3:38
the Canal Charleston Humane Association. Hannah, good morning, welcome to the show.
3:43
Good morning. How are you? I am doing fine. We haven't
3:46
talked in a while. I mean we didn't have a show last week because
3:47
of the fourth of July holiday, and I think maybe you may have been
3:51
away before that. So how have you been. I've been great. I've
3:55
been great. How have you? I'm doing fine? Are you? Are
3:59
you remaining keeping all the animals cool up there as well. Oh yeah,
4:02
we're doing our bet all right. So let's get to our pet of the
4:05
week. As always, we have the picture posted on Dave Island Radio and
4:09
Facebook and at Dave eight seventy on x. The artist formerly known as Twitter
4:14
Gravy. You know, I love that Gravy is our pet of the week
4:17
this week. Tell us all about Gravy, all right. Well, he
4:23
is a very very handsome dog. He is around three years old. He's
4:30
a bigger dog, so he's right up my alley. I wish I could
4:32
take him, but I already have so many. He is fifty like fifty
4:38
six and maybe pounds, which, of course that is probably the biggest he's
4:43
gonna get where he is three years old. However, I guess it depends
4:46
on how you see him. Like the rest of us, it depends on
4:50
if you give him gravy or not. Yeah, but he's a sweet,
4:55
sweet sweet boy. He's very friendly. We consider him a social butter at
5:00
the shelter, which just kind of insinuates that he's good with everything that we've
5:03
noticed. So he does prefer commer dogs. He plays a little bit.
5:09
He likes to play with toys and stuff, but he's not super like rough
5:13
house dog or anything like that. He likes to kind of chill and he
5:17
came in actually because his owner did pass away, so he doesn't have or
5:24
we don't have much information on his background, but we do know that he
5:29
knows how to sick, he knows how to shake, and he knows how
5:30
to speak, so he does have some of those few basic commands already.
5:36
But he chose to be kid friendly from what we have noticed. Of course,
5:42
I always say this every single time because I cannot suss it enough.
5:45
To make sure that you are not leaving your kids and a dog that is
5:50
new to the home alone in the house. That is just for everybody's safety.
5:55
You never know what might be a trigger for a new dog in the
5:58
home, so to teach your kid's boundaries as all as the animals. But
6:02
other than that, he does pool on the leash a little bit, so
6:05
he could use a little work on that, but it's not much. He's
6:09
definitely very very chill, laid back guy. But he's very social, very
6:14
sweet with people, so he's got it all. He's just a good all
6:17
around dog. Any idea what kind of doggy is what breedy is, Hannah.
6:23
I mean, i'd have to say he's got some sort of pity in
6:26
him, some sort of bully or something in him, but it's possible he
6:30
could have other stuff in here. He's very pretty. He's got very pretty
6:33
brown brown eyes that match his first so he's really cute. He's a beautiful
6:38
dog. And again you can see the picture. I've got to post it
6:40
on Dave Alan Radio and Facebook and at Dave A seventy on X. I'll
6:45
remind you that today Violin showing five Dye Live is broad to part by Pinnacle
6:47

6:53
respiratory problems, and more. Pinnacle Consultants are for specialized indoor air quality
6:57

7:01
Corp dot net because what you don't know can hurt you. I got a
7:03
text waiting on you this morning, Hannah. Your fans are calling. Are
7:06
you ready? Yep? Says how are the Fayette Parvo pup and sister doing
7:13
this morning? She was at risk of being euthanized if no one took her,
7:16
so a huge thank you, and God bless you to all of you
7:18
at the Gnaal Charles and Humaine Association. We are so blessed to have you
7:21
in our community, says the texture the Fayette parvo pup and her sister,
7:26
Hannah. If it's the one that I'm thinking, believe that they are doing
7:31
good and that they're coming right through the whole parvo situation right now, so
7:38
they're on track to being adoptable, I believe. So if you want to
7:43
know more information, if you know what we've named them, you can always
7:46
call the shelter and you can ask about them and we can tell you more
7:49
in depth details about what's going on with their treatment and how they're doing.
7:54
How are the numbers looking at the shelter? I know I saw one of
7:57
the video tours that you had done maybe earlier this week or maybe last week,
8:01
and you had somebody on camera there which is just going through and kind
8:05
of give it a video tour of the shelter, and I mean, you
8:07
know, you got dogs living in offices at that time. You got to,
8:13
you know, anywhere you can find a place. How are the numbers
8:16
looking over all? Hannah? So a cad bit better still housing them pretty
8:22
much in multiple different areas. I know that we've had one that was housed
8:28
in our back office. I think we have one that's housed during the day
8:33
in one of our front offices. But I think that most of them are
8:35
back into kennels and stuff right now. But we're still full, Like the
8:39
kennels are still full. It's just we were able to move the ones that
8:41
were being housed everywhere else back into kennels. So still still looking for people
8:48
to come out and to adopt. Our Bissell specials going on right now.
8:52
So all of the adult dogs captain kittens, they're thirty dollars to adopt.
8:56
That still includes their spay, neuter, micro chip, vaccines, treat or
9:01
flea treatment, and their dewormer as well. Of course, of course we
9:03
always include that, but that is something that is included in the thirty dollars
9:07
if you want to adopt now. I always like to produce your social media
9:11
before we do the segmenta Friday, and you focus just do a fantastic job
9:16
in your social media not only listing the pictures of the animals that are up
9:20
for adoption, but also the other activities you've got going on and I think
9:22
a couple of your team members are hitting the road, is that right.
9:26
Yeah, So we do have some that are at a conference right now,
9:31
so they're kind of just furthering their education. They're also speaking at the conference,
9:39
so they will be talking. I think there's three of them that are
9:41
going to believe it's China and Julie and Sarah, and they are going to
9:45
be presenting holistic approaches for shelter dogs and behavior. So that's going to be
9:50
really interesting. I hope its the video, and I think it usually is,
9:54
but I'm not sure if they'll post it or not, so I'm definitely
9:56
curious to see how it goes. Yeah, and and again, anytime you
10:00
can learn more information and kind of bring it back home, you know,
10:03
that's always a good thing. Also, I want to give a shout out
10:05
and I got this off your social media as well, to the folks at
10:07
Night Owl Tattoo. They're located in Tayese Valley. They're helping you guys out
10:13
with an event next Thursday from eleven to seven. Check this out. They're
10:16
doing some select designs of tattoos next Thursday for only forty dollars and they're also
10:22
accepting donations of purina, dog and cat foods, blankets, towels, cleaning
10:26
supplies and the like. And even if you don't want a tattoo or you
10:30
can't make it there that day, I'm sure they'd be glad to take your
10:31
donations. It's night our tattoo thirty seven fifty seven tays Valley Road and Hurricane
10:37
Patronize these folks. Good people for I don't know anybody there. I don't
10:41
have a tattoo, no, but I want to get one, but good
10:43
people for doing this. And it's just another example of how the business community
10:48
Hannah here in the Kanaal Valley always steps up to help you folks at the
10:52
shelter. Yes, Jess, we're very appreciative of it, and I know
10:56
that with them they did let us know that you don't have to have anointment.
11:00
You can just come in and we will also have some I believe we'll
11:03
have some puppies and maybe some adult dogs. I know we'll have puppies though
11:07
on site there in the parking lot to be able to try to get some
11:11
of those adopted if anybody's interested. But there are definitely some cute designs on
11:15
there, so come on out it's next Thursday, and that's at night out
11:20
Tattoo thirty seven and fifty seven tays Valley Road in Hurricane that since Thursday from
11:24
eleven till seven. Another text for you, Hannah said, would it be
11:26
possible to do some pets in prison programs? Here? Rescue dogs and cats
11:31
help teach inmates trust and responsibility. By bringing rescues and prisoners together in a
11:35
remarkable rehabilitation program, it helps inmates on valuable lessons and reduces the euthanization rates.
11:43
Yeah. So I'm not sure if they're asking if they if we could
11:48
bring some there or not, but we already do a few different prison programs.
11:52
So we send selet dogs out that are approved togure out to the prison
11:56
program when they get taught basic commands. We have a list of them for
12:00
whenever they get adopted, so they'll go to like an eight to ten week
12:03
training program with those prisoner prisoners, And of course, you know, it's
12:07
not just any prisoner. I think it's very specific, sure, but I
12:13
do believe that it's very very good. We have had great success with it,
12:16
and we've been doing it for a few years now, so it's very
12:18
very beneficial. To a lot of the dogs that come back as they do
12:24
learn quite a few and I always tell everybody it's dependent on the dog as
12:26
well. They don't come back knowing every single command. So some do,
12:31
but some of them don't. It's just dependent on how the dog learns and
12:33
how quickly they can take all that information in. All Right, Hannah,
12:37
as always, you guys, keep doing what you're doing. We'll talk to
12:39
you next week. Thanks a lot. All right, thank you, and
12:43
a gardner can on Charlesty main association with Gravy. That is our dog this
12:48
week. Gravy, I've got the picture posted on Dave Allen Radio and Facebook
12:50
and also on my x page the Dave Allen Show or at Dave A seventy.
12:54
Gravy is a three year old male, micro chipped and vaccinated. Not
12:58
fixed yet, but we'll be. He was a surrender when his dog when
13:03
his owner rather passed away. He prefers calmer dogs, but loves people,
13:07
very very kid friendly. Pulls slightly on the lease. I'm sure that can
13:13
be worked with because the dog's already pretty smart. He can already sit,
13:16
he can shake, and he can speak. According to Hannah and the folks
13:20
at the shelters. Seems to be like a very good boy, beautiful,
13:22
beautiful dog. Probably maybe a little bit of pit in him, but he's
13:26
he'd be a fantastic pet for somebody again. He loves kids, loves people.
13:31
Probably somebody with some calmer dogs. He's only three years old. He's
13:35
going to be a pretty good well he's actually probably already or pretty much fully
13:39
grown, but micro chip and vaccinated, ready to go home. So go
13:43
get Gravy. I love saying that, Go get Gravy. We got the
13:46
picture posted on my social media pages, So go check out Gravy. In

16:56
Plus Tony Hodge, who's the vice chair of the West Virginian Publican Party,

will be on the show on Monday as well. After a week offer Regatta,
17:03
the Moses Auder Group Live on the Levee is back tonight and had ad
17:07
Riverfront Park featuring Cornroy Brown at the local honeys Jim Stron, I'm trying to
17:12
make a joke about honey with you, and I just got a little local
17:15
honey. It's local honey. Yeah, local, We're not. We'll let
17:18
people kind of devise their own or come up with their own jokes because there's
17:22
probably something there, right right. Yeah. Yeah. So first of all,
17:26
yeah, how in the world did I rate? Mean? You got
17:27
doctor Casey Sacks on this show, and Joe Stevens and Jim Strown. I
17:32
mean, who doesn't belong there? Well, you belong over all of them.
17:36
I love me some doctor Sacks. She does a great job. She's
17:37
on her honeymoon or she was about those pictures, they were great. She's
17:41
she's doing an awesome job. And of course, Joe, Joe, if
17:44
you're listening, you know you do he just oh yeah, I know,
17:45
Jim, I do a great job. A joke. Joe does a great
17:48
job's the bass. The biggest problem I had when I have Joe Stevens on
17:52
the areas that he and I always know all we want to do is talk
17:55
about baseball and also at O his Orioles and my and I'm supporting the Red
18:00

18:04
which team shows up, but we're both the Joe and I are both Dallas
18:07
Cowboy fans, so we have that in commons. So Live on the Levees
18:11
back tonight, Jim. Yeah, Season twenty. Here we are week number
18:14
seven. If you're waiting to go to Life on the Levee, you don't
18:15
have as many opportunities left as you think. We only have after tonight three
18:21
more Live on the Levee, So get down there tonight. It's going to
18:23
be a little warm, but as the weather guys have been telling me,
18:26
it's like a little warm breeze off of the Canar River down there. But
18:30
at six point thirty it had that river Front Park launching a week number seven.
18:34
You mentioned Corduroy Brown. I'm calling tonight little an I sixty four West
18:40
theme because corduroys from down in the Huntington area, and he does. People
18:45
love to listen to him. I've listened to him, and he does people
18:47
when they say they listen to him, he brings a feel good, poppy
18:49
kind of a rock, feel good sound. He's got a little Appalachian indie
18:55
rock inning. He writes some of his own stuff. He's got great albums
18:57
out. He won Apple Latch that an Album of the Year a few years
19:00
back. So he does a great job. He'll play for sixty minutes,
19:04
we'll take a little break, we'll make some announcements. We'll let you get
19:07
a bite to eat, maybe a spirited beverage. In the seven forty five
19:11
you mentioned the local Honeys. They're from a little further down I sixty four
19:15
Western from out of Kentucky. The local Honeys. Two young ladies, Montana
19:18
Hobbs and Linda Jeans Soakeley with a nice band behind them, an amazing harmony,
19:23
got a great band behind them. And one of my all time great
19:27
country artists. One of my favorites was Tom T Hall. All of me
19:30
too. I love some Tom T. Hall. And he's from Kentucky,
19:33
Olfhill, Kentucky. He just he says, these guys, these ladies are
19:37
the real deal. They're honest to goodness Kentuckians with the great Appalachian sound.
19:42
As far as their harmony, he's really high on them. They was,
19:47
Yeah, Yeah, they have been. They've been traveling and we're gonna welcome
19:52
them to West Virginia tonight at seven forty five. They'll give us two to
19:56
forty five minute sets, taking us to nine thirty. As always, Levy
20:00
is great fun for that great cause. We help those five inner city charities
20:04
every Friday night with a fifty to fifty drawing, So come down, get
20:07
your bite, get you a beverage, and get you a fifty to fifty
20:11
ticket as we help our CCR Covenant House, Sojourner Shelter MANO Meal in the
20:15

20:21
I'm keeping unofficial tabs. We've raised one hundred and twenty three thousand dollars because
20:25
people are supporting this with their generosity and their kindness and pulling out a five
20:30

20:36
give that away about eight forty every Friday night. But it's been a good
20:41
thing, great fun for a great cause. That's that's been that tagline for
20:45
twenty years. And thank you Tom Lane and for coming up with the idea
20:49

20:52

You know the mayor. You've had her on tons of time and she'll
21:03

21:07
it does take a village to put this thing together. And I know here
21:10
we are back at it again after the regatta, which was a smashing success
21:14
by all appearance. And we're just a canal valley, the city of Charleston

21:22

21:26
We're going to be having a fun time. South Charleston's got the Summerfest

It's going to be a little warm, but it's still I mean by
23:21

23:23
than maybe tomorrow night or the following it because we're going to be in the
23:26

23:29

27:17
late. Apparently he was on the Gym justice schedule. I guess somebody asked
27:23
me in the hall this morning, they said, what did you watch the
27:26
press conference of What was your opinion of it? It all depends on which
27:29
side you're on. I mean, I watched the entire thing, watched a
27:32
lot of the analysis afterwards from various sources from News Nation to ce an end
27:38
to Fox. I was kind of bouncing around and reading a lot on Twitter
27:41
or AX. I should say, if you are a Democrat and you're a
27:45
Joe Biden supporter, you thought matter of fact, I saw one of one
27:49
of the major Democratic funds saying, the President knocked it out of the park.
27:55
This was the Joe we're always waiting for, we've all been waiting for.
27:57
I was time and and I just look and I say, what exactly
28:03
were you watching last night? First of all, they called it, they
28:07
said it was going to be a big boy press conference. Okay, he
28:11
walks in and he's got in his pocket the people that he's going to call
28:15
on. And if you notice the people, and I don't know how they
28:19
chose who they were going to call on, how the who the how the
28:22
president chose those particular people. But if you look at it, there was
28:30
anyone that has been critical of Biden, whether it's the liberal or conservative press.
28:38
They they weren't asked questions or they didn't get to ask questions. No
28:42
CNN, no Fox, no Wall Street Journal, no Washington Post that I
28:47
saw, no New York Times, Reuter's was called upon Scripts News service.
28:52
There was a few of them, of course. The biggest. The biggest
28:57
thing is is that the president, you know, refer to his vice president
29:00
Donald Trump. Earlier in the day, he referred to Vilenskys as Putin,
29:08
And are these just look I mess up all the time. I have a
29:12
little bit of a speech issue, as my father did as well. But
29:15
come on, I mean, there is no possible way that you can have
29:22
watched that press conference last night and think it's a good idea that Joe Biden
29:27
continues and the Republicans, many of the Republicans are saying, keep him in
29:33
there, we want him, just keep him in there. Absolutely, So

29:53
I watched it, and it was it was pretty bad. It was
29:57
pretty bad. Was it as bad as the debates? No, was it
30:00
as bad as the as the interview with seven novelists from ABC News last Friday
30:06
night, Probably not, but if they were, in my opinion, and
30:10
again you're speaking to somebody who also doesn't support Donald Trump. So if you
30:15
were looking for that grand moment that says, hey, our guy is back,
30:18
this is Joe, Joe's fine, that wasn't it last night? That
30:23
certainly was not it. And I've got a headline coming across now that said
30:27
now up to seventeen Democrats are asking Joe Biden to walk away. So there

is that. But Dave Islands showing five dy line brought to you apart by

Good morning, Dave. Great to be with you today, Great to
35:02
have you here. First of all, I'm gonna ask me. I'm gonna
35:06
get personal. How was the honeymoon? Oh? We had such a nice
35:08
time. Thank you for asking. The food was by far the most memorable
35:12
part. That's what I want to hear. About Let's forget about this higher
35:15
education stuff. Let's talk about the food. What was the highlight of the
35:16
food on your and where did you go and what was the highlight of the
35:20
most I think for me, I actually learned that pasta isn't commonplace throughout Italy,
35:25
that when you're in Venice it's a swamp, and that you should be
35:30
eating food, and maybe that you should be eating some rice and maybe fish,
35:34
and that pasta is a lot more popular as you get to places where
35:37
we actually grow. Yeah, it's kind of the americanized version, I guess.
35:43
So, So pasta was your or what was the favorite food that you
35:46
had? Was you never want to see? Chocolate was first? My favorite?
35:51
All right, we'll leave it there on that chocolate. All right.
35:54
Let's talk about faster faster Fridays. Explain again and you've done it in the
35:59
past is can't have when he's been on the show too Faster Fridays are going
36:01
on? What is fast and what are you doing so FASTA is the free
36:06
application for federal student aid. It's also the baseline application that the State of
36:09
West Virginia asks folks to fill out to be eligible for West Virginia State aid,
36:15
and it's it's a form where you tell the government how much money your
36:19
family made in the last year, and then they award you funds to help
36:23
you pay for higher education. It's like so many government forms, it can
36:29
be really frustrating, and so we've set up a series of workshops and just
36:34
support on Fridays. Really will support students any day that they want help filling
36:37
it out, but we're intentional on Fridays to say come in get help with
36:43
this form because I know when I was a student and tried to fill it
36:45
out, it made me cry, and so we just don't want other people
36:49
to have that. We don't want tears on the college campus. What's the
36:52
timeframe of that that you do that. It's any Friday, come on in
36:57
between nine o'clock and four o'clock. We have some of the and financial aid
37:00
who can help you with it, but we also have staff available any day
37:05
if that's something that you're struggling with and it's really important to get it filled
37:09
out so that you can get some extra help to pay for college. We
37:13
know that it can get expensive for families and we want it to be as
37:15
affordable as possible. That's time we had kent On. That was a couple
37:20
of weeks. We talked about a partnership with Goldman Sachs. The Bridge Valley's
37:22
got talk about that. Yeah, oh gosh, it's so fun. So
37:25
Goldman Sachs has a program that's called ten Thousand Small Businesses where they are committed
37:30
The Bridge Valley's got talk about that. Yeah, oh gosh, it's so
37:35
fun. So Goldman Facts has a program that's called ten Thousand Small Businesses where
37:38
they are committed to helping small businesses grow. They want small businesses to grow
37:44
their revenue and to be able to hire more employees than they have right now.
37:49
And so they started looking about how do they expand their project into rural
37:52
areas of the United States, And they found Charleston, and they found us
37:58
and said, gosh, it would be great if we partnered with Bridge Valley
38:00
to be able to offer us to small business owners in West Virginia. So
38:04
we'll start our first cohort in September. It's completely free to small business owners.
38:09
Goldman Taste for everything, and if you have to come in from farther
38:13
than an hour away, they'll put you up in a hotel for a couple
38:15
of days that you need to be in Charleston for classes. They're really committed
38:20
to helping our small business owners right here in West Virginia be able to grow
38:23
their revenue and grow their team. That's amazing and I'm presuming you have information
38:28
about that available on your website. We sure do. Bridge Valley dot edu.
38:31
Now that this partnership with West Virginia University for aspiring nurses, talk about
38:36
that. So it's WVU Medicine. The hospital system has committed funds to students
38:43
who say, yes, I want to be a nurse, and yes I'm
38:45
willing to work at WVU. And frankly, a lot of our students want
38:50
to work at WVU Medicine. So this isn't a hardship. And what they
38:54
do is they pay students to go to school. They realize that some of
38:58
the obstacles for students are the entry level obstacles, and that means getting through
39:02
the program as opposed to becoming a nurse and then deciding that they want to
39:07
go to work for WVU Medicine. So what WVU Medicine has done is that
39:10
they've gone in and said, let's talk to your students and let's pick some
39:15
of them, and if they're willing to come and say they'll be nurses here
39:20
at the hospital, we're willing to invest in them upfront. And so that
39:22
means that the hospital is paying students five thousand dollars in a semester just to
39:28
go to school and a five thousand dollars signing bonus when they graduate from school
39:31
to sign on and be nurses if they're any WVU Medicine healthcare facility in the
39:37
state, and we definitely need nurses, Doctor Saxon West Virginia, I mean
39:42
with our aging population, and plus, what I love about the program is
39:45
it's healthcare professionals that are going to be staying here. That's true, and
39:51
that's actually something we're really proud about at Bridge Valley is that most of our
39:54
students stay here. That folks who decide they want to go to Bridge Valley
39:59
want to go to Bridge Valley because they're really committed to our community. And
40:02
we're very intentional at the college about designing our programs so that they meet our
40:07
local businesses needs. So we really customize instruction so that if CAMC or WVU
40:14
Medicine says, here's how we need you to teach someone to do an echo
40:19
cardiogram on a heart. We do it the way they want us to because
40:22
they're going to be the employer who hires you. At the end of the

According to USA Today, one in seven children in West Virginia face food
42:39
insecurity issues. Hi, I'm Jason Quintrel, President and CEO of Union Mission
42:45
Ministries. There are some obstacles our children face with access to food, despite
42:49
many feeding programs available. That is why Union Mission has partnered with some local
42:54
middle schools to place food directly into the hands of children who need it.

44:52
Sure, our good friend, mister Joe Stevens, Joe, good morning,
44:54
Welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave. Let's go o.
44:59
You had get the baseball reference in there to start things right, just had
45:02
to get it out of the way. Is it going to come down to
45:06
Cleveland and Baltimore in the al in your opinion, it's what I'm thinking,
45:10
and if give me a couple starting pitchers, I feel a lot better about
45:15
it. I get it. We had a few things to talk about in
45:17
Nitro. One of those is we got a bridge closure. Let's talk about
45:21
that fortieth Street bridge, which is a it's right at Second Avenue in Nitro.
45:27
It's a connector between cross Lanes Drive and Route twenty five that was closed
45:34
for resurfacing, complete resurfacing of the deck beginning this Monday, this past Monday.
45:40
And these guys have been working hard, really just I mean getting the
45:45
job done. And it's a it's a West Virginia Department Transportation project, it's
45:50
a regularly scheduled bridge maintenance scenario. But the bridge is total closed, no
45:57
traffic one way either way, and it'll probably be that way until until about
46:02
August twelfth, fourteenth or fifteen, somewhere around there. So I know a
46:07
lot of planning had to go in because you just don't shut down a major
46:09
bridge and a major artery like that. A lot of planning had to go
46:13
into this. We when we saw the signs being erected about six weeks ago,
46:19
that alerted us, right away and we contacted the Department of Transportation to
46:22
find out what their plan was, and we were able to talk to the
46:27
project engineer and he gave us a total rundown of what was going to happen.
46:31
Being that we learned it six weeks out, we were able to start
46:35
to make some contingency plans, especially for emergency responses on fortieth Street, for
46:42
the police, for the fire, for public works, for the Amblance service,
46:46
that sort of thing. So we've and also not only for Nitro,
46:52
but for all the mutual aid areas that come in to help if we have
46:55
something where we need outside help, say from Post or Tyler Mountain or Tays
47:01
Valley or Saint Albans fire departments or the Sheriff's department. So everybody had to
47:06
be on the same page on how to respond. We've reached out to Metro
47:09
nine one one in Canall County and Putnam nine one one, and just everybody
47:15
is on the same page when it comes to if we have to respond in
47:19
that area. And we've also got some things going on this weekend as far
47:22
as some driving situations right yeah, and just to want of them, just
47:27
reassure everybody when those yellow buses start rolling on August the sixteenth in Canall County.
47:35
The bridge. We're being assured that the bridge is going to be done,
47:38
so that so parents out there wondering about bus pickup and everything. Jason
47:44
Redmand, the Department of the school's transportation director, he's been in the loop.
47:50
The yellow buses will be rolling, So just wanted to get that out
47:53
there to Dave. And like you said, this is a one busy weekend
47:57
in Nitro, especially tonight here Friday night, we've got the nine to one
48:00
to one Pickleball serving the public. You know, that's that has already started.
48:07
That got underway at eight o'clock this morning at the Nitro Sports Complex.
48:12
There is a a Nitro Antique Car Club cruise in tonight where we close down
48:19
Second Avenue and we've got just great antique cars coming in and that'll be on
48:24
Second Avenue. But also this weekend we are the host the Nitro Little League
48:31
is the host of the state softball tournament for eight to ten year old and
48:37
we've got one hundred and forty four softball players from around the state coming in
48:42
the Nitro for that tournament that gets underway for play on tomorrow tomorrow morning.
48:47
But tonight at Nitro High School around the track and everything, they're going to
48:51
have a parade with the kids introducing all the all stars and that sort of
48:54
thing. So that's going on also, and we've, like you said,
49:00
two hundred pickball players from fourteen states will be competing in singles, doubles and
49:07
mixed doubles at the sports complex. I tell you what, Johnny Rufffort and
49:10
his crew over there with Metro ninety one to one, they've got it all
49:14
planned out. It's just like I said, exciting weekends, and not only
49:17
an exciting week in Nicro. We've talked about this before, Dave, It's
49:21
an exciting weekend throughout Kanall Valley. You had Jimmy Straw and on earlier talking
49:25
about Live in the Levee. Just a lot of things going on. All
49:29
right, Well, Joe, I wish you the best of luck with everything
49:31
that's going on in Nitro, especially with that traffic situation there with the bridge.
49:36
But you were telling us the bridge will be open in time when the
49:37
younguins go back to school. Right, That's what we're being told, and
49:42
that's our story and we're sticking to it. Hold on one second, I
49:45
got a text here for you. Okay, can you take a teck?
49:47
So the Department of Highways didn't tell Nitro about their project and Nitro had to
49:51
take the lead when they saw signs. No, sir, we were alerted
49:55
to it. But it also the signs gave us a good reminder of it.
50:00
The Communications Department of DOAHS had a couple of months ago said this is
50:07
going to be coming up. Be looking for the sign That was a good
50:09
alert. No, they have been completely open with everything that's been going on.
50:14
All right, Joe, I appreciate it, man, thanks a lot.
50:16
You got it, Dave. Three minutes away from ten and I actually
50:20
had a text from Johnny Rutherford about the piccol eating contest. Ryan. They
50:24
have enough pickle leaders apparently, from what I understand. So the piccol Eading
50:29
contest is the night at six thirty, the community night itself and nitros from
50:31
five to eight with music and swimming and whatever and the and pickleball play.
50:37
Of course, with this big tournament, I mean you got you know,
50:39
I mean dozens of states represented, the top ranked players in the world have
50:44
come in for this thing and the pickle eating contest. Apparently they have enough
50:47
pickle leaders for the contests. So everything is good there. That is at
50:52
six point thirty to night, all going on in Nitro. Well could you
50:55
use five hundred gallons for free gasoline? Can image? And who couldn't.

Final text of the Day and of the Week says Dave. I know you
51:44
won't be able to read all of these, but I'm tired of hearing about
51:45
how much of a liar Trump is. Biden is no saint either. People.
51:50
It is time to admit that. And they gave me roughly I'm going
51:54
to say about probably fifteen to twenty Biden claims versus reality. And unfortunately these
52:00
old eyes really can't see them all. But I mean, yeah, I
52:06
mean yeah, I'm gonna end the show right by saying, yeah, that's
52:10
