- 3:13Speaker 1: First, I'm going to start off with the prayer and
- 3:15Speaker 1: then we're going to go straight into the devotion for
- 3:18Speaker 1: this morning, y'all. So, Father God, in the name of Jesus,
- 3:21Speaker 1: what I thank you for yet another day that was
- 3:23Speaker 1: not promised me. Lord God, thank you for another opportunity
- 3:25Speaker 1: that I can come before your people and share that
- 3:28Speaker 1: that you have placed within me. And Lord God Father,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I thank you right now for just what you're doing
- 3:31Speaker 1: in each and every one of our lives.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Well, God, I thank you for.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Another opportunity that we can impact lives, that we can
- 3:37Speaker 1: do something that we can get to do on Yesterday,
- 3:40Speaker 1: that we can walk into our destiny that we can
- 3:43Speaker 1: catch up with our destiny that you have already preordained
- 3:45Speaker 1: for us. So Father asked that you decrease me in
- 3:48Speaker 1: the flesh for God and allow your spirit man to
- 3:50Speaker 1: come forth and share that that you have placed on
- 3:52Speaker 1: my heart. On today, Lord God Father, I thank you
- 3:55Speaker 1: for every opportunity that we can share your goodness and
- 3:58Speaker 1: allow your glory to shine. And this is asking your
- 4:01Speaker 1: son Jesus name. Amen, Amen, Amen, this morning we are y'all.
- 4:06Speaker 1: We are day number twelve. We're day number twelve. In
- 4:12Speaker 1: today's lesson is hope in his promise it's going to
- 4:16Speaker 1: be coming out of Second Peter's Chapter three, verse number nine.
- 4:22Speaker 1: He says the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise,
- 4:25Speaker 1: as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you,
- 4:31Speaker 1: not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Again Second Peter's Chapter three, verse nine, it says the
- 4:41Speaker 1: Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some
- 4:45Speaker 1: understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting
- 4:50Speaker 1: anyone to perish, but everyone to come in repentnans y'all.
- 4:56Speaker 1: He want us to repent, turn from our wicked ways,
- 4:59Speaker 1: and turn to him so y'all, we're gonna jump on
- 5:01Speaker 1: in this lesson on this morning, and I hope you
- 5:04Speaker 1: guys will grab some nuggets and take it with you
- 5:07Speaker 1: on today. So again I have read our scripture for today.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Our affirmation for today is hold I hold hope in
- 5:18Speaker 1: the promises of God, hope and the promises of God.
- 5:23Speaker 1: The word of to day is long suffering, meaning God's patience,
- 5:27Speaker 1: long tempered restraints, and mercy even in the face of
- 5:33Speaker 1: delay provocation. As we see in Teco Peter's three and nine,
- 5:38Speaker 1: the word patient is the idea of God's choosing mercy
- 5:43Speaker 1: over immediate judgment so more people can turn to him.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Why it matters. God's timing is not tardiness, it is mercy.
- 5:53Speaker 1: His patience gives us hope, fuels our repentance, and shapes
- 5:58Speaker 1: how we treat others. A little backstory on tewod Peter
- 6:04Speaker 1: three and nine. Traditionally, Aver attributed to Apostle Peter, one
- 6:10Speaker 1: of Jesus' closest disciples, to address the believers who have
- 6:15Speaker 1: obtained who obtained a faith of equal standings, likely scattered
- 6:21Speaker 1: across Asia.
- 6:25Speaker 2: What was the message? It was a.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Pastoral letter confronting false teachers skol first, who marked the
- 6:34Speaker 1: promises of Christ's return and the reassurance of believers that
- 6:40Speaker 1: God's promised stand and He's seeming delay is purposeful. Know
- 6:46Speaker 1: that his seeming delay is purpose So when did this
- 6:50Speaker 1: take place? It took place around AD sixty four to
- 6:57Speaker 1: sixty eight AD. Comeonly dated near the end of Peter's life,
- 7:02Speaker 1: during a period of increasing persecution and confusion within the church.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Where did this take Where did this happen? Likely written
- 7:12Speaker 1: in Rome, where tradition holds Peter ministered and was martyred.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Peter countered the narrative that nothing is happening by lifting
- 7:27Speaker 1: believers eyes to God's characters, his faithfulness, his patience, and justice,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and cause the church to holy living while we wait.
- 7:41Speaker 2: God delay is mercy. It's not neglect.
- 7:45Speaker 1: What looks like slowness is God's heart making room for salvation.
- 7:55Speaker 1: He desired all his people to be saved. God's kindness
- 7:59Speaker 1: is meant to lead us to repentance. He hopes to
- 8:03Speaker 1: grow us when we see things through his mercy and
- 8:08Speaker 1: through his eyes. God's promises are anchored in his character.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Promises are only as strong as the one who speak them.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Hear that promises are only strong as the one who
- 8:24Speaker 1: speak them. God cannot lie, and he never changes. Hebrews
- 8:30Speaker 1: ten and twenty three he says, he who promised is faithful,
- 8:35Speaker 1: He who promised is faithful. He also tells us in
- 8:41Speaker 1: Corinthians one in twenty he say, all the promises of
- 8:44Speaker 1: God find their yes in Christ. All the promises of
- 8:48Speaker 1: God find there yes in Christ. Our hope is not
- 8:53Speaker 1: wishful thinking. It is settled trust in the faithful God.
- 8:58Speaker 1: We got to know that God is true. His word
- 9:00Speaker 1: is not going to return to us what and he
- 9:03Speaker 1: is yet faithful. He's going to do just what he
- 9:05Speaker 1: said he would do. Hope in his promises. It feels
- 9:12Speaker 1: a holy living and it helps us fulfill the missions
- 9:16Speaker 1: that He have us on. We didn't get dropped out
- 9:18Speaker 1: of the sky. Understand that waiting well looks like purity.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Purpose and proclamation two Peter three eleven and twelve is
- 9:28Speaker 1: say live holy in godly lives as you wait. That
- 9:33Speaker 1: mean you can't be y' all over the place doing
- 9:35Speaker 1: whatever you want to do, but you got to live holy.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You got to live a godly life. We gotta, we
- 9:41Speaker 1: gotta were not perfect, and we understand that we're not
- 9:45Speaker 1: perfect people, but he created us in his image.
- 9:49Speaker 2: So everything that we.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Do, y'all, it should point back to the one that
- 9:53Speaker 1: created us. It should bring God glory. Even though he's
- 9:58Speaker 1: told us that it's working together for are good, it
- 10:01Speaker 1: should bring him glory. That dash that we have. We
- 10:04Speaker 1: know that we have a birthday, and we know that
- 10:06Speaker 1: we're going to have an end date. We know that
- 10:07Speaker 1: one day we're gonna leave here. But have we done
- 10:10Speaker 1: the things that we're supposed to do while we have
- 10:12Speaker 1: the chance to do that? We are we living in
- 10:16Speaker 1: his image because he created us in his image, So
- 10:19Speaker 1: that means we are in his likeness, and that we're
- 10:22Speaker 1: in his likeness, that means that we are supposed to
- 10:24Speaker 1: be showing up and we're supposed to be exhibiting those things.
- 10:30Speaker 1: So are you Do you look like parity? Do you
- 10:34Speaker 1: look like purpose? Do you look like proclamation? Do you
- 10:39Speaker 1: look like those things that He has spoken over our lives?
- 10:44Speaker 1: How are you living up to him today? Are you
- 10:47Speaker 1: living a holy life? Are you living godly?
- 10:50Speaker 2: While you wait?
- 10:53Speaker 1: Because a lot of us, we say we're waiting for
- 10:56Speaker 1: this to happen. We're waiting for this to happen. We
- 10:57Speaker 1: want to get right before we go to church with
- 10:59Speaker 1: Guess what, You're never going to be right because we
- 11:02Speaker 1: are not perfect people. We got to understand that expectation
- 11:07Speaker 1: shapes efforts. Hope makes us steady, shining and active. You
- 11:14Speaker 1: woke up this morning, that means he extended his grace
- 11:18Speaker 1: and his mercy. He gave you another chance. So that
- 11:21Speaker 1: means that you have hope to be able to do
- 11:24Speaker 1: something that He's called and purpose you to do in
- 11:27Speaker 1: this day. Because we're not promised tomorrow, so today we
- 11:31Speaker 1: should focus on today the things that we're supposed to
- 11:34Speaker 1: be doing in today. Are you impacting lives today? Are
- 11:39Speaker 1: you trusting him today? Are you walking in faith on today?
- 11:47Speaker 1: And are you doing the work behind that faith so
- 11:50Speaker 1: that it can manifest in your life? So how can
- 11:56Speaker 1: we apply this to our life? How can we apply
- 12:00Speaker 1: this scripture to our life? How can we apply that
- 12:04Speaker 1: we are to keep his promise and that we're to
- 12:07Speaker 1: wait on his world?
- 12:08Speaker 2: So first.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We got an nercy for the not yet? So how
- 12:14Speaker 1: do we do that?
- 12:17Speaker 2: First?
- 12:18Speaker 1: You can write down three people who haven't turned to Christ.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Do you know three people that that that that need
- 12:26Speaker 1: to that need to turn to Christ? That has not
- 12:29Speaker 1: accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior. Have do you
- 12:35Speaker 1: know three people that could could strengthen their walk with Christ.
- 12:43Speaker 1: We must align with God patient heart, participating in his
- 12:48Speaker 1: promise and keeping it. That means every morning you should
- 12:54Speaker 1: be spending time with Him before you go out and
- 12:56Speaker 1: conquer this world.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Because guess what, if we're.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Putting something in us, then when we face challenges, when
- 13:05Speaker 1: when disappointment, when let downs, when when all these things
- 13:09Speaker 1: come at us, y'all, we have something that we can
- 13:12Speaker 1: give back, something that we can apply, something that we
- 13:15Speaker 1: can speak over our life. Because He's told us over
- 13:18Speaker 1: and over Proverbs eighteen and twenty one, I think eighteen
- 13:21Speaker 1: and sixteen over there in Proverbs, he's told us that
- 13:25Speaker 1: we have the power to speak life or death. I
- 13:29Speaker 1: choose to speak life because I choose to allow these
- 13:33Speaker 1: bones to live, because I know that there's something that
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be doing.
- 13:38Speaker 2: He woke me up this morning.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It wasn't a coincidence, it wasn't an accident. He purposely
- 13:43Speaker 1: woke me up this morning because he had a plan
- 13:46Speaker 1: for me to do something in this day. Just like you, you,
- 13:50Speaker 1: you and everyone that will see this, Whether they're seeing
- 13:53Speaker 1: it live or they're seeing it as a replay. Know
- 13:56Speaker 1: that it's not a coat an incident. It's not an accident.
- 13:59Speaker 1: It's not that happenstance. It was strategically ordain before the
- 14:05Speaker 1: creation of time, before you were even thought of, before
- 14:08Speaker 1: you were even conceived in your mother's womb. He knew
- 14:11Speaker 1: that this day would be this day. He knew that
- 14:13Speaker 1: I would be on this podcast. He knew that I
- 14:15Speaker 1: would be sharing his word. He knew that I would
- 14:17Speaker 1: have this book. He knew everything about me. He even
- 14:22Speaker 1: know the things that I'm gonna do tomorrow, the next day,
- 14:24Speaker 1: to day after until he take me from this place.
- 14:30Speaker 1: But will I humble myself? Will I allow myself to
- 14:33Speaker 1: walk into those things? So I asked you today, I
- 14:39Speaker 1: ask you today, are you aligning with those things that
- 14:44Speaker 1: He's purpose for you? Do you know your purpose? You
- 14:52Speaker 1: gotta practice the promises of anchored in obedience. He's given
- 14:58Speaker 1: us the Bible, that is the basic instructions before leaving Earth.
- 15:04Speaker 2: And if you read through.
- 15:05Speaker 1: There, everything that has happened in the Bible, y'all, it's
- 15:09Speaker 1: gonna happen, and it's happening in our life. If it
- 15:12Speaker 1: happened happening in our life. It's happened before us, It's
- 15:14Speaker 1: gonna happen again. It's just a repeat. There's nothing new
- 15:19Speaker 1: under the sun. We may be just seeing it in
- 15:22Speaker 1: a different, different, different way because as the world evolved,
- 15:29Speaker 1: we are evolving, and we can look back at how
- 15:34Speaker 1: the world is evolving and understand that.
- 15:38Speaker 2: It's not changing.
- 15:39Speaker 1: We may not see people walking on water, but God
- 15:42Speaker 1: is still fulfilling miracles. He is still sitting on the throne,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and he's still moving in our lives. You see individuals
- 15:50Speaker 1: that have been delivered and set free from drug addiction.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You see people that have been released from prison. You
- 15:55Speaker 1: see people that have been delivered from from from from
- 15:58Speaker 1: all kinds of things, that have been set free from cancer,
- 16:00Speaker 1: that have survived strokes, that have survived different things. That
- 16:07Speaker 1: He might not be raising people literally how we like
- 16:11Speaker 1: he did latter risks, but just think people are having strokes, people.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Are or are are.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Going being put on incubators and being put on life
- 16:23Speaker 1: support machines, and then you see them come back alife.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I remember when I received that phone call telling me
- 16:32Speaker 1: that that found my brother, my oldest brother, on side
- 16:37Speaker 1: of the road, that someone had left him to die.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And when we went to when I finally got to
- 16:48Speaker 1: the hospital to see him, because I was in another state.
- 16:51Speaker 1: But when I finally got to the hospital to see him,
- 16:55Speaker 1: the doctors were prepared me and they told me. They said, well,
- 17:01Speaker 1: with the mint of things that my brother had endured,
- 17:03Speaker 1: the things that he went through and suffered through, they
- 17:08Speaker 1: had to put him in a induced coma. And they said,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and when when he wake up, and if he woke up,
- 17:16Speaker 1: that he may be a vegetable, that he may not
- 17:18Speaker 1: know nobody, He may not you may not.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Be able to understand what he's saying. Well, I waited.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I think it was three days before I finally decided
- 17:30Speaker 1: to come home, go home to South Carolina and visit
- 17:34Speaker 1: with my brother. When I did, he had woke up.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And that day I walked into the room. You know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: everybody had prepared me. They told me they couldn't understand
- 17:47Speaker 1: what he was saying. But when I walked in that room,
- 17:52Speaker 1: my brother always called me.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Big head.
- 17:56Speaker 1: He called me by the head because he always he said,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I had my head and I had body, because y'all,
- 18:01Speaker 1: at that time, I think I may have been in
- 18:03Speaker 1: sized twelve and my head is still the same size
- 18:08Speaker 1: that I think I may have been a size twelve
- 18:10Speaker 1: at that time, so my head was a little bit,
- 18:13Speaker 1: but that was the nickname that he had for me.
- 18:16Speaker 1: My brother knew who I was. When they said that
- 18:20Speaker 1: he wasn't gonna be able to speak, that he may
- 18:22Speaker 1: not recognize me. All those things that they said he
- 18:25Speaker 1: was not gonna be able to do, he did. And
- 18:28Speaker 1: that was a miracle inside itself. So when we're looking
- 18:32Speaker 1: for men walking on water and we're looking for God
- 18:37Speaker 1: to raise people from the dead like Lattis, that is
- 18:40Speaker 1: that may not be happening in our time, but He's
- 18:43Speaker 1: yet performing miracles. We have a prayer call that we've
- 18:48Speaker 1: been on for the last six years. I've watched people
- 18:51Speaker 1: set free from cancer. I've seen people hear from diabetes,
- 18:57Speaker 1: people suffering with loopers, people that have had strokes cover.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So God is still yet performing. He is yet performing miracles.
- 19:06Speaker 1: We just have to hold on to his word and
- 19:08Speaker 1: be anchored in his promises, and we have to be
- 19:11Speaker 1: obedient while we're doing that. Be obedient while we're doing that.
- 19:16Speaker 1: So understanding that God delayed is mercy. Not neglect what
- 19:22Speaker 1: looks like slowness to God's heart making room for salvation.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Hope grows when we see time.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Through God's merciful leans.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Understand that the promises are only as strong as the
- 19:38Speaker 1: one who speak them. God cannot lie and will never change.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Understand that we got to understand how to anecede for
- 19:50Speaker 1: the things that have not yet come. If you know
- 19:54Speaker 1: your purpose and you know what God has spoken to
- 19:56Speaker 1: your heart, you have to pray over those things so
- 19:59Speaker 1: that can manifest in your life.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Do the work behind it.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Align with God's patient art. Practice is promise keeping practice
- 20:08Speaker 1: those promises in the Bible. All you got to do
- 20:10Speaker 1: is pick it up. He's told us so many promises
- 20:14Speaker 1: that he wanted to do for us. Our action should choose,
- 20:20Speaker 1: Our actions should speak. We should take on these commandments
- 20:24Speaker 1: and obey them. Forgive, serve, give, speak again, forgive, serve, give,
- 20:33Speaker 1: speak truth, and do it because he is faithful, not
- 20:37Speaker 1: because it feels easy, but because we know that He
- 20:42Speaker 1: is faithful. Obedience is how we hold hope with our hands.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Being obedient is how we hold hope with our hands.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Refrain from time line by God's time. We got to
- 21:00Speaker 1: stop putting time limits on stuff and know that whenever
- 21:04Speaker 1: you feel delayed in your career, healing, reconciliation, whatever, write
- 21:09Speaker 1: it down, and then next to it, write down wait
- 21:14Speaker 1: for the Lord, and then pray this prayer. Go over
- 21:18Speaker 1: to Psalms twenty seven and fourteen and pray. Go to
- 21:23Speaker 1: Habacco two and three and pray, and then go to
- 21:27Speaker 1: Proverbs three, five and six and pray. Y'all got to
- 21:30Speaker 1: learn how to you see scriptures and speak these scriptures
