MLS is set for a major leadership change as Larry Berg, co-owner of LAFC and former investor in AS Roma and Swansea City, takes the reins as commissioner starting next year. Berg, who helped LAFC win the MLS Cup in 2022 and Supporters’ Shield in 2019, will succeed Don Garber — whose 27-year tenure ends after the 2026 World Cup on home soil. Garber will remain in a chairman role post-World Cup, endorsing Berg’s readiness to steer the league into its next era of global growth and expansion.
