Latest / Best of the NFL Podcast Network / The Season with Peter Schrager: Ultimate Super Bowl and Super Bowl Party Recap (with Ron Berkowitz)
Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up, Everybody, This is
- 0:25Speaker 1: Peter Schrager. This is the Season with Peter Schrager, and
- 0:28Speaker 1: this is the Wednesday after the Super Bowl. If my
- 0:31Speaker 1: voice doesn't seem as strong or as powerful as it
- 0:35Speaker 1: usually does, it's because I've been talking working, partying, networking, eating,
- 0:45Speaker 1: not sleeping, being in an airport, being in an airport,
- 0:50Speaker 1: being in an airport a lot over the last eight days.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I was mister airport on Monday, just when you thought
- 0:57Speaker 1: you were finally done, and you have that feeling after
- 1:00Speaker 1: like a long bachelor party, where you're like, I just
- 1:01Speaker 1: want to get home, or you have some regrettable time
- 1:04Speaker 1: in Vegas, like I just need to get home. I
- 1:05Speaker 1: need to get home, I need to ge, I need
- 1:06Speaker 1: to be in my bed, I need to be with
- 1:08Speaker 1: my family, and then the plane is delayed four hours.
- 1:12Speaker 1: It was only fitting after a New Orleans Super Bowl
- 1:14Speaker 1: where I was there for eight days, that we got
- 1:17Speaker 1: every last second of that New Orleans Airport experience. Super Bowl.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I don't know, you could turn a lot of places
- 1:25Speaker 1: for a recap of the game, but I wanted to
- 1:28Speaker 1: give you a different look at it as a recap
- 1:30Speaker 1: of the experience for someone who's on the inside, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: that person on the inside would be me in this case,
- 1:36Speaker 1: at a really cool week the assignments, whereas follows Monday Night.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I had to be in there on Sunday because I
- 1:45Speaker 1: was going to host the NFL and Fox's opening Media
- 1:49Speaker 1: Night broadcast, which is to me, an ultimate honor short
- 1:53Speaker 1: of calling the game, short of hosting NFL honors, short
- 1:57Speaker 1: of being the anchor of the studio pregame show like
- 2:01Speaker 1: a Kurt Menafee, This is a pretty cool deal super
- 2:04Speaker 1: Bowl Week. It's the first time the fans are and
- 2:06Speaker 1: the two teams together, and it's the only time those
- 2:09Speaker 1: two teams are together aside from when they face off
- 2:12Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl. It's always now on Monday Night,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and in this case, the NFL Network aired it and
- 2:19Speaker 1: FS one simulcasted it. Now at every podium is going
- 2:23Speaker 1: to be a star player, but that is like an
- 2:27Speaker 1: absolute free for all. Before the players get to the podium,
- 2:31Speaker 1: they announced both teams, and when they announced both teams,
- 2:35Speaker 1: there was a section where I got to interview one
- 2:38Speaker 1: of the star players as a one off. So I
- 2:42Speaker 1: did my Homes for the Chiefs and I did Saquon
- 2:44Speaker 1: for the Eagles. Both interviews were great, and then I
- 2:48Speaker 1: had a really cool opportunity to be backstage while the
- 2:52Speaker 1: five captains from both teams and the two coaches were
- 2:55Speaker 1: hanging out before being introduced. Interesting to note, not a
- 2:59Speaker 1: lot of co mingling although we were all in the
- 3:02Speaker 1: same area backstage. Not a lot of small talk, not
- 3:05Speaker 1: a lot of band There was a moment where Mahomes
- 3:08Speaker 1: and Hurt dapted each other up, and I believe Lane
- 3:11Speaker 1: Johnson came over and was talking to Travis Kelcey for
- 3:14Speaker 1: a bit. But there wasn't this like jovial hug or
- 3:17Speaker 1: this wasn't this, Hey, let's bust chops. We know each
- 3:19Speaker 1: other from recent Pro Bowls or whatever. No, it wasn't
- 3:22Speaker 1: that these teams were dialed in. And then I got
- 3:25Speaker 1: the opportunity on television but also on that stage to
- 3:28Speaker 1: interview Sirianni and read together. I asked Nick Sirianni, I said, hey, look, Bud,
- 3:34Speaker 1: not in those terms, but this team was two and
- 3:36Speaker 1: two went on the BI and there's a lot of
- 3:38Speaker 1: heat around this squad. You guys rattled off sixteen of
- 3:40Speaker 1: seventeen wins to get to this point. What changed, Sirianni said,
- 3:44Speaker 1: we looked in the mirror, we looked at ourselves. We
- 3:47Speaker 1: spent our bye week tightening things up, and we never
- 3:49Speaker 1: looked back. But the body language was one that was
- 3:53Speaker 1: either a you could view as all business and a
- 3:56Speaker 1: guy who was so locked in for his game plan
- 3:58Speaker 1: that he was ready to play tomorrow, or just tight
- 4:03Speaker 1: in that Sirianni was not looking to huh and crack
- 4:07Speaker 1: jokes and smile. Then I went to my guy with
- 4:09Speaker 1: the Pelican shirt on, and Andy is all smiles, he's
- 4:14Speaker 1: all warmth. And I think my question was what makes
- 4:18Speaker 1: this team different than the team that we saw last year?
- 4:22Speaker 1: And his whole bit was, it's different story for every team,
- 4:25Speaker 1: and we've got DeAndre, we've got Kareem Hunt, and we've
- 4:27Speaker 1: got new people in this building, and every team's different.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And yes, the weight of the three peat was real,
- 4:33Speaker 1: but Andy seemed locked and loaded and relaxed. Wednesday afternoon,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I had the amazing honor of being interviewed by a
- 4:41Speaker 1: bunch of outlets, and after the interviews, I was asked
- 4:46Speaker 1: to go attend Chiefs practice, something I've never done. Before
- 4:49Speaker 1: a Super Bowl week practice. I got to attend Chiefs practice.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I was a guest of Brett Veach in the Chief's
- 4:55Speaker 1: pr department, and it was myself, it was Julian Edelman,
- 4:58Speaker 1: it was Christina Pink, it was Kurt Menafeine, it was
- 5:01Speaker 1: Jimmy Johnson, all from the Fox side. I was at
- 5:04Speaker 1: Chiefs practice on Wednesday, And if you were to ask
- 5:06Speaker 1: me Wednesday, based on all the practices I've been to
- 5:08Speaker 1: with teams before games, and I've been to a lot
- 5:10Speaker 1: through being with Fox and being able to go to
- 5:12Speaker 1: production meetings, I would say the Chiefs were as dialed
- 5:16Speaker 1: in as I've seen a team before a game in
- 5:19Speaker 1: recent history. Like I, only the ball touched the ground.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Mahomes was completely locked in. He came over, said hello briefly.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Kelsey came over, said hello briefly. Andy Reid came over,
- 5:29Speaker 1: said hello briefly. But that was it for the frivulty
- 5:33Speaker 1: and for small talk. They ran with precision. Their defense
- 5:38Speaker 1: looked locked in. Like I'm telling you Wednesday, I'm leaving
- 5:40Speaker 1: that practice. I'm like, I don't know how this team loses.
- 5:43Speaker 1: They've won seventeen straight one score games. I don't know
- 5:47Speaker 1: how this team is gonna lose socially, we got it in.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Wednesday night was a big dinner with Fox. Got to
- 5:56Speaker 1: talk to Tom Brady for quite a bit, sat with Gronk
- 5:58Speaker 1: and his wonderful girlfriend, Camille Edelman, Burkhart, Carissa and Aaron
- 6:06Speaker 1: who are fantastic at what they do, and of course
- 6:09Speaker 1: a lot of different Fox colleagues who are from behind
- 6:12Speaker 1: the scenes. That was Wednesday night, and then I went
- 6:16Speaker 1: to the Volume party afterwards, which felt like a radio
- 6:21Speaker 1: and television convention after dinner drinks event. I got there,
- 6:26Speaker 1: the first person I see is Nick Wright. Talked to
- 6:30Speaker 1: Nick for a while. I didn't realize he was starting
- 6:32Speaker 1: a podcast up with Coward's Network on the Volume, but
- 6:35Speaker 1: the two of us have been, you know, chiefs guys
- 6:37Speaker 1: for the last several years, so it was fun to
- 6:39Speaker 1: actually hang with him in a social setting. Nick's a
- 6:42Speaker 1: cool dude. And then from there, Terrell Owens was in
- 6:46Speaker 1: the house, talk to Teo for a bit, Kyle Van
- 6:49Speaker 1: Noi was there, Gerald McCoy was there. Interesting scene, and
- 6:53Speaker 1: then of course Coward was there and I talked to
- 6:55Speaker 1: Colin for a little bit but not much. He was
- 6:58Speaker 1: like me in and out. Had to go in there
- 7:01Speaker 1: and make my presence felt as Colin has been very
- 7:04Speaker 1: good to me over the years and it was cool
- 7:06Speaker 1: to chat with him. But my takeaway going into like
- 7:09Speaker 1: Thursday was like, I think I'm leaning Chiefs. I think
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'm leading Chiefs. Thursday, of course, very busy day. We
- 7:16Speaker 1: have the Fox production meeting because in addition to my
- 7:19Speaker 1: job on Monday night with Fox Sunday, I had a
- 7:22Speaker 1: very busy afternoon ahead. I would be starting the Fox
- 7:26Speaker 1: NFL pregame show off. I'm the first face you see,
- 7:30Speaker 1: and I was doing so from the Eagles team hotel,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and my assignment was as follows, and this is my producer,
- 7:36Speaker 1: Bill Richards, my producer Jeremy Minnel. They said, there's gonna
- 7:40Speaker 1: be a lot of talk about this game. There's gonna
- 7:42Speaker 1: be a lot of reporting from the team hotels all
- 7:44Speaker 1: week long. I don't want that, but Richard said, I
- 7:47Speaker 1: want something fresh, something that no one else will have.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And you're the first person on our air schefter. Better
- 7:53Speaker 1: not have it in the morning rap report. Better not
- 7:55Speaker 1: have it in the morning. You're gonna be there at
- 7:57Speaker 1: one oh seven Eastern and you're gonna have to break
- 7:59Speaker 1: some news or give us something fresh. Well, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I want to do something that was up to date,
- 8:06Speaker 1: story about you know, Cooper de Jean's path to the
- 8:09Speaker 1: NFL is not up to date. You could write that
- 8:11Speaker 1: on a Thursday or a Wednesday, a story about something
- 8:15Speaker 1: that you know. Lane Johnson told me at Friday's media availability,
- 8:18Speaker 1: it doesn't really have much effect on Sunday morning. So
- 8:22Speaker 1: my goal was I wanted to get what was inside
- 8:26Speaker 1: the room Saturday night when Nick Sirianni addressed his team
- 8:31Speaker 1: assigned to the Eagles. What can I give that's fresh
- 8:34Speaker 1: for that moment? So sure enough, I'm planting all sorts
- 8:37Speaker 1: of seeds. I'm working the phones. I know people in
- 8:39Speaker 1: the Ogles organization, and to their credit, a lot of
- 8:42Speaker 1: those guys, one of them who I told them afterwards,
- 8:45Speaker 1: like I really respected it, A good friend who we
- 8:48Speaker 1: have dealt with a lot over the years. I said,
- 8:50Speaker 1: do me one favorite here. It's Super Bowl Sunday, it's Fox,
- 8:53Speaker 1: it's a millions of people watching. Just let me know
- 8:57Speaker 1: what Sirianni's key points were in his speech to the team,
- 9:00Speaker 1: and his response to me was, Hey, team meetings are sacred, dude.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's one line I will never cross and I'm like,
- 9:08Speaker 1: that's a good answer. I'm like, I can't be angry.
- 9:10Speaker 1: That's good. Of course, there were people in that room
- 9:13Speaker 1: who were more than willing to cross that line, and
- 9:15Speaker 1: they gave me the information. And what I got was
- 9:18Speaker 1: a voice note, not a text, a voice note from
- 9:22Speaker 1: a very trusted source who laid out minute by minute
- 9:26Speaker 1: how the team meeting went and what was cool was.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Throughout the year, Sirianni has relied on like movie clips.
- 9:31Speaker 1: He's shown clips from like, you know, I'm just giving
- 9:33Speaker 1: examples like you'd go to, like, you know, Chariots of
- 9:36Speaker 1: Fire or Gladiator. Here's the movie and here's the clip,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and Sirianni usually has some really cool message, whether it
- 9:45Speaker 1: be based on a historical event or the thing that
- 9:48Speaker 1: this team has been through. On Saturday night before the game,
- 9:52Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni seated the microphone. He said, I'm gonna bring
- 9:54Speaker 1: up team leaders and anyone else who would like to speak.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And the guys who spoke were interesting. It was of course,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you get Saquon who gave an incredible speech, I'm told,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and then Chauncey Gardner Johnson, who's a defensive back leader
- 10:09Speaker 1: of that defensive back room of young talent. He spoke,
- 10:13Speaker 1: Lane spoke. But what I loved hearing, and what was
- 10:16Speaker 1: my big report on Sunday morning, was that Jalen Hurts,
- 10:19Speaker 1: who was rather soft spoken for a guy of his stature,
- 10:24Speaker 1: got up there and gave a riveting four to five
- 10:27Speaker 1: minute speech that motivated the team and sent them on
- 10:31Speaker 1: their way. And that was my opening hit on Fox.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Nailed it, did it perfectly? Tossed back to Kurt Menafie
- 10:37Speaker 1: screaming fans on Bourbon Street. I get the note in
- 10:40Speaker 1: my ear on Sunday morning, Hey, Shrake's great job. I'm like,
- 10:42Speaker 1: all right, did that first it? Second hits an hour later?
- 10:45Speaker 1: Give us something else, something that's even more up to date. Well,
- 10:48Speaker 1: it was Saquon's birthday, and I wanted to make sure
- 10:52Speaker 1: that the crowd knew what Saquon's morning was like on
- 10:56Speaker 1: his birthday, and I went out of my way to
- 10:57Speaker 1: say Saquon's with his family early on, he was at
- 11:00Speaker 1: the team breakfast, He's getting his stuff ready together in
- 11:03Speaker 1: the hotel. I talked his sources close to Saquon. If
- 11:06Speaker 1: you were looking for cakes and balloons and a happy
- 11:10Speaker 1: birthday song, it wasn't happening, locked in, ready to go.
- 11:14Speaker 1: As someone who had never won the Pop Warner level,
- 11:17Speaker 1: had never won a national title in high school or
- 11:20Speaker 1: state title in high school, never won a national title
- 11:23Speaker 1: in college, Saquon Barkley was looking to bring home his
- 11:27Speaker 1: first title trophy that he'd ever won, besides that Big
- 11:31Speaker 1: Ten trophy that he won at the Big Ten Conference
- 11:34Speaker 1: with Penn State. So delivered that report. Nailed it. Now,
- 11:39Speaker 1: we could go back to Thursday, Friday, Saturday in a second,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but I have to explain what happens on game day.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And I was debating having on one of my Fox
- 11:47Speaker 1: producers to go through it with me. But we finished
- 11:50Speaker 1: that hit at the Eagles team hotel, which I could
- 11:52Speaker 1: say now is the Hilton. They were very careful for
- 11:54Speaker 1: us not to say where the Eagles were, saying, well,
- 11:56Speaker 1: they're staying at the Hilton. So we then rush out
- 11:59Speaker 1: of there at a crazy pace. And because it's a
- 12:03Speaker 1: Fox Super Bowl, we have a a you know, a
- 12:08Speaker 1: security guy, We've got a producer, We've got a driver,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, all right, maybe we got like some
- 12:14Speaker 1: sort of escort. Now we got so we're sitting in
- 12:17Speaker 1: traffic for the next you know, twenty minutes, and I'm like,
- 12:21Speaker 1: you know what, get we get out of the car.
- 12:24Speaker 1: We run from our set with our credential. We run
- 12:26Speaker 1: from our set. I'm running through a sea of fans.
- 12:29Speaker 1: See I see like you know, actors and celebrities like shregs.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, how are we doing, Miles Teller, Good
- 12:34Speaker 1: to see you. Like I'm running like I'm just we
- 12:36Speaker 1: got to get to the set because I still had
- 12:37Speaker 1: two hits that we're gonna be at the super Dome
- 12:40Speaker 1: outside and those are happening in like thirty minutes. So
- 12:42Speaker 1: me and my producer Chuck McDonald and our security guy, Scott.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I didn't get Scott's last name, but if you're a
- 12:48Speaker 1: security guy who worked with Fox at the super Bowl
- 12:50Speaker 1: and you're a dude out of Fort Lauderdale, you know
- 12:52Speaker 1: who you are. Scott. Hell of a job we navigated.
- 12:56Speaker 1: We ran from the Hilton to the super Dome. I'm
- 12:59Speaker 1: in like terrible like you know, brown shoes that you
- 13:03Speaker 1: would wear to a bar mitzvah or a wedding. I'm
- 13:05Speaker 1: running in my suit. I get there. We arrived, securities
- 13:09Speaker 1: waiting for us. I get on a golf cart, zoom
- 13:11Speaker 1: up there. Get into the green room at Fox and
- 13:14Speaker 1: it's Edelman, it's Gronk, it's Eli, it's Peyton, Marshaun Lynch
- 13:19Speaker 1: is hanging out, Chris's in there, and then we bang out,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you know, two different you know, pregame hits and in
- 13:25Speaker 1: my last pregame hit with like fifty million people watching,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I look to the camera and I'm like, you know,
- 13:31Speaker 1: Joe Montana had one of his best career games in
- 13:33Speaker 1: this building in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady won his
- 13:37Speaker 1: first Super Bowl and had one of his most dramatic
- 13:39Speaker 1: wins in this building. In the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes
- 13:43Speaker 1: is going for three straight. It is something to do
- 13:45Speaker 1: it in this building. And I look at the camera
- 13:47Speaker 1: and I'm like, and I have no doubt he will.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And guess what he did not He had his worst
- 13:52Speaker 1: game as a pro. Social stuff will come in the
- 13:56Speaker 1: last part of this podcast with my interview with my
- 13:59Speaker 1: guy that I'm going to bring on shortly, but I
- 14:02Speaker 1: just want to tell you about the post game then,
- 14:03Speaker 1: because I had this wild ride the game itself. I
- 14:07Speaker 1: watch in a green room underneath the super Dome and
- 14:11Speaker 1: that's with straight Han Terry. How we all the Fox
- 14:14Speaker 1: guys were basically in a sports bar that they built
- 14:16Speaker 1: for us, and there's TVs up there, and it's one
- 14:19Speaker 1: of these deals where I'm kind of like still the
- 14:21Speaker 1: rookie on the team, so I'm not trying to chime
- 14:23Speaker 1: in with my thoughts, but straight hand shouting out his observations,
- 14:26Speaker 1: Howie Long shouting out his observations. Then at halftime it's
- 14:30Speaker 1: a blowout. They rush out to the field. They're gonna
- 14:33Speaker 1: do their show, but I wanted to see Kendrick Lamar.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Admittedly not a Kendrick guy, Like they don't have a
- 14:40Speaker 1: history with Kendrick obviously. I know the music, and I
- 14:43Speaker 1: know his place in the culture, and I know that
- 14:44Speaker 1: the NFL was gonna, you know'll pump this up as
- 14:47Speaker 1: much as possible. So I'm like, I've got it. If
- 14:49Speaker 1: I'm in the building, we're gonna go sit and watch
- 14:51Speaker 1: this thing. So me, Vick, and Woodson couldn't imagine a
- 14:55Speaker 1: better duo to go with. We sneak onto the field,
- 14:57Speaker 1: Edelman joins us, it's the four of us, and I'll
- 15:00Speaker 1: tell you it was cool. It was great. Like there's
- 15:04Speaker 1: a wild scene out there, but you don't get the
- 15:06Speaker 1: same experience in the building as you do at home.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I then watched it on YouTube and thirty two million
- 15:10Speaker 1: people have and it's amazing choreographic excellence and in his rappings,
- 15:16Speaker 1: great whatever, and it's a fantastic show. And Serena's that
- 15:18Speaker 1: like when you're out there and I'm among stadium workers,
- 15:21Speaker 1: who are you know, singing all the lyrics, but like
- 15:23Speaker 1: you can't see, so I'm just on the field, like
- 15:25Speaker 1: this is cool, this is loud. I know, the not
- 15:28Speaker 1: like us be is coming throughout. I'm like, this is great,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I guess, but I can't wait to watch this, you know,
- 15:33Speaker 1: on the back end. And I did, and obviously you
- 15:35Speaker 1: see that it was successful. It was the most widely
- 15:38Speaker 1: viewed and highest rated halftime show of all time, all
- 15:41Speaker 1: right back to the green room blowout. Game is over.
- 15:44Speaker 1: But my job is to do all the on field
- 15:47Speaker 1: interviews for Fox's post game, and I am like a
- 15:50Speaker 1: bulldog in those situations. I will say this right now,
- 15:53Speaker 1: nobody is better in these situations than me. I'm big,
- 15:56Speaker 1: i use my elbows, I've got a Fox camera, and
- 16:00Speaker 1: I've got the official credential that I'm the guy. So
- 16:03Speaker 1: as much as I love some of those ESPN reporters,
- 16:05Speaker 1: and the the NFL network reporters like don't get in
- 16:09Speaker 1: my way postgame, and we got so many great interviews,
- 16:14Speaker 1: you know, a crying Brandon Graham, who is the heart
- 16:17Speaker 1: and soul of this team, A teary eyed Howie Roseman afterwards,
- 16:22Speaker 1: like moments after the architect got his second super Bowl
- 16:24Speaker 1: ring having beaten now Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes and
- 16:28Speaker 1: super Bowls. And then I rattle them off like Mackay
- 16:31Speaker 1: Beckton when you see that clip of him line on
- 16:33Speaker 1: the field, that's me interviewing him covered in confetti, like
- 16:36Speaker 1: I got dirty. I lied down next to Mackay and
- 16:38Speaker 1: Mackay Junior. If you're a Jets fan, you know his
- 16:41Speaker 1: story four years considered a bust. You know we're not
- 16:44Speaker 1: going to resign him. Sure enough, they move him the
- 16:47Speaker 1: right guard, Jeff Stoutlin and the boys get him going
- 16:49Speaker 1: and he's now a super Bowl champion. Dallas Goddard, we
- 16:52Speaker 1: led an Eagles eag l e s chant with the
- 16:55Speaker 1: fans on Fox, and then I do what I do.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I get the celebrities. Amazing interview with Bradley Cooper. He
- 17:00Speaker 1: only did one after the game. He didn't want to
- 17:02Speaker 1: be the story but he was wanting to do it
- 17:03Speaker 1: with me. We've got a very very small relationship. There's
- 17:06Speaker 1: recognition there. He did it, and then Miles Teller sought
- 17:09Speaker 1: me out. I sought him out and we did an
- 17:12Speaker 1: amazing one where Miles I mean, he's been on Good
- 17:14Speaker 1: Morning Football close to five times probably, and I've seen
- 17:17Speaker 1: him at parties. I saw him at the Fanatics party
- 17:19Speaker 1: the day before, and like, you know, Miles Teller is
- 17:22Speaker 1: a very famous actor, and he's a very accomplished actor.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Between Whiplash and Maverick, that's the two of the biggest
- 17:28Speaker 1: movies you'll see in the last fifteen years. He's also
- 17:31Speaker 1: a awesome dude, like and a guy that I want
- 17:34Speaker 1: to like hang out with and have a drink with.
- 17:36Speaker 1: So we do the interview and immediately Miles goes into
- 17:40Speaker 1: not Hollywood actor mode, but like he's an NFL network
- 17:43Speaker 1: or Fox Sports analyst. He's breaking down. He's like, shrinks,
- 17:46Speaker 1: do you realize that Mahomes had twenty three yards in
- 17:49Speaker 1: the first half and the Eagles had twenty four points
- 17:52Speaker 1: in the first half. And he's like, you know what,
- 17:53Speaker 1: I actually appreciated the fact that we didn't rely on
- 17:55Speaker 1: Saquone of course we had to because DeVante and aj
- 17:57Speaker 1: had their matchups like broke it down, and then I
- 17:59Speaker 1: was like, all right, right, enough of this. This is
- 18:01Speaker 1: this interview is getting along with Miles Teller as the
- 18:03Speaker 1: next uh Dan Orlowski breaking down film. I'm like, Miles,
- 18:07Speaker 1: where are we partying? He's like, I'm parting with the team.
- 18:09Speaker 1: He's like, I've been here for four days, probably two
- 18:11Speaker 1: days too long, but I got a little bit of
- 18:13Speaker 1: juice left, and that clip of him saying I got
- 18:15Speaker 1: a little bit of juice left went on Instagram and
- 18:17Speaker 1: went nuts and gosh, that's what I love doing. Get
- 18:21Speaker 1: back to the crew at the desk. We say goodbye
- 18:24Speaker 1: to Michael Vick because he's now going to be the
- 18:25Speaker 1: head coach in Norfolk State. I've worked with Michael Vick
- 18:28Speaker 1: for the last eight years. I've hung out with Michael
- 18:30Speaker 1: Vick the last twenty two Sundays and twenty two Saturdays
- 18:34Speaker 1: for the last eight years of my life. He is
- 18:35Speaker 1: a brother. We got to say goodbye to Michael. As
- 18:38Speaker 1: we're saying goodbye, we're walking off set and again it's Fox,
- 18:42Speaker 1: so we're like souped up to the nines like they've
- 18:45Speaker 1: done these like rehearsals for three weeks. They know everything
- 18:48Speaker 1: every in and out of the Super Dome. So we
- 18:50Speaker 1: have a golf cart that's going to take us from
- 18:52Speaker 1: the set back to the dressing room. We're going to
- 18:56Speaker 1: change into casual clothes, and a golf cart is going
- 18:58Speaker 1: to take us and escort us to a car that's
- 19:01Speaker 1: going to have some detail to it, and we're gonna
- 19:03Speaker 1: be able to get back to our hotel pretty seamlessly.
- 19:05Speaker 1: As we're getting off that golf cart, I see this
- 19:08Speaker 1: gentleman who is easily in his sixties, and he's kind
- 19:13Speaker 1: of walking by in like a like a quarter zip
- 19:16Speaker 1: fleece that you would see like Eli or Payton wearing
- 19:19Speaker 1: on the Manning cast. And he's got like a Super
- 19:21Speaker 1: Bowl champion hat in his hand, but he's not wearing it.
- 19:26Speaker 1: And I'm like, holy, that's Vic Fangio alone walking around
- 19:30Speaker 1: the bowels of the Superdome. Vic Fangio coached his first
- 19:36Speaker 1: season in the NFL in nineteen eighty six, and non ironically,
- 19:42Speaker 1: non coincidentally, whatever it is, he coached the New Orleans
- 19:45Speaker 1: Saints defense and they were used to be called the
- 19:48Speaker 1: Dome Patrol, and they had this great linebacking corps of
- 19:51Speaker 1: Ricky Jackson and Vaughn Johnson and Pat Swilling and Sam Mills,
- 19:56Speaker 1: the late great Sam Mills, and he was their linebackers
- 19:59Speaker 1: coach and then he was the coordinator. And that was
- 20:01Speaker 1: in nineteen eighty six, and Fangio's career spans thirty eight
- 20:06Speaker 1: years in the NFL, and he had never won a ring.
- 20:09Speaker 1: He had coached in that same building twelve years ago
- 20:12Speaker 1: for the Niners as their defensive coordinator and came up
- 20:15Speaker 1: short obviously in that game against the Ravens and the Harbowl,
- 20:19Speaker 1: and I'm like, holy crap, Vic Fangio. And then I'm like,
- 20:22Speaker 1: where are you going? Vic? He's like going to the
- 20:24Speaker 1: team buses, but they don't leave in a little bit.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I go, okay, and I'm with Carrissa and Chrissa Thompson's like, Vic,
- 20:29Speaker 1: do you want to ride with us back to our
- 20:30Speaker 1: hotel and we'll drop you off. He's like sure. So
- 20:34Speaker 1: the night he won a Super Bowl after thirty eight
- 20:36Speaker 1: years of waiting, Vic Fangio sat next to Peter Schrigger
- 20:40Speaker 1: in a car ride that took twenty five minutes in
- 20:43Speaker 1: traffic with Carrissa Thompson Julian Edelman, Charles Woodson, and Michael
- 20:47Speaker 1: Vick with us pepperingham questions and him just like soaking
- 20:50Speaker 1: it all in that he was finally a Super Bowl champion.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Vic Fangio see next to me. I'm asking Vic Fangio about, like,
- 20:56Speaker 1: tell me about the ninety six Panthers with Lamar Lathan
- 20:59Speaker 1: and Samuel He's like, Sreger, you know too much. I'm like, no,
- 21:01Speaker 1: I love this stuff. Vic was excited to do it
- 21:04Speaker 1: and was happy to win, but like there was no
- 21:07Speaker 1: like great like emotion of like crying or elation play
- 21:10Speaker 1: winning a super Bowl. Happy for him. We drop him
- 21:13Speaker 1: off because there's so much traffic. He's like, just let
- 21:15Speaker 1: me out. He was going to the team party where
- 21:17Speaker 1: Sexy Red is going to perform, and we drop him
- 21:20Speaker 1: off on the middle of Canal Street, literally, Vic Fango,
- 21:22Speaker 1: with no security, no credential to nothing. We drop off
- 21:25Speaker 1: Vic Fangio in the middle of Canal Street with like
- 21:27Speaker 1: a solid mile for him to walk alone back to
- 21:29Speaker 1: the Hilton, and he did so with not a single
- 21:32Speaker 1: fan stopping him on the street. He just walked, just
- 21:34Speaker 1: walked briskly and got to the hotel and then was
- 21:36Speaker 1: partying with everybody else. One more shout out for someone
- 21:40Speaker 1: who won. I gave Howie his love. But I've become
- 21:42Speaker 1: really close with Bob Lang over the years. Bob Lang
- 21:44Speaker 1: runs PR for the forty nine Ers. If Vic Fangio
- 21:47Speaker 1: had a cool story, Bob Lang's got a cool one too.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So anytime you need to line up an interview with
- 21:52Speaker 1: Sirianni or Saquan or Jalen Hurts, you have to go
- 21:56Speaker 1: through like the gatekeeper, and the gatekeeper's Bob.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Now.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I got to know Bob Lang his first stint with
- 22:01Speaker 1: the Eagles back when Andy was the coach and Bob
- 22:04Speaker 1: was working for the Eagles from like two thousand to
- 22:08Speaker 1: like two thousand and eight, actually it might have been
- 22:09Speaker 1: ninety eight to two thousand and eight. Where his years
- 22:11Speaker 1: with the Eagles, there's always the assistant PR guy. He
- 22:15Speaker 1: then took a job with a terrible forty nine Ers
- 22:17Speaker 1: team to go run the forty nine Ers PR team. Well,
- 22:20Speaker 1: in that whole window is when they bring on Harbaugh,
- 22:24Speaker 1: they get you know, Alden Smith and Justin Smith, and
- 22:28Speaker 1: then Frank Gord develops into who he is and Kaepernick
- 22:30Speaker 1: comes in for Alex Smith and they go to all
- 22:33Speaker 1: these different you know, big games, the NFC Championship in
- 22:35Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. So he went with Andy for all
- 22:39Speaker 1: of those early years where the Eagles couldn't get over
- 22:41Speaker 1: the hump where they would go to the conference championship
- 22:43Speaker 1: game every year and they would lose to the Buccaneers
- 22:45Speaker 1: and the Rams, and then they would win and they
- 22:47Speaker 1: would beat the eat the Falcons, and they went to
- 22:49Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, but they lost to the to the
- 22:52Speaker 1: to the Patriots, of course, and then they went back
- 22:54Speaker 1: to the NFC Championship game against the Cardinals that year
- 22:57Speaker 1: they lose. So he had all these NFC Championship appearances.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Then he goes to the forty nine ers where they
- 23:03Speaker 1: went to the NFC Championship game every year, played the Seahawks.
- 23:06Speaker 1: They they would lose, you know, all these years they
- 23:08Speaker 1: would go to the NFC Championship game with the forty
- 23:11Speaker 1: nine ers, goes to the Super Bowl with the forty
- 23:13Speaker 1: nine Ers as he did with the Eagles, and loses there.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Then he comes back to the Eagles in twenty twenty one,
- 23:21Speaker 1: so he misses the Eagles winning their Super Bowl in
- 23:23Speaker 1: twenty seventeen. Member head of pr comes back to the
- 23:26Speaker 1: Eagles and he's with them since twenty twenty one, So
- 23:29Speaker 1: what do we have in twenty twenty one, We got,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you know, another Super Bowl appearance in twenty you know,
- 23:36Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, they come all the way to the end,
- 23:39Speaker 1: they lose, and then he gets to go all the
- 23:41Speaker 1: way again. So in total, he had been to ten
- 23:45Speaker 1: conference championship games and four Super Bowls before even entering
- 23:51Speaker 1: Super Bowl fifty nine. And Bob tells me this, and
- 23:54Speaker 1: I'm like, holy crap, I gotta do this story. Bob,
- 23:57Speaker 1: you're the loved in the league. You're the one who
- 23:58Speaker 1: broke up the Jim Schwartz Harball fight, Like did all this,
- 24:01Speaker 1: You're like a beloved guy as far as a as
- 24:04Speaker 1: a pr chief goes like, don't say a word about
- 24:06Speaker 1: do not. I'm like, it's the funniest thing. Bob is always,
- 24:09Speaker 1: you know, spreading the word and trying to protect his guys,
- 24:12Speaker 1: but also be proactive with the media and Eagles and
- 24:15Speaker 1: setting narratives and making sure that we get the right
- 24:17Speaker 1: stuff out with the Eagles Autism group and all the
- 24:19Speaker 1: stuff they do. And yet when it came to this,
- 24:21Speaker 1: he was super sensive. He's like, do not mention this
- 24:23Speaker 1: it's not about me. Well, yesterday I had to put
- 24:26Speaker 1: the tweet out, uh, because on the field there's pandemonium.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I'm one of the only reporters allowed on the field,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and it's Hurts and it's Saquon and it's Lane Johnson
- 24:36Speaker 1: and it's my Alatta and it's all these guys. And
- 24:38Speaker 1: I see Big Dom and Big Tom. I don't know
- 24:40Speaker 1: if he want this out there. Big Dom's got a
- 24:41Speaker 1: little twinkle in his eye. I could tell he was
- 24:43Speaker 1: pretty emotional. He was excited. And then I see Bob Lang,
- 24:46Speaker 1: who's just doing his job, and I stop him and
- 24:48Speaker 1: I look him right in the eyes, and Bob's got
- 24:49Speaker 1: this little this beard and I look him. I go, Bob, Bob, Bob.
- 24:52Speaker 1: He's like, yes, straight track. They go, You're a super
- 24:54Speaker 1: Bowl champion, Bro, and he's like, I love you, buddy,
- 24:57Speaker 1: gives me a hug. It was a cool moment for
- 24:58Speaker 1: someone that you've been working alongside in different capacities with
- 25:01Speaker 1: and it's that. That's the super Bowl to me, it's
- 25:04Speaker 1: that moment. And to see Bob Lang forget Saquon, that's
- 25:08Speaker 1: an amazing story that we're going to celebrate for the
- 25:10Speaker 1: rest of time. To see Bob Lang like an unknown
- 25:14Speaker 1: national name by any means, and a guy who even
- 25:17Speaker 1: the Eagles fans probably don't know because he's so behind
- 25:19Speaker 1: the scenes. But to see him finally get a Super
- 25:21Speaker 1: Bowl victory, like that's the special stuff. Then I put
- 25:23Speaker 1: out a tweet yesterday and I put a tweet out
- 25:25Speaker 1: about Beckton about him getting one, and that got like
- 25:29Speaker 1: seventeen thousand retweets. I put one out about Bob and
- 25:32Speaker 1: it got about twenty retweets. But I care more about
- 25:35Speaker 1: the latter because I know the journey that he's been on.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I was all over the place super Bowl Week. I
- 25:48Speaker 1: went to some really cool events, and if you're going
- 25:51Speaker 1: for the football analysis, you'll get it. But I wanted
- 25:54Speaker 1: to bring on a guest this week, and a guy
- 25:56Speaker 1: who I've known for many years, and a guy who
- 25:58Speaker 1: I love, who is also a behind the scenes force
- 26:02Speaker 1: in putting on the Super Bowl Week in a way
- 26:05Speaker 1: that makes it memorable, in a way that makes it
- 26:08Speaker 1: pop out, in a way that makes it one of
- 26:09Speaker 1: one compared to all these other events that you see
- 26:12Speaker 1: during the calendar year. With no further ado, I want
- 26:16Speaker 1: to bring on our guests for the week. He is
- 26:17Speaker 1: one of the greatest publicity men in the world. But
- 26:20Speaker 1: I also look at him as just a connected dude
- 26:22Speaker 1: who knows how to get the party going. He is
- 26:25Speaker 1: the founder of Burke Communications and a University of Miami
- 26:29Speaker 1: Diehard maybe the biggest Miami fan I know. He's also
- 26:32Speaker 1: fresh off a crazy week. We're going to go through it,
- 26:35Speaker 1: mister Ron Berkowitz. Ron, what's up baby?
- 26:38Speaker 2: Hey Peter, thanks for having me.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Man. I was gonna wear my Rayos grid Iron Club jacket,
- 26:41Speaker 3: but I can't even find it.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, because I already wore it on Monday football. Ron.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Let's first, before we get into the week, let's first
- 26:52Speaker 1: describe who you are. For those if you were to
- 26:54Speaker 1: get in an elevator and say, all right, Ron Burkwitz,
- 26:57Speaker 1: you've got your own company. Is it PR is it events?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Is it marketing? Tell us quickly who you are, your story,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and really what your company does from the grand scheme?
- 27:07Speaker 2: Sure, well, I mean we do all that PR, marketing
- 27:10Speaker 2: and events.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Uh, we represent you know, some of the best and
- 27:14Speaker 3: biggest in sports entertainment, you know, and and around the world.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Really corporate companies and people from you know, Meek Mill
- 27:22Speaker 3: and Robert Kraft and Alex Rodriguez to the Carolina Panthers,
- 27:26Speaker 3: and David Tepper and Nicole Tepper to Michael Rubin and
- 27:29Speaker 3: all his fanatics brands, tops Lid's, Mitchell Andess fanatics and
- 27:35Speaker 3: everything in between, so we kind of handle a little
- 27:37Speaker 3: bit of everything. Super Bowl Week for us is pretty insane.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Not only you know, do we have clients like Reyo's.
- 27:44Speaker 3: There do pop ups which we'll talk about, but but
- 27:47Speaker 3: you know, we have a ton of players that we
- 27:49Speaker 3: do media tours for all week long, which you know,
- 27:52Speaker 3: you guys see all week when these players are are
- 27:55Speaker 3: promoting something that they're representing, plus the game, so it's
- 27:59Speaker 3: a it's a pretty awesome week for us, and we
- 28:02Speaker 3: get to hang out with guys like you man and
- 28:03Speaker 3: have some fun.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Like when I see your face, like a smile gets
- 28:07Speaker 1: onto my grill so big and wide because I feel
- 28:10Speaker 1: like I only see you in my most euphoric moments
- 28:12Speaker 1: like fun. I think of ron, I think of fun.
- 28:15Speaker 1: And for you, it's work, like you are working. And
- 28:20Speaker 1: you mentioned very humbly, very modestly, that you know you're
- 28:22Speaker 1: involved with the fanatics in Michael Rubin world. Well, the
- 28:25Speaker 1: biggest events at the Super Bowl are hosted by Michael
- 28:28Speaker 1: Rubin and Fanatics and the first one I'll never get
- 28:31Speaker 1: to because it's like a very exclusive room. Ever, well,
- 28:35Speaker 1: I'm happy with my place in the in the in
- 28:37Speaker 1: the Fanatics friends sphere. But I would say there's there's
- 28:40Speaker 1: obviously the White Party in the summer, and then there's
- 28:42Speaker 1: a super Bowl party on Saturday. But there is a
- 28:46Speaker 1: brunch that Fanatics puts on that Michael Rubin's hosts, that
- 28:49Speaker 1: Michael Rubin hosts. That is a very exclusive room that
- 28:53Speaker 1: I think is something that is not as well publicized
- 28:56Speaker 1: and well advertised and as well celebrated that you have
- 28:59Speaker 1: to help organize and put on. Can you take us
- 29:01Speaker 1: through the Michael Rubin Brunch, who's in that room and
- 29:05Speaker 1: really what the gist of it is?
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, in a two thousand and
- 29:09Speaker 3: twenty in Miami, Michael and Casey Wasserman put this together
- 29:14Speaker 3: for the first time. It was their lunch that they
- 29:17Speaker 3: decided we're going to put together in one room the
- 29:20Speaker 3: one hundred most influential people in sports entertainment business that
- 29:23Speaker 3: are at Super Bowl. And it isn't publicized, It isn't
- 29:27Speaker 3: something that Michael wants to put out there. You know,
- 29:30Speaker 3: people post photos on their Instagram and that's kind of
- 29:33Speaker 3: how it gets out there.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Or they tweet stuff or whatever it is.
- 29:36Speaker 3: But it is a amazing room. I mean, you walk into
- 29:40Speaker 3: that room and you have you know, Hans Vesper from
- 29:44Speaker 3: the CEO of ver Eizen, to Tom Brady to obviously Michael,
- 29:48Speaker 3: and Governor Josh Shapiro from the State of Pennsylvania, Howie Roseman,
- 29:53Speaker 3: you know, great players. It's you know, it's pretty awesome.
- 29:59Speaker 3: This year when I walked in, it was actually it
- 30:01Speaker 3: was actually pretty funny. I came in, you know, it
- 30:03Speaker 3: was Friday. I get in there a little bit early
- 30:05Speaker 3: to just at our you know, photographers that Michael has
- 30:08Speaker 3: make sure they know what they're doing and and we
- 30:10Speaker 3: use all this obviously is to get it for everybody else,
- 30:13Speaker 3: like we're not putting those photos out there again, like
- 30:15Speaker 3: the guests want pictures of each other talking together. It's
- 30:19Speaker 3: it's pretty unique. So I walk in there and the
- 30:22Speaker 3: only people in the restaurant are are Peyton and Archie Man.
- 30:27Speaker 3: You're just sitting there there like a half early early
- 30:31Speaker 3: half an hour at least, this was probably forty five
- 30:33Speaker 3: minutes early.
- 30:34Speaker 2: And I walk in and Archie I got just this
- 30:39Speaker 2: biggest smile.
- 30:40Speaker 3: He's like, oh, Ron, He's like, you know because I
- 30:43Speaker 3: just left him the night before him Cooper and Eli
- 30:47Speaker 3: at REOs on Thursday night, and when we left that party,
- 30:50Speaker 3: by the way, and Archie, who you know, had the
- 30:54Speaker 3: you know, the demanding's, had the time of their lives.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I think this week through the Kings of New Orleans, like,
- 30:58Speaker 3: I mean there the only ridiculous thing is that the
- 31:01Speaker 3: Hall of Fame doesn't put Eli in while they're in
- 31:02Speaker 3: New Orleans.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I think that, I mean, they should shut down the
- 31:04Speaker 1: Hall of.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Fame just put them in a lot of a lot
- 31:07Speaker 3: of issues with that different podcast for that one, but
- 31:12Speaker 3: that family obviously they're literally obviously like the first family
- 31:15Speaker 3: of the NFL, but in that city.
- 31:18Speaker 2: They own it. And Archie turns and he looks at
- 31:22Speaker 2: me and he was like, last night was pretty fun, huh.
- 31:24Speaker 2: I go, yeah, it was great.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I go, honestly, like, Cooper is incredible. And Cooper was
- 31:29Speaker 3: on stage at the Rayos pop up and playing with
- 31:34Speaker 3: the Barnstormers, which was the house band.
- 31:36Speaker 2: They were amazing.
- 31:38Speaker 1: They were to get into all the rails stuff. Ye
- 31:40Speaker 1: hear about Cooper because I work with him at Fox,
- 31:42Speaker 1: and I love the guy.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Archie coast to Peyton because Peyton wasn't there. He was
- 31:46Speaker 3: the only man not there. And Archie goes to Peyton.
- 31:49Speaker 3: He goes, you're idiot, brother, jumps on stage things, he
- 31:53Speaker 3: could play like four instruments and just took over the
- 31:56Speaker 3: whole party. And I'm like, uh, actually he played the
- 32:00Speaker 3: harmonica pretty damn well, pretty good. And he played the
- 32:04Speaker 3: washboard even though he had it on backwards, but he
- 32:06Speaker 3: was like old school wa washboard and singing. I mean
- 32:08Speaker 3: he really. I mean, look, I don't think it's any
- 32:12Speaker 3: secret that he's the most and the most talented Manning
- 32:16Speaker 3: on a personality side. Peyton might argue that, but but
- 32:20Speaker 3: he is Cooper Manning is the life of the party.
- 32:22Speaker 2: He really is. And it was incredible. I just thought
- 32:25Speaker 2: it was so funny.
- 32:26Speaker 3: How at the you know, at the start of this
- 32:28Speaker 3: lunch where the first one is there and he you know,
- 32:30Speaker 3: they've been there a little bit, and I walk in
- 32:33Speaker 3: and they start talking. You know, he's like, oh, it
- 32:35Speaker 3: brought him back to last night at REO's and and
- 32:38Speaker 3: they go through that story.
- 32:38Speaker 2: But yeah, the lunch is, the lunch is amazing.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I don't you know, I don't know what kind of
- 32:42Speaker 3: deals get done there, but I will guarantee you a lot.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Of deals get done there.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Casey and Michael do an incredible job of put of
- 32:49Speaker 3: of putting this room together.
- 32:51Speaker 2: You know, like I said, you have you know, Travis
- 32:53Speaker 2: Scott and.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Meek Mill sitting with Robert Kraft and and and Gail
- 32:58Speaker 3: King and and Sierra. It's an incredible table, right Like
- 33:02Speaker 3: then you look and you look over there's another table.
- 33:04Speaker 3: It's like Archie Manning and and Dean Spanos and and
- 33:09Speaker 3: you know it's it's it's pretty amazing.
- 33:12Speaker 2: So you know, that really kicks off the week for us.
- 33:14Speaker 1: On let me ask some questions from your side of this.
- 33:17Speaker 1: So is it? And like you know, I saw Burrow
- 33:20Speaker 1: was posting photos from there, and obviously there's photos of
- 33:23Speaker 1: Tom Brady and Peyton Manning there, like that's royalty from
- 33:26Speaker 1: the NFL. But you mentioned that the CEO of Horizons there.
- 33:29Speaker 1: You've got all these NFL owners there. You've also got
- 33:32Speaker 1: like Rich Kleinman in the NBA contingent there, you got
- 33:35Speaker 1: like the Rooks is there. So there's some media there.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Your role in this thing if it's not to promote it.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Are you helping with like the logistics making sure these
- 33:45Speaker 1: people are getting in Okay? Are they hitting you up NonStop?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Like Hey, I need to get into the lunch, Like
- 33:49Speaker 1: what's your role in that world? Because everyone shows up
- 33:52Speaker 1: and has a blast, But I know it takes a
- 33:54Speaker 1: month to set this thing up.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean listen, I as far as the lunch goes,
- 33:58Speaker 3: I mean, Michael has an incredible events team that puts
- 34:03Speaker 3: it together, and you know they're probably on a plane
- 34:07Speaker 3: next week to San Francisco to start to look for
- 34:09Speaker 3: the next VEX years.
- 34:11Speaker 2: You know.
- 34:12Speaker 3: In this particular case, it was done at Antoine's in
- 34:16Speaker 3: New Orleans, which I believe is the oldest restaurant in
- 34:19Speaker 3: New Orleans.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Like eighteen forty pictures.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Looked awesome too. It had this old school like warehouse
- 34:23Speaker 1: feel almost to it.
- 34:24Speaker 2: It's really really cool, really cool. So they do really
- 34:28Speaker 2: the bulk of the work.
- 34:28Speaker 3: My job really is to just make sure, you know,
- 34:31Speaker 3: inside like just kind of connect and make sure people
- 34:35Speaker 3: are good and kind of keep an eye on things
- 34:37Speaker 3: and make sure you know it's it's moving in the
- 34:41Speaker 3: right direction. But then also make sure we get the
- 34:43Speaker 3: right photos for what people want, right, Like you know,
- 34:46Speaker 3: it's to your point. You get you get Archie Manning,
- 34:51Speaker 3: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady in a photo together. It's pretty cool, right,
- 34:55Speaker 3: and then you get Robert Kraft and and Tom together
- 34:58Speaker 3: and you get you know, these these different these different
- 35:01Speaker 3: people from different whether it's the same walks of life
- 35:04Speaker 3: for different walks of life together to me is pretty amazing.
- 35:07Speaker 3: And like you said, you know, different years, it's different things.
- 35:09Speaker 3: It depends who's there, right, So there's sometimes is a
- 35:12Speaker 3: larger basketball contendency in Phoenix for example, like you could
- 35:16Speaker 3: have a Kevin Durant walk into the party because they
- 35:18Speaker 3: were in.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Phoenix, right.
- 35:19Speaker 3: So the New Orleans Pulicans were on the road this year,
- 35:22Speaker 3: so they weren't there. But so it just depends on
- 35:24Speaker 3: on who's in town and what's going on. But you know,
- 35:27Speaker 3: you know, you have the Friday before Super Bowl to
- 35:31Speaker 3: have Tom Brady, who's broadcast.
- 35:33Speaker 2: In the game, and as you know, the way he prepares.
- 35:35Speaker 1: For it, were and we were busy as with the Fox,
- 35:38Speaker 1: like we had everything.
- 35:40Speaker 3: You know, he came for about an hour and he
- 35:41Speaker 3: usually stays the entire time. You got to go right first,
- 35:45Speaker 3: you brought. He goes, I gotta go watch film. He goes,
- 35:46Speaker 3: I'm watching more film now than I was when I
- 35:49Speaker 3: was playing, because you really got to understand. But you
- 35:52Speaker 3: have Goodell there before the game. You have the owners
- 35:54Speaker 3: there before the game. You know Howie walks in before
- 35:58Speaker 3: the game. The Clark Kant was there. Like these guys
- 36:01Speaker 3: are during the biggest game of their life and they're there,
- 36:04Speaker 3: you know. So it shows obviously the respect for Michael,
- 36:07Speaker 3: but also what Michael and Casey can do to bring
- 36:09Speaker 3: these people together.
- 36:11Speaker 2: And again it's this.
- 36:11Speaker 3: This was the I guess the fifth year, and it
- 36:15Speaker 3: you know, every year it gets better and every year
- 36:17Speaker 3: it is to your point. Yeah, I get hit up
- 36:21Speaker 3: a lot for that lunch. That lunch is because you know,
- 36:25Speaker 3: I'm getting into that lunch. Michael does that all himself.
- 36:27Speaker 3: He he made he pulls him and Casey pull each
- 36:30Speaker 3: person in. That's how it works.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's personally from them because I am sure
- 36:34Speaker 1: there are people that are on the fringe who have
- 36:36Speaker 1: hit you up. And it's a very awkward conversation to
- 36:39Speaker 1: be like, guy, I don't I don't have any help here,
- 36:41Speaker 1: and also like this is really awkward. How do I
- 36:43Speaker 1: tell you, you're just not influential enough.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I'm being honest.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I literally don't even try. I mean, you can use
- 36:50Speaker 3: this and say for the next time, like, don't even
- 36:52Speaker 3: call me, Like I don't even make the call.
- 36:55Speaker 2: You know, listen, if it's.
- 36:58Speaker 3: You know, if it's the governor of you know, uh, Louisiana,
- 37:02Speaker 3: I'll make the call. There there is you know, if
- 37:04Speaker 3: it is Shack wouldn't have the problem anyway, he's been here.
- 37:08Speaker 3: But like I would make the call. But there's very
- 37:10Speaker 3: it's a very fine line. But those people that you
- 37:13Speaker 3: were talking about, they're talking to Michael and Casey every day.
- 37:15Speaker 2: They're in that crew.
- 37:17Speaker 3: And it's but that really kicks it off for me
- 37:21Speaker 3: and for the week, I think, because that's you know
- 37:23Speaker 3: a lot of people get in their Thursday Thursday night
- 37:25Speaker 3: and that's like the first big, big one, all right.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So then the bonanza is Saturday afternoon, and I am
- 37:31Speaker 1: not you know, I don't kiss heinie. It's my favorite
- 37:34Speaker 1: event of the Super Bowl when I can get there.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Last year I couldn't get there in Vegas. I had
- 37:38Speaker 1: work stuff. This year, I brought my wife. The fanatics
- 37:41Speaker 1: party of the Super Bowl. It is a treat. It
- 37:44Speaker 1: is a blast. I will tell you why. Everyone it's
- 37:47Speaker 1: a massive party, but it's also chill. Everyone's in their
- 37:53Speaker 1: casual clothes and you can wear t shirt and jeans
- 37:57Speaker 1: or you could wear a suit, whatever you want. And
- 37:59Speaker 1: inside in that inner circle it is the most influential
- 38:02Speaker 1: people in sports and media. But I like to hang
- 38:04Speaker 1: out in the outside and guess what a cool crowd
- 38:07Speaker 1: there as well. Take us into the fanatic Saturday party.
- 38:12Speaker 1: The booking of guests who performed, and this year's in particular.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look, I think Michael has created the ultimate,
- 38:23Speaker 2: the ultimate party. You can't pay to get in. People
- 38:26Speaker 2: try and pay to get in.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Hundreds of people have offered a hundred thousand dollars to
- 38:29Speaker 3: Michael to buy tables to it doesn't It doesn't work.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Again curated by Michael Invite only. It's not like these
- 38:36Speaker 3: other big parties. Not that there's anything wrong with those,
- 38:38Speaker 3: but there's those are paid to play and this is
- 38:40Speaker 3: you o to be invited. So even at twelve hundred people,
- 38:43Speaker 3: you know it is. It is a twelve hundred person
- 38:46Speaker 3: VIP list as as it can go.
- 38:48Speaker 2: This year in particular was it was amazing.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I mean it was perfect Ron, It's like it was amazing.
- 38:54Speaker 1: There's an inside and an outside. And if it's too
- 38:56Speaker 1: loud inside, which I'm an old man, like, you just
- 38:58Speaker 1: go outside. It was still great there.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was the space was great. Again,
- 39:02Speaker 3: Michael's events team did a great job because I was outside.
- 39:06Speaker 3: It's Chris Malone, Travis, Scott, meek Mill. I mean there
- 39:10Speaker 3: was there was ten performers. But you know, the the
- 39:13Speaker 3: performance at Michael's parties have become they but they literally
- 39:19Speaker 3: become music festivals. It's not we start with three performers
- 39:23Speaker 3: and we end up with twelve. I mean, it's it's
- 39:25Speaker 3: but again, that's such a it's such a great nod
- 39:29Speaker 3: to Michael and his relationships because a lot of these
- 39:32Speaker 3: people are just.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Jumping on right. They don't they just want to be
- 39:34Speaker 2: part of it, part of the event.
- 39:36Speaker 3: And and I mean, you know, Peter, because you've come
- 39:40Speaker 3: every you know, like you said, you didn't come last
- 39:41Speaker 3: year because it worked, but like most years, you're there,
- 39:43Speaker 3: you know, not to blow your spot up, but you
- 39:46Speaker 3: come with Paul Rudd, the biggest chief fan. You bring
- 39:49Speaker 3: you know, you bring, you bring some people in. It's
- 39:52Speaker 3: nobody bothers anyone in there. It's not like it's not
- 39:56Speaker 3: a fan you know, a fan fest kind of thing.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Like everyone's a mutual appreciation. That's what it is.
- 40:02Speaker 3: And and what I think Michael and the Fanatics team
- 40:05Speaker 3: do so well is they really great about activating their
- 40:07Speaker 3: brands inside.
- 40:08Speaker 2: So you can get your top one of one trading card.
- 40:11Speaker 3: You could spin a wheel for Fanatics bed and get
- 40:14Speaker 3: you know, some money on your account. You can you
- 40:17Speaker 3: can get a custom hat Lid's Hats, Like it's really
- 40:21Speaker 3: cool and not in an obnoxious way. The other thing is,
- 40:23Speaker 3: which I've always appreciated for what Michael and Fanatics have done.
- 40:26Speaker 2: It's not a branded party.
- 40:28Speaker 3: It's not sponsored by X and here's mony like that's
- 40:32Speaker 3: never what it's been about.
- 40:33Speaker 2: It's been about his brand and what they do.
- 40:36Speaker 3: And they own the day, right, I mean it's Saturday afternoon,
- 40:40Speaker 3: two to seven.
- 40:41Speaker 2: They own that day. By the time you're done with
- 40:44Speaker 2: that day, you're pretty exhausted, like you're good, like you
- 40:46Speaker 2: don't need to do anything.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I mean, I saw you at the Rails pop up
- 40:49Speaker 3: that night, like I was ready to go to bed,
- 40:50Speaker 3: like I're out of there.
- 40:51Speaker 2: I mean it was I was exhausted.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Let thet go through. Come of some of the funny conversations.
- 40:56Speaker 1: So like David Tepper's the owner of the Panthers. Usually
- 40:59Speaker 1: when I'm dealing with him, it's in a professional manner.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Here he is with Nicole, his lovely wife. He's in
- 41:03Speaker 1: a you know. And the actor David Brianis from the
- 41:07Speaker 1: show Bones is there and I'm talking to David bis
- 41:11Speaker 1: is an ego spind alright, And David Tepper comes over
- 41:13Speaker 1: and gives me a giant bear hug. And then I
- 41:15Speaker 1: introduced the two of them now and then from like
- 41:18Speaker 1: the corner comes over, you know, Joe Burrows there, so
- 41:22Speaker 1: he comes in. The conversation was me Joe Burrow, David Tepper,
- 41:25Speaker 1: and David borrianis the actor that doesn't happen anywhere else.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I'm sorry, it doesn't listen again, I Michael brings these
- 41:33Speaker 3: people together. There was a there was a photo I
- 41:35Speaker 3: saw that came across from one of the photographers in
- 41:37Speaker 3: the party. It was Burrow, Chase Odell, Beckham, Livy Dunn, like.
- 41:46Speaker 2: You know, you know, I'm probably I'm missing some but
- 41:49Speaker 2: there was like.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Justin Jefferson, they were all there, justin Jefferson Malik neighbors.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Like there was this this like LSU connection there that
- 41:59Speaker 2: was like, oh my god.
- 42:01Speaker 3: And by the way, what also was really cool was
- 42:03Speaker 3: the Paul Skins won on one card, which you probably
- 42:05Speaker 3: heard about where I've heard all out, Yeah it pulled.
- 42:07Speaker 2: It was on display there.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Paul never saw it, so we had it there because
- 42:11Speaker 3: the kid's gonna auction it, I believe, and uh, Livy
- 42:16Speaker 3: Dunn and Michael brought it on the carpet to Livy
- 42:19Speaker 3: and Paul to show it to him, and Paul trying
- 42:21Speaker 3: to put in his pocket and get out, but sure
- 42:23Speaker 3: want what do we do it? My god, this is
- 42:25Speaker 3: the like this is the one of one card. It
- 42:27Speaker 3: was really really cool. I mean, there's a lot of
- 42:29Speaker 3: great things there. You're you know, you had uh uh
- 42:33Speaker 3: Matt Lionard and Jerry Ferrara live on the carpet for
- 42:36Speaker 3: their podcast.
- 42:37Speaker 2: We should have your podcast live for the carpet. Let's
- 42:40Speaker 2: just let's just keep.
- 42:41Speaker 1: It popped in with those guys. I love liner.
- 42:43Speaker 3: And there was the card vault was ripping packs of
- 42:47Speaker 3: cards and one on one cards, and you had Robert
- 42:50Speaker 3: Craft opening cards, and you had post Malone opening cards
- 42:52Speaker 3: and Diplow opening cards. It was. It's just really like
- 42:55Speaker 3: a fun event, right And and again it's that room
- 42:59Speaker 3: you walk in and you see those conversations and you
- 43:01Speaker 3: see those people and you know it's like Pete Davidson
- 43:04Speaker 3: and Kevin Costner likes best friends over the weekend, Like
- 43:09Speaker 3: where does that come from?
- 43:10Speaker 2: You saw him at dinner at Rao's that night too.
- 43:12Speaker 3: They were together at dinner, but I don't think they've
- 43:14Speaker 3: I don't know if they've met, but they weren't, like
- 43:15Speaker 3: they didn't go to her together.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I'll give you more, give you more great because like
- 43:19Speaker 1: this is the stuff that listeners they can get their
- 43:22Speaker 1: football breakdowns from better people than me, but like to
- 43:24Speaker 1: be in the room and I don't. It's like brag
- 43:27Speaker 1: that I was in there. It's just really cool. Like
- 43:29Speaker 1: Paul Rudd and I were rolling together, and Jeffrey Ross,
- 43:32Speaker 1: the comedian, the roast Master, so he's with us. So
- 43:34Speaker 1: it's the three of us. And then Miles Teller comes
- 43:37Speaker 1: over and Paul knows Miles, I don't know. They were
- 43:40Speaker 1: they're in some fancy football together. So you've got this
- 43:42Speaker 1: great crew and I'm there obviously. And then Big Dom
- 43:47Speaker 1: or Dom had never met Paul Rudd. Paul Rudd never
- 43:49Speaker 1: met Dom. I'm introducing Dom to Paul Rudd, and it's like,
- 43:52Speaker 1: this is just think about the Venn diagram of just
- 43:54Speaker 1: like the world, and it's like that's that's where that's
- 43:57Speaker 1: und Dom is.
- 43:59Speaker 2: He's literally like the biggest celebrity there. He is.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I mean, everyone wants a picture.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Really funny with him.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Uh. There was a point I looked over and the
- 44:09Speaker 3: tempers were talking with Governor Shapiro from Pennsylvania.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Eli was in that mix.
- 44:15Speaker 3: And Dom walked over with Uh, he walked over with
- 44:20Speaker 3: Pete Davidson and Dave Yeah, and they and they came
- 44:24Speaker 3: up and they were he introduced him. You know, Nicole
- 44:26Speaker 3: grabs Dom. Nicole devergrab's Dom. She loves everybody loves Dom
- 44:30Speaker 3: and but he's like the glue and it's you know,
- 44:32Speaker 3: it's pretty awesome to see to see that, and but
- 44:34Speaker 3: to your point, it's like seeing all these people together
- 44:37Speaker 3: and look the inside of that party was so dynamic,
- 44:42Speaker 3: like who was there and who ends up talking to who,
- 44:45Speaker 3: and who ends up becoming friends with who is is
- 44:47Speaker 3: and or doing deals is pretty amazing. Like that to
- 44:50Speaker 3: me is like the most amazing part because everybody is
- 44:54Speaker 3: moving around.
- 44:54Speaker 2: I mean it's a you know, it's not that party
- 44:56Speaker 2: where you go you.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Sit in one vip a, everyone's looking at everybody, everybody's
- 45:01Speaker 3: at vi p and everybody's moving all in and around
- 45:04Speaker 3: the party. And then once the once the performances start,
- 45:07Speaker 3: which is about an hour and a half of you know,
- 45:09Speaker 3: music festival. You know that that Betty does a great
- 45:14Speaker 3: job of helping put together from the music.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Let's give her some love, Betty.
- 45:17Speaker 2: So you know there's a there's a great team of people.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Again, like I said, you have Florenca from Michael's team
- 45:23Speaker 3: who puts all the who puts all the the the
- 45:27Speaker 3: entire event together from the food, from the set up
- 45:30Speaker 3: to everything. And you have Betty does music, and you
- 45:33Speaker 3: have you know, Michael's got a whole team led by
- 45:36Speaker 3: you know, Jamie Solomon who puts together different things from Michael.
- 45:40Speaker 3: It's it really is uh when you know when people
- 45:43Speaker 3: say there's a team effort there. I mean, look, it
- 45:45Speaker 3: is not easy.
- 45:46Speaker 2: To put a party like I can't imagine.
- 45:48Speaker 3: It is not easy. There's a lot of planning. You
- 45:51Speaker 3: have to go find the right space, that space, I
- 45:53Speaker 3: mean we talked about a space. That space was the
- 45:55Speaker 3: best space in New Orleans.
- 45:56Speaker 1: It was incredible. It was in the middle of a
- 45:58Speaker 1: park and it was just like perfect giant warehouse that
- 46:02Speaker 1: was empty and it was convenient.
- 46:04Speaker 3: It was like and like I just thought, you know,
- 46:08Speaker 3: if you think about two weeks before it was a
- 46:11Speaker 3: blizzard in New.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Orleans, that's crazy.
- 46:13Speaker 3: It could have been you know, you just get lucky, right,
- 46:15Speaker 3: it could have been at you said it was outside
- 46:18Speaker 3: inside party, but it was open air, right, So like
- 46:21Speaker 3: you know, a lot of events I went to over
- 46:23Speaker 3: the weekend. It was hot, it was gross. It was
- 46:25Speaker 3: this pack you jammed in. You're in these little spaces.
- 46:27Speaker 3: That space could have held four thousand people and again
- 46:30Speaker 3: we only put twelve hundred in there.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, my wife, My wife was with man. She's
- 46:35Speaker 1: not like one of these, like you know, starstrucks. She's
- 46:37Speaker 1: not into that at all. She's sitting there and she
- 46:40Speaker 1: taps me on the should look behind you, and Shack
- 46:42Speaker 1: walks by, and my wife's four foot eleven shack walks by.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And then the conversation was cool because I've bring because
- 46:49Speaker 1: I was with Mike Turico, who's hobbling around on his
- 46:51Speaker 1: Achilles and his little scooter. For Mike, it's me, it's Turrico.
- 46:57Speaker 1: And then you know, overcomes Shack, Shack and Tarico of
- 47:00Speaker 1: a relationship, so it's does and then a cool contingent
- 47:03Speaker 1: of Bobby Wagner, Bryce Young Jaden Daniels get in the mix.
- 47:08Speaker 1: I'm like, again, now it's Wednesday.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Picture. He was in that one.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I'm sure he was in it. Annow, it's Wednesday, and
- 47:14Speaker 1: it's like, you know, it didn't met in the moment,
- 47:16Speaker 1: I'm just having a conversation with a bunch of guys.
- 47:18Speaker 1: But you know, in the now that it's Wednesday, I
- 47:20Speaker 1: look back, I'm like, that's the most ridiculous, Like roote
- 47:23Speaker 1: and like Bobby Wagner's talking to me about Walter Payton,
- 47:26Speaker 1: man of the ear Initiatives and how he wants to
- 47:27Speaker 1: advance it. And then Shack and Tarrico we're talking about
- 47:30Speaker 1: broadcasting because Rico's coming back to NBC, and Shack, of
- 47:33Speaker 1: course is with inside the NBA. And then you've got
- 47:35Speaker 1: Jayden Daniels, who's the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year,
- 47:39Speaker 1: and through my relationship with Cliff like he knows who
- 47:41Speaker 1: I am. So we're talking very cool. My coolest moment
- 47:53Speaker 1: though from me. My son listens to Shahboozy all day long,
- 48:00Speaker 1: all night long, love Shaboozy.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Now.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I have a podcast with iHeart that we're doing this
- 48:04Speaker 1: on and they had the iHeart you know the Christmas
- 48:08Speaker 1: concert Jason, what's it called jingle Ball? And through my asks,
- 48:13Speaker 1: I get two great tickets to jingle Ball or three
- 48:15Speaker 1: great tickets. IM gonna tak my wife and my son
- 48:16Speaker 1: and Ron bear with me on this story. It's long,
- 48:18Speaker 1: but do you like where it goes? And my son
- 48:21Speaker 1: doesn't give a crap about Meghan Trainer or Katy Perry.
- 48:25Speaker 1: It is to see Chaboozy. He wants to see Shaboozi.
- 48:28Speaker 1: He's eight years old. This is gonna be everything. My
- 48:30Speaker 1: wife's like, we gotta do this. The day of my
- 48:33Speaker 1: wife is like deathly ill my son. It's the middle
- 48:36Speaker 1: of December, and like I have to call the iHeart guys.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm sorry, I can't go. Feel terrible table
- 48:40Speaker 1: to my legs. Sure enough, we're at your party. We're
- 48:43Speaker 1: at the Fanatics party. My wife and I are talking
- 48:46Speaker 1: and as it's like Chris Johnson, the owner of the Jets,
- 48:49Speaker 1: his wife Doris, it's my wife, it's me and the
- 48:52Speaker 1: four of us. And then as we're talking, incomes Shaboozie
- 48:55Speaker 1: just walks right behind us. And I didn't stop him,
- 48:58Speaker 1: didn't do anything. He stops for a second. He's having
- 49:00Speaker 1: a conversation and I got a picture of my wife
- 49:02Speaker 1: just smiling in front of Shaboozi. We show it to
- 49:04Speaker 1: our son. It's the greatest moment in the world. That's
- 49:07Speaker 1: what I wanted. That is it. I don't want to
- 49:08Speaker 1: talk to him, don't want to bother him. Busy guy
- 49:10Speaker 1: could could not have been cooler.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Shaboozi definitely had a good time. You know, it's funny.
- 49:14Speaker 3: When he was leaving on the carpet, Michael has a
- 49:19Speaker 3: like a huge trading card on the red carpet. The
- 49:23Speaker 3: carpet was actually blue, so we'll call it the blue carpet.
- 49:25Speaker 3: On the blue carpet, and everybody that walks the carpet
- 49:29Speaker 3: signs it. And I guess Shaboozie he didn't. I don't
- 49:32Speaker 3: think he walked the carpet. I think he just popped in.
- 49:34Speaker 3: He walked around the tent, and so when he was leaving,
- 49:37Speaker 3: he wanted to sign it, so he came back in.
- 49:38Speaker 3: He ripped a couple of cards because I was right
- 49:40Speaker 3: near that, and then signed the thing and he was like,
- 49:43Speaker 3: you know, of course I want to sign this thing.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Where's the bullpen? And you know it's it's it's pretty cool.
- 49:48Speaker 2: You know. One thing on Shack.
- 49:50Speaker 3: You know, Shock comes to all the events, all the
- 49:53Speaker 3: Fanatics events usually, and he was in a phenomenal mood
- 49:57Speaker 3: on Saturday.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Was he not the life of the party. He was
- 50:00Speaker 1: so friendly.
- 50:01Speaker 3: And he I'm going to tell you he did our
- 50:03Speaker 3: carpet for about thirty minutes and that never happens. Not
- 50:07Speaker 3: anything against him, right, he just like because sometimes he's
- 50:09Speaker 3: like you know what, you know, I just want to
- 50:10Speaker 3: go in and have fun and do what I gotta do.
- 50:13Speaker 3: He was out on the carpet talking to everybody and
- 50:15Speaker 3: we were all like, whoa, all right, Shack, let's go
- 50:17Speaker 3: because look, everybody wants to talk to Shack. It was
- 50:20Speaker 3: the night, you know, that was the day after his
- 50:22Speaker 3: Shock Fun Outs party. He must have thrown a great party.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Because he was at a phenomenal, great mood. All right, so
- 50:26Speaker 1: that's the Fanatics party. What how's that end? I've never
- 50:29Speaker 1: been there for the end, Like does a music to
- 50:31Speaker 1: shut down and they like to close the tent. I
- 50:33Speaker 1: feel like I could have gone on for three.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Days, if you know, listen, we always extend it. Michael
- 50:38Speaker 3: always extends it a little bit because.
- 50:40Speaker 1: That's gotta cost millions of dollars to extend, because you're
- 50:42Speaker 1: dealing with city ordinances and permits.
- 50:44Speaker 3: Define it is definitely not cheap, probably, And what happens
- 50:47Speaker 3: is it's the musicians right, because they keep popping on.
- 50:51Speaker 3: So the party gets longer again because it's you know,
- 50:54Speaker 3: it's it's it's fun. Everyone wants to keep going. So yeah,
- 50:57Speaker 3: it ended this year about I think about seven thirty
- 51:00Speaker 3: maybe seven forty five. It was supposed to was two
- 51:02Speaker 3: to six, so it went an hour and a half later.
- 51:05Speaker 3: I think that's that's probably pretty good. I think last
- 51:08Speaker 3: year a went two hours later in Vegas. But every
- 51:10Speaker 3: you know, everything's alonger in Vegas. Yeah, I mean it's
- 51:13Speaker 3: like you almost have to get people out right at
- 51:15Speaker 3: some point you do got to end the party.
- 51:16Speaker 2: There's other things that go on that night.
- 51:19Speaker 3: You know, there's people have dinners and they have events
- 51:21Speaker 3: and they have you know, different things that they need
- 51:23Speaker 3: to do.
- 51:23Speaker 2: So you know, you got to but people would they
- 51:26Speaker 2: stay there all night? Yeah, of course they stay there
- 51:28Speaker 2: all night? Why not?
- 51:29Speaker 3: You know, you know, all right, the boos are flowing,
- 51:31Speaker 3: the foods out there, you know, it's it's it's great.
- 51:34Speaker 1: I would say that that would be enough for a week.
- 51:36Speaker 1: But you also had something going on the entire week.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Now for the for the listeners at home, you have
- 51:40Speaker 1: to understand every minute in New Orleans, at every bar,
- 51:44Speaker 1: every casin, there's something going on. There is a party
- 51:47Speaker 1: sponsored by DraftKings, there's a party by FanDuel Direct TV. Serious, iHeart,
- 51:52Speaker 1: everyone's got something, and you know it's You can get
- 51:55Speaker 1: into these parties because there's so many of them that
- 51:58Speaker 1: there's access. If you want to pop in, you can.
- 52:01Speaker 1: The one constant starting on Monday night or Tuesday night
- 52:06Speaker 1: at the Super Bowl was this pop up event that
- 52:09Speaker 1: was a collaboration between the famous Italian restaurant and East
- 52:14Speaker 1: Harlem REO's, and then the really trendy pizza place that's
- 52:18Speaker 1: in Williamsburg called Feenie. So you have REOs, which is
- 52:22Speaker 1: like old school Italian, you know, the sauce and everything,
- 52:24Speaker 1: and then you've got Feenie, which is Sean Feeney's company.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Sean great dude who has a cool story in himself,
- 52:31Speaker 1: is a finance guy who left started two restaurants that
- 52:33Speaker 1: opens this like sensational pizza place. They have this thing,
- 52:37Speaker 1: but it's also like a curated situation where there are
- 52:40Speaker 1: certain people at each night and there's certain tables that
- 52:44Speaker 1: are accounted for, and it's a party. You walk in
- 52:47Speaker 1: and there's run DMC's performing, and I got to go
- 52:50Speaker 1: both Tuesday and Saturday night. I saw run DMC one night,
- 52:54Speaker 1: and I saw the amazing Barnstormers, this awesome cover band
- 52:57Speaker 1: another night. And when I was there, Chris Collinsworth and
- 53:00Speaker 1: Mike Tarico are singing like come on Eileen on a
- 53:02Speaker 1: stage like it was that good, so absolute party. But
- 53:05Speaker 1: you're involved with that as well.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's listen, that's my favorite, you know,
- 53:11Speaker 3: dinner portion of the of the evening right, Like I
- 53:13Speaker 3: can go there every night and it's just like you said,
- 53:16Speaker 3: it's just a great room. It's very chill, invite only
- 53:20Speaker 3: also really can't buy your way in there. Kenny Dicktor
- 53:24Speaker 3: and Frank Pilagrina Junior and Ron Stars, they they put
- 53:27Speaker 3: it together the owners of REOs and Kenny puts it together.
- 53:31Speaker 3: They've been doing it. I think this is the sixth
- 53:33Speaker 3: year from Miami was the first year. This year they
- 53:37Speaker 3: took it to another level. The addition of Feene was incredible.
- 53:42Speaker 3: But what an awesome, awesome addition, like this little slice
- 53:45Speaker 3: shop right off the side of the restaurant that was
- 53:47Speaker 3: open all day, all night. So Sean did it, like
- 53:49Speaker 3: you said, he did a great job. And in that
- 53:52Speaker 3: slice shop they had DJ well, they had good Man Brands,
- 53:56Speaker 3: which was Russell Wilson, so you could you know, they
- 54:01Speaker 3: were gifting shoes to some some VIPs and then they
- 54:04Speaker 3: were and then they were selling shoes out of there
- 54:06Speaker 3: to people that wanted them, which was really cool. So
- 54:09Speaker 3: on you know, on Thursday night, Russ and Sierra were
- 54:11Speaker 3: in there and they were they were doing some stuff.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Eli Eli told me he they threw him out on
- 54:17Speaker 3: Thursday night at like three, they go, we gotta close,
- 54:22Speaker 3: like you gotta go. Literally he shut the place down
- 54:24Speaker 3: on Thursday. It was just really cool to see that
- 54:27Speaker 3: the two of the two of those brands, like you said,
- 54:30Speaker 3: this like old school Raos, the you know, oldest family
- 54:33Speaker 3: run restaurant in the world basically, And and and Fienie.
- 54:37Speaker 3: This new hip, cool Brooklyn pizza shop and and putting
- 54:40Speaker 3: them together.
- 54:42Speaker 2: It was really cool.
- 54:42Speaker 3: But to your point, inside that Rao's party every night,
- 54:46Speaker 3: that Rayo's dinner was also another Who's who was there?
- 54:50Speaker 3: I mean it was, it was It was pretty awesome.
- 54:52Speaker 3: You you know, you see you know, top executives of
- 54:56Speaker 3: you know, the top top to to the top athletes.
- 54:59Speaker 2: You know.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Well, I was there Tuesday night and it's you know,
- 55:02Speaker 1: Roger Goodell's at the table with Jane and I sat
- 55:05Speaker 1: with them and we added for a while. And that's like, okay,
- 55:08Speaker 1: You've got that on one end of the spectrum. And
- 55:10Speaker 1: then on Saturday night you said Pete Davidson, but like
- 55:14Speaker 1: I've got Ryan Fitzpatrick, you know, running around introducing himself
- 55:17Speaker 1: to the CEO of like Clover, you know, like these
- 55:20Speaker 1: major companies and it's like an interesting room.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you have and then like you said,
- 55:24Speaker 3: you have you know darw from run DMC performing to this.
- 55:29Speaker 3: I mean we didn't even talk about like I think
- 55:31Speaker 3: it was Friday night was Belichick and his girlfriend. I mean,
- 55:35Speaker 3: she was she was party. Listen that girl. She definitely
- 55:39Speaker 3: is having fun. She's having a moment. She literally she
- 55:44Speaker 3: walked into the party. I think it was like one
- 55:46Speaker 3: of those like like like DMC was on the was
- 55:49Speaker 3: on the you know, was playing and it was like
- 55:51Speaker 3: the record skips.
- 55:52Speaker 2: It was like everyone just like you know, it's like,
- 55:55Speaker 2: oh okay, but she had you know, she was there.
- 55:58Speaker 3: But Bill was there that you know, he did the
- 56:00Speaker 3: they do this ceremonial first meet ball and they kind
- 56:03Speaker 3: of get up there, go up on stage and builded
- 56:06Speaker 3: the meet all that night. Uh, you know Friday, Thursday
- 56:10Speaker 3: night it was Eli and Cooper did the meat ball,
- 56:14Speaker 3: you know, Nurday.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Night that night I was there.
- 56:15Speaker 2: It was Joe Montana, right, Joe Montana. So it's you know,
- 56:19Speaker 2: Raos is a special, special place.
- 56:21Speaker 3: And what's great for the super Bowl is that Look,
- 56:25Speaker 3: most people ninety nine percent of the world, probably ninety
- 56:28Speaker 3: nine point nine percent of the world cannot get into
- 56:30Speaker 3: Rayos in East Harlem, which is the mecca.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Right, But have you been? Have you been been?
- 56:35Speaker 2: I have been.
- 56:36Speaker 1: It's what's because I've been once and I had a tent.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I would love to go back. It was a I
- 56:43Speaker 1: went with Robert Sala and a gentleman named David Edelstein,
- 56:47Speaker 1: who is like a real estate guy in New York
- 56:49Speaker 1: who had become very close with then he came on
- 56:51Speaker 1: our show and talked about the jets this year because
- 56:53Speaker 1: I think David's hilarious. We went and Dino was there,
- 56:57Speaker 1: who is part of the management, in the in the
- 56:59Speaker 1: group behind the kitchen. Like, we had an amazing night.
- 57:02Speaker 1: But I was told, like, you'll get to do this
- 57:04Speaker 1: maybe once every ten years because every table at Raos
- 57:07Speaker 1: is bought already for and you need to just be
- 57:09Speaker 1: either invited or win it in like an auction at
- 57:12Speaker 1: like a charity event. The only way to get in.
- 57:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and listen.
- 57:15Speaker 3: But that's why I love these pop ups because you
- 57:18Speaker 3: know what, is there one hundred and fifty people that
- 57:20Speaker 3: get to experience that and it's look, it's obviously a
- 57:23Speaker 3: lot of different Rayos in New York is very small.
- 57:25Speaker 3: There's you know, there's forty people in there at one time.
- 57:28Speaker 1: Oh didle holding court right right?
- 57:31Speaker 3: And you know you're the kitchen is you know you
- 57:34Speaker 3: you see the Dino's in the kitchen. It's this big.
- 57:36Speaker 3: It's like, you know, it's super tight, but you get,
- 57:39Speaker 3: you know, you get the whole. You do get the
- 57:40Speaker 3: Rayos experience in there.
- 57:41Speaker 2: The singing.
- 57:42Speaker 3: You know, Frank pel Green bringing a senior Frank pelgrin
- 57:46Speaker 3: a junior's debt. Father since past used to get on
- 57:49Speaker 3: the mic and sing with the jukebox.
- 57:52Speaker 1: So you get it.
- 57:53Speaker 3: You kind of get that feel in the super Bowl
- 57:55Speaker 3: with the band and and people singing and having fun
- 57:58Speaker 3: and and but it's you know.
- 58:01Speaker 2: To me, it's like that family.
- 58:02Speaker 3: It feels like family in there, And it doesn't matter
- 58:04Speaker 3: how many people are in there, because you know, after room,
- 58:07Speaker 3: you know you were there, you knew half the room.
- 58:08Speaker 2: I was there, I knew halfter room. Everybody's talking and
- 58:11Speaker 2: by the end of the night, everybody knows everybody.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I was talking to some guy from San Antonio, Texas
- 58:17Speaker 1: who works for a bank. He was sitting next to me.
- 58:18Speaker 1: We were laughing and singing and we were arm in
- 58:20Speaker 1: arms Againstweet Caroline but in the night.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Right, And that's but that's what Raos is.
- 58:24Speaker 3: And I think what's great about the pop ups, you
- 58:26Speaker 3: know that they do and they do it at the
- 58:28Speaker 3: Masters as well for a couple of nights, which is
- 58:29Speaker 3: even probably more you know, a lot more condensed, but
- 58:33Speaker 3: also a lot tougher to get into. But the idea
- 58:36Speaker 3: is like you're in this room, you're eating great food,
- 58:40Speaker 3: you're you're talking to really great people, and you're seeing
- 58:43Speaker 3: this thing that's going on, and.
- 58:44Speaker 2: It's there's like zero stress in that room, right Like yeah,
- 58:47Speaker 2: everywhere else in super Bowl to get it, it's get in.
- 58:50Speaker 2: It's extremely stressful. I can't hear you.
- 58:53Speaker 1: The music's too loud. I don't want to lose my voice.
- 58:55Speaker 1: I got to be on TV tomorrow like that. That's
- 58:57Speaker 1: what I'm fear for. Data.
- 58:58Speaker 3: You know, they do a great job, but they bring
- 58:59Speaker 3: it to a lot of people, which you can't you
- 59:02Speaker 3: just physically can't do it in Harlem because the place
- 59:05Speaker 3: is so small. And like you said that, people own
- 59:07Speaker 3: the table. So you're getting in. If you're going to dinner,
- 59:10Speaker 3: someone's giving you the reservation, they're giving you their table,
- 59:12Speaker 3: or they're inviting you.
- 59:14Speaker 2: And that's the only way in the place.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Okay, So amazing events all around. It's Sunday night, Monday morning, whatever.
- 59:22Speaker 1: How do you reflect it was a win for you
- 59:24Speaker 1: and your company and that you guys did a good job.
- 59:26Speaker 1: What is the goal and what's the output? Is it
- 59:29Speaker 1: media placement? Is it TMZ and page six or is
- 59:32Speaker 1: it Instagram activity? Or is it just gosh, everyone had
- 59:36Speaker 1: a blast and it's just a positive halo of like
- 59:38Speaker 1: I had a blast and I'll talk about it and
- 59:39Speaker 1: have no problem going anywhere and telling me about my experience.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Well, it's a little bit of both.
- 59:43Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, our our main job for the bigger
- 59:46Speaker 3: events is to is to get pressed, right, I mean,
- 59:48Speaker 3: that's our that's our job.
- 59:50Speaker 2: So yeah, the page six of the World, you know
- 59:53Speaker 2: Ian More.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Really there's a glowing article, was it Tuesday's page six?
- 59:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we you know in take you know,
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: does very well by us. But you know we're giving
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: him and that and that publication really great stuff. You know,
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: TMZ and Vogue and the New York Times and UH
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Entertainment Tonight and Good Morning America and the NFL Network
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: and all these places at Fox. Was that you know,
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: everybody come that comes to that carpet, we you know,
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: we got to get them.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: We have to help.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: We're kind of like the maestro of that, Like how
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: do we get these celebrities to you so you can
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: get them on. You know, Jameis Winston was on the carpet,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: by the way, my new favorite person on it.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: I mean, and I said today on Good Morning Football.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Who won the Super Bowl week more Jalen Hurts or
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Jamis Winston.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Let me tell you something I told him. I said, Look,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: this is just from a straight publicity, so.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: I'd like, you can go play if you want and
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: get your ass beat somewhere and get up on Monday
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: and be hurt.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: But you are built and made for TV. My man, like,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: you are that good. And he was amazing all week.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I mean, and he's authentic John. I've known him. I've
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: known him fifteen years. He's authentic as it comes. He's
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: the real deal. And he is a sweetheart.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: Hey, I told him, I literally I said, I go,
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: you know, you're a Miami fan into a noll.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: I go this It's hard for me to say, but
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: you are amazing. But he really was.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: I mean, he really did win the week and and
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: but you know, that's what the carpet looks like. So
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: for us, you know, the measure of victory is that
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: people have a good time, people talk about it.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: I got so many texts after, like from a from
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: a PR side and the work side of like from journalists,
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: you know, from people in the carpet that was like
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: you guys ran a great carpet. You guys did a
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: great job. Thank you for doing this. Look at our
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: piece how great it is.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Because of you guys.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: So my team, you know, did a did a great
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: job on the carpet, and and and and doing that
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: stuff and getting getting the word out there all week.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: I mean we have, you know, thank God that we
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: have such a great team of people at Burke Communications
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: that get get you know, the word out there, but
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: bust their ass all week. They're there from Monday this Sunday.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: And we don't sit down to your point, people come
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: through Bill have fun. We don't really have a lot
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: of fun work. We're working our ass off, just like you.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: I mean, you reflect on it and it's cool. Like
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: I was watching you Sunday night after the game and
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: grabbing like you said, grabbing Miles and grabbing Bradley Cooper,
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: like you're working your ass off, but like after the
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: fact you're looking for that's really cool, Like that's I'll
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: never forget it, you know, that's great. And and you're right,
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: I heard you say the Miles the Miles interview was amazing, Right,
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: it was amazing, And.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Isn't he But isn't he I mean you've done. He
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: goes to all the Michael Rubens like amazing.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: And that's the that's the beauty of it.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Like we just want to we all just want to
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: be around good people. Right, It's not you know, look,
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: some people get starstrucks, some people get this, but like
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: for us, like we're in this business, it's not something
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: that we it doesn't affect me. Right at the end
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: of the day, Like I look at it and go,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: this is my job. I got to get Miles to
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: where he wants to be, right, and so do you
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: and get him, you know, sitting with the right people
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: where he wants to sit with, or make sure he's
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: he's good and having fun. And then and then make
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: sure that the world knows about it, right like in
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: in you know, the fanatics party, the lunch.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: That's not our that's not what we do.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: But Rayos, we want people to know what's going on. Listen,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: it's it's our job for people to understand what RAOS is. Right,
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: because now there's a Raos in Miami that people can
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: go to. You can make a reservation, you can go there.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: It's is it different than Harlem, It's a different experience
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: than Harlem only because you can't get into Harlem. But
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: once you're inside, it's the same food. You know, Dino Gatto,
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: the chef is there, Frankie and Ron are there from time.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: It's who doesn't want to be in Miami in the
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: winter anyway from New York, So go there and have
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: But that's our job is to get people to know like,
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: oh I can do that, not just buy the sauce
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: in your supermarket, right, but which people do, but that
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: you can still go there, you can try it, you
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: can be part of it. So you know, yeah, that's
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: the measure of success for us, just to make sure
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: people had a good time.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: People see it, and you know, we're we're already you know,
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: we'll start playing in San Francisco in a couple of weeks,
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: which is amazing.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: My last question for you, so I've called you a cane.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I've said you're the biggest Miami fan I know, like
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: your real deal, Like if they come to the Crudential Center,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: you're making the trip to Jersey, if they if they're
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: doing a basketball game at the Garden, I see, I
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: know it. And football it's even a different level. Make
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the case for cam Ward as the first quarterback off
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: the board.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Look, I know Miami football inside and out.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: I've seen everybody that's come through that program over the
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: last thirty five years.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: Cam Cam is just different man.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: He you know.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: I had the chance to meet him a couple of
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: times this year. You know, Mario, I'm very close with
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Mario crystal Ball the coach. In July, Mario told me
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: he was up up here and we met and he
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: told me Cam is going to is going to change
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: the game for our program.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay, yeah, yeah, what does that mean?
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: And the minute you saw Cam take the field, he
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: was just a different breed that's been there. He is
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: an alpha. He is super confident. I think he is.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: I really do believe he is.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: I think some people say, oh, these aren't the same
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: types of quarterbacks. I don't know.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I think he could be very Jaden Daniels like. I
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: think he has a great arm. I think he's big.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: I think command an offense. You know, I'm a Giants fan.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: I hope he slips to the Giants at three. I
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: don't know if that's gonna happen, but I will say,
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: if you want somebody in your locker room. That will
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: literally from day one, command the respect and attention that
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: you need to command and and do that.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Cam Whart's the guy.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: I mean, that guy had no problem if you watched
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: all year, go on interviews and say you're going to
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: keep us out of the playoffs. I'm the best quarterback
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: in the country, We're the best offense in the country.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: That to me is old school Miami.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: That's how mine is Johnson Miami.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Like the only shame of.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: It is that we didn't have him for more than
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: one year in Miami. Yeah, but that was the eighties.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: That was Michael Irvin, that was Russell Maryland, that was
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Cortez Kennedy, that was the that was the Kenes of
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: the eighties and nineties. And that's why they want right
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: because of that bravado. And you walked in there to
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: the Orange Bowl, you knew you were gonna get your
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: ass cakes before the game started, just because those guys
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: were on the sideline and you were scared.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: That was Camp this year.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Now, it was unfortunate if we didn't have a defense
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: that could stop anybody, but you know, you knew Camp
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: could put up forty or fifty points every game. And
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: that's what he did. And I think I think he's
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: a phenomenal quarterback. I think he's going to be very
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: good for someone. I think whoever gets him is really
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: getting just a great person at personality and a great person.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: So I love him. I think, listen, I think this
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: draft is actually stronger than people think.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Well, it's very good at certain positions defensive end, defensive tackle,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: tight end, running back, but the quarterback is the position
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: that people are not sure about. So we're see, you know,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: it goes every year in the draft. I do the quarterback.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: I think a guy like Jackson Dart is sitting there,
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: He's gonna take him. He could be a good pro.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: I think this draft is deeper. You know, why can't
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: you find bon Nicks, a bone Nicks in the you know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: in the Jackson Dart right. I mean, look, no doubt,
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: you do not need to find a quarterback at one
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: and two only. So I do think there's there's some
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: good quarterbacks that they're but you know, obviously maybe I'm
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: a little biased. I do think Cam's the best one,
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: and I think Camp's gonna have a lot of fun
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: in this league.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I worked with her for years at the NFL Network,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: and I still see him all the time. I think
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: of him as like the faith of Miami football. Who's
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: the guy the legend that you see that you still
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: get starstruck over.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: I mean I don't really get starstruck per se, but
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: I love to see, Like you said, Michael Irvin to me,
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: is he is Miami right? Like this year, I went
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: to a bunch of games because it was fun and
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: I wanted to go down. I brought my son down,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: I brought a bunch of friends down. You know, you
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: know Mike was he was. I mean, very'svolved by the
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: way every game, Yeah, designing shirts, wearing wearing new you know,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: putting shirts on sale and designing shirts. You know, this year,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: I thought seeing that back was really good. Edrin James
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: and Clinton Portis and Michael Irvin and Lamar Thomas and
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: these old school guys being there on the sidelines, which
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: is what again, if you watch those thirty for thirties,
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: that's what Miami football was.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: It needs to be that. I think Mario Christopal was.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: You know, Mario is a two time champion for Miami,
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: so he knows what it's like and and so getting
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: those guys back but I always yeah, I mean, I
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: listen to me. Michael Irvin is the he is the
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: ultimate Miami guy. Right, So you talk about bleeding orange green,
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: that guy bleeds orange and green. He is as passionate
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: as you've ever seen. Go go rule Michael Irvin in Miami,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: and you'll see like speeches that are just in your mind.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: But I mean, look, Edy ray Lewis, these are all like,
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: these are all legends of the game. So for us,
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: you mean, like not only they for me is it
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: like Miami guys, but they're just like the best their
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: positioning ever, right, And that's why I hope and I say,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: I actually asked this to Peyton Manning.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: I said, Peyton, how the hell is Reggie went on
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: in the Hall of Fame?
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Yet, by the way, another Louisiana guy, a Miami guy,
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: How's he not incredible?
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: But there's just.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: So many guys that when you watch them come through,
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: and you know, I think maybe eventually, like you might
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: see that through Alabama the way they dominated and there
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: guys start to pop through, but all over the different Right,
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: the one thing that's different is that these Miami guys
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: not only dominate the league, but they're you know, they're
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: all most of them are Hall of Famers, which is
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: pretty amazing.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, pretty due. This was great. Hey, I appreciate you,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Ron Burke with where can we where can we find
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Burke Communications if we want to find our great publicity

- 1:09:53Speaker 3: An absolute blast, dude, absolutely all right, Pete, thank you man,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: appreciate it you And.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: That's a blast. That's Ron Burke. With that guy. You
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: want to talk about someone who's like in the room
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: where it happens, it's Ron and he's such like a
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: he doesn't make it about him, so like you rarely
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: see him and then like you see him in the
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: corner of your eye, it's like, Oh, there's jay Z
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: and Beyonce talking to you know, Lamar Jackson. Oh, and
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: there's Ron behind them. So great dude known him for
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: years and I think he does a fantastic job. And
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I've been so lucky to get to know him that.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Through Ron and through some other connections, I've been able
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: to go to that Michael Rubin party a Super Bowl
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: week every year and it's been really cool. The fanatics, guys,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: All right now for our sponsors, and it is time
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: for delivering Results presented by Uber Eats, and I want
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: to discuss a person that delivered last week. And of
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: course we can go Jaden Daniels, or we can go
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: as he has accepted his Offensive Rookie of the Year,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: or do we go super Bowl? We could talk about,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: you know what a great performance Jalen Hurts had or
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: or Cooper Dejean. The winner Peter Schaker's delivering results presented
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: by our sponsors at Uber Eats is the artist jelly Roll. Yes,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: jelly Roll. Friday night, my wife and I left the
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Commissioner's party in a suit and a ball gown that
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: you would wear to a gala, and we went to
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans, where we had a
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: two tickets to see a concert Jelly Roll and Chris Stapleton.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: Not only did we go to Jelly Roll, but we
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: went right into the middle of the moshpit. And my
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: beautiful friend that I'm here with now and producer slash
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: representative from iHeart, Jason English, was in the house. Jason
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: had never met my wife. Jason had never been to
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: a Jelly Roll concert before. See Jason in the crowd,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: give him a big old hug, bring them over. And
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: then Jelly Roll proceeded to have an hour long set
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: that I think owned and tore the house down in
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: New Orleans. Played his hits Somebody Save Me, you know
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I need a favor, all the hits that you know
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: from jelly over the years, and some of his new
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: stuff just fantastic. But he also did covers, did covers
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: of Green Day, Time of My Life, He did Eminem,
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: what was the Eminem song from eight mile? Lose Yourself?
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: He did Boys in the Hood? Did that? What else
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: did he play? Biz Marquis you say She's just a friend?
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Did a million covers and what's cool is I'm in
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: the mosh pit and I get a video the next
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: day from my buddy Spoon. Now Spoon is a producer
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: of the Amazon pregame show Get a video on my phone.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: It's me singing every word to some song from Jelly Row.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: I know every song. I've seen him five times now.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: I love Jelly Roll. And the people that Spoon were
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: with was Jared Goff, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kyle Hughscheck, George Kittle,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence, and then John Hamm who was having the
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: party of his life up there in the balcony, just
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: loving Jelly Roll. They were all up in the in
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the balconies. I would call them like the the Abe
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Lincoln seats because of like, that's how the theater was.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: But that's pretty morbid. Nothing like that happened at the
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Jelly Roll concert and Jelly was addressing the crowd. Jelly
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: was addressing them. Jelly was amazing. He was doing it
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: in a Titans leather jacket with his drummer, who I
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: just I absolutely love his energy. His drummer wearing a
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: number ten Titans jersey and I'm like, oh, he's wearing
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: a Vince Young jersey. They turned around it was a
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins ten. I'm like, all right, not as cool,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: but I still like it. It's still a Titans jersey
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: number ten. That is that is who delivered. It was
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: one of the greatest concerts. It was only an hour.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: It was perfect. We dipped out. Chris Stapleton then performed
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: I saw Stapleton the night before. Unbelievable vocals. Maybe the
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: best living country singer alive. That was delivering results presented
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: by Uber Eats, where you can get the best deals
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: on game day food all season long. It's the official
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: on demand delivery partner of the NFL. Order Now, all right, guys,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: gonna go get some hot tea. I'm gonna go rest
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: my vocals. I'm off next week. Thank god. I will
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: see you at the combine. Hopefully I'll do a combine podcast,
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: will be in Indianapolis all that week, and then we'll
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: keep on rolling. Congratulations to the Eagles, Thank you to
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: our guest Ron Berkowitz, and thank you to you guys
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: for listening all season wrong. Hope you enjoyed this rather
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: different Super Bowl recap. The Season with Peter Schrager is
