- 0:00Hi, I'm Maca. I playing Cosmic Psychos with Rossberry Knight and Dean John
- 0:06Maller from December one to three. We do forty years of Cosmic Psychos at
- 0:13the Theatre Royal in Castle, Maine and at the moment we're on tour till
- 0:19Harroween Halloween in America. Yeah if Maaca, thanks for taking time out to
- 0:25day to speak with us, brother, no problem. The festive season takes
- 0:31on greater meaning than ever this year, mate, when Sandy gets his martial
- 0:35orders in favor of three of the good counts of Australia. When the Cosmic
- 0:38Psychos as a band leave the dirty thirties and enter the naughty forties. So
- 0:43should I be saying congratulations or commiserations? Mate, we're getting old. I
- 0:48think you'd probably say both. Chris, I think there's either side to it,
- 0:53you know. Yeah, yeah, no, it's good and you know
- 0:58we've seen a few things good and bad, but now we're always still going
- 1:04and it's good fun. So that's good, you know. And a typical
- 1:11psychos fashion made yeare having three parties over consecutive nights to commemorate the occasion at
- 1:17the Theater i Arel on December first, second, and third. Like,
- 1:19I can't remember the last time I pulled a triple bendal like that. Mate,
- 1:23He's just set the bar pretty high. Yeah, it depends on what
- 1:26the record is. The bar might be low. We'll see, hmm.
- 1:34Yeah. But no, no, no, we're looking forward to it.
- 1:38There's some great bands playing and all that sort of stuff. I mean,
- 1:42we've got people coming from overseas to do it, like Pat Todd, he's
- 1:48nearly seventy and he hasn't even been to Australia yet. This is his first
- 1:52trip. Blowers, Dead Clampits. I can't tell you the secret ones.
- 2:01That's still a secret. Yeah, can't give us any any hints. No,
- 2:08I'm not a an arson, it's not kiss There you go. They
- 2:16couldn't afford to play with you, mate, Fucking well maybe that's the case,
- 2:22Crease, But looking through it, like you guys have hand picked different
- 2:27bands to play with you for every show. So on Friday you've got the
- 2:30Chats who was Affordable Repayments and Dead Clampets. On Saturday you've got Pat Todd
- 2:34from the US, the Prize, the touch Our Charts, Southeast Desert Medal
- 2:39and Boo boodle Boys and special guests, and on the Sunday there's Unknowns,
- 2:45Meat Beaters and Kate five like for the band shows and Freddy potential reason made
- 2:50or they just the first one is to say, yes, no, we
- 2:53tried to make it so that it's sort of represented some of the stuff that
- 2:57had gone over over the time, you know. So, and they're all
- 3:04good people and all that sort of stuff, which all adds to it to
- 3:07be pretty fun, you know. So, Yeah, there's probably another twenty
- 3:12five band we would Yeah, we could have put on another twenty five bands,
- 3:16but the party would have been going for two weeks and that probably is
- 3:22a little bit too far outside our comfort zone. Yeah. Yeah. At
- 3:29the local brewers love Shack are getting behind the party two with Cosmic Psychos branded
- 3:32beers, like does that beer have to be taste tested and approved by you
- 3:37guys in the band first? Oh? Bloody? Well hope. So yeah,
- 3:42I'm sure it'll be worked out, Chris, Yes, yes, do
- 3:46you think they'll they'll actually end up bringing out that as a as a permanent
- 3:50thing. I guess, like to commemorate the band, don't know, I
- 3:53don't know. I mean maybe if people want to drink the beer. But
- 3:59no, I don't know on that one. I'm sorry, they should thank
- 4:03you. I also understand there's going to be events and after parties around Castlemaine
- 4:10as well. Is there much more to tell about that? Yet? Not
- 4:13too much that I'm now at this stage unless you can enlighten me. Well,
- 4:18I'll be getting back off the rock the boat cruise on the first,
- 4:21and i'll be in Sydney for the first in the second, so I reckon
- 4:25I might just make at least one of those shows. Good on you mate,
- 4:29good work. Are you going to be playing different sets every night over
- 4:33those three nice mates? Yeah, that's the goal. That's the goal.
- 4:39Yeah, yeah, we're going to try and play three different sets. You
- 4:44might even hit your gang green dream. You'd actually ride them all out and
- 4:49then have set sets. So you're just gonna play what the crowd wants.
- 4:54Right them out with a sharpie, no problem. He's actually taken bets to
- 5:02see who's going to be the last man's standing over the three days, or
- 5:05you're going to be pacing yourselves. No, I don't think we need any
- 5:11bets, but you know, Digger is a betting man, so he'll probably
- 5:15put money on it. That wouldn't surprise me. But no, we'll be
- 5:20okay, we'll pace it until we fall over, you know. No,
- 5:28I'm not sure if it's coincidence or not made of its fate. But last
- 5:31year on the first weekend in December, you're playing at Good Things Festival.
- 5:35This weekend you're putting on well, this year you're putting on your own mini
- 5:39festival. Mate. That's that says a lot about how good you can't sta
- 5:44oh, I don't know. We're just you know, it's good that that
- 5:46can happen, and that's good, you know. So, I don't think
- 5:51it's got anything to do with how good ass cancer are. Universal appeal to
- 6:00the band. They made like one years of playing at a major international festival
- 6:03on that weekend, and the next year you're celebrating forty years of being a
- 6:09band. It's pretty cool. Yeah, no, thank you. Yeah,
- 6:15just to clear it up, made in case people are getting the wrong idea.
- 6:18It's not a fair well party. Is that it's just a celebration of
- 6:21forty years. No, no, no, there's other shows sort of on
- 6:27the horizon as far as I know, So if people want us to play
- 6:32and ask us, it will probably keep doing it, I suppose, but
- 6:39no, I don't think it's the end of the band, shouldn't they If
- 6:43you got any any fresh material to play for us made or you're just going
- 6:46to stick to the back catalog, we might work out a couple of Mountain,
- 6:50a piece that sort of came out, and we haven't done much of
- 6:55that. We've played a couple a couple of times, but now Ross is
- 7:00going to come up and we're going to work it out, and hopefully Dean
- 7:03Wild too if he's not too busy. So we'll work it out when we
- 7:08get home from America. Cool. Before we let you go and get back
- 7:14to you to your party mate, have you started three different Spotify playlists based
- 7:17on bands we speak to you so using your own songs? Can you give
- 7:21me songs for a playlist to get the party started, playlist to save your
- 7:26marriage, and a playlist that could potentially end your marriage. Save your marriage
- 7:36would be I'm Up, You're Out, Dead, Brew Gang, Green Dream,
- 7:46and come On Can awesome very much. Marriage would be pub nice stating
- 8:01to go to the pub, drink, the man who drank too much,
- 8:07drinking with the ESAs and lost Cause awesome and party started, Party started,
- 8:16Um a set of chats covers. There you are that will perform WADA's brother.
- 8:28I may will enjoy the rest of your time over in America. Mate.
- 8:30We'll look forward to seeing you back here in early December. The parties
- 8:33on December first, second, and third at the Royal Theater. So get
- 8:37yourself longer and party onlike we're forty years old. Yeah, or thirty or
- 8:43twenty five or seventy yep, I'll be doing the latter, mate. Thank
- 8:52you very much. Did you see again? Bro? Thank you
