- 1:01Speaker 2: review podcast.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and today we are.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Recapping The Way Home finale of season one. Not all
- 1:10Speaker 2: who wander are lost. If you'd like to connect with

- 1:22Speaker 1: You can also jump into our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Tons of new people over there. There was a little
- 1:29Speaker 1: discussion about this finale episode not a ton.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I think it's going to kick up as people are
- 1:34Speaker 2: catching it on their DVR.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Plus, I don't think people want to like spoil right,
- 1:39Speaker 1: come on over.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Before we get into our recap, I wanted to share
- 1:44Speaker 2: that we got a message and I apologize if it
- 1:46Speaker 2: was you who sent it. I dug into my Instagram
- 1:49Speaker 2: at DMS, I looked on our email. I don't know
- 1:52Speaker 2: where this comment came in, but it was in regards
- 1:55Speaker 2: to Kat using the name Rose and the grief support
- 1:58Speaker 2: group and it is. Commenter pointed out that the name
- 2:02Speaker 2: of their boat is the Delilah Rose, So apparently that's
- 2:06Speaker 2: her mother's either middle name or it's a nickname that
- 2:09Speaker 2: Colton had for her.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I see, I see.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I've noticed this is not unique to the Way Home.
- 2:14Speaker 2: But like typically when they choose previously on scenes, they're
- 2:17Speaker 2: choosing scenes that will feed It's not like just last episode. Yeah, Like,
- 2:22Speaker 2: let's choose scenes that are going to be about what
- 2:24Speaker 2: this is about, right, So I want to tell you
- 2:26Speaker 2: just what the previously on was for this before you
- 2:28Speaker 2: jump into our.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Recap, tell me, because I don't know if I paid
- 2:30Speaker 1: that close attention.
- 2:31Speaker 2: We get Colton singing to dell in the past when
- 2:34Speaker 2: he's with Alice and Dell Is coming down the stairs.
- 2:37Speaker 2: We get a way throwback to Cat wondering who sent
- 2:41Speaker 2: the note to your mom. We hear dell Is really
- 2:45Speaker 2: said on the idea that there was another woman, and
- 2:47Speaker 2: then we get Elliot mad at Cat that she's not
- 2:52Speaker 2: here with him, and I had to say a real
- 2:55Speaker 2: accate representation of what we're going to get in this episode.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Definitely Are you ready?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:01Speaker 1: It opens we see the full moon and then we
- 3:03Speaker 1: see Colton's car crash again. Kat Alice are running through
- 3:06Speaker 1: their woods sobbing, coming out of the cold pond in
- 3:10Speaker 1: present day, and Elliott there is there and Cat is
- 3:13Speaker 1: screaming it was my fault, It was my fault. And
- 3:15Speaker 1: I got to say, like, wow, that was a great
- 3:18Speaker 1: scene by Kyler Lee where she was like freezing cold,
- 3:22Speaker 1: shaking out yes with the realization of what just happened.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yes, I wrote masterful performance from Kyler Lee there.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah. We cut to Elliott's home.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Alice is asleep on the couch and Cat's talking to
- 3:35Speaker 2: Elliott saying she should have listened about Elliott saying what
- 3:38Speaker 2: has happened will always happen, And Elliott repeats that. Cat
- 3:41Speaker 2: wonders if he would have died anyway, if she hadn't
- 3:44Speaker 2: gone back, would Colton still have died? And this is
- 3:48Speaker 2: the kind of time travel circular logic that again makes
- 3:51Speaker 2: my brain short circuit. But she's telling Elliott Colton knew
- 3:55Speaker 2: who she was, he recognized her, my cat, my Catherine.
- 4:00Speaker 2: She wonders what that means, and Elliott doesn't know either.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's That's what I'm find confusing and hard to believe,
- 4:07Speaker 1: is because Elliott has always stood firm that like what
- 4:10Speaker 1: has happened will always happen, But how does he actually know?
- 4:15Speaker 1: That gets to be frustrating for me as a viewer,
- 4:20Speaker 1: Like he's not all telling it, like he doesn't know everything.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I agree with you. There, we get some perspective into
- 4:28Speaker 2: Elliott in this episode.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yeah I will wait.
- 4:32Speaker 2: For but I think speaks to his firm belief that
- 4:35Speaker 2: what has happened will always happen.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but like it just drives me crazy. Where Kat's
- 4:39Speaker 1: like trying to She's like talking through it, right, like
- 4:44Speaker 1: she needs, and I'm the same way, like I need
- 4:46Speaker 1: to verbally process yes, and I need somebody just to
- 4:50Speaker 1: listen to me. Yes, but like for him to be like,
- 4:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm telling you that what happened has
- 4:57Speaker 1: always happened, but I don't know, like if he would
- 5:01Speaker 1: have died or not. So I just it's a thing.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It's a me thing.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Kat's angry with herself that she put Alice through, that
- 5:08Speaker 2: that Alice had to see that accident, and she remembers
- 5:13Speaker 2: Alice was at Colton's funeral and that this is going
- 5:15Speaker 2: to be the last time that young Cat saw Alice,
- 5:18Speaker 2: and she and Elliott are realizing this is going to
- 5:20Speaker 2: be Alice's last trip back. Elliott wants her to tell
- 5:23Speaker 2: Alice that it's over, that they need to move on
- 5:25Speaker 2: and be in the presence.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Cut to the opening title, We come back and Alice
- 5:30Speaker 1: and Kat are at home. Alice tells Kat that Coltman's
- 5:33Speaker 1: death was her fault because Kat chose Alice over Colton.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's what I've written here.
- 5:39Speaker 2: That's correct, okay, And she saved her in the street, right,
- 5:44Speaker 2: So she feels guilt.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yes, you know that it was her fault, not Cat's.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Fault.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So Cat tells Alice that they need to have faith
- 5:52Speaker 1: and believe that what happened what has always happened. She's
- 5:55Speaker 1: just reiterating what Elliott has been telling her this entire time.
- 5:59Speaker 1: And we hear a horn honk, and Cat remembers that
- 6:03Speaker 1: Brady's in town to visit, and Alice is like, I
- 6:07Speaker 1: can't deal with him or I don't want to deal
- 6:09Speaker 1: with She knows what's coming.
- 6:11Speaker 2: She just saw her grandfather die. She needs a minute.
- 6:14Speaker 1: She just needs a minute. It doesn't want to deal
- 6:16Speaker 1: with her dad.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Brady's waiting out front, and he asks Kat how she's
- 6:18Speaker 2: been doing, and of course Brady has absolutely no idea
- 6:21Speaker 2: what Cat has been reliving. So he's just thinking about
- 6:24Speaker 2: in terms of their separation, really and he asks if
- 6:28Speaker 2: they should do this. He has Kat they're divorce papers
- 6:33Speaker 2: and says is this the right thing to do? And
- 6:35Speaker 2: then he says, give me a call when you guys
- 6:37Speaker 2: are ready. And I wonder what does Alice have to
- 6:40Speaker 2: do with this? And I it occurred you. We find
- 6:43Speaker 2: out later on that apparently it's like a secret that
- 6:46Speaker 2: they're filing for divorce. You live in another country. Your
- 6:50Speaker 2: daughter is very smart. She knows what's going on.
- 6:53Speaker 1: You're with another woman.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Kat is with Elliott at this point. Yeah, like, oh,
- 6:59Speaker 2: we're gonna surprise, we're getting divorced. I don't this is
- 7:03Speaker 2: not the big reveal. You think it's great?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like, why they need this big sit down talk?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Like I think she realizes what's going on.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and Brady hasn't been there. I think Kat knows
- 7:13Speaker 2: that Alice knows, and Brady feels like they need to
- 7:16Speaker 2: have like a I would hope that Callus knows like callous.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I mean whatever, Yes, it's stupid, Yes, stupid detail on
- 7:25Speaker 2: this storyline.
- 7:26Speaker 1: First, it was not needed all the.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Extra subterfuge, like yeah, the divorce papers I think are
- 7:31Speaker 2: a nice button on this season.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Next thing, we have Cat and Dellan and are in
- 7:35Speaker 1: the kitchen and don't let's to know who was honking?
- 7:37Speaker 1: That would be me, who's honking out front? So rude.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Then they move on to talk about Byron's sudden departure,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and here it is Kat asks who's going to take
- 7:47Speaker 1: over the Harald.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I wrote with Wendy Wright question mark, I'm telling you, well,
- 7:51Speaker 2: who knows.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I'd be right for next season? But it's still is
- 7:56Speaker 1: very unclear to me, like why Byron just bounces Like,
- 8:00Speaker 1: of course we don't have any closure with him. In
- 8:03Speaker 1: this episode, you mentioned like you don't think we're fully
- 8:06Speaker 1: done with him, and maybe we're not.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I didn't, but we'll get there, okay.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Dell is annoyed that Byron has left, and Kat reminds
- 8:15Speaker 1: her that she's the one who showed him the road,
- 8:18Speaker 1: which was quite funny.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Yeah, a, Dell says, easy to releave when the road
- 8:23Speaker 2: gets tough, and I liked Kat's line, you showed him
- 8:25Speaker 2: the road.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, And then right after Kat says it, Dell makes
- 8:28Speaker 1: this like smirky Yeah, I thought it was great.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Cat checks in on Alice and lets her know that
- 8:33Speaker 2: Brady is back at the hotel, and Alice is looking
- 8:36Speaker 2: through the family almanac for Colton's funeral date, and they
- 8:39Speaker 2: find a page where Jacob has sketched his little Jacob
- 8:42Speaker 2: and Cat logo in the almanac. And I did, at
- 8:45Speaker 2: this moment think like, oh, that's interesting, Like when did
- 8:48Speaker 2: that happen? Right, It's just kind of such an obvious
- 8:50Speaker 2: pointed moment. Yeah, Alice wants to go back and be
- 8:53Speaker 2: there for the funeral, and she wants Cat to come
- 8:56Speaker 2: with her, and we see them jumping in the pond together.
- 8:59Speaker 2: In this moment, I wonder, how cold is that pond
- 9:02Speaker 2: water every time they have to jump into it fully clothed, well.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Like in real life. Yes, well, this is what I
- 9:07Speaker 1: was thinking. I recently went on a WB back tour.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and they had this pond there, and the
- 9:15Speaker 1: person was telling us that like they fill it up
- 9:18Speaker 1: with warm water, that the pond has these heaters underneath
- 9:22Speaker 1: it so when they fill it up, it has warm
- 9:23Speaker 1: water for when your actors jumped into it. But with this,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I mean, it could be just wonder older jumping in
- 9:29Speaker 2: because they make it look so cold, not a real.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Pond or jumping into it. I think it's a pool
- 9:35Speaker 1: sure in a sound stage somewhere. I like this saying
- 9:39Speaker 1: because this is everything Cat has wanted for so long.
- 9:41Speaker 1: She wants Alice to want her, and I think, as
- 9:45Speaker 1: a mother of a teenage daughter, I've felt very like
- 9:48Speaker 1: that's all I want for my own daughter.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yeah, she wants her to love her as a mother
- 9:53Speaker 2: as much as she loves Cat. Her young best friends.
- 9:58Speaker 1: We find young Elliot. He's looking out it window. I
- 10:01Speaker 1: think from what I called the treehouse. I don't know.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Oh, I always call it the barn.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Are they in a barn?
- 10:07Speaker 2: Isn't it that big barn?
- 10:08Speaker 1: I think it is a barn like upstairs, But for
- 10:11Speaker 1: some reason, I couldn't remember last night when I was
- 10:13Speaker 1: taking my notes if it was a tree house. I
- 10:15Speaker 1: think it's a barn. I think you're right. Alice comes
- 10:18Speaker 1: in and Elliott's been crying. He said about Colton's death,
- 10:22Speaker 1: and he remembers that he's built this space for them,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and he tells Alice it will mean a lot that
- 10:28Speaker 1: she's there for the funeral, and she's soaking wet, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: she tells him that she needs some clothes. He and
- 10:34Speaker 1: she wants him to bring her some options, which Elliot's
- 10:38Speaker 1: super annoyed by this request. He calls her like demanding
- 10:42Speaker 1: and so on and so forth. But we know as viewers, like,
- 10:45Speaker 1: she needs clothes for her mom. Yes, she's not letting
- 10:49Speaker 1: young Elliott know that adult Cat is there. Yeah, blows
- 10:53Speaker 1: tiny mind.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, he says, I'm only doing this for Cat, and
- 10:56Speaker 2: I thought, yeah, you are well. Actually, we see young
- 11:00Speaker 2: Cat and Brady and Dell arrive at the funeral and
- 11:04Speaker 2: it's it's really striking to see just Cat and Dell.
- 11:08Speaker 2: You know, there's no Colton, there's no Jacob. Alice an
- 11:11Speaker 2: old Cat approach together Cat, but Alice leaves Cat behind.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Kat stays in the shadows, but she's very much in
- 11:20Speaker 2: the open here.
- 11:22Speaker 1: God, And at.
- 11:22Speaker 2: This moment, we just see the family and Elliott. In
- 11:25Speaker 2: my notes, I say, no, da, but give it a second,
- 11:29Speaker 2: because I'm just taking notes in real time. Cat really
- 11:32Speaker 2: looks broken here, and Dell gives a nice speech about
- 11:35Speaker 2: Colton and what he loves, and right in the middle,
- 11:37Speaker 2: I write, oh, there's Rita, and Jude and Joyce are
- 11:39Speaker 2: there as well. Delle calls Colton their North Storm, and
- 11:43Speaker 2: we see Cat crying behind a tree, and Dell spots
- 11:47Speaker 2: her and just has this long moment like she's trying
- 11:51Speaker 2: to make sense of who this woman is. Cat doesn't
- 11:53Speaker 2: even make an attempt. She just stands there sobbing very openly.
- 11:58Speaker 1: She should have did that, you know that, Homer some meme.
- 12:00Speaker 1: We're here.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And this is where Della assumes she's the other woman.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I want to comment on this because you had asked
- 12:09Speaker 2: in a previous episode you for a long time have
- 12:12Speaker 2: positive cats the other woman. We now have proof. We
- 12:15Speaker 2: knew that, but we'd have the proof. And you said,
- 12:18Speaker 2: but if delsa cat, wouldn't she know? And here's the thing.
- 12:22Speaker 2: If I would like to think if I see my
- 12:24Speaker 2: daughter twenty three years from the future in front of
- 12:27Speaker 2: me across a field, that I would recognize her. But
- 12:32Speaker 2: it's how do you make sense of that when your
- 12:34Speaker 2: actual daughter standing right next to you. Even if you think, wow,
- 12:38Speaker 2: that woman looks like my child, is she going to
- 12:40Speaker 2: make the leap? She's a time traveler from the future.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You're not going to make the leap to a time traveler.
- 12:45Speaker 1: But I think there would be some sort of mother's instinct.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It would make your hair stand up on the back
- 12:52Speaker 1: of your neck. I think there would be some sort
- 12:55Speaker 1: of something, and.
- 12:56Speaker 2: That this goes back to the easiest explanation is that
- 12:59Speaker 2: Colton was having an The easiest explanation for Dell in
- 13:01Speaker 2: this moment is that's the other woman. Everyone approaches Dell
- 13:05Speaker 2: to comfort her, and we see Kat and Cat is
- 13:08Speaker 2: coming to another realization another it was me.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It was always me moment, Well, how is she not
- 13:13Speaker 1: there yet?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Okay? So I have been thinking about this because I
- 13:16Speaker 2: made a comment later on that Cat's always the last
- 13:19Speaker 2: person to get there right the bike was her. She
- 13:22Speaker 2: caused Carlton's accident. She's the woman at the funeral, which
- 13:26Speaker 2: she should have realized once the support group was happening.
- 13:30Speaker 2: But I think the reason they give Kat this device
- 13:35Speaker 2: is because they need the viewers to get there in
- 13:38Speaker 2: that moment. If you're not picking up what they're putting
- 13:41Speaker 2: down ahead of time, they need to kind of provide
- 13:44Speaker 2: that oh moment for the viewers.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And Cat is kind of an unfortunate vehicle there next
- 13:50Speaker 1: thing her back in present day and Elliot walks into
- 13:52Speaker 1: the point and he sees Brady sitting there. You can
- 13:54Speaker 1: see Elliott kind of like like stops and like has
- 13:58Speaker 1: a moment of like should I turn around a walk out?
- 14:01Speaker 1: And Brady calls him over to sit down. And at
- 14:03Speaker 1: this point, like I hate Brady like so much, Like
- 14:06Speaker 1: I just feel like he's holding court there a little bit,
- 14:09Speaker 1: like come on over, dude. I just really dislike this character. Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 1: Monica asked what to get them, and of course their
- 14:16Speaker 1: orders are very Brady and very Elliott.
- 14:19Speaker 2: And Elliott is almost like, so Elliott to spite Brady absolutely,
- 14:23Speaker 2: even if Elliott would normally drink a lot day, He's like,
- 14:26Speaker 2: I'll have a house coffee black.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Brady tells Elliott that he knows he has feelings
- 14:31Speaker 1: for a cat and always has, and that the divorce
- 14:33Speaker 1: papers have been served and now that you know that's done,
- 14:37Speaker 1: he can have her, basically, which I was like, you
- 14:41Speaker 1: are such a jerk. Yeah, And he goes on to
- 14:45Speaker 1: tell him that he was actually threatened by Elliott as
- 14:48Speaker 1: a teenager because Elliott was smart and he's the one
- 14:52Speaker 1: that Kat turned to when Kat was feeling hurt and
- 14:56Speaker 1: during the hard times. And Elliot's like, I didn't make
- 15:00Speaker 1: that connection when we were teenagers, but.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you were such a dick you never acted threatens.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Yeah exactly?
- 15:08Speaker 2: Is that ever?
- 15:08Speaker 1: The scene?
- 15:09Speaker 2: And I mean, Elliott kind of tries to shrug it
- 15:11Speaker 2: off and he's like, yeah, we were kids. Then he
- 15:13Speaker 2: quotes Cure Reguard, which is just, oh yeah, so funny
- 15:15Speaker 2: to me because Elliott is clearly the smarter of the two,
- 15:18Speaker 2: like Brady's success we know is based on nepotism, based
- 15:22Speaker 2: on his family's connections, and Elliott is the.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Actual smart dude here, right, And I thought, I can't
- 15:29Speaker 1: remember the quote, but it was fitting for the moment.
- 15:33Speaker 2: In two thousand and we get Alice thanking Elliott for
- 15:36Speaker 2: all of his help, and she says, Hope, I didn't
- 15:38Speaker 2: ruin anything for you. I just wanted to be a
- 15:41Speaker 2: part of this world. She tells him how important he
- 15:43Speaker 2: is to her in the present day, which I think
- 15:45Speaker 2: is really lovely. And Alice watches everyone get in the
- 15:48Speaker 2: car and go and not one of those weird scenes,
- 15:51Speaker 2: no one's like, Ellis, how are you getting home from
- 15:53Speaker 2: this middle of nowhere? Yeah, but I guess you just
- 15:55Speaker 2: appear from the woods. She turns to look at her
- 15:58Speaker 2: mom and both women kind of share this broken hearted moment.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Now here's the thing. Could dell have come to the
- 16:06Speaker 1: conclusion that maybe that was Alice's mom hanging back in
- 16:11Speaker 1: the bushes during the you know what I mean, instead
- 16:14Speaker 1: of like the worst, Oh Colton was having unfair with
- 16:16Speaker 1: this lady, Like, wouldn't it make more sense that Alice
- 16:19Speaker 1: was at a funeral with a parent, but the parent
- 16:22Speaker 1: was clearly like not welcome because it was a very
- 16:25Speaker 1: small group.
- 16:25Speaker 2: So maybe this private moment.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yes, every funeral I've ever been to, if I hardly
- 16:29Speaker 1: even know the person, I mean full tears.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Of course people are sharing lovely stories.
- 16:34Speaker 1: It's moving so like it's not a huge leap to
- 16:39Speaker 1: be like, oh, maybe that's just Alice's mom.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yes, And if my child's best friend's father had an
- 16:46Speaker 2: untimely death, I would be in tears at their funeral,
- 16:49Speaker 2: even if I had never met this person. That's tragic.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yes, so yes, it was a weird scene. They all
- 16:54Speaker 1: like pile into the car by poor Alice's left at
- 16:56Speaker 1: the great site by herself, like, I don't why didn't
- 16:59Speaker 1: they invite her to come to the house.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:01Speaker 1: We go to commercial and then when we come back,
- 17:03Speaker 1: Cat and Dell are at the kitchen table, and I'm
- 17:05Speaker 1: gonna tell you, I have become very fond of like
- 17:08Speaker 1: their being in their kitchen. I don't know what it is,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and I will I'm not spoiling anything here. I did
- 17:15Speaker 1: watch the beginning of Ride after this, and they have
- 17:18Speaker 1: kitchen scenes like in this at the top of the episode,
- 17:21Speaker 1: and I'm like, but I miss the Landry kitchen compared
- 17:25Speaker 1: to this one.
- 17:25Speaker 2: It's weird. It's really weird.
- 17:27Speaker 1: It's almost like you grow this like connection where these
- 17:32Speaker 1: people are at just like with like nine O two
- 17:34Speaker 1: one zero, like them being at the peach pit or
- 17:38Speaker 1: the wal the Walsh home. It's it's the home actually
- 17:41Speaker 1: for me, and I think mostly because like that's something
- 17:44Speaker 1: that I always desired as a child growing up, is
- 17:47Speaker 1: having that like everybody around the dinner table kind of
- 17:51Speaker 1: meeting of minds. Anyway, total side note from me. But
- 17:55Speaker 1: they're at the kitchen table and Dell basically says that,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you know, cats being unusually quiet, and Kat goes on
- 18:03Speaker 1: and tell her that she's been thinking about Colton and
- 18:06Speaker 1: that she thinks that Dale's been hanging on to this
- 18:08Speaker 1: idea of Colton having an affair because it makes it
- 18:11Speaker 1: easier than the pain of losing him. And I gotta say,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I think you said that I did right either her.
- 18:17Speaker 2: To be angry than it is to be sad it is.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Delle brushes it off Dale Gonadell but talks about a
- 18:24Speaker 1: memory she's recently had of Colton and it's the evening
- 18:30Speaker 1: that he says he's going to explain everything, but then
- 18:33Speaker 1: that ended up being the night that he died, and
- 18:36Speaker 1: Kat asks when when did she remember this? And as veers,
- 18:39Speaker 1: we know this was in the last episode. She had
- 18:41Speaker 1: this like weird sort of out of body moment dancing
- 18:47Speaker 1: with Colton and like all that all that I read
- 18:51Speaker 1: on Reddit Actually people were like, oh, but did you
- 18:55Speaker 1: notice that Colton's hair was more gray in that scene
- 18:58Speaker 1: and they were trying to figure out the time.
- 19:02Speaker 2: That was the most unusual scene I think we've had,
- 19:05Speaker 2: because we have actual time travel, we have memories, and
- 19:09Speaker 2: then we have this scene which is unlike both of
- 19:12Speaker 2: those things, Like it's Dell in the present day having
- 19:15Speaker 2: a visceral memory.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Pulton, right, it was, You're right, the weirdest scene that
- 19:22Speaker 1: we've ever had. Ye. Delle brings up the woman at
- 19:26Speaker 1: the funeral and Kat assures her that the woman was
- 19:30Speaker 1: no one of importance, and Delle asks it if it's
- 19:35Speaker 1: okay to just let all that stuff go now, And
- 19:37Speaker 1: I'm like, all of this lead up to this, like
- 19:40Speaker 1: mystery woman at the funeral, where Kat now has an
- 19:43Speaker 1: understanding that it was her, and Delle's like, let's just
- 19:48Speaker 1: you know, Dell has for weeks just wanted to leave
- 19:50Speaker 1: the past in the past, so her asking Kat in
- 19:54Speaker 1: this moment, like can we just like put an into
- 19:57Speaker 1: it and finally let it all go? And they agree,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Cat agrees, Cat heads off to bed, and Dell pulls
- 20:05Speaker 1: out the business card from the grief group, which twenty
- 20:09Speaker 1: three years.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Later, Kat gave it to her last week.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I know, but does she think that this grief group
- 20:16Speaker 1: is still a meeting twenty three years later?
- 20:18Speaker 2: You know, I made the wrong assumption about this when
- 20:21Speaker 2: she looked at the card. I thought she was going
- 20:23Speaker 2: to go all investigative journalist and try and track down
- 20:26Speaker 2: this woman. And see that's not at all what she does. Dell, Yes,
- 20:30Speaker 2: we'll talk about more. Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Alice is up in her bedroom and she's looking at
- 20:34Speaker 1: what I wrote down as Colton's funeral paper. I don't
- 20:36Speaker 1: know program. I was like, what is that called? It
- 20:40Speaker 1: was real late when I watched this last night, and
- 20:42Speaker 1: she has this memory of him telling her that she
- 20:46Speaker 1: was a singer, not to let that go. She's looking
- 20:49Speaker 1: at the guitar. She has this like moment, this epiphany, yes,
- 20:55Speaker 1: that she's gonna now go on and do other things
- 20:57Speaker 1: with the singing, and.
- 20:59Speaker 2: We cut to so what I think might be the
- 21:00Speaker 2: next day, it's unclear. Alice arrives at the point and
- 21:04Speaker 2: she's asked Spencer if the Roxy is still looking for
- 21:06Speaker 2: people to play at the opening, and he says yes
- 21:07Speaker 2: and told her how excited he is, that how much
- 21:10Speaker 2: she's looking forward to catering it, and that the appetizer
- 21:14Speaker 2: he made the night he made dinner for Alice's on
- 21:16Speaker 2: the menu, and thank you for this full circle moment writers,
- 21:19Speaker 2: because impop Zoe and says you made Alice dinner and
- 21:22Speaker 2: she gets this look like what is happening? And I say,
- 21:26Speaker 2: here we go. They're interrupted by Brady who wants a coffee,
- 21:30Speaker 2: and Spencer can't get out of there fast enough and
- 21:34Speaker 2: bounce it all over it. We get no resolution, but
- 21:37Speaker 2: we do get another look from Zoe like, what's happening now?
- 21:42Speaker 1: I just had a reaction as you were reading that,
- 21:44Speaker 1: because I think it was last week I read before
- 21:47Speaker 1: I called Zoe Chloe. Yeah, and last night I called
- 21:50Speaker 1: her Sophie. I cannot remember her name, And when I
- 21:57Speaker 1: was writing down Chloe, I was like, no, that's not right,
- 21:58Speaker 1: it's Sophie. It's actually Zoe. I'm sorry, my apology. I
- 22:05Speaker 1: just don't know why I'm such a brain blog when
- 22:07Speaker 1: it comes to her and the next thing, Ellie. It's
- 22:10Speaker 1: reviewing his own notes about time traveling, and I had
- 22:13Speaker 1: to watch this scene over and over again. What I
- 22:17Speaker 1: gather are these were notes that he had taken as
- 22:20Speaker 1: a teenager about the visits, and he was checking off
- 22:25Speaker 1: the last one of the funeral.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Kat walks in and tells him that the woman that
- 22:33Speaker 1: Dell had suspected about the affair was actually her and
- 22:37Speaker 1: his response was perfect. I was super dry and he's like, okay,
- 22:40Speaker 1: taking that in just phenomenal acting by Evan Williams. Heare
- 22:47Speaker 1: Cat wonders what the point of time travel is if
- 22:50Speaker 1: there's nothing to be changed from it, and she's going
- 22:54Speaker 1: on and on about her being the root of all problems,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and he's just like enough, stop and she here apologizes
- 23:03Speaker 1: that he has to be a part of this whole thing.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You know that his life was disrupted by this too,
- 23:10Speaker 1: and she promises that she will try to let go
- 23:13Speaker 1: of the past and then they kiss.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't forget that. Elliott has a moment where
- 23:19Speaker 2: he's like, I am the only one in all of
- 23:21Speaker 2: this who has known my future since the past.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I think that comes later.
- 23:28Speaker 2: It's both times. Oh really, he brings it up. He's like,
- 23:30Speaker 2: I am the only one who has known all of.
- 23:33Speaker 1: This, and Ket's just not listening to him.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah, she's not listening to him, and later on she
- 23:40Speaker 2: seems very surprised. We'll get to but he brings it up,
- 23:42Speaker 2: and I wrote, that is a perspective that I hadn't
- 23:45Speaker 2: yet really thought about. Now, that's an interesting perspective. Since
- 23:50Speaker 2: he was fifteen years old, he's known a good portion
- 23:54Speaker 2: of the trajectory of his life and of cats as well. Right,
- 23:58Speaker 2: and I wrote, Elliott's a sucker for calf her. They
- 24:00Speaker 2: kiss at the kitchen table. Adult Brady is telling Kat
- 24:05Speaker 2: that Alice is going to be singing in a concert,
- 24:07Speaker 2: and this is one of those moments where he's like
- 24:10Speaker 2: really trying to be the parent.
- 24:11Speaker 1: She's like, I know, dude, Yeah, I don't need you
- 24:13Speaker 1: to tell me.
- 24:14Speaker 2: What our kid's doing. And right, that was a personal
- 24:16Speaker 2: reaction there, and Alice is really nervous about it, and
- 24:22Speaker 2: Brady wonders if this is a good time for their
- 24:24Speaker 2: dun dun dun chat, and Alice is like, y'all, we
- 24:27Speaker 2: don't need to have a talk. I get it. This
- 24:29Speaker 2: is for the better. She bounces, She gives them the
- 24:31Speaker 2: old I'm fine and goes upstairs.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Yeah, she's upset and annoyed and Cat runs after her
- 24:37Speaker 1: and they have like this moment and she says like
- 24:40Speaker 1: she wants to go back to the two thousands.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Well, first, she says, divorce is nothing compared to what
- 24:46Speaker 2: my friend.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Cat right, that's right, that's right. And you know in
- 24:50Speaker 1: this scene, Kat goes says something like I.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Know it was me.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought that was such a rude response, Like
- 25:00Speaker 1: it was like rude. So Alice runs out basically, well.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Don't forget that.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Tell me.
- 25:07Speaker 2: She wants to go to the pond, but Cat's like,
- 25:09Speaker 2: you never came back, right. Alice doesn't want to believe this,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and she's upset and she's like, why didn't you tell me?
- 25:15Speaker 2: And she's insistent on trying, and we get two back
- 25:18Speaker 2: to back scenes.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Here.
- 25:18Speaker 2: We get present day Dell pulling up to the grief
- 25:21Speaker 2: counselor's house. It's a quick scene. We cut away to
- 25:25Speaker 2: Alice emerging from the pond. We don't know where. She's
- 25:28Speaker 2: peeling off her wet clothes, sees the farmhouse and says,
- 25:31Speaker 2: when am I right now?
- 25:34Speaker 1: Let me go back to Dell pulling up to the
- 25:36Speaker 1: grief support house. Do you think I know? Later on,
- 25:40Speaker 1: she says, I went to the house. It's not my thing,
- 25:42Speaker 1: like the griefs I personally think that Dell went to
- 25:47Speaker 1: see who opened the door if it was the same
- 25:50Speaker 1: woman she saw at the funeral.
- 25:52Speaker 2: So that's a good point. When I said earlier, I
- 25:55Speaker 2: made the wrong assumption. I meant I thought Delle right
- 25:58Speaker 2: wanted to see if this woman or maybe someone involved,
- 26:02Speaker 2: maybe this one would have some insight into Colton's actions.
- 26:06Speaker 2: But I took her at face value later on when
- 26:08Speaker 2: she says, I went to the grief support group. But
- 26:10Speaker 2: your point is a good one.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't get any any inside, Like what happens.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Does she go to the door, does she not go
- 26:17Speaker 1: to the door? Does she meet the person? Does she not?
- 26:19Speaker 2: Like, Yeah, it is Dell the biggest mystery.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Of all in this show. Right, So, like you said,
- 26:25Speaker 1: Alice is at the farm, but she she's looking around.
- 26:28Speaker 1: It's clearly not wintertime anymore. There. To me, it was
- 26:31Speaker 1: like springtime, like we were in a completely different different
- 26:34Speaker 1: time frame. I mean it was obvious to me.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yeah, And the car parked and the driveway tells me
- 26:39Speaker 2: it's much more present today than it went And she's.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Like, when am I, Oh, I mean that's good. She
- 26:44Speaker 1: approaches the house and she can hear Dell telling Rita
- 26:47Speaker 1: to let it go, but Rita is pleading with her
- 26:49Speaker 1: that she needs Kat there, she needs her family now
- 26:53Speaker 1: now that Jacob has been finally declared dead, Delle tells
- 26:57Speaker 1: her she's fine, and she regrets showing Rita something. Of course,
- 27:01Speaker 1: we realize later that it's the letter to Cat and Alice,
- 27:07Speaker 1: which makes me super nervous goes into the actual house
- 27:10Speaker 1: because watching them talk, and I was like, how can
- 27:13Speaker 1: they not see her?
- 27:14Speaker 2: How can they?
- 27:14Speaker 1: I hear somebody come in.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I write. Alice breaks and enters to Evestrom.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Oh my god, it distresses me. Out of course that's
- 27:22Speaker 1: not going to happen. She's watching them talk and they're
- 27:27Speaker 1: talking about the letter that was mysteriously send a Cat
- 27:30Speaker 1: way back in episode one. So now we know that,
- 27:34Speaker 1: like Alice is in present day but a few months.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yeah, prior in the very recent.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Past, yes, and you know we see Dell. She throws
- 27:44Speaker 1: the letter away and they leave the kitchen and Alice
- 27:47Speaker 1: goes and digs the letter out of the trash. I
- 27:50Speaker 1: mean here obvious to me. I was like, oh, Alice
- 27:53Speaker 1: is the one who sent the letter. We get confirmation
- 27:55Speaker 1: of that a little bit later in the episode, but
- 27:58Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, I don't know why we didn't
- 28:01Speaker 1: think about that.
- 28:02Speaker 2: There were a lot of things that happened in this
- 28:04Speaker 2: episode that I never thought of. Yeah. I had two
- 28:06Speaker 2: things in all caps from that scene. One, Rita's like,
- 28:09Speaker 2: don't you think it's time you meet your granddaughter?
- 28:12Speaker 1: Oh?
- 28:13Speaker 2: And I wrote she's never met Alice in all caps,
- 28:16Speaker 2: which I don't know that I knew that.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, because when they actually come in episode one, was
- 28:21Speaker 1: there this like.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I think she has like an I'm your grandmother moment
- 28:25Speaker 2: can recall? And then I also wrote does Alice mail
- 28:28Speaker 2: the letter? Which, of course after the commercial, we see
- 28:32Speaker 2: Cat signing the divorce papers at the kitchen table, and
- 28:35Speaker 2: she looks a little sad, but there are no tears.
- 28:37Speaker 2: It's just kind of like the end of an era,
- 28:40Speaker 2: letting it go. And in walks Alice, fresh from her
- 28:43Speaker 2: recent mass time travel, Cat asks if she saw a
- 28:46Speaker 2: young cat, and Alice says the pond took her where
- 28:49Speaker 2: she needed to go, not where she wanted to go.
- 28:52Speaker 2: In walks, Brady happy to see his girls, and I
- 28:54Speaker 2: roll my eyes at this. He gus Alice a hugs,
- 28:57Speaker 2: is They're going to be fine. He'll see you at
- 28:58Speaker 2: the concert, Kat gives him the completed papers and Brady says,
- 29:03Speaker 2: I love you both, and he leaves, and Kat heaves
- 29:05Speaker 2: a sigh of relief. And I'm gonna be honest if
- 29:07Speaker 2: we don't get much Brady. I like this actor me too,
- 29:11Speaker 2: which is a bummer, but I hate his character and
- 29:15Speaker 2: the way young Brady behaves and the way adult Brady behaves,
- 29:19Speaker 2: especially toward Elliott. You're an adult, let's let it go.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I just it's so unlikable. I don't like the contentiousness
- 29:28Speaker 2: of it. So I will be okay if we don't
- 29:31Speaker 2: get a lot of Brady, which I think we might not. Well.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Also in this scene, there's no follow up from Kat.
- 29:38Speaker 1: When Alice goes it didn't take me where I wanted
- 29:40Speaker 1: to go, but where I needed to go. There's nothing
- 29:43Speaker 1: like Kat goes, well, what's a supposed to mean? I
- 29:45Speaker 1: would be like, what are you talking about? Like give
- 29:47Speaker 1: me the details you went where?
- 29:48Speaker 2: Instead like me too?
- 29:50Speaker 1: No follow up? Nothing?
- 29:52Speaker 2: Did you find Jacob? Yeah?
- 29:54Speaker 1: Did you find Jacob? And the next time, we're still
- 29:57Speaker 1: in present day and Alice is playing her guitar and
- 29:59Speaker 1: she's up in the barn slash treehouse and Dale walks
- 30:03Speaker 1: in says she heard Alice singing from like I don't know, downstairs,
- 30:06Speaker 1: out in the farm whatever, and she hasn't been up
- 30:09Speaker 1: there in a really long time, and tells Alice how
- 30:11Speaker 1: Colton built in for the kids, and she says, I
- 30:14Speaker 1: heard a rumor that you're gonna be singing out the
- 30:16Speaker 1: opening of the Roxy, Alice is super happy about it,
- 30:19Speaker 1: says she has to keep the landry singing tradition alive,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and dell here wishes that Colton could have heard his
- 30:25Speaker 1: granddaughter sing.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah. We cut to the opening of the Roxy. We
- 30:29Speaker 2: see Spencer serving, Monica and Kat talk briefly. Monica brings
- 30:33Speaker 2: up Brady, but Kat just says she's gonna head over
- 30:36Speaker 2: and see mister Elliott. And things are clearly not all
- 30:40Speaker 2: right with Cat and Elliot, because all Kat can talk
- 30:42Speaker 2: about is how nervous she is for Alice, and she
- 30:44Speaker 2: asks him to hold her hand, but they kind of
- 30:46Speaker 2: get interrupted by the bell ringing to bring them into
- 30:49Speaker 2: the theater, and they don't appear to hold hands. The
- 30:51Speaker 2: opening song is by a band called JJ and the
- 30:56Speaker 2: Pillars called Way Home, and no, I do believe that
- 30:59Speaker 2: is actually JJ and the Pillars singing on stage based
- 31:01Speaker 2: on the photo of them, I saw all right. Yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 2: and during this song, which is a cool song, actually
- 31:07Speaker 2: cat catches Alice from the wings, and she catches her eye,
- 31:10Speaker 2: and Alice is looking around a little bit nervously, and
- 31:12Speaker 2: then we see Brady finally show up, and everyone kind
- 31:15Speaker 2: of relaxes because he's shown up for his daughter, and
- 31:18Speaker 2: Elliott rolls her eyes when real enjoys them in the audience.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Look, I think if you are a co parenting, it
- 31:26Speaker 1: is nice that you have both parents show up and
- 31:29Speaker 1: they just sit next to each other and like, and.
- 31:31Speaker 2: They're not making it more awkward for their daughter by
- 31:33Speaker 2: not speaking and not being excited for her in this moment. Yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 1: So I'm a little bit annoyed by Elliott here in
- 31:41Speaker 1: this scene, mostly because like, be supportive of like their situation. Like,
- 31:45Speaker 1: I know, you hate Brady, but this is what's best
- 31:48Speaker 1: for Ali, right exactly.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Alice takes the stage to big cheers, and she looks
- 31:53Speaker 2: as terrified as she did in the opening scene of
- 31:55Speaker 2: this show. Another great callback. I think she sings, you know,
- 31:58Speaker 2: the opening bars of a song pauses again, really mirrors
- 32:02Speaker 2: that opening pilot episode, and then she kind of relaxes,
- 32:06Speaker 2: and she says, you know, this song wasn't the right one,
- 32:09Speaker 2: and she starts over by singing Colton's song and Hanny
- 32:14Speaker 2: McDowell just acts her ass off.
- 32:16Speaker 1: She's right, I have chills right now.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yes, she's blown away, having this moment of like I
- 32:22Speaker 2: can't even begin to imagine what she's thinking. Like, first
- 32:24Speaker 2: of all, here's the song that the love of her
- 32:26Speaker 2: life sang to her and how special it was. But
- 32:28Speaker 2: her granddaughter is singing it, and that alone is a lot.
- 32:31Speaker 2: But how does Alice know this song? Dell's really going
- 32:35Speaker 2: through it. Kat's having a moment too, She kind of
- 32:38Speaker 2: checks in on Dell. Well, let me just say, Sadie
- 32:40Speaker 2: Snow can sing, and she's really good. There's just a
- 32:43Speaker 2: lot of talent in this caust. We learn that Evan
- 32:44Speaker 2: Williams also sings as well, not in the show, but
- 32:47Speaker 2: he should.
- 32:48Speaker 1: No. His song is featured at the end of the episode.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Oh is it y Well, I'll get to it, but
- 32:52Speaker 2: he himself Elliott is not singing, is what I mean?
- 32:54Speaker 1: Elliott's not singing? Yes, Evan Williams is set.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yes, Del cries what appears to be tears. Cat and
- 33:01Speaker 2: Brady squeeze each other's hands, and Kat and Elliott sare
- 33:04Speaker 2: looking again. Elliott back off, this is not the cat
- 33:09Speaker 2: not being their moment for you that you think it
- 33:12Speaker 2: is right, And then there's big applause at the enemy
- 33:14Speaker 2: cut to a commercial.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, when they're watching Dell in this
- 33:19Speaker 1: kind of full realization of things that are happening, I'm wondering,
- 33:24Speaker 1: like because like you see so many emotions like I'm
- 33:28Speaker 1: you're right. Annie mcdell is such a fantastic job in
- 33:30Speaker 1: this scene, Like you see that she's stunned, she's elated,
- 33:33Speaker 1: she's confused, like she's having all these feelings while watching.
- 33:37Speaker 1: And I was like, give me more, give me more.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Does she does Dell know? Does Dell know? That's what
- 33:43Speaker 1: I need to know? And I think that's still very
- 33:45Speaker 1: much an unanswered question. We come back from commercial, we
- 33:50Speaker 1: have cat. She pulls up to Elliott's house and he's
- 33:52Speaker 1: like collecting sticks in the yard, which I was like,
- 33:55Speaker 1: is that a thing you do on farms?
- 33:57Speaker 2: Like maybe it's firewood for his fireplace. Okay, I don't know.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I wrote, Elliot collecting sticks? Question Mark would question Mark?
- 34:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah. They chit chat about Alice and her performance
- 34:10Speaker 1: and Brady being there, and she asks, like, why didn't
- 34:13Speaker 1: you come over to the house last night? And she
- 34:16Speaker 1: lets him know that she has signed the divorce papers,
- 34:19Speaker 1: and I feel like she has a really nice moment here.
- 34:22Speaker 1: She tells Elliott that she doesn't take him for granted
- 34:25Speaker 1: and that he means so much to her, but he
- 34:28Speaker 1: wants to have a.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Talk about that. He says, yikes. He says, I've been
- 34:33Speaker 2: a spectator of my whole life, that everything was set
- 34:37Speaker 2: in stone before he could live it. And I think
- 34:41Speaker 2: we talked about this earlier, but I think this is
- 34:44Speaker 2: part of why he rides hard, for everything that is
- 34:48Speaker 2: going to happen has already happened. I think because of
- 34:51Speaker 2: his own experience. He says, I can make my own
- 34:54Speaker 2: choices now I feel free, And this is a really
- 34:58Speaker 2: beautiful breakups speech, but it's also very heartbreaking. And Kat
- 35:03Speaker 2: doesn't seem to get where he's going.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 35:05Speaker 2: She says, I get it, and I write Kat is
- 35:08Speaker 2: never one step ahead. Elliott says he loves her, but
- 35:11Speaker 2: he has to start fresh and he wants her to
- 35:15Speaker 2: understand where he's coming from, and Kat definitely does not
- 35:19Speaker 2: understand like this is our moment. I'm here for you.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I'm giving you my heart.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I don't understand either. This is a man who has
- 35:29Speaker 1: wanted this woman his entire life, since he was a teenager,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and now that that whole, like everything he has known
- 35:38Speaker 1: to happen, has finally happened, he does not want to
- 35:42Speaker 1: pursue anything further with her.
- 35:44Speaker 2: I agree with you. And unless Elliott knows more than
- 35:49Speaker 2: we write, he's kind of at the end of what
- 35:52Speaker 2: he knows, right, so his future is unwritten. He does
- 35:56Speaker 2: get that chance, why not make it with Kat. We'll
- 35:59Speaker 2: get to a mo where I think it's actually advantageous
- 36:03Speaker 2: that they have this breakup at the very end. I'll
- 36:05Speaker 2: explain why. Oh okay, But behind the scene, a version
- 36:09Speaker 2: of Time after Time is playing. That's thee Evan Williams
- 36:11Speaker 2: song Oh Bright World is his band. When I shazammed it,
- 36:15Speaker 2: it said, oh Bright World music. Evan Williams Bright World
- 36:19Speaker 2: the solo project of actor singers. So he is that
- 36:21Speaker 2: is him, And Elliott cries and when he takes off
- 36:26Speaker 2: his glasses to wipe his eyes, I'm a bit of
- 36:28Speaker 2: a goner.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, I don't know. I just was kind of
- 36:32Speaker 1: mad at him in this scene.
- 36:34Speaker 2: I felt that emotion too. I felt for both of them.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I think Elliott has been put in an unfair position
- 36:42Speaker 2: throughout all of this, and I think he just wants
- 36:46Speaker 2: some control and he doesn't feel like he has any
- 36:48Speaker 2: of it. And I think Kat is in this woman
- 36:51Speaker 2: coming to him saying, like, I sign the divorce papers
- 36:53Speaker 2: and I think co parenting's really going to work out,
- 36:55Speaker 2: and he's like, none of this is in my control.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I had to wait for you to be done with Brady,
- 37:00Speaker 2: and I had to wait for that story to be over,
- 37:03Speaker 2: and I'm constantly waiting and I don't have any control.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And I just don't think he likes.
- 37:08Speaker 2: It, like I am on everyone else's timeline.
- 37:11Speaker 1: But I think he's making a bad decision here, Like
- 37:14Speaker 1: I feel like he's cutting his nose off despite his face.
- 37:18Speaker 2: That's exactly the line I see your face wondering if
- 37:21Speaker 2: it is. Also, I thought, well, how are you gonna
- 37:23Speaker 2: do this? Because this is a very small town, so
- 37:25Speaker 2: you're just gonna I think they live very close to
- 37:28Speaker 2: each other too, mm hmm, So you're just going to
- 37:33Speaker 2: see other people while seeing Kat and Alice.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Everywhere you go yeah, I don't understand.
- 37:38Speaker 2: And he was close to Dell prior to all of that, right,
- 37:41Speaker 2: so many questions.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Next up, we have Dell, Kat and Alice and they're
- 37:45Speaker 1: sitting at the kitchen table and.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Dell asks Alice about the.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Song and like where she learned that from, and Alice
- 37:53Speaker 1: says it's something that Kat taught her as a child,
- 37:57Speaker 1: which is a nice cover up. Yes, perfect here deal
- 38:00Speaker 1: says she went to the support group, but that it
- 38:02Speaker 1: wasn't her thing, and she tells Kat sorry for being
- 38:05Speaker 1: lost in her own grief and why she wasn't there
- 38:08Speaker 1: for her as a teenager. And I was like, this
- 38:11Speaker 1: is what we've been waiting for between these two forever.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Now they have well, Kat has some clarity I think
- 38:19Speaker 1: about it wasn't her fault, yes, but.
- 38:22Speaker 2: It wasn't them blaming her. Yes, that's it that caused
- 38:26Speaker 2: their distance. Was less about her and they were just
- 38:30Speaker 2: stuck in their own reave.
- 38:31Speaker 1: And there's something like a teenager's not going to understand that.
- 38:35Speaker 2: No, right, I'm your child, show up for me. You know,
- 38:38Speaker 2: teenagers are wonderful but incredibly self centered, like they are
- 38:44Speaker 2: the center of their world. So I don't think the
- 38:48Speaker 2: teenage Cat would have had the ability to think.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Right, And I have to say, like Dell, yes, she
- 38:53Speaker 1: did not show up for her child, but a lot
- 38:56Speaker 1: of parents don't. A lot of people are selfish as adults,
- 39:00Speaker 1: and even without this tragedy, right, So it was nice
- 39:03Speaker 1: that they finally had this moment. I just wish that
- 39:06Speaker 1: it wasn't such.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Like a blip. You wanted more. You wanted like a
- 39:10Speaker 2: big emotional but that's.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Not dope, I know. I know then I was happy
- 39:15Speaker 1: that they finally did it. And she goes on to
- 39:17Speaker 1: say how her heart is full now that they are
- 39:20Speaker 1: back in her life, and like, I'm telling you, this
- 39:23Speaker 1: is like the most like vulnerable like we've seen del
- 39:26Speaker 1: By with Kat and she's you know, expressing how happy
- 39:31Speaker 1: that she's there with them. And Kat says that she's
- 39:35Speaker 1: thankful that Delle sent that letter, and Delle's like, I
- 39:37Speaker 1: swear it wasn't Meting sent it. And now we have
- 39:40Speaker 1: this flashback of Alice leaving the farm putting the letter
- 39:47Speaker 1: in the mailbox, the mailbox outside their home. She dropped
- 39:52Speaker 1: it in like a blue postal box. I don't know,
- 39:55Speaker 1: it was just funny. So now we know confirmed that
- 39:58Speaker 1: it was Alice who sent the letter.
- 39:59Speaker 2: This is the countdown to the end. So Finn the
- 40:01Speaker 2: dog comes in and he's soaking wet, and Dell's like Finn,
- 40:05Speaker 2: and he has a ball and this comes at you
- 40:09Speaker 2: real fast and furious. So Dell says he just can't
- 40:11Speaker 2: stand out of the pond. And in this moment, Kat
- 40:13Speaker 2: has a memory of Jacob saying I saw that dog again,
- 40:17Speaker 2: and he plops the baseball on the table much like
- 40:19Speaker 2: the one Finn has just dropped at their feet, and
- 40:22Speaker 2: we get another memory of Cat dropping Jacob off at
- 40:26Speaker 2: home after the carnival, and we hear after she sends
- 40:29Speaker 2: them into the house and she, by the way, runs
- 40:31Speaker 2: off into the woods again, which is such a bizarre choice,
- 40:34Speaker 2: but we hear the dog barking in the background. Cut
- 40:36Speaker 2: to present day Cat. She has a memory the almanac
- 40:39Speaker 2: from earlier where they see the Jacob and Cat logo.
- 40:41Speaker 2: She runs to the family almanac and she sees that
- 40:44Speaker 2: the page right before that is torn out, but she's
- 40:46Speaker 2: more focused on a quote on the side of the
- 40:48Speaker 2: page that says the explorer found a home, but he
- 40:51Speaker 2: still looks to the stars when he feels lost. A
- 40:54Speaker 2: lot of questions here we get another memory Jacob and
- 40:57Speaker 2: Cat looking at his glow in the dark stars as children,
- 40:59Speaker 2: and Jacob saying, did you know the explorers used to
- 41:01Speaker 2: look to the stars when they got lost. In comes
- 41:04Speaker 2: Alice to Kat looking at the almanac and ask what
- 41:07Speaker 2: she's doing, and I apologize. So this is when we
- 41:10Speaker 2: have the memory of Cat running away after dropping Jacob off.
- 41:13Speaker 2: But we get that moment continuing. Jacob goes out the
- 41:16Speaker 2: front door and he chases the dog running back to
- 41:19Speaker 2: the pond. He chases them right up to the edge
- 41:22Speaker 2: of the pond and we see Finn jumping in. We
- 41:24Speaker 2: don't see Jacob go in, but we do hear a splash.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Cat shells Alice back in present day. Jacob chased Fin
- 41:32Speaker 2: to the pond on the night Cat saved him, and
- 41:33Speaker 2: in comes Dell asking what is going on, and Kat
- 41:37Speaker 2: turns and says, I know what happened to Jacob. You
- 41:39Speaker 2: get a tidle sequence on the screen that says poor Haven,
- 41:44Speaker 2: New Brunswick, eighteen fourteen. And here's this opening scene again
- 41:48Speaker 2: of the woman running through the woods. And there's been
- 41:51Speaker 2: a lot of speculation about who that woman is, and
- 41:53Speaker 2: I will say that we never speculated this, we see
- 41:57Speaker 2: everything that we saw and from behind knowing what I
- 41:59Speaker 2: know now, and like, that looks more like Alice's hair
- 42:02Speaker 2: than Dell's hair.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I agree, yes, And.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Then they swing around to the front and it's Cat Yes,
- 42:07Speaker 2: with incredibly long hair now, and she says, I'll be
- 42:10Speaker 2: back for you, Jacob, I promise, and into the pond
- 42:13Speaker 2: she goes.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I have so many questions. I came this morning. I
- 42:19Speaker 1: was like, you're gonna have to explain this me, but.
- 42:22Speaker 2: I don't think we have any of the answers. So
- 42:25Speaker 2: question one is how long has she been there? Right
- 42:27Speaker 2: in the past. We don't know, but because her hair
- 42:29Speaker 2: is so long, my feeling is she's been there a
- 42:31Speaker 2: long time.
- 42:32Speaker 1: But how does that affect present day?
- 42:34Speaker 2: That's the other thought I had is if she's been
- 42:36Speaker 2: there for a long time, a year two for her
- 42:39Speaker 2: hair to be grown out like this. Again, I'm leaning
- 42:41Speaker 2: heavily on the hair because I feel like it's an
- 42:43Speaker 2: important detail. What's happening in present day? Where's Alice? Because
- 42:49Speaker 2: has she just left her daughter behind?
- 42:53Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't know now you.
- 42:55Speaker 2: And a previous episodes had said, are we just going
- 42:57Speaker 2: to keep traveling to different time periods now and you
- 43:02Speaker 2: know you really didn't want like a back to the
- 43:03Speaker 2: future three situations.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yes, but I'm not sure.
- 43:06Speaker 2: That we had really envisioned this, had you her spending
- 43:09Speaker 2: time in eighteen fourteen?
- 43:11Speaker 1: No, And I got to tell you at the end
- 43:13Speaker 1: of the episode last night, I was like, I've enjoyed
- 43:16Speaker 1: revisiting the nineties and the early two thousands. I don't
- 43:19Speaker 1: know if I want to visit eighteen fourteen.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Interesting. And then the other thing I said earlier, I
- 43:26Speaker 2: think it's fortuitous that Elliott has ended this relationship because
- 43:30Speaker 2: Kat isn't done with the past. The second she realized
- 43:34Speaker 2: what happened to Jacob, we knew she wasn't going to
- 43:37Speaker 2: be able to resist going back to the pond. We
- 43:39Speaker 2: don't have the same insight into her experiences in the
- 43:42Speaker 2: past as we do about Alice's. Right, I think we
- 43:45Speaker 2: can assume that the pond took her to eighteen fourteen,
- 43:48Speaker 2: But is Jacob living there as a child with that?
- 43:51Speaker 2: Lots of questions, tons of questions.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I'm excited for a season two, but again, I don't
- 43:57Speaker 1: know if I want to, Like, I mean, we're just
- 43:59Speaker 1: going to totally lose our fun noticed in the ninety segment.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Yes, we are going to ask to redo our segments
- 44:05Speaker 2: for season two. I have one more question. Yeah, why
- 44:09Speaker 2: doesn't Dell recognize Alice?
- 44:13Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Your daughter's best friend twenty three years from now reappears
- 44:20Speaker 2: in your life. Alice had a significant impact on their life.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Is it just the trauma of the time she doesn't
- 44:26Speaker 2: have access to those memories.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Well, I think I recall from an earlier episode this season,
- 44:32Speaker 1: Kat asking Dell do you remember my friend Alice? And
- 44:35Speaker 1: Dell is like, not really, hmm, that sounds familiar, but
- 44:39Speaker 1: she was there quite a bit, And why can't Dell
- 44:42Speaker 1: remember that?
- 44:43Speaker 2: And late we have these scenes like we had last
- 44:45Speaker 2: episode where it's just Dell and Colton and Alice, and
- 44:48Speaker 2: Alice is at the funeral with a handful of other people.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Seems to me I would remember everyone at my husband's
- 44:56Speaker 2: funeral if there's only seven people there, right, So Dell
- 45:00Speaker 2: might be the biggest mystery and all of them.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I agree. I agree. You were gonna mention something about Byron.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Well I had said last episode, I don't think we're
- 45:09Speaker 2: done with Byron, But in this episode, Byron bounces, and
- 45:13Speaker 2: then when we get to the end of the episode.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I'm very curious to see how these characters are we
- 45:20Speaker 2: gonna spend more time in eighteen fourteen. Is it gonna
- 45:23Speaker 2: be like a back and forth situation like we've had
- 45:26Speaker 2: I hope so. I really like the contrast of the
- 45:28Speaker 2: present day in the past. I'm very curious if Kat's
- 45:31Speaker 2: going to be spending an extended period of time in
- 45:34Speaker 2: the past.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Maybe, well, that's this is another thing too, is like
- 45:38Speaker 1: if we're not going to be revisiting the nineties anymore,
- 45:41Speaker 1: how sad that we're not gonna have those We're not
- 45:43Speaker 1: gonna see those.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Characters, those actors anymore.
- 45:46Speaker 1: We're never gonna see Colton again, maybe not, which really
- 45:49Speaker 1: bums me out. I really like Jefferson Brown. I would
- 45:52Speaker 1: love to see him in at something else. All those
- 45:54Speaker 1: actors who played the younger versions I thought were great, Like,
- 45:58Speaker 1: we're not gonna see them anymore.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Well, and if we get Jacob back, are we going
- 46:01Speaker 2: to get him back in twenty twenty three? So Dell's
- 46:05Speaker 2: going to be raising this eight year old nine year
- 46:07Speaker 2: old Jacob's not.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Coming back to twenty twenty three, I don't think.
- 46:11Speaker 2: But if they get him back at all, are they
- 46:13Speaker 2: going to return him.
- 46:14Speaker 1: To the nineties. I don't know. It's too much for
- 46:17Speaker 1: my brain to compute. I'm dying to be in the
- 46:20Speaker 1: writer's room. I would love to know what they're doing here.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Well, I just want to say I thought this was
- 46:26Speaker 2: a very satisfying season finale. Yes, I agree, so many
- 46:30Speaker 2: open threads that I had kind of forgotten about. I'm
- 46:33Speaker 2: glad they touched on the Zoe Spencer of it. All right,
- 46:39Speaker 2: they're not leaving things hanging.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, I felt like, Okay, thank you for
- 46:44Speaker 1: answering those things. Now we have opened up this other
- 46:47Speaker 1: new portal.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Yes, there was enough answered to get me excited about
- 46:53Speaker 2: season two.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I wonder when season two will come out? You think
- 46:56Speaker 1: next year?
- 46:57Speaker 2: Well someone asked and on an official Hallmark one of
- 47:00Speaker 2: the social media accounts, and they said, we don't have
- 47:02Speaker 2: a release date. Yeah, so we don't know the answer
- 47:05Speaker 2: of that. But this was a great time. I loved
- 47:08Speaker 2: recapping this show.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Yeah, this was a great show.
- 47:11Speaker 2: As of the recording of this episode, I have not
- 47:13Speaker 2: watched even a second of Ride. I've watched ten minutes maybe,
- 47:18Speaker 2: so we're going to get into that later this week.
- 47:20Speaker 2: But thank you for listening to this episode. We hope
- 47:22Speaker 2: you loved these recaps. We've really enjoyed doing them. As mentioned,
- 47:26Speaker 2: we'll be back with our recap of the brand new
