- 0:20We grew up on static and midnight shows.
- 0:26MTV raised us. You already know latch key
- 0:32hearts and wild eye dreams, feral minds tearing at the
- 0:39scene. But I'll see you wait
- 1:02No one replied, but we did through it all yet.
- 1:11Good morning, welcome or welcome back to that Gen.
- 1:14X Friend podcast. Before I begin, I want to give a
- 1:18shout out to MB Radio as usual. Thank you, truly, thank you so
- 1:22much. So let's get to it.
- 1:29OK, so today I come to you to discuss a topic I believe is
- 1:39especially and not just important, but I I believe for
- 1:47Gen. Xers we have now come to middle
- 1:51life, right? And we think about a lot more
- 1:57than we used to. Those carefree days with no cell
- 2:00phones documenting potentially incriminating actions.
- 2:06Thank God for that, good gracious.
- 2:11So what are you, what am I talking about here?
- 2:13What are you trying to get to here, woman?
- 2:18I'm talking about investing during times of volatility,
- 2:24right? You're probably thinking, when
- 2:29did you all of a sudden become this investment guru?
- 2:39I didn't. I'm sharing this tried and true.
- 2:46It's a must share. It's tried and true.
- 2:49So I I've done enough digging of my own and because most of us
- 2:58are considering our future as we near or as we continuously March
- 3:05towards old age, aging, whatever you want.
- 3:12I'm not saying we are going to be, I don't know, letting go of
- 3:17our Gen. X facade or attitude or
- 3:22charisma, whatever you want to call it.
- 3:24But there are things that we need to consider.
- 3:28Investing during times of volatility is one of them.
- 3:35You know what, I'm going to stop this, I'm going to stop the
- 3:37sarod here. That that's the title sort of a
- 3:43click bait and I don't like click bait, but I believe this
- 3:47is actually once I explain it like, oh, OK, I think I think I
- 3:52get what you're saying. So I'm not talking about per SE
- 3:58as in financial investing, right?
- 4:01Like so I'll give you the step 1234, blah, blah, blah.
- 4:05And then you will be, you know, well taken care of because you
- 4:09invested this money into that stock or this market or whatever
- 4:14it is you do like all those influencers pushing things on
- 4:21social media. I'm not here to sell a course.
- 4:24I'm not here to share anything like that.
- 4:27But I believe this tried and Drew way of taking action
- 4:35applies to both, right? So what do I mean by investing
- 4:46during times of volatility, right?
- 4:49Obviously, if I'm going to use both the financial investing and
- 4:55also this, my focus, but the financial investing is what the
- 5:00example I'd be, I will be using because most of us have
- 5:04considered this or most of us are trying to better secure our
- 5:08future, to make it so we're not a burden upon others and so on.
- 5:12So this was just the easiest way, easiest vehicle for me to
- 5:18say what I got to say. So what do I mean by investing
- 5:23during times of volatility, right?
- 5:26Obviously, using the financial investment as a example, every
- 5:34other day, something's crashing on the stock market.
- 5:38It's, oh, you know, oil's too high, people are selling off
- 5:42their stuff, oil's low, people are buying or whatever, whatever
- 5:46is the stocks that people are discussing.
- 5:48I, I, I cannot follow all of that, nor do I want to.
- 5:52It gives me a instant migraine thinking about it.
- 6:00But none the less I have to consider this invest investing
- 6:07right? Because, well, some of us either
- 6:12didn't have the opportunity or whatever.
- 6:14For some reasons life happened and we are feeling behind or are
- 6:19behind. We must consider these things,
- 6:21right? Because that's what they all the
- 6:24experts propose investing is the sure way of securing your future
- 6:33well-being in terms of having enough money to, I don't know,
- 6:41save yourself in the future for whatever bills.
- 6:46But what I want to focus on is that the investing during times
- 6:50of volatility is that socially speaking, these are divisive
- 6:55times. And I've, you know, try not to
- 6:59beat a dead horse, but my God, there are lines being drawn for
- 7:05everything. You can say your favorite colour
- 7:08is blue and somebody's like, well, that is a blah, blah, blah
- 7:12colour and why do you like blue? Somebody can say something about
- 7:18anything and there are lines being drawn and people maybe the
- 7:25sort of behavior happened before social media, but social media
- 7:33has increased the frequency or increased the, the willingness
- 7:42for people to draw lines such such almost inflexible lines
- 7:50with people, former friends or a family.
- 7:55They're like, well, I cut them off because, you know, I no
- 7:58longer talk to them because of this.
- 8:00I no longer talk to that to them because of that.
- 8:03And I don't like this. And if you do this, you're bad.
- 8:06If you do that, you're bad. And I cannot blah, blah, blah,
- 8:08blah. I, I don't want to go into it.
- 8:11I'm sure you're well aware of it.
- 8:14So that's what I mean. The times that we're living in
- 8:19social wise is volatile. You never know what one thing
- 8:27you say could turn the entire mob against you that that not
- 8:33mob turn people against you who you thought you were like part
- 8:39of. Like I thought you were my team.
- 8:41I thought you were my people. So that's what I mean by times
- 8:48of volatility. So what do I mean by investing
- 8:53during this time of volatility? I mean investing into the
- 9:06relationships, right? Much like investing monetarily
- 9:11for our future well-being, security, whatever, investing
- 9:18into our relationships, especially now.
- 9:22Perhaps it was easier back in the you can whatever decade you
- 9:26you felt it was easier to maintain a friendship or
- 9:30relationships with families, your family or whoever you were
- 9:34close to. But it is especially to
- 9:40important to invest when times are chaotic and turbulent.
- 9:48And when I say that, is that OK? Perhaps most of us have not
- 9:55considered, or perhaps most of you out there have.
- 9:58You know, when I was young I was pretty carefree and like
- 10:00whatever. Not that I didn't care for my
- 10:04relationships, I just never put so much care into it.
- 10:10And perhaps it is because I am. I'm over a half a century old
- 10:18and certain life has taught me a few lessons that I've actually
- 10:27taken more seriously because, you know, I'm one of those
- 10:29people. You teach me a lesson like, ah,
- 10:31whatever. You're going to have to teach it
- 10:34to me again. You're going to have to beat it
- 10:36into my head. And then I am not a fast
- 10:39learner. I will profess to that.
- 10:42And if it, it's taking me quite a long time to understand that
- 10:49investment isn't just like, hey, what's going on, right?
- 10:52It's the proper management managing of how I am invested
- 10:58towards relationships, how I manage it just like the stock
- 11:01market, right? You can't just say I'm just
- 11:03going to buy this. Oh, and just leave it.
- 11:06You can you, you can do that. You can certainly be a passive
- 11:10investment investor. But like once JC Penney's was
- 11:16huge, well, they're no longer existing, right?
- 11:19Like look at McDonald's, their stock is falling or whatever.
- 11:22You can, you can name all kinds of previously sore.
- 11:27Like, man, these, these companies, there's no way
- 11:30they're going away. Well, they're going away, right?
- 11:35That's what I mean, sure. What I, what I used to think
- 11:38about passive investing is like, oh, you know, it is I am
- 11:43thinking about investing, but I wasn't hands on.
- 11:47And today I'm talking about especially if you had, if in all
- 11:54of our lives, we've had relations, long term
- 11:57relationships maybe spanning decades, maybe going back to
- 12:01childhood, right? I'm not talking about family,
- 12:03but also family. And generally, obviously, we all
- 12:09have our differences and whatever differences that
- 12:12existed before was properly managed, or maybe not properly
- 12:16managed, but was let left alone because it really didn't impede
- 12:28the benefits of this relationship.
- 12:31Like, yeah, you can feel that way.
- 12:32I feel this way. Let's just go on because it
- 12:35doesn't really matter because I still love you.
- 12:37I care for you. But perhaps it's me, but I'm
- 12:42seeing more of a divisive tone, even when it comes to long term
- 12:48relationships where you know, you know this person, right, Not
- 12:52because they wholeheartedly agree with everything you do.
- 12:57That's impossible. I don't even agree with the
- 12:59things I do. Looking back, I'm like, what?
- 13:02What are you thinking? You know, I think there's a like
- 13:05cartoon thing of Jackie Chan going so whatever.
- 13:11But there's no way. But you know, the difference is
- 13:16didn't corrupt the core of the relationship.
- 13:22So and that's what I mean investing during times of
- 13:27volatility. It didn't have to be today's
- 13:29social climate, right? You could have your own
- 13:34volatility within your own relationship, but you didn't
- 13:38stop investing in it in in the in the relationship.
- 13:41You know, like I'm done, I'm over you leaving, right.
- 13:46If we all did that, I'm sure most of the relationship we have
- 13:50will be broken or non existent. So just like going back to the
- 13:56investing in the financial market, just like what the
- 14:00experts say right when becoming an investor you have to know
- 14:08from jump that there are times you will lose and there are
- 14:14times you will win. As in like benefiting from the
- 14:18good stock market or not, you will lose because of the crash
- 14:22because perhaps whatever you invested in or I invested in was
- 14:27not so great. Perhaps I just dumped a whole
- 14:30bunch on JC Penney when I was, you know, two years old or
- 14:34whatever, which is non existent. Create an example I'm giving.
- 14:38Perhaps somebody dumped a whole bunch on JC Penney and just
- 14:42like, ah, that is a sure thing. And then bother to look until
- 14:47now you're like, Oh my gracious, where did it go?
- 14:51Like it's gone, right. So that's what I mean it, it's
- 14:59that you didn't give up. You you in your mind like, Oh,
- 15:04well, once I start investing, I know there's a chance that I
- 15:07might something might go wrong or and there's also the equal
- 15:12chance that something might go right.
- 15:15But knowing that remove the sort of reactionary behavior.
- 15:22You know, I don't know if anybody watched the movie office
- 15:26space, the game jumping to conclusions.
- 15:30I love that movie. So Gen.
- 15:32X. So in that manner, you're not
- 15:36just jumping to conclusions based on the first information
- 15:40you heard, but knowing this studies the the fear reaction
- 15:44like, oh God, something's going bad.
- 15:46I'm going to remove myself or something's going great.
- 15:49I'm just going to dump even more in there is to remain balanced.
- 15:54They in the relationships, especially now because man,
- 15:58people have drawn lines in every way.
- 16:01It like I previously said, now I want to help us perhaps use
- 16:16example of stock market volatility and staying in the
- 16:22market even when things are going bad.
- 16:25But you know, based on your own judgement, right?
- 16:29Because stock markets are different.
- 16:31Everybody has their own style. So there's no way I can tell you
- 16:34what is good and what is bad based on your judgement of what
- 16:39you have invested in using the financial situation as an
- 16:43example. Like, no, I'm going to ride this
- 16:46out. I'm not going to let this fear
- 16:48or this feeling of like, Oh my goodness, I, I can't handle it.
- 16:53This is too much for me. Make me commit to a rash
- 17:00decision which then will have long term consequences which
- 17:10nobody can really predict, right.
- 17:12So in the same way as a relationship right now.
- 17:17It's true, we're all a party to it and and depending on how
- 17:26depending on the level of willingness to draw lines, harsh
- 17:30lines in the sand or in your life of either cutting people
- 17:37out because of this or cutting people out because of that.
- 17:41Think of this as the stock market volatility has this
- 17:47particular investment in this relationship with this person
- 17:55historically giving you good returns, right?
- 17:57This is a solid thing. You know, even if you had
- 18:01volatile times before, depending on what the argument or whatever
- 18:06you guys were going through that it always came back, right.
- 18:12So the difference between relationships and the financial
- 18:16stuff, really what used to be stable before in this financial
- 18:21sector can crash, could be completely gone.
- 18:25But relationships not so much as not as risky.
- 18:34I'm not saying there's no risk in investing continued
- 18:39investment in relationships that have become volatile.
- 18:45I'm not talking about like physical violence.
- 18:48I'm not talking about domestic violence, nothing like that.
- 18:51I'm talking about fighting like disagreements, right.
- 18:55If this, depending on how long this has been disinvestment in
- 18:59the relationship has been going on, you can look back on your
- 19:04historic patterns and assess whether keeping like just, yeah,
- 19:14I know sometimes good things will happen, sometimes bad
- 19:18things will happen. Whatever, I'm going to stay in
- 19:22it. I'm going to continue investing
- 19:24in this because I truly, based on my better judgement, believe
- 19:31the return on investment is great for this relationship,
- 19:38right? Some people stay long term
- 19:40through the crashes like Great Depression, whatever.
- 19:44Some people were so devastated because of those great crashes
- 19:49that, you know, they did the extreme thing.
- 19:53But if they would have just held on, been able to hold on, they
- 19:56would have been able to recoup at least some partial, if not
- 20:02all and more of what they lost. This is when the fear, extreme
- 20:10fear and reactionary sort of commitments to extreme behavior
- 20:16can really impact the long term benefits of what could be.
- 20:20Because if a relationship, just think about if a relationship
- 20:24isn't tested, there's an old saying, fair weather friends,
- 20:30right? If everything is always going
- 20:33good, when things are going good and things fall apart,
- 20:38especially when you need them the most or this relationship
- 20:42the most, is that a relationship worth keeping?
- 20:45Looking back on the history, you're like, well, we haven't
- 20:48really had any issues that we disagreed on it.
- 20:52You know, small, like I don't want to eat at McDonald's.
- 20:56You know, small disagreements, whatever.
- 20:59They're like the wind blowing too hard and one minute and the
- 21:02next minute it's gone. So if you look back on the
- 21:06history, it's all been fair weathered.
- 21:09And when and when, especially when something like a big old
- 21:15summer storm comes around or like a snowstorm comes around
- 21:19and that relationship gone and all this, everything was tested
- 21:25was what once you thought was a good stable thing like JC Penney
- 21:31or whatever. I think Kmart, right?
- 21:36You're like, wow, I thought that was like legit, it was like a
- 21:41written in stone. How could that be?
- 21:46Well, now you're going to have to come to the decision.
- 21:50Do I continue investing during times of volatility?
- 21:54Because volatility was not present before and now it's
- 21:58here. Is this investment for this
- 22:01relationship enough for you to continue?
- 22:04You know, 'cause it for just to keep on nailing into this
- 22:09financial investment. As an example for relationship
- 22:15investment, like Dave Ramsey, there's this guy I watched on
- 22:18YouTube. His name is Jasper.
- 22:19I really don't know if I ever heard his last name.
- 22:25Well, what they say is that, well, you know, you can't really
- 22:30benefit unless you invest. If you don't want any of the
- 22:33risk, then that's your choice. Then don't invest, right?
- 22:38But if you're going to invest, keep in mind that it will be.
- 22:41There will be ups and downs. Downs so low that it will scare
- 22:46the living bejesus out of you and high so high you don't think
- 22:50it will ever go wrong. But the one thing is not to let
- 22:55the ups and downs really control how you behave in your own
- 23:07investments, right? Is to if you believe this based
- 23:11on your best judgement, if you pick something, whether it is a
- 23:15stock or the relationship, if you believe, truly believe in it
- 23:20is to always be investing. When it's done, you invest, when
- 23:26it's up, you invest you are. We are looking for the long
- 23:31term, not the short volatile, whatever volatility that is
- 23:38being shown to you or me right now, right?
- 23:42We're seeking long term return on investment.
- 23:47So the best is to stay in the market, but also people don't
- 23:53just blindly stay in the market either.
- 23:55Like keep using the JC Penney or Kmart as an example, right?
- 24:00It's it is to be actively investing instead of being a
- 24:04passive investor. You can do that.
- 24:07You can definitely do that or you can even well financially,
- 24:12sure, you can hire financial managers and whatever, but
- 24:16personal relationships, if we're not actively an active
- 24:21participant in our investments, we are in a sense allowing
- 24:37almost promoting a non beneficial outcome because for
- 24:46instance, just say you have you're married.
- 24:51Obviously, I'm not sorry, part of the military crew.
- 24:56You know how that goes. You're married or you can still
- 25:01be married in the military. There are miracles out there and
- 25:04congratulations, you survive. Sorry anyways.
- 25:12So there are long term marriages that I'm not saying they
- 25:18actively invested, but some, some people say, because, you
- 25:22know, they're like, oh, what am I, what else am I going to do?
- 25:25Or some people are really active in investing in their
- 25:29relationship. They're constantly, you know,
- 25:31checking is everything OK during times of volatility?
- 25:35They they're like, OK, this is happening.
- 25:39I'm going to control my level of fear or whatever non beneficial
- 25:45feeling emotion that could perhaps impact how an investment
- 25:51made. Maybe withholding investment,
- 25:54maybe, you know, pulling out of the market completely, but for
- 25:59whatever reason a marriage still exists.
- 26:05You can tell if the couple actively invested into each
- 26:11other in the long term. And you know, in a marriage
- 26:14there times of volatility is not an infrequent thing for all
- 26:21kinds of reasons, right? There's not, I, I know there's
- 26:27those Unicorn marriages out there.
- 26:31I believe I've actually known a few people with that.
- 26:36That's great. That's fantastic.
- 26:39But for the rest of us, really it has to be in, we have to be
- 26:43the active investors into whatever we're doing, especially
- 26:49during times of volatility. We don't want it to to be
- 26:55passively like, oh, whatever, I'm just, I'll just ride the
- 26:59storm out. Perhaps in the financial, this
- 27:02is where a difference in the financial world.
- 27:05Like I said, some if some people can hold on during crashes, they
- 27:09can write the storm out because there's really nothing they can
- 27:12do. But in concerning relationship,
- 27:16investing in your relationship, in our relationship, it is it's,
- 27:22it behooves you. It's especially prudent for us
- 27:27to be extra active in our involvement in the relation in
- 27:33the investing into the relationship.
- 27:36When is volatile right to pass it to let it oh, just right out
- 27:41of the storm. I'm not saying like go chase
- 27:43somebody down right, because we know that I'm not talking about
- 27:46the extremes like either passively, not just well, it
- 27:50will go away and it never does. It's like sweeping stuff under
- 27:53the carpet or I'm going to be so on it like you don't even give
- 27:57it room to breathe. You don't give the person time
- 28:00to think. I'm not talking about that
- 28:02either. I'm talking about a balanced
- 28:04approach is to be you can be actively involved, actively
- 28:08investing into that relationship by knowing when it is time to to
- 28:16give it room to breathe and when it's time to get actively like
- 28:21to do something right. And that's what I mean by this
- 28:29is a tried and true is that depending on how, based on your
- 28:33best judgement, the tried and true must share investment sort
- 28:41of advice is that always be investing in the relationships
- 28:51you hold near and dear to your heart, especially during times
- 28:56of volatility is to be watchful is to not jump to conclusions.
- 29:01Although technically speaking, perhaps I love that game, but in
- 29:09the privacy of my own head, I do jump to conclusions and then I
- 29:13try to temper myself. I'm not sure how well that
- 29:16works, but to be always investing in something you, you
- 29:21know it's worthwhile based on history, based on your own
- 29:26analysis, right? This has to be based on you.
- 29:28This is every situation is different and staying in the
- 29:33market in your, the market of your investing in your
- 29:37relationship, that is a long term issue.
- 29:41The return on investment is long term and so this jumping to
- 29:48conclusions and quick to act like I'm done without thinking
- 29:54of the consequences is how financially to lose out and also
- 30:01emotionally relationship wise we lose out.
- 30:05I'm not saying I haven't done things like that.
- 30:07I have and that's why, you know, I've been watching a lot of
- 30:15financial investment things. I'm like, wow, this is kind of,
- 30:18this is applicable in relationships too.
- 30:22Obviously we are more, we should be more active in our investment
- 30:26in relationship because financially we can't control
- 30:29what's going on in the greater financial world.
- 30:32But in our own lives, our own relationship, we can control,
- 30:40I'm not saying you can control the other person, but we can
- 30:42control what we can control. And that makes a big difference.
- 30:46We have, we are the biggest stockholders in our relationship
- 30:52investments and we have a lot of pull like you hear like oh oil
- 30:59went down, people are buying like oil went or when whatever
- 31:03went up, people are selling, right.
- 31:05That's a lot. I don't know who controls it,
- 31:07but I just know that I see the stock market going crazy in the
- 31:11same way. We are the oil holder, we are
- 31:14the oil barons or whoever sells oil.
- 31:16We control that. We can control the volatility in
- 31:22our own investment, that particular stock that we're
- 31:26investing in that particular relationship.
- 31:29We can make, we can make a rain, we can make the winds come if we
- 31:34wanted to. That's how much power we have.
- 31:38You know, it's but the only way to get any sort of return on
- 31:46investment is to to engage. Some people choose just to
- 31:53disengage entirely because they're like, oh, well, I just
- 31:56no, I can't. But being that we're human and
- 31:59we must interact, even if it's a minor relationship, right?
- 32:05Just say you love going to this one restaurant.
- 32:08It's it's it's minor. You're regular and, and this one
- 32:16waste staff is also regular and you don't particularly like this
- 32:21person, but they're always there, right?
- 32:24And every once in a while you're like, I don't want this person
- 32:29because they're this, that and the other.
- 32:30And you get this person. That's it.
- 32:34That's, that's a small investment.
- 32:36You're like, oh, this is a penny stock.
- 32:38Kind of, it doesn't really matter, but it is necessary
- 32:41because you know, whatever it is, it's I'm diversifying my
- 32:45investments. I, I must, this is one of the
- 32:47things I I believe has meaning in my life.
- 32:52So do you want to cost volatility like person has
- 33:00control over what you're going to be putting in your mouth?
- 33:07Do we want to completely disengage from that investment
- 33:13we can't cause Sure, the person can leave.
- 33:17Let's just the scenario is that this person will not leave and
- 33:21you will also not go to a different place because this is
- 33:25your place, this is my place. I'm not going nowhere, I'm not
- 33:30compromising. So this sort of investment,
- 33:35yeah, especially during times of volatility, it has to be
- 33:40actively watch over. You can't disengage, you can't
- 33:44let it pass because you don't really know the other person.
- 33:46You already don't like the other person, right.
- 33:49So to just whatever, perhaps it's not the best advice, not
- 34:01the best thing to do. And so right, So to invest in it
- 34:06like I'm just going to, I'm going to be nice.
- 34:10I'm going to do what God tells me to do.
- 34:13I'm going to treat everybody with respect, whether they
- 34:17deserve it or not, because God is the final justice people.
- 34:21So, but I'm going to do my part because everybody will get
- 34:24judged on their own and I'm going to keep this option for
- 34:30like the one of the best parts about my life is just eating at
- 34:34this place. I'm going to keep this open
- 34:36because this place is the real investment.
- 34:39This, the little bit of volatility that impacts the
- 34:44greatness, like the stability of this one stock emotionally that
- 34:48you have invested in doesn't really matter.
- 34:52So what it's a little bit of volatile right now, you can
- 34:56contain the fear, contain whatever all the feels that you
- 34:59feel from it and let it be and keep.
- 35:04And the return on investment is that you get to enjoy this one
- 35:10place, right, for the long haul, for as long as these people are
- 35:14there, for as long as you are here.
- 35:17So that's a greater investment instead of letting the little
- 35:20bit of volatility, you're like, oh, I'm done going there.
- 35:24And then you end up dreaming about the food and you find
- 35:28yourself, hadn't you hadn't drooled all over your pillow
- 35:31from dreaming about eating there?
- 35:37Sorry, I'm hungry anyways. But this is what I mean about a
- 35:44tried and true, a must share sort of thing is to be aware,
- 35:52stay in, stay actively, stay active in your investments,
- 36:00right? And make active, thoughtful
- 36:03decisions based on how you analyze the historical
- 36:10performance. How was, was it all fair weather
- 36:13or was there a lot of volatility and everything ended up great,
- 36:17right? Obviously, I'm going to say it
- 36:19again. Relationship investments are
- 36:21different from finances because finances we can't really
- 36:25control. We can just try to learn as much
- 36:27as we can. But with relationships, we are
- 36:29the wind maker. We are the storm maker of it, so
- 36:34to say, not saying the other person does or whatever.
- 36:39The relationships do not have also the the set of dual
- 36:43control, right. But we can do a lot to impact
- 36:47how we respond in that. So to the only way to get any
- 36:53sort of return on investment is to continue investing actively.
- 36:59You can pull back, you can invest more depending on your
- 37:02particular situation, but always be investing because it's like
- 37:12us, a relationship with just like us.
- 37:15If we like, oh, I ate so much the other day, I'm just going to
- 37:19stop eating because you know, it's nutrient.
- 37:22This investment is nutrient to the relationship.
- 37:26There's no stopping to passively allow something to go by or to
- 37:31whatever, right? It's sort of the starvation
- 37:36effect in when we do not eat. Sure, like fasting is a great
- 37:41thing. Intermittent fasting, let's not
- 37:43get into that. That's a great benefit.
- 37:45And just like that, you can use all the tools in your toolbox,
- 37:50like for your relationship. OK.
- 37:53You know what I think there perhaps it was overwhelmed too
- 38:01much. I'm going to do some
- 38:02intermittent fasting with this investment and see, but not to
- 38:06just let go completely. That's still active investing,
- 38:12especially during times of volatility.
- 38:18That's I, I think there's a, when I think about investing
- 38:30both financially and relationship wise, I believe
- 38:36I've learned perhaps later in life, later than I should have
- 38:44because I really didn't have any guidance is that they're very,
- 38:49very similar. And one thing we have to do is
- 38:54to think about it to be an active participant.
- 39:02And whatever we choose, it is still, it's not sort of like the
- 39:05game of luck, but perhaps in the financial market because I'm
- 39:11just not smart like that. But luck will be more on our
- 39:19side. So we just become more active in
- 39:26our participation. And you know, as usual, I, I
- 39:30don't share these things because I think I know better.
- 39:32Obviously I don't, I don't know better.
- 39:39But it's to put it out there perhaps to give a different
- 39:47perspective on investing, because our future is not only
- 39:51managed, you know, best secured by having a lot of money, it's
- 39:56also secured by having relationship, real relationships
- 39:59that will the return on investment is, you know, it's
- 40:07priceless. So I want to take my own advice,
- 40:16which I really tried to do before I I think about this
- 40:19stuff. As a way to put it out there to
- 40:21solidify what I'm trying to think, because a lot of a lot of
- 40:25times when I think about stuff like this, it's all in my mind
- 40:28and, and like, if I had something happen, I'll forget
- 40:30it. So this is a way to document it,
- 40:33to share it. Perhaps you don't agree with me.
- 40:36Perhaps you do. Perhaps now there's another way
- 40:40of seeing it. It is I truly want to share some
- 40:47of the stuff just because I, I, I think we are at the stage of
- 40:52life that a lot of us, if not most of us are considering these
- 40:57issues, relationship investment, financial investment, all these
- 41:01things because we are the sandwich generation.
- 41:06Now you got your parents, you got your kids, right?
- 41:09Every generation goes through that.
- 41:11But so especially looking at where we are in America as in
- 41:20socially and financially, this is a volatile time where as much
- 41:29as we may be fearful in either getting in the market because
- 41:33well it's too late whether financial or relationship wise
- 41:38or just making rash decisions and jumping out of the market.
- 41:45I think if we can just grow our, our awareness of the importance
- 41:54of being active in investing, that is the only way to have any
- 42:00sort of return on what we are investing in.
- 42:03And we must make the effort to do so, especially because times
- 42:08are volatile. Yeah, I, I think that's it.
- 42:17I, I say this a lot. Forgive me.
- 42:20I'm not, I don't, I don't sleep a lot.
- 42:24But when I have stressors causing me to think all night,
- 42:31I'm even more so tongue tied and so on.
- 42:36So if I am, I apologize. Thank you for listening.
- 42:39Thank you for allowing me to share.
- 42:44I appreciate you guys being here and as usual, I pray for you
- 42:47guys all the time. And until two weeks from now, I
- 42:52I'm going to try to not think so much when I should be getting
- 42:56the little bit of sleep that I should be getting right So I
- 42:59don't sound like this. Talk to you guys later. 2 weeks.
