- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.
- 0:08Speaker 2: The world's a big.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:18Speaker 3: So he will not be taking a limo to his
- 0:20Speaker 3: fifth grade dance. It'll probably be my wife driving him
- 0:22Speaker 3: in my pathline herself. Sorry, buddy, that's kind of.
- 0:24Speaker 4: Like a lemo.
- 0:24Speaker 5: You'll be coming up on his therapy session in about
- 0:27Speaker 5: fifteen years, right.
- 0:30Speaker 6: Fifth grade, Dad.
- 0:31Speaker 7: I'm mainly reason why I called in is because I'm
- 0:34Speaker 7: actually kind of upset by the fact that they're gonna
- 0:37Speaker 7: celebrate Tom Brady.
- 0:38Speaker 5: In the with all serious Why would that in any
- 0:42Speaker 5: way upset you?
- 0:42Speaker 3: Would it be back to comparison, to say, somewhere in
- 0:45Speaker 3: the in the realm of juju, Tom Parrison, comparison.
- 0:50Speaker 7: Doesn't filtered from the time, you don't want from town
- 0:53Speaker 7: fit filter. If you don't today get off like Math
- 0:55Speaker 7: would not leave heavan, Are you really trying to piss
- 0:58Speaker 7: you off?
- 0:58Speaker 4: Well, the first interaction with Aaron back in the eighteen
- 1:01Speaker 4: when I first started, I thought he was in pr
- 1:03Speaker 4: I didn't know who he was. That's the perfect thing
- 1:05Speaker 4: that would piss him, all right, So I went up
- 1:07Speaker 4: to him and I asked him if he had a roster.
- 1:10Speaker 4: He looked at me like, I, why.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Would you assume I'm not in pr.
- 1:17Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled by Dunking.
- 1:23Speaker 6: All right, I'm coming in hot here, Welcome the Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:29Speaker 6: It is Tuesday here at Gillette Stadium, and it's Taylor
- 1:34Speaker 6: Swift week here, Holy mac leap, let's go. I mean
- 1:39Speaker 6: this place is buzzing. They're getting ready for this concert
- 1:42Speaker 6: that is three nights. And if your daughter is not going,
- 1:47Speaker 6: she's feeling pretty bad about it. You don't love her,
- 1:50Speaker 6: You didn't get her tickets. You're a bad, bad.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Poor Yeah, that's ten grand ready right now, and just
- 1:58Speaker 3: put it up and get her here the concert.
- 2:00Speaker 4: What's wrong?
- 2:00Speaker 6: It's crazy, But yeah, we're going to talk Patriots. And
- 2:03Speaker 6: we haven't had a show since we had our schedule
- 2:06Speaker 6: release on Thursday night. So the reviews are in.
- 2:10Speaker 4: People liked it, yeah, glad response positive.
- 2:14Speaker 3: A lot of people that worked hard on it. I
- 2:15Speaker 3: know everybody here did and and did our part and it.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Was all of us.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Come on, everybody did.
- 2:20Speaker 4: I didn't have a huge roles, showed up.
- 2:22Speaker 8: A couple of times.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:24Speaker 6: Paul liked it was weird.
- 2:26Speaker 9: Yeah, lunch and weird, funny story taken. He's reading his
- 2:31Speaker 9: own old pf W article.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And crinkling, cranking it. We go back to the Patriots
- 2:40Speaker 3: a tentacle, oh man, Paul. But it was fun. We
- 2:43Speaker 3: had a fun few days shooting in in Walpole. I
- 2:45Speaker 3: don't know why people are obsessed with trying to figure
- 2:47Speaker 3: out what house it was.
- 2:48Speaker 4: It's just a random house special about it.
- 2:50Speaker 5: We just ran.
- 2:52Speaker 4: This house, you know, where is it? But but it
- 2:56Speaker 4: was fun.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I think everybody's really proud with with how it came out.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And I think, you know, to echo what we said
- 3:00Speaker 3: this morning, just getting Brady kind of made it as
- 3:02Speaker 3: much as I wanted to be the guy with the
- 3:05Speaker 3: hand in the bottle and the TV twelve shirt on,
- 3:07Speaker 3: and you know that just made it.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Having him at the end.
- 3:10Speaker 6: Yeah, and you know, thank you to Brady for doing it.
- 3:13Speaker 6: You know, he came through at the end last minute.
- 3:15Speaker 6: I mean it was I remember you walked out, big
- 3:17Speaker 6: grin on your face.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Like we got Brady.
- 3:18Speaker 3: So yeah, it was.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It was good.
- 3:21Speaker 3: And then watching all the ones around the league too,
- 3:23Speaker 3: it's so much, so much goes into all these videos.
- 3:25Speaker 6: I thought there was a lot of good ones. My
- 3:28Speaker 6: personal favorite with the Jaguars, I thought they did a
- 3:31Speaker 6: really good job.
- 3:32Speaker 3: So I really like the one where they like recast
- 3:35Speaker 3: what was it like Trevor Lawrence? Who was that guy
- 3:37Speaker 3: playing Trevor Lawrence in that video? I assume I was
- 3:39Speaker 3: supposed to know who it was. It was someone else playing,
- 3:41Speaker 3: but there were a lot of really clever jokes in
- 3:44Speaker 3: that one.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I enjoyed it long.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Doug Peterson was Doug Peterson was like I used to
- 3:48Speaker 5: be one of the actors. It was mostly an understudy.
- 3:51Speaker 4: He was funny, like act They did it well.
- 3:54Speaker 5: That's why I asked Fred the guy who sort of
- 3:58Speaker 5: ran the whole show like director, like he was so good,
- 4:02Speaker 5: you know. It turns out that he was actually a
- 4:05Speaker 5: professional actor. So that kind of lessened it a little
- 4:08Speaker 5: bit for me because I really thought, Wow, this is
- 4:11Speaker 5: a guy who works with the Jags content and he's
- 4:14Speaker 5: really good, Like he just made that really go But.
- 4:17Speaker 6: Even the owner.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Mustache, that was funny. I thought, I gotta give prop
- 4:24Speaker 3: So I thought Bob Bob Socy was an awesome did
- 4:26Speaker 3: an awesome job acting like just seems so engaged in it.
- 4:30Speaker 4: And Steve Nelson, I thought, just delivered first.
- 4:32Speaker 8: That was Steve Nelson's first and like only take it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: He nailed, nailed, nail it.
- 4:37Speaker 6: But for Steve Nelson, if there was one person that
- 4:39Speaker 6: no one knew who he was, it was Steve Nelson.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Oh, I thought it was what's his face?
- 4:43Speaker 4: Earlier, the guy with the name.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I thought Pete Rock was the one.
- 4:47Speaker 6: That was was was a little well, you know somebody
- 4:50Speaker 6: from mass Live like, oh, Patriots did to release and
- 4:53Speaker 6: you know two players weren't in it, Edelman and Patrick
- 4:56Speaker 6: Chung tweeting blah blah blah, and you know they had
- 4:59Speaker 6: Pete Rock reading the newspaper. No, it wasn't Pete Rock,
- 5:03Speaker 6: it was Steve Nelson.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Screwed it up.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Hey, we tried to get as many ass you know who.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Fred wouldn't be good at ignoring the noise. Fred doesn't
- 5:11Speaker 5: ignore the noise.
- 5:12Speaker 6: Well, it was brought to my attention. But anyway, so yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 6: if people want to talk about the schedule release, we
- 5:18Speaker 6: could do that.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Players are here Riley right now as we speak.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Evans over there looks like a big burly dude, good beard,
- 5:27Speaker 3: solid beard.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Solid offensive line look right there, right yeah, Iowa. I mean,
- 5:34Speaker 4: he's just he's just now it's the Great Iron.
- 5:39Speaker 6: So you know, the it's it's it's a tough preseason
- 5:44Speaker 6: if you're a Patriots fan right now, because you know,
- 5:47Speaker 6: the Patriots really aren't included in these really early prognostications
- 5:52Speaker 6: about playoff contenders. But we'll see what happens. We'll see
- 5:56Speaker 6: what happens. I really do think that Bill O. Ryan
- 6:01Speaker 6: is the biggest pickup of the season for them up
- 6:04Speaker 6: to now anyway, and I think he's gonna make a
- 6:07Speaker 6: big difference. I think the offense is going to be
- 6:10Speaker 6: that much better where they might surprise some people. They
- 6:14Speaker 6: might surprise some people.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Fred, I've reached this point too.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I've reached the point where, you know, the all off
- 6:19Speaker 3: season like this is what I want them to do.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I want him to add these pieces X, Y and Z.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And then I feel like you get after the draft
- 6:25Speaker 3: and you kind of realize this is it. And so
- 6:27Speaker 3: then I just felt like this change and I'm like,
- 6:31Speaker 3: all right, I think we got something. You know, even
- 6:33Speaker 3: though if you wanted to go two months ago, of
- 6:35Speaker 3: all the things that I was hoping that they did,
- 6:36Speaker 3: they didn't do. But now I'm like, well, that's Riley Reef.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I mean, he maybe has another year and a half.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I mean, Mike SICKI that guy can move pretty good,
- 6:43Speaker 3: you know. I just I've kind of talked myself into it.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I don't know if this is just the thing that
- 6:49Speaker 3: fans do. But when when the fan when when the
- 6:51Speaker 3: team's kind of set and you know it, but.
- 6:54Speaker 6: You know you're all right. I think my point is
- 6:56Speaker 6: that even with last year's cast, if you add Bill O'Brien,
- 7:00Speaker 6: it would have been better. Sure, And so now you know,
- 7:03Speaker 6: I think they might do some things.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I feel a little bit.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I don't know, I just have a little optimism. I
- 7:09Speaker 3: don't know if it's reasonable or not. But you know,
- 7:10Speaker 3: I think you just get to that point where you
- 7:12Speaker 3: accept what you got and it is.
- 7:13Speaker 4: What it is.
- 7:13Speaker 5: I think it's to me, it's all dependent on what
- 7:16Speaker 5: exactly you're optimistic about. Like, do you think that they'll
- 7:19Speaker 5: be better offensively?
- 7:21Speaker 3: For like reasonable questions?
- 7:23Speaker 5: No, Like with friend's talking about I agree with I
- 7:25Speaker 5: think that they'll with Bill O'Brien, I think they'll be
- 7:28Speaker 5: they'll look like an NFL offense. They didn't most of
- 7:30Speaker 5: the time last year. So I think, like it's very
- 7:33Speaker 5: reasonable to suggest they'll be better offensively because Bill O'Brien
- 7:36Speaker 5: is here.
- 7:37Speaker 6: I think what I want to see is in December,
- 7:39Speaker 6: we're in the mix and not like, well they'll make it,
- 7:43Speaker 6: but they'll get bounced out in the first round. Like
- 7:45Speaker 6: we're in the mix and maybe you got a chance
- 7:47Speaker 6: to win a game or two, you know.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, I mean, and we can you think
- 7:50Speaker 4: that that's going to happen.
- 7:52Speaker 6: That's what I'm hoping for. Yeah, So like.
- 7:54Speaker 5: That's what I would I would ask, like when you said,
- 7:57Speaker 5: like I think they're going to surprise, some.
- 7:58Speaker 6: People said they could surprise them.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Right right, No, And like I think that you can
- 8:03Speaker 5: make the argument, like I could make the argument. I
- 8:05Speaker 5: think they could be they could surprise, like my expectations, right,
- 8:09Speaker 5: but my expectations I don't think are probably starting at
- 8:11Speaker 5: the same spot that Fred Zee.
- 8:13Speaker 4: You know what I mean.
- 8:14Speaker 6: I'm choosing. I'm choosing to enter in I'm choosing to
- 8:17Speaker 6: end season with no expectations but with hope.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Okay, that was like I'm choosing to no expectations.
- 8:28Speaker 6: But but I'm going into the season with hope, not expectations. Hope.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Well, I just and I think as a fan, if
- 8:34Speaker 3: you really do enjoy football, how can you not no
- 8:36Speaker 3: matter what team you are, conjure up some kind of
- 8:39Speaker 3: hope of you.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Know, every every team has hope today right now.
- 8:44Speaker 6: But I laugh, like, you know, Paul shows, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 6: early in the Red Soex season, they you know, they're
- 8:50Speaker 6: they were terrible. They're terrible. Then they started getting hut
- 8:53Speaker 6: like wow, this team really growing. Now they're back in
- 8:56Speaker 6: the bottom. So like you don't know, you just don't know.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Now, and that's uh.
- 9:01Speaker 3: And we can talk about the schedule too, But I
- 9:02Speaker 3: think to your point was, you know, just get to
- 9:04Speaker 3: that get through that Germany game and be in the mix.
- 9:07Speaker 3: You know, I think for this team, like if you
- 9:09Speaker 3: can just still be kind of in the mix at
- 9:11Speaker 3: that point, and now it's it's a tough finish to
- 9:13Speaker 3: the schedule over that last month, you know, a few
- 9:16Speaker 3: tough places to play.
- 9:16Speaker 5: So that's why I'm asking about the surprise element, Like
- 9:22Speaker 5: what do you think that most people think they won't
- 9:25Speaker 5: be in the mix, like at the bye, like by
- 9:28Speaker 5: week eleven they're going to be out of it. I
- 9:30Speaker 5: don't feel like people think like that they weren't out
- 9:33Speaker 5: of it last year.
- 9:33Speaker 6: I think people think I think a lot of people
- 9:35Speaker 6: and you know, think that they're going to have a
- 9:38Speaker 6: worse record than last year and obviously would and not
- 9:42Speaker 6: be in the playoffs.
- 9:43Speaker 5: I don't know about the record itself. I don't think
- 9:46Speaker 5: people think they'll be as strong in the AFC as
- 9:49Speaker 5: they were last year because other teams, you know, the
- 9:51Speaker 5: Jets specifically, have improved. I think that would be more
- 9:56Speaker 5: accurate to say then, But I don't. Maybe I think
- 9:59Speaker 5: too much, And this is kind of me, you know,
- 10:02Speaker 5: surprising you, I'm sure for it. Maybe I think too
- 10:05Speaker 5: much of Bill Belichick to think that. I don't see
- 10:07Speaker 5: a scenario where they're out of it in week eleven.
- 10:10Speaker 5: I can't conjure up a scenario. I suppose, you never know,
- 10:14Speaker 5: you'd lose like ten guys, ten ten key starters to
- 10:18Speaker 5: injury and it falls apart. That could happen to anybody.
- 10:21Speaker 5: But I don't see a Bill Belichick coach team being
- 10:23Speaker 5: out like all right, completely out of the mix.
- 10:26Speaker 6: Well, let's look, let's talk about the schedule. Like, you know,
- 10:29Speaker 6: what did you think about the schedule as it was released?
- 10:31Speaker 6: You know a lot of people think that I think
- 10:33Speaker 6: it's that September is going to be really tough.
- 10:35Speaker 5: I think it's it's hard really kind of top to bottom.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Like there's a couple of games that they quote unquote
- 10:41Speaker 5: should win in the middle, like Washington and Indy.
- 10:46Speaker 4: I don't think there are a lot of layups.
- 10:47Speaker 6: I like Chargers here at one. That's a good that's
- 10:50Speaker 6: a good spot.
- 10:50Speaker 2: For the page.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree that if you had to play the Chargers,
- 10:54Speaker 5: that's the ideal time to play East Coast at one o'clock.
- 10:58Speaker 5: That's I agree with you. But that's gonna be a
- 11:00Speaker 5: tough game too.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I just think they're all tough, and like you look
- 11:02Speaker 3: at people, what do you think of the schedule, and
- 11:04Speaker 3: I'm like, every week is an absolute war. And that's
- 11:07Speaker 3: you know, where this team is at right now. I
- 11:09Speaker 3: think when you talk about, you know, expectations, it's just hard,
- 11:12Speaker 3: like because I think that they could be better than
- 11:14Speaker 3: they were last year, but it's still not enough to
- 11:16Speaker 3: crack that top seven, you know, to make the playoffs.
- 11:20Speaker 3: So starting to Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Mike, Mike, I think that they could be better and
- 11:26Speaker 5: not have a better record and not be higher in
- 11:29Speaker 5: the a FC, but they could be better and That's
- 11:31Speaker 5: why I think they have better play.
- 11:32Speaker 3: It just boils down to can they beat the good teams?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Can they beat the playoff team? Straight up?
- 11:36Speaker 4: This team's coming in. You know, they've got all their weapons.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I mean, and you know we're looking at the Chargers
- 11:40Speaker 3: right now on our screen, like you know, like I
- 11:43Speaker 3: still just hesitate to like, well, that's the Chargers. We've
- 11:45Speaker 3: always beat them, and you know, like I like, even
- 11:48Speaker 3: that would qualify for you know, a significant win I
- 11:50Speaker 3: think at this point with you know, just where they're at.
- 11:52Speaker 3: But I think that's what we've all come around to.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Bill O'Brien, how much can what.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Is the Chargers game?
- 11:57Speaker 5: That's that's sort.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Of late right that Yeah, that's that's a week. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 3: that's uh, the second game after the bye, so after
- 12:04Speaker 3: the bye week.
- 12:04Speaker 5: So it's the Chargers are in the midst Let's say
- 12:07Speaker 5: the Chargers are eight and four and the Patriots that's
- 12:11Speaker 5: a good win. Yeah, that's a that's a solid team
- 12:13Speaker 5: that's played well. Now we know the Chargers they just
- 12:16Speaker 5: as easily could be four and eight. You never know
- 12:18Speaker 5: what you're gonna get from them. They're as big a
- 12:21Speaker 5: trick or cheat team as there isn't the league.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, but I just don't have that feeling. And I
- 12:25Speaker 3: don't know if last year I had.
- 12:26Speaker 6: I gotta make a phone call. Be right back.
- 12:29Speaker 4: You can't leave.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Tell Taylor Swift what happened. Taylor calls Fred directly. She's
- 12:34Speaker 3: got she knows the line to the Boss Mansion.
- 12:35Speaker 5: In all seriousness, this this is like we would talk.
- 12:38Speaker 5: We had a big meeting before we do the show
- 12:41Speaker 5: every Tuesday, and we were talking about the Taylor Swift
- 12:44Speaker 5: stuff and Freddie and I have been around forever. This
- 12:48Speaker 5: nothing that compares to this in terms of like demand
- 12:52Speaker 5: just overall buzz. I've had a lot of people obviously
- 12:56Speaker 5: I'm sure everybody else has too, that try to get tickets,
- 12:59Speaker 5: and I have been able to get some. But there's
- 13:02Speaker 5: no such thing as a sellout, Like that's a you know,
- 13:06Speaker 5: a dirty little secret in the entertainment industry, whether it's
- 13:08Speaker 5: a sporting event or a concert, there's no such it's
- 13:11Speaker 5: always a ticket. There's an actual sellout. If you know
- 13:14Speaker 5: somebody and you ask the right person, you generally can
- 13:17Speaker 5: get a ticket. You can't get any tickets for this anymore,
- 13:23Speaker 5: like for all three nights.
- 13:24Speaker 9: And not only that, but like, I mean, we saw
- 13:27Speaker 9: what happened in Philly with like twenty thousand people.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Else was talking about that in.
- 13:31Speaker 9: The meeting to seeing and dance outside, and like we're
- 13:34Speaker 9: at the point where, Okay, we can't handle this. If
- 13:36Speaker 9: you don't have a ticket to this concert, you are
- 13:38Speaker 9: not getting into the parking lots because we just don't feasibly,
- 13:42Speaker 9: it just wouldn't work.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And on Root one, I'm kind of scared now, like
- 13:45Speaker 3: what time is. I was like get there early and
- 13:48Speaker 3: kind of thing, like you're not.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Going to tailgate a little bit. But I mean, you
- 13:51Speaker 4: know how much I mean, how much tech like I
- 13:54Speaker 4: got in me.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I'm I'd like a man to be around, you know,
- 13:57Speaker 5: from my wife and my nieces. Take sure that there's
- 14:00Speaker 5: no riff wrath. You know how those unruly Taylor Swift
- 14:03Speaker 5: I know, I know the Taylor Swift crowd. It can
- 14:05Speaker 5: be a rough crowd there. They're insane, but it'll be.
- 14:08Speaker 4: It should be fun.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I just you know, I hope it all goes smoothly
- 14:11Speaker 3: and everybody's able to get in and out.
- 14:13Speaker 4: But yeah, they're setting up outside.
- 14:15Speaker 8: It's uh, they're like rabbit the fan base.
- 14:17Speaker 9: I went to go get lunch up at the commons
- 14:20Speaker 9: up on the concourse that we have for employees, and
- 14:22Speaker 9: I was like, Oh, let me go check out where
- 14:24Speaker 9: my Taylor Swift seats are because the stadium is just empty.
- 14:26Speaker 8: It's a nice beautiful day. Get some vitamin D.
- 14:28Speaker 9: I just take a quick pan video of the view
- 14:31Speaker 9: from my seat and post it to TikTok, like ten
- 14:34Speaker 9: days till Taylor Swift. It did one hundred fifty thousand
- 14:37Speaker 9: views in like maybe five hours, just instantly blew up.
- 14:44Speaker 8: Comments.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I think you're given credit for the Taylor Swift. That's you,
- 14:47Speaker 4: that's you, that's that's you.
- 14:49Speaker 9: I don't know about that, yes, but it just it
- 14:51Speaker 9: just speaks to how again Rabbid her fan bases to
- 14:56Speaker 9: come see her, to take in any content she offers.
- 14:59Speaker 9: They support her in so many ways that it's just insane.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Do you think that I'd be curious because I like concerts,
- 15:06Speaker 3: but I'm not like one of those concerts are life,
- 15:08Speaker 3: And I know there are a lot of people out
- 15:09Speaker 3: there like concerts are life, and certainly there are people
- 15:11Speaker 3: that Taylor Swift like after the concert, do you get
- 15:13Speaker 3: that action? Because I just found it so hard. Yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 3: Like that's what I never feel like I got out
- 15:19Speaker 3: of a concert and was like that was amazing. You know,
- 15:22Speaker 3: it's just always like that's over, and I kind of
- 15:24Speaker 3: feel a little disappointed and.
- 15:26Speaker 9: Not I'm sad because I'm not in the moment do
- 15:28Speaker 9: you feel fulfilled?
- 15:29Speaker 5: But I find this really interesting because I'm not a
- 15:31Speaker 5: concert person, as you guys know, but just the differences
- 15:36Speaker 5: in experience that you you you both want to listen
- 15:39Speaker 5: to live music and you're interested in going, but you're
- 15:43Speaker 5: never really there's only been a couple of ID is
- 15:48Speaker 5: just depressed that it's over. She wants it to last longer, right, Yeah?
- 15:51Speaker 5: Is that accurate?
- 15:53Speaker 4: Interesting to me?
- 15:53Speaker 3: I would say eighty five percent of the concerts I've
- 15:56Speaker 3: been to, I'm ready for them to just be over
- 15:58Speaker 3: by the end. Like there's never been oh, just one
- 16:00Speaker 3: more song. I've never like, maybe once at the Greek
- 16:03Speaker 3: Theater in La which I just love because you could sit,
- 16:06Speaker 3: You're in a beautiful place. I saw, you know, a
- 16:07Speaker 3: band that I liked at the time, and it was
- 16:09Speaker 3: and it wasn't like a huge crowd rush. But I
- 16:12Speaker 3: know everybody there's you know, there's just people who love
- 16:14Speaker 3: concerts and it's like their whole life, and I don't
- 16:16Speaker 3: know that's never been quite neat as much as I like,
- 16:18Speaker 3: maybe I.
- 16:18Speaker 9: Haven't been to enough, and I like when I go
- 16:20Speaker 9: it's someone I really love their music, I really support them,
- 16:24Speaker 9: So maybe it's a little different.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Right at the end of a concert when you go
- 16:27Speaker 5: to do you go to concerts? I know you used
- 16:30Speaker 5: to blow off, like editing the paper to Eagles it
- 16:34Speaker 5: was Pink Floyd. Actually, no, it was the Eagles at Fenway.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Wasn't it take it easy?
- 16:37Speaker 6: No, it was staying. It was this police. It was
- 16:40Speaker 6: the police at Fenway.
- 16:44Speaker 5: It was the police that right there encapsulated Paul relationship police.
- 16:50Speaker 5: It was the police anyway, So it was game when
- 16:53Speaker 5: you had done well, okay, so those papers didn't matter.
- 16:56Speaker 5: I guess when you're done listening.
- 16:58Speaker 6: To the concert, you should know how to do it,
- 16:59Speaker 6: but they go ahead.
- 17:02Speaker 4: When you're done with.
- 17:02Speaker 5: The concert, do you have a feeling of like satisfaction,
- 17:07Speaker 5: that was great, that was exhilarating, or do you have
- 17:11Speaker 5: a feeling of sort of depression that the concert is
- 17:14Speaker 5: over and you wanted more or somewhere in between.
- 17:20Speaker 6: I don't know. I've never been to a concert where,
- 17:22Speaker 6: like I I think I walked out and was like, oh,
- 17:24Speaker 6: I wish there were more. Yeah, like I'm I'm kind
- 17:28Speaker 6: of like that's enough.
- 17:29Speaker 5: So you're more like Mike.
- 17:30Speaker 6: But but I'm exhilarated, but like, yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 5: You're probably more enthusiastic, but more like Mike. Whereas Alex
- 17:37Speaker 5: says a lot of times she leaves a concert and
- 17:39Speaker 5: she's bummed that it's over.
- 17:40Speaker 6: She like she wants more, she's hopped up on drugs.
- 17:43Speaker 4: That true.
- 17:43Speaker 8: I don't do drugs. Oh my god. We had Chris
- 17:46Speaker 8: gogloss Is going away party.
- 17:48Speaker 5: What was the bill anymore?
- 17:49Speaker 8: What was the bill?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Oh?
- 17:51Speaker 4: I don't think we could say, because I only drink.
- 17:53Speaker 8: Water the entire time.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Do not know.
- 17:56Speaker 8: I don't know. I used to drink. I used to
- 17:59Speaker 8: do that. I went to you, you know, like, yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 8: I used to drink.
- 18:02Speaker 4: I can't trust people.
- 18:03Speaker 6: It's just zoom ass they call it.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah it was.
- 18:06Speaker 6: But no, they had we had a going away thing
- 18:08Speaker 6: for one of our people, Chris, and I could only
- 18:12Speaker 6: stay for like the first forty five minutes, so I
- 18:14Speaker 6: gave I gave my card. I said, you know, just
- 18:16Speaker 6: put it on the card, so you know, ten o'clock
- 18:18Speaker 6: at night, I get a fraud alert, you know, so
- 18:22Speaker 6: and it was like, you know, for six hundred dollars
- 18:24Speaker 6: six drinks. I'm like, oh, okay, you know, I approve it.
- 18:28Speaker 6: The next day I see two postings each for over
- 18:31Speaker 6: eight hundred bucks. So the whole thing was over sixteen
- 18:34Speaker 6: hundred dollars. And like who showed up? Because when I
- 18:37Speaker 6: left there were like, you know, like twelve people.
- 18:39Speaker 3: I left there, five thirty had water and like three
- 18:42Speaker 3: could we like buy the whole bar drinks?
- 18:43Speaker 5: And before the call start coming in asking how many
- 18:47Speaker 5: mill of lights I had, I was not there. Yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 5: I had a lacrosse game for TJ, so I could
- 18:53Speaker 5: not attend. So I do not want to take any
- 18:55Speaker 5: blame for the sixteen hundred.
- 18:57Speaker 6: So Neil, our social media guy, wasn't ards in my
- 19:00Speaker 6: car and I said, so, you know who showed up?
- 19:02Speaker 6: He goes pr three people.
- 19:04Speaker 8: Stacey walked over. Stace Nicolette at first was in charge.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Of the card and she didn't want that retard and I.
- 19:10Speaker 9: Obviously were sitting next to each other and Stacy comes
- 19:13Speaker 9: over and it's like, hey, Nicolette, I heard who's who's
- 19:17Speaker 9: covering this?
- 19:18Speaker 8: And she's like, oh, I have Fred's card, and he's like, okay, cool.
- 19:21Speaker 8: I just wanted to make.
- 19:21Speaker 9: Sure like someone was in charge of the tab, like Stacy,
- 19:24Speaker 9: you just wanted to make sure this was free, right, right, right,
- 19:29Speaker 9: But it was.
- 19:31Speaker 5: That's ah, it's a big tab.
- 19:33Speaker 8: It didn't feel like that many people. It couldn't have been.
- 19:35Speaker 8: Don't feel more than twenty.
- 19:36Speaker 6: But you must have got a lot of food, right,
- 19:38Speaker 6: But I'm not complaining.
- 19:40Speaker 8: I didn't personally order anything.
- 19:42Speaker 6: I'm happy everybody had a good time. But I'm just a.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Little just washing her hands experience, Like how much.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Food did I had? Water?
- 19:51Speaker 8: There were a couple a couple of people ordered burgers
- 19:54Speaker 8: for themselves, and then there was like two things of
- 19:57Speaker 8: like those egg rolls. We had some wings.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah, there was a little app assortment at the table.
- 20:01Speaker 4: There was like a little this.
- 20:03Speaker 6: Way, like I don't know how many how many people
- 20:05Speaker 6: would you say, we're there under twenty Okay, let's say
- 20:08Speaker 6: there were sixteen people. That's a hundred bucks ahead.
- 20:12Speaker 8: They were drinking those seltzers.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I wonder if we got screwed, I would like it.
- 20:16Speaker 5: And if that's all the people that were in, I
- 20:19Speaker 5: was thinking there was a lot of other people.
- 20:21Speaker 8: I wasn't six o'clock too.
- 20:23Speaker 6: Oh so there was definitely people that stage.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I left before that.
- 20:27Speaker 5: But if there's twenty people, like one hundred bucks a person,
- 20:30Speaker 5: that's a lot.
- 20:31Speaker 9: People were really just drinking, like beers and seltzers. Who know,
- 20:33Speaker 9: one was really drinking. I think had a glass of
- 20:35Speaker 9: wine and just one and then because then.
- 20:36Speaker 6: It was there were two different charges, each for like
- 20:39Speaker 6: eight hundred and change.
- 20:40Speaker 8: I would look into it.
- 20:40Speaker 6: I guess what happened is.
- 20:41Speaker 4: I wonder they were supposed to be one eight hundred dollars.
- 20:44Speaker 6: No, no, no, I checked into it. They were in one
- 20:46Speaker 6: place in the bar, had to move them, so they
- 20:49Speaker 6: closed that one out and started a new one.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I would have been like, it's eight hundred bucks. I
- 20:53Speaker 3: think we're done.
- 20:54Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I figured when I got the first thing,
- 20:56Speaker 6: I was like, oh, okay, you know, but then it
- 20:58Speaker 6: was more than double.
- 20:59Speaker 5: But I've been part of many of those, unfortunately, because
- 21:02Speaker 5: we've lost a lot of good, good workers, you know,
- 21:04Speaker 5: good coworkers over the years. I don't remember like the
- 21:08Speaker 5: bill being sixteen hundred dollars. I don't remember a crowd
- 21:10Speaker 5: big enough for that's.
- 21:12Speaker 6: Yeah, that's more than an almost Yeah, So that was
- 21:17Speaker 6: that's kind of weird. Anyway, Well, after that great schedule
- 21:20Speaker 6: release video, you.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Know, Yeah, so the one thing about the schedule that
- 21:24Speaker 5: I you know, like I'm not a huge like you know,
- 21:27Speaker 5: oh thank god the schedules out now, you know, other
- 21:29Speaker 5: than professionally so we know what we're doing. I didn't
- 21:33Speaker 5: think there were any like really overly interesting sequences. You know.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Sometimes it's like, did you guys see the Giant schedule?
- 21:41Speaker 5: I think they have something like seven of their first
- 21:43Speaker 5: nine games around the road. It's like that's insane, Like.
- 21:47Speaker 6: There must be stuff going on at the stadium that
- 21:49Speaker 6: they had to avoid.
- 21:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I didn't, you know, I didn't look
- 21:53Speaker 5: into it that much. But like that's that to me
- 21:56Speaker 5: is going to be tough for the Giants to overcome.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Like I didn't the Patriots had anything like that, Like.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Well, they made three primetime in a row late in
- 22:05Speaker 6: the season. It is gonna be tough.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but why but a little bit of a break?
- 22:08Speaker 6: But why?
- 22:09Speaker 4: Why? But why is that tough? I don't know.
- 22:11Speaker 6: Enough because they're three primetime games in a row.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I mean, they had four in a row last year
- 22:16Speaker 5: scheduled and it help one of them but that's not
- 22:19Speaker 5: why never mind. Yeah, I mean like they didn't have
- 22:22Speaker 5: like a you know, four you know, four out of
- 22:24Speaker 5: five on the road in the middle of the season,
- 22:26Speaker 5: which can be really you know, a really tough stretch
- 22:30Speaker 5: or you know, you know, five games and twenty five
- 22:33Speaker 5: days kind of deal in the you know, I don't
- 22:35Speaker 5: I didn't like go back and look at it. I
- 22:37Speaker 5: didn't see anything like that.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Ever.
- 22:39Speaker 5: It seems pretty managed in those situations though with the
- 22:42Speaker 5: short weeks like pile up on top of each other
- 22:46Speaker 5: sometimes can make the spot of the game, yeah, more difficult.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I didn't see anything that made anything really easier for
- 22:52Speaker 5: the Patriots or harder. No, I just thought it was
- 22:54Speaker 5: a run of the mill. Yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 3: They only a little interesting thing which neither easier nor harder,
- 22:59Speaker 3: was just the all the division games were grouped together
- 23:02Speaker 3: in little two packs, you know, And that's why I
- 23:04Speaker 3: just thought was interesting. I always look at the AFC
- 23:06Speaker 3: East games first and how do those kind of match up,
- 23:09Speaker 3: and you know, it's a little bit more spread out,
- 23:10Speaker 3: but just all those are three different pockets of it.
- 23:12Speaker 5: And I didn't go back and look, I know, Mike,
- 23:14Speaker 5: Mike Reese wrote something about none none of the teams
- 23:17Speaker 5: that are playing are coming off of by. Sometimes those
- 23:20Speaker 5: little things can be factors where you know you're you're
- 23:24Speaker 5: facing a team coming off of by three or four times,
- 23:26Speaker 5: and that could could be an advantage, it could be
- 23:28Speaker 5: a disadvantage because sometimes teams coming off of bye or
- 23:31Speaker 5: rusty and they don't play well.
- 23:33Speaker 6: Yeah. I think they got a good draw playing the
- 23:36Speaker 6: Colts in Germany.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Yeah, Paul had a good point on that.
- 23:40Speaker 5: That's I mean, if you're a Patriots fan, I think
- 23:44Speaker 5: that's the game that you would have picked. Yeah, you know,
- 23:46Speaker 5: like I think I could make an argument for Washington, Indie,
- 23:51Speaker 5: New Olens. This is probably three of the weaker out
- 23:54Speaker 5: of the nine scheduled home opponents. But Washington and New
- 23:58Speaker 5: owns you don't get to regularly see Indy, you know,
- 24:01Speaker 5: they're here a lot.
- 24:03Speaker 10: Yea.
- 24:04Speaker 5: The only thing is if that's week ten or nine,
- 24:07Speaker 5: something like that. Yeah, Anthony Richardson will probably be playing
- 24:12Speaker 5: by that time. And I think, you know, if an
- 24:14Speaker 5: average fan you go to a game, I wouldn't mind
- 24:16Speaker 5: seeing him play.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 6: Sure, Yeah, Evan's here, Hey, Evans we go. Hey, what
- 24:26Speaker 6: did you think of the schedule? Evan?
- 24:28Speaker 4: Uh? I think that this year. What I found interesting
- 24:33Speaker 4: was that they did break up the west coast of
- 24:37Speaker 4: it all. You know, there's no Vegas Broncos double.
- 24:40Speaker 6: I was happy to back that. Yeah, I've had enough
- 24:42Speaker 6: of that long road.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Yeah, from what I understand, we asked for it to
- 24:47Speaker 5: break it up, No, to have oh really interesting. Oh
- 24:51Speaker 5: but that's that's unofficial buttons for Puny people that I've.
- 24:55Speaker 4: People I've talked to in the organization. Interesting.
- 24:59Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 24:59Speaker 4: I I went with Fred on that I felt like
- 25:02Speaker 4: there are too many trips last year, and especially when
- 25:04Speaker 4: you throw Germany in this year, that having another in
- 25:08Speaker 4: season week long escapade might have not been the best
- 25:11Speaker 4: for the team. But I think the main thing is
- 25:14Speaker 4: you look at this schedule. There's a lot of great
- 25:17Speaker 4: quarterbacks on the schedule, which we knew beforehand, but I
- 25:19Speaker 4: think just looking at it in order, it really shows
- 25:22Speaker 4: how many great quarterbacks they do play. And we did
- 25:24Speaker 4: our little schedule release video yesterday with me and Deuce,
- 25:27Speaker 4: and I think the biggest thing is you look at
- 25:29Speaker 4: that back half of the schedule and those games where
- 25:32Speaker 4: they're playing quarterbacks that aren't Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen
- 25:36Speaker 4: and Aaron Rodgers, there's a couple, you know, Daniel Jones,
- 25:38Speaker 4: Russell Wilson, will see what he ends up being and
- 25:42Speaker 4: who was the last one that I'm blanking on, but
- 25:45Speaker 4: back out how Sam Howell or whoever it is starting
- 25:47Speaker 4: for the Commanders. You know, those are games that I
- 25:49Speaker 4: feel like now the Patriots kind of are must wins
- 25:52Speaker 4: looking at the schedule, and you don't want to get
- 25:55Speaker 4: into a position certainly coming out of the gate too.
- 25:57Speaker 4: That's that's a tough four games to start with than
- 26:00Speaker 4: we know. Statistically, you start zero and two, you start
- 26:03Speaker 4: owing three, you can forget about it. I mean, even
- 26:06Speaker 4: though in two is a very difficult hole to get
- 26:08Speaker 4: out of. So they're gonna have to find a way
- 26:10Speaker 4: to at least split the first four games of the
- 26:13Speaker 4: season to really give themselves a chance.
- 26:15Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean, it's good that the first two games
- 26:17Speaker 6: are at home, but yeah, Miami Eagles, you're playing.
- 26:22Speaker 5: The Yeah, and the fact that you play in Miami
- 26:24Speaker 5: so early. And I know this is an awful thing
- 26:25Speaker 5: to say, but I don't mean it to be like
- 26:28Speaker 5: disrespectful and insensitive. But two was probably going to be healthy. Yeah, right,
- 26:32Speaker 5: It's only it's only week two. Whereas if you played
- 26:34Speaker 5: them week nine. The way he's been going for the
- 26:37Speaker 5: first quarter, you know, like you know, the chances of
- 26:40Speaker 5: him being healthy eight nine, ten games in a row
- 26:43Speaker 5: probably not as big. You know, the week two, you
- 26:46Speaker 5: know you're probably gonna have to face Miami close to
- 26:49Speaker 5: full strength.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Yeah, first like six d eight weeks of the season.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Last year, they had the best offense in football right
- 26:53Speaker 4: until he got hurt. So it's a it's a tough draw.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I think, Filly, youre out of the gate. I said
- 26:58Speaker 4: it last week. I think when we kind I heard
- 27:00Speaker 4: the rumors that that's what it was going to be.
- 27:01Speaker 4: We want to tell you, want to tell Fred what
- 27:03Speaker 4: you just said last week. It's a bad matchup. There's
- 27:06Speaker 4: no way they I didn't say there's no way they
- 27:09Speaker 4: can win that game. I said that I would be
- 27:11Speaker 4: surprised if they won that game.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Well, they definitely will go in as the underdog.
- 27:15Speaker 4: It's a really tough matchup.
- 27:17Speaker 6: You know, that's not a shocker.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Who are you picking?
- 27:20Speaker 6: We'll see how ty can't look.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Let me put you this way to be put to
- 27:28Speaker 4: put a positive spin on it. If the Patriots defense
- 27:31Speaker 4: goes out there and is very, very competitive against that
- 27:35Speaker 4: Eagles offense and the way that their personnel fits together.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I'm going to be really intrigued and optimistic about the
- 27:42Speaker 4: defense for the rest of the season. They can shut
- 27:44Speaker 4: down a guy like Jalen Hurts, who's that that type
- 27:47Speaker 4: of player at quarterback has killed them for a decade.
- 27:50Speaker 4: If they can go out there and and shut down
- 27:52Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts, then I think that defense is not, you know,
- 27:56Speaker 4: to Paul's point, is not the defense last year that
- 27:58Speaker 4: that got beat by most of the good quarterbacks that
- 28:00Speaker 4: they play. That's a defense that I can now stand
- 28:02Speaker 4: up to some of the better quid.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Flip it to the other side of the ball too.
- 28:05Speaker 3: If the offense can hold up against you know, that
- 28:07Speaker 3: Eagles front, you know, and all the pieces that they have,
- 28:09Speaker 3: and they've added that they are good test for you know,
- 28:12Speaker 3: maybe Riley Reef.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Yeah, we just talked to Riley Reef, and you know,
- 28:15Speaker 4: I was like, so, Hassan Reddick week one has that
- 28:18Speaker 4: you know. I know I didn't ask him that, but.
- 28:20Speaker 3: That didn't retire that.
- 28:21Speaker 4: That's something that you look at, you know, certainly with
- 28:24Speaker 4: both they have bookend rushers and then they have guys
- 28:26Speaker 4: on the inside too. So It's not like you can
- 28:28Speaker 4: chip and double all game long on those outside guys. Otherwise,
- 28:31Speaker 4: you know, Jordan Davis is gonna be Jordan.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Davis against Cold Strange. I mean, talk about a guy
- 28:35Speaker 3: that's gonna give cold Strange at least rookie cold Strange problems.
- 28:39Speaker 4: You know that with his son. They got Jalen Carter too.
- 28:41Speaker 4: So yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 5: So one other schedule note that we learned today is
- 28:47Speaker 5: that the preseason game in Tennessee is on Friday night,
- 28:52Speaker 5: twenty fifth. I want to say, yeah, so that's a
- 28:57Speaker 5: little bit of good news because there was some I
- 28:59Speaker 5: mean for us, let me, I understand the fans don't care.
- 29:02Speaker 5: There was talking originally that that was going to be
- 29:04Speaker 5: a Saturday night game. Yeah, so it's going to be
- 29:06Speaker 5: Friday night.
- 29:07Speaker 4: I think there's still a Proach Engstein concert going on here. Yeah, no,
- 29:10Speaker 4: not till Saturday Thursday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday night. That's weird.
- 29:14Speaker 6: What do we think about for you?
- 29:15Speaker 5: And if you're coming, I.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Was thinking, I go out for a little you know,
- 29:18Speaker 3: born to run and you'll pump my head out if
- 29:20Speaker 3: if we had the chance.
- 29:21Speaker 5: I just meant like postgame, being able to actually drive home, right,
- 29:24Speaker 5: it's it's a night, that's a game change.
- 29:26Speaker 6: What do we think about the Brady announcement that week
- 29:29Speaker 6: the season opener will be Brady halftime.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Well, I had to talk a few people off the
- 29:35Speaker 3: ledge because I think people didn't hear like this is
- 29:37Speaker 3: just the beginning of it, and you know that's it.
- 29:40Speaker 6: We did.
- 29:41Speaker 5: We did talk about I think they should do.
- 29:43Speaker 6: More, said this is the first of many.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I went on the New England Football Journal podcast last
- 29:50Speaker 3: night with those guys and they asked me a question
- 29:52Speaker 3: about it, and Kevin Stone, who's you know, great guy,
- 29:55Speaker 3: covered this the team around here a lot. He was like,
- 29:57Speaker 3: you know, Mike, like, I just remember going back to
- 29:59Speaker 3: you know, when Larry Bird and they had this set
- 30:01Speaker 3: and he starts like kind of describing the Larry Bird
- 30:02Speaker 3: thing to me, and I was like, look like I
- 30:05Speaker 3: can't really say anything, but just trust me. Everybody understands
- 30:08Speaker 3: that this is Tom Brady and that halftime is not
- 30:11Speaker 3: going to just cut it with and there he is. Okay,
- 30:12Speaker 3: get him off the field. We got to play the second.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Like everybody understand. Only way something like that would end
- 30:17Speaker 3: up being it is if that is specifically the only
- 30:21Speaker 3: way that Tom will do it right, he doesn't want
- 30:23Speaker 3: because I can promise you that the organization wants to
- 30:26Speaker 3: do it quote unquote right, oh.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. I like that it's in week one. I look,
- 30:31Speaker 4: I love Tom Brady. I'm glad he's coming back. I'm
- 30:35Speaker 4: I'm going to be there and we're all going to
- 30:37Speaker 4: be happy about it. But just spinning it to actual football.
- 30:41Speaker 4: I remember that Bucks game and it was in week four,
- 30:44Speaker 4: and it felt like the whole first month of the
- 30:46Speaker 4: season was just all about building up to week four.
- 30:49Speaker 4: So in week one, I think it's good you get
- 30:51Speaker 4: it out of the way. It doesn't linger into your
- 30:53Speaker 4: season as something that you know is going to come
- 30:56Speaker 4: down the pipeline, and you kind of move on from
- 30:58Speaker 4: it quickly. And I feel like the head coach might
- 31:01Speaker 4: have influenced to say, hey, let's not do this like
- 31:04Speaker 4: in the middle of the year. Let's do this right
- 31:05Speaker 4: out of the gate and get it over with respectfully.
- 31:08Speaker 6: And you know, like I'm sure the fans, well, there'll
- 31:12Speaker 6: be some carryover from the ceremony, but it's at halftime
- 31:16Speaker 6: and the team is in the locker room. They don't
- 31:17Speaker 6: have to like sit there and watch it. It's not
- 31:19Speaker 6: like pregame or anything like that. So I don't I
- 31:22Speaker 6: think it'll have minimal effect on, you know, the players themselves,
- 31:26Speaker 6: which some people said was kind of a worry that,
- 31:29Speaker 6: oh Brady's gonna overshadow and Max's gonna you know, it's
- 31:32Speaker 6: going to affect Mac. I don't think it should.
- 31:35Speaker 5: I agree with you. Yeah, no, I don't think it
- 31:37Speaker 5: has anything to do with the current team.
- 31:38Speaker 9: If anything, it should just be motivation to uphold the
- 31:40Speaker 9: tradition we have here. And yeah, like I don't know,
- 31:43Speaker 9: it's not like no one's jersey's been retired during a
- 31:46Speaker 9: game or no one's had a ceremony before.
- 31:48Speaker 6: What did you think about? So the announcement comes out,
- 31:50Speaker 6: Robert Craft announced it on Good Morning Football, and then
- 31:53Speaker 6: maybe a day later or a couple of days later
- 31:56Speaker 6: it was revealed or was that night. There's a report
- 31:59Speaker 6: that he's in talks with Vegas to be part owner.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I I mean, based on what you've
- 32:04Speaker 3: heard from the Raiders about their money situation, and I'm
- 32:07Speaker 3: sure Tom Brady he got some money, so I I mean,
- 32:10Speaker 3: it kind of makes sense from a business standpoint to me.
- 32:12Speaker 3: It seems like he wants to be involved at that
- 32:14Speaker 3: level of the NFL.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I mean, he poked around with Miami to the point
- 32:18Speaker 5: where the Dolphins got in trouble over it. And I
- 32:21Speaker 5: think Mark Davis is I don't think he's not married.
- 32:24Speaker 5: He has no children, Like, there's no heirs to the
- 32:27Speaker 5: throne here, like you know, is maybe that a well
- 32:31Speaker 5: chosen owner to try to siddle up with He just
- 32:35Speaker 5: I mean, I know that it's not the same, but
- 32:36Speaker 5: he just bought a steak in the the w NBA
- 32:39Speaker 5: team right in Vegas.
- 32:40Speaker 6: Oh did he?
- 32:41Speaker 4: Right?
- 32:42Speaker 5: Alex the w NBA talk Because I'm a mail but
- 32:49Speaker 5: I mean, I think it makes a little.
- 32:50Speaker 6: I don't think it's interesting though, because all right, let's
- 32:52Speaker 6: just say he becomes the owner of Vegas. What happens
- 32:55Speaker 6: to his broadcasting career? You can't have a part owner
- 32:57Speaker 6: of well, there was already laying an objective. But like
- 33:00Speaker 6: a week ago or two weeks ago, Andrew Mashant had
- 33:05Speaker 6: a I think New York Post the story saying that
- 33:08Speaker 6: he is hearing that there's a very good chance that
- 33:10Speaker 6: he will never do it. I said that the minute
- 33:12Speaker 6: they signed he signed that off. Yeah, he'll never do it.
- 33:17Speaker 6: But then you know, beyond that, so he's got this
- 33:19Speaker 6: Brady brand, which he doesn't want just people from Vegas buying.
- 33:23Speaker 6: Does it hurt his marketing, you know, to the world
- 33:27Speaker 6: if he's part owner of an individual team. I don't know.
- 33:30Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 33:31Speaker 3: It seems like I mean, and this is kind of
- 33:32Speaker 3: goes back to the last couple of years with his
- 33:34Speaker 3: career where he just kind of felt like he's been
- 33:36Speaker 3: wishy washy on all lot of stuff, and he's in
- 33:37Speaker 3: on things and then out on things, and you know,
- 33:40Speaker 3: even with players like I'd like.
- 33:42Speaker 5: To see the numbers on the Brady thing, on the TV.
- 33:44Speaker 6: Twelve thing, Yeah, I would. Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:46Speaker 5: I wonder if that's d.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Is he trying to unload it?
- 33:48Speaker 6: Is that maybe? Yeah, it could be speaking of numbers
- 33:53Speaker 6: and this is just off topic. You just made me
- 33:56Speaker 6: think of it. Everybody likes the new rules in Major
- 33:58Speaker 6: League Baseball. How is it affecting ratings? Because everyone said
- 34:02Speaker 6: and more people gonna watch. But I don't hear MLB
- 34:04Speaker 6: coming out and say, look at the ratings, and that's
- 34:06Speaker 6: always a red flat to me that they're not that
- 34:08Speaker 6: much better than last year.
- 34:10Speaker 5: That's a good question. I don't have the answer.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Have you watched any of the Paul, because I know
- 34:14Speaker 3: you're like kind of out on them.
- 34:15Speaker 6: I watch almost every game Red Sox that I can't.
- 34:17Speaker 5: I don't watch a ton, but I am every night
- 34:20Speaker 5: like I always watch the Red Sox kind of the
- 34:22Speaker 5: same way since you know, since they started winning championships.
- 34:25Speaker 5: And I got that because I mean there was a
- 34:27Speaker 5: time where I was a psychotic. But I watch now
- 34:30Speaker 5: in passing and I will click it on to see
- 34:32Speaker 5: what the story of the game is, because that's the
- 34:35Speaker 5: beauty of baseballs. You don't have to sit there and
- 34:37Speaker 5: watch every pitch to know the story of the game.
- 34:40Speaker 5: And it's amazing. Every time I do it. It'll be
- 34:44Speaker 5: like in the commercial of one of my random sitcoms
- 34:46Speaker 5: that I'm watching Mike, and it's like the top of
- 34:48Speaker 5: the seventh inning, like you look, it's like nine to ten,
- 34:52Speaker 5: and it's the game's almost over. It's it's working. Now Again,
- 34:56Speaker 5: I'm not the target audience because I'm not watching every
- 34:59Speaker 5: game the way a lot of people do. But I mean,
- 35:02Speaker 5: in terms of the times of the game, it's absolutely
- 35:04Speaker 5: But have ratings.
- 35:05Speaker 11: Improved that scene They've improved seven percent since last year.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Okay, seven percent that's good, and it's also not yet
- 35:13Speaker 5: at a time. I mean, is that I wonder if
- 35:15Speaker 5: that is.
- 35:15Speaker 6: Is that here or overall that year.
- 35:17Speaker 4: That's overall MLB? Each team is showing different numbers?
- 35:20Speaker 5: Is that from last year to this point? So it's
- 35:24Speaker 5: year to year over year?
- 35:25Speaker 4: Because the Yankees are up nine percent?
- 35:26Speaker 5: Because I do think it's it's interesting that, you know,
- 35:30Speaker 5: like for Boston as an example, the Bruins got knocked out,
- 35:33Speaker 5: the Celtics are still going strong. That's got to cut
- 35:36Speaker 5: into the Red Sox ratings. People haven't turned their complete
- 35:39Speaker 5: attention to the Red Sox yet, not to.
- 35:40Speaker 9: Mention watching the Red Sox is more difficult with the
- 35:43Speaker 9: nests in three sixty and the packages you have to have.
- 35:46Speaker 6: I haven't did anything. I get all the games.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he's just talking about streaming and stuff like that.
- 35:52Speaker 8: I don't have cable, so I, oh, you don't have cable.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know you don't want to pay
- 35:56Speaker 4: for anything.
- 35:57Speaker 8: You know I pay for plenty of trust me.
- 36:00Speaker 5: No, the I think there's like one game, right, it's
- 36:03Speaker 5: like a Friday. There's like random Friday Night on Apple TV.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Yeah, that doesn't happen very often.
- 36:08Speaker 5: It's but most of the games are on regular You
- 36:11Speaker 5: don't have regular nesson.
- 36:12Speaker 4: No because she doesn't have cable. She streams and he's
- 36:20Speaker 4: not on like FU and stuff like that. Actually, I
- 36:23Speaker 4: take that back. It is on Fubo. It's not on
- 36:27Speaker 4: on YouTube TV anymore, I don't think, right. Yeah, so
- 36:30Speaker 4: all these people have been telling me to cut the.
- 36:35Speaker 6: And then you build back up to what you're on
- 36:37Speaker 6: and eventually you get to where you were paying comcasts.
- 36:40Speaker 3: But you just never know. That's what it sounds like
- 36:41Speaker 3: to me, that one channel you want, you know, like
- 36:43Speaker 3: that one channel you're like.
- 36:45Speaker 9: Oh my mom got rid of cable. My stepdad is
- 36:48Speaker 9: three months later beside himself still.
- 36:49Speaker 6: Plus he's really good white because of all.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Of the channels.
- 36:54Speaker 4: But you're right white like nessing. To me, that would
- 36:56Speaker 4: be a deal breaker.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Like I watched I watched the Bruins, I watched the
- 37:00Speaker 5: the Red Sox. You know, I need lessen.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Charlie Moore, Uh, we watch a lot of baseball
- 37:06Speaker 4: in our house. And at first in April, the new
- 37:09Speaker 4: pace of play was fantastic. I was like, oh, this
- 37:12Speaker 4: is great, Like this is exactly what you want now
- 37:15Speaker 4: that we're you know, in mid may the the newness
- 37:19Speaker 4: of it is sort of worn off a little bit
- 37:21Speaker 4: where I'm starting to feel like games are missed, the
- 37:23Speaker 4: game are dragging, but they.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Still feel like they're they're over quick. They're not, they
- 37:27Speaker 5: are but even last night it's.
- 37:30Speaker 4: It's certainly way, way, way better than it used to be.
- 37:32Speaker 4: But I just think now I'm like, this is becoming
- 37:35Speaker 4: the norm, right, so now it's it's yeah, did you
- 37:40Speaker 4: watch the last thing last night with a position guy pitch?
- 37:42Speaker 4: I think now we turned it off. At that point, I.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Was literally throwing in the forties.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's throwing pitches up there. I think the
- 37:51Speaker 4: biggest thing for baseball now that this is a baseball show.
- 37:53Speaker 4: But and Mike and Paul you have you know, kids,
- 37:55Speaker 4: and that are that Like my cousins could not watch
- 37:59Speaker 4: a second of baseball, Like and my cousin, you know,
- 38:01Speaker 4: they're they're teenagers. And my cousin played baseball in high
- 38:05Speaker 4: school four years on varsity at Hoffington High shout out
- 38:09Speaker 4: and uh yeah, Hiller's and he doesn't watch the second
- 38:12Speaker 4: of it. I'm like, what do you you play in college?
- 38:14Speaker 4: You're you're a baseball player.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Like, the only time my kids watch it is if
- 38:18Speaker 5: they go yeah, like every one so, and they were gonna,
- 38:20Speaker 5: my will was gonna go Sunday night because I guess
- 38:22Speaker 5: they have tickets for high school kids that are like
- 38:24Speaker 5: eight bucks. So a bunch of a bunch of his boys.
- 38:28Speaker 4: We're gonna go in.
- 38:29Speaker 5: And then we're like, you know what, by the time
- 38:30Speaker 5: the selicks are over and you get all the way in,
- 38:33Speaker 5: it's not gonna work, right. So they ended up not
- 38:35Speaker 5: doing it. But that's the only time that either one
- 38:38Speaker 5: of my kids watches the game as if they go.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's a that's their big problem. But I
- 38:42Speaker 4: think with the pace of play they're trying. I think
- 38:44Speaker 4: what baseball needs to recognize is that it's got a
- 38:47Speaker 4: certain demographic that it's always gonna have because we're all
- 38:50Speaker 4: gonna watch baseball. But just you kind of have to
- 38:53Speaker 4: forget about trying to appeal to the kids. Like the
- 38:56Speaker 4: kids are just not gonna watch it.
- 38:57Speaker 6: They can't forget or else they're dead. They're gonna figure
- 39:00Speaker 6: it out.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Watching it as a kid. It's hard to imagine all
- 39:03Speaker 5: of a sudden when they're forty they just say, you
- 39:05Speaker 5: know what, I'm gonna stop watching.
- 39:06Speaker 4: It, right right, But you know. They The reason why
- 39:09Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of sports like that do
- 39:11Speaker 4: appeal to kids, appeal to kids is because you know,
- 39:13Speaker 4: the highlights right on TikTok on Twitter, Like you're scrolling
- 39:17Speaker 4: on your phone and there here's this Jason Tatum dunk, right,
- 39:20Speaker 4: and then you just watch the ten seconds of the
- 39:21Speaker 4: you know what I mean. But with baseball, they just
- 39:24Speaker 4: do do not do a great job as a league
- 39:27Speaker 4: of playing into that. And I think a lot of
- 39:30Speaker 4: the problem is that some of their players are on
- 39:32Speaker 4: obscure teams that nobody cares about. Like, you know, the
- 39:35Speaker 4: best player in maybe all of sports is show Heyo Tani.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Nobody is better than that guy in terms of what
- 39:41Speaker 4: he can do on a baseball field. And he plays
- 39:43Speaker 4: for the Angels in the middle of nowhere in Anaheim,
- 39:46Speaker 4: and and there's no fan fa with another superstar who's
- 39:50Speaker 4: also died in Anaheim, and there's no it's on the
- 39:53Speaker 4: West Coast, it's it's you know, ten o'clock is there
- 39:56Speaker 4: is their first pitch most nights, and nobody's an Angel
- 40:00Speaker 4: fans like, there's no fan base regardless.
- 40:02Speaker 3: And hockey's got similar problems with you know, Edmonton being
- 40:05Speaker 3: on it. What last game was ten pm?
- 40:07Speaker 4: The game, right, but at least that was that. But
- 40:11Speaker 4: at least in Edmonton, the fans are rabbit, you know,
- 40:14Speaker 4: are crazy about the Oilers because it's Canada, it's hockey.
- 40:17Speaker 4: But when I lived out in l A. And I
- 40:19Speaker 4: know you lived out there much longer than I did, Like,
- 40:21Speaker 4: did anybody talk about the Angel La.
- 40:22Speaker 9: Talk about any other sports the Red Sox were in town.
- 40:25Speaker 4: There's Lakers, Dodgers, Lakers.
- 40:28Speaker 8: Dodge like in a playoff run though no.
- 40:30Speaker 4: No, no, no, Lakers, Lakers Dodgers is there's.
- 40:33Speaker 8: Always Lakers are legit? Are there really rabid? I don't know. Dodgers, well,
- 40:38Speaker 8: they have like regular season game.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Like early, but they do care. Yeah, if that makes sense.
- 40:44Speaker 4: The only difference I would say about the Lakers and
- 40:46Speaker 4: the Dodgers was that when I would go to Dodgers
- 40:49Speaker 4: Red Sox games, Boston would take over the park. When
- 40:52Speaker 4: you go to the point when you go to Celtics
- 40:54Speaker 4: Lakers games, you're outnumbered significantly by the Lakers. And actually
- 40:57Speaker 4: it's it was to the point where it was it's
- 41:00Speaker 4: almost hard to get tickets to Celtics Lakers.
- 41:02Speaker 5: That's the difference to Yeah, it's the size of the buildings.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Clippers like Celtics was. You know, you could walk in
- 41:08Speaker 4: and get a ticket right, go right over to the right.
- 41:10Speaker 4: But when in terms of you know, real passion, I
- 41:13Speaker 4: think you got it. It's the Lakers for sure.
- 41:15Speaker 6: All right, lots of stuff on the table. Web radio
- 41:19Speaker 6: at patries dot com is the email address. Let's start
- 41:21Speaker 6: with the emails because we usually start with calls, but
- 41:23Speaker 6: we'll start with the emails today. This one caught my eye.
- 41:29Speaker 6: For those who remember Eric, this is from Alec who
- 41:35Speaker 6: was from Plymouth, mass via the UK, San Antonio, New Zealand,
- 41:39Speaker 6: Australia and Delaware. I guess I started following your show
- 41:43Speaker 6: just before leaving Australia for Germany in May twenty one.
- 41:47Speaker 6: Eric Scalavino was still part of the lineup, and boy,
- 41:50Speaker 6: it did not take long the first five minutes of
- 41:52Speaker 6: the show to realize that Eric is and was the
- 41:54Speaker 6: pompous one, somewhat inflated sense of self and for no
- 41:57Speaker 6: particular reason, owing to any not owing to any noteworthy accomplishments.
- 42:02Speaker 6: He has come up a lot lately in your show,
- 42:04Speaker 6: so I decided to see what he's been up to
- 42:05Speaker 6: these days. It's not immediately apparent what he is doing
- 42:09Speaker 6: from his LinkedIn page, but my eyes were drawn to
- 42:12Speaker 6: two things. First, he gloats writing has become prominent in
- 42:15Speaker 6: my career, in which I consider myself an artist who
- 42:18Speaker 6: frequently paints with words, which to me is ironic. This
- 42:21Speaker 6: is me talking because when he paints, he paints by numbers,
- 42:24Speaker 6: so anyway, so eloquent. But then again his name. He
- 42:28Speaker 6: named his animal charity Nutmeg. Second, it appears he has
- 42:31Speaker 6: run out of paint, as LinkedIn tells the visitor that
- 42:34Speaker 6: Eric hasn't posted lately ten months. I guess the great
- 42:37Speaker 6: artist is awaiting his muse. I must admit I do
- 42:40Speaker 6: miss Eric on the show, but only for the comedic
- 42:42Speaker 6: gold that he brought into his banter with Fred and
- 42:46Speaker 6: Paul as the butt of their piss takes. In this sense,
- 42:50Speaker 6: I do miss the scale character, especially during the off
- 42:53Speaker 6: season on the football side of things, where Eric was absent.
- 42:56Speaker 6: The addition of Evan has been great. His character is
- 43:00Speaker 6: definitely that of a no nonsense x'es and o's guys,
- 43:04Speaker 6: but he's been showing more of his personality lately. As
- 43:07Speaker 6: for Alex and Tamara, I'm still waiting to see how
- 43:09Speaker 6: they're on air. Personas will develop. So there you go,
- 43:14Speaker 6: there's a little Eric update.
- 43:15Speaker 3: You want to take over. You hate Tom Brady, you
- 43:17Speaker 3: can have that one for me if you want. You
- 43:18Speaker 3: could be the Tom Brady resident. Tom Brady hater.
- 43:21Speaker 8: My dog's named Brady.
- 43:23Speaker 5: But nobody would do that.
- 43:24Speaker 8: Well, we have.
- 43:25Speaker 9: Listeners that are stalking people's LinkedIn to see so they
- 43:27Speaker 9: would go to my Instagram, they would see Brady.
- 43:30Speaker 8: It would instantly get through.
- 43:31Speaker 4: What was the line that Eric grot in his bio
- 43:33Speaker 4: on LinkedIn? He's an artist with people think I.
- 43:39Speaker 5: Have, Yeah, you don't even know how to spell you.
- 43:47Speaker 3: I mean, I will say Eric is a really good writer,
- 43:48Speaker 3: though you know, like's it's one thing like he certainly
- 43:51Speaker 3: that's a little bit much. But but he's doing well.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I I had I gotta get together with him. We've
- 43:56Speaker 3: been texting a little bit. We've talked about maybe going
- 43:58Speaker 3: down to Providence Salmon some breakfast something. But I know
- 44:01Speaker 3: he did really well on Fiver. He got he was like,
- 44:03Speaker 3: you know, part of like a writing program among amongst Fiver.
- 44:07Speaker 3: That's like kind of next level, I think, And he
- 44:10Speaker 3: was like writing speeches for people and doing all kinds
- 44:12Speaker 3: of writing.
- 44:12Speaker 4: And now I know he's working.
- 44:13Speaker 3: At a hospital in Great Rhode Island and loving life.
- 44:16Speaker 2: That's exassance man.
- 44:26Speaker 6: Oh yeah yeah, just ask him. Duncan in Boston, UK,
- 44:30Speaker 6: Isaiah Winn has left the building for a shot with
- 44:33Speaker 6: the Patriots reserve team known as the Miami Dolphins. When
- 44:37Speaker 6: flattered to deceive, he was never all in a waste
- 44:40Speaker 6: of talent who appeared to prefer doing anything but actually
- 44:43Speaker 6: playing football. Good riddance. The Patriots' schedule appears is tough,
- 44:48Speaker 6: a tough one, especially early season matchups Denver away on
- 44:51Speaker 6: Christmas Eve is an absolute shocker. What a great idea
- 44:54Speaker 6: of sending them to the West Coast. Well, somebody had
- 44:57Speaker 6: to go. Surely a matchup.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Against coast they could have had, like Vegas go. That's
- 45:01Speaker 4: a brutal beat.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Surely a matchup against an East Coast team would have
- 45:05Speaker 6: been more logical. A totally crappy NFL decision, not gonna
- 45:09Speaker 6: blow smoke up your asses. You all know you all
- 45:12Speaker 6: make Patriots unfiltered gray keep being great. So that's Duncan
- 45:15Speaker 6: in Boston, UK.
- 45:17Speaker 4: I appreciate Duncan understanding how ridiculous Christmas, even primetime on
- 45:21Speaker 4: the road is on the West Coast, I thank you,
- 45:23Speaker 4: duncan do we know is.
- 45:24Speaker 3: That flexible or not? Do we ever come to us
- 45:26Speaker 3: as I've asked.
- 45:27Speaker 5: I've asked a few people, and our assumption is that
- 45:33Speaker 5: it's not flexible, but nobody knows for sure. Everybody is
- 45:36Speaker 5: quick to say, I don't know the answer to that
- 45:39Speaker 5: with certainty. So because if it, if it's flexible, I
- 45:44Speaker 5: think there's a really good chance of that game gets flexed.
- 45:47Speaker 5: But I don't. It's not a Sunday night football game.
- 45:51Speaker 5: It's a game that's being played on Sunday night.
- 45:54Speaker 4: I gotcha.
- 45:54Speaker 5: It's on NFL network.
- 45:55Speaker 4: It's a special it's a special occasion. So I'm not
- 45:58Speaker 4: positive for ruining our holiday. And I know, yeah, your
- 46:01Speaker 4: special occasion, I believe me. I yeah it is. Now,
- 46:06Speaker 4: wait aren't they playing on the first side of I can't.
- 46:09Speaker 5: I can't even explain to you how disappointed I am
- 46:11Speaker 5: about it. I really can't.
- 46:12Speaker 4: I actually don't even know what hankakah is anymore. I
- 46:15Speaker 4: just I've been and turned to the dark line.
- 46:19Speaker 5: Like I was figured. Like obviously there's a full slate
- 46:21Speaker 5: of games on Christmas Eve, so I knew we were
- 46:23Speaker 5: going to have for the second year in a row,
- 46:24Speaker 5: game on Christmas Eve. But I didn't think they I
- 46:27Speaker 5: didn't think they would have a night game. Yeah on
- 46:29Speaker 5: Destmas Eve.
- 46:30Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, it was like one o'clock.
- 46:32Speaker 5: It doesn't matter where it is. If they play at
- 46:33Speaker 5: eight fifteen, you don't have any Christmas Eve, right, doesn't
- 46:36Speaker 5: matter if it's here or New York or Denver.
- 46:39Speaker 4: I'm just gonna get home on Christmas Day morning and
- 46:43Speaker 4: just go right to the tree and be like, all.
- 46:44Speaker 6: Right, let's I'll be coming in hot with Santa.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Yeah, here we go.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Put together present when you get in Sean and Vancouver.
- 46:51Speaker 6: I agree that the Patriots should be better. My expectations
- 46:54Speaker 6: are not as high because the rest of the AFC,
- 46:56Speaker 6: and especially AFC East, are better. I am predicting so wins,
- 47:00Speaker 6: but the Patriots are a better team than twenty twenty two.
- 47:03Speaker 6: The schedule is very challenging. I don't see any gimmes.
- 47:06Speaker 6: I'm more likely to pencil in losses than wins. My
- 47:09Speaker 6: real hope is that mac Jones looks better and the
- 47:12Speaker 6: team can grow in twenty twenty four.
- 47:15Speaker 4: So that's what's funny.
- 47:16Speaker 3: I mean, I think last year we all ak. You know,
- 47:17Speaker 3: you're just hoping that no matter how that season kind
- 47:20Speaker 3: of went that or maybe this was even more the
- 47:22Speaker 3: rookie year, you just wanted to feel like there was
- 47:25Speaker 3: some hope.
- 47:25Speaker 4: We talk about you know that season Paul with with.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Bledsoe that you know, like they won what a bunch
- 47:30Speaker 3: of games down the stretch, and you.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Felt like they had the makings of something.
- 47:33Speaker 3: And I feel like these last two seasons are the
- 47:35Speaker 3: furthest thing from that. The last two seasons have ended,
- 47:38Speaker 3: You're like, thank God, it's over. Like they got nothing
- 47:40Speaker 3: this year. You know, there was no real like excitement
- 47:42Speaker 3: to carry over from them. Maybe that's why I've got
- 47:44Speaker 3: that excitement now.
- 47:45Speaker 5: And that's why I agree with the way that email
- 47:48Speaker 5: based on the way we talked at the beginning, Like
- 47:50Speaker 5: I think that they could win seven games and you
- 47:53Speaker 5: feel better about the team than we did last year. Yeah,
- 47:56Speaker 5: Like to Fred's point, where you're looking at them potentially
- 47:59Speaker 5: mach up better against some of the higher level competition,
- 48:03Speaker 5: and if that happens and mac Jones looks better, the
- 48:06Speaker 5: offense looks better, and they just appear more competitive in
- 48:10Speaker 5: those situations, I think you can live with the fact
- 48:14Speaker 5: that Okay, they didn't make the playoffs and they didn't
- 48:17Speaker 5: have as many wins asy did last year, but they're
- 48:18Speaker 5: hitting in the right direction.
- 48:19Speaker 9: The arrow was pointing up, especially with the quarterbacks we
- 48:22Speaker 9: played last year, like maybe we squeezed out more wins,
- 48:25Speaker 9: but okay, it's a third string quarterback that's not gonna.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Year probably will with that many what happens. Everyone negative,
- 48:35Speaker 4: but he he's negative with a smile on his face.
- 48:38Speaker 4: So it just comes off different than I have no
- 48:41Speaker 4: hope about this team.
- 48:42Speaker 5: Steph Gilmour.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Yeah right, Oh, he's so.
- 48:47Speaker 5: He's trash talker like most of those corners.
- 48:50Speaker 3: He doesn't say anything about because I know I'm about
- 48:53Speaker 3: to you know, I'm about to put the seeds out,
- 48:54Speaker 3: like you know, I'm about to fertilize the field, and
- 48:57Speaker 3: you guys are all.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Going to know.
- 48:58Speaker 5: But I think that you know, like Kevan talked about
- 49:00Speaker 5: that Philly game, you go into Philly and that's an
- 49:02Speaker 5: offense that's a little different, can be high powered if
- 49:07Speaker 5: you look better against a mobile quarterback and maybe confuse
- 49:10Speaker 5: him a little bit, and you know, don't allow you know,
- 49:13Speaker 5: Smith and Brown to really control like that'll be really
- 49:17Speaker 5: they might lose the game because the other team's just better, right,
- 49:19Speaker 5: they have better players, but they're competitive against it.
- 49:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I think as we're talking about this more, it's coming,
- 49:24Speaker 3: like our earlier conversation about how you feel, it's coming
- 49:27Speaker 3: clearer to me, and I feel like I just I
- 49:29Speaker 3: want to feel good about the young guys, you know,
- 49:30Speaker 3: Like I want to come out of the season feeling like,
- 49:33Speaker 3: you know, just as an example, not saying like these
- 49:35Speaker 3: are the guys, but if you're to come out of
- 49:36Speaker 3: the season and say, Wow, Taekwon Thornton's we've got we
- 49:39Speaker 3: got something going there, you know, if you could say
- 49:40Speaker 3: Thornton to Mario Douglas and Christian Goanzalez and you say
- 49:43Speaker 3: those three guys and problems, you know. But I'm just
- 49:47Speaker 3: I'm throwing a random you know, I mean a random
- 49:49Speaker 3: little like wow, out of nowhere. This kid, he's a
- 49:51Speaker 3: nice little slot receiver that's gonna play.
- 49:53Speaker 5: Like I think that's that's what you're looking for, is like,
- 49:58Speaker 5: can we can we get a significant jump from a
- 50:00Speaker 5: guy who you know was a young player, Like I
- 50:04Speaker 5: think Borton's a great pick with that got it, got
- 50:07Speaker 5: it too well.
- 50:08Speaker 4: If he doesn't, if he doesn't do well, then they'd
- 50:10Speaker 4: really need to again reassess how they assessed that position
- 50:14Speaker 4: and how they coach that position, because at some point
- 50:17Speaker 4: you have to think about development. And you know, I
- 50:20Speaker 4: know Nikhil Harry probably was never going to be a
- 50:22Speaker 4: great player, but he certainly could have given you more
- 50:25Speaker 4: than what he gave you on his rookie contract. And
- 50:27Speaker 4: then if Tykwon Thornton goes down a similar path, then
- 50:30Speaker 4: you're having a bigger picture conversation about that position. I
- 50:33Speaker 4: think at that point.
- 50:34Speaker 6: Mowen Rhode Island says, don't sleep on the Patriots team.
- 50:37Speaker 6: We were a stupid lateral away from the playoffs last
- 50:40Speaker 6: year with that so called NFL offense. I still cannot
- 50:43Speaker 6: believe we bought in a d C as our oc.
- 50:46Speaker 6: But on to twenty twenty three.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Mike, you want to handle that one. You're so good
- 50:51Speaker 4: at it. Paul, I'm gonna let you know.
- 50:52Speaker 5: I figured you were going to say yeah, and you
- 50:53Speaker 5: were a quarterback injury away from being further under five
- 50:58Speaker 5: hundred Skyler Thompson, you're a sky Thompson away from yeah.
- 51:01Speaker 5: And just the only thing I'll push back on, and
- 51:03Speaker 5: I know it's not the point of the email, it's like, okay,
- 51:05Speaker 5: so if they did in the lateral, it they would
- 51:07Speaker 5: have been an overtime. I know everybody in New England
- 51:09Speaker 5: is completely convinced that they actually won that game until
- 51:11Speaker 5: the lateral. But it was tied when the lateral happened, that.
- 51:19Speaker 6: They were They were a bad review away from just
- 51:22Speaker 6: outright winning. It wouldn't have had to have the lateral.
- 51:27Speaker 5: I actually talked to the director or something. I thought
- 51:29Speaker 5: that they still don't have an angle.
- 51:31Speaker 6: No, they had the angle. We saw it. It's toes
- 51:34Speaker 6: on the white. Okay, I'm sorry, I just remember didn't
- 51:41Speaker 6: have it, but I saw it. It was on the internet.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Sorry, Frank.
- 51:47Speaker 4: You have an open air press box in Vegas, which
- 51:49Speaker 4: is awesome because it's a dome so it's open air,
- 51:51Speaker 4: and I think all of us were just it's tie,
- 51:54Speaker 4: you're but all Patriots fans are completely convinced. No, no, no,
- 51:58Speaker 4: they were actually winning when they did that. I agree
- 52:01Speaker 4: with the other email, though, like when you really I
- 52:04Speaker 4: did the wins and losses thing the other day, just
- 52:06Speaker 4: on you know, in my head, and I was like, okay,
- 52:08Speaker 4: I could realistically see seven wins on this schedule right now,
- 52:13Speaker 4: and in some weird way you that might actually end
- 52:16Speaker 4: up being better. I think you could be better and
- 52:19Speaker 4: win less games.
- 52:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 4: And I also would say that I'm gonna I'm reserving
- 52:24Speaker 4: my official record judgment until I see Mac Jones in
- 52:28Speaker 4: a training camp with Bill O'Brien, because that could change
- 52:31Speaker 4: everything if we get out to training camp. And I
- 52:33Speaker 4: would say, mainly enjoint practices with Green Bay and Nashville
- 52:36Speaker 4: and Tennessee. Excuse me, in Nashville, those are the that's
- 52:39Speaker 4: the real, the real deal, Like, that's when it really
- 52:42Speaker 4: starts to show itself. And if we get there and
- 52:45Speaker 4: by the end of the week in Nashville, I'm like,
- 52:47Speaker 4: you know, Mac Jones looks like a different guy. Yeah, Fred, No, hear.
- 52:55Speaker 4: I'm not over because you because you don't do that.
- 52:59Speaker 4: I'm just saying they will in general, because he looked
- 53:02Speaker 4: good last spring. Last spring in OTAs, he was dropping
- 53:06Speaker 4: dimes to trade Nixon down the field.
- 53:07Speaker 5: I remember, No, you don't remember, Yeah, no, I remember
- 53:11Speaker 5: the place to trade Nixon. I just don't remember that
- 53:13Speaker 5: I was up right.
- 53:14Speaker 4: That's the one thing that I've learned in my young
- 53:16Speaker 4: career is spring practices mean mean Jack, they mean you know,
- 53:21Speaker 4: my first year, Maurice Harris had this great mini camp
- 53:24Speaker 4: in Ota, and I was all in on Marie too.
- 53:27Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, nineteen Washington, Yeah, and I thought I was like, oh,
- 53:31Speaker 4: this guy's going to be not not a you know,
- 53:33Speaker 4: a thousand yard receiver, but it contributed there. And then
- 53:36Speaker 4: all of a sudden he was off the team like
- 53:38Speaker 4: two weeks into training camps. So it means nothing.
- 53:41Speaker 3: I just wonder what are the what's the fallout of
- 53:43Speaker 3: a looked better.
- 53:45Speaker 4: But only won seven games?
- 53:46Speaker 6: Again?
- 53:47Speaker 4: You know that that's the question. What are the crafts
- 53:49Speaker 4: think about? That's what I don't hate the cop out.
- 53:52Speaker 6: But if we go out of twenty twenty three saying
- 53:54Speaker 6: we've got our quarterback, I think that's huge.
- 53:56Speaker 5: That's what I was. I think the cop out if
- 53:59Speaker 5: you when you look at it and you watch it,
- 54:01Speaker 5: you know, like you have an idea.
- 54:03Speaker 6: If we go out of twenty twenty three and we're
- 54:05Speaker 6: looking for a quarterback, that changes.
- 54:07Speaker 10: Ever.
- 54:07Speaker 5: So let's say, for arguments sake, you win seven games,
- 54:11Speaker 5: but you know, just randomly you almost have Buffalo. You're
- 54:16Speaker 5: down ten going to the fore almost No, No, you're down
- 54:19Speaker 5: ten going to the fourth quarter in Dallas and mack
- 54:22Speaker 5: leads two touchdown drives. That's one of your seven wins.
- 54:25Speaker 5: And then you know, a few weeks later, you know
- 54:28Speaker 5: they win like forty one thirty eight over another really
- 54:31Speaker 5: good team, you know, Kansas City. Okay, but you're not
- 54:36Speaker 5: that good. So you ended up seven and you know,
- 54:38Speaker 5: seven and ten. At least you could look at it
- 54:40Speaker 5: from Fred's point of view and say, well, Bill O'Brien
- 54:43Speaker 5: did what we all hoped he would. He fixed the offense,
- 54:46Speaker 5: and Mac Jones looks like he's definitely worthy of picking
- 54:49Speaker 5: up that fifty year option, and you got your guy. Yeah,
- 54:52Speaker 5: but maybe you're just not quite good enough to beat
- 54:54Speaker 5: all of those teams. You can pull up sets now,
- 54:57Speaker 5: and you can pull up sets not because the other
- 54:59Speaker 5: team team had to play in them monsoon, not because
- 55:02Speaker 5: the other team had to play with their third string quarterback,
- 55:05Speaker 5: but because your quarterback, I'll play the other team stud
- 55:08Speaker 5: who was healthy?
- 55:09Speaker 6: Right, And now that it changes the draft, it changes
- 55:12Speaker 6: free agency. If you know Mac is the guy, now
- 55:15Speaker 6: you're just stocking up David and Bethlen says, what if
- 55:20Speaker 6: the Patriots beat the Eagles? Do you think the Patriots
- 55:22Speaker 6: could go ten and seven? If they start off the
- 55:25Speaker 6: season by.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Beating the Eagles.
- 55:27Speaker 6: Could that propel them to a ten and seventh season?
- 55:31Speaker 6: Because now you're getting one that you probably thought was
- 55:34Speaker 6: a loss.
- 55:34Speaker 4: Well, I think that's the biggest thing is when I
- 55:36Speaker 4: was doing the wins losses thing, I always do. Definite
- 55:40Speaker 4: games I think are L's. Definite games I think are
- 55:42Speaker 4: wins and then coin flip games and the games that
- 55:45Speaker 4: I think are L's. It's just like, it's hard to
- 55:48Speaker 4: talk to yourself. How are you? How is mac Jones?
- 55:51Speaker 4: Are we going to see an offense that can go
- 55:53Speaker 4: out and go toe to toe with Josh Allen and
- 55:55Speaker 4: beat Buffalo? Like? Is that going to be different Dallas
- 55:59Speaker 4: his rookie year? They couldn't stop Dak Prescott at all.
- 56:03Speaker 4: You know, the defense got shredded in that game. They
- 56:05Speaker 4: gave up like six hundred yards. And so where where
- 56:10Speaker 4: are those tides going to turn in their favor? Can
- 56:13Speaker 4: they win a game that I am saying in May
- 56:16Speaker 4: fifteenth that they shouldn't win? Can one of those games
- 56:19Speaker 4: be flipped to a win?
- 56:20Speaker 5: And do you ever do that the exercise that the
- 56:22Speaker 5: wins losses? So when I do that, believe it or not,
- 56:25Speaker 5: I tend to put more wins down than my head
- 56:29Speaker 5: actually thinks, because I've seen it so many times with
- 56:33Speaker 5: this team. They find like if you go into a season,
- 56:36Speaker 5: there's six games that you think, or like Evan's thinking
- 56:39Speaker 5: about Philadelphia, this is a loss. This is a lot
- 56:43Speaker 5: that it never works out that you lose them, all right.
- 56:46Speaker 5: Usually you know, something happens, you win a game that
- 56:49Speaker 5: you weren't expecting to win maybe two. But now like
- 56:53Speaker 5: the last year or two, you've been able to do that,
- 56:56Speaker 5: You've been able to say, they're gonna have a hard
- 56:58Speaker 5: time winning at Dallas, they're gonna have hard time beating
- 57:01Speaker 5: Kansas City or Philadelphia. You know, I used to split
- 57:05Speaker 5: those games. I used to say they have five six
- 57:07Speaker 5: you know when you know in the heyday, they have
- 57:08Speaker 5: five or six quote unquote hard games. And I would say, oh,
- 57:11Speaker 5: they'll go at least three and three in the hard games,
- 57:13Speaker 5: and then they'll beat up on everybody else into it
- 57:15Speaker 5: twelve and four and.
- 57:16Speaker 4: The AFC Championship.
- 57:18Speaker 6: And that's how it worked.
- 57:19Speaker 5: That's how that's how it went.
- 57:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I had Philly, Dallas, Kansas City, and the two
- 57:25Speaker 4: Buffalo games as the as the losses, so that they're
- 57:28Speaker 4: already if if that, if it ends up going chock,
- 57:32Speaker 4: then you're already five games behind the eight ball.
- 57:35Speaker 5: I personally would add two losses to Miami and the Jets,
- 57:39Speaker 5: not both of them. So those are saying the best.
- 57:42Speaker 5: I think, the best you can hope for is splitting
- 57:45Speaker 5: with those two.
- 57:45Speaker 4: So I had those as coin flip games because I
- 57:47Speaker 4: figured they will split them in some order, so I
- 57:51Speaker 4: had them as coin flip games. I had the Raiders,
- 57:53Speaker 4: the Giants, the Chargers, the Broncos, and the Steelers as
- 57:56Speaker 4: the other coin flip games. And then the the wins
- 57:59Speaker 4: are saying Commander's colts.
- 58:02Speaker 5: So I would largely agree with every every prediction on that.
- 58:06Speaker 4: But that's just three games. I mean that's three games.
- 58:08Speaker 4: That's seven and ten, eight and nine, depending on it's
- 58:11Speaker 4: nine coin flip games. So whenever you give him the half,
- 58:14Speaker 4: you know that that's you know.
- 58:15Speaker 5: And this is again May fifteenth. I'd like to see
- 58:17Speaker 5: what New Orleans looks like. Yeah, well, the quarter and
- 58:19Speaker 5: they haven't had a quarterback in a while.
- 58:21Speaker 4: They don't have a quarterback, probably probably.
- 58:23Speaker 5: Don't, but he's better than what they've had.
- 58:25Speaker 6: Yeah, Neil and new Brunswick writes in if you were
- 58:27Speaker 6: to look at the schedule based on last year's team,
- 58:30Speaker 6: I think we could all agree that there are no
- 58:32Speaker 6: Pencilton wins. However, I too, am excited to see what
- 58:36Speaker 6: Bill O'Brien can design and if mat can execute it.
- 58:39Speaker 6: I find it comical and a little sad how everyone
- 58:41Speaker 6: on this show and all the listeners have basically publicly
- 58:44Speaker 6: admitted that last year's offensive coaching was the worst in
- 58:47Speaker 6: the league in decades. We just made jokes about it now,
- 58:51Speaker 6: But how are we not more embarrassed by this? We're
- 58:54Speaker 6: the Patriots.
- 58:56Speaker 4: I was pretty embarrassed by what am I to know?
- 58:58Speaker 5: He's I didn't have anything to do with it, IMBs.
- 59:03Speaker 6: I was embarrassed, and I thought it was gonna work.
- 59:05Speaker 6: I thought it was gonna work.
- 59:06Speaker 5: I don't take any pride over winning the Super Bowl either,
- 59:09Speaker 5: because I had nothing to do with that either.
- 59:11Speaker 3: I mean, I think there's a lot of decisions and
- 59:13Speaker 3: things that have happened around here over twenty years that
- 59:16Speaker 3: are debatable, and I don't think that this is one
- 59:18Speaker 3: of them.
- 59:19Speaker 6: This is a bad decisions in the store was not debatable.
- 59:25Speaker 6: Mike and Charlotte, it looks like the Titans bye week
- 59:29Speaker 6: is ten twenty two and the Patriots are playing the
- 59:31Speaker 6: Bills at home. Could this be the week they induct
- 59:35Speaker 6: Rabel in the Hall?
- 59:36Speaker 4: I'd be grave if he's up for it.
- 59:38Speaker 6: Did we even talk about the fact that Mike Rabel
- 59:40Speaker 6: was the winner of the the.
- 59:43Speaker 5: Fan vote that was last week?
- 59:44Speaker 4: Is the show?
- 59:44Speaker 8: You were in here?
- 59:45Speaker 4: Oh?
- 59:45Speaker 6: You didn't talk about it? I did, okay a little bit.
- 59:48Speaker 6: Congratulations finally to Mike.
- 59:51Speaker 5: I think we did.
- 59:53Speaker 4: But yeah, that would make sense, Yeah, that would make
- 59:55Speaker 4: some sense.
- 59:56Speaker 3: Yeah, if he's willing to come up here and spend
- 59:58Speaker 3: his bye week. Yeah, getting sell raided.
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: Yeah, So Mike Rabel is the newest inductee into the
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: Patriots Hall of Fame. Congratulations, well deserved ten touchdowns? Yeah,
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: ten ten catches, ten touchdowns. Isn't that something?
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: It's unbelievable. I watched some of them. We were talking.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: I think maybe we talked about it on the show,
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: but just you know what was some of the best there?
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: I mean he had some. He had some tough catches.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Too, Like some of those. I always think of the
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: one in the Eagles where he talked about it on
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: his conference call where he didn't really pick it up
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: till late. It's just and it felt like it was
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: coming through a cras getting he was getting, he's getting
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: had and he kind of like bopped it into the air.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: And I mean, he just was such a phenomenal athlete.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: And they only saw the flag because he caught it anyway,
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: Fred right, if he had got knocked away, they would
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: have thrown it for it.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: All right, Paul's foods here, So we're going to take

- 1:10:41Speaker 4: And now great moments in.
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: History.
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: I got my tonsils out and I had a back
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: then you stayed overnight, but this was planned. I mean
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: back then I sucked my thumb and I had a blanket,
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: and uh, I did it. You know, I stopped that
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: last year. But we know, so you're in this crib
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: at night, and of course if you need anything, you
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: had a button to, you know, get the nurse there.
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: So I realized my blanket was in my suitcait it.
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: So I remember, I remember being this little kid, but
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: you know, so I pressed the button and the nurse
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: comes over and she says, well, you know, what do
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: you need? I said, in that suitcase, there's a blanket.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: I need it.
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: And this thing was like tattered because I had literally
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: had it since I'd been born, you know, like where
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: I rubbed it, it was all worn out and everything.
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: So the nurse goes in, she goes this thing and
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: I remember to I said, just give it to me.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: I was just give it to me.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I just gave up that blanket recently.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: Congratulation.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you're still suck your thumb.
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: Oh yeah. Oh. My grandmother threw it in the garbage
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: once and I had to go in and get it.
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: She's like, you're gonna get buck teeth because your thumb's
- 1:11:52Speaker 6: in your mouth all the time.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: It's true. They put the bumper on there.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: My sister had to get it, uh so that every
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: time you put her back in it would like bump
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: your front thumb away. But she just found it.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: She just like circle her thumb around it all right.
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: Eight five to five past five hundred is the Ace
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: Takeing Hotline web radio at Patriots dot com. We got
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: a couple of people that have been holding on since
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: the beginning of the show. Todd's in North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 1:12:16Speaker 7: Well, I think you kind of hit on it. And
- 1:12:18Speaker 7: I'm glad Evan's back because I was listening to Patriots
- 1:12:21Speaker 7: beat his old show their gung hole for the for
- 1:12:26Speaker 7: looking at the difference that Clem and Bob can make.
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: Billy O'Brien and to the point that they said that
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: Kenrole Brown is going to have the best season as
- 1:12:38Speaker 7: a yet as a Patriot. They figured that going to
- 1:12:40Speaker 7: be a big game, said everything was positive about the
- 1:12:43Speaker 7: old So I want to ask you a question Brown, different,
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: do you think for wins losses that this coaching can make?
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: And also how many points per game? That's my two questions.
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: Thanks guys.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Okay, I don't know about Cambrell Brown.
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: What did they finished last year? Points a game?
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: We know not the time?
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: Like low? Was it like eighteen?
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: It's probably, yeah, I think it's I think it was
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: over twenty, but oh, not very much, not that much.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: I believe there's during the defensive touchdowns, right, that's true,
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: and twenty one point four was the exactly.
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: They had a couple of blowouts.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: They had some defensive touchdowns in there, though. Yeah, how
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: many at the seven? Six? Six? Yeah? What was the question?
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: And Paul's what do you call it when they like
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: set them up already in field goal range?
- 1:13:32Speaker 10: Right?
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: The do it?
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: Do it? The four and outfield goals?
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: Yeah, so they had a bunch of those four which
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: don't get counted into the defensive points obviously.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: So that's like you get an interception at like say
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: the twenty, you go three and out and then you
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: just kick the field.
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: That happened at least twice, if not more Like I'm
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: not making that. I know that definitely. I know I
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: play a role on the show, but sometimes I'm being serious.
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I hope that it if you look
- 1:13:59Speaker 6: at real offense of scores, you know, and kind of
- 1:14:02Speaker 6: do it that way. I hope you know you're getting
- 1:14:04Speaker 6: like an extra three or four points per game, you know.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: I mean, I think thirty points is where you want
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: to be. I mean, that's where the good team thirty
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: points a game.
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: That's nobody does that.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: Yeah, top teams in the league, the team to go
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: to the.
- 1:14:17Speaker 6: Super Bowl really averaging thirty average.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: So the Kent City led the league last year at
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: twenty nine point two, Okay, they're the best, and Philly
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: was twenty nine point one, Buffalo twenty seven point seven.
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: Wasn't to the Super wasn't scoring, So nobody gets thirty
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: a little bit.
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: Maybe I think scoring was generally down last year too.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: I think so twenty one, I understand Dallas led the league.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: We're scoring in twenty twenty one at thirty point four,
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: so all right, right right around thirty It's like what
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: the lead offenses do?
- 1:14:47Speaker 6: Uh, Patty's an agawan? What's up? Patty?
- 1:14:50Speaker 7: What is up?
- 1:14:51Speaker 17: Everyone?
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: How are you all right?
- 1:14:55Speaker 19: This is Holly, this is diet Miller's by the pool
- 1:14:58Speaker 19: with a with a fresh line in it type of weather.
- 1:15:00Speaker 19: I'm loving it. My time of year.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Too much to put together. He's got gazebos and what else? Paul,
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: Have you added anything to your grotto yet?
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Or is that still I have no grotto.
- 1:15:11Speaker 19: I got a two part question.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: To take the cover off the pool last week, though, Yeah, I.
- 1:15:16Speaker 19: Just did that for We did that for Mother's Day
- 1:15:18Speaker 19: for my wife.
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: You made wait, you made your wife take the cover
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: off the pool for Mother's Day?
- 1:15:25Speaker 19: No, me and me and my son Kyle did. And
- 1:15:27Speaker 19: I powerwashed our deck or both of our decks and
- 1:15:30Speaker 19: stained our pool decks for That's that's.
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: All she wanted, she asked from manual labor for Mother's Day.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: Sir, Yes, sir.
- 1:15:42Speaker 19: Sounds like two part questions regarding a player that hasn't
- 1:15:47Speaker 19: garnered bunch of buzzs, with the exception of maybe Day
- 1:15:50Speaker 19: two of the twenty twenty one draft and that's Ronnie Perkins.
- 1:15:54Speaker 19: Do you guys think we get anything out of them
- 1:15:56Speaker 19: this year? Anything? Even a slipper? And why do you
- 1:16:00Speaker 19: think I know he has some like conditioning issues last year,
- 1:16:03Speaker 19: but why do you think it hasn't worked with him
- 1:16:04Speaker 19: so far? And that's all I got. I'll take the
- 1:16:07Speaker 19: question off the.
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: Air, Okay.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: I just think he's kind of in the mold, like
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: like I was off of him on the draft just
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: because I felt like he's a four to three defensive end.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: Then he just he got hurt.
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: He never really gets high impact reps.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: He's never really made a play in training.
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: I really don't think he's ever made a play in
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: a practice that we have watched. And I mean that
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: with all due respect, but that is somebody you know,
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: at least we've seen instances of, like Anthony Jennings, like
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: playing and being.
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: I think that's a good somewhat.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: Ronnie Perkins. I don't remember ever once writing in my
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: notes like, oh you know it's fifty one, right, fifty
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: one made a play today. I don't never anything Nope
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: with conditioning problems. That doesn't mean I don't I don't
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: think there.
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: Weren't any Yeah to me, that the biggest thing is
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: at least with who was quiet this first couple of years,
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: you did see what Evan's talking, right, You saw him
- 1:17:02Speaker 5: get some reps with frontline players. Perkins has gotten very
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: very few reps with guys that are going to be
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: on the team in his two training camps. And maybe
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: this year will be different.
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: And I think on that, Mike, I think hit the
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: nail with the four three end. I think that's been
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: his issue is that he's at Oklahoma. He was a
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: hand in the dirt player. He was somebody that was
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: a four three end that reduced inside and he got
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: at two sixty. He could do it at the college level,
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: and they've tried to make him into a three four
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: outside linebacker that plays up on his feet, and I
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: just don't think that he's got the explosiveness or the
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: athleticism to be able to do it. So he's not
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: really in a very good fit for him. And it
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: hasn't really the transition hasn't worked out. They're just missing
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: those guys.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I'm looking at the depth chart
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: you mentioned, Jennings is maybe the only depth piece, but
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: at Zucce and Judahn, Jennings DeMarcus Mitchell. I mean, he
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: did play outside linebacker in college, and I mean he
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: kind of has that body type, although I don't think
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: he's quite as long as you would like. But and
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: then Perkins, I mean, it's it's five guys, and you
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: kind of know what you're getting with most of them,
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: So it's just it's weird that it's such a thin.
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: And I agree with you guys on the position. That's
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: what I think, that's what he is. But I don't
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: understand why they won't let him try to do that.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: And that's why I like, ifj gets hurt, like, could
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: he be that guy?
- 1:18:17Speaker 12: Like?
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: I mean, I think in a perfect world maybe that's
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: what he does.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: But I think that they ask him to stand up
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: and play, you know, off the edge like judea on
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: and why not let him play like Chandler Jones played?
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: Is there too.
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: Small for what that? I don't know, but La Jones
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: isn't that big. But I think maybe Chandler Jones is longer,
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: like you know, he's probably longer. I mean, Chalda Jones
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: can't be much more than two sixty. Yeah, I think
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: that that's a fair point. And I think looking at
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: that depth chart a guy like they probably view a
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: guy like Jolani Tavai as capable of doing both things
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: off and on the line, so he adds some depth
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: in that and that's where you get back. Like, I
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: think if they felt like he was talented enough, they
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: figure it out.
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: Because I do trust their ability to say, Okay, this
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: I could do this, this guy could do Now. Maybe
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: their talent evaluations coming out of college, and just like
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: everybody else's, you have.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: Swings and misses.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: But I do think that if he was worthy of
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: more than he's getting, he'd have gotten it.
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: Yeah, not that it's that Winnovich ended up being this
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: great player, but at least he was a player that
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: could play for you, and and he was a guy
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: that was a four to three end at Michigan that
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: they that easily kind of made that conversion, especially early on.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: He had some really good play early on as a
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: pass rusher, and he was able to make that transition
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: to playing up on his feet and being more of
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: that stand up outside linebacker. And it just it seems
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: like Perkins is just not not that. I wonder even
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: if he went someplace else that does run a four
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: to three if all of a sudden. He's a rotational player,
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: not saying he's going to be an All Pro someplace else,
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: but it wouldn't surprise me if he was like a
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: serviceable player in a different system. That's why I just.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: Said, like, I mean, we're all kind of joking about
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: it that we have no expectations for him, but I
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: do just given the and what he did as a
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: pass rusher and kind of you know, had had some
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: juice at least as far as you know strength, I
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: would say, you know, maybe there is an opportunity that
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: opens up for him. Who knows what's gonna happen with Uch,
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: but you know, if he were to get out there,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: maybe just be a designated pass rusher, challenge the edge,
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: you know, be kind of consistent.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: He might he might get a chance if something happens
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: to Uch or Jennings. I mean, it's not much there.
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: Eight five five past five hundred is the as ticket
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: Hutline web radio at Patriots dot com. It's the email
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: address Christian rights in Fred and Mike. Please don't try
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: and give me false hope. I convinced myself this is
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: an eight to nine team. In our last year with Bill,
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: I think our biggest surprise will be we win one
- 1:20:39Speaker 6: of the Bills games. Besides, besides that, I see nothing more.
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: I say that because we got better while other teams
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: actually improve themselves. I think he meant we didn't get better. Well,
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: but anyway, so he's not hopeful.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: Well, if you can't be hopeful at this point, I
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: don't know what you're really doing at the.
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: Point, know, like like and I'm like hopeful, like there
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: might win the super Bowl, like they just they might
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: be better and they might win some big games that
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: they have.
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: Won the last few years, that that would that would
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: make it.
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: I choose to temper my expectations but go into the
- 1:21:10Speaker 6: season with hope. That's how I'm going into this season.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: Because as soon as the train starts rolling, you don't
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: really have a choice. Like it's gonna present itself to.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: You and you're gonna see, all right, this is a
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: dysfunctional often, you know, like last year and it was like,
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: well I'm not optimistic anymore?
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: Why why? But at this point why in May am
- 1:21:27Speaker 6: I like writing off the season? Come on, what's the point?
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: Excited for training camp, Excited to get a look at
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: atas and see a little bit of quasi football.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: And you know, and then and then, and then you'll.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: Let reality kind of slowly set in during training camp
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: in the preseason, and you know, and then you'll get
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: punched in the face with what's really gonna.
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: Happen Matthew and Nebraska. This might be a question.
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: Cheerfully, I just I was just like, I'm just gonna
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: keep going with this, but it's incredulous, and then then
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: we get all the flat for being the negative ones show.
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: This might be a question for Alex. I'm curious to
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: know what Celtics podcaster shows you guys recommend. I like
- 1:22:05Speaker 6: something similar to your show. I know you can't compare
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: the World's original podcast to others, but something that has
- 1:22:11Speaker 6: more than X and O analysis. Any help.
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: The Geno Time podcast used to be really good with
- 1:22:16Speaker 9: Tom wester Home, Nicole Yang and Chris Grenham. They no
- 1:22:19Speaker 9: longer do it, but that gives you, like the lightheartedness.
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: I honestly don't really listen to any Celtics podcasts these days.
- 1:22:26Speaker 8: If I had to pick, it would be Jay Kings.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I like j Kings podcast. I like Locked On
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: with Corrals me too.
- 1:22:32Speaker 9: But Carlos played professional basketball in Europe.
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: Yeah, you can tell a rotation a lot, which I
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: I obviously eat up. It's good.
- 1:22:43Speaker 8: I have learned a lot, and I worked with corrals.
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: Too, So yeah, because I can't, I can't. I can't
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: do it without the ex like I need to know
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: and I'm not good enough with basketball OX and O'SE
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: to do it in my own head, like I know
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: a lot about basketball and played growing up.
- 1:23:02Speaker 6: I on his first date when he slept with him.
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: I need to know how this.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Works, so object a will I'm going to tell her
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: not to listen to the show. No, but yeah, I
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: I like to. I like the xs in all sports.
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: I'm I've been learning a little bit more, you know
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: that now that hockey is such a religion in my
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: house about hockey, a little trying to learn more. So
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: basically absolutely because well and plus with the Celtics. What
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: I love about the Celtics right now is that, uh
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: is that coach Joe is really analytical and and and
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: really x's nose heavy, especially even in his answers at
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: press conferences. He he doesn't like give away too much.
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: I wouldn't say, but he gets into the analytical thought
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: of you know, of what what you know went down
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: and so I I I'd like to be on that level.
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: I like to know that. I like to know what
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: you need to know.
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: Why you're a why guy? You're a why guy?
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: Yeah, very important.
- 1:23:58Speaker 9: So the answer there is it's that anything is Poutible
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: podcast by the athletic J King, Sam Packard. And then
- 1:24:04Speaker 9: as Evan said, John Carlos, does I like that title?
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: And uh, I think probably everybody like every time it
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: comes up in a meeting, like and so we got
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: to come up a name for this, like you have
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: to name a Patriots Like I think I'm at my
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: ropes end with like trying to name Patriots podcasts or
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: Patriots shows like NA podcast. But I tried to and
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: I got good idea.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Vanilla, I've more terms easy. I just having to
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: think about it, like I don't know what the Pats
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:24:36Speaker 8: It's like you come up with the name, and then
- 1:24:37Speaker 8: pr is like could this be interpreted this way?
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: We'll find out that like Deuce's father came up with coke?
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: Is it that was?
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: Oh that was sitting there if it was? Yeah, I
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: like I like J King, but I have a bone
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: to pick with J King about his game five Twitter analysis,
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: you know, spend more time talking about the crowd noise
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: and the lack of of energy in the building and
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: the fact that the Celtics imploded on their own, and
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: some people.
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: Really came at him for that.
- 1:25:06Speaker 8: I don't know, energy was crap.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: It wasn't a good anti crap. But this is the
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: crowd energy is It's a chicken or the egg, complete
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: product on the product, exactly like you can't expect. So
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: I was at game five and we were ready to go,
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: as every Boston crowd is going into a playoff game,
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: especially that wanted that magnitude. It didn't sound it because
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: they played like crap, like what do you want us
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: to do? And then every single time they tried they
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: made like even the mini mini mini ross, the place
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: got loud. But then you know, Tyrese Maxi hits a
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: three and it's a fourteen point game again and the
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: place just deflated, like what do you I don't know
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: what people like Jay King expected the crowd to do
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: in game five, and then game seven was electric. So
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: when they played well, the crowd is going to be great.
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: When they don't play well, the crowd's going to be bad.
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: I mean like sports.
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: When Tatum played like that was like an otherworldly performance. Yeah,
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: of course you're going to have an electric response to that.
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: I'm like, you guys make fun of me all the time.
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: He's never I was like on the edge of my
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: seat watching him in the third quarter, Like that was ridiculous.
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: What he what he did, Like, can you imagine being
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: there and watching him just drain shot after shot after shot,
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: Like I've seen a lot of guys score fifty points,
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: and quite honestly, most of them bore me. But when
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: you get fifty points on seventeen or twenty eight shooting,
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: that's ridiculous. And then you add in the fact that
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: it's game seven, coming off the last couple of games
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: that he had before that, that was like a ridiculous performance.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: How can you not get into that?
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: As in all fairness, I've seen you get on the
- 1:26:37Speaker 6: Matthew's Arena crowd.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: That's the truth, that is true. All four of us
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: get out.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: He's got his rally, let's go, let's come out.
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: What are you sitting down for?
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: He looks at the fans, Let's go, And that's just
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: women's volleyball.
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: I mean, got his three quarters zip he's got his
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: three quarters zip Huskies pull over.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: Yeah, you know what, it's funny that you mentioned that
- 1:26:58Speaker 5: on Sunday. My brother and I like, because you're getting there.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: The season ticket renewals. Yeah, I don't think we're doing it.
- 1:27:04Speaker 6: We're not doing it. The secondary market's falling apart.
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: I think we're doing it out.
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: Maybe they should offer free pumps again.
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: We didn't go to a ton of games last year,
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: so we're just figuring we'll go to a handful of games.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: We'll just get the tickets.
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: You might get a cough of the tip, Paul. What
- 1:27:17Speaker 6: can we do to get you back into right now?
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: Fred?
- 1:27:19Speaker 9: They do?
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: They do?
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: You know what times the game start? What time can
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: you get you?
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: You know, like they do they because if we don't,
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: because my brother's famous for not sending it in on time. Yeah,
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: and they always they always call us. Oh just I mean,
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: how many season ticket holders you think they have?
- 1:27:35Speaker 12: Right?
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: It's you and your father, right. I love the season
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: ticket holder perks are nice, though, you know, but I
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: feel like this year to the shout, you know, shout
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: out to the Celtics. They did a good job this
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: year for for season ticket holders stuff. Yes, got some the.
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: Full package in one of the Limpings partial packages.
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: We have twenty games, half seasons, twenty games. Yeah, we've
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: had them for since I was I don't know, seven
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: years old, eight years old. Me and my dad have
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: probably been to I.
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: Went to a guy who had season tickets for the
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: Salt for years and years, real veteran going to the game,
- 1:28:09Speaker 6: and he had this really great idea. He brings a
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: hefty bag folded up. When you get to the game,
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: he opens it up and you put all your winter
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: jackets in it and he stuffs it under the seat
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: so they don't get dirty and you don't have to
- 1:28:23Speaker 6: hold your jacket all game.
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: It's great. I just freeze and just leave the jacket
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: in the car.
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: And and well this is before the you know they
- 1:28:31Speaker 6: had the underground parking and everything. You know, this is
- 1:28:35Speaker 6: back at the Old Guard. I thought it was a
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: great idea. The Old Guard. I mean, as much as
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: we love the Old Guard, that place was filthy, you know.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Can I ask you a quick question, Paul, what are
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: you looking at me like that?
- 1:28:46Speaker 9: For?
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: I'm fascinated by this concert?
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: Yeah, can you bring your little your little those little
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: sash bags to the some.
- 1:28:54Speaker 8: You can't hear you can't you have to have a
- 1:28:55Speaker 8: clear bag.
- 1:28:56Speaker 9: Yeah, like I can bring the little Fanny Park want
- 1:28:59Speaker 9: bags I can bring to garden.
- 1:29:02Speaker 4: And but yeah, he can bring it with the at
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: the garden.
- 1:29:06Speaker 9: I mean you can bring whatever you want and with
- 1:29:08Speaker 9: your badge, like just be like, hey, I work here,
- 1:29:11Speaker 9: this is my briefcase.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: I try not to do that.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: I try not to pull that.
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: Let's see, George writes in he says, don't be surprised
- 1:29:18Speaker 6: when cunning him makes the squad as the third quarterback
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: and the main reason why we are uh, why we
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: beat every mobile quarterback that we see, because of the
- 1:29:27Speaker 6: looks he gives our defense in practice during those weeks.
- 1:29:30Speaker 6: I can guarantee that George and Marrill.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Well, can we just keep him on the practice squad
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: to do that? I think that would that's.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: What he's saying.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: I did watch some Molie cunning him yesterday, watch some
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: film on Malik. I would leave him a quarterback. I
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: think he showed enough in college a quarterback that at
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: least for a year or two and see how he develops.
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: I wouldn't be so rush to switch positions with him.
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: I know there was some murmurs about that potentially him
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: switching positions just because he's such a good athlete and
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: allowing him to play running back or receiver. I think
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: there's enough there a quarterback to leave him at quarterback
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: for the time being. He's he's got enough natural instincts
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: for the position that I think it's worth developing.
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: Do you think that they picked him up for the
- 1:30:10Speaker 6: sole reason of, you know, the looks he can give
- 1:30:13Speaker 6: you in practice or it was.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: Like I did never know.
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: I think it's certainly a lot of it, but yeah,
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: there's always a little you never know.
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: But I just I mean, it goes back to what
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: you said about Jalen Hurts right off the top. There's
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: a style of quarterback that has given them fits.
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: Be funny, after week one they release them.
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: Right, But I mean, Lamar, you know last year with
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: Chicago and all of a sudden, justin fields, Oh, look
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: who decided to run their quarterback and we got no
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: answers for it. I think I think you could help.
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: I mean, you're not going to be surprised if Malie
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: Kenningham makes the team. They generally have three quarterbacks, and
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: I'm sorry, I give him a much better chance than
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: Trace mcsorly.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I think with him, he the one thing that
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: you do have to make sure you're you're clear on
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: that he's not an off script, off platform. He's not
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: going to roll out to his right and flick the
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: ball forty yards down the field like he's Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: That's not his game. But he definitely has a mobility
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: that that is rare and has that ability to either
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: within design he can run the football and he can also,
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: you know, do a little bit of the extended play thing,
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: but he's more like extended to play to find a
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: check down or extended play and it pulls a guy
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: out of his own because he's reacting to him and
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: he dumps it off to a you know, a crossing route.
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: But it's not He's not one of these like Josh
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: Allen types that's gonna chuck it sixty yards down the field.
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: He doesn't have that.
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: He's a really good runner.
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: I mean, that's just the thing.
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: It's like, would you rather have Jonathan Jones giving you
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: a look because he runs a four to three or
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: do you want an actual guy who plays quarterback who
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: has that burst like Lamar you know, not the Lamar burst,
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: but has that burst that you know, just seems like
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: and I think a lot of people connect their struggles
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: with this to their kind of sticking with guys like
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: Bentley inside. I don't think it's totally an apt criticism
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: of it, but I do think that there's there's they've
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: had problems, so there's no designing they struggle with these
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: guys now.
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: I think it's obviously better to have Malie Cunningham doing it,
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: but I think they've had some versatile guys over the
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: years that have served as that kind of guy, like
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: like a Lee I always call him Lee Lee boat
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: on it from from last year, you know, and there
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: have been guys like that over the years. I don't
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: necessarily think that's the sole reason they struggle because they
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: always have, you know, pocket passer quarterbacks. I don't think
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: that's as simple as that.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: You also met, you know. It's an interesting point because
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: they released Lin Boden yep, and so they signed Malie
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: Cuttingham and then they immediately released limb Boden, So maybe
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: that is signaling that he was that for them last
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: year and now they have an actual quarterback doing I'm
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: interested to see Malie cutting him in the preseason. He's
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: one of those guys that in second preseason game, right,
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: he could light it up.
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: He really perfect for me. Yeah, that's my time to shine.
- 1:32:52Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: Now you'll have Mac people, you'll have Zappi people, and
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: you'll have Cunningham.
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: Oh there's already cutting Ham people. But when Max out there,
- 1:32:59Speaker 4: they don't let me talk. There's already kind of when
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: no one knows who's.
- 1:33:02Speaker 6: On the field, that's when they go to meet Jacket
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: and Abba. I have hope about this Patriots team because
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: I have hope about the Patriots defense. Gonzales, White and
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: Maphu will make the Patriots d significantly better, especially on
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: passing downs. And I'm hopeful the Patriots will win a
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: lot of close games because of their improved D.
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: Okay, I mean I didn't see.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: They put out some pictures from rookie mini camp over
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: the weekend, and I don't know, I didn't see any
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: of map who and I'm assuming he's still in recovery,
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: and I just I'm you know that that's a little
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: bit of a bummer. I would like to see him
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: get involved in I don't know if he's going to
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: do anything until hopefully training camp is what he said.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: But we'll see. Did you see the picture of Drod
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: Mayo watching Christian Gonzales, like, come on, pick your jaw
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: off the Florida Yeah, it looked like when we had
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: him in here and I was, you know, gazing into
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: his eyes when you're doing the interview. That's what a joke.
- 1:33:54Speaker 8: But I have a picture.
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: Oh no, yeah, I fully admit.
- 1:33:58Speaker 6: You guys want to do some general and fell trivia
- 1:34:01Speaker 6: Enrique from Monterey, He sends in some questions. Question one,
- 1:34:07Speaker 6: what coach took the longest to win his first Super
- 1:34:11Speaker 6: Bowl with one team? And he has in parentheses? Andy
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: Reid took twenty one years, but he won it with
- 1:34:18Speaker 6: his second team. So what coach coach took the longest
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: to win his first Super Bowl with one team?
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: Tom Landry, Tom Landry's number two.
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: He did it in twelve years.
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: Chuck Noll, No, Mike Shanahan, No, Bill Cower.
- 1:34:40Speaker 6: Took him fourteen years. From second question, only one team?
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: Only one teams he has that have played four or
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: more Super Bowls have done it with four different quarterbacks
- 1:34:54Speaker 6: in each game. Raiders in Washington have played with four
- 1:34:57Speaker 6: different quarterbacks, but Plunket and thisement played.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: In two of them, so only I don't understand the question.
- 1:35:03Speaker 6: Yep, only one team has played four or more Super
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: Bowls with four different quarterbacks.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: To sum it up, Okay, the Philadelphia Eagle.
- 1:35:15Speaker 6: I was just gonna say that, correct, Yeah, Juwarski, McNabb,
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: Foles and Hurts. That's right.
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: They seem to always make a random Super Bowl every.
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: Five years or so, right, Yeah.
- 1:35:27Speaker 6: Third question, Tom Brady was the second player ever to
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: play a Super Bowl in three different decades the Ats
- 1:35:33Speaker 6: the Tens in the twenties. Who was the first second player,
- 1:35:38Speaker 6: not quarterback, second player to ever play at Super Bowl
- 1:35:41Speaker 6: in three different decades?
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: Jerry Rice No. I was thinking eighties, nineties, and no,
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: I guess he didn't go in the nineties.
- 1:35:52Speaker 17: I don't know.
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: The answer is Gene Upshaw with Oakland sixty seven, seventy six,
- 1:35:57Speaker 6: and eighty.
- 1:35:58Speaker 5: I was thinking sixty, seventies and eighties. But think of
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: a guy.
- 1:36:02Speaker 6: Two more questions, Who is the only Canadian born player
- 1:36:06Speaker 6: ever to win a Super Bowl?
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: MVP?
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: I don't. I don't know, are supposed to know that.
- 1:36:14Speaker 6: I'll give you a hand. It's a quarterback. Oh, if
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: I give you the the year could you get it? Yeah,
- 1:36:23Speaker 6: nineteen ninety one see Mark Ripple gripping yep, Calgary. He
- 1:36:31Speaker 6: was born in Calgary. Uh And final question, only one
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: team has played four or more conference championship games and
- 1:36:38Speaker 6: never hosted any of them. Only one team has played
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: four or more conference championship games and never hosted any
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: of them. Baltimore correct, Baltimore is the right.
- 1:36:52Speaker 5: Jacksonville good, good, they they hosted one though.
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: Good. Those are good questions.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: That's a hard question.
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: Yeah, good stuff. Let's see Kristin and Houston writes in
- 1:37:11Speaker 6: I know you've talked about some of the newest Patriots
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: connections to other NFL or x NFL players, but not
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: sure if you mentioned this one. Christian Gonzalez's brother in
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: law is Arizona Cardinals backup quarterback David Blau. Gonzales and
- 1:37:24Speaker 6: Blau are both from Carrollton, Texas, where Blow and Melissa,
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: Christian's sister, started dating. The pair are now married and
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: expecting their first child. So it's a big year for
- 1:37:34Speaker 6: Christian as you will soon be an uncle. Same, okay,
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: I think I think tease flag that you're related to
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: Blow too.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: Now I assume be an uncle.
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: Oh okay, well, the.
- 1:37:44Speaker 9: Lions put out that really cool video during the Olympics
- 1:37:47Speaker 9: of blow cheering on his wife Melissa qualifying full circle.
- 1:37:52Speaker 8: That's Christian Gonzalez's sister.
- 1:37:54Speaker 9: Yeah, hopefully sister is in the Olympics and the next
- 1:37:59Speaker 9: Olympics we can create that.
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: No, Evan, when you become an uncle, how old will
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: you require your niece or nephew to be before you
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: stop breaking down film?
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: With breaking down film? I'm not sure, but the Patriots
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: gear has already been bought, so that that'll be I
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: there's a spot and everybody would hit my sister, says
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, and she's got the nursery
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: I'll set up and everything like that. And I was
- 1:38:25Speaker 4: looking on the walls and I was like, so where
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: do we hang?
- 1:38:28Speaker 6: I could see in the delivery room. I like the
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: length of record. It's good length good.
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: No, it's actually it's sad because they still have COVID
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: rules at a lot of at hospitals, and she's going
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: to mg H and you're only allowed besides her husband.
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: You're only allowed to other people that can come back
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: at a time. So obviously I'm not going to kick
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: my parents out, So I was like, all right, I'll
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: do the twentieth so any day.
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: Else, Okay, Yeah, I'll talk to you off here.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: That's why I look at my phone a lot. These
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: should take delivery. Yeah, it's tough.
- 1:39:05Speaker 8: It's never sold out.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: Well, I don't want to kick my parents obviously it's
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: their first grandchild. Like, I'm not going to kick my
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: get you back. Yeah, Yeah, it's tough.
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: It's tough, U Ryan in Atlanta, A lot of Patriots
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: fans seem to be ready to move on from Bill Belichick,
- 1:39:22Speaker 6: like there is another Hall of Fame coach in the
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: waiting and the wings. I understand that he hasn't had
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: a lot of success over the past three seasons, but
- 1:39:29Speaker 6: the alternative Bill could be much much worse. While I
- 1:39:32Speaker 6: agree that the end is much better, maybe the end
- 1:39:35Speaker 6: of the season for Bill in New England, it scares
- 1:39:37Speaker 6: me to think of what that transition could look like.
- 1:39:40Speaker 6: What do you think is the ideal succession plan for
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: when Bill leaves?
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:39:46Speaker 12: Not me.
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: I think that Bill.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: I think the first part of it is that Bill
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: chooses to be done, and that just kind of eliminates
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: the whole like, how do we, you know, move on
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: from him and it just takes it out of the
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: crafts hands.
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, if we're going to go like the
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: ideal thing like they would the super Bowl, and he
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: decides he's had enough, like could it be any more perfect?
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: Like yeah, But like more realistic is he's going to
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: want to continue to coach and maybe they don't want
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: him to coach anymore. That's probably more realistic because it
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: never ends well for these in these situations.
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: Right, what about Landry?
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: He was dumped by Jimmy Jerry Jones, but.
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: Like the end was apparent, right, Like I don't remember any.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: He struggled down the stretch.
- 1:40:26Speaker 6: Yeah, and I don't remember Landry ever saying oh I
- 1:40:28Speaker 6: got done dirty?
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: Oh yes, oh he did that. The whole league said
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: that you got done dirty.
- 1:40:33Speaker 6: Oh Okay, I didn't know. I don't remember.
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: But but in fairness, like Jerry Jones came and bought
- 1:40:37Speaker 5: the team and then he fired him. Yeah, it wasn't
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: Like it's a little different. Yeah, like it's different for
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: Robert and Shula.
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: What about Shula because Sula retired, Yeah, but I mean retired.
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: And Chuck Noll, I'm thinking of guys.
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: All these are the same kind of situation. Great careers
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: kind of petered out at the end.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: Chuck Nolan, Bill Walsh that they retired kind of early, right.
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: Like Bill Walsh quick, Chuck Nole didn't. Bill Walsh, Yeah,
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: quit then he came back, like Bill Walsh was was
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: a little different than all of these. Yeah, Fred, you're right,
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: Bill Walsh was different than all these.
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: Chuck Nole was like.
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: Sixty eight to ninety, no to like eighty. When did
- 1:41:19Speaker 5: Bill Cower start?
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: They said, I don't know.
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: Then the guy just said it.
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: Took well, it took him fourteen years to win, but
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: I don't know when he started.
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it was like it was like mid like eighty six. Yeah,
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: Chuck Nole was still there, I think, yeah, like he
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: was there for a long time.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: But like Noel, Shula, Landry, they all kind of struggled
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: the last three four years.
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: But you know, you talk about head coaching success, just
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: getting the right guy. I mean, look at the Steelers,
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: you know, Noel to Cower to Tomlin, that's it three coaches.
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: If you settle for mediocrity, then.
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: You have a pretty good franchise.
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: Snark aside, like that's my point. That would be my
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: counter to the like, yeah, do I expect to get
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: a better coach than Belichick.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: No, I don't. I think the chances are you're gonna
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: probably not have a coach that's better than him. But like,
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: it doesn't have to be a disaster, right, you could
- 1:42:11Speaker 5: get another guy who comes in and knows what he's doing.
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: My point was possible with Mike Tomlin was just you know,
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: not as being snarky, but in all honesty, like those
- 1:42:19Speaker 4: teams that had big Ben ab Le'Veon Bell, those teams
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: should have done a lot better than what they did
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: and he but they were content. Yeah, he gets them
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: to the playoffs, he's above five hundred every year, and
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: they were cool.
- 1:42:31Speaker 6: But but now we know what Tomlin had to do
- 1:42:34Speaker 6: behind the scenes to keep ab probably in line. I mean,
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: we didn't appreciate that at the time.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: I used to be a big time critical of Mike
- 1:42:44Speaker 5: Tomlin just does what he does. But I've come around
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: on it.
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: On yeah, yeah, he's got great culture and he's got
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: a great program. But those defenses, they they sit in
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: the same thing the entire game, and Brady used to
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: just tear them apart in big games because of that,
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: and offensively they always underachieved in the playoffs, and maybe
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: it was better Pittsburgh got the Patriots.
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: Overall franchise over no.
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: No, no, Like when Brady was on the Patriots and
- 1:43:11Speaker 5: they were playing those Pittsburgh teams, who did you think
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: had the better team?
- 1:43:14Speaker 6: What the time, you was scared of Pittsburgh until we
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: beat their asses?
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: So who did you think was better?
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: Now I know my fault. I thought at the time
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: that Pittsburgh was, you know, more season playoff team, scarier
- 1:43:26Speaker 6: to play.
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: You're talking about like in two thousand and one. Yeah,
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: I'm talking Mike, like Mike Tomlin, Like I'm not talking Bill.
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: Co team like when they played in the I thought
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: the Patriots.
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: Had vastly more talent than the Steelers in this era. Like, yeah,
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: I think the Patriots were a lot better than Pittsburgh,
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: and I don't disagree. But the one of the AFC
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: Championship game Sea, Yeah, Like, I don't even think they
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: were comparable. Thought, I thought it was amazing that Tomlin
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: got him that far and the fact that they got
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: ripped to shreds by Brady made him one of many
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: teams that got ripped red by You.
- 1:43:57Speaker 6: Give him credit to Tomlin.
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he's a good I just it's like
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: people love to like rip the Colts, and they they
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: ripped Peyton Mannings for being a choking dog. I think
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: the Patriots. I think the Patriots were better. Like, yeah,
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: I think they were better than Peyton Manning's Colts. And
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: when they played him at home, they always beat him
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: because I think they were better.
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:44:19Speaker 5: Like, I think to say that the other team stunk,
- 1:44:23Speaker 5: or the other team choked, or the other team didn't
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: have a good coach is only belittling what your team did.
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: I think the Patriots were better, and that's why those
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: other teams look bad.
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: Caleb and Knoxville Once in a while, I just read
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: that Devonte Adams is not seeing eye to eye with
- 1:44:40Speaker 6: McDaniels over the offensive plan moving forward. Can any of
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: you speak to Patriots? Can any of you speak to
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: what you know about the situation? And if there is
- 1:44:48Speaker 6: some riffed in Vegas? Do you think we can make
- 1:44:51Speaker 6: a move for Adams before the trade deadline?
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: I think I'd be more worried about Adams making a
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: move to New York than I would be him making
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: a move here. Oh God, don't even put that in
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: my mind, I just did.
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: He was so good last year Like watching him, there's
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: there's not a lot like I remember like really fun
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: last year of terms of just watching the actual games,
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: but getting to watch him.
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: In Vegas practice.
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: It was just that is what a stud receiver looks like,
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: that can do it all, that has pull away speed,
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: that is just always open.
- 1:45:22Speaker 19: Uh.
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: He gave everybody fits that he went up against that
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: first practice I think it was in whichever one it was,
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: I think it was the first one that was like
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: the best practice I've ever seen a receiver have in
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: training camp. Oh my goodness. I mean, because it wasn't
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: just it wasn't just that he was burning guys. He
- 1:45:40Speaker 4: was also making like these acrobatic catches too when he wasn't.
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: I mean, he must have had him like he must
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: have had like ten for two hundred in that practice.
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: Like he was just there was one rep up the
- 1:45:50Speaker 3: sideline against Jalen Mills where it was like they're even,
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: and then all of.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: A sudden, he's leaving it were not even and and
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: he just you know, an easy catch down the field.
- 1:45:59Speaker 6: So he's a good player, Mark says Fred Paul and
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: the rest of the gang. Do you guys know of
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: any meeting between Mac and Bill so far? If you do,
- 1:46:13Speaker 6: could you speak of it. I don't know of anybody.
- 1:46:16Speaker 6: I'm assuming and hoping that they're gonna hold they haven't
- 1:46:20Speaker 6: already had one.
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: They're going to like an ice cream social or something.
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: They're gonna sit down. Yeah, gona hash it all out
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: over some vanilla.
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: Have that little sprinkle I was reading. I was trying
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: to find out any strife between DeVante Adams and Joshua,
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: which I don't see.
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: By the way, I haven't heard anything about that yet.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: That was I mean, they traded his best friend, like
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: Derek Carr was, Oh, yeah, his best friend. I wouldn't
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: say that that was like the sole reason why he
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: went to the Raiders. There's other family connections that that
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: brought him west, but I mean, obviously that was a major,
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: major reason why he decided to go to the Raiders
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: to begin with.
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: So it is pretty funny though that josh got rid
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: of it. I mean, I get why he done. He
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: did it again, but just like you would think that
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: when getting rid of of David Carr and I know
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: that's different, but to compare it to Cutler, you know,
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: like you just he did kind of the same thing
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: twice and like.
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: Absolutely, you know that. He just said, you know, I'll
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: take them, I'll take him. Okay, I don't want him. Okay,
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: I did it your way.
- 1:47:13Speaker 3: I don't want Like it's like he'd rather jump into
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: the fray.
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: I think this will be the last year for Josh
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: mcams with the Raiders.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: Really, yeah, okay, So let's play this out. If you
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: think Josh McDaniel's last year with the Raiders. Let's say
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: Bill O'Brien has a great year with the Patriots and
- 1:47:27Speaker 4: takes a college job next year. Do you bring Josh Black? No,
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: I wouldn't.
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: I can't.
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: I'm sure they will.
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: I can't. I'm done, I can't out.
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: I can't.
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: Did you just say I can't?
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: Can't.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: That's how exhausted the kids are saying, because that seems
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: like that's a very realistication.
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: If Bill's here, it absolutely is.
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: Oh god, you know he'll be saying if that happens, MAO,
- 1:47:54Speaker 6: what do I need to do?
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: No, he's got to compete.
- 1:47:55Speaker 5: Whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. You're saying, bring him back
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: as offensive?
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: Okay, I just wanted to clarify, Okay Stacey from Indiana.
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: With Kendrick Bourne and Mac Jones having an obvious good
- 1:48:09Speaker 6: rapport with each other on the field, how do the
- 1:48:12Speaker 6: Patriots get and keep Born on the field this season?
- 1:48:15Speaker 6: Juju boute Booty, he's putting him in their No Douglas
- 1:48:21Speaker 6: Thornton Parker. A lot of these guys have similar playing styles.
- 1:48:24Speaker 6: I just don't see how they keep him on the
- 1:48:26Speaker 6: field unless he can truly outperform the rest of the receivers.
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: That's how he gets on the field.
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: Well, right, I do think he's unique, though, you know,
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: just compared to those those top starter guys. I mean,
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: I think he's got, you know, some gadget ability, some
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: stuff to you know, do a little bit after the catch,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: stuff that maybe the other guys can. I mean, I
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: think he's totally redundant, but I do think that. I mean,
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: I think we said it here. If both those six
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: rounders kind of pop, does it make him expendable?
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: Maybe that may have been part of my profile.
- 1:48:55Speaker 6: Floyd and Redford Michigan says Evan, why don't you find
- 1:48:58Speaker 6: Malie cunning him into At the beginning of the most
- 1:49:01Speaker 6: recent Catch twenty two episode, you indicated you didn't find
- 1:49:04Speaker 6: Malik Cunningham an interesting storyline. Tracy Below reportedly Malie Cunningham
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: was among the most sought after undrafted free agents. Malie
- 1:49:13Speaker 6: came from the same school as Lamar Jackson, and though
- 1:49:15Speaker 6: he wasn't Camarene Kats Lamar Jackson was, there was still
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: the comparison. The elaee could represent a welcome change in
- 1:49:22Speaker 6: QB philosophy.
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: How is he not interested because he's just you lost
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: me at Lamar.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: Jackson, undrafted Lamar Jackson.
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: He's not even remotely close to anything close to Lamar Jackson.
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: Like when I said, I don't understand some of our
- 1:49:37Speaker 5: like some of our fans don't you get it, but
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: you get it. But why because the guy is a
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: sought after undrafted free agent, does that make it more interesting?
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: Like he must be good?
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: So I'm glad that they have a mobile quarterback that
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: potentially could be a developmental guy.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: I'm glad for that. Yeah, that's kind of where I started.
- 1:49:56Speaker 10: End.
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: So I said some nice things about Malie Cunningham a
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: few minutes ago, but just for the record, but where
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: I was at with that was that, like it's like
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: the Jeff Thomas thing, right. It's like it's the undrafted guy,
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: not the not the guys that they've actually invested in,
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: not Juju Smith Schuster, not even Kayshaun Boute. Are they
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: drafted in the sixth round or tomorrow Douglas. But Malik
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: Cunningham is gonna be this diamond in the rough that
- 1:50:19Speaker 4: I'm sleeping on that is gonna cut good teams don't
- 1:50:22Speaker 4: have Malite Cunningham's matter like, that doesn't that doesn't matter
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: to the Eagles. The Eagles and the Chiefs are not
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: going into camp and being like, oh, we signed this
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: undrafted free agent quarterback who's gonna play receiver, and now
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: he's gonna be the answer to our our our middling offense.
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: Like I said, I liked the idea of finding a
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: quarterback with a different skill set that we haven't really
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: had and seeing if there's anything there. You know, does
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: that qualify as interesting? Okay, maybe I don't.
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: I just it's not. And that's more interesting to me
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: than him switching positions, by the way, like I want
- 1:50:59Speaker 4: to interesting.
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not interested at all. Like in general, I'm not.
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: I'm not expecting at all, I should say, like some
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: undrafted free agent coming in and all of a sudden
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: being a significant part of the team's success. Like will
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: will there be an undrafted free agent? Yeah, every team
- 1:51:16Speaker 5: has them. There's unwrapted for because you only get I
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: mean most teams only. There's only seven rounds.
- 1:51:21Speaker 6: If Malie Cunningham lights it up in preseason and Mac
- 1:51:26Speaker 6: Jones doesn't play well to start the season, are they
- 1:51:28Speaker 6: yelling for Cunningham or Zappy Cunningham?
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: I think, well, the fans. Yeah, I can't control with
- 1:51:35Speaker 5: the fans, but just throwing it out there, I think
- 1:51:38Speaker 5: they'll be yelling for Zappy. I would just do it.
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: It just tells you where where we are offensively is
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: the like that that's the guy that we should be
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: excited about. Please, I mean to your point, Fred, you know,
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: twenty five years ago it was Michael Bishop, right, the
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: clamoring that's right, right, yep. After Michael Bishop was a
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: hell of a lot better college quarterback than Malie Kenningham.
- 1:52:04Speaker 6: Was Franklin and Baltimore. I wanted to chime in on
- 1:52:06Speaker 6: the concert talk and say that how quickly I went
- 1:52:09Speaker 6: I wanted to end depends on the artist. Like, for instance,
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: I recently saw Anita Baker in concert, and I honestly
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: could have gone on for another hour for me. Yeah,
- 1:52:18Speaker 6: but that's because since I'm in my thirties, I didn't
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: have the opportunity to see her in her prime. So
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: seeing her at this stage is an opportunity that may
- 1:52:25Speaker 6: not come around again in my lifetime. I wouldn't extend
- 1:52:28Speaker 6: that same grace to newer artists, though, So can I
- 1:52:31Speaker 6: just say When I first glanced at this email, I
- 1:52:34Speaker 6: thought he was saying, Anita Bryant, Paul will understand. Who
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: remember Anita Bryant? She was like the Orange the lady
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: for Tropicana Orange Juice.
- 1:52:44Speaker 5: And I was like, okay, I do know the name,
- 1:52:50Speaker 5: but I don't know the reference really sense Anita Baker
- 1:52:53Speaker 5: Need a Bit Sweet Love? Right?
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: That was the song? Yes, you're right to Baker, need
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: a Baker.
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: That's way too high to imitate Baker.
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: I know the name, but I couldn't tell you anything
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: that she sings.
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: Okay, So he wanted another hour of that concept.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: Is sweet? Can you give me another song?
- 1:53:24Speaker 8: I don't listen, but my mom.
- 1:53:26Speaker 9: I grew up on my mom's Anita Baker, Whitney Houston,
- 1:53:30Speaker 9: Tony Braxton, all those CDs like Your.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: Cake Out in the Rain. That's that's Donna's song. I
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: know that that's another one of those documentaries coming out soon.
- 1:53:40Speaker 4: They're all in the same category for Love to Love.
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: You Donna Summer coming up on HBO.
- 1:53:44Speaker 8: Max.
- 1:53:44Speaker 6: I believe fred In Lymington, may I'm here for it.
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: I used to get her and Whitney used and confused.
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: Fred says, I see that some of you were involved
- 1:53:53Speaker 6: just filming the new schedule release video. It was excellent.
- 1:53:56Speaker 6: After watching it a few times, I still couldn't figure
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: out for the play. The Philly fan, he wasn't a player,
- 1:54:03Speaker 6: he was actually a real Philly fan. The fish feeder
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: that was Pete Rock. The couch sleeper, we're.
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: Not saying who that was, mysterious man.
- 1:54:12Speaker 6: And the guy reading Patriot Football Weekly that was Steve Nelson.
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: Uh well, and so there you go.
- 1:54:18Speaker 4: There you go.
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, the person who was sleeping shall be named
- 1:54:23Speaker 6: shall remain.
- 1:54:24Speaker 8: But we will take your best guesses at who it was.
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: Yeah, reddits already guess just for fun.
- 1:54:28Speaker 9: Yeah, it might be totally bantacamp you set.
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: There are some weird ones. I was like, that's definitely
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: not dead.
- 1:54:39Speaker 5: So you used to confuse Donna Summer and Whitney Houston
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: all the time. I have an issue like that, Donna
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: Summer older oh much.
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I was like six first of all, and I'm
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: you know, my parents listen to all the all that
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: type of stuff, and it starts to blend together when
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: you're half paying attention.
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: And I can definitely see that Tony Braxton Anita Acre
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: cross over for your mom, good stuff. Tony Braxton was
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: aspite the fact that she broke up about five different
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: NBA teams, did she date Curtis for a while and
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: that that was bad for us too?
- 1:55:16Speaker 8: She was so young for all that.
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: Jimmy Jackson apparently Jason kim k is buying a house
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: and Tom Brady.
- 1:55:25Speaker 9: I will be so disappointed if that's an actual thing,
- 1:55:29Speaker 9: and like really credible celebrity gossip accounts.
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: That you know, me and the girls Kardashian, I'm sorry
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: what Fred is.
- 1:55:40Speaker 9: I agree with Fred because I was like kim k
- 1:55:42Speaker 9: who because it was just so inconceivable in that Tom Brady, how.
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: Do you go from just I'm sorry, I just wouldn't
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: be surprised at all. I would I wouldn't either think
- 1:55:53Speaker 4: it's a huge different what you.
- 1:55:55Speaker 6: Want about about but I think she went authentic.
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I think if you wanted to say, how could
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: you go from like Bridget moynihan to Kim, that I
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: could see another one.
- 1:56:08Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: I don't think she's as bad as Kardashian.
- 1:56:10Speaker 6: Stay away from that family as far away as he can.
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: Well, so they've been the Kardashian jenders have been in
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: a lot of Laker games in this playoff run, and
- 1:56:20Speaker 4: Kim came like two games in a row, just like
- 1:56:23Speaker 4: by herself to a Laker game. So then the whereas
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: Okay won the Lakers, is she hating is the obvious question.
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: And then this came out that that she was buying
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: a house or in talks of buying a house in
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: the same uh you know rich area, that that Tom
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: Brady lives in his golf cart. She's too thick for
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: him photographed. That's a good point, maybe missing, that's true,
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: very different.
- 1:56:48Speaker 8: I think Kim is on the ozembic now too, so
- 1:56:50Speaker 8: they're all getting thin again.
- 1:56:54Speaker 14: That is.
- 1:56:56Speaker 6: Just filled for type two diabetes that rich people take
- 1:56:58Speaker 6: to lose weight.
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I believe you.
- 1:57:03Speaker 6: Right now.
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like looks.
- 1:57:06Speaker 6: Great, like insurance doesn't cover it. So it's like fifteen
- 1:57:08Speaker 6: hundred bucks a month to take it.
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: Well, she's single, so she's got you know. Oh, she's
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: ready to make money.
- 1:57:14Speaker 9: Isn't an object except for the poor people on toys
- 1:57:17Speaker 9: that need their diabetes medication can't get it.
- 1:57:20Speaker 6: Yeah, who was somebody said this morning? You know what
- 1:57:22Speaker 6: they say about celebrities. You're not ugly, you're just poor.
- 1:57:25Speaker 8: Yeah, that's my favorite mod host.
