- 0:07Speaker 1: Hey, folks, welcome into the Irish Sitters Podcast, the official
- 0:10Speaker 1: podcast or the Pittsburgh Steters on the Island of Ireland. Well,
- 0:13Speaker 1: we have got in to the end, the end of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the regular season, that not the end. We hope Steelers
- 0:20Speaker 1: have got a huge game this weekend. But I cannot
- 0:22Speaker 1: believe it's already weekly. A team of the twenty twenty
- 0:26Speaker 1: three NFL season, Michael look good. The live of it
- 0:28Speaker 1: is always to be joined by both Jimmy and Dave.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Jimmy first off, Big week Ahead, Man, Big week Ahead, Hoppy,
- 0:35Speaker 1: the year hiding.
- 0:36Speaker 2: And I'm good, Nick, I'm good, Thanks very much, Happy
- 0:39Speaker 2: New Year to yourself as well. Yeah, like you said,
- 0:42Speaker 2: Week eight, team fast approach. And it's been a roller coaster,
- 0:45Speaker 2: an emotional roller coaster the past couple of weeks, and
- 0:49Speaker 2: steeters up and down. Where they look, we are where
- 0:51Speaker 2: we are now and hopefully we get to get to
- 0:55Speaker 2: win against the Ravens and sneak into the playoffs. I
- 0:58Speaker 2: don't think a couple of weeks ago we would have
- 1:00Speaker 2: been sitting here discussing your playoff run. Stranger things have happened,
- 1:04Speaker 2: and so yeah, excited to see what's in store for us.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Next again.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I think the Jimmy sort of that good A lot
- 1:10Speaker 1: a lot of people's thoughts, especially in this podcast. I think,
- 1:13Speaker 1: you know, if you had said to us three or
- 1:14Speaker 1: four weeks ago, probably prior to starting to lose in
- 1:17Speaker 1: some games, that will be sitting in the wiki team
- 1:19Speaker 1: having a conversation on this team that has an opportunity
- 1:22Speaker 1: now to make the playoffs, you take it and run.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And I'm also happy New Year also to you.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But everyone listenings back. Yeah to Hobbing and Uni, the
- 1:31Speaker 3: both of you as well. It's the first time I've
- 1:33Speaker 3: spoke to you is in a while that I missed
- 1:34Speaker 3: out on last week. But yeah, as you just said
- 1:38Speaker 3: about you know that a couple of weeks ago against
- 1:40Speaker 3: the coach, it never seemed like we would be sitting here.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I'd waking a team with a chance to win. I
- 1:46Speaker 3: can't believe it's week team already. If you think of it,
- 1:48Speaker 3: you know, where is the season gone? It thinks like
- 1:49Speaker 3: only yesterday we were sitting down watching The Big Guys
- 1:52Speaker 3: and Sky Sports at Ackershire and then obviously watching it
- 1:56Speaker 3: the watch party at crow Parker as well. So you
- 1:58Speaker 3: know we're now in the twenty fourteen We've been an
- 2:00Speaker 3: absolutely massive curtain closure against the Ravens of Saturday, and
- 2:04Speaker 3: we've given ourselves a massive chance, you know what, making
- 2:06Speaker 3: the postseason so and over the past couple of weeks.
- 2:09Speaker 3: It's not something we maybe would have seen, but it's
- 2:11Speaker 3: obviously something we're going to big ending here now. So
- 2:13Speaker 3: glad to be back on and obviously happening a year
- 2:16Speaker 3: to both years yourselves.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Absolutely really appreciate everybody listening in the last year since
- 2:21Speaker 1: his podcast started. Excited to see what's ahead in twenty
- 2:24Speaker 1: twenty four, hopefully at least four more episodes over this
- 2:27Speaker 1: next month on a special from Vegas. We hope in
- 2:30Speaker 1: the meantime Staeters have got the Ravens in week eighteen. Actually, ironically,
- 2:34Speaker 1: for some reason we were talking this week with just
- 2:37Speaker 1: waiting the record by a couple of days and we
- 2:39Speaker 1: get the news in terms of the raven situation, the quarterback,
- 2:42Speaker 1: which we'll talk about down the stretch. More importantly, that
- 2:44Speaker 1: game is on Sky Sports this Saturday night, nine thirty,
- 2:48Speaker 1: also on OTB across the island of Ireland to listen
- 2:50Speaker 1: to an audio format, but generally before we look at
- 2:54Speaker 1: the playoff scenarios, before we talk about this game. It
- 2:57Speaker 1: was a really positive performance, a great in Seattle, never
- 3:01Speaker 1: an easy place to go to gym. You never mind
- 3:03Speaker 1: the fact that since they've had that defense years ago
- 3:06Speaker 1: when they won the Super Bowl. Even though Seattle have
- 3:09Speaker 1: had their ups, have had their Dyings have always been
- 3:11Speaker 1: a very very difficult team to play against away out
- 3:14Speaker 1: on the edge of the whole country. But the Steelers
- 3:16Speaker 1: made it look really well last week. Mason Rudolph had
- 3:19Speaker 1: a solid game, looking really really good, and Nagi was excellent.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Never minded that, never mind the fact that the defense
- 3:24Speaker 1: held the Seahawks to twenty three points on the day,
- 3:28Speaker 1: Seahawks coming off a really good result against the Eagles
- 3:30Speaker 1: a few weeks ago as well. So lots of positives
- 3:33Speaker 1: that they's not performance, but we've got to move on
- 3:34Speaker 1: the weekend team. But we'll take a lot of time.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. I mean that's two really strong performances back
- 3:40Speaker 2: to back now from from the Steelers. I mean, first
- 3:43Speaker 2: against the Bengals two weeks ago and then against the
- 3:46Speaker 2: Seahawks mass Saturday night. I think it was a really
- 3:49Speaker 2: complete team performance and all fastest of the of the
- 3:53Speaker 2: game were really strong. Mason Rudolph has continued to shine,
- 3:57Speaker 2: and he's proven like the connection he has with the receivers.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It's just phenomenal for a guy who's only started one
- 4:03Speaker 2: game so far the season. If the game was won
- 4:07Speaker 2: on the ground, I think offensively, you know, they had
- 4:09Speaker 2: obviously had a hard time stopping Nagy and stopping Jalen.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Fantastic performance. Three rushing touchdowns, do you know. I think
- 4:16Speaker 2: it was actually the first game almost all season where
- 4:19Speaker 2: the offense, in my opinion, actually played better than the defense,
- 4:23Speaker 2: you know, bar a couple of big plays. I mean,
- 4:26Speaker 2: with about six or seven minutes left in the quarter,
- 4:28Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter, maybe even less, I was I
- 4:30Speaker 2: was still nervous. I was still worried that the Seahawks
- 4:33Speaker 2: are going to come back and snatch victory from us.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, look, fantastic offensive performance. Defense did
- 4:40Speaker 2: their job. Only got one sack, which is disappointing. You know,
- 4:43Speaker 2: we've become accustomed to get multiple sacks per game. So
- 4:47Speaker 2: credit to the Seahawks offensive line for holding off dj
- 4:50Speaker 2: and and Alex Heismith. But Nick Herbig what a man
- 4:54Speaker 2: strip sack fumbled recovery. I mean, that was really the
- 4:57Speaker 2: turning point I think in the game. That's that kind
- 4:59Speaker 2: of seal of for me, and so delighted for him.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I mean, he is just playing light set all season
- 5:04Speaker 2: when he's been giving the opportunity. So excited to see
- 5:07Speaker 2: what's the store for him next year. Hopefully he'll get
- 5:09Speaker 2: more of a more of a role. But no, overall,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I was happy, you know, I mean, they did their
- 5:15Speaker 2: job and now it's one of the ravens.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I feelink we've been rewarded with early you know, early
- 5:20Speaker 1: kickoff this week to an extent on a Saturday, and
- 5:22Speaker 1: also a primetime game on TV. So I'll take it
- 5:24Speaker 1: and run, Dave. I just as Jimmy said there Nick
- 5:27Speaker 1: Herberg German having a day, was there an announced from
- 5:29Speaker 1: that game they'd like to pick out before we look
- 5:32Speaker 1: at we get in.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I pretty much viewed it the same way as Jimmy did.
- 5:35Speaker 3: You know, great results in a must win game. If
- 5:37Speaker 3: we lost, we wouldn't be sitting here with a chance
- 5:40Speaker 3: at the playoffs. So you know, the season looked dead
- 5:42Speaker 3: and bright and just a missing right off. I didn't
- 5:44Speaker 3: really get to have him a sale last week, but
- 5:47Speaker 3: you know he's come in and he's played easily the
- 5:49Speaker 3: best two performance of his career to date, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 3: five hundred and sixty four yards, two touchdowns, now interceptions.
- 5:55Speaker 3: You know, only Lamar Jackson has had a batter passer
- 5:57Speaker 3: written over the past two weeks amongst quarterbacks, and he's
- 6:00Speaker 3: looked incredibly relaxed in the pocket, which is something we
- 6:03Speaker 3: didn't really have with Mitch tra Whisky at the start.
- 6:06Speaker 3: So you know, he's getting a lover, a lot of
- 6:08Speaker 3: lover right now, rightfully so. But at the same time,
- 6:11Speaker 3: you know there's a big, massive game coming up this
- 6:13Speaker 3: weekend against the Ravens and he's got to step up again.
- 6:16Speaker 3: And I still think, you know, it's a position that
- 6:18Speaker 3: we need to strengthen and upcoming draft. You know what quarterback,
- 6:21Speaker 3: you know, if you want to compete in the FC
- 6:23Speaker 3: North against the legs of Lamar and Burrow, you know
- 6:25Speaker 3: you have to be special at the most important position.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But you know, like I said, you know, props to
- 6:30Speaker 3: you know he's coming at the time of turmoil and
- 6:32Speaker 3: he stepped up massively when we needed him, so obviously,
- 6:35Speaker 3: as Jimmy said, you know, a massive shout out to
- 6:37Speaker 3: George Pickens as well. Back to back games over one
- 6:39Speaker 3: hundred and twenty five ye receiving yards. Yeah, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 3: he's finally becoming that quarterback or sorry, that quarterback receiver
- 6:45Speaker 3: that we knew he could find and to come of course,
- 6:47Speaker 3: Nagie on the ground was was unbelievable. You know, Steph Arman,
- 6:50Speaker 3: people left right center. So all in all, massive results
- 6:54Speaker 3: in the game that could have ended our season with
- 6:56Speaker 3: a loss, you know, in spite of the defense. So
- 6:58Speaker 3: as Jimmy said, you know that they didn't really look
- 7:00Speaker 3: at the races. You know, we only had one sack
- 7:03Speaker 3: and factly it wasn't neck herbig. You know, he's our gay,
- 7:06Speaker 3: which is a master positive. But you know we're gonna
- 7:09Speaker 3: need a big game from them on Saturday night with
- 7:11Speaker 3: something we'll look forward hopefully later on the show.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I think it just shows the expectations we have now
- 7:15Speaker 2: of the deep end that we we've come to expect
- 7:19Speaker 2: multiple it's multiple sacks per game. I mean, they got
- 7:22Speaker 2: close to Ginu a couple of times, they didn't manage
- 7:24Speaker 2: to take him down. And I think we're finally hitting
- 7:28Speaker 2: our groove at the right time where the Steelers are
- 7:30Speaker 2: finally getting hot at the right time they could maybe
- 7:33Speaker 2: if they had done it against the Coast, will be
- 7:35Speaker 2: a little bit more comfortable right now. But it just
- 7:37Speaker 2: goes to show you, like Mason Rudolph, like you said, Dave,
- 7:40Speaker 2: he's playing like a like a like a season pro
- 7:43Speaker 2: batman just looks so chill out in the pocket. He's
- 7:45Speaker 2: dropping back, he's he's letting his receivers get up, and
- 7:48Speaker 2: he's just he's just corking the ball. So it's fantastic
- 7:51Speaker 2: to see and hopefully he could do the same against
- 7:54Speaker 2: the Ravens and indeed into the postseason the week after.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Coach Mike Pummlin as well, making sure that win in
- 8:00Speaker 1: Seattle seventeenth straight non losing season. I know we all
- 8:04Speaker 1: want to win this weekend and gets to the playoffs,
- 8:06Speaker 1: but still great to see that. Also, just before we
- 8:09Speaker 1: get some audio when TJ. Watt has been named the
- 8:12Speaker 1: team MVP, and I know you're a big fan of
- 8:14Speaker 1: Jimmy as who everyone is as well, but I think
- 8:16Speaker 1: that says a lot about the camaraderie his team hasn't
- 8:19Speaker 1: how much of a leader that he is in a
- 8:21Speaker 1: locker room. I actually seen TJ. Watt interact with a
- 8:23Speaker 1: lot of the fans prior to the game in Seattle
- 8:25Speaker 1: of the weekend he'd done a gender reveal for a
- 8:27Speaker 1: fan as well, Dave. I mean, the man can literally.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Do everything incredible to say. As you were saying as
- 8:32Speaker 3: well about the team MVP, I think TJ. Watt's now overtaken.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I can't remember who it was. He name escapes my mind,
- 8:38Speaker 3: but he's now the all time later in team MVPs
- 8:41Speaker 3: for Steelers across the franchise history. So I think that
- 8:45Speaker 3: tells you everything you need to know about him. He's
- 8:48Speaker 3: one of a kind, not the same. I still think
- 8:50Speaker 3: he's disrespected amongst you know, the media and stuff, and
- 8:55Speaker 3: I think it just goes to show you how important
- 8:57Speaker 3: he is. I mean, you know, legally during sacks this
- 9:00Speaker 3: year again and he's shuming for it Defensive mv or
- 9:04Speaker 3: Defensive Player of the Year. He should be anyway, and
- 9:06Speaker 3: I'm still seeing May's Yard's name still ahead of him.
- 9:09Speaker 3: I don't know why, but as you said, Michael, it's
- 9:11Speaker 3: it's it's incredible just how important he is to our season.
- 9:15Speaker 3: As as Jimmy was saying earlier, you know that I
- 9:17Speaker 3: know the Seahawks offensive line. They did a pretty good
- 9:19Speaker 3: job on them. There was a couple of holding calls.
- 9:21Speaker 2: But there there was more than a couple of so
- 9:24Speaker 2: he was steaming on the sideliner righty, So he was
- 9:27Speaker 2: being held left, right and center.
- 9:29Speaker 3: But I where, to god, I think they were. They
- 9:30Speaker 3: were looking on his jersey at the end of that
- 9:32Speaker 3: as well, like it's it's it's ridiculous, But I would
- 9:34Speaker 3: say it's just that he's disrespected, not rich. But as
- 9:37Speaker 3: Jimmy said, you know he's held left right in Santra.
- 9:39Speaker 3: It's it's crazy how much he does actually get help
- 9:41Speaker 3: and you think of it.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Let's hear from the team m v P TJ what
- 9:46Speaker 1: ahead of this game on Saturday against the Boltileo evens.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Anytime my peers see the amount of work that I'm
- 9:54Speaker 4: putting in and show that they have respect for what
- 9:57Speaker 4: I'm trying to do, it's super gratifying because that's all
- 10:00Speaker 4: you want at the end of the day, is to
- 10:01Speaker 4: have respect to the people that you work with day
- 10:04Speaker 4: in and day out, and just continually trying to get
- 10:07Speaker 4: better on off the field as a leader, to try
- 10:11Speaker 4: to help this team in any way I possibly can.
- 10:13Speaker 4: And I'd be lying if I told you this didn't
- 10:16Speaker 4: mean something to me. Doesn't matter how many times it
- 10:18Speaker 4: is each and every year. I'm trying to find ways
- 10:20Speaker 4: where I can get better and improve. And I don't
- 10:23Speaker 4: take this on or lightly at all, I think.
- 10:27Speaker 2: So you see happier about Herbig's play that Herbert gets well,
- 10:34Speaker 2: I just know how.
- 10:36Speaker 4: It's. Yeah, it's funny because like after the fact we
- 10:39Speaker 4: talk about it, and it's those those like first big
- 10:43Speaker 4: plays of your career. For those first couple of years,
- 10:45Speaker 4: I've talked about it a lot. As you black out,
- 10:47Speaker 4: you don't really know what's going on. You're just so excited,
- 10:49Speaker 4: you have so much emotion. So I was just trying
- 10:52Speaker 4: to coach them through the moment. Hey, let's hit the
- 10:53Speaker 4: handshake real quick. Let's have some fun. And then he
- 10:56Speaker 4: was just kind of running over and I was like,
- 10:57Speaker 4: all the camera's over here, let's go over here. And
- 10:59Speaker 4: I was kind of like just like walking him through
- 11:02Speaker 4: like the process of the whole thing. And yeah, he
- 11:06Speaker 4: definitely did and he wasn't home.
- 11:08Speaker 2: But it's it's a euphoric feeling, it really.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Is, because you know how much work he's put in,
- 11:14Speaker 4: how many I mean, you guys see all the reps
- 11:15Speaker 4: we put in before after practice, and that goes for
- 11:18Speaker 4: all the outside linebackers. And all that edge rushers here,
- 11:20Speaker 4: and when that feeling pays off and you get home
- 11:23Speaker 4: and you're able to make a huge play, it's it's
- 11:27Speaker 4: an addictive feeling, and I'm glad that he got a
- 11:29Speaker 4: taste of it and he can continue to strive to
- 11:31Speaker 4: do that more for us.
- 11:32Speaker 2: We make more meaningful to You've given your pre existing
- 11:36Speaker 2: Internet relationship.
- 11:38Speaker 4: I think it just means more. It just means a
- 11:40Speaker 4: lot when anybody makes a play, but more specifically a
- 11:42Speaker 4: guy in our room, because I see the amount of
- 11:44Speaker 4: work and I see all the things behind the scenes
- 11:46Speaker 4: that go into those big plays. None of that stuff
- 11:49Speaker 4: is just happens by chance. There's so many reps that
- 11:52Speaker 4: go into that and make those plays that when you
- 11:55Speaker 4: get that opportunity, you seize the moment. And it was
- 11:58Speaker 4: a hell of a play on his part or TJ.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Do you enjoy that part of your your role, your
- 12:02Speaker 5: leadership now being able to do that with the younger guys.
- 12:05Speaker 3: And show them in the RUSS. Yeah, I do.
- 12:07Speaker 4: And like I told you guys earlier, I'm able to
- 12:10Speaker 4: live in the moment more and be present and I
- 12:12Speaker 4: don't have those blackout moments. I'm able to actually enjoy
- 12:15Speaker 4: things and slow things down and realize in the moment
- 12:19Speaker 4: how special they are and things like that. Was just
- 12:22Speaker 4: a fun moment in my career that I remember forever.
- 12:24Speaker 3: TJ do close.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You guys, are there any great or sense destigation on
- 12:29Speaker 2: your part?
- 12:30Speaker 1: Talked about this before.
- 12:31Speaker 2: You'd never want a playoff game.
- 12:32Speaker 5: I never wanted to get in there. You sense that
- 12:35Speaker 5: even more so I know you don't control ever.
- 12:37Speaker 4: No, I think the biggest message this week is to
- 12:41Speaker 4: just focus on us in this game. It's been in
- 12:44Speaker 4: a situation so many times you can't afford to look
- 12:46Speaker 4: at all the We need this to have. We need
- 12:48Speaker 4: ad to happen because at the end of the day,
- 12:49Speaker 4: if we don't take care of our business. I know
- 12:52Speaker 4: it sounds so cliche, but it really doesn't matter. So
- 12:54Speaker 4: at the end of the day, we just need to
- 12:55Speaker 4: make sure everybody in this locker room understands the importance
- 12:58Speaker 4: of this game and taking care of our business first
- 13:00Speaker 4: and foremost.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Along those lines, For you guys who are the pass rushers,
- 13:03Speaker 5: I mean that her big plays a pretty good example.
- 13:05Speaker 5: You guys felt like won a lot of battles and
- 13:08Speaker 5: created pressure, but getting them to the ground was a challenge.
- 13:12Speaker 5: How big of an issue is that this week, whether
- 13:14Speaker 5: it's Jackson hump whoever at quarterback for Baltimore.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a tough challenge. It seems like every week
- 13:19Speaker 4: there's just so many mobile quarterbacks in the NFL, and
- 13:22Speaker 4: you either have a smaller, quick guy, you have a
- 13:24Speaker 4: big guy like Gino who can also move and make
- 13:26Speaker 4: things difficult. From last week, but I feel like we've
- 13:30Speaker 4: been producing pressure. It's just this year we haven't had
- 13:33Speaker 4: that six or seven sac game like we were just
- 13:34Speaker 4: talking about at practice this week. But it's going to
- 13:37Speaker 4: be another challenge this week with a mobile quarterback. Whether
- 13:41Speaker 4: Lamar plays or not, it's going to be a challenge
- 13:44Speaker 4: for us, and it's something that I think we're up for.
- 13:46Speaker 4: And then you guys are sticking with Mason.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Obviously he's on the other side of the ball, but
- 13:50Speaker 5: how much of a spark is he just giving this
- 13:52Speaker 5: entire team.
- 13:53Speaker 4: With the way he's playing right now, It's been great
- 13:55Speaker 4: to see the offense move the ball, and like we've said,
- 13:57Speaker 4: the really good defense to spend a lot of time
- 13:59Speaker 4: on us eelines and I think it was like fifty
- 14:01Speaker 4: some plays this week and not a whole bunch the
- 14:04Speaker 4: week before, so anytime we could spend a lot of
- 14:06Speaker 4: time on the bench. It helps us, especially late in
- 14:08Speaker 4: games for those big time moments, and just really exciting
- 14:12Speaker 4: seeing the offense be able to move the ball, see
- 14:14Speaker 4: guys making plays, and like I said about our defense
- 14:18Speaker 4: and stuff, I see how much they work. So it's
- 14:20Speaker 4: awesome to see the hardbord payoff. How much is health
- 14:23Speaker 4: played a role in what you've been able to do
- 14:25Speaker 4: and what have you been able to do to ensure
- 14:27Speaker 4: that you've been on the field every games. I think
- 14:30Speaker 4: luck is a huge factor of it, first and foremost. Secondly,
- 14:34Speaker 4: I've done a good job of just learning from my
- 14:38Speaker 4: mistakes and my successes from staying healthy and keeping healthy
- 14:43Speaker 4: and talking to many guys that have done it before
- 14:45Speaker 4: and not being too stubborn. I think is a big
- 14:48Speaker 4: thing of learning and trusting my body and what works
- 14:52Speaker 4: best for me. And I think all those things are
- 14:55Speaker 4: kind of self reflective over the years of I'm not
- 14:58Speaker 4: twenty four years old anymore, and I don't need to take
- 15:00Speaker 4: every single rep and go one hundred percent in practice
- 15:02Speaker 4: every single week, but I do need to find out
- 15:04Speaker 4: what works best for me. As far as a focus
- 15:06Speaker 4: and mental preparation standpoint, and I feel like I've found
- 15:09Speaker 4: a good groove. But I'd be ling to you if
- 15:11Speaker 4: I said luck wasn't a factor of it for sure.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Teachers like I guess still terrible that you need help
- 15:18Speaker 4: from other teams, or are you guys grateful that there's
- 15:21Speaker 4: an opportunity here? We no feeling. Obviously you'd like to
- 15:26Speaker 4: get in on our own with not needing help. But
- 15:30Speaker 4: at the same time, I'm not gonna feel sorry for
- 15:33Speaker 4: ourselves for me in this position. We just need to
- 15:36Speaker 4: take care of our business. We've been in this position before,
- 15:39Speaker 4: and like I said, if we don't take care of
- 15:40Speaker 4: our business, none of it matters.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Anyways, great to hear from the guys. They had that
- 15:44Speaker 1: such a key match of this weekend, and we know
- 15:46Speaker 1: going into this weekend not everything is on the line,
- 15:48Speaker 1: but we also know I have a bit more clarity
- 15:51Speaker 1: in terms of what's going to happen. The Steelers go
- 15:53Speaker 1: to Baltimore to play the Ravens, and the Ravens, let's
- 15:56Speaker 1: be clear here, take away the fact that they're in
- 15:58Speaker 1: the same division. They have been red hot. Lamar Jackson
- 16:01Speaker 1: is one of the favorites for the MVP of the
- 16:03Speaker 1: league season and that being said, he is not going
- 16:06Speaker 1: to play this weekend, which is a huge thing I
- 16:10Speaker 1: think for the Stedars. But even at that, you still
- 16:12Speaker 1: expect this scene to be ready going forward, regardless who's
- 16:15Speaker 1: on the field. The Steelers need to win the game,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but if they there's a few scenarios. So the first
- 16:20Speaker 1: one is the Steelers win and Buffalo lose. Buffalo have
- 16:25Speaker 1: Miami on Sunday night football in Miami in Week eighteen.
- 16:29Speaker 1: There's also a different scenario where the Steelers win and
- 16:32Speaker 1: Jacksonville lose or tie. Jacksonville have played the Titans, might reable,
- 16:36Speaker 1: could have a real point to prove there. He's had
- 16:38Speaker 1: a week where he's been very, very big in terms
- 16:41Speaker 1: of big enough his players for Tennessee in a difficult
- 16:43Speaker 1: season for them. And also the Steelers win and probably
- 16:46Speaker 1: something more unlikely, but you never know. In Week eighteen
- 16:50Speaker 1: and Indianapolis against Houston, which is a game after the
- 16:53Speaker 1: game on Saturday ends in a tie or Indianapolis and
- 16:57Speaker 1: Houston does not end in the tie and Jacksonville lose.
- 17:00Speaker 1: So did you guys get that?
- 17:01Speaker 2: Because there's I think my head, my head, my head
- 17:03Speaker 2: is spinning here So even.
- 17:04Speaker 1: If the Steelers lose Indianapolis and Houston does not ended
- 17:07Speaker 1: at tie, Jacksonville lose, and Denver win in Las Vegas.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So it's about fifteen different there's five different scenarios. I
- 17:15Speaker 1: think the main thing is Jimmy starting me, we say,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and we'll talk about the Ravens here in the second.
- 17:20Speaker 1: But the mindset obviously has to be the standards and standard.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Go in there, get the job done in Baltimore against
- 17:26Speaker 1: a huge, huge, performing team in the Ravens, and the
- 17:31Speaker 1: crowd that, regardless of who's playing on the feed, will
- 17:34Speaker 1: be up for it and we'll be licking their lips
- 17:36Speaker 1: and every one. Again, like Seattle last week, we'll look
- 17:39Speaker 1: at Pittsburgh and go can they go in and do it?
- 17:41Speaker 1: I certainly think in terms of how this team has
- 17:44Speaker 1: played over the last couple of weeks, they can definitely
- 17:46Speaker 1: give it the best shot, and I think they've got
- 17:47Speaker 1: a great chance. Now what do you think?
- 17:49Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 17:49Speaker 2: Absolutely, I think we have to forget about all the
- 17:53Speaker 2: permutations for Saturday and just go in and win and
- 17:57Speaker 2: channel on the two previous performances. Like in my own
- 18:00Speaker 2: onion that the Bengals game in the Seahawks game are
- 18:02Speaker 2: two of the best games we've had all season in
- 18:05Speaker 2: terms of offensive production, especially, so I think we just
- 18:09Speaker 2: have to keep keep doing what we've been doing and
- 18:11Speaker 2: go in and rely on Mason and rely on the
- 18:14Speaker 2: connection that he's shown with his receivers. I mean, regardless
- 18:18Speaker 2: of obviously you take away Lamara Jackson, He's he's a
- 18:21Speaker 2: huge bread offensively, one of the best, one of the
- 18:23Speaker 2: best quarterbacks in the NFL. Like you say, unlikely contender
- 18:27Speaker 2: for for League MVP this season, but don't forget that
- 18:30Speaker 2: the Steelers still have weapons. Regardless of who's starting at
- 18:32Speaker 2: quarterback is sort of Gus Edwards. He still had that defense,
- 18:35Speaker 2: so it's it's not gonna be Tyler Huntley is a
- 18:37Speaker 2: very capable backup and in fact, but I believe he
- 18:40Speaker 2: previously served as a team starter as well. So these
- 18:43Speaker 2: Ravens aren't going to be a pusher over whatsoever. So
- 18:46Speaker 2: I think we have to be conscious of that and
- 18:47Speaker 2: not let it get away from us. In terms of
- 18:50Speaker 2: the crowd, I mean, I was watching that game, same
- 18:52Speaker 2: with yourselves, that that that Seahawks crowd and that twelfth
- 18:55Speaker 2: man wasn't particularly evident. I don't think last weekend there's
- 18:58Speaker 2: lots of terrible teals in that crowd, lots of chance
- 19:01Speaker 2: to here we go, and every time Bryarman caught the ball,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know you had his name ringing out in the stands.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I don't think the crowd is going to be as
- 19:08Speaker 2: big a factor as we think. But at the end
- 19:11Speaker 2: of the day, we have to go in and do
- 19:13Speaker 2: our job, and like you said, the standard is the standard,
- 19:15Speaker 2: and I think we can throw in our own destiny
- 19:18Speaker 2: very much coming into this weekend.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I think it's hard to look past the fact day
- 19:22Speaker 1: of that the Ravens will rest multiple starters, and at
- 19:25Speaker 1: the time of regarding the main one, obviously is Lamar Jackson.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I actually seen I was at the Baltimore Ravens game
- 19:30Speaker 1: against the Packers in twenty twenty one December, and it
- 19:33Speaker 1: was for a different reason, but Tyler Humbley played and
- 19:37Speaker 1: he's very similar, especially in second, third down situations in
- 19:42Speaker 1: the red zone, very athletic. Now, Lamar has changed the
- 19:45Speaker 1: way he's played a little bit this season and evolved
- 19:47Speaker 1: a bit more on that, but he still presents a
- 19:50Speaker 1: fat He's a guy that's been in the league for
- 19:52Speaker 1: a while and frankly, he's not about backup the Havelf,
- 19:56Speaker 1: So the steddler are gonna have to be worried of that.
- 19:58Speaker 1: There is there any key to the game.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously stopping you know, if we can with the
- 20:03Speaker 3: limited offense, you'd expect us to be able to do it.
- 20:06Speaker 3: You know, although I say a limited as Jimmy said,
- 20:08Speaker 3: they've still got some good weapons. But as as it's
- 20:12Speaker 3: been mentioned before, it's a huge, huge game. You don't
- 20:15Speaker 3: get any more chances after Wake eighteen. It's two your day.
- 20:18Speaker 3: And of course the Ravens, even though they've got the
- 20:20Speaker 3: number one seed locked up and there still are probably
- 20:24Speaker 3: our greatest rivals, so they're gonna want nothing more than
- 20:26Speaker 3: to come in on Saturday night and put our season.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Will at least try to put our season to bed, obviously,
- 20:31Speaker 3: you know. At the same time, with with it being
- 20:34Speaker 3: a wh I say, I keep saying unlimited offense, it's
- 20:37Speaker 3: really not. You know, we're three and a half point
- 20:39Speaker 3: favorites on the road, and as I've said, you know,
- 20:42Speaker 3: expect the defensive bounce back with a huge performance where
- 20:45Speaker 3: and you know, Michael, I'm hoping so much that we're
- 20:47Speaker 3: going into Sunday, haven't did our job on Saturday night
- 20:50Speaker 3: because we can talk about all these you know, precautions
- 20:54Speaker 3: and who's gonna win on Sunday if we don't do
- 20:56Speaker 3: our job on Saturday night at night and matter.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So I'm Josh Allen that I'm sitting there on Saturday
- 21:00Speaker 1: night at seven thirty Eastern seeing that the Steelers have
- 21:04Speaker 1: done their job. That's not difficult, and obviously there's not
- 21:07Speaker 1: one that Staders can do. They have to wait on Sunday,
- 21:09Speaker 1: that is the case, but that does not make it
- 21:11Speaker 1: easier for the Bills and the Steelers of the one
- 21:12Speaker 1: thing they can do is and just go out and wine.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah. No, like it's hard to believe even at this stage.
- 21:19Speaker 3: You know, the Buffalo were still in a chance of
- 21:21Speaker 3: missing out, you know, the one like three in a row.
- 21:23Speaker 3: It's just shows how maybe how much they weren't far
- 21:26Speaker 3: in mid season. But as you just said, you know,
- 21:29Speaker 3: we've got to go out and do our job, and
- 21:31Speaker 3: the Ravens are going to be a team that are
- 21:32Speaker 3: going to try and put our ourselves on our back.
- 21:34Speaker 3: You know, there's nobody else really who prefer to knock
- 21:37Speaker 3: the Steelers out of playoff contention and them. So I
- 21:40Speaker 3: just feel with another massive performance, you know, from ales
- 21:43Speaker 3: of Mason Rudolph, from the LECs of George Pepkins. And
- 21:45Speaker 3: you know, when no matter who it is on the ground,
- 21:47Speaker 3: whether it's Nagy rg gillinmore or both, hopefully I just
- 21:51Speaker 3: feel like we can we can sort of, we can
- 21:53Speaker 3: take retribution against them. So at the same time, you
- 21:56Speaker 3: know they have their a sat in their FC Championship game,
- 21:59Speaker 3: all right, partly the Warrio made it. I'm ratting on
- 22:01Speaker 3: social media. You know they're they're already heading to the
- 22:05Speaker 3: super Bowl. So if we can chop at the diys
- 22:07Speaker 3: on that bit of maybe complete to say, I don't
- 22:10Speaker 3: see why we can't win. So I'm just gonna'll jump
- 22:12Speaker 3: in here very quickly with a prediction. I think it's
- 22:14Speaker 3: gonna be Steelers on eight Ravens fourteen, and I feel
- 22:17Speaker 3: like now with the offense Hummon, that we'll be able
- 22:20Speaker 3: to put more points up on the board, and hopefully
- 22:22Speaker 3: with their offense maybe being on that backup level, we're
- 22:26Speaker 3: gonna be able to step up on the defensive side. So,
- 22:28Speaker 3: as I say every week, bring that one to the bank.
- 22:30Speaker 1: You're a mind reader. I was gonna get all your predictions.
- 22:33Speaker 1: That guy went first there, I'll say one thing, average
- 22:36Speaker 1: thirty two points in the offensive game with Mason Rudolph starting,
- 22:39Speaker 1: Jimmy Steelers win this game, and they win this game
- 22:41Speaker 1: by ten points against a Ravens team that are already
- 22:45Speaker 1: looking to a two week off. Wick, I've really a
- 22:48Speaker 1: whole different conversation for a different podcast. I don't know
- 22:51Speaker 1: if I like resting the team that's playing so well,
- 22:55Speaker 1: especially when they have the week off as well. I
- 22:57Speaker 1: think luck time will tell, hopefully for it doesn't work
- 23:01Speaker 1: out for them, but a huge game for the Staters,
- 23:03Speaker 1: I'll take them to win. I'm presuming you're gonna take
- 23:05Speaker 1: the Steelers to win on Saturday as well.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I've been doing that all season, and
- 23:10Speaker 2: I wouldn't be a true black and goal back, but
- 23:14Speaker 2: didn't roof for my Steeters and Blackmoy Steeters. I think
- 23:17Speaker 2: I completely agree regarding wrestling players, Mick, but I think
- 23:21Speaker 2: they have no choice. They have to protect their MVB
- 23:23Speaker 2: MVP caliber quarterback. The offense, the entire team revolves around
- 23:27Speaker 2: Lamara Jackson, so you can see the rationale there. In
- 23:31Speaker 2: terms of predictions, I'm going to go similar today, but
- 23:34Speaker 2: I'm going to go twenty eighth, twenty one. I'm a
- 23:37Speaker 2: little bit concerned about all the defense after last week
- 23:41Speaker 2: and our DBS did struggle a little bit against against
- 23:45Speaker 2: the Seahawks receivers, and the run defense is still isn't
- 23:49Speaker 2: where I'd like it to be in the second level
- 23:52Speaker 2: around you know, the middle linebackers. But yeah, Steeters all
- 23:56Speaker 2: the way, they're they're gonna do it, and we're gonna
- 23:58Speaker 2: make the playoffs and everyone's going to be fantastic. We're
- 24:01Speaker 2: gonna be sitting down in about five weeks time in
- 24:03Speaker 2: Vegas doing next Steers Super Bowl podcast hopefully.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I really hope, soone, I really hope. So like I'll
- 24:09Speaker 1: tell you what one thing for sure is for people listening,
- 24:12Speaker 1: we'll be back next week to look back in this
- 24:15Speaker 1: game and hopefully not look back in the season, because
- 24:17Speaker 1: I feel like it just feels like this book has
- 24:20Speaker 1: got like a couple more chapters left now we're excited
- 24:23Speaker 1: to read them and so watching this weekend as well
- 24:26Speaker 1: the game on Sky Sports nine thirty pm Ireland UK
- 24:31Speaker 1: time on Saturday. If you're watching, you can also listen
- 24:34Speaker 1: to the game on the OTB radio up across the
- 24:38Speaker 1: DM of Ireland. But more so get involved. Use hashtag
- 24:41Speaker 1: Steelers Ireland on x and on Instagram and let us
- 24:44Speaker 1: know what you think of the game. Because the game
- 24:47Speaker 1: is on Saturday, we'll see when we get back to
- 24:49Speaker 1: record a little interesting one ahead of a hopefully for
- 24:53Speaker 1: us while super wild card weekend. We'll see. I think
- 24:55Speaker 1: it might be maybe a couple of days in the
- 24:57Speaker 1: next week if we do get to that point, because
- 24:59Speaker 1: we'll want to see who the Steelers will face. But certainly, lads,
- 25:03Speaker 1: every game is so big in the NFL at this
- 25:05Speaker 1: time of the year, and it's great to see the
- 25:07Speaker 1: Steelers have a great chance, hopefully now of getting into
- 25:09Speaker 1: the wild card after this weekend. So here we go,
- 25:12Speaker 1: and we'll see you guys next week. Here we go.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Hmm.
