- 5:36Speaker 3: Well, what if they wanted it?
- 5:37Speaker 2: They don't want it. Nobody wants that. What if they do,
- 5:41Speaker 2: they don't.
- 5:42Speaker 4: That's three things you need to know more at Thealabama
- 5:44Speaker 4: Show Dot com.
- 5:45Speaker 1: If you're listening to the Alabama Show, the following program
- 5:49Speaker 1: is on demand.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Good morning, Sarah, what's your issue for Ask Alabama?
- 5:54Speaker 7: I don't want to take home what my mother in
- 5:56Speaker 7: law got my son for Christmas?
- 5:58Speaker 4: Oh no, that's we do Ask Alabama. If you ever
- 6:02Speaker 4: need advice or help, call the show. Eight three thirty
- 6:04Speaker 4: five by one Bama is the number. What's going on
- 6:07Speaker 4: with your mother in law and what she's getting your
- 6:09Speaker 4: son for Christmas?
- 6:10Speaker 7: So my mother in law, we've had issues and she's
- 6:13Speaker 7: not been respecting boundaries. Okay, and they hear she went
- 6:17Speaker 7: over the top.
- 6:17Speaker 2: What'd she do?
- 6:18Speaker 7: Well? So my husband and I we asked her not
- 6:20Speaker 7: to get our son anything major, because I mean, he
- 6:23Speaker 7: has a ton of toys and we.
- 6:24Speaker 6: Just don't have room for everything.
- 6:26Speaker 4: So what did you ask her to do instead of
- 6:28Speaker 4: getting toys?
- 6:29Speaker 7: I was thinking more of like experiences, like we could
- 6:32Speaker 7: go to the zoo aquarium, things like that, like some
- 6:36Speaker 7: sort of membership.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Okay, those are good gifts.
- 6:39Speaker 7: Yeah, So she didn't really like that, I guess. So
- 6:42Speaker 7: she asked me to make her an Amazon wish list,
- 6:46Speaker 7: and so I spent a lot.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Of time on that trying to just keep it super.
- 6:48Speaker 7: Modest, make really good toy choices.
- 6:51Speaker 6: And she didn't stick to it at all.
- 6:53Speaker 2: She didn't even use it. So what did she get?
- 6:55Speaker 2: What did she do?
- 6:56Speaker 7: Okay, so my husband tells me, He's like, yeah, my
- 6:58Speaker 7: mom called and she said she might be on the
- 7:01Speaker 7: naughty list.
- 7:01Speaker 6: She sent him a video of all the presence.
- 7:04Speaker 2: That she got my son. What all did your mother
- 7:06Speaker 2: in law get your son?
- 7:07Speaker 6: I mean she got him a ride on car.
- 7:10Speaker 7: I think there was a keyboard, a play kitchen, she
- 7:12Speaker 7: got out my Amazon Kids iPad, and we don't do
- 7:16Speaker 7: screams with my son.
- 7:17Speaker 2: So what did you tell your husband?
- 7:18Speaker 7: I told my husband that she can keep everything at
- 7:21Speaker 7: her house.
- 7:21Speaker 6: We told her not to get those things. We don't
- 7:23Speaker 6: even have room for it.
- 7:24Speaker 7: She disrespected the boundary I set for her.
- 7:27Speaker 6: I'm just tired of it. And he's in here calling
- 7:29Speaker 6: mea grinch.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Your husband wants to bring this stuff home. Yeah, he
- 7:33Speaker 2: doesn't want to hurt her.
- 7:36Speaker 7: Yeah, it's causing problems with my husband, didn't I So
- 7:38Speaker 7: I'm just I'm true in to see them.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Oh, I bet call the show. Have you ever dealt
- 7:43Speaker 2: with something like this where.
- 7:45Speaker 4: You asked somebody not to get your kid a ton
- 7:47Speaker 4: of things, and they ignored what you asked and did
- 7:49Speaker 4: it anyway, And how did you handle it? Eight three
- 7:52Speaker 4: thirty five oh one Bama is the number. That's eight
- 7:55Speaker 4: three thirty five oh one two two six two.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You were listening to the Alabama Show.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Sarah's mad that her mother in law bought her kid
- 8:03Speaker 4: a lot of gifts for Christmas even though she asked
- 8:05Speaker 4: her not to because they have too many toys and
- 8:08Speaker 4: I love Mary. On Facebook's comments, she said, clean out
- 8:10Speaker 4: the current toys and donate. Eight three three five oh

- 8:31Speaker 4: spoil your grandkids.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah, even if the parents ask you not to.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I think the big issue is that they just don't
- 8:39Speaker 4: have room for any of the stuff.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Well that could be a problem, but still accept them
- 8:45Speaker 3: and then bring them back over their house.

- 9:00Speaker 4: Do you have advice for Sarah who's mother in law,
- 9:03Speaker 4: Pat crossed her boundaries and bought all these presents.
- 9:06Speaker 8: I do a couple different things. Okay, say you don't
- 9:10Speaker 8: have room in the chunk of your car for everything,
- 9:13Speaker 8: and only bring the things that he's most excited about.
- 9:16Speaker 2: That's a good idea.
- 9:17Speaker 8: He'll get the other stuff later.
- 9:18Speaker 9: I like that.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And then just leave it there forever.
- 9:20Speaker 8: And then just leave it there for everything. Okay, Okay,
- 9:24Speaker 8: that's what I have done on many occasions. But I
- 9:28Speaker 8: will say, don't make a big thing out of it.
- 9:30Speaker 8: Grandparents get excited to buy presents, and parents get really
- 9:34Speaker 8: cranky when there's a bunch of presents because we have
- 9:36Speaker 8: to figure it out. Yeah, but when we're grandparents, we're
- 9:38Speaker 8: going to do the same things.
- 9:40Speaker 2: That is true. That I mean, that is tree.
- 9:42Speaker 8: I mean, you just gotta take it with a green
- 9:44Speaker 8: of salt.
- 9:44Speaker 2: All right.

- 10:17Speaker 4: Okay, And did you buy your grand baby a ton
- 10:20Speaker 4: of stuff for Christmas?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Well? So, the situation was when I found out my
- 10:24Speaker 2: son was having a baby and the baby was doing September.

- 10:30Speaker 6: Of stuff before we even had the baby shower.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Oh wow, okay.
- 10:33Speaker 9: And my grandson's mother was like, you got to stop
- 10:37Speaker 9: buying stuff so other people can buy stuff for the
- 10:40Speaker 9: baby shower.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I said, okay, So I bought Christmas okay, before the

- 13:11Speaker 4: surprising today grab a box of tissues.
- 13:14Speaker 2: You will be crying by the end of this segment.
- 13:16Speaker 4: One of the people who submitted our winner for today
- 13:20Speaker 4: is Keltsey. She submitted somebody from church. Good morning, Kelsey,
- 13:24Speaker 4: it's Alabama with producer Blake.
- 13:26Speaker 2: How are you?
- 13:26Speaker 9: Oh my gosh, I'm good.
- 13:27Speaker 6: How are you?
- 13:28Speaker 2: Do you know why we're calling you? Yes? So Kelsey
- 13:32Speaker 2: nominated Anallyse.
- 13:34Speaker 4: I haven't told Producer Blake this story yet.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I cried reading it.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Kelsey nominated analse Am I saying that right, Yes, Annalise,
- 13:43Speaker 4: and you know.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Her from church.
- 13:45Speaker 6: Yes, we go to church with our family.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Do you want to tell me the story of Analyse?
- 13:49Speaker 6: Okay, So she is the oldest daughter of three and
- 13:53Speaker 6: her mom was a children of Bark last month.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Annalise is eighteen years old. This is really important.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:00Speaker 6: Yeah, So she's very young. Her and her grandmother are
- 14:04Speaker 6: sharing custody of a younger girls now and they just
- 14:06Speaker 6: lost their mom, you know, right near the holidays. Her
- 14:09Speaker 6: middle sister, she was in the car wreck as well.
- 14:13Speaker 6: So she's had a couple of surgeries and has a
- 14:16Speaker 6: lot of doctor's appointments ahead of her.
- 14:18Speaker 2: How old are the two younger sisters.
- 14:21Speaker 6: I'm not sure there's BacT ages. I know between like
- 14:24Speaker 6: nine and thirteen, I believe.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Now, can you imagine all of a sudden, you're an
- 14:28Speaker 4: eighteen year old producer of Blake and your mom And
- 14:30Speaker 4: let me get this right, her mom was hit and
- 14:33Speaker 4: killed by a drunk driver. Yeah, she was being eighteen
- 14:37Speaker 4: years old. Your mom gets hit and dies in a
- 14:41Speaker 4: car accident, and then you have to get custody of
- 14:44Speaker 4: your two younger sisters.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So they were I mean, there's no doubt in my mind.
- 14:49Speaker 4: I was like, we we are going to help Anales
