- 0:28past four years. The Mets were managed by Gil Hodges who were coming off their miracle season
- 0:33in 1969. They were in third place in the National League East right behind the Chicago Cubs.
- 0:38This audio recording is from the Mets radio broadcast featuring announcers Lindsay Nelson,

- 1:27And so the starting pitchers here tonight for the New York Cubs right hander Gary Chistry
- 1:32for the Chicago Cubs left hander Ken Holtzman.
- 1:38On a pleasant night for baseball, New York Mets get his set to play their last series
- 1:44of the season. The Mets with a record of 81 wins and 77 losses. The Cubs have won 82 and
- 1:50lost 76. The Mets one game back of the Cubs and the Mets will have to win three out of
- 1:55four to tie the Cubs for second place. The difference for each player will be approximately
- 2:01$5 or $600. The difference is finishing second or finishing third in the Eastern Division.
- 2:11Here at Shade State in the Cubs have won four of the six ball games played while the Mets
- 2:17hold the overall record of nine wins against five losses against Chicago.
- 2:23Now as the shortstop John Kessinger comes to the bat as Vox here for the play by play
- 2:28by the Mets. Thank you very much for having me on. Hello everybody, I'm Kessinger, switch hitting
- 2:33shortstop the National League All-Star. Shortstop is hitting 269 for the year he has one home run
- 2:39and 38 runs batted in. He's facing Gary Gentry who has a record of nine wins and nine losses.
- 2:46Joe Floyd, third moves in on the edge of the grass. Gary Grote sends out the time for the
- 2:51first pitch of the ball game and it's on the way, high and away for ball one.
- 2:56Gary stands out the captain on third base but if you can't go comes he's not in the line
- 3:01up here tonight he's running a temperature. Here's the pitch that is in the block off
- 3:06and now he hates you. He was posted in the line up initially for the New York Mets here
- 3:10tonight but he was your mood when it was discovered he also was running a temperature. Here's a
- 3:14swing out of five balls in the center of Leroy Stanton moves over and Stanton makes the
- 3:19difference. So Kessinger at five to center, Glenn Becker's coming up. Becker's hitting 292
- 3:28he has three almost in 37 runs batted in. Second place is still in the balance here
- 3:34it would not score that back if the final order of finish had already been determined
- 3:40here to pitch outside. Then we would see all sorts of young ball players in these line-ups
- 3:45but both batted just are keeping the veterans in in an effort to medial down second place.
- 3:50That's a pitch going for a call strike it's one and one. Waiting on deck is Philly Williams.
- 3:59Gantry offers a one-one pitch, one run and punches the first base out of Lyons-Lives
- 4:04that aren't blended on its first base. A cross-liner just punched out here by Glenn Becker who reached
- 4:09across the line. Philly Williams is coming up third leading batter in the National League.
- 4:15Williams is hitting 326 he has 42 home runs and 129 runs batted in. It's been a great great year for
- 4:23Philly Williams left hand batter. That's in for a call strike. Still in an odd nobody on base.
- 4:33Tommy Davis a former veteran swinging about on deck now for the Chicago Cubs.
- 4:40That time away it's a call it's one and one. The Chicago Cubs are in second place by virtue of having
- 4:52won yesterday while the rest of the losing. Here's a case of a run and miss it's one and two.
- 4:59On the coaching lines it's Tina Flowery at third for the Cubs enjoy your mouth for town-o.
- 5:04It's on the lines at first base. There's a one-two delivery.
- 5:08It's on the ground and a second base it's taken by Wayne Garrett on the off field grass.
- 5:13He goes to play on an in-time and the side is reclined. Nothing across and the middle of the first
- 5:19score is the Cubs nothing and the Mets coming to bat. Now on the bottom of the first inning
- 5:23it's left handed Kenny Holspen to pitch for the Chicago Cubs. He has a record of 17 wins and 11 losses.
- 5:29Kenny Holspen against the Mets this year has won none and lost two his lifetime record against them.
- 5:35It's four wins and eight losses and Lee Roy Stanton is coming up. He's been most of these season at
- 5:41the side water in the international league. The Mets typically farms up.
- 5:49He's been up three times since he was brought up at the closing season without a yes.
- 5:54He's the right hand batter. Lee Roy Stanton.
- 6:03Holspen delivers this first pitch and it's going away.
- 6:07Going all the way back off the ground with a humbly. On the coaching lines it's going to have 80 yoses at third
- 6:12and Yogi Farah is the coaching first.
- 6:16It's a full night here at J City.
- 6:20Pleasantly cool. Here's the one-oh-delivery.
- 6:24Going on it in the air and a deep right field way back. Going back to City with us to the track and he's got the ball
- 6:30down to the second base. He's got his way to third. His second three lay across the down.
- 6:35Danches face to third as the ball hits him in the head. He is switched out now on his back across the back.
- 6:43The relay from Becker took a hop and hit Stanton in the head. He had lost the helmet on the spread
- 6:50so he was hit on the bare head.
- 6:52Benner Tom Machiner is out to see about him now and here comes Jill Hodges.
- 6:56He hasn't hit that ball way back out in right. Billy Williams went across the warning track, got to the wall
- 7:03and his hands on the ball but dropped it.
- 7:06And so Stanton was already approaching second. He came on to third and Becker took the relay from Williams
- 7:12and the ball took one hop and hit Stanton in the head.
- 7:20That will bring up Wayne Garrett. He's scored as a triple for Learoy Stanton. A triple.
- 7:27He is still being attended.
- 7:39The Learoy Stanton has cast his first Major League Base hit, a three-backer.
- 7:51The Learoy Stanton has been on the ball for a long time.
- 7:58The Learoy Stanton has been on the ball for a long time.
- 8:07Leon Jones, Yogi Berra, Don Glendenen have all gone there to see about the condition of Stanton.
- 8:15He started the ball again in place of Tommy Asche. After Asche he had been examined by Metzine's position.
- 8:22Dr. Peter Lamato determined that he was running at temperature and suggested that he be pulled out of the lineup.
- 8:36Let's see the Cubs will be here again tomorrow afternoon.
- 8:39That was tomorrow night. I'll take you for a night game on Tuesday night. Tomorrow night. A stretcher is being brought out now.
- 8:46The ground is going to bring out a stretcher.
- 8:55The Learoy Stanton was sliding into the bag. The ball hit him as he dipped into the slide. Having arrived at the bag, he then keeled over.
- 9:09He is now getting to his feet. The stretcher is going to be taken off.
- 9:15Leon Jones, Unused. Glendenen has a towel there. He is breaking Stanton off.
- 9:25Yogi starts back to the dugout. He turns and looks back over his shoulder.
- 9:29The trainer is leading Stanton off to the field.
- 9:48He is walking off under his own power.
- 9:51The trainer is holding in firmly by the left arm and Rod Gaspard is coming out to replace him.
- 10:00Rod Gaspard replaces Learoy Stanton with a triple and leaves again.
- 10:13Wayne Garrett is coming up.
- 10:21We are in the bottom of the first inning. No score.
- 10:24Runner at third. Nobody out for the next. Wayne Garrett is playing second base tonight.
- 10:28Hitting 252.11. Homer is in 41 runs by the den. Left hand pitcher facing him. Inside for a ball.
- 10:47Garrett has scored 30 runs in his last 31 games.
- 10:53He takes the 1-0 delivery. It is 2-0. Leon Jones is swinging about out there on death.
- 11:04Wayne Garrett is at the plate and his older brother Adrian Garrett is playing third base for the Chicago Cubs.
- 11:15Adrian Garrett was at one time with the New York Mets in spring training.
- 11:24Benidigit is at third base in place of Ron Santo for the Chicago Cubs. With an eye on young brother Wayne Garrett who has a 2-0 count.
- 11:45The Mets with a record of 81 wins and 77 losses. The Cubs have won 82. Lost 76. They are one game ahead of the Mets.
- 11:54Three-0 pitch. He is taking it in there. Call strike. Three and one.
- 11:58This is the same on-piring crew that works the Pittsburgh New York series. Just completed in Pittsburgh.
- 12:04It is a hand-picked on-piring crew put together for the crucial series here at the finish of the season. Inside a walk.
- 12:15Garrett goes to first. Gaster running for Stanton as a third and Leon Jones is coming up.
- 12:22He is hitting 270. He has 10 homers and 63 runs back at end. The Cubs are playing an infield of Jim Hickman at first base.
- 12:38Then back at it's second. Don Chestinger at short. Adrian Garrett at third. Tommy Davis is in left. Joe Puppeton is in center. Billy Williams is around in right.
- 12:55Oldsman in the left-handed with a pitch to Jones. And it's in there for a call strike.
- 13:09It's very powerful. They are not playing tonight. They moved to Stanton for three games. Here's Close. Here's Stanton. He is playing a ground ball to Deepstor. Chestinger up. Goes to back at it's one. Go to first. A double play and a run score.
- 13:24Leon Jones has hit into yet another double play. By the way, this year he has set a Mets club record. Boiding into double plays. No run batted in there.
- 13:35The Mets go out and fought by a score of one another. John Quendon is coming up. Quendon has had 93 runs batted in this year. The Mets club record is 94. Set by Frank Thomas in 1962.
- 13:51Pitch to the right-hand batters. He keeps the right field. Moving over to Billy Williams. He ends up in the track and makes a catch. The side is out. One run. On one hit a walk. No errors.
- 14:05At the end of an inning the score is the New York Mets one and the Chicago Cubs. Nothing.
- 14:20Well keep in mind that the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs will be meeting here again tomorrow night. It's going to be Jerry Cruzman pitching for the New York Mets against Mill Pappas of the Chicago Cubs.
- 14:32Then there will be a Wednesday afternoon game here between the Mets and the clubs. Then comes Thursday night. That is the season finale. Here is Shays. The final game of the year from the New York Mets. It's fan appreciation night as well.
- 14:44Now it will be an early start. The game will start at 7.05. 7.05 PM is the starting time on Thursday night for the finale between the New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs.
- 14:56Here is Shays. He is in the battle for second place. And the standings have the National Division. Houston Division.
- 15:27Wide gas first. He stays in the ballgame for the Mets and center field. Now Tommy Davis is coming up. Tommy Davis is coming up for the Chicago Cubs.
- 15:44As if it's as low for a ball. Tommy Davis. And the pitch in there for a call strike. It's 1-1.
- 16:07This is swinging his right foul down the left field line and out of play. It's 1-2 out of Tommy Davis. He's hitting 2-80. He has 4 almost in 35 runs batted in.
- 16:25The third baseman here tonight is Paul Popovich. Paul Popovich. There will be batting number 7 in the batting order. Here is the 1-2 pitch and it's going away for a ball. It's 2-2. Jim Hickman leaning on the bat in the on-deck circle.
- 16:45And the 2-2 delivery. Fire it outside. It's 3-2 to Tommy Davis. Gary Gentry. Here is the Mets pitcher. He's 1-1 in the last one.
- 17:06Gary Fires high and walks Tommy Davis. So Davis goes to first place and is Jim Hickman coming up. Hickman is hitting 3-17. He has 32 almost in 115 runs batted in.
- 17:28What a year Jim Hickman has had for the Chicago Cup. Breaking pitch going away as Leo DeRosha said at one point during the course of the season there were many occasions when Jim Hickman cares this clever on his back and did he ever.
- 17:46There's nobody out. Davis leaves it first. 1-0 pitch and it's 2-2 on the ground. Joe Foyer has it. He goes to Wayne Garrett. There's 1-2 to 1st double play. A 5-4-3 double play pulled off for the Mets.
- 18:00Joe Foyer at Wayne Garrett. He's on clean. There's a 5-4-3 double play pulled off. Nobody on base and Joe Peppercorn is coming up. Peppercorn is hitting 360. He has 25-17.
- 18:20No Peppercorn. He has the next reading here in today's study. One time outfield in first place in the New York Yankees. Kennedy Houston Astros.
- 18:30Kennedy Chicago Cup. That's just high for a ball. And the season series between these two games and that's at 1-9 and the Cubs at 1-5.
- 18:46This game is a make-up of a game previously reigned out in Chicago. Here's a clean as well. Austin out of play. We see for the play-dumpter who is at Vargo. All Popovich, the third baseman is on deck. All Popovich. A switch hitter.
- 19:04But not Garrett at third as we've been previously reported. The pop of it. In place of Sanchez. Here's a 1-1 delivery. 6-1-5-1. All out of play.
- 19:241-2 now to Peppercorn. Adrian Garrett is here. He's with the Chicago Cubs. But he's not in the lineup. It is Popovich. He's playing third base and plays Sanchez. He'll catch it.
- 19:381-2 is the count now. And the pitch. Low for Ball. It's 2-2.
- 19:581-2-2. 2-2 pitch. 1-5-1. Good out of play. Low on the count hole. That's two balls and two strikes. And that's your leading here by a scorer 1-9.
- 20:12If they can pull off a victory they will move into a flat-footed tie with the Chicago Cubs. And they'd have three games to play to determine who's going to move in the series.
- 20:22He took so much off of that that he had to have a dunk way out in. He just barely managed to do. Copping Shook and get the ball.
- 20:32Low on. No it shouldn't go.
- 20:422-2 delivery. Fastball high on the way and it's got four 3-balls and two strikes.
- 20:56Here's the playoff pitch. Down off and out of play. Might have been out of the strike zone. The count remains full.
- 21:06Everton is back in and waiting.
- 21:24Here's the playoff pitch. It's going on and on the ground. G-first big off the climb down and he races to the back unassisted. And the start is restart.
- 21:40And the Cubs nothing. That's your leading 1-0 and Ron's for a vote. A right hand batting right-sealer is up to lead off.
- 21:55And it's low for the ball. 1-0. Joe Foy is now on deck.
- 22:11And a base hit. Ron first on his way to second. Bobby Davis up on the ball. Raising him to third at second.
- 22:27So, Ron Flavotta has up and up with a ground double.
- 22:30Over the bag is third and Joe Foy will be the batter for the next.
- 22:34Hitting 239, he has six almost and 37 runs by the next.
- 22:38By the way, if you're thinking of starting up a savings or checking it out,
- 22:41drop into any convenience chase man at the right.
- 22:44Remember, you've got a friend of Chase man at member FDIC.
- 23:00All pop of it, you're third dive for that ground ball, it was between him and the bag.
- 23:04Here's a clean across, just a little passenger one hand,
- 23:07plays the first in times, will both of moves over to third on the infeel on.
- 23:11He's a passenger, moves swiftly to his left and with a thrust of the glove came up,
- 23:15through on the first and down to get point.
- 23:18So now the Mets have a run or a third with one man up and Jerry Gode is up.
- 23:28Gode is a right hand batting catcher, he's hitting 257, he has two home runs and 34 runs by the next.
- 23:37Make the look down at the time man, 80 yokes at third base.
- 23:51He's going to swing the ball all back and out of play.
- 23:53We have a report now from the Mets glove house on the condition of Lee Roy Seth,
- 23:57a Mets outfielder who was hit on the head by a thrown ball in the first inning.
- 24:03Dr. Peter Lamotte has examined that man in the glove house
- 24:06and he is reported to be resting and OK.
- 24:12We have 5-1 fish to go to, the clubs have the infeel down,
- 24:15decided to choke out the run into place.
- 24:18At low for ball, it's one and one.
- 24:25It's going to be a one-one delivery.
- 24:35It's going to be an open, taking a side from Randy Hadley and the fish is on the way.
- 24:41It's high on the way for two balls and one strike.
- 24:58It's going to be a one-one delivery.

- 39:00Williams is currently tied at his own one-season career high with 203 hits.
- 39:07He did that back in 1965.
- 39:09And the first pitch by Gentry, high on outside ball one.
- 39:18Williams needs only three more hits to have 1,000.
- 39:23Here's a ground ball down to Crenvenon.
- 39:26He fights it and comes up with it, rolls over to Gentry covering it first to the out.
- 39:30Good play by Crenvenon as he battled that ball, went down to one knee and came up with it.
- 39:37So it's two away and it brings up Tommy Davis.
- 39:41Tommy walked his first time up.
- 39:46He has two ready for the season. He has four home runs, 35RBI.
- 39:56Tommy Davis, right hand batter.
- 40:01Gentry's pitch, that's Roll and Davis with a hard-fling midfielder strike one.
- 40:07Met's lady won nothing.
- 40:11He's out, top of the fourth inning.
- 40:19One strike, pass ball fouled back.
- 40:24He's a down strike here.
- 40:33Williams had to finish on the road this year, 14 games. They have one five and lost five with four more to go here today.
- 40:41Here's a two strike mid, just rolling the count one and two.
- 40:47They opened up a Montreal, won three out of four, then went to St. Louis, won one out of three.
- 40:55Breaking ball outside, they got two balls and two strikes.
- 40:59They rolled off here, they won one out of three.
- 41:08Two balls, two strikes. Gary Gentry working with Tommy Davis. Then the pitch.
- 41:13It is lying away to base pitch.
- 41:17The ones with the ball in the right field and the comes with the time run at first base with two men away and Jim Equin coming up.
- 41:25Second hit off Gary Gentry.

- 41:31Ron into his third baseman, Joe Ford.
- 41:35Jim, riding from the right hand side, has 32 home runs, 115 RBIs and an average of 370.
- 41:43And the pitch, breaking ball in the third ball one.
- 41:51Jim Equin's biggest moment as a New York Mets player was when he had three home runs and one ball game in St. Louis, Cardinal.
- 42:11Now the one open, breaking ball down low, two balls, no strike.
- 42:17San Francisco did not score in the top of the first inning. They're playing at Houston.
- 42:23Houston now coming up.
- 42:33San Francisco are game up from the Dodgers fighting for second play.
- 42:35Here's a ground ball down toward short, cut off by Floyd.
- 42:39That's where the second base, Wayne Garrett in time for the fourth play to retire on the side.

- 1:15:01Oli had gone around and came to a skidding halt.
- 1:15:04He had went diving back in the second.
- 1:15:07The only thing that saved him was the fact that the Cubs were unaware he was coming back.

- 1:15:14He went by and diving back in.
- 1:15:16The Cubs were sure that he had gone out in the third base.

- 1:16:03It was just a second.
- 1:16:05It was covering second.
- 1:16:06He didn't know he was coming back and belatedly made a tag.

- 1:16:4286-70s this year.
- 1:16:43Doug McGraw has allowed 76-86.
- 1:16:47He had his problems the first half of the year,
- 1:16:49but has been a very strong relief as you're down the stretch.
- 1:16:55Twisted-air ball pop of it will lead off against Doug McGraw
- 1:16:58as we go to the seventh inning.
- 1:17:00Let's continue to hit into hard luck.

- 1:17:0786-70s this year.
- 1:17:08Doug McGraw has allowed 76-86.
- 1:17:12He had his problems the first half of the year,
- 1:17:14but has been a very strong relief as you're down the stretch.
- 1:17:20Twisted-air ball pop of it will lead off against Doug McGraw
- 1:17:23as we go to the seventh inning.

- 1:17:40Doug's leading on a three run homer hit by Tommy Davis.
- 1:17:53Houston leading a stand for the first go three-nothing
- 1:17:55in the fourth inning.
- 1:17:57Giants and Dodgers have a similar battle going for second place
- 1:18:00in the Western division of the National League.
- 1:18:03Giants at the moment lead the Dodgers by one game.
- 1:18:06Giants have had a very good
- 1:18:09second half of the year after a very bad first half.
- 1:18:16Ball pop of it has singled a center
- 1:18:18and bounced back to Douglas.
- 1:18:19Lyndon won for two.
- 1:18:25One day in and the major leagues this afternoon,
- 1:18:28Minnesota, blank Kansas City, won the nothing.
- 1:18:31At a towering top up is fouled on the first base line.
- 1:18:35Lyndon on the coaching lines,
- 1:18:37put it away for the off.
- 1:18:42One pitch by Doug McGraw, he retires five of it
- 1:18:44and it brings up Randy Hunley.
- 1:18:46Catcher Randy Hunley has flagged the center
- 1:18:49and drawn a walk.
- 1:18:51One out and nobody on in the top half of the seventh.
- 1:19:07It's by Doug McGraw, inside and low, one ball and no strike.
- 1:19:14Whether wise it has been a very comfortable evening,
- 1:19:17it has not been too cool.
- 1:19:19And the one-oh delivery,
- 1:19:21fast ball off the outside corner,
- 1:19:23two balls and no strikes.
- 1:19:25Kenny Holtsman is scheduled at next.
- 1:19:28Holtsman at the age of 24 already has had two 17 game seasons.
- 1:19:33At a tie, he lays off three and 0.
- 1:19:54This is over for a ball, strike is three and 1.
- 1:19:57Right hander Joe Decker and another right hander,
- 1:20:03Big Jim Donegan warming up in the Cup Bullpen.
- 1:20:06At a foul, at the end of the bat, up into the crowd,
- 1:20:09it's three and two now on Randy Hunley.
- 1:20:13Fishing the second means at least $1,500 a man,
- 1:20:18it could mean more.
- 1:20:20It could be up to $5,000, about $2,400 a man.
- 1:20:23All down three and two on Randy Hunley.
- 1:20:28The payoff that's climbed the draw, strike three ball.
- 1:20:31Good fast ball over the inside corner.
- 1:20:38Two outs and nobody on and then Holtsman will be hitting.
- 1:20:42He has been out trying to front when he popped up to Glen Denon
- 1:20:46and he hit a pop light about Hells.
- 1:20:49He must work on Kenny Holtsman,
- 1:20:51he has some talent as a hitter and he has 21 base hits this year.
- 1:20:59On the inside corner, strike one.
- 1:21:01Without research, you get to be accurate.
- 1:21:03But as a guess, I would say you can count on your two hands.
- 1:21:06The number of pitchers in the National League
- 1:21:08with over 20 hits this year, swinging out of it.
- 1:21:14Bob Gibson of the Cardinals certainly has been
- 1:21:16the best hitting pitcher in the league this season.
- 1:21:21Two strike delivery by Doug.
- 1:21:23At a pop foul, down the left of your line,
- 1:21:25it will be out of play into the crowd.
- 1:21:37Last time we looked,
- 1:21:39Bob Gibson and St. Louis already had some 33 base hits.
- 1:21:52Two strike count on Kenny Holtsman,
- 1:21:54the pitch by McGraw, high on the way.
- 1:21:56One ball, two strikes.
- 1:22:06Pitching one and two.
- 1:22:08Change of bounce foul,
- 1:22:10back toward the on-deck center, occupied by John Kessinger.
- 1:22:14So it's one and two on the Cub pitcher, Kenny Holtsman.
- 1:22:17Cub's leading 3-1, they got three on one swing to the bat
- 1:22:20and the sixth inning when Davis cracked a three-run homer.
- 1:22:25Home run by Tommy Davis,
- 1:22:27with a lion drive over the auxiliary scoreboard
- 1:22:29and up into the lower section left field.
- 1:22:32Just a little bit lower.
- 1:22:34Two balls and two strikes.
- 1:22:42Lost the most win tonight.
- 1:22:44They will be in a position of needing to sweep the remaining three games.
- 1:22:51The 2-2 pitch by McGraw, way inside,
- 1:22:54he made him wiggle, the count goes full, three and two.
- 1:23:083-2 delivery, swung in as frankly.
- 1:23:11Tom McGraw comes on to get the Cub's in on it.
- 1:23:14No runs, no hits, no errors, none left.
- 1:23:17The 7-putting stretch time in the middle of the 7-putting.
- 1:23:21The Chicago Cub's three, the New York Mets one.
- 1:23:26A night game with the Cub's tomorrow night and afternoon game on Wednesday.
- 1:23:30The last game of the season, Thursday night is 7-0-5 p.m.

- 1:23:42The Mets will give everyone who attends the Thursday night game
- 1:23:45and attract these February's three.
- 1:23:47Complete with colorful Mets posters.
- 1:23:49They will prove mighty useful around the house, I'm sure.
- 1:23:53Things like yep, that every Mets fan will enjoy having.
- 1:23:56So plan to be on hand, fan appreciation day.
- 1:23:58Thursday night with the Mets close out against Chicago, game time 7-0-5.
- 1:24:03And Don Glenn Dunn will be up against Jimmy Olsman in the last half of the 7.
- 1:24:15Don Glenn Dunn, Ron Sloboda and Joe Foy will bat in the last half of the 7.
- 1:24:18Proud and better than 22,000 standing down for the 7-putting stretch.
- 1:24:22The Mets will give everyone who attends the Thursday night game a chance to play the game.
- 1:24:46Joe Foy is now playing for his base.

- 1:25:23Will Peppetone is playing for his base.
- 1:25:27Glenn Dunn has tried to deep right and Don's about to third, nothing for two.
- 1:25:33Mets have not been able to get their hitting attack going at least.
- 1:25:37Pitch back any Olsman that's playing no straight line.
- 1:25:50Here's the pitcher on the way taking up by one ball and one strike.
- 1:26:01Mets score their only run in the first inning.
- 1:26:04That's the result of a triple by Leroy Stanton.
- 1:26:10Olsman out of his wind-up, here's the pitch, it off the end of the bat.
- 1:26:13Now it's one ball and two strikes.
- 1:26:17The first inning Leroy Stanton tripled a deep right off the glove of Billy Williams up against the wall.
- 1:26:24The relay throw struck Leroy in the back of the head and he was forced to leave the ballgame.
- 1:26:29Gaspard came in.
- 1:26:31Gaspard scored as Cleon Jones hit into a double play following a walk to Wing Garrett.
- 1:26:38The one-two delivery, swing, head and Mets, then three.
- 1:26:46Mets' defender Ken Olsman, his third strike out of the game.

- 1:27:17Old Billy here tonight watching the ballgame with John Hodges.
- 1:27:38And the pitch on the way, last ball outside, two balls and no strikes.
- 1:27:52Two-oh delivery.
- 1:27:54This is the inside corner ball, three for another.
- 1:27:58Mets leaves the Cubs in the season series, nine games to five.
- 1:28:03They won seven out of eight at Rigley Field this year, one game was rained out.
- 1:28:07Los Chicago has had the advantage here in New York winning four of six plays.

- 1:28:55The fourth strikeout, Bill Foy has been up twice, fast and short and struck out.
- 1:29:17And the center's pitch on the way, breaking ball inside, one ball and no strikes.
- 1:29:32On the outside corner, the knees, one and one.
- 1:29:43The Cubs in front, three to one.
- 1:29:48And a swing and a miss, a curve ball, a striking curve ball by Kenny Olsman.
- 1:29:51One ball and two strikes.
- 1:29:53Olsman is trying for his 18th win here this evening.
- 1:30:02Jerry Grootie waiting his turn in the undexed.
- 1:30:08And a pitch, fastball strike three and a problem done.
- 1:30:13Kenny Olsman is struck out only two over the first six innings, struck out the side.
- 1:30:19No runs, no hits, no errors and none left.
- 1:30:22At the end of seven, the Chicago Cubs three, but New York lets one.
- 1:30:30In the evening, Don Kessinger faces Ted McGraw.
- 1:30:35First strikeout, Don Kessinger has twice flat, the center has drawn a walk.
- 1:30:47McGraw getting his hands on Jerry Grootie.
- 1:30:50He's flying straight away, Don Kessinger, he's batting right in.
- 1:30:54And the grounder back to the bound, staffed by McGraw, he reaches over his head, throws the glimpses and one down.
- 1:31:05He's a happy stand-in for Wayne Garrett of New York City, six thousand sevens.
- 1:31:12Now have one of Wayne's baseball playing brothers, Adrian Garrett, he's traveling with a ball club.
- 1:31:22Then Becker does the batter, 0 for 3, lying to first, flagged the center of the front out of the squib.
- 1:31:27And his overbodies strike one goal.
- 1:31:33Left-handers, Fulters throwing easily in the New York West Bullpen.
- 1:31:40Low and outside of the screwball, one ball and one strike.
- 1:31:51One one delivery, a little bit high, he lets it go, two and one.
- 1:31:55Willie Williams on deck, then Tommy Davis.
- 1:31:59Doug's lead, 3-1 on a three run homer by Tommy Davis, swinging in a miss, it's two and two.
- 1:32:05Ben Becker is certainly one of the toughest men in baseball to strike out.
- 1:32:09He's a contract ambassador.
- 1:32:11Last year, he was the least struck out batter in the National League.
- 1:32:17Now back over the screen.
- 1:32:33Two-two delivery, he's popped up on the left side of the infield, a arms signal by Bud Harrelson.
- 1:32:38Between second and third, he takes it easily for the off.
- 1:32:44Then McGraw and relief has retired five in a row.
- 1:32:50Willie Williams has bounced to second, bounced out to first, and his last time up, he was hit by a pitch ball.
- 1:32:57And it was after he was hit by the pitch that Tommy Davis lined one over the auxiliary scoreboard into the feast to bring three runs in.
- 1:33:07High fly ball, it's the center field.
- 1:33:10Coming back, Rod Gaffer now returns, he's under it, and makes a jump.
- 1:33:16No runs, no hits, no errors, then left off.
- 1:33:19Two superb innings at relief by Doug McGraw.
- 1:33:22In the middle of the eighth inning, the Chicago Cubs three, but a yard mess won.
- 1:33:26Very goody, and Bud Harrelson will be the first two men up.
- 1:33:29Then Doug McGraw, he's dead to him.
- 1:33:37McGraw has just gone as Danny Priscilla warming up along with Rich Colgers in the middle school.
- 1:33:45Very goody has reached down a field of choice, bounced out, short nothing to see.
- 1:33:51And he holds him, getting stronger as the game has progressed.
- 1:33:54In the last inning, Gaffer's back.
- 1:33:57And it's outside, ball went.
- 1:34:00Gaffer's done well against the whole city of Lifetime, but against the York Four wins and eight losses.
- 1:34:13Here's the 1-0 delivery, goody, bluffing it about, the pitch is in first strike, one ball, one strike.
- 1:34:25The Mets and the Cubs are battling for second place in the Eastern Division, a giant from Dodgers have the same battle going into Western Division.
- 1:34:33The 1-1 delivery, slow, bounding ball, coming in to the San Cusins Hill, the Hulls busting back.
- 1:34:40Hulls play it as goody as that.
- 1:34:46What a way of nobody on that, Harrelson will be the batter, and Kenny Singleton comes up out of the dugout and into the undead circle.
- 1:34:53And the Hulls are little ahead for a dozen of them.
- 1:35:02The Hull is fattened, he's got a tough break, he's starting his first Major League ball game tonight.
- 1:35:08The first fan of batting in the first inning has the lead off batter, he's the ball.
- 1:35:13The ball is out of the way, and as he slid into third the relay throw on the first stop hitting the back of the head, and forced him out of the ballgame.
- 1:35:25On the outstrike corner, one ball, one strike.
- 1:35:28Here's Roy is alright and resting comfortable.
- 1:35:31It was just a pointy night for him and he was off to set the big start.
- 1:35:38The Hull is the only one hitched to buddy Harrelson, he's fouled off the end of the crowd.
- 1:35:43End of the crowd and Hull in the first base dugout.
- 1:35:48The crowd go three runs, three hits with no errors, New York one run, four hits with no errors.
- 1:36:01A one-two delivery fouled again by Hull, and the wrap looking himself by the crowd reaction,
- 1:36:08the one in the grandstand out there came up with a downflip.
- 1:36:1915-1-2, ground ball off the pitcher's glove, wrapped now by a messenger, and begged the puppet-filling in time for the out, teaming down.
- 1:36:28Gives the pitcher an assist and he deflected the ball slightly, and Kenny Singleton bats for Doug McGraw.
- 1:36:43Kenny Singleton is going to get 260, promising young off the edge from Mountain Bird in New York.
- 1:36:59He's got a lot more left in it, you see a lot more right-hand pitching than left. Off the outside corner it's ball one.
- 1:37:15Kenny Yo, supposed to get third, wants to talk to Kenny Singleton. Beyond deck batter is Rod Gaster.
- 1:37:36The next one will have a new pitcher in the game in the ninth inning, both Falkers and Priscilla are one and up.
- 1:37:47Kenny bounced foul on the ground back towards the visiting dugout, one ball and straight. Somebody must have come to the game directly from a wedding.
- 1:38:07The one-one delivery, low and outside is two-and-one.
- 1:38:22Pitching here and one, and a fast ball to the east, even the count of two balls in two strikes. The off field deep against Kenny Singleton, and they figure him as a pull hitter, they swing around the left.
- 1:38:43Holstens 2-2 delivery, swing on, that's strike three. Kenny Yo Holstens has certainly been strong the last two innings. That is his first strikeout. No runs, no hits, no errors, none left.
- 1:38:56At the end of eight innings at Cherry Stadium, this is five-0-3, the New York Mets one. Now Danny for the start-up, those in his one-muffs, and we get set for the ninth inning, we call for station identification, this is the New York Mets baseball.
- 1:39:11This is your New York Mets baseball station in Sarasoga Springs, New York, WKAJ FM, one-o-two-point-three on your dial.
- 1:39:26Bob Murphy with Lindsay Nelson and Ralph Chainer. The ninth inning is Jey and the Cubs lead three-to-one. They lead on a three-round homer by X-Met Tommy Davis and the Sixth inning.
- 1:39:37Doug McGraw in two innings of relief retired at 16-0. No runs, no hits, he walked Danny's strikeout two.
- 1:39:45Danny for Sulla, like Doug McGraw, worked in two of the three games over the weekend in Pittsburgh, and again turned in two fine relief appearances.
- 1:39:55Danny for Sulla has certainly helped the New York Mets.
- 1:39:59Danny has won seven, lost only three. In 49 innings of relief pitching, Danny for Sulla has given up only 23 base hits.
- 1:40:17The old rule of thumb in baseball for a pitcher is that if you give up fewer hits than any fish you're doing a good job, as long as your strikeout ratio runs ahead of the walks you give up.
- 1:40:29And Danny for Sulla has certainly on the plus side in all departments.
- 1:40:36Tommy Davis leading off with a ninth inning and the pitcher's low ball one.
- 1:40:41Tommy Davis two for two and a one. He has two of the three hits collected by Chicago in the ball game.
- 1:40:48The other was a single in the third inning by top of it, and a strike on the outside corner, one and one.
- 1:40:58If the Cubs win, they would have a two-game lock on second place with three games to go.
- 1:41:04That's going to be in a position where they would have to sweep the remaining three.
- 1:41:13Danny for Sulla over the head, down comes the pitch, call strike on the inside corner, one ball and two strikes.
- 1:41:27Pitching one and two.
- 1:41:29And the problem is he's struck him out with a fourth ball.
- 1:41:34Danny for Sulla with his fourth ball, he strikes on Tommy Davis.
- 1:41:39Now clean out with James, who's done his field here, will bat for the first time in the game.
- 1:41:51You know, the only thing that's going to impress you about a White House regardless of how it tastes compares to other cigars.
- 1:41:58I appreciate a White House cigar, you have to smoke their cigar.
- 1:42:05Now the fourth ball is taken high, one ball, no strikes, the right hand is batting, clean out James.
- 1:42:11Down ball hit hard toward the hole cut off by Joe Floyd, and the pick is off to Blinder and two down.
- 1:42:21He's been away top of the night, and then he brings up Joe Puppeton.
- 1:42:36You always hear the crowd reacting when Puppeton doesn't touch you.
- 1:42:45Puppeton with power, that's playing around the right, and the pick is onside ball one.
- 1:43:02Here's the wind up by for Sulla, swing, and miss, and bat one ball and one strike.
- 1:43:09Now to the third run, three hits, the York one run, four hits, misses, and an anchor.
- 1:43:18Now a little squibbler, and Joe Floyd, nothing to lose, not the couple, it throws the first time he does.
- 1:43:28No runs, no hits, no errors, and a miss.
- 1:43:31In the middle of the ninth inning, the Spaddle seven three, the other yard missed one.
- 1:43:35Robert Abbott and one of them coming up against the ocean.
- 1:43:40The postman has retired, the last seven batters to face it.
- 1:43:44He started the thing, he's up and saying he started the thing against it.
- 1:43:48The most part came on on the sixth inning was one-off.
- 1:43:51Leon Jones with a blistering lion drive, he was caught by Puppeton, and then he was a double play.
- 1:43:59Here's the picture, he's got a lot of time.
- 1:44:05And the first baseball fan, four on the third one, he's got a much better run.
- 1:44:12Here's the picture, Leon Jones with a one-off and one strike.
- 1:44:21And the first one is open to the crowd.
- 1:44:30Here's the one-one to look at, inside is lower, and the other side is still lower.
- 1:44:33That's good, that's good.
- 1:44:36And the other side got a little nicer.
- 1:44:45The change of the line, and a pass ball on the outside corner, that's two balls and three strikes.
- 1:44:52Maybe also trying to score, it's 18-17.
- 1:44:56Over the first time, he has 118-8.
- 1:45:00Twice including this year, he's won 17.
- 1:45:05The change of the line, and it's up by ball three, three and two.
- 1:45:14And the only guy that's on deck, is Wayne the only left hand hitter on the line.
- 1:45:18And he has hit the ball as hard as anybody else in the line.
- 1:45:21With a long drive to the right of the scot, and a single drive.
- 1:45:28The change for Ian Thurston, strike three call, after the scotless.
- 1:45:36Kenny Holstman has his seventh strike out of the game.
- 1:45:41I'm not sure if we'll enough about Kenny Holstman.
- 1:45:44Five of the seven strikeouts have come in the last three innings of the game.
- 1:45:50A cool night, and a kind of night, but a pitcher certainly can stay strong.
- 1:45:56Wayne Yard has walked fly deep to the right, single to the right field.
- 1:46:08On the inside corner, it's called strike one.
- 1:46:11That's all at the level. Get it? It's not like the call.
- 1:46:19Leon Jones is on deck.
- 1:46:28And the pitch on the way, here is the strike of the outside center.
- 1:46:39The last three innings he has been wearing, is when he's watching.
- 1:46:46He strikes the liver.
- 1:46:48Strike three call, after the outside corner.
- 1:46:51He grabs the bat off of each other, and goes out on three pitchers. The eighth strikeout for Kenny Holstman.
- 1:47:11That was not only three hits, but they lead the game three to one, and were about a half of the match.
- 1:47:17Leon Jones has gone over three, and it is a hit in the two double plays.
- 1:47:24And so on is the Leon, the last time it was pure hard line.
- 1:47:28He hit a hard line drive, but right after those those come top of it.
- 1:47:36And the pitch on the way, a drive in the right, a base shot.
- 1:47:41On, Run Open track.
- 1:49:41We are the most realistic of the attention in the center field, this is Leo James.
- 1:49:46He wants him to come more toward the alley and less center to play key or friend doesn't.
- 1:49:51That's more of a pro hitter.
- 1:49:53Realizing that he will start, please, we'll be going for the home run.
- 1:49:58A strategy ball one.
- 1:50:00Most of them realizing that there's a friend there and there, he must be turning to 50 miles outside.
- 1:50:05Not giving the push that he can pull.
- 1:50:08Leo James drifting still deeper and more toward left center field.
- 1:50:15And the push.
- 1:50:17High drive, the speed, the left field, this is a high ball here.
- 1:50:21Let's go, it's a home run.
- 1:50:51Again, a side 3-3. A two run homer with two out and last of an accident by Don Glengen.
- 1:50:59It was an awesome shot, landing in the very back of the visiting bullpen, flip over the batter.
- 1:51:05High and away ball one.
- 1:51:07Glengen with a two run homer now has 95 runs out of this, which is a new mixed club record.
- 1:51:15One over delivery and a side to court the whole in the right field of the event.
- 1:51:21The running run is on, it's in and out.
- 1:51:26Three hits and a roll is a little bit of a yard net.
- 1:51:29Not to all hit right off the end of the batter, it's a little bit of a boulder.
- 1:51:32Not hits too hard, but in the hole, it rolls slowly into the right field.
- 1:51:37Glengen with a last over run, also one of the ball games in the yard net when he hit it off the end of the boulder.
- 1:51:42Glengen with a 95 RBI, as Colombs made use of it in racing the old way.
- 1:51:49It's a three-time as the first year.
- 1:51:52And the pitch outside the Joe Boy ball one.
- 1:51:58Three to three and a last of an accident.
- 1:52:00The running run is on, first feed out.
- 1:52:03And that's a rally after two or out and nobody else.
- 1:52:06And the ball, a pop up of the foul behind the plate, the batter, and the hummly.
- 1:52:13And he makes the catch.
- 1:52:17Right against the screen, and the hummly gets the pop foul all four his fouls.
- 1:52:22We're going into extra one.
- 1:52:25Two runs, three hits.
- 1:52:30No errors in one left off.
- 1:52:33John from Glengen's last moment.
- 1:52:36Two out home runs, buying up the ball game.
- 1:52:39At the end of the night at 8, he's got a rubber tree, put a yard net tree.
- 1:52:53The environment's farer than just word.
- 1:52:56It's the state of mind.
- 1:52:58You're aware of the world around you.
- 1:53:00Have you forgotten what good environments like?
- 1:53:03Then take time this summer to visit some of the places where the principles of good environment are practiced.
- 1:53:10Visit a national forest or a wildlife refuge.
- 1:53:13See wildflowers growing along a country road.
- 1:53:16Hike along a trail in the park.
- 1:53:18Listen to the sound of a thrush singing in the sun.
- 1:53:21Make sure swim in a clear mountain stream or lake.
- 1:53:25There are literally thousands of places where good environments still exist in America.
- 1:53:30Now what you're fighting for and why?
- 1:53:33Take a state and write the travel director at the state capitol for vacation ideas.
- 1:53:38Places where the environment's still good.
- 1:53:42A travel perfection from the departments of interior and agriculture.
- 1:53:57We go to the San Antonio, any first dollar, pitching to New York.
- 1:54:08That's what you look over in the night.
- 1:54:10And the leadoff batter will be Paul Fahbovitz playing third base tonight.
- 1:54:17Bob Lillick will switch him.
- 1:54:19As one for three, he's single back in the third inning.
- 1:54:22New York three runs, Southern hits the no air, Chicago three runs, three hits the no air.
- 1:54:28Boston's last two home runs have been big wins for New York.
- 1:54:33One again in Philadelphia with a home run in the last inning off the show.
- 1:54:37And he ends in this backland defeat here tonight.
- 1:54:40By hitting a home run with a man on with two outs and nobody on.
- 1:54:45When they started the thing, Leon Jones got the rally started with a two out thing.
- 1:54:51Something must be bothering Danny for selling.
- 1:54:55Joe Hodges is on his way to the mound.
- 1:55:03All the players gathering around Danny for selling.
- 1:55:07Joe Hodges out there speaking with him.
- 1:55:19Somebody out there calling coming over now to find out what's going on.
- 1:55:38Whatever it is, Danny obviously is going to stick it out.
- 1:55:50That's what we love the winters.
- 1:55:56Three to three, top of the 10th inning.
- 1:55:58Paul Fahbovitz is the batter with Randy Hunley on backhand in Kenny Holton.
- 1:56:03Here's the pitcher on the way, fastball taking the high ball away.
- 1:56:17Old third, Lloyd Weller on the top of the cup bullpen.
- 1:56:21It is both side, ball two, two balls and no strikes.
- 1:56:33And Danny for selling starts his wind up delivers.
- 1:56:36It's over at the knees of Paul Strath.
- 1:56:49Here's the two one delivers a smash on the ground right out of the wing there.
- 1:56:52He gobbles it up close to him.
- 1:57:02It's getting cold, boy, and a wide end.
- 1:57:04And Lloyd Weller on the knuckle ball, that's how it ends up bullpen.
- 1:57:08Because Kenny Holton, the pitcher, is scheduled about next.
- 1:57:17Randy Hunley has flagged his center, reached on a walk and been called out on strikes.
- 1:57:24Which by Danny for selling, is over strike one goal.
- 1:57:35Randy Hunley has been held at 70 games this year because of injury.
- 1:57:47Willie Smith has come out on deck.
- 1:57:49He's going to hit for Kenny Holton.
- 1:57:52And the pitcher will put a new pitcher in the ball game for the last half of the 10-20.
- 1:57:58Houston still leading San Francisco, 3-0 there in the 6th.
- 1:58:042 strike delivered around the 100th point on the next 3-3.
- 1:58:12Douglas Law retired in a row in relief.
- 1:58:16Danny for selling has now retired 5 in a row in relief.
- 1:58:22Willie Smith is going to bat for Kenny Holton.
- 1:58:33Willie a left hand batter, getting 2-17.
- 1:58:40Well, Kenny Holton is out of the game after pitching 9 and he allows 3 runs, 7 hits.
- 1:58:46He was very, very close to his 18th one of the year.
- 1:58:51The Devils were leading 3-1, 2 outs and nobody on in the last of the 9th.
- 1:58:56Leon Jones single to right and Don's under an armored to tie the game.
- 1:59:03Here's the pitcher on the way.
- 1:59:05Inside it, Lord Willie Smith.
- 1:59:10Willie, a little hitter, both the infield and the outfield around the right.
- 1:59:18The batters sell out fastball high, 2 balls and no strike.
- 1:59:39Danny for selling side again, the pitch to Willie Smith, a high foul fly and a shallow finicky.
- 1:59:45Rod gas for range again, he's under the draw to beat on a time like this.
- 1:59:51Danny for selling, gets the carry 20-3 again.
- 1:59:55No runs, no hits, no errors, no luck.
- 1:59:58In the middle of the 10-30.

- 2:01:07Don't wait for the next guy.
- 2:01:15Hello sir, 47-year-old Hoyt Wilhelm.
- 2:01:18Now, thank you for your cargo.
- 2:01:20Well, Hoyt Wilhelm is third of his parents, and is being purchased from the Atlanta Braves.
- 2:01:26It's been a good year for him, Mr. Ballard. He won sixth and lost fourth. This will be a 53rd game of the year.
- 2:01:33The 80s to 47-year-old Hoyt Wilhelm is still a mystery to the National League of Youth.
- 2:01:39He passed down out early. He was revived by the Phillies.
- 2:01:44He was successful against Wilhelm, and that's what this went on.
- 2:01:48Usually, he was a lot more than riding on power, I think.
- 2:01:52Because in more trouble, the power here is taking a big portion.
- 2:01:57Usually, they have a lot of trouble against Wilhelm's troubles.
- 2:02:08John Herbal warming up for New York, with the bottom of the body water hitting,
- 2:02:13where in the bottom of the water is the same thing.
- 2:02:16Very good. He is over three.
- 2:02:19At least on the field of choice, twice around about the coast.
- 2:02:23The knuckleball is on, and one ball in the middle of the coast.
- 2:02:27Wally Huntley handling Wilhelm's knuckleball.
- 2:02:36The line goes by like that, but it's the road.
- 2:02:39One ball in one place.
- 2:02:43What a hell is going on here beyond those bodies.
- 2:02:47Knuckleball is so neat, though, of the amount of blades
- 2:02:51considered by the health of the best knuckleball winner in the National League.
- 2:02:57It's one-on-one.
- 2:03:01And the picture underway, Knuckleball is back doing what?
- 2:03:05Any Holstman in nine innings, about three runs, seven hits.
- 2:03:09Issued only one walk and struck out easy.
- 2:03:13Six of the eight strikeouts came in the last three innings of the game.
- 2:03:21We're going to miss the end of this.
- 2:03:24Just what Holstman appeared to be at his very best in the game,
- 2:03:28when that suddenly struck his eye.
- 2:03:31He had retired nine in a row when Leon June Single with two outs in the ninth inning.
- 2:03:36The team's run through. Bowzip, no play, and the cast is complete.
- 2:03:50This is the record at the moment,
- 2:03:52our white Wilhelm and Danny Prussell.
- 2:03:55Well done for you, scion, between delivery.
- 2:04:03Now the two tickets, and the brown ball hits.
- 2:04:06There are a big success going down the left field line.
- 2:04:09Woody, a round first, the final's the latest second base.
- 2:04:13And the winning run is on the left.
- 2:04:16A round double, right over the bank.
- 2:04:19Very good, he had on down the left field line.
- 2:04:29Now White is coming out to run for Jerry Groot.
- 2:04:40Now White is running for Jerry Groot.
- 2:04:43What Halston is about.
- 2:04:53Halston is not usually a long ball threat.
- 2:04:57They want to be in position to try and throw White out of the plate on a base.
- 2:05:01Now Prussell's face is open, let's see how Halston is going to play.
- 2:05:05It looks like they will pitch to Halston.
- 2:05:08Well, Halston is in position.
- 2:05:16Poor Halston, no throw is made.
- 2:05:20Now White is running for Jerry Groot.
- 2:05:23Groot, he hit a hard round here, right over the bank,
- 2:05:25it's good, and on down the line for a double.
- 2:05:28Here's the push, and he punched the ball out of the plate.
- 2:05:32Right front by Halston, and throw the first is in time.
- 2:05:35The winning round is 20 feet away.
- 2:05:39And he first ball out is being called back.
- 2:05:48Well, Halston is not usually doing White's deserve.
- 2:05:52Mark Shanks is a round winner.
- 2:05:55Well, he's a good player.
- 2:06:04Mark Shanks is the first winner, and now let's see how he will play.
- 2:06:08Will he walk the next two and load the bases to get the winged grass?
- 2:06:12Will he bring his winged field in, and take his chance at the finish?
- 2:06:16Well, the only way to look towards the dugout is to see how the manager,
- 2:06:23Garrosha, wants to play there.
- 2:06:28But this one here is Arnst Geneski,
- 2:06:31and Dave Marshall has come out on Dutch to bat the Rod Gaster.
- 2:06:39The winning round is on Thursdays with one man up.
- 2:06:42A long outfield fly will do it.
- 2:06:44And so the outfield has been set up shallow.
- 2:06:47Close enough to have a chance to throw,
- 2:06:50White's out of the play. Here's the stretch.
- 2:06:53And the pitch.
- 2:06:54And a ground ball back to the mound.
- 2:06:56The runner will have to hold.
- 2:06:58Throw the first two down. Now they need a base hit.
- 2:07:02Well, Geneski retired on one pitch, and it's up to Dave Marshall.
- 2:07:06Dave Marshall will bat for Rod Gaster.
- 2:07:12Dave at 2.53 with six on runs.
- 2:07:14If they're not thinking home out of this point,
- 2:07:17just a nice little single would be fine, thank you.
- 2:07:19Now White's on third to middle way.
- 2:07:21He's got to strap the infield back now.
- 2:07:24And the other one is on the right.
- 2:07:26And the other one is on the left.
- 2:07:28And the other one is on the right.
- 2:07:30And the other one is on the right.
- 2:07:32And the other one is on the right.
- 2:07:34And the other one is on the right.
- 2:07:43Quite well, Allen, since you can release.
- 2:07:45Roddy let off of the double.
- 2:07:47And Hells and Bunny-Bowler, but Art Geneski's boss
- 2:07:50went right back to the pitch.
- 2:07:55Now the stretch by well, Allen.
- 2:07:57And the pitch.
- 2:07:59Another ball outside, one ball and no stretch.
- 2:08:04Ron Herbal has been warming up in the bullpen.
- 2:08:07He'll be coming in if we go to the 11-20.
- 2:08:14Now Old Sarge, next to run at a third,
- 2:08:17here's the pitcher on the way.
- 2:08:19Now no play, run ball and stretch.
- 2:08:33That's not done well in the extra inning ball games this year.
- 2:08:36They won 8-11.
- 2:08:41It's 1-1 on the post-battery Dave Marshall.
- 2:08:44There's a full hitter, they play him deep
- 2:08:47and they swing around the right court.
- 2:08:49That's third, top of it, just playing even with the bag,
- 2:08:52but wide of the line.
- 2:08:55Second base from Beckett,
- 2:08:57back to the remedy, off the other one.
- 2:08:591-1 delivery.
- 2:09:01Way in the same.
- 2:09:02It's 2-1.
- 2:09:07Any time you have a knuckleball pitcher on the ball,
- 2:09:09in this half of the situation,
- 2:09:11there's always the possibility of a pass ball or a wild pitch.
- 2:09:20So why is the runner on third will be alert to see
- 2:09:23that he won delivery in the first ball three.
- 2:09:29It's 3-1 on Dave Marshall.
- 2:09:35Wayne Garrett is beyond duck better.
- 2:09:37That Marshall digs in.
- 2:09:40You don't have to worry about getting rid of the low-hound,
- 2:09:42that you can be hit, he's not going to wobble your eyes.
- 2:09:453-1 delivery.
- 2:09:47Now, the final call for,
- 2:09:49is up to Wayne Garrett.
- 2:09:54So Marshall reaches on a walk,
- 2:09:56putting runners on first and third.
- 2:10:013-2-1.
- 2:10:033-2-1.
- 2:10:043-2-1.
- 2:10:08A quick pause for station identification.
- 2:10:10This is New York West Baseball Network.

- 2:10:32why is the winning runners on third,
- 2:10:34two down, and Garrett is the batter.
- 2:10:36Now the first.
- 2:10:38Nugget ball high, one ball and no strike.
- 2:10:43Nugget from the lead of a baseball.
- 2:10:45First baseman, Phil Peppertone,
- 2:10:47called for, and he wants to say something real.
- 2:10:56Now, why is getting as much lead as he can,
- 2:10:58in case one of those knuckle balls gets loose?
- 2:11:02Now the stretch.
- 2:11:04On the pitch on the way,
- 2:11:06we are trying to ball through.
- 2:11:09Leon Jones is beyond that side.
- 2:11:19Well, Elm rarely hurts himself by lack of control.
- 2:11:23Even though he throws good butterscotch,
- 2:11:25I bet he usually gets it over.
- 2:11:28Down is Fulow, there's the pitch on the way.
- 2:11:31In for a strike and Garrett will take it.
- 2:11:34Now it's Fulow's and one strike.
- 2:11:41Now, the winning run is on third, two down.
- 2:11:48Now, Wilham's into the fifth,
- 2:11:50there's some news to pitch.
- 2:11:52Now, the high drive hit the right field,
- 2:11:55way back, way back, way back,
- 2:11:57scoring, hard run.
- 2:11:59A three-round homer by Wayne Garrett.
- 2:12:07He's drive hard run of the year.
- 2:12:14Next, he's back to the side,
- 2:12:16with Southern Blaze and the deep Chicago 6-3.
- 2:12:19Wayne Garrett, hitting a 2-1 knuckleball,
- 2:12:23over the auxiliary scoreboard,
- 2:12:25up in the ballon, facing the right field.
- 2:12:28And the crowd really enjoying it.
- 2:12:30This is the thriller for them.
- 2:12:32When Gordon Homer was two outs in the ninth inning,
- 2:12:36the 5-0 game, and Wayne Garrett
- 2:12:39has just hit a three-run homer,
- 2:12:41in the bottom half of the judge,
- 2:12:43winning the winner.
- 2:12:44Final score, but the yard left six,
- 2:12:46down to Chicago 7-3.
