- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Have you ever had this experience?
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: You just finished a big writing project like launching a book, getting a new client, or designing your website, and you're having lunch with somebody you admire, and you mention your recent success in finishing this big project that's important to you.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: So you show them your finished project or you tell them about it, and they look at it for three seconds or pretend to be interested.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: They shrug as they acknowledge that it's kind of cool, and then they just go back to their food and go back to your regular conversation.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Well, those kinds of moments can be really crushing, but only if you let them.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: You know, so oftentimes we look to other people for our validation and our affirmation.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: We want their approval because we're looking to somebody to give us a thumbs up or an emotional high five, and that makes us feel good.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: But validation from other people should only come after you have first validated yourself.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Regardless of what other people think, the most important validation comes from your own sense of doing something you love, from creating value for others, from overcoming challenges.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: So don't give other people's shrugs and their I don't care attitude.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Don't give those any meaning.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: It has nothing to do with the value of your work.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: They're living their own lives with their own problems.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And if we're being really, really honest, those people who seem to brush you off or blow you off or they kind of shrug and are disinterested in what you're doing, those people are looking for validation just as much as you are.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So to most other people, your project represents a blip on the radar screen of life.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Don't look to them for your approval and validation.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: First, look inward, and then you'll be able to face outward to the world without needing something from those people, but instead coming to them with something to offer.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Take a moment right now to pause and give yourself mental validation for something good that you've achieved in the last week or two.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: If you want to continue pursuing your craft as an author, and who doesn't, because we all want to grow in our skills and our expertise, if you want to continue pursuing your craft, one of the best ways to do that is by creating a course from your book.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: My friend Lucas Marino has just published a book to help you do exactly that.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: It's called Monetize Your Book with a Course, your guide to quickly creating a profitable and impactful course from your book.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: You know, most authors stop when they have written, published, and marketed their book, but there's one final step, and that is creating a course to build an additional stream of income and help your reader engage at a deeper level.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: In monetize your book with a course, you'll learn how to determine your ideal student, develop your curriculum, implement a learning management system, market the course, find your students, and much more, even if you've never taught a course before.

- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Truly, it's a phenomenal book.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: It's not very long.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: It's short enough to where it packs in a ton of knowledge, but it's long enough to cover the subject adequately.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Lucas has done an incredible job creating a resource that is the perfect way to address this really, really important topic.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: So many thanks to Lucas for creating this amazing book and for sponsoring today's episode.
