 4:48Speaker 1: It's it's my biggest stress relief for like relieve of
- 4:52Speaker 1: the year.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Peaceful.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, no, it's It's wonderful. The community is
- 4:58Speaker 3: is every show everything, you're going to have those few
- 5:01Speaker 3: people that are just there to cause issues, but majority
- 5:04Speaker 3: of the time, the community is absolutely so loving and
- 5:07Speaker 3: we were all there to enjoy and just kind of
- 5:09Speaker 3: get lost and go back in time with our dinosaurs
- 5:12Speaker 3: and enjoy all the music that we love so so much.
- 5:15Speaker 1: This song's called phil something in case you guys want
- 5:17Speaker 1: to go look it up.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I love the music go all day and night. Music
- 5:23Speaker 3: starts normally about two o'clock in the afternoon, and then
- 5:27Speaker 3: the main stage stops at midnight, and then there are
- 5:32Speaker 3: what's called sound camps, and that's little stages that are
- 5:35Speaker 3: put on and that music goes until four am.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Did you ever do that?
- 5:39Speaker 1: I really tried.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I made it my goal this year to stay up
- 5:41Speaker 3: as long as I could because one of my favorite
- 5:44Speaker 3: French DJs was performing at three am.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I didn't make it.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I made it till about two and then I was
- 5:51Speaker 3: just dragging. But oh my goodness, but I did make
- 5:58Speaker 3: it later than normal because I you know, when you
- 6:00Speaker 3: wake up so early and you're so used to it,
- 6:02Speaker 3: it's hard to stay update unless you're using stupid substances.
- 6:07Speaker 3: But I you know, that's no. You know, I'm not
- 6:11Speaker 3: one of those people that's like, let's go do drugs.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I go there for the music. I go there for
- 6:15Speaker 3: for my crew and my family. We do RV park
- 6:19Speaker 3: or RV camping every single year except for last year.
- 6:22Speaker 3: We rent an RV, we fly in, we rent an
- 6:24Speaker 3: RV and we have RV hookups so we can have powers.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But then you're enclosed. Do you have a safe space?
- 6:30Speaker 3: You can, And there's there's camps out there that are
- 6:32Speaker 3: called renegade retigade camps, and they'll do like they'll.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Do like local DJ sets at their camp.
- 6:40Speaker 2: How close is the nearest town?
- 6:42Speaker 3: So it is in what's called Thornville, which is a
- 6:46Speaker 3: town of a population of about nine hundred people or so.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And and do they keep them awake all night?
- 6:52Speaker 1: They yes, pretty much.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But Excision, from what I know, does this really cool
- 6:57Speaker 3: thing where if you live within about a mile radius
- 7:00Speaker 3: of the venue. Because the bass is so loud, it
- 7:02Speaker 3: actually has it's.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Very much felt.
- 7:06Speaker 3: He offers those that live around the area tickets to
- 7:09Speaker 3: Lost Lands, or he'll help them pay for a vacation to.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Go and avoid all town.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Yeah. Because the first the first year of Lost Lands,
- 7:17Speaker 3: and they've made a song about this, there were a
- 7:19Speaker 3: lot of noise complaints. People were like, the base, you
- 7:22Speaker 3: can just feel it rattle your windows, and yeah, you
- 7:25Speaker 3: can your soul decisions coming again, that's super nice.
- 7:30Speaker 1: So I'll pay for you to go out of town
- 7:32Speaker 1: for a couple of days.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And it's but Decision loves loves the people there.
- 7:37Speaker 3: He listens to his fans when something's caused, like when
- 7:41Speaker 3: there's an issue or anything like that, and he really
- 7:44Speaker 3: just makes it the best he can. I'm pretty sure
- 7:46Speaker 3: at this point he owns half of this land because
- 7:48Speaker 3: he's built out so much. He even built a tunnel
- 7:50Speaker 3: underneath the freeway that they used to have to like
- 7:52Speaker 3: block off for us to cross because camping. No he's
- 7:57Speaker 3: from Canada, but we used to have to block off
- 7:59Speaker 3: the freeway because camping was on one side and then
- 8:02Speaker 3: the venue itself was on the other and it was
- 8:05Speaker 3: caused such an issue they tried to build a scaffolding
- 8:07Speaker 3: bridge around it one year. That was a pain that
- 8:09Speaker 3: was the year I sprained my ankle on Wednesday.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Don't do that. Didn't sprain my ankle, you guys. Gradually, Yeah, lost.
- 8:17Speaker 3: My voice, but that's just because I was enjoying every
- 8:20Speaker 3: moment of being with my crew. And you know, we're
- 8:23Speaker 3: we're already planning next year. I'm going to see if
- 8:25Speaker 3: I can bribe my parents to let me take their
- 8:27Speaker 3: RB so we can save some money this year or
- 8:30Speaker 3: next year. But I love sharing it. I love sharing
- 8:33Speaker 3: the experience. I love sharing the music.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And you come back like refreshed and energized.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I come back refreshed, I come back a little bit
- 8:41Speaker 3: less stressed. I come back with new goals and new plans.
- 8:45Speaker 3: My therapist, who I was talking to you yesterday basically said,
- 8:47Speaker 3: it's like my New Year's because it's when I'm able
- 8:50Speaker 3: to reset and refocus and kind of put my goals
- 8:52Speaker 3: back into perspective. And it's I mainly do that because
- 8:58Speaker 3: I want to.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I never want to miss. I've gotten engaged there.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I watch my best friends get engaged there, my husband
- 9:03Speaker 3: and I technically got married there.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It means a lot to you. It does.
- 9:07Speaker 3: It is cherished Land to me, and I will go
- 9:11Speaker 3: every single year, I won't miss it. So you're gonna
- 9:13Speaker 3: hear about it every single year and you're gonna see
- 9:15Speaker 3: new photos.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I mean, how much does it cost to do this?
- 9:19Speaker 3: So we always do VIP tickets which start out at
- 9:21Speaker 3: about six hundred and fifty dollars per ticket for the whole.
- 9:24Speaker 1: For that's for three days.
- 9:26Speaker 3: But also VIP means I get free showers, so I
- 9:29Speaker 3: shower every single day.
- 9:31Speaker 2: You have to have people watch you, but you can no.
- 9:34Speaker 3: But then the RV camping is roughly about I think
- 9:39Speaker 3: I think this year is about eighteen hundred for hookups
- 9:43Speaker 3: so I have power and everything like that. We do
- 9:46Speaker 3: Wednesday early entry, which is another one hundred dollars additional,
- 9:49Speaker 3: just because we want to get there. We want to
- 9:51Speaker 3: set up on Wednesday, be comfortable because Thursday they do
- 9:54Speaker 3: this massive pre party with like thirty DJs.
- 9:57Speaker 1: On stage that'll just go back to back to back.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So that's the that's where I actually get a meat,
- 10:02Speaker 3: a bunch of DJs. I have one more collage of
- 10:05Speaker 3: all the DJs that well, some of the DJs I
- 10:07Speaker 3: got to meet this year and see. So up in
- 10:11Speaker 3: the top left corner is Wales. That's my favorite French DJ.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Next to that is Heritage, who is phenomenal. Just below
- 10:19Speaker 3: that on the left hand side is Tyne in Uh
- 10:22Speaker 3: and then the bottom left hand side is Sippy, She's
- 10:25Speaker 3: an Australian DJ that I love running into. And then
- 10:29Speaker 3: on the the last one is Hayes who makes the
- 10:31Speaker 3: funniest social media videos. But that's the time that we
- 10:35Speaker 3: that's the only time we hang out on the rail
- 10:37Speaker 3: and we actually get really cool pictures, like professional pictures
- 10:40Speaker 3: and videos. So those will be coming out at some
- 10:42Speaker 3: point once they're edited, and I'll be sharing those around
- 10:44Speaker 3: my social media.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You make your own food in the RV or you buy.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Food so well, so we buy food at we show up.
- 10:52Speaker 3: We get the RV on Wednesday, we hit the Walmart
- 10:55Speaker 3: and Sam's Club and we stock up on you know
- 10:58Speaker 3: the little like snap that we have things that we
- 11:01Speaker 3: can throw on the freezer, water, gatorade, things to keep
- 11:04Speaker 3: us hydrated. I always take immunal boosters and multi vitamins
- 11:09Speaker 3: so none of us get sick. Yes, I lost my voice,
- 11:11Speaker 3: I'm not sick. And then you know, we eat, We
- 11:16Speaker 3: eat dinner.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Inside the venue. That's about it.
- 11:18Speaker 3: The only time we actually buy food because it's really
- 11:20Speaker 3: it can get expensive, but we buy food for like
- 11:24Speaker 3: dinner inside the venue so we can keep ourselves going
- 11:28Speaker 3: and energized.
- 11:29Speaker 2: So sounds fun. And I know you're already planning for next.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Year, planning for next year, and I will do a
- 11:35Speaker 3: mass social media drop on my social Instagram at Captain
- 11:40Speaker 3: c apt understore Katie c A I t y go
- 11:44Speaker 3: check it out. All the videos and pictures and stuff
- 11:46Speaker 3: that I took will be up there in by this weekend.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Well, you've you've inspired me to get back into DJing.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I used to do it, yeah, a long time ago.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Well, I mean, like I DJ carry, let's DJ together,
- 11:57Speaker 1: let's do this.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I've already picked my DJ name's DJ food Trucks.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Food trucks. Love it. People love food.
- 12:04Speaker 2: People love food and they love DJ.
- 12:07Speaker 1: That means you have to have food trucks at your DJ.
- 12:08Speaker 2: About that. Years ago, years ago you were going to
- 12:12Speaker 2: be DJ face painting, but it was. But now it's
- 12:16Speaker 2: all about food trucks, DJ food trucks.
- 12:19Speaker 1: But thanks guys. I love sharing it.
- 12:20Speaker 3: And uh, you know, if you ever have questions about
- 12:22Speaker 3: lost mans or anything, as Carrie has said before, I
- 12:25Speaker 3: could definitely teach a class on.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Lost tights, talking your voices going away.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I'm working on it all right,
