  SPEAKER_02: Um, I was telling our AD Matt Garrison, truthfully, man, I feel like we pulled up short, man.

  SPEAKER_02: We got some talent.

  SPEAKER_02: A lot of people didn't know how much talent we have because it was young.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, there's some things that we're working on as a as a coaching staff to get a little bit better.

  SPEAKER_02: We were happy going 10-0, but you guys heard me say it first here.

  SPEAKER_02: You know, the goal was to win CIF and win a small school state championship.

  SPEAKER_02: We can't we can't control what, you know, we were thinking Division 14, they put us in D12, but we still had the ability to compete.

  SPEAKER_02: We pull a a tough, a tough one in a Royal Valley, you know.

  SPEAKER_02: You know, they they had some big boys come off on the ball.

  SPEAKER_01: So that was our crypto night last year, but our boys have been in the weight room getting after it this year, so we're excited.

  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I always say that unless you win the whole thing, you're gonna be decided, you know, a little bit of disappointment at the end of the season.

  SPEAKER_00: But I thought it was a fantastic season, 10-0.

  SPEAKER_00: Um, it it was it was kind of historic, right?

  SPEAKER_00: I mean, you guys just beat everyone they put in front of you.

  SPEAKER_04: But not only did you have one of the best regular seasons in the valley, I mean, your team is really young.

  SPEAKER_04: I mean, you got you guys are built on sophomores and freshmen.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, only have five, five seniors last year.

  SPEAKER_02: You guys understand that Dan Armstrong was my high school coach, right?

  SPEAKER_02: Uh Henry uh Hodges is our O-line coach, uh, Rob Gonzalez, who's at CV, he's our running back coach, but he's also our strength coach.

  SPEAKER_02: So the guys get in the weight room, man.

  SPEAKER_02: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 5.15 in the morning.

  SPEAKER_02: They're in there getting after it.

  SPEAKER_02: Then we have linemen leak the way, we have GOAT.

  SPEAKER_02: So we all of our linemen are either in one of those uh trainings, so they're working.

  SPEAKER_02: We've been going since January 13th.

  SPEAKER_02: On Saturdays, the the skilled guys come in if they're not playing on a 7-707 on 17 and we get work.

  SPEAKER_04: And you spoke to Saturdays earlier.

  SPEAKER_04: So Saturdays are days where other people from other programs can come in and get free workouts, correct?

  SPEAKER_02: We had some kids from COD come, a couple of kids from Xavier's come.

  SPEAKER_02: Um, we had from middle school all the way up to junior college thus far.

  SPEAKER_02: We do nine o'clock in the morning till 10 o'clock.

  SPEAKER_04: You want to get some work with some of the best guys, good coaching.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, get after you do some one-on-ones so it gets a little competitive.

  SPEAKER_02: We do some basic fundamental drills, wide receiver, DB drills, then we'll roll out, we'll do some one-on-ones, and then we either do half-line seven on sevens competitive, but keep stay up.

  SPEAKER_02: You know, no one's trying to get hurt, but you want to get some good work in.

  SPEAKER_04: Hey, it's not it's not nothing better than going across a valley and competing against a guy that you've been competing against on Friday night to see him at practice and kind of get to know them and build that relationship.

  SPEAKER_04: I got a kid that's a player, and I'm probably gonna be bringing him out there this Saturday, man, because I just want to see them too.

  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, we kind of spoke to the playoffs kind of disappointment with where you guys were put.

  SPEAKER_02: So I went and talked to our um San Diego commissioner, right, as a principal to let him know, because in private schools you're usually accused of recruiting.

  SPEAKER_02: So I say, come on to campus, tell me who we're recruiting.

  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.

  SPEAKER_02: It's a school of 180, 185 kids at DCA.

  SPEAKER_02: We had 25 kids on the football team.

  SPEAKER_02: Who do we recruit?

  SPEAKER_02: If you recruit, hopefully you have about 40, 50 kids, but yeah.

  SPEAKER_02: Here's here's my thought process.

  SPEAKER_02: The principals need to have to say so in what division.

  SPEAKER_02: Because it is a it's it's extracurricular.

  SPEAKER_02: So it is supposed to be considered uh educational, right?

  SPEAKER_02: They decide what level you play in.

  SPEAKER_02: After two or three great seasons, let's say you go back-to-back championships.

  SPEAKER_02: Now CIF steps in and they put you in a division that they think so.

  SPEAKER_02: But the school and the ADs know what's best at what level you should play at.

  SPEAKER_02: But as a competitor, we're gonna play where we play.

  SPEAKER_02: Because there's some small schools that have shown you can get it that you can get it done.

  SPEAKER_02: Real Honda Prep is one.

  SPEAKER_02: We played uh a team out of their league viewpoint.

  SPEAKER_02: So we got a chance to see Real Honda Prep um on film.

  SPEAKER_02: So now guess what we're telling our guys?

  SPEAKER_02: That's a school of the same size as us.

  SPEAKER_02: They started at D10.

  SPEAKER_02: I think this year they end up at like D3 or D2.

  SPEAKER_02: As a matter of fact, they played a um a school down in San Diego that was in our league, uh Santa Fe Christian, which I'm excited.

  SPEAKER_02: We finally got Santa Fe Christian on the on the schedule this summer for seven or seven hours.

  SPEAKER_02: Okay, for passing league.

  SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna go down to San Diego, we'll take on modern day Catholic San Diego, Chula Vista, on a Thursday, and then we'll spend a night and come back and we'll play Santa Fe Christian Friday morning before coming back out.

  SPEAKER_02: So we just want to expose our kids to the best of the best.

  SPEAKER_02: Santa Fe Christian lost in the semis to Real Hondo Prep, who went to the state finals for the second year in a row.

  SPEAKER_04: Getting getting your kids exposure too when they play those better teams, right?

  SPEAKER_02: That's what it's all about.

  SPEAKER_02: College scouts go down to San Diego.

  SPEAKER_02: I want them to hear about some of our kids.

  SPEAKER_04: So, coach, next year, the uh DVL and the DEL and the Sun Valley are all coming together.

  SPEAKER_04: They're all coming together for to create this big super league here in the in the Coachella Valley.

  SPEAKER_04: Does it Christian is tentatively going to be a part of that?

  SPEAKER_04: Or is that is that something that you guys plan on kind of kind of doing in the next couple of years?

  SPEAKER_04: That might be above your pay grade, but is that something that you guys are considering?

  SPEAKER_02: It's above my pay grade, but the man is here who could answer it, and that's our AD, Matt Garrison.

  SPEAKER_02: So like last year, we were back-to-back league championships in the Mazzanita League.

  SPEAKER_02: At the top of our league, a lot of people locally don't understand this.

  SPEAKER_02: At the top of our league is Aquinas.

  SPEAKER_02: Capistrano Valley, Valley View Christian.

  SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?

  SPEAKER_02: So next year we'll play Linfield in league, Linfield Christian, we'll play Ontario Christian, we'll play Marinatha out of Pasadena.

  SPEAKER_02: Our boys are gonna get great, great exposure.

  SPEAKER_02: So we're super duper excited about that.

  SPEAKER_02: And when our freshmen, our seniors, our goal is to be in that top league where we're battling again against Aquinas.

  SPEAKER_02: When we first get in got into the ambassador league, we were playing Aquinas, Ontario Christian, Lympho Christian.

  SPEAKER_02: My my as a matter of fact, the first year we played, all three of those schools went to the state championships.

  SPEAKER_02: So you guys are stepping up the schedule next year, huh?

  SPEAKER_00: I remember when Aquinas was a smaller school, they were playing like, you know, Division 10, and now all of a sudden they're they're nice programs.

  SPEAKER_02: Our our our our AD and our and our head of schools are the real deal.

  SPEAKER_04: I know you this is a camp where they kind of, you know, the camps is sometimes for the small guys, skilled guys, listen up, let's be honest those seven on seven tournaments.

  SPEAKER_04: Our big guys don't get enough shine.

  SPEAKER_04: So you you kind of are flipping the script on that.

  SPEAKER_04: Tell us how you want.

  SPEAKER_03: That's part of the reason why you started the GOAT uh training program, and that's just for linemen.

  SPEAKER_03: That's just specifically to show the big guys the love that that we deserve and that way that that they that they need, man.

  SPEAKER_03: Like football wouldn't be football if it wasn't for the linemen.

  SPEAKER_03: You know, look seven to seven and watch the linemen play.

  SPEAKER_03: What's more entertaining, people want to see the linemen.

  SPEAKER_03: And so it's I took it upon myself that responsibility to give that love and that that platform to the linemen here in the desert and and wherever else they are.

  SPEAKER_03: So for the showcase, we do a two-day camp for just the linemen in specific.

  SPEAKER_03: They all do the the combine and they'll have our own camp.

  SPEAKER_03: We'll bring pros in to come work with the linemen on Fridays, and then on Saturday we'll do a full competition tire flip, tug of war, uh bench press competition, you know, to get the 225 on reps, just like the pros and just like in college.

  SPEAKER_03: And then we'll finish off with the one-on-one circuit or five-on-five circuit um to bring the best linemen, and they'll be awarded the GOAT championship belt.

  SPEAKER_03: What's the age limit on that, coach?

  SPEAKER_03: So we have a middle school ver uh bracket and a high school.

  SPEAKER_03: So we have what um 12, no, 10, 11, 12, 13, and then high school.

  SPEAKER_04: Okay, so you could divide it up evenly.

  SPEAKER_03: All middle school athletes will compete against middle school athletes, high school athletes who compete against high school athletes.

  SPEAKER_03: We have enough coaches to break that apart and to make sure that they're separate.

  SPEAKER_03: Um, and then at the end, when we do the final, a final 10 guys, um they'll all come in together to kind of watch and hype each other up.

  SPEAKER_03: So the high school guys can hype up the younger kids, and then the younger kids can be around to watch, you know, their their idols or the high the high school kids get to work in.

  SPEAKER_04: So I mean the big guys, hey, if you're a big guy out there, middle school, high school, you want to get some love, man.

  SPEAKER_04: I know sometimes, you know, we don't get the highlights that the that the skilled, skinny guys do.

  SPEAKER_04: You know, we don't get the touchdowns, we don't get the the ball carries of the ball, but you know, don't line no shine, right, coach?

  SPEAKER_04: So this is this is your opportunity to shine, man.

  SPEAKER_04: So any high sch any uh middle school or high school linemen out there, I think this is a great opportunity to get your name out there.

  SPEAKER_04: Um, coach, also another reason they should come is because there's gonna be some some recruit the recruiters out there, there's gonna be some colleges representing taking a look at some of the kids, right?

  SPEAKER_02: We did it during um Valentine's Day, and also it's my anniversary.

  SPEAKER_02: But the original goal was to get it to the open recruiting period for high school campuses for so the high schools can be on campus starting May 1st.

  SPEAKER_02: So right now we have Boise State that's confirmed, that's division one.

  SPEAKER_02: We have Southern University, good friend of mine, Marshall Falk, just took the head coaching job.

  SPEAKER_03: And then after that, we'll have a college um camp by the pros on a Friday night as well.

  SPEAKER_03: We'll break off into individuals, so running backs will go with Marshall and then the other coaches that are there, receivers will go on there, um, DBs, safeties, everybody will break into their position group, which will have a pro coach at that position.

  SPEAKER_03: And then we'll have a lineman challenge, which will also begin that same morning with the lineman pros and the other coaches that are involved in the lineman challenge.
