- 0:11Hello and welcome. You're listening to Galaxy
- 0:13Crashers, The Busted, and McFly podcast.
- 0:17The only podcast where the 2 worlds of Busted and McFly
- 0:20collide and we discuss the music, the madness and the
- 0:23mayhem of the naughties. I'm Shan.
- 0:26And I'm Tay, and on this week's episode, we are diving into one
- 0:29of the most dramatic tracks from Busted's debut album, Sleeping
- 0:33with the Light On. Yeah, we're talking about lost
- 0:36loves, overthinking, staring at the ceiling at 2:00 AM, and the
- 0:40absolute emotional roller coaster that is this song.
- 0:44Oh my God, it really is. That's the best way to describe
- 0:46it. We've got, Busted says coming up
- 0:49to this or that, of course, and we discuss our song of the week
- 0:53and reminisce on Love's Lost. How have you been this week?
- 0:57This Do you know what? This week so far has been pretty
- 1:00full on. Yeah.
- 1:02Yeah. And it's only time.
- 1:03It's Tuesday. Yeah, I know.
- 1:06Be recording on Tuesday. Feel like my week starts on the
- 1:10Saturday. Do you know what I mean?
- 1:12I go the other way. I go Saturday to Friday because
- 1:15I feel like my work week ends on a Friday.
- 1:18Nice. So yeah, I'm giving myself the
- 1:21four days. But yeah, it's half term.
- 1:24So it's just lots of parenting juggles, lots of Disney movies,
- 1:28lots of dance parties, and lots of pancakes.
- 1:31I'm so OK with that. That sounds like the pinnacle
- 1:35week for me. Yeah, and it's only Tuesday
- 1:38there. You go.
- 1:39Good weekend. Yeah, I know.
- 1:42Well it is going to be a good weekend really because on
- 1:46Thursday I'm going to my friend's house with my with my
- 1:49kids, like I'm going to my like adult friend's house.
- 1:53And by that I mean like my. Friends I don't really see with
- 1:56the kids. The ones that I don't really
- 2:00they're, they're like my Shannon friends.
- 2:01Do you know what I? Mean.
- 2:02Yeah, yeah, I get you. Yeah, yeah, I get you.
- 2:04But I'm taking the kids. We'd go, yeah, we're going to go
- 2:07in the daytime and we're going to make cakes all day and watch
- 2:11probably genuinely, I'm not just saying this.
- 2:14They are also my McFly friends. They're the people that I went
- 2:16to see McFly and Busted, McFly verse Busted with.
- 2:19So we're probably going to watch the McFly documentary, which we
- 2:23always watch when we're together on ITV.
- 2:26Yeah, definitely why and. We're just going to some cakes
- 2:29and I'm really excited. Ideal, I'm not going to lie.
- 2:32Yeah, I'm up for. That and then my programme.
- 2:34Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 2:36Of. Course, I live close and then
- 2:37too fast. Yeah, my parents are going to
- 2:40have the girls this weekend, on Friday, just Friday and
- 2:43Saturday, which is going to be really nice child free evening.
- 2:48I think Bradley and I are going to have like a late Valentine's
- 2:51Day on Friday night. He doesn't know this yet.
- 2:53I've not actually told him. Oh, it's your Valentine's
- 2:57surprise then. Yeah, that he has to take me to.
- 3:02We got I'm probably going to do something like a take away and a
- 3:05movie or actually, to be honest, probably the most likely.
- 3:08It's going to be like a trip to Spoons where we just end up
- 3:10looking at photos of the girls. Do you ever do that when you're
- 3:13not? Why do we?
- 3:14Why we do it at night when we get into bed.
- 3:17Like I'm just that they're like, oh, isn't she so cute?
- 3:19And I've just spent an hour trying to get her to go to sleep
- 3:21and I've gone downstairs and I'm like, why would you sleep?
- 3:24Oh, look at this cute picture of hers.
- 3:25She laughed. I love.
- 3:26Her so much. That's why she's crying.
- 3:28She's all I ever. Wanted literally, I was having
- 3:33an actual full on teenage argument with Autumn Alia and
- 3:37then I looked at a photo of her with her glass, her new glasses
- 3:39on and I was like, I'm obsessed with you.
- 3:41Yeah, where's my? Baby, I love you so much.
- 3:44Yeah, literally. But a minute ago I'm like,
- 3:47screaming at you because you're driving me mad.
- 3:50At the wall, yeah, that's. Exactly what we're going to.
- 3:52Do I get it? I get it.
- 3:53That sounds fun. Then how's your week been?
- 3:56Yeah. Pretty, I mean like I said, it's
- 3:57sunny Tuesday. Haven't done much.
- 3:59We've had a pretty full on week with podcasting and stuff
- 4:01haven't we? We've like done 2 episodes in
- 4:03like 3 days, which has been super fun.
- 4:05But yeah, this weekend was quite nice.
- 4:07We had we me and Jack don't really do Valentine's Day.
- 4:11We never really have like occasionally like we'll buy each
- 4:14other a card or like he might get me some flowers or some
- 4:16chocolates or something. But like with Marley and stuff
- 4:19now it's just, it's just money that we don't, I don't need
- 4:21chocolates because as I said before we started the podcast, I
- 4:24need to stop eating. I can't stop eating sweet food.
- 4:28And I'm not very good at looking after flowers.
- 4:30All the plants in our house are dying.
- 4:31I'm really not very good at it. But I've still got all my dried
- 4:34flowers from the wedding because at least I don't have to water
- 4:36them, worry about the dying. And so really, you know, it's
- 4:40and as much as we'd love to have time together, we don't have
- 4:42like parents that live here. So we can't go and be on our own
- 4:46for a night or whatever. And obviously it was my birthday
- 4:49the week before last anyway, so there was no need for us to have
- 4:51another Yeah night away. So yeah, we, we didn't do much.
- 4:55I had Galentine's Day instead with my best friend who lives
- 4:59next door, who's also been on the podcast, Tasha.
- 5:02She's been on the podcast before.
- 5:03Yeah, so we had Galentine's day with one of her friends as well.
- 5:08She came, she was lovely and and a musical theatre lover as well.
- 5:12So we literally. We had all.
- 5:14These wonderful things planned where we I brought like a board
- 5:18of like meat and cheese and crackers and grapes and Tash
- 5:20maids and pizzas and there were supposed to be 6 of us.
- 5:22So we had quite a lot of food and there ended up only being
- 5:25three of us. So we had so much food and like
- 5:28no, no one to eat it. It's so funny.
- 5:31I'm so surprised that you did the charcuterie, because that's
- 5:34like Tasha's special. Oh yeah, kind of thing, isn't
- 5:38it? I was shopping and she bought
- 5:40the pizzas because she was like doing actual food, if that makes
- 5:43sense. And I thought I'd just bring
- 5:44like a few. Like I'd just bought a pack of
- 5:45like mixed meat. And then I bought a couple of
- 5:48different cheeses and I can't eat cheese anyway.
- 5:50I don't know why I'm the one that always says I'll do the
- 5:52cheese because I can't eat cheese.
- 5:53I can eat Brie. That's the only cheese I can eat
- 5:56without wanting to die after it. So yes.
- 5:59So we had that, that was really fun.
- 6:01And then I brought a load of games and some of my face masks
- 6:04and stuff. We didn't do any of that, we
- 6:05just sat, we drank, well they drank 3 bottles between them and
- 6:09I drank a bottle to myself of wine and we just got really
- 6:12merry. And then we sang loads of songs
- 6:14on Tasha's Alexa all evening. So they made me sing Defying
- 6:18Gravity. It was hilarious.
- 6:19Tasha was like oh do it, you've got to sing it, you've got to do
- 6:22it Fee, she's amazing, you've got to hear her sing it.
- 6:24And I was like, I Can't Sing. I've got such a sore throat at
- 6:26the moment. My throat was so grooky.
- 6:28And there. But I bet you were still like.
- 6:31Oh, I still did it and it was like I did the original and I
- 6:34was like, this isn't right. It's not Cynthia.
- 6:37I've been sang it. I haven't seen Idina Menzel's
- 6:39version for so long. I was not prepared, but it was
- 6:42so much fun. I didn't come home until about
- 6:44half 12. I think I left.
- 6:45So it was. I know that sounds like a really
- 6:48early night probably to most of our listeners, but for me I'm
- 6:51normally in bed by half 9. Yeah.
- 6:53Oh, I had this idea. So I because listeners, you
- 6:59might probably already know this, me and Taylor are quite
- 7:02big Taylor Swift fans as well. We're going to a Taylor Swift
- 7:05night out soon together. And I had this feel, I had this
- 7:10like idea that maybe we could record a podcast before we go
- 7:15with like while we're together. Do you know what I mean?
- 7:17And then maybe record like a little segment when we get back
- 7:21after because you guys don't know but when.
- 7:23You're 2 in the morning. Yeah, that's what I mean.
- 7:26See, like see how we are at that time of morning because we're
- 7:29going to be. Hanging out our asses, you know
- 7:32that. Yeah, we are.
- 7:34But that's fine. That's fine.
- 7:35All in the name of content, my friend.
- 7:37Very true, very true. I love it.
- 7:41Great idea. Why not?
- 7:42Let's do it. Let everybody in on a Swift
- 7:45together and how it goes down. We know that.
- 7:48We know that some of you are Swifty fans.
- 7:50We know not all of you are. We know the music of McFly and
- 7:53Busted and Taylor Swift are very, very different.
- 7:55So we don't expect everybody to be as wide of music fans as we
- 8:00are. We love everybody, but it could
- 8:02be quite fun. Maybe we'll give that a go.
- 8:05Keep your eyes peeled. Anyway, it's time for this, all
- 8:11of that, now, this week. Mine's pretty random, so don't
- 8:15tell me. I kind of have gone with like,
- 8:18the theme of the song in that, like, it's quite dramatic and
- 8:20emotional. Do you know what I mean?
- 8:22So dramatic, isn't it? It's a bit dramatic and
- 8:24emotional and it's obviously about like somebody that you
- 8:27really care about. So I went with that, but I also
- 8:29went with like a bit of teenage drama kind of feel as well.
- 8:33So I've got accidentally send a dramatic paragraph about your
- 8:37feelings to the person it's about, or have them read your
- 8:43notes up where you've written out all the things that you've
- 8:45dreamt about your future together.
- 8:48Wonderful. So induce my anxiety or induce
- 8:53my anxiety? Really, really hard one there.
- 8:58Pretty much. I mean, it's nearly the same
- 9:00thing, but I feel like the first one is more like, like how much
- 9:06you actually like, if you were telling your best friend how
- 9:09much you really, really like a person would be very different
- 9:13to like what you'd written your notes to yourself about, like
- 9:16the kind of things that you want from your future, if that makes
- 9:18sense. Because I'm pretty bloody honest
- 9:21when it comes to my friends and like people that Yeah.
- 9:23About. Do you know what I mean?
- 9:24Like I'm going to tell. You, yeah, but then you could be
- 9:26like, you could be like really whimsical and like like kind of
- 9:31gross in your notes app. Do you know what I mean?
- 9:33Like really, I don't mean gross, like disgusting, but I actually
- 9:37kind of do mean it like that. But I mean like, you know, like
- 9:40really soppy and like that ain't true.
- 9:44But I think I think that is me in my notes app.
- 9:46Do you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 9:48I get you totally get. You, that ain't me, but to
- 9:50myself. Have you ever have you ever sent
- 9:53a message about somebody to that person?
- 9:57Yes, I have to somebody. I can't.
- 10:00I can't say it out loud because they listen to this podcast.
- 10:05Hilarious. Do they know?
- 10:09Will they know who they are? Yeah, No, no, not if I'm giving,
- 10:14if I think I styled it out well enough.
- 10:17But if I say it, then they'll be like aha, do you like?
- 10:21Me. That was brilliant, yeah.
- 10:24I did it when I was about 1516 No 6.
- 10:33No, I was 16. I had to have been 16 because I
- 10:37was about to. I was texting my best friend to
- 10:40ask them what symptoms you would have if you were pregnant and I
- 10:44sent them to my at the time boyfriend.
- 10:47Oh my. Jesus.
- 10:48And I was only 16. We'd only been together for
- 10:51like, we've been together for like a year.
- 10:52But obviously we were 16, so it wasn't ideal.
- 10:54Oh dear. I wasn't by the way, obviously,
- 10:59but still not. Ideal only just of age.
- 11:03I can literally, obviously, I can literally remember being sat
- 11:06on the toilet and sending the text and then looking at his
- 11:10name and being like, Oh my God, I've sent it to him.
- 11:14Oh. I remember him, just send him
- 11:16back. Tell you what the fuck was this
- 11:20Not for me? Was this for someone else?
- 11:23I when I did it, I won't give any details because like I said,
- 11:27they do listen, but I was thinking about a person, so I
- 11:31clicked on their chat. Do you know what I mean?
- 11:34Because I was thinking about them, but actually the message
- 11:37was supposed to go to Bradley. Oh dear.
- 11:40Was it? Was it a naughty message?
- 11:42That would have been great. No, it, it wasn't a naughty
- 11:44message. It was a, it was a, that would
- 11:46have been so it was a bit of a slaggy, offy message.
- 11:52Oh, I'll leave it. I'll leave, I'll leave it there.
- 11:55And once once we've finished recording and you ask me because
- 11:57I know you will who it's about, you'll realise why the world had
- 12:00ended, why I actually my insides fell out my asshole.
- 12:07Yeah, but but to answer this, I think I would say so I think my
- 12:11answer would be send a dramatic paragraph about your feelings,
- 12:14because in my notes AB I feel like I would be really.
- 12:18I've read I've read a lot of romance books.
- 12:20I think I'd be really fluffy and I'm not actually, if I was to
- 12:25send a dramatic paragraph to like, like you say, like to your
- 12:27friends, I would be like disgustingly honest.
- 12:33Not I wouldn't be like Fluffy, do you know what I mean?
- 12:35I get that I but I feel like I would be more honest like to
- 12:39myself in my notes app than I would my best mate.
- 12:42Being dramatic. Like if I was being dramatic and
- 12:44being like, like, maybe it's because it doesn't say whether
- 12:48or not you like that person. I'm thinking I've put like send
- 12:50a dramatic paragraph about your feelings, mate.
- 12:52It could be about somebody that you were dating that you don't
- 12:55like. Yeah, that's true.
- 12:57Oh my God, he's. So annoying.
- 12:58He's given me the ick because of this, this and this.
- 13:00Oh no, I've sent it to that person.
- 13:02Whoops. Oh, actually.
- 13:04And now you've said it like that.
- 13:06If I accidentally sent to Bradley half the things I say to
- 13:11my friends about him, I don't think I would be in a
- 13:14relationship anymore. That's.
- 13:16So true. Not for you, but for me as well.
- 13:22I mean, not, not 100%, but you know, yeah, I've been.
- 13:24So I might have changed my I might change my my my answer
- 13:29then, because I might be being whimsical and fluffy, but at
- 13:33least I'm not single. Still with two children.
- 13:37Very true. OK, I'm happy with that.
- 13:40That's fine. I think I agree.
- 13:41I think I would go with that one as well.
- 13:43Brilliant. Go on then you're.
- 13:45So mine is kind of based on this song, but also like just just
- 13:50busted in general I think. And I think it could go for
- 13:53McFly to be honest as well. So my this or that is what this
- 13:57or that an absolutely hilarious banger focusing on like straw
- 14:02story driven lyrics which we rant and rave about like proper
- 14:05banger or a deep cut ballad focusing on the vocals.
- 14:10So there's lyrics aren't that great, but the vocals slap.
- 14:14Oh, that's really hard. Oh, that's really difficult
- 14:19because. Yeah.
- 14:21I am definitely more of a lyric person than a music person.
- 14:27Like I can listen to some absolutely awful songs because
- 14:30the lyrics are so good, but also I love busting out harmony and
- 14:35some riffs in the car so. You know me.
- 14:40Oh, that's really difficult. I think I'm probably going to
- 14:42go. I think I'll probably go for the
- 14:44banger. A good, hilarious banger that
- 14:47has a good story. Yeah, definitely.
- 14:49Because I think especially when it comes to McFly and Busted,
- 14:54they're very, very good at both, aren't they?
- 14:55Let's face it. But I think like the ones that
- 14:58are catchier, that stick in my head, that I find myself singing
- 15:00more, are those like, like story driven, like bangers?
- 15:05They're not like I don't walk around singing not alone.
- 15:08I love not alone on my door. I love not alone, but I don't
- 15:12sort of like walk around the house singing it.
- 15:13I walk around the house going, do you know what I mean?
- 15:17Yeah, I see that. I see that in my head I've got
- 15:21broccoli versus walking in the sun.
- 15:26Yeah, true. Do you know what I mean?
- 15:27Walking in the sun is like, I'm not thinking about the lyrics,
- 15:30I'm thinking about his vocals in that song are just elite
- 15:33broccoli. Lyrics aren't that.
- 15:36The vocals aren't that great, but it's a really fun song.
- 15:39Yeah, exactly. And it is like you said, it's a
- 15:42story. It's story driven lyrics.
- 15:43It tells a story even though the the lyrics aren't like clever or
- 15:47like beautifully written, they're they're funny and
- 15:51they're happy and they're like they have a reason because
- 15:53they're they are driving a narrative.
- 15:54Yeah, I get you. With that, I was thinking, like,
- 15:57falling for you. And she wants to be, you know,
- 16:00like those funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:03Yeah, exactly, 100%. I agree.
- 16:05Yeah, I think I'd definitely go for the funny banger.
- 16:08I think I would too. As long as there's like, at
- 16:11least some sort of like harmony in there, that's fine.
- 16:13It doesn't have to be a whole song, you know?
- 16:15I need a riff. I need to be able to sing me
- 16:17sing me me song in the car. Just give me a good bridge and
- 16:21I'll be all right. That's the way to put it.
- 16:25Definitely amazing. OK, super.
- 16:30It's time for Song of the Week. This week we are leaving the
- 16:34porch light on, staring out of our bedroom windows and
- 16:37spiralling because we are talking about sleeping with the
- 16:40light on by Busted. I'm going to come to you first
- 16:55this this week. I think I, I feel like I did
- 16:58this to you last week as well, but I'm doing it again because I
- 17:00know you're a bit more prepared. Than I am.
- 17:02You want to judge me? Yeah, I'm yeah, I'm going to use
- 17:04what you say and then just copy it.
- 17:07OK, that's fine. That's fine.
- 17:09You want you want to know my ratings?
- 17:10Is that what you're trying to say?
- 17:11Indeed, yeah, I want. To know your ratings.
- 17:14OK, well, I have, I want to say I have two different ratings.
- 17:19I normally have my like actually I think I've got 3 because
- 17:22normally I have like my live rating and my rating now, but my
- 17:26rating as a kid and my rating as an adult are quite different.
- 17:33I think it this song for me as a child was 10 out of 10.
- 17:38I vividly remember making up little, like, dramatic dance
- 17:42routines in my front garden with my friends to the song.
- 17:45Like, I can see. Yeah, yeah, like proper.
- 17:51I can see myself. My old front garden had these
- 17:53two, like, planters on the side that never actually had plants
- 17:58in them. They were just like mud.
- 18:02And we used to stand on them and like jump off into the middle of
- 18:06the garden. We had this like, Oh my God way.
- 18:09So we'd jump off into the middle and we'd be like floaty.
- 18:12It was like, and I remember we would play this song on my
- 18:14little yeah, I bought this song in a magazine on my phone so I
- 18:19could play it out and out, you know, like in the back of
- 18:22magazines where it was like pay 1 LB and you could have to.
- 18:24Stop and play on your phone. Yeah, I remember that.
- 18:27I used to do that all the time. Yeah, so I remember, I remember
- 18:31doing this and I think this song is a kid.
- 18:34Like even the music video, I remember it so well.
- 18:36It was proper 10 out of 10 for me.
- 18:38But now I would say it's probably 7 out of 10.
- 18:44Not because yeah, I think it's an OK rating.
- 18:47It's and the seven isn't even because it's bad or the vocals
- 18:50miss or anything like that. I just think one, there's better
- 18:53songs on the album and two, I don't like the lyrics.
- 18:59Oh, really? I yeah, I think they're a bit
- 19:01baity. I they make you think that
- 19:03they're really deep, but actually they're really not that
- 19:06deep. Like he's basically saying he's
- 19:10scared of the dark now as X is engaged to someone else.
- 19:15Do you know what I mean? It's not.
- 19:18Bluntly. Like why?
- 19:21Why? Why you leaving your light on my
- 19:23friend? Come on.
- 19:25Oh. Shannon, don't be so.
- 19:27Horrible. They're emotional beings.
- 19:30I just think a lot of their other songs, even the shit funny
- 19:34ones, are better lyrically than this.
- 19:38But also I would say live this is an unmatched song when it
- 19:43comes to busted ballads. Like there is there is nothing,
- 19:48and I genuinely really mean that better than this song when it
- 19:51comes to busted ballads, Yeah, but I do think that is mainly
- 19:54down to the fact they only play the 2.0 version of Meet You
- 19:57There these days. That's very true.
- 20:00I completely get you with that. I think I think that Busted, and
- 20:04like we know that Busted has said with what was the other
- 20:08song we did, that was the ballad, the Busted ballad that
- 20:11they hated. Oh my God, why can't I remember
- 20:14it? Yeah, I can't think of it right
- 20:16now. It's gone.
- 20:17I know which one. I know which one we're talking
- 20:19about because we've already done it.
- 20:20But that one and they said how they, they obviously they hated
- 20:24that song. They would never perform it
- 20:25live. They were like bit like
- 20:26embarrassed by the lyrics and stuff.
- 20:28Yeah, and I know that on this losing you up, losing you,
- 20:32that's it. I knew it was something like
- 20:34that coming up as well. We've got without you, I think,
- 20:37which is not next or maybe the one after, I'm not sure.
- 20:41That's also. Yeah, that's also quite ballady.
- 20:44So considering like the first album, they've got 3 quite
- 20:47strong emotional ballads, haven't they?
- 20:50And we know that most people, most people love Busted for
- 20:56that. Like upbeat rocky year 3000 Air
- 20:58Hostess crushed the wedding energy.
- 21:00Do you know what I mean sucker? I really do quite like this
- 21:03song. I completely agree with you.
- 21:06As a kid, it was definitely a turn out and I think that I
- 21:09really did. I used to just scream this.
- 21:13And I remember having the album with them, like on the front
- 21:18stood against the black and white background with their
- 21:20like, you know, like the the height chart on the wall.
- 21:25And I can remember the lyric book inside and the middle page
- 21:29being a poster of them. And I used to literally put it
- 21:33up on the wall. But every time I had the CD on,
- 21:35I would get it down so that I could read all the lyrics
- 21:37because even though I knew the lyrics, I was like making sure I
- 21:40knew them and I I get. What you mean in that my friend?
- 21:43I do that now with Spot. I definitely do.
- 21:48And it's they're not complex, the lyrics at all, are they?
- 21:50Like you said that that is quite like easily written.
- 21:54But I do I do have a soft spot for it.
- 21:56It would have been a 10 out of 10.
- 21:58I think. I'd say I'd probably give it an
- 21:598 now because I do. I do really like it.
- 22:02And I think I agree with you in that like there are better
- 22:05songs. That's why it's not like right
- 22:07at the top. But I do think it still pulls A
- 22:10heartstring for me. And Oh my God, seeing this live,
- 22:14nothing compares when everybody in the in the crowd turns their
- 22:18little torch on and everybody just waves the torch and you
- 22:21just look around and every and the harmonies and and obviously
- 22:24at this tour, they did it without James and it was so sad.
- 22:27And they just said. Oh, that was yeah.
- 22:29You know this, this is James's verse, and I'm not going to sing
- 22:32James's verse, so we're going to leave it to you.
- 22:34And then that's like the whole crowd singing the whole verse.
- 22:36Oh my God, it's so emotional. I don't think I can write any
- 22:40lower because of how in like amazing that was and I think
- 22:44even. That's what I mean.
- 22:44Like live is just unmatched, isn't it?
- 22:47It's something. Else.
- 22:49It's one of those songs where like I know last week I said
- 22:52that I much prefer being in a small intimate stadium, a small
- 22:56intimate like gig capacity, but this song in a in a stadium.
- 23:01Like a arena kind of thing, yeah.
- 23:03Yeah, is just ridiculous. This, this, this is the kind of
- 23:08song that's made for, made for venues like that, especially
- 23:11with the audience interaction with the, with the torches and
- 23:14stuff. 100 percent, 100%. And I think they enjoy singing
- 23:18it. Like it doesn't look to me like
- 23:20they didn't. They don't enjoy it and it's
- 23:22always on their set list. It's one of their main songs.
- 23:26They, you know, they did it at Busted versus McFly.
- 23:28They've done it at all their live gigs that we've been to.
- 23:32It was on their like released. Obviously their release stuff.
- 23:38They did it. I've done it live absolutely
- 23:40millions of times. Did they do a 2.0 of this song?
- 23:45I don't know actually. OK, so yeah, they did actually
- 23:49release this song after my quick fact checked of they released
- 23:53this on their 2.0 guest album with Death Havana, which Shannon
- 23:57you've just said that you quite like but I don't know anything
- 24:00about so I I. Liked them when I was like 15
- 24:03years old. Right.
- 24:05OK, well, I've listened to the whole album, so I've obviously
- 24:07listened to this. I just couldn't remember it.
- 24:08Obviously it wasn't like a stand out guest feature for me, but I
- 24:11think like, I like the guest feature album, but I think some
- 24:15of them were just not really necessary.
- 24:17Do you know what I mean? Does that make sense?
- 24:19They were good, but they weren't all necessary.
- 24:21It doesn't make sense to me because I liked all of them
- 24:24apart from the story because it escaped my brain.
- 24:26Yeah, well, I could have done without the Jonas Brothers, if
- 24:30I'm completely honest, but, you know.
- 24:32Alright, I'm going to go there again.
- 24:35I tell you what as well with this song.
- 24:37So earlier I was listening to a couple of like live versions of
- 24:41this song and I don't know if you've heard it, but the Virgin
- 24:44Radio UK, they they did like they did like a set.
- 24:48I think it must have been when they were like coming back and,
- 24:53and they did it on Virgin Radio and they like filmed it in front
- 24:56of some fans. And Matt Willis's voice on that
- 25:00song literally is just like the best.
- 25:06It's, it's like, it's like kryptonite.
- 25:09It's like the best thing I've ever heard.
- 25:12Is this earlier? When were you?
- 25:14When you messaged me earlier and you said you were looking for a
- 25:16video, you, you weren't sure whether they sung it live.
- 25:20It was about without you, wasn't it?
- 25:22Because I took a screenshot of a video that I was watching of
- 25:26them live. And my God, Matt's vocals in the
- 25:30live version of Without You is Oh my God.
- 25:33Really. Oh my God, you need to watch
- 25:35that. I mean, I know you will anyway
- 25:36because you'll be looking for it for the post, but oh, it was
- 25:39just so good. Just him singing that, like that
- 25:42one part. Oh my God.
- 25:43My my whole body, just really. Good so this I've just seen on
- 25:47my phone that it's called the sunset sessions at Virgin radio.
- 25:51You should Taylor and I mean this like to you, but also to
- 25:55everybody that's listening that might not have watched it.
- 25:58It is. Oh yeah, we've.
- 25:58Got people listening to us. Yeah, I always forget this is
- 26:02there's a conversation between me and you.
- 26:05The sunset sessions at Virgin Radio, they do 3:00 AM, they do
- 26:09sleeping with that, and they do all sorts and it's just
- 26:12phenomenal. So if you weren't a busted fan,
- 26:15that's what you need to go in the.
- 26:16Yeah, Well, exactly. Yeah.
- 26:18And on that note, talking of team busted or whatever, are you
- 26:21team sharks or sharks? Shark swam or shocks went?
- 26:26I am sharks swam and always have been.
- 26:31However, I can remember several times throughout my life
- 26:35thinking, am I singing the right words?
- 26:39Because sometimes I was like so adamant that it was definitely
- 26:42sharks. It was definitely sharks.
- 26:44And then I'd sing along with someone else and they were
- 26:46singing shocks and I was like, is it sharks?
- 26:49Oh my God, I'm so embarrassed. I've been singing it wrong.
- 26:53So I. Actually before this I looked at
- 26:55two different official like lyric site stuff, one of them
- 27:00being Spotify and they both say different ones so Spotify says.
- 27:05Shocks. And then the other one I went
- 27:07on. I can't remember what it's
- 27:08called now, so they seem to be genius or something.
- 27:11A lot of debate about this and it has been going on for an
- 27:14awfully long time. Because you're the opposite to
- 27:16me, aren't you? Are you?
- 27:17Team Shocks. I, I know that I'm not right
- 27:22after research, however, I will always say no matter what, I
- 27:27will also say, always say shocks went through my veins.
- 27:30Yeah. So I know I'm not right and I'll
- 27:32live with it. I had a look online as well,
- 27:35just like after, you know, seeing it as part of the segment
- 27:38and we did find a few things on Reddit.
- 27:40It also said that their Busted versus McFly merchandise for
- 27:46sleeping with a light on did say Sharks on it.
- 27:49It does say that it was confirmed on Busted social media
- 27:52also on their Instagram with a reel.
- 27:54This was about 5 months ago that the person had posted this on
- 27:58Reddit. Excuse me?
- 28:00And it was on Busted's official page.
- 28:03It was a video of the live performance and it had the
- 28:05lyrics over the top of it. And it did say sharks swim
- 28:09through my. Face.
- 28:09Oh my gosh, I just said. I've just watched a live
- 28:12recording of it. Why didn't I just look at their
- 28:14mouths? Well, I'll that's what I did.
- 28:17That is exactly. And it is very, I watched 2
- 28:20videos of them singing it live and 1 was focused on Charlie and
- 28:25the other was focused on James and I could not tell.
- 28:29I literally couldn't tell. I was like, surely you can see,
- 28:32you can tell the difference between swim and went and sharks
- 28:36and sharks and shocks is hard because it's only one letter
- 28:39that's different. But sharks swim and shocks went,
- 28:43they're very different. And that's what I was looking
- 28:45for. I was looking for that like
- 28:46hard, hard consonant sound with the TA.
- 28:49Do you know what I mean? Sharks.
- 28:51No one can see me right now. Me and Taylor aren't normally we
- 28:55video call when we do this, but we're not, yeah, we haven't done
- 28:58it. And So what you won't know know
- 29:00Taylor or anyone listening is that I'm sat here moving my
- 29:04mouth to sharks, sharks, sharks, sharks.
- 29:08Seeing how I'm literally sat here reading the words and just
- 29:13moving my mouth in the position of them to see how different
- 29:17they are. They're not very different.
- 29:19There you go. No, it's one.
- 29:21It's literally one letter, but it's swim and went.
- 29:24That's where I sort of, I could like feel that I.
- 29:27Knew maybe that's what I should be doing, not.
- 29:29I I also read, which was quite interesting that that somebody
- 29:34said, I really like that they chose sharks and that it wasn't
- 29:37shocks because actually you, you feel shocks in your body quite a
- 29:42lot, don't you? Sometimes you just sat there and
- 29:44you get like a shock up your back.
- 29:45Or have you ever had shooty bum? I mean, Keith Lemon talks about
- 29:48that all the time. Shooty bum.
- 29:50Shooty bum is the worst thing in the whole world.
- 29:53You just sat there and it's like somebody's shot lightning up
- 29:56your ass. Like I swear, I've had that so
- 29:59many times. I don't know if there's
- 30:00something wrong with me, but it's a real.
- 30:02Thing there is, you've got to shoot your bum.
- 30:04Shoot, bum. Yeah.
- 30:05And you get it in your back and your legs, whatever.
- 30:07But you never get sharks swimming through your veins.
- 30:09So it's a little bit very, it's a bit more dramatic, you know,
- 30:13it's a bit more. And that is what this song is.
- 30:16Destructive. Emotionally destructive.
- 30:19That's what I think is a good. Way he's scared of the dark now
- 30:22he's got sharks in his veins. There's a photo in a picture
- 30:26frame. It's all very dramatic.
- 30:29And also let's think about the fact that this song is literally
- 30:32about heartbreak, right? It's about struggling to let go.
- 30:35It's like when somebody leaves you or not.
- 30:37And I always see this as like like the one that got away.
- 30:41If you did you do you remember that song by Katy Perry, the one
- 30:44that got away? The.
- 30:45One that got away. Oh, that's song.
- 30:48Life. I love that song so much.
- 30:51I see that very similar to this in like obviously completely
- 30:54different light, but in the same sort of way.
- 30:56And it says like, you know, the, the, the song itself is about
- 31:02finding it hard to let go. It's shows about how like
- 31:07emotionally shaken the person is because they're having to sleep
- 31:10with the light on. And, and that refers really, if
- 31:12you think about story wise, like kids sleep with the light on.
- 31:16Do you know what I mean? Like adults don't like some
- 31:19probably do. And I can sleep with the light
- 31:21on, but I don't need it on. But I, I feel like if you, you
- 31:25think about somebody sleeping with a light on, you have that
- 31:28like childlike scared. It's like feeling unsettled.
- 31:33It's needing comfort. Like it's that sort of thing,
- 31:36you know, where like you, you don't necessarily relate that to
- 31:40love and being upset that somebody's gone.
- 31:43So I think it's a really clever way of doing it.
- 31:45It's like imagery, isn't it? They're showing like how emotion
- 31:47is shaped. He is, and I think as well, like
- 31:52I like this. Is it the second verse heard
- 31:55she's engaged. Spoke to her.
- 31:57Best friend. Oh, it's so emotional because he
- 32:00does say like no one's to blame. Here's where it all ends.
- 32:03And I think like, that's really emotional.
- 32:05I think like, I think a lot of us have probably had somebody in
- 32:10our life that we've lost in not like they're gone forever, like,
- 32:15you know, that kind of way, but in a it's just not the way it
- 32:20used to be. Do you know what I mean?
- 32:22Like we've all had friendships end and and not like, just
- 32:25because you've fallen out or something like that.
- 32:28I don't mean that. I mean, like if you've ever had
- 32:31a friend that. Yeah.
- 32:32And I can remember when I was, I was in primary school, it was my
- 32:37best friend. She was called Megan.
- 32:39And I used to spend every minute of every day with Megan.
- 32:42And I used to go over her house and she used to have this like
- 32:44little annex outside with like a little sofa bed in.
- 32:47And we used to have like little sleepovers.
- 32:49So we used to like play loads of games and we used to put makeup
- 32:52on each other and do each other's nails and talk about
- 32:55boys and we'd like write letters to each other and stuff.
- 32:57And like I just remember her being like my whole childhood,
- 33:00like she was just everywhere. And I can remember the day that
- 33:04she came in and she was just at to school.
- 33:06I mean, we were literally like 11 and she said I'm moving to
- 33:10Australia. And we were like, what do you
- 33:13mean? Like she was like I'm moving to
- 33:14Australia because her fact she was born in Australia, Her mum
- 33:17was from Australia or whether her mum was from Australia and
- 33:21she was born here, I can't remember.
- 33:22But her mum had this broken up with her dad and they decided to
- 33:26move to Australia and that was it.
- 33:29We were like, what the fuck? Like she's going and she left
- 33:32and it was just awful. I can remember the last day she
- 33:35was at school and everybody was crying, the boys, the girls,
- 33:39like my whole class we were just stood in the playground just
- 33:42hugging her goodbye. And I still, it still makes me
- 33:44quite emotional thinking about it and I'm 33 because it was
- 33:48like it chokes me up. It genuinely does like, because
- 33:52I can remember that, that feelings like it was yesterday
- 33:55and I've, it's really funny. When I was like 16, we went to
- 33:58Australia, me and my mum went to Australia and I saw her.
- 34:01It was amazing. We went out like way out of our
- 34:03way a few hours so that we could go and see her because I was
- 34:06like, if I'm in the same country as you, I'm coming to see you.
- 34:10And we spent the whole day together And when she left, we
- 34:13both cried and it was just like amazing.
- 34:15And it, you know, it'd been like a good 4-5 years since we'd seen
- 34:18each other at that point. And then she came over, you
- 34:21know, maybe like 10 years later. I think we were probably like
- 34:25mid 20s, maybe 2520. No, I wouldn't have been 25
- 34:30because I wasn't with Jack. So it must have been about 2223
- 34:34maybe when she came over and I met her, she came to Hale and we
- 34:37had a meal at the salt bar and we, we drank cocktails and we
- 34:42laughed and it was amazing. And like, I know that if she had
- 34:46stayed in this country, we'd still be friends now.
- 34:48She'd have been my longest friend.
- 34:50I know that like with all my heart that I, she would have
- 34:53still been in my, in my life. And I feel like songs like this
- 34:56are like that because I probably didn't sleep when she left.
- 34:59I probably found it really hard to sleep because she literally
- 35:02was like everything. She was my best, best friend.
- 35:05And I think so many of us have been through that.
- 35:08So many of us have have lost friends that, you know, not
- 35:11necessarily that they're that they're lost, but they're just
- 35:14not there anymore. You know, I know you've had that
- 35:16situation as well, haven't you? Yeah, I've got a a couple of
- 35:19friends that come to mind when I think about things like that.
- 35:21One of them is just we've just drifted and it's like really sad
- 35:26when I think about it because we lived together and we were best
- 35:29friends and she saw me through my darkest times, like proper
- 35:33the darkest of times. And I think I was, I saw her
- 35:37through hers, but just life, life's.
- 35:41And then you drift apart. And then I have another one
- 35:44which is like really painful to think about because she was my
- 35:49best friend for my entire, I don't want to say adult life,
- 35:54but like 16 and on NO15 and onwards.
- 35:59Yeah, it's like pinnacle point when you start to grow.
- 36:02Up with it, isn't it? When you become you?
- 36:04Do you know what I mean? And she was my person.
- 36:07We would we would go for like drives at midnight and we would
- 36:13put on like I can specifically remember us putting on Jason
- 36:17Derülo, want you to want me. And we would scream it in the
- 36:21car driving around at midnight in the rain.
- 36:25And it would be wonderful. And it's really that relation,
- 36:30that relationship or friendship ended.
- 36:32And that that's when I think about, you know, that whole
- 36:37sleeping with a light on metaphor that you're talking
- 36:39about being unsettled and scared isn't how I felt when it when it
- 36:42broke down, but it is how I feel when I think about not having
- 36:48that person anymore. Do you know what I mean?
- 36:50Like when it's like, here's where it all ends in the, in the
- 36:56in the song says to me like it's he's not talking about when they
- 37:00broke up, but he's talking about the hope.
- 37:03The hope since they've broken up to now has now ended because
- 37:07she's engaged. You know what I mean?
- 37:09That's that's where it all ends, that there's always that being
- 37:12together again. Yeah.
- 37:12Yeah, there's always that like, oh, it could still be even
- 37:16though you're not here. It could still be because we're
- 37:19you're you're you and I, me and we could still be something.
- 37:22But yeah, there's a there's a line, isn't there?
- 37:25I completely agree. And I think it's the the thought
- 37:28of knowing what could have been. Like I said, if Meg had still
- 37:31been here, I feel like we would still be best friends now and
- 37:34like. You could ever.
- 37:35Prove that you could never prove that you would still be best
- 37:38friends and like like you said, life changes and stuff, but I
- 37:42think it's that. Both of those girls would be my
- 37:44like maid of honour. Do you know what I mean?
- 37:46That's how that's what I mean. I mean, I'm not engaged or
- 37:48anything, but like, those were people that I would think about
- 37:52for those things. Do you know those?
- 37:53Moments. Yeah, exactly. 100 percent,
- 37:55100%. Like they're both, they're
- 37:57actually both godparents to my first child.
- 38:01Like that's how much they meant and still mean to me.
- 38:05Because if they didn't mean those kind of things to me, then
- 38:08I wouldn't think about them when I thought about this song.
- 38:11Yeah, exactly. And there's always a memory.
- 38:13Isn't that like you can't just erase people from your life and
- 38:17it doesn't mean you wouldn't want to erase them from your
- 38:19lives. It's not like it was ever
- 38:21something horrible that happened that they treated you bad, like,
- 38:24you know, or in a way that was they did something God awful.
- 38:27It's just adrift. And, you know, it's sad when it
- 38:31does happen. I've had it too, with, you know,
- 38:33with people in my adult life as well.
- 38:35And I think you, I think one of the best ways somebody described
- 38:38it. And I think I genuinely think it
- 38:41might have been you. I think you might have used this
- 38:43phrase at some point. And it wasn't necessarily about
- 38:45this, but it's it's like having different people for different
- 38:49seasons of your life. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:52And I know that how lovely it is to have a friend that you've
- 38:55known since you were like 12:30. And I can still be friends now.
- 38:58Like that's Tamara for me. You know, Tamara, you know,
- 39:00she's, I've known Tamara since I was 11.
- 39:02We've been through a lot together.
- 39:04We've been through heartbreak and, you know, first loves and
- 39:07first times and college and, you know, going to uni and parties
- 39:11and getting drunk for the first time and all those things.
- 39:13We've done a lot of that together or we've talked about a
- 39:15lot of it together and we were chose the same career path and
- 39:20she doesn't live far, but I don't see her every day.
- 39:23I don't speak to her every day, but she is a very close friend
- 39:25of mine. Still, it doesn't mean that she
- 39:29knows me the best because I don't think she knows me
- 39:32anything like you do, because I'm a different person with you
- 39:36as I am with her, because we have different things that I
- 39:39know I can talk to her about opposed to what I can talk to
- 39:43you about. And I think that's such a true
- 39:44thing. We do have different people for
- 39:46different seasons of our life, and I think that's OK.
- 39:49It's OK to have that. I don't think it's a bad thing.
- 39:52I think it's good. It's like what I spoke about
- 39:54earlier when I was like my adult friends.
- 39:56It's not really because you have like I have friends that have
- 39:59only ever known me as a mum. Yeah, Mum, Friends.
- 40:03Yeah, I have friends, Mum, friends.
- 40:05School friends. And then I have friends that
- 40:07don't really know me as a mum at all.
- 40:09Yeah, exactly like our friends from uni.
- 40:12I wouldn't say I'm close with any any of them really anymore.
- 40:16I mean I'm close ish with Steve and you know.
- 40:22And you would say that you you like them and you love them in
- 40:25a, in a way, but it like they're, Oh yeah, you're not
- 40:27like that with the way I am with them.
- 40:29Like it's different. Yeah, yeah, 100% I yeah, yeah,
- 40:33yeah. I love them so much, but it's
- 40:36they're not, they're not my best friends.
- 40:38Do you know what I mean? And but, but they, your people
- 40:41know me. Just know that.
- 40:42You care about? Yeah.
- 40:43Yeah, yeah, they know me. Not as a mum.
- 40:45Do you know what I mean? They know you need me and they
- 40:48know Taylor's hen party me. Do you know what I mean?
- 40:51They don't know they. But what I mean is they don't
- 40:55know me as like they don't really see me with my kids apart
- 40:59from at your wedding. I don't think they've ever met
- 41:01my kids. Apart from your wedding.
- 41:02No. No, Exactly.
- 41:03And then I have people like you who have known me through most
- 41:07of my seasons. Yeah.
- 41:09And you know me quite deeply in each of the seasons.
- 41:12Do you know what I mean? We were. 18 when we met, and I'm
- 41:1533 now. Yeah, that's 15 years.
- 41:17But that's what I mean earlier about like the 15 years.
- 41:21How is that even real? That's what I mean when I said
- 41:24about losing a friend, just losing a friend who's known you
- 41:28for your adult life. I don't really mean as an adult.
- 41:30I mean as you become who you are.
- 41:32Yeah, exactly do. You know what I mean?
- 41:34Get you? Yeah, definitely.
- 41:35Yeah, yeah. It's a very deep episode, isn't?
- 41:38It, it really is. Oh my God, how did that go from
- 41:40us talking about, you know, sharks and shocks to long lost
- 41:44friends? You know, we've said that on
- 41:49this podcast a few times. We've said that it's, it's
- 41:51mainly a music commentary. It's mainly us being stupid and
- 41:54funny and nostalgic, but that we like to be honest and open as
- 41:57well. And I think that's important
- 41:58because that's what our viewers are and our listeners are with
- 42:00us because we've had so many lovely people message and so
- 42:03many people share stories and, you know, reach out just for a
- 42:07chat and that's lovely. And I think that the fact that
- 42:09we can do that shows that we've got the right audience, you
- 42:11know? 100%, if you guys could read
- 42:14RDMS, it's like a very 5050 mixture of like, Oh my God, I
- 42:19love Tom Fletcher and also, Oh my God, I'm going through this
- 42:23thing. Yeah.
- 42:24Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 42:25Oh my God. I'm like, Oh my God, I'm going
- 42:27through this thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:29Exactly. Yeah, I think that's important.
- 42:31I really do. Well, a wonderful song with, you
- 42:34know, a nice hit. Not, I'd say not hidden meaning
- 42:37behind it, but a, a relatable meaning for so many of us.
- 42:39I think it's definitely not I. Still stand by my fact that they
- 42:43make you think it's deep, but it's actually really not that.
- 42:45It's not that deep, but we just got really.
- 42:47Deep. Yeah, on that note, we've also
- 42:51just got really, really deep swimming with the sharks.
- 42:56With the sharks, they're in my veins right now and I'm scared
- 42:59of the dark all of a sudden. Yeah, exactly.
- 43:01And on that note, if you could vote in the poll that I'm going
- 43:04to put underneath this episode, did you hear sharks swim or did
- 43:07you hear shocks went? Because we'd love to see what
- 43:11everybody chooses. And we're going to pop this up
- 43:13as a poll on our Instagram stories as well, so keep your
- 43:16eye out for that. I'll probably post it the day
- 43:18after this goes live or maybe the week after, just so you guys
- 43:21have got a bit of time to think about it.
- 43:23We'd love to hear what you. Think got a bit of time to
- 43:24listen to this song that has been out 20 years.
- 43:27I know, but people don't always on on the day this episode comes
- 43:31out. We always have like like 30 to
- 43:3350 people listen on the day. But then the week after is when
- 43:38we actually get like numbers of people listening because most
- 43:41when people when this comes out, most people at work, because it
- 43:44normally comes live on a Friday morning and most people are like
- 43:46on their way to work or at work. Most people listen over the
- 43:49weekend when they've got a bit of time.
- 43:50So, you know, we'll give you a, we'll give you a few days to
- 43:53think about how, because it's a very important question.
- 43:55Is it sharks or is it sharks? Who knows the deepest?
- 43:58It's the deepest question on this whole podcast.
- 44:00It really is extra deep. OK, let's get on.
- 44:07We're doing all right. We're at 45 minutes.
- 44:08So we're actually, I think we're probably perfectly stuck for
- 44:11this episode if we don't take too long doing positive tests.
- 44:14I've done these for you as well. So you don't actually know who
- 44:16they are. OK, You'll be fine.
- 44:21OK, it's time for Busted says. This is a game that we play
- 44:28every few weeks. We mix it up with McFly and
- 44:31Busted and I or Shannon chooses 3 or 4 quotes and the other
- 44:36person has to guess which quote matches which band member.
- 44:40So obviously this week is Busted and I'm going to read you 3
- 44:44different quotes and you have to tell me, is it Matt Willis, is
- 44:46it Charlie Simpson or is it James Bourne?
- 44:48Are you ready, Shan? Right.
- 44:50No, I'm notoriously awful at this.
- 44:53I know, why are we so bad at quizzes?
- 44:54It's actually depressing so. Bad at this, I promise we might.
- 44:58We do like these bands. I know.
- 45:01OK, these aren't too bad. I don't think they're too hard.
- 45:03I think you'll get these OK. Yeah, well, it's me.
- 45:07I will read them all and then you can think about it.
- 45:10OK, Rather than like me asking each one, I think I'll read them
- 45:13all and then you can have things for like you need to hear them
- 45:15all in order to sort of make it make sense in your brain.
- 45:17Quote number one, we wrote songs about what we knew, which at the
- 45:22time was basically girls and being confused.
- 45:27Quote #2 Being in a band that young, everything feels massive,
- 45:32every emotion feels like it's the end of the world.
- 45:36And quote #3 I always wanted to be taken seriously as a
- 45:41musician, not just the guy in a pop band.
- 45:44Oh, so quote 2 and quote three I think are the same person.
- 45:48I mean, they're obviously not. But no, they're not.
- 45:51But they do it does. It is quite similar, yeah.
- 45:56I think quote 2 is more about emotions and quote 3 is more
- 45:59about being taken seriously and #1 is just girls and being.
- 46:03But I feel like quote 2 and quote three would both be said
- 46:06in the same interview. Do you know what I mean?
- 46:09Yeah, they may. They may well have been.
- 46:12I just found them under different quotes for each
- 46:14person. OK, quote one I'm going to say
- 46:18is Matt Willis. OK, Matt.
- 46:22I feel like he's the, if it was back then, like if it's an old
- 46:27interview, Oh no, we wrote songs about what we knew, so maybe it
- 46:31wasn't an old one. I was thinking he's the only one
- 46:33that would really talk about girls because I feel like that's
- 46:35not really a Charlie thing to do.
- 46:37I think I don't really know the man and I think James would
- 46:42have. I think James would have.
- 46:45I don't know. I think I don't think he would
- 46:47mention girls either. But then again I am awful at
- 46:50this so maybe I should go with what I don't think I'm going to
- 46:56say. 2 is James and three is Charlie because I feel like
- 47:05Charlie would have said the pop band.
- 47:08Like if it was James he would have just said band.
- 47:11Maybe, but Charlie is notoriously trying to step away
- 47:14from being pop. Pop OK, I don't know, it could
- 47:19be completely. Are you locking your answers in?
- 47:22Yeah, she wants. To be a millionaire.
- 47:24Final answer. Final answer.
- 47:28OK. You have one out of three, just
- 47:34one. I mean, it's better than 0, this
- 47:36one is, but it's not as good as two and it's definitely not as
- 47:38good as three, OK. True.
- 47:40Did I get 2 and three the wrong way round?
- 47:43No, you're correct. Answer was number 3CC always
- 47:47wanted. To be taken seriously.
- 47:48I thought that was really obvious.
- 47:49Not just the guy in a pop band. I thought that was really,
- 47:51really obvious. So I'm proud you got that one
- 47:53right. It was James that said we wrote
- 47:55songs about girls and being confused, and it was Matt that
- 47:58said every emotion felt like the end of the world.
- 48:00Which I think actually was probably a quote from his On the
- 48:03Mend podcast, by the sounds of it, because I feel like I've had
- 48:05that before, like on in my ears rather than being read.
- 48:09So yeah, there you go. I'm just.
- 48:11Thinking that basically girls with James because I know what
- 48:14he looked like back then and I feel like he didn't get many
- 48:16girls. Hey, hey.
- 48:19I love James Bond till I die, James Bond till I die.
- 48:22And I loved him then, I love him now.
- 48:25So don't you dare. No, no, no.
- 48:28I will stand on it because James Bourne on his own.
- 48:32Yeah, I guess there are. There's a niche that wants
- 48:35niche. But you stand, James Bourne back
- 48:39then, next to Charlie Frickin Simpson, and you tell me that
- 48:44James is the one that gets the girls.
- 48:46I wasn't. Ever Charlie girl, I was James
- 48:49and Matt bro that. Do you know what is funny?
- 48:52The way I remembered. I didn't write these answers
- 48:55down because the way I remembered them was in my order
- 48:57of my favourite band members, James, then Matt Charlie.
- 49:01So I remembered who who wrote which quite.
- 49:06I don't like Charlie. Obviously.
- 49:07There's probably a bit of animosity there considering he
- 49:10left one of my favourite. Oh yeah, he made me, but he made
- 49:13me wear black for the first time and I haven't stopped since.
- 49:16Well, there you go. I did obviously look at him and
- 49:18think, Oh yeah, he's fair. But like, I mean, he's he's got
- 49:22a strange look about him. He's, I mean, even now, like I
- 49:24don't look at him now and think the same as I do when I look at
- 49:27Tom Fletcher or Danny Jones or even Matt.
- 49:30Are you joking? I really don't.
- 49:32No, I don't. I'm not on the Charlie hype.
- 49:34I know so many people are. It's not that he's not
- 49:36attractive. I'm not like he's not
- 49:38unattractive. I just, he's just not my vibe.
- 49:40You could see my face right now. Charlie Simpson sing Singing
- 49:433:00 AM is enough to change infertility in all women.
- 49:48I mean, the voice is something else.
- 49:50Obviously the voice. I'm talking just physically.
- 49:54Like I said, he's not unattractive.
- 49:55I think my kind of thing, yeah. I think he's got the same appeal
- 49:59as like Ed Sheeran would do you know what I mean?
- 50:02Yeah. Ed Sheeran without the guitar.
- 50:05Yeah, not that great. Yeah.
- 50:07Although actually, no, I take, I completely take that back
- 50:10because Charlie and his wife in his Nine Inch Nails wife beater
- 50:13or his Brittany. Brittany or the Britain?
- 50:16Oh, the Brittany 1 is. So no, you can't.
- 50:20You can't say, oh, the Brittany one.
- 50:21No you can't after saying that. Sorry.
- 50:23I'm taking. Off.
- 50:24I didn't say he was. That he's not unattractive.
- 50:27I just, he's just not. I'm not allowed to appreciate
- 50:29Charlie Simpson and the wife beater sorry anymore.
- 50:31Anymore, right? Don't look like.
- 50:35The way it works, if that's the way it works, Shannon, you're
- 50:38never allowed to listen to McFly songs ever again because you
- 50:41voted them two out of 10 and. I stand by every single one of
- 50:46my twos exactly but you're. Cancelled from Galaxy Crashes,
- 50:51the podcast. Oh dear.
- 50:55I get it. It's fine.
- 50:56I'm sorry, Charlie. I still love you.
- 50:58Don't worry, it's all good. Not that he cares.
- 51:02He's listening. Sorry, Charlie, he's listening.
- 51:06And he's like, what did you say about my eyebrows?
- 51:10What? Did you say about my strange
- 51:11face? I am all for a bushy eyebrow.
- 51:14Have you seen my eyebrows? I haven't plucked my eyebrows
- 51:16since I was pregnant and my daughter was 2.
- 51:20So it's been 2 1/2 years since I plucked my eyebrows.
- 51:24What's that I get every time we mention Charlie's eyebrows?
- 51:26I think about the song McFly the musical where Tom's like, and
- 51:31I'd kick the one out with the eyebrow condition.
- 51:34Yes, I think about it every time.
- 51:37Oh, so good. I haven't watched any of that
- 51:39for so long. I think I need to have like a
- 51:42bin. Do you know what?
- 51:42I'm off work Thursday and Friday and I'm at home and I'm going to
- 51:45be sorting through life at home. All the clothes, I'm ripping my
- 51:48wardrobe apart. I'm going to just put all the
- 51:50like live and all the documentaries and the backstage
- 51:54things on my TV upstairs while I'm putting everything away.
- 51:57I'm just going to do that. Do you know what I'm going to do
- 51:58for you? So me, Bradley, are taking my
- 52:03brother to go and see and Shikari and to give my because a
- 52:08little bit of context, he's just but with his girlfriend who he
- 52:10used to go and see all of the gigs with and me and Brandy were
- 52:12like, let's bring him along with us.
- 52:14So Will doesn't really know and Shikari very well.
- 52:17So I've given him a list of specifically videos to watch.
- 52:23I'm going to do that to you. I'm going to make a little like
- 52:26playlist of like obscure McFly and Busted live things.
- 52:32And I'm just going to say. Documentaries and like backstage
- 52:35passes kind of thing I'm going to watch.
- 52:38I'm just going to go on that all things McFly YouTube and just
- 52:40watch every single one of their videos because they've got so
- 52:43much good stuff on there. I actually love it.
