- 0:30Speaker 1: All right, beautiful day in front of us. Overall, kind
- 1:37Speaker 1: of a mild spring day, but not really a dry one.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Keep an eye on the sky if you're going to
- 1:44Speaker 1: be out this afternoon or this evening. Temp wise, we're
- 1:48Speaker 1: looking at midtumber sixties for most spots, mostly cloudy skies,
- 1:53Speaker 1: scattered showers developing this afternoon, which will pick up in peace,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and we could even get a few thunderstorms later today,
- 2:02Speaker 1: bring in some gusty wins. Fifty three right now on
- 2:05Speaker 1: Main Street in barry Tonight we're looking at cloudy skies,
- 2:10Speaker 1: gonna be foggy fifty two Tomorrow. Wednesday rain and thunderstorms
- 2:16Speaker 1: around seventy. Thursday rain and seventy six According to my math,
- 2:22Speaker 1: seventy six is is that four degrees less than eighty?
- 2:29Speaker 1: What the hell's going on here? Wow? Friday, rain in
- 2:34Speaker 1: sixty eight, seventy one in clouds on Saturday. If you
- 2:37Speaker 1: got plants this weekend, you should be pretty much in lockey,
- 2:41Speaker 1: especially if they're gonna be outdoors. I'm not seeing the
- 2:45Speaker 1: R word on Saturday and Sunday. Just cloudy seventy one
- 2:49Speaker 1: Saturday and fifty five on Sunday. Five dollars Tuesdays back
- 2:54Speaker 1: at the Capitol. Yeah, in Montpellier, skip the line, grab
- 2:58Speaker 1: your tickets, get to the Capitol Theater, GB Theaters dot
- 3:02Speaker 1: com five box man. We got a busy morning this morning.
- 3:07Speaker 1: My new friend Noah Payette is going to be joining
- 3:11Speaker 1: us in just a little bit. Very busy working over
- 3:15Speaker 1: at Cody Chevrolet. Rex Thompson's going to be joining us
- 3:19Speaker 1: as well. A community calendar that is bursting at the seams.
- 3:23Speaker 1: There's so much going on in central Vermont, especially this
- 3:28Speaker 1: coming weekend. Christina Willie is with me on the line. Christina,
- 3:33Speaker 1: good morning, Good morning man. I'm so happy to have
- 3:37Speaker 1: you on the air to talk about what what's happened
- 3:40Speaker 1: in Sunday. This is the Britney Bert your daughter memorial bingo.
- 3:46Speaker 1: This has been going on for a couple of years.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, like six or seven. I think I've lost track,
- 3:52Speaker 2: but it keeps getting bigger and better.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Your daughter tragically passed you and You're higher family has
- 4:01Speaker 1: been not only grieving but also trying to do something
- 4:06Speaker 1: in her memory, in her legacy, to keep it alive
- 4:10Speaker 1: and give back to the community, give to give to
- 4:13Speaker 1: a high school or that is trying to do good
- 4:17Speaker 1: in their life, correct. Yep, tell me about this.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Well, we give fifteen hundred dollars a year to a
- 4:28Speaker 2: senior that is either going into the work field of
- 4:32Speaker 2: anything to do with animals or going into school anything
- 4:36Speaker 2: to do with animals. And it's money that they can
- 4:38Speaker 2: take and do whatever they need to. Oh, it's weird
- 4:43Speaker 2: because a lot of times they can't even find anybody
- 4:46Speaker 2: that meets the criteria, so I make sure it's a
- 4:48Speaker 2: wide criteria. So yeah, it's just to keep her memory
- 4:53Speaker 2: alive and to help somebody.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And how cool is that because it she left animals.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, she definitely did. We adopted many that I
- 5:06Speaker 2: did not.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Want this this, I'm sure this bingo, I might even
- 5:12Speaker 1: say tournament is Is this coming Sunday? And it's at
- 5:18Speaker 1: the Den in Williamstown.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yep, you can. The doors open at noon and the
- 5:23Speaker 2: bingo actually starts at one.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Okay, And how long do you think it'll go for?
- 5:28Speaker 1: And what'll be talking about for prices here?
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, you were scheduled till five, but sometimes it gets
- 5:35Speaker 2: done before that. We have got a gift certificate to Wilkins,
- 5:42Speaker 2: a gift certificate to Sarducci's one hundred dollars gift card
- 5:46Speaker 2: to Central Verma Autumner, A whole mess of thirty one bags. Boy,
- 5:53Speaker 2: there's a lot. I can't even remember everything. The meltdown,
- 5:57Speaker 2: a coupon, and.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And you've had you've had a lot of scratch off
- 6:02Speaker 1: tickets too in the past. Are you doing that again?
- 6:05Speaker 2: Oh m, I have a picture frame filled with one
- 6:07Speaker 2: hundred dollars worth of scratch offs and we're selling tickets
- 6:10Speaker 2: to that there. Wow, you know somebody will win that.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And and Donna Thunder is going to be calling.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Huh, you'll be the guest guest Thunder guest speaker.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yes, she is such a great lady, such a great lady.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I've never met her, so I'm excited.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Now. If someone listening right now, if they want to
- 6:30Speaker 1: donate something as a prize for for this event on Sunday,
- 6:35Speaker 1: what's the best way to do that.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Well, they can call me and I can arrange your
- 6:41Speaker 2: meet up with them, or email. I could probably give
- 6:46Speaker 2: you my email, that'd probably be better.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, go right ahead.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Okay, it is c A w I L L eu
- 6:54Speaker 2: y seven zero at gmail dot com.
- 7:02Speaker 1: W I L L E.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Y yep seven zero at gmail at gmail.
- 7:12Speaker 1: All right, yeah, go ahead.
- 7:15Speaker 2: One other thing what we do is too, is any
- 7:18Speaker 2: prizes because we have we have right now a lot
- 7:20Speaker 2: of prizes, which is amazing because everybody has been so
- 7:23Speaker 2: great about donating. We don't ever take any prizes home.
- 7:29Speaker 2: So what happens after the Bengal game itself has done.
- 7:32Speaker 2: We saw more fifty to fifty tickets and it doesn't
- 7:35Speaker 2: go to the fifty to fifty raffle. But whatever the
- 7:38Speaker 2: tickets are, we pull prizes, pull numbers out for people
- 7:41Speaker 2: to get the leftover prizes.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Okay, cool, So yeah, yeah, we try to.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I don't want to bring anything home, Yeah, everything to
- 7:50Speaker 2: go to the community.
- 7:51Speaker 1: It is. It's it's such a good time. It's just
- 7:55Speaker 1: it's just fun. It's good. There's food right there, there's
- 7:58Speaker 1: drink right there, and you guys really inchecked a lot
- 8:03Speaker 1: of fun into this, and yes, it's so wonderful, it
- 8:06Speaker 1: really is.
- 8:07Speaker 2: There's free face painting. My twelve year old granddaughter does
- 8:11Speaker 2: that too, so but he has kids who want to
- 8:13Speaker 2: bring them. He does a really good job.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And it's free all right, starting at high noon Sunday
- 8:20Speaker 1: at the den.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes, I appreciate everybody.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yes, I know you do. We're going to be and listen.
- 8:28Speaker 1: If folks see this on Facebook, please share the event.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Do a search in your event bar for Britney Bert
- 8:36Speaker 1: and that's b u RT Britney Burt and just share
- 8:40Speaker 1: this event. It's it's just a wonderful thing, it really is.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And I it's wonderful what you're doing for the community.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Thank you. I couldn't do it without the community's help too.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And I appreciate everybody, and I appreciate the Den for
- 8:56Speaker 2: donating the space too. Oh yeah, we're getting more organized
- 9:00Speaker 2: every year, guys, so yep.
- 9:02Speaker 1: It's really getting to be a big thing. Thank you
- 9:04Speaker 1: so much, Christina. We love you so much.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yes, we love you guys too. Thank you for taking
- 9:09Speaker 2: the time and putting me on you got it.
- 9:13Speaker 1: We'll talk to you very soon. A couple of birthdays today,
- 9:16Speaker 1: Carol Ann Jones pat Archambeau. What a lovely lady she is.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I miss her. Got to see her, Martika Sue, Catherine Lucas,
- 9:26Speaker 1: Laurie Shatney, Philip Hines, Chris Dorman, Jade Edwards, Susie Lamson,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and yes, Kurt Martin, my buddy, our friend. Kurt is
- 9:42Speaker 1: such a great guy. Twenty years old, today and his
- 9:46Speaker 1: dad loves him more than literally anything on the planet.
- 9:51Speaker 1: So Kurt, I hope you know that, and very happy
- 9:54Speaker 1: birthday man. Last time I checked in, he was like fifteen.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Uh.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Anyway, Hey, I've got this guy on the on the
- 10:04Speaker 1: line with me. Actually he's joining us on Google Meat,
- 10:09Speaker 1: which is so cool. Noah, good morning to you, and
- 10:14Speaker 1: thank you so much for hopping on this morning.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Man.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It is I haven't even met you yet.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Bro, I know it.
- 10:22Speaker 4: We're trying to make something work. We're trying to just
- 10:24Speaker 4: gott to make the schedules the line. It's great, great
- 10:26Speaker 4: to hear.
- 10:26Speaker 5: From you again.
- 10:27Speaker 1: You are going to be in this studio at some
- 10:30Speaker 1: point very soon, I promise you that. But you're you're
- 10:33Speaker 1: working hard over at Cody Chevrolet. And thanks to Bob
- 10:36Speaker 1: and the rest of the team over there, great bunch
- 10:39Speaker 1: of guys for letting you skip away and hop on
- 10:42Speaker 1: aired out this morning. That's so cool. It is, dude,
- 10:46Speaker 1: tell me what you have you you've got something that
- 10:51Speaker 1: you're cooking in our community. I had you on not
- 10:55Speaker 1: too long ago and we were talking about this, but
- 10:58Speaker 1: this is something that's really starting to pick up pace
- 11:00Speaker 1: here and you have taken the Wheel on the Central
- 11:06Speaker 1: Vermont the Verry Softball co Ed Softball League.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's I've played I've played softball, and
- 11:17Speaker 4: I've been around softball for.
- 11:20Speaker 5: I mean my whole life. And it's been this this league.
- 11:22Speaker 4: And I can't remember exactly how long it's been around,
- 11:25Speaker 4: but I mean it hasn't. This league came around, and
- 11:29Speaker 4: I mean from the jump, it's one of.
- 11:30Speaker 5: The best leagues I've played in. It's they like.
- 11:33Speaker 4: To focus more on the for fun than it is
- 11:36Speaker 4: for the competition wise. It's just it's that one place
- 11:42Speaker 4: that everybody can go and just have fun. Chris being
- 11:46Speaker 4: the president of the league, he does a great job
- 11:48Speaker 4: of running the league along with everybody else that's on
- 11:50Speaker 4: the board.
- 11:51Speaker 5: Ah, it's so.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I mean, you're you're kind of the uh Chris is
- 11:58Speaker 1: is kind of driving, but you're the you're the spokesperson
- 12:01Speaker 1: bro kind of and speaking of softball. And when I
- 12:07Speaker 1: had John last time, you were talking about how you've
- 12:12Speaker 1: never I don't think you've ever missed a freezing fun
- 12:14Speaker 1: for families winter co ed softball tournament.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Not for the past I want to stay, not for
- 12:22Speaker 4: the past four or five years. I want to say
- 12:27Speaker 4: I had moved back from living down south and this
- 12:31Speaker 4: that tournament was something that I was always around as
- 12:33Speaker 4: my parents would play, was always there, so it just
- 12:38Speaker 4: it felt right starting to keep it going.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is something that's going to be kicking
- 12:45Speaker 1: off in what now June? Or are we going to
- 12:48Speaker 1: go sooner than that?
- 12:49Speaker 5: For no, we are first the season starts May first.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Which is which is like in fifteen ish days.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Yep, a couple of weeks.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I think, all right, what what does someone need if
- 13:05Speaker 1: if they're even remotely thinking about playing softball, uh, with
- 13:11Speaker 1: this co ed team here in in Barrie, what what
- 13:14Speaker 1: do they need? Do they do they need a bat?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Do they need a glove? Do they need ambition? Do
- 13:19Speaker 1: they need a little bit of a little bit of drive?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Or do they just do they need to just kind
- 13:26Speaker 1: of show up or reach out to you and say,
- 13:28Speaker 1: put my name on the roster, I want to try
- 13:30Speaker 1: this out.
- 13:32Speaker 4: If you want to play, just I'll all say, is
- 13:36Speaker 4: that you need as a glove? I mean, we have
- 13:37Speaker 4: bats you can use, we have just get a glove.
- 13:41Speaker 4: You can reach out to me, you can reach out
- 13:43Speaker 4: to the president and he can direct you to see
- 13:47Speaker 4: if any teams are besides myself or if he can
- 13:51Speaker 4: put you in the right direction, and you can all
- 13:55Speaker 4: you can also reach out to me if I can,
- 13:57Speaker 4: and I can try to point you in the best
- 13:59Speaker 4: direction I can. I'm looking for a couple more players.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It's always never can never have too much.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Do you have to do you have to be you know,
- 14:11Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty pounds or less? Do you have
- 14:13Speaker 1: to have experience?
- 14:16Speaker 5: No, none of that. I know you have to be.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I want to.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Believe it's six you can be sixteen or seventeen. You
- 14:25Speaker 4: just have to have a parent's waiver. And I mean
- 14:30Speaker 4: any age up, Come on down, come play.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Wow, that's simple. And you guys, I love the fact
- 14:39Speaker 1: that you're not like crazy competitive. Yeah, there's camaraderie there,
- 14:46Speaker 1: there's there's respect, there's hey, come on out. The main
- 14:50Speaker 1: purpose of this is to have fun, not necessarily to
- 14:54Speaker 1: always win and leave this season with a trophy, which
- 14:59Speaker 1: would be nice, and you guys have done that in
- 15:00Speaker 1: the past. How many games are we talking about here, Noah.
- 15:05Speaker 5: It's hard to say. As of right now.
- 15:08Speaker 4: We don't quite have the schedule done yet, but I
- 15:11Speaker 4: mean it, I know our our end of the season
- 15:15Speaker 4: tournament is typically around August.
- 15:17Speaker 5: So I mean you're looking and we do.
- 15:20Speaker 4: We do two games a week, either on a Friday
- 15:22Speaker 4: or a Sunday. So I mean, honestly, you're probably looking
- 15:30Speaker 4: a rough estimate twelve fifteen games.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Okay, what other teams are we playing? It's just like
- 15:36Speaker 1: a regional thing or.
- 15:39Speaker 4: No, it's all it's I mean it's teams from It's
- 15:42Speaker 4: mainly teams around Berry. Okay, I'd say Central Vermont to
- 15:46Speaker 4: be more precise. Yeah, but I mean there's it's we're
- 15:55Speaker 4: just we're always trying to get it bigger. I mean,
- 15:58Speaker 4: we're just trying trying to grow the least.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, so room right now for a few
- 16:04Speaker 1: more players. I'm going to drop your info here if
- 16:08Speaker 1: folks want to reach out to you and and and
- 16:12Speaker 1: inquire or or ask any kind of questions about this.
- 16:15Speaker 1: But I'll say this, don't wait, do this kind of
- 16:19Speaker 1: soon here because as Novah was just saying, uh, the
- 16:23Speaker 1: start of May is are we are we practicing or
- 16:27Speaker 1: are we just getting out there? And just like have
- 16:30Speaker 1: ann at.
- 16:30Speaker 4: It last Saturday or it was Sunday. It was Saturday.
- 16:35Speaker 4: We had our first practice. We had a few people
- 16:38Speaker 4: come up just trying to get loose and get back in.
- 16:43Speaker 4: This one of the things I am looking to do
- 16:46Speaker 4: some more. I'm hoping hopefully we're going to do some
- 16:48Speaker 4: more this week. Get one in hopefully Saturday or if
- 16:53Speaker 4: this rain can stop, find a data.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yeah, get out there, man, I'll tell you, uh, it's
- 16:59Speaker 1: this is an exciting time of year. I don't need
- 17:01Speaker 1: to tell you that. You already know. Things are greening
- 17:04Speaker 1: up fast as hell.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:07Speaker 1: It's like overnight, I've got a green lawn now. I mean,
- 17:12Speaker 1: we're headfirst into the black fly season here.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:15Speaker 1: You know that it's a great time of year. You know. Listen,
- 17:20Speaker 1: if you've been spending too much time on the couch
- 17:24Speaker 1: over the last seven months, this is your chance. This
- 17:30Speaker 1: is your opportunity. If you need to get out, if
- 17:32Speaker 1: you want to meet people, if you want to get
- 17:34Speaker 1: a little bit of exercise, we encourage you run up
- 17:39Speaker 1: the Walmart or anywhere, grab a glove, get in touch
- 17:45Speaker 1: with Noah, and at the absolute least come out and
- 17:50Speaker 1: see a game or see a practice or whatever. And
- 17:54Speaker 1: you know, just be part of the experience.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:58Speaker 1: There's nothing like going to any ballpark. Frankly, it doesn't
- 18:00Speaker 1: matter if it's the Mountaineers, or if it's where you
- 18:03Speaker 1: guys are playing, which, by the way, exactly where what
- 18:06Speaker 1: field do we practice and playing that we play?
- 18:09Speaker 4: We play every week right at the Barrytown Recreation Fields,
- 18:12Speaker 4: right next to Barrytown Elementary Middle School.
- 18:15Speaker 1: All right, that's it. What time?
- 18:19Speaker 5: So Fridays it's gonna be asked about. It's gonna be
- 18:23Speaker 5: at night.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Time, so probably I think I believe it was six
- 18:27Speaker 4: to nine. There's gonna be four games Friday night and
- 18:32Speaker 4: Sunday is I mean first game? Is I believe it?
- 18:36Speaker 5: I want to say nine and it goes all day?
- 18:38Speaker 1: Wow, So you can't stay out too stupid late on
- 18:44Speaker 1: a Saturday night if if you're gonna play on Sunday.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Right, no, not if you got that early game.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Exactly what about sponsors?
- 18:56Speaker 3: Ben?
- 18:56Speaker 1: This is is something you were on. I don't know
- 18:58Speaker 1: when it was, what a couple of weeks ago, something
- 19:00Speaker 1: like that?
- 19:01Speaker 4: I think, So I do I want to I want
- 19:04Speaker 4: to think a few people. I want to think I
- 19:06Speaker 4: had I had some a few people reach out, and
- 19:09Speaker 4: I mean I want the pop really they really came
- 19:13Speaker 4: in came in clutched. Last last week I had a
- 19:18Speaker 4: sponsor back out, and they they came and clutched the
- 19:21Speaker 4: path when I had a week to turn the registration
- 19:25Speaker 4: fees in and they really came in clutched.
- 19:26Speaker 5: I want to thank Canadian Club.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Peachy Clean, Autospa and KG Detailing, they all, they all
- 19:36Speaker 4: came and they took took a chance on me, and
- 19:38Speaker 4: they they all helped and they made it so nobody
- 19:41Speaker 4: on the team had to pay anything. And it's it's
- 19:44Speaker 4: gonna it's gonna be a great year, and I just
- 19:46Speaker 4: it wouldn't be possible without any of them.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Is that? Dude? I love that. That's like music to
- 19:51Speaker 1: my ears. I love hearing that. That's great news. Still
- 19:57Speaker 1: room for more.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Though there is, there's always for more.
- 20:01Speaker 1: What what does someone need to do Anyone that's like
- 20:05Speaker 1: I might want to sponsor this, I might want my
- 20:07Speaker 1: business brand to be attached to this. What do they do?
- 20:11Speaker 2: Uh?
- 20:11Speaker 4: The best thing I could say is reach out to
- 20:13Speaker 4: the president Chris Bean, reach out to reach out to him,
- 20:17Speaker 4: anybody on the board.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Just reach out to them. There more.
- 20:23Speaker 4: They have the better answers for that, and they have
- 20:25Speaker 4: the better steps to follow than I do.
- 20:27Speaker 1: You got some contact you got some contact info for
- 20:30Speaker 1: me for for Chris.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Just I mean you can. I don't have his phone
- 20:35Speaker 4: number on hand. You can look him right up on
- 20:36Speaker 4: Facebook just Chris Bean.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Yep, or just hop or just hop on your your
- 20:43Speaker 1: your Facebook page. What is the exact name of it.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Barry Town co Eds, the softball yeap hop on there.
- 20:54Speaker 5: I mean, shoot them a message, they'll get back to you,
- 20:58Speaker 5: all right.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Sponsorship, what are we what are we looking at here?
- 21:02Speaker 1: A couple of hundred bucks?
- 21:05Speaker 4: It's I mean, honestly, it's it's whatever you can do.
- 21:08Speaker 4: We're not the kind of really set prices.
- 21:11Speaker 5: I mean, if honestly anything helps.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Okay, dude, I love this kind of stuff. You're gonna
- 21:21Speaker 1: get You're gonna get in here at some point. I
- 21:23Speaker 1: don't know, I'll get over there and threatened Bob Cody
- 21:28Speaker 1: if I have to, But I want I want to
- 21:31Speaker 1: get you in here in the studio and at least
- 21:34Speaker 1: when we're a couple of weeks in here and give
- 21:37Speaker 1: us a recap of how things are going. Yeah, definitely,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you love this sport. You love softball. There's so many
- 21:45Speaker 1: people that just that's their thing. Man, They just they
- 21:48Speaker 1: wait for it.
- 21:50Speaker 3: It is.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I mean, there's the softball community is huge.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I want to ask you, dude, you I want to
- 21:58Speaker 1: shift gears here a little bit because you were you
- 22:04Speaker 1: were pretty outspoken with with some of your your thoughts
- 22:09Speaker 1: and some of your feelings about the Dugout Restaurant. I
- 22:13Speaker 1: don't know when it was that we were talking about
- 22:16Speaker 1: it last. We've been talking about it on and off
- 22:18Speaker 1: here for a couple of weeks, but there was there
- 22:22Speaker 1: was one particular show. I think it was when Tim
- 22:26Speaker 1: Jarvis was with me on the line and you were like, hey, man,
- 22:30Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta get on and and talk about this.
- 22:35Speaker 1: What what kind of what kind of memories or or
- 22:39Speaker 1: what not do you have about the Dugout Restaurant.
- 22:42Speaker 5: I mean, I lived in Orange for.
- 22:48Speaker 4: I can't even say how long now, So I mean, honestly,
- 22:50Speaker 4: it's I mean you're you're driving past it every every
- 22:54Speaker 4: whenever you go somewhere, going.
- 22:55Speaker 5: To bury your past. And it's.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Yes, yes, I get through the history there and I
- 23:02Speaker 4: get there's that that's that's before my time. But the
- 23:08Speaker 4: one thing that really sticks out with me is I mean,
- 23:12Speaker 4: even driving past it, you can tell that that place
- 23:14Speaker 4: is not safe to be in.
- 23:16Speaker 5: And I mean you.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Got some random teenagers that I mean, they want to
- 23:22Speaker 4: they see a rundown building, Oh, let's.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Go look at it.
- 23:26Speaker 4: The and it's all all it's gonna take for the
- 23:30Speaker 4: town to wake up their eyes is unfortunately, someone's gonna
- 23:34Speaker 4: get hurt and if not, someone's gonna get killed because
- 23:37Speaker 4: they're gonna go in.
- 23:39Speaker 5: And who knows what's in there.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and I mean it's it's unfortunate that the town
- 23:45Speaker 4: hasn't seen that yet.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:47Speaker 4: I know, the town's busy, so I can't really I
- 23:50Speaker 4: can't really put the blame on them because it's not
- 23:52Speaker 4: really on them. But I mean something's got to be
- 23:56Speaker 4: done because I mean, it's it's gonna get to a
- 23:58Speaker 4: point somebody's gonna go in and somebody's gonna get hurt.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah. That's that's kind of echoing what I have been saying,
- 24:08Speaker 1: is just that something hopefully has got to be done. Yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 1: it's been it's been a long time, man, Yeah, because
- 24:19Speaker 1: I mean.
- 24:20Speaker 4: I'm a I'm a former first responder. I was a
- 24:22Speaker 4: first responder. I was a volunteer firefighter for a little bit.
- 24:24Speaker 4: And it's just that first responder in you. It it
- 24:28Speaker 4: kind of screams that nobody wants to get that call
- 24:31Speaker 4: where there's thirteen fourteen year old trapped in the building
- 24:36Speaker 4: that I mean, you yourself when you go in, you
- 24:40Speaker 4: don't know if you're going to come back out because
- 24:41Speaker 4: I mean the building, you don't you can't trust it.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Are you surprised that it hasn't just been washed
- 24:49Speaker 1: away from that hillside in down three out two in
- 24:52Speaker 1: the last couple of floods, I.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Am, I mean the first loot I I thought it
- 25:00Speaker 4: was going to go. I thought it was going to
- 25:03Speaker 4: either be in the middle of the road or it
- 25:04Speaker 4: was gonna be washed down three oh two.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, the I mean, the whole bank behind the dugout
- 25:14Speaker 1: has given way. And if you haven't, if you haven't
- 25:17Speaker 1: noticed it, if you're coming down three oh two, uh,
- 25:22Speaker 1: slow the hell down. And when you're passing the the
- 25:29Speaker 1: ambulance bay there and and look up and look up
- 25:32Speaker 1: at that hillside. It's it's pretty crazy, man. It's something
- 25:36Speaker 1: something that's got to be done outside of it just
- 25:38Speaker 1: being you know, an ice ore, which let's call it
- 25:42Speaker 1: like it is. It's what it is. It's what it
- 25:45Speaker 1: has beened. And anybody that that can't see that that's
- 25:51Speaker 1: an ice ore is a I'm not sure. I'm not
- 25:57Speaker 1: sure what planets are on. I mean saying it like
- 26:00Speaker 1: it is again, it's a freaking ice ore and it's horrible.
- 26:04Speaker 4: But you know, I mean like, but there's honestly like it.
- 26:08Speaker 4: It would be great to have, I mean, get rid
- 26:10Speaker 4: of it. I mean, if if the bank behind it
- 26:13Speaker 4: is strong enough, put a dog park, put a put
- 26:16Speaker 4: a playground or something that I mean, there's.
- 26:20Speaker 5: There's hard I think the only the closest.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Dog park is Berry City, and I mean.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Like put a dog park.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Let let a place where we can bring our dogs
- 26:28Speaker 4: and go and just let them run, or you do
- 26:33Speaker 4: something with this topic.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Noah has hit a nerve because a lot of a
- 26:40Speaker 1: lot of us have memories there. I mean, there's some
- 26:43Speaker 1: there's some real history in there. And I'm still trying
- 26:48Speaker 1: to get in touch with Frank Malnetty. It would love
- 26:49Speaker 1: to get him on the air to talk to talk
- 26:52Speaker 1: about the dugout. Still still trying to touch base with him.
- 26:59Speaker 1: But a lot of remonors, you know that's real near
- 27:03Speaker 1: and dear to their heart. There's this is a sensitive topic,
- 27:09Speaker 1: but it's also quite sad to see the state of ruin. Yeah,
- 27:18Speaker 1: that it's in and we understand that. Man, that's like
- 27:24Speaker 1: in so many respects, some sacred ground it is.
- 27:30Speaker 3: But for a lot of people, for a lot of people.
- 27:33Speaker 5: A lot that was a lot of people's go to
- 27:36Speaker 5: place that was there. Yeah, that was their place.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of memories there and great food and
- 27:44Speaker 1: happy times. But the reality is that it's been in
- 27:49Speaker 1: disarray at the very least using that word very lightly
- 27:55Speaker 1: for a long time. And you know, but you know,
- 28:00Speaker 1: Tim Jarvis had a great point. He's like, you know,
- 28:05Speaker 1: do we do we get to the point where we
- 28:07Speaker 1: have to pass a state law? And if so, where
- 28:12Speaker 1: do we draw the line on what is an iceore
- 28:15Speaker 1: and what's not? And you know, like he went to
- 28:19Speaker 1: a whole nother extreme and said, you know, you don't
- 28:23Speaker 1: want a state law, saying, hey, uh, you got an
- 28:27Speaker 1: old car on your front lawn and a couple of
- 28:29Speaker 1: bags of trash. You know you're you're in violation exactly.
- 28:35Speaker 1: You know, Vermonters we love to live the way we live,
- 28:41Speaker 1: whether our homes are finished or not, whether or not
- 28:47Speaker 1: we've got some clutter laying around or not, whether we
- 28:53Speaker 1: live on a back road or a main road. But
- 28:58Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I I just think there could
- 29:01Speaker 1: be and should be something done with with that area. Yeah, something,
- 29:06Speaker 1: you know, it's a major artery coming in and out
- 29:09Speaker 1: of our city here, and it kind of, you know,
- 29:19Speaker 1: it kind of sets an example of how we're doing it.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Does And I mean, you got people coming in from
- 29:31Speaker 4: Woodsville or Bradford and they're passing that, and whether it's
- 29:34Speaker 4: they've never been to Berry before or they're tourists, I
- 29:38Speaker 4: mean you're you're seeing that, and that's kind of that's
- 29:40Speaker 4: setting an example pretty much for it's the first thing
- 29:43Speaker 4: you see before you go into Berry City.
- 29:45Speaker 5: So I mean it's not.
- 29:48Speaker 4: It's not really the best first look. That's what people
- 29:52Speaker 4: are seeing when they first going to Berry.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, perception, that's undred percent perception. What do you think
- 30:03Speaker 1: if if someone from the town is is is listening,
- 30:07Speaker 1: what do you think they should do?
- 30:12Speaker 5: I mean, try try to get them to clean it up.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Clean it up, I mean, honestly, get into affection and
- 30:19Speaker 4: see if it's something that can be fixed. If there's
- 30:22Speaker 4: something there that could be fixed and it's worth fixing,
- 30:25Speaker 4: then fix it up and people can have could possibly
- 30:29Speaker 4: have their place back. But I mean it all comes
- 30:32Speaker 4: down to if it if it's safe to be in.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 4: If it's not going to be safe or worth it,
- 30:37Speaker 4: there's no point in keeping it up.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's a sensitive topic and I don't
- 30:49Speaker 1: think there's going to be any any one answer that's
- 30:55Speaker 1: that's going to be a fix all for this. No
- 31:00Speaker 1: matter what happens. I think some things should be taken
- 31:05Speaker 1: and salvaged and maybe gifted to the Salties or the
- 31:11Speaker 1: mel Natties. I don't know. I don't know, but you
- 31:22Speaker 1: I'm glad. I'm glad that you're willing to speak out
- 31:24Speaker 1: on this man.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 1: And not everybody is going to agree with what should
- 31:31Speaker 1: be done about the dugout. Not everybody, and we have
- 31:34Speaker 1: to understand that. But great insight, man, I appreciate you
- 31:39Speaker 1: hopping on this morning. And so what's it like over
- 31:43Speaker 1: at Cody Chevrolet. What's it like working over there with
- 31:45Speaker 1: Bob and Jay? Good people?
- 31:47Speaker 5: Oh, it's great. I love everybody here, everybody here there.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Second I came here, they treated they treat everybody like
- 31:54Speaker 4: family and it's a.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Great place to work.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Please say hello to all them for me, all right,
- 31:59Speaker 1: I will. Jay's a good dude, man, He's he's a
- 32:02Speaker 1: great guy. He and I have a little bit of
- 32:03Speaker 1: history together. I will I will get in here soon,
- 32:09Speaker 1: all right, I will try. All Right, buddy, have a
- 32:12Speaker 1: great rest of your day, Noah pay At And again
- 32:15Speaker 1: we're gonna be uh, we're gonna be talking about this
- 32:18Speaker 1: softball league quite a bit. And I hope he gets
- 32:23Speaker 1: in here real soon and we can have some more
- 32:25Speaker 1: conversation about this good stuff. This community calendar, as I
- 32:31Speaker 1: was telling you earlier, it is so jammed, it is
- 32:37Speaker 1: in that and that's isn't that a great thing? Though
- 32:39Speaker 1: it's a busy, busy, busy community calendar. The month of
- 32:44Speaker 1: May is already I'm I'm glancing at it and I'm
- 32:48Speaker 1: just like, I don't even know what to say. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: don't know what to think about May.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Uh.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Donnybrook Fight Promotions has got their huge, huge event on
- 33:00Speaker 1: which is right around the corner a couple of weeks away. Rex,
- 33:03Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, dude.
- 33:06Speaker 3: You know what's happening before May second? Though?
- 33:09Speaker 1: April twenty third, what's April twenty third?
- 33:12Speaker 7: April twenty third is the day that I promote my
- 33:16Speaker 7: longest running student, Dante Herman, at six o'clock only on
- 33:22Speaker 7: aired out podcast exclusively at United Fighting Arts Institute. So
- 33:28Speaker 7: tune in for six o'clock next Thursday, and you're gonna
- 33:32Speaker 7: see a huge celebration and our man Dante get promoted
- 33:35Speaker 7: to bluebelt.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 33:38Speaker 3: So what a lot of people don't understand.
- 33:39Speaker 1: So just well, let me just hang on a second.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Go ahead, hang on a second. Tell tell folks about
- 33:46Speaker 1: Dante first, and and what you do with him. You're
- 33:49Speaker 1: you're a martial arts instructor and you work with Dante
- 33:52Speaker 1: who's autistic.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Yes, all right, he is.
- 33:56Speaker 7: He's just he's he's not nonverbal, but he's pretty. He's
- 34:00Speaker 7: a neuro divergent, I think, is the way that his
- 34:03Speaker 7: mom explained it to me. So I've been working with him.
- 34:08Speaker 7: A lot of people know the story. I watched the video.
- 34:11Speaker 7: He was on a bus, a bus driver held him down.
- 34:13Speaker 3: He panicked. It was it was hard for me to watch.
- 34:16Speaker 7: He was crying, screaming for his life, and I was
- 34:19Speaker 7: like no, So I took him under my wing. And
- 34:21Speaker 7: I was about five years ago, and I've been training
- 34:25Speaker 7: him in self defense. We started training him everything I did, striking,
- 34:29Speaker 7: we did everything. But he doesn't have that control to
- 34:33Speaker 7: have offense. So everything that I teach him is defensive,
- 34:37Speaker 7: so we've always struggled with how to give him a belt,
- 34:42Speaker 7: what requirements, because there's certain requirements in Brazilian jiu jitsu
- 34:46Speaker 7: in order to get a blue belt, because that blue
- 34:49Speaker 7: belt is an actual registered belt. Traditional arts, everything you
- 34:53Speaker 7: learn and then you get to black belt and then
- 34:55Speaker 7: they register you. Brazilian jiu jitsu kind of does it backwards.
- 34:58Speaker 7: They want you to learn everything you're supposed to know
- 35:01Speaker 7: by blue belt, then from blue belt, the black belt
- 35:04Speaker 7: is just tightening things up. So what happened was and
- 35:10Speaker 7: we also take focus on real life situations. Brazilian jiu
- 35:13Speaker 7: jitsu was built around self defense and real life situations. Well,
- 35:19Speaker 7: Dante got into a situation he sleepwalks, and when you
- 35:23Speaker 7: wake him up he can he can sometimes just you know,
- 35:27Speaker 7: it's hard to control him. So a little while back,
- 35:32Speaker 7: they woke him up and didn't realize he was sleepwalking,
- 35:36Speaker 7: and for the next nineteen minutes it took six grown
- 35:39Speaker 7: adults to restrain him. So to me as an instructor,
- 35:44Speaker 7: at that point, he des he deserves a blue belt.
- 35:47Speaker 7: You're able to survive an attack, He's able to get
- 35:51Speaker 7: away from not just one person, but multiple people.
- 35:56Speaker 1: And Dante's not a big dude.
- 35:58Speaker 7: No, he's about one hundred and twenty five pounds, hundred
- 36:00Speaker 7: thirty five pounds, little fella.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Six adults. Yeah, wow, does Dante know? I mean, it's
- 36:10Speaker 1: a local kid here. Does he know that he's getting
- 36:13Speaker 1: his blue belt?
- 36:15Speaker 3: No, he doesn't understand that.
- 36:17Speaker 7: We don't talk about it in front of him. No,
- 36:22Speaker 7: and he's not he's not online like that, So I
- 36:25Speaker 7: can talk about it.
- 36:26Speaker 3: We could get people there. There's going to be a celebration.
- 36:29Speaker 3: His parents are going to be there.
- 36:30Speaker 7: His uncle is who I trained under, third degree black belt,
- 36:33Speaker 7: Mike Desrosia.
- 36:36Speaker 3: That's what his uncle.
- 36:37Speaker 7: His other uncle, Shane, is a blue belt in Brazilian
- 36:39Speaker 7: jiu jitsu. So it's kind of a big deal for him.
- 36:43Speaker 7: He's he's he's excited because he knows something's happening. He
- 36:47Speaker 7: just doesn't know what it is yet, and so hopefully
- 36:49Speaker 7: I can make it through without crying.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Dude, you, first of all, that's not going to happen.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Let's just put that right there that I say, because
- 37:06Speaker 1: you you have you've more than taken this kid under
- 37:10Speaker 1: your wing. You've you've fallen in love with him and
- 37:14Speaker 1: his his dad is there supporting. What a freaking awesome
- 37:19Speaker 1: dad bringing his kid every Saturday to do this, to
- 37:24Speaker 1: have lesson that.
- 37:26Speaker 7: So both the parents, I mean dad, Dad does it
- 37:30Speaker 7: because that's he's not working on Saturday.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Oh, I am so sorry. That was my cat.
- 37:38Speaker 7: She wants me to pay some attention to her, so
- 37:41Speaker 7: she knocked a plan at me. Yeah, Dante's mom, she's
- 37:47Speaker 7: been a huge help for me, uh, especially working through
- 37:51Speaker 7: this because I've never i had never worked with anybody
- 37:54Speaker 7: like that before. Yeah, she's been super knowledgeable, super helpful.
- 37:58Speaker 7: Dad does what he can when he can, like getting
- 38:01Speaker 7: in there on Saturdays because mom doesn't drive.
- 38:04Speaker 3: So that's why we plan this on a Thursday.
- 38:07Speaker 7: It's a big It's not only big for Dante, but
- 38:10Speaker 7: if his mom makes it there, that is going.
- 38:12Speaker 3: To be that's huge.
- 38:14Speaker 7: That is that's a huge, huge thing, and Dante will
- 38:17Speaker 7: recognize that.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Where is this happening?
- 38:21Speaker 7: South Burlington, United Fighting Arts Institute owned by deb Ballardies.
- 38:25Speaker 1: All right, and you're going to be live streaming this
- 38:28Speaker 1: un aired out.
- 38:29Speaker 7: Yeah, we're gonna go live at six o'clock. I'm just
- 38:32Speaker 7: gonna turn the camera on. There's not gonna be a
- 38:33Speaker 7: lot of introduction. But you're gonna be able to see
- 38:36Speaker 7: how belting works. You'll get to see all the people
- 38:39Speaker 7: up there at ufai, and you get to see the
- 38:42Speaker 7: excitement from Dante.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Wow, dude, this is so heartwarming.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Man.
- 38:49Speaker 1: I love this kind of stuff absolutely.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Now I'm pretty excited about it too. I'm super excited.
- 38:56Speaker 7: And you know, I was just always I've always wanted
- 39:01Speaker 7: to promote him, but I wanted it to be legit. Yeah,
- 39:04Speaker 7: you know, I don't want to just make up a
- 39:06Speaker 7: belt and be like, oh, here it is or whatever.
- 39:08Speaker 7: We're just here's a participation trophy. He's actually learning he
- 39:12Speaker 7: can defend himself, he can survive an attack, and that's
- 39:16Speaker 7: all that matters to me. Wow, he put his ju
- 39:20Speaker 7: jitsu techniques into a real life situation and made him work. Yeah,
- 39:26Speaker 7: when you watch one of your students. I was training
- 39:28Speaker 7: these boys last Sunday and watching them pull off a
- 39:32Speaker 7: sweep during a live role that I just bought them.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Is pretty exciting.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 7: It's one thing to drill it and be able to
- 39:40Speaker 7: do it agapon a non resisting opponent, but when you
- 39:45Speaker 7: make it happen on somebody that's trying for you not
- 39:49Speaker 7: to make it happen. That's that's for me, that's the
- 39:52Speaker 7: ultimate as an instructor.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I've had a few folks ask me what the hell's
- 39:57Speaker 1: going on? What's this philosophy and fighting stuff? What's happening
- 40:00Speaker 1: on Sundays?
- 40:02Speaker 3: So me and Big Ad. A lot of people don't
- 40:05Speaker 3: know this.
- 40:06Speaker 7: Me and Big Ad, we've been best friends for ten
- 40:09Speaker 7: years now, and every morning we get up and we
- 40:15Speaker 7: talk about life.
- 40:17Speaker 3: We talk about what.
- 40:20Speaker 7: What we did that was shitty last week, what we
- 40:23Speaker 7: did was shitty yesterday, what we can do to improve ourselves,
- 40:27Speaker 7: what we can do to make ourselves better, what we
- 40:29Speaker 7: can do to relieve stress in our lives, and talk
- 40:34Speaker 7: as men men don't ever get to talk. We talk
- 40:36Speaker 7: about we can talk about a hard subject. We can
- 40:39Speaker 7: talk about abuse, we can talk about trauma. We talk
- 40:42Speaker 7: about loving ourselves. And we're big, goofy motherfuckers. I think
- 40:47Speaker 7: I'm sorry.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I didn't mean to say that.
- 40:49Speaker 7: We're just it's not like somebody would expect it. We
- 40:52Speaker 7: want to put a there's so much negative going on
- 40:55Speaker 7: right now and we're just trying to put out a
- 40:58Speaker 7: positive message on a Sunday. I refuse to get into politics,
- 41:02Speaker 7: anything that will be divisive. We even talked about religion.
- 41:06Speaker 7: But when we talk about religion, we talk about all religions.
- 41:08Speaker 7: What do we talk about We talk about what we
- 41:10Speaker 7: have in common, not what divides us. I can go
- 41:14Speaker 7: and I can talk to there. So up just for example,
- 41:17Speaker 7: up at United Fight on arts. There is Muslim.
- 41:21Speaker 3: People, there's Jewish people, there's Christian people.
- 41:23Speaker 7: There's Satanic people, There's all sorts of people. You never
- 41:27Speaker 7: and most of the time you don't even know what
- 41:29Speaker 7: their religion is. But what we try to focus on,
- 41:31Speaker 7: what do we have in common? What is the Kuran
- 41:34Speaker 7: have in common with the Bible? Like I talked about
- 41:37Speaker 7: it on Easter. Hey, you know what did you know
- 41:40Speaker 7: those did you know they believe in Jesus. They believed
- 41:43Speaker 7: in the Last Supper. So that's what we have in
- 41:45Speaker 7: common with these people.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Stuff like that. So trying to find the.
- 41:48Speaker 7: Commonality versus the division. And I think we as humans
- 41:53Speaker 7: at this point, we seek the division. Like I want
- 41:56Speaker 7: to see, I want to see what JD has to
- 41:58Speaker 7: say today, and I want to find out and I
- 42:00Speaker 7: want to find and I want to make up the
- 42:02Speaker 7: most divisive question. I want to argue quits Lucier is.
- 42:07Speaker 3: The best for that. That guy will get on there.
- 42:10Speaker 7: You can tell him the sky is blue and he
- 42:12Speaker 7: will find a way to argue that it is not
- 42:14Speaker 7: and you're you're just wrong, I am.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:21Speaker 7: They will not look it up. They don't care what's
- 42:23Speaker 7: the real answer.
- 42:24Speaker 3: They just don't say. They just want to argue.
- 42:27Speaker 7: And I was just trying to get away from that
- 42:28Speaker 7: just for my own personal life. I felt like I had,
- 42:32Speaker 7: especially in twenty twenty five, I felt like there was
- 42:35Speaker 7: a lot of fights on a lot of different fronts
- 42:38Speaker 7: and it was and what was that fighting?
- 42:40Speaker 3: It just it was tiresome and I don't I don't
- 42:45Speaker 3: want to do that.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Yeah, So when you guys do this on Sundays, this
- 42:52Speaker 1: is over at Ufai. This is happening around one doing
- 43:00Speaker 1: somewhere in there. Kind of depends on when you're you're
- 43:02Speaker 1: done training, but this is you purposely are doing this
- 43:06Speaker 1: right after your your training.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Yes, we do that because I well, Number one.
- 43:14Speaker 1: It's just like the end of the the you know,
- 43:20Speaker 1: I'm just ask like the end of the dopamine dump
- 43:22Speaker 1: and you're kind of settling down and calming down, and
- 43:25Speaker 1: and is that what it is?
- 43:29Speaker 7: There's two reasons we do that. It's the same reason
- 43:32Speaker 7: I worked with I work with trouble teams also, and
- 43:35Speaker 7: as far as martial arts go, and that's one of
- 43:37Speaker 7: the things that we I don't talk. I don't sit
- 43:39Speaker 7: down and mentor or talk to any of these kids
- 43:42Speaker 7: until after training. We have to get it out, you know.
- 43:47Speaker 7: And I don't think a lot of people realize that
- 43:50Speaker 7: I'm sitting there with a young man and I'm going
- 43:52Speaker 7: to keep everything very private because it's it's it is private.
- 43:55Speaker 7: But I was in a room with him, and I
- 43:58Speaker 7: remember looking at the counselor the and I said, man,
- 44:01Speaker 7: I said, I'm sure, I said, I'm sure. This young
- 44:03Speaker 7: man doesn't want to sit in here. He has a
- 44:05Speaker 7: bunch of pent up energy right now and the last
- 44:07Speaker 7: thing he wants to do is sit still and talk
- 44:09Speaker 7: to you about his feelings. And I was like, hey, man,
- 44:12Speaker 7: do you want to go and wrestle spa fight?
- 44:15Speaker 3: Yep, I do, and then we could talk after that,
- 44:18Speaker 3: but you have to get.
- 44:19Speaker 7: That out and and so what we try to do.
- 44:22Speaker 7: Number One, the place is packed on Sunday. You'd be
- 44:24Speaker 7: surprised how many people just come up because it's a
- 44:27Speaker 7: cool little class. Usually crue is teaching. It's either crew
- 44:31Speaker 7: or deb it doesn't matter. They're both super knowledgeable when
- 44:34Speaker 7: it comes to way Thai. They travel back and forth
- 44:36Speaker 7: to Thailand. They've been doing it twenty five thirty years.
- 44:40Speaker 7: So when there's not a lot of people that have
- 44:43Speaker 7: more knowledge when it comes to striking and way Thai
- 44:46Speaker 7: than depth Ballard, Chris Combat Fitness has some real like
- 44:51Speaker 7: stock Herby up there. He's got a legit striking program too.
- 44:54Speaker 7: Those guys are really good. But so there's a bunch
- 44:59Speaker 7: of people. So that's the other reason. It's just there's
- 45:01Speaker 7: so many people in there. But then there's always a
- 45:04Speaker 7: lesson to be had when you're fist fighting and usual
- 45:08Speaker 7: whether you're fist fighting, whether you're doing jiu jitsu. Take
- 45:12Speaker 7: what we try to take something that we learned that
- 45:15Speaker 7: day and turn it into applying it to life.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Okay, And I'll give you an example.
- 45:23Speaker 7: Last Saturday, I was we were going over how to
- 45:28Speaker 7: somebody's trying to put a rear naked choke on you
- 45:30Speaker 7: and Dante, which is the most natural thing to do
- 45:33Speaker 7: is to turn away, and what that does is that
- 45:38Speaker 7: tightens up the choke. It's the easiest path, but it
- 45:42Speaker 7: ends up killing you. So when what we tell them
- 45:47Speaker 7: is to face their problems. So that's the hardest path
- 45:51Speaker 7: to go, but it's the only way to get out.
- 45:55Speaker 7: So that style of teaching, that style of fight and
- 46:00Speaker 7: can be applied to life, and that's what really martial arts,
- 46:03Speaker 7: traditional martial arts, it was more than just doing that art.
- 46:07Speaker 7: It was about how you apply that art to your
- 46:09Speaker 7: own life. And that's what we're trying to really get
- 46:14Speaker 7: out there on Sundays, a positive message through fighting, through
- 46:21Speaker 7: men being able to talk men.
- 46:22Speaker 3: This is okay.
- 46:23Speaker 6: So you want me to tell you how this came about.
- 46:27Speaker 6: I know you will, okay, I will bea This is
- 46:31Speaker 6: something that was kind of naturally occurring. Anyways, after your training, right.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Now, Yeah, yeah, yeah. Me and him, we would have
- 46:39Speaker 3: long talks. We would drive home.
- 46:40Speaker 7: And we would talk about we this is specifically what
- 46:43Speaker 7: we would talk about. And the biggest thing that we
- 46:45Speaker 7: talked about was how men have no one to talk to,
- 46:49Speaker 7: how we don't talk, how we just shut up. We
- 46:52Speaker 7: rubbed dirt in it, we just keep moving and we
- 46:55Speaker 7: die of a heart attack at fifty five years old.
- 46:59Speaker 7: So I well, once again, I was training a student
- 47:06Speaker 7: and I was speaking.
- 47:07Speaker 3: With the mother.
- 47:08Speaker 7: The mother and father were fighting and we got talking.
- 47:13Speaker 7: So I sat the dad down and I was like,
- 47:16Speaker 7: let's talk, you know, real talk.
- 47:19Speaker 3: I understand where you're coming from. I'm not here to
- 47:21Speaker 3: judge you. I'm not.
- 47:23Speaker 7: And he was like, you know what, You're the first
- 47:24Speaker 7: man that's ever talked to me like this.
- 47:28Speaker 3: That's it.
- 47:28Speaker 7: You're the first guy. He's like, I've never had anybody
- 47:31Speaker 7: to talk to you like that.
- 47:33Speaker 3: And so it clicked in my head. I was like, man,
- 47:35Speaker 3: we don't.
- 47:37Speaker 7: We don't have anybody to talk to when we're feeling suicidal.
- 47:41Speaker 7: We don't have anybody to talk to when we're feeling depressed,
- 47:43Speaker 7: because what do we do?
- 47:44Speaker 3: What are our friends? As boys?
- 47:46Speaker 7: Same thing, he said, The only people I have to
- 47:48Speaker 7: talk to is my friends at work. Our wives don't
- 47:51Speaker 7: get us. I don't get my wife. I don't expect
- 47:54Speaker 7: my wife to get me. But other dudes do. Other
- 47:57Speaker 7: guys get it, and we don't. We put on that
- 48:00Speaker 7: fake bravado and we'll like, just shut up, man, eat it.
- 48:04Speaker 7: Nobody cares. I mean, how many of them reeals have
- 48:07Speaker 7: we watched You're a man? Nobody's coming. Nobody cares? Yeah,
- 48:11Speaker 7: we do, man, we actually do so, just the spot
- 48:18Speaker 7: for people to know and feel comfortable as a man.
- 48:21Speaker 7: You can still talk, you can still have feelings. You
- 48:25Speaker 7: don't have to be a robot, you don't have to
- 48:27Speaker 7: be well.
- 48:30Speaker 3: And you can still be a man.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Yeah. It's a great message, man, it really is. Rex.
- 48:40Speaker 1: We have we have to shift gears here because May
- 48:45Speaker 1: second is right around the corner here and I'm telling you, yeah,
- 48:49Speaker 1: if you haven't marked your calendars yet, I don't know
- 48:53Speaker 1: what you're waiting for. The stage is set for one
- 48:57Speaker 1: of the biggest MMA events in the region Saturday, May second,
- 49:02Speaker 1: Donnybrook Fight Promotions presenting the Reckoning the Art of Eight Limbs.
- 49:07Speaker 1: This is a jam packed card of muy Thai and
- 49:13Speaker 1: so much more, all under one roof and this time
- 49:17Speaker 1: the events. Yes, you guys are moving from the from
- 49:20Speaker 1: the Burry Auditorium to the beautiful.
- 49:22Speaker 3: The Double to the Double Tree Inn in Burlington. Here's
- 49:26Speaker 3: the deal. A lot of people they're like, oh, you know,
- 49:29Speaker 3: it's a drive. Yes it is.
- 49:31Speaker 7: But if you call the front desk, don't call the
- 49:34Speaker 7: one hundred number.
- 49:35Speaker 3: You call the front desk.
- 49:36Speaker 7: Yeah, you tell them you're coming to the Donnybrook Show
- 49:40Speaker 7: and this hotel will sell you the room for one
- 49:43Speaker 7: hundred and twenty nine dollars a night versus five hundred dollars.
- 49:47Speaker 7: And they have a beautiful They have a five star
- 49:49Speaker 7: restaurant there.
- 49:50Speaker 3: They have in the morning, they have the.
- 49:52Speaker 7: Huge breakfast down in the atrium indoor pool. It's a
- 49:57Speaker 7: beautiful hotel. It really is that they had a brain
- 49:59Speaker 7: new construction onto it. There's a twelve thousand square foot ballroom.
- 50:03Speaker 7: We have fourteen fights. We just picked up the Air
- 50:07Speaker 7: National Guard as an advertiser up there, so they're advertising
- 50:11Speaker 7: at all of our shows.
- 50:12Speaker 3: I'll start you right out. What do we have. We
- 50:14Speaker 3: have Liam McNeil versus Tony Luciani. That's the main event.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Liam McNeil's undefeated. He's going to defend his title.
- 50:23Speaker 7: The second one is the number one contender fight between
- 50:25Speaker 7: Spencer Belanger and Mikey Gagman.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Mikey Gagnan his.
- 50:32Speaker 7: Poster alone had three hundred and seventy shares, not views, shares.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Just for him.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Then we have a we have Ali abdua Razak from Ufai.
- 50:46Speaker 3: He's going to be fighting Dante Atkis Atkins.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Then we have females.
- 50:52Speaker 7: We have a female fight small glove moy Thai against
- 50:55Speaker 7: Tachiana versus Lindsay Valentine.
- 50:58Speaker 3: Everybody remembers the Lindsay blood.
- 51:00Speaker 7: Valentine Tsiana is a new Muay Thai jim. Her dad
- 51:04Speaker 7: owns the gym. She's the daughter and one of the coaches.
- 51:07Speaker 7: She's gonna be fighting Lindsay. Then we have the Bruce
- 51:10Speaker 7: Lee fight. Oh yeah, we've got that. They're wearing small gloves,
- 51:15Speaker 7: elbow pads and they're gonna be fighting J Kung dou style.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Bruce he is, he is untethered.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Man. I'm not gonna get into the myth of Bruce
- 51:26Speaker 3: I don't. I don't fall for that.
- 51:27Speaker 7: But we're gonna find out if that style actually works
- 51:30Speaker 7: in real life. I do because that's always been the
- 51:33Speaker 7: myth that Bruce Lee could beat up somebody like brock Lesner.
- 51:36Speaker 7: But he died too early. No he can, and but
- 51:39Speaker 7: I'm not going to get into that.
- 51:40Speaker 3: He's a dead man.
- 51:40Speaker 7: But dude, we're gonna find out if J kungdu works
- 51:44Speaker 7: in a real life situation.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Valentine is one of the fights that I'm looking forward
- 51:49Speaker 1: to the most. She is Lindsay is. She is an animal?
- 51:55Speaker 3: Nice?
- 51:56Speaker 7: Yes, she just fought this weekend down at Street Beafs
- 51:59Speaker 7: Wow and won her fight down there.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Wow.
- 52:02Speaker 7: So we got Scott Kirby next one that Scott Kirby's
- 52:04Speaker 7: out of combat fitness that he's gonna be fighting Tommy
- 52:07Speaker 7: love Good. Tommy love Good opened up the j Condu
- 52:10Speaker 7: studio up here, so it's two instructors gonna fight each other.
- 52:13Speaker 7: We have Kyle McGuire Coyle maguire sells kyrs up in Burlington.
- 52:18Speaker 7: His uh, He's gonna be fighting Dave Ebenhausen. Dave is
- 52:22Speaker 7: from Rutland. His sister was the cop, the female officer
- 52:27Speaker 7: that got killed in the Chiro accident. Yeah, he's a marine,
- 52:31Speaker 7: big tough guy. Kyle's got a hell of a fight
- 52:33Speaker 7: coming in. Then we also have we have Austin Allen
- 52:36Speaker 7: coming back, one of the Allen Boys, local Austin Allen's
- 52:39Speaker 7: going to be fighting the matchmaker for Combat Zone, Jerome Brushiers.
- 52:44Speaker 7: So that's gonna be a good fight. Who do we
- 52:47Speaker 7: got Logan Loftus Logan Loftus. This is an interesting fight
- 52:51Speaker 7: because Logan looks like Logan from the X Men, like
- 52:56Speaker 7: the physique, everything, and I see the I see him training.
- 53:01Speaker 7: He's putting in the work, and I know he has
- 53:04Speaker 7: to because he's fighting Nathan Donor.
- 53:06Speaker 3: Nathan Donor is making his debut.
- 53:08Speaker 7: But we know Ryan Doner, we know the gym that
- 53:10Speaker 7: he comes out of, so we know Nathan's going to
- 53:12Speaker 7: be a super technical, super tough kid. Another guy from UFAI,
- 53:17Speaker 7: we got Cameron Hikey. Cameron is a UVM student. I
- 53:21Speaker 7: think he's in the medical program. He's a frat kid
- 53:23Speaker 7: up at UVM. He's gonna be fighting James Hammon, another
- 53:28Speaker 7: college kid out of Combat Fitness.
- 53:30Speaker 3: We have a lot of local guys going on there.
- 53:33Speaker 7: Another guy from Combat Fitness is Charlie al Samira. He's
- 53:37Speaker 7: gonna be fighting Cruz Swinson. Another guy from Combat Fitness.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Who else?
- 53:43Speaker 7: Oh, we got a guy coming up from Pennsylvania, Sachu Byrd.
- 53:48Speaker 7: Wants to fight Ryan Donor, Nathan's older brother. So that's
- 53:51Speaker 7: gonna be another great fight right there.
- 53:56Speaker 3: Where are we getting down to? Oh? What are these
- 54:01Speaker 3: last ones? Here?
- 54:02Speaker 7: I'm sorry, I'm missing some here, I'm missing some. I've
- 54:06Speaker 7: got a couple more. I don't have them written down. Oh,
- 54:08Speaker 7: because they're late.
- 54:09Speaker 1: This card is this card is like what fourteen fifteen?
- 54:14Speaker 7: Yes, I believe we have fifteen matched rightown. Yeah, it'll
- 54:20Speaker 7: be a good card, all kickboxing inside of a ring.
- 54:24Speaker 7: So we're going to try this out an all kickboxing
- 54:27Speaker 7: card and see how that goes. I think a lot
- 54:30Speaker 7: of people in Vermont are they get more interested in
- 54:34Speaker 7: kickboxing versus MMA sometimes.
- 54:38Speaker 1: And again, this time the event moves to a brand
- 54:43Speaker 1: new venue. No longer the Burry Auditorium, now the beautiful
- 54:48Speaker 1: Double Tree by Hilton in Burlington, South Burlington. To be exact,
- 54:52Speaker 1: grab your seats Donnybrook fight Promotions dot Com and it
- 54:59Speaker 1: just can be great night recks, food, drink, all available
- 55:02Speaker 1: for purchase, special hotel rates, and so much more. It's
- 55:06Speaker 1: going to be one amazing night. May second, let me
- 55:11Speaker 1: get onto aired out here.
- 55:14Speaker 3: I'm gonna get in here and.
- 55:15Speaker 7: I will put What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna
- 55:17Speaker 7: post this in the comments section right now.
- 55:22Speaker 3: This is.
- 55:28Speaker 1: What do you got? A link for hotel rates and stuff?
- 55:34Speaker 3: Hang on?
- 55:37Speaker 7: What I have is I have the QR code.
- 55:42Speaker 3: Oh, I can't get in there. I'll get it afterwards.

- 56:52Speaker 1: whatever their specific concerns are with their kids, whether it's
