- 0:01Hello. Welcome to the No God Coach
- 0:03Huddle for January 26, 2026. A
- 0:06two-minute call from God's playbook. To
- 0:08know him better, we can love and obey
- 0:11him more. Let's huddle up and hear
- 0:13today's from Matthew 26, which says,
- 0:16"Jesus went with his disciples to a
- 0:18place called Gethsemane, and he said to
- 0:20them, "Sit here while I go over there
- 0:22and pray. My heart is so filled with
- 0:24sadness that I could die. Remain here
- 0:27and stay awake with me." And going on a
- 0:29little further, he fell on his face,
- 0:31praying, "My father, if possible, let
- 0:33this cup pass from me. Yet not what I
- 0:35want, but what you want. Stay awake and
- 0:38pray that you will not be put to the
- 0:40test." The spirit is indeed eager, but
- 0:42human nature is weak. Today's plague
- 0:46comes straight out of the garden of
- 0:47Gethsemane. It's the final hour before
- 0:50Jesus is arrested, beaten, and
- 0:52crucified. And the question we need to
- 0:54ask is simple. Why did Jesus pray? Was
- 0:57he praying to feel better? Was he asking
- 0:59God for comfort? Was he hoping the
- 1:01father would change his circumstances?
- 1:04Listen to his words. My heart is so
- 1:06filled with sadness I could die. Jesus
- 1:09wasn't numb. He wasn't depacked. He felt
- 1:12the full weight of what obedience would
- 1:14cost. And yet he prayed, "Not what I
- 1:17want, but what you want." Man, that
- 1:19right there is the purpose of prayer.
- 1:21Prayer is an informing God of our
- 1:23problems as if they exist to solve our
- 1:26discomfort. Prayer is how God builds
- 1:28spiritual resolve until obedience
- 1:31becomes unavoidable. Jesus prayed until
- 1:34flesh submitted to the will of the
- 1:36father. And then he turned to his
- 1:38disciples and he warned them, "Stay
- 1:39awake and pray so you will not be put to
- 1:41the test. The spirit is willing but the
- 1:44flesh is weak." Face to laugh, Jesus
- 1:47prayed. And when pressure came, Jesus
- 1:49stood up and Peter folded. Peter didn't
- 1:53fail because he didn't love Jesus. He
- 1:55failed because he lacked spiritual
- 1:57resolve. Sweet drained what little
- 2:00resolve he did have, leaving the flesh
- 2:02in control. And when the moment came to
- 2:05identify with Christ, he denied him
- 2:07instead. Man, that's not just Peter's
- 2:10story. That's ours as well. We often
- 2:12treat prayer as a last resort instead of
- 2:14a daily discipline. Some pray briefly,
- 2:17some fall asleep. Many never pray long
- 2:20enough for their will to be bent toward
- 2:22obedience. And then we wonder why our
- 2:24faith collapses under pressure. Prayer
- 2:27is meant to follow God's word. We learn
- 2:30God's will in scripture. Then we pray
- 2:32until our hearts align with it. If our
- 2:34hands and our feet are ready to obey it.
- 2:36Prayer strengthens the spirit until the
- 2:39flesh no longer gets the final vote.
- 2:42Jesus didn't pray his way out of
- 2:43suffering. He prayed his way into
- 2:45obedience. Run today's play. Don't ask,
- 2:49did I pray? Ask, did my praying move me
- 2:52into obedience. Open God's word.
- 2:54Identify one command your flesh resist.
- 2:57Then pray unhurried. Until obedience is
- 3:00settled in your heart. Don't get up
- 3:03until your will is aligned with his.
- 3:06Today's win isn't feeling spiritual.
- 3:09It's walking obedient. If this huddle
- 3:11helps you know God better so you can
- 3:13obey him more, share it with a friend
- 3:15and write a quick note.
