- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, guys, and welcome back to normally the show with
- 0:07Speaker 1: normalish takes for when the news gets weird.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I'm Mary Catherine.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Ham and I'm Carol Markowitz.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We're busy out here, folks, and we're not just busy
- 0:16Speaker 1: in the news. I do want to say that I
- 0:18Speaker 1: have three girls and one boy, and just from having
- 0:21Speaker 1: hung out with him this morning, the number of head
- 0:24Speaker 1: injuries is just so much higher exponentially for my boy
- 0:30Speaker 1: than the girls.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Like they're a totally different gender and everything. It's a
- 0:37Speaker 3: real difference.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I have, like a really active three year old girl,
- 0:41Speaker 1: like so athletic, adventurous, all over everything. But man, that
- 0:46Speaker 1: risk assessment is just different. It's just it's different.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yeah, my girl climbs trees, very active. But the boys,
- 0:55Speaker 3: you know, are constantly injuring themselves. There was this thing
- 0:58Speaker 3: recently where Jonathan hate Posts did that, like, you know,
- 1:01Speaker 3: you used to be able to used to walk into
- 1:02Speaker 3: like a third grade classroom and like it would be
- 1:05Speaker 3: like a hospital waiting room and everybody would be in
- 1:08Speaker 3: casts and that doesn't happen anymore. And I was, like,
- 1:11Speaker 3: it happens in my home in my home, we're like
- 1:13Speaker 3: looking for a package deal to the emergency room for
- 1:16Speaker 3: the youngest son. Yeah, it depends, It really depends.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I'm new to this, although as a child I was
- 1:22Speaker 1: raised with two boys, so like I understood, but now
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm re learning all of this, and I just didn't
- 1:28Speaker 1: understand that checking pupils would be like a daily.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Thing that I was up to.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So anyway, that's that's what I've been keeping tabs on
- 1:34Speaker 1: other than the election. But let's get into the election. Yeah,
- 1:38Speaker 1: Kamala Harris gave a speech on the Ellipse in Washington
- 1:43Speaker 1: last night. To the number the estimates are some seventy
- 1:47Speaker 1: five thousand people.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'll allow it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to have a fight about crowd sizes
- 1:52Speaker 1: to I imagine a lot of DC denizens were there,
- 1:55Speaker 1: a lot of members of the sort of establishment community
- 1:59Speaker 1: here in DC. It was meant to invoke the speech
- 2:03Speaker 1: that Trump gave on January sixth to his supporters. Was
- 2:06Speaker 1: in the same spot, she had the White House behind her,
- 2:10Speaker 1: and the idea was to communicate to everybody that she's
- 2:13Speaker 1: up for this job, and right Trump's a huge threat
- 2:17Speaker 1: and she's going to change and fix all the things
- 2:19Speaker 1: that are broken now that are happening on her watch.
- 2:23Speaker 2: So what's your verdict, Carol.
- 2:25Speaker 3: You know, it was so bizarre that I didn't know
- 2:32Speaker 3: who I was listening to. Kamala Harris is going to
- 2:34Speaker 3: deport illegal immigrants. That's what she said last night. I
- 2:38Speaker 3: am so confused because, of course everybody immediately posted a
- 2:42Speaker 3: montage of her saying all these terrible things about Donald
- 2:46Speaker 3: Trump and how his you know, deporting immigrants is so wrong,
- 2:50Speaker 3: and that idea is just not one that she could
- 2:52Speaker 3: ever abide by. And now she's like, let's do it now.
- 2:57Speaker 1: We actually have a clip of her. Let's hear the
- 2:59Speaker 1: new Kamala.
- 3:00Speaker 4: And when I am president, we will quickly remove those
- 3:04Speaker 4: who arrive here unlawfully, prosecute the cartels, and give border
- 3:09Speaker 4: patrol the support they so desperately need. At the same time,
- 3:18Speaker 4: we must acknowledge we are a nation of immigrants, and
- 3:24Speaker 4: I will work with Congress to pass immigration reform, including
- 3:30Speaker 4: an earned path to citizenship for hard working immigrants like
- 3:34Speaker 4: farm workers.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And our dreamers. So she's gonna she's gonna deport quickly.
- 3:40Speaker 2: She's currently an ace's going to do it. She's currently
- 3:43Speaker 2: in office.
- 3:44Speaker 1: They also, this is the thing that gets me, they
- 3:48Speaker 1: exacerbated the problem when they decided upon taking office that
- 3:54Speaker 1: they would govern in opposition to Trump.
- 3:56Speaker 2: That's it.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Governing an opposition to Trump is not a wise way
- 3:59Speaker 1: to make policy. And they shouldn't have removed a bunch
- 4:02Speaker 1: of measures he had in place that kept the border
- 4:05Speaker 1: relatively secure. They did, They paid the political price for it,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and now they say, like, it's Congress that hasn't.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Done its job. Exact girl, you were there for all
- 4:15Speaker 2: of this.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and they've managed to decrease the flow at the border,
- 4:20Speaker 3: you know, using an executive order. They didn't. They literally
- 4:24Speaker 3: just went back to some of the policies of the
- 4:26Speaker 3: Trump administration and illegal immigration went down. It is an
- 4:32Speaker 3: odd thing for her to be talking about in the
- 4:34Speaker 3: last few days of the campaign. I get that she
- 4:37Speaker 3: wanted to send the message that Donald Trump is a
- 4:40Speaker 3: threat once again. I think that that's something that they
- 4:44Speaker 3: beat us over the head with. But this just it
- 4:47Speaker 3: didn't land for a lot of reasons. But you know,
- 4:51Speaker 3: I don't entirely get it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking of beating us over the head with the message.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I read a Vox piece which was pretty helpful on
- 5:00Speaker 1: running through because I remembered this. There's a lot of
- 5:03Speaker 1: there's not a small amount of empirical data and surveys
- 5:06Speaker 1: that show that telling people that Trump is a threat
- 5:09Speaker 1: is not the thing that's going to convince undecided voters
- 5:13Speaker 1: right now. If they were going to decide based upon that,
- 5:16Speaker 1: they would have already decided, right So they're telling you
- 5:19Speaker 1: that putting it in the January sixth spot and talking
- 5:22Speaker 1: about how he's a threat and calling him a fascist
- 5:24Speaker 1: is a play for undecided voters. I don't think it is.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't think the evidence shows that it is. And
- 5:31Speaker 1: there's a great paragraph in the Vox piece that basically
- 5:35Speaker 1: says Trump curious voters also heard from Democrats for four
- 5:40Speaker 1: years how this was such a problem and yet never
- 5:44Speaker 1: experienced the repression that they were told was happening. And
- 5:49Speaker 1: I was like, that does seem important.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Shocking that Vox wrote it up like that.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Mm hmmm.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So there are plenty of people, including her own major pack,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I think, wondering whether this is the correct turn to
- 6:05Speaker 1: take at this point.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I saw the major packs of the pack and the
- 6:08Speaker 3: candidate are not allowed to coordinate for people who don't know,
- 6:11Speaker 3: so the pack basically went to the news with their
- 6:15Speaker 3: concerns that the campaign was overusing the Nazi thing. And
- 6:21Speaker 3: that's how the Kamala campaign gets to hear what the
- 6:24Speaker 3: pack is just thinking.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Now we have one more clip from Kamala, and then
- 6:27Speaker 1: you're going to hear a clip that undermines Kamala Harris's
- 6:31Speaker 1: whole night. So here's Kamala Harris talking about her philosophy
- 6:35Speaker 1: of working across the aisle.
- 6:36Speaker 4: People who disagree with me are the enemy. He wants
- 6:41Speaker 4: to put them in jail. I'll give them a seat
- 6:44Speaker 4: at the table.
- 6:45Speaker 1: That was hilariously clipped inadvertently clipped that way, But what
- 6:50Speaker 1: she said was just so we can move from there.
- 6:53Speaker 1: She said, I do not believe that people who disagree
- 6:57Speaker 1: with me are the enemy. He wants to put them
- 6:59Speaker 1: in jail. I want to give them a seat at
- 7:01Speaker 1: the table.
- 7:02Speaker 3: The Nazis are getting a seat at the table. What
- 7:04Speaker 3: a country.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It's so nice.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I don't believe her that she thinks people who disagree
- 7:12Speaker 1: with her are not the enemy. She's been calling him
- 7:15Speaker 1: a fascist and by extension, his supporters fascist supporters. Yep,
- 7:21Speaker 1: her allies have very enthusiastically this week called his gathering
- 7:27Speaker 1: in Madison Square Garden a Nazi rally. So that doesn't
- 7:33Speaker 1: say to me that we're coming together. I don't feel
- 7:36Speaker 1: that we're coming together in that moment. And you know
- 7:38Speaker 1: who also didn't feel like we're coming together, President Joe Biden,
- 7:42Speaker 1: who was speaking on a zoom for Latino voter outreach,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and he referenced the joke by the roast comic Tony
- 7:51Speaker 1: Hinchcliff at the Mason Square Garden event, which a lot
- 7:55Speaker 1: of people have made a lot of hay about, and
- 7:57Speaker 1: to be fair, several Puerto Rican influencers and performers have
- 8:02Speaker 1: jumped into the fray over this. So like I'm willing
- 8:05Speaker 1: to believe that it's a thing.
- 8:07Speaker 2: But it was like a.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Three day news cycle, right, he references it, and then
- 8:11Speaker 1: he gives us another several day news cycle with this beauty.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Or Puerto Rico where I'm in my home state of Delaware.
- 8:18Speaker 5: They're good, decent, honorable people. The only garbage icee float
- 8:22Speaker 5: not there is his supporters. His demonizational scene is unconscionable,
- 8:28Speaker 5: and it's on American garbage Nazis.
- 8:31Speaker 3: My mom is so proud.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Garbage Nazis with a seat at the table.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Carol, Yeah, This is an interesting moment because you wouldn't
- 8:42Speaker 1: normally have the sitting president, yeah, doing an event while
- 8:48Speaker 1: his vice president, who's running for president, is doing an
- 8:52Speaker 1: event that is much more important.
- 8:56Speaker 2: So that speaks to some lack of coordination.
- 8:59Speaker 1: We've heard about that, some maybe a little bad blood,
- 9:03Speaker 1: and uh, look, I don't think.
- 9:04Speaker 2: The president's capable of being president, but he's certainly capable
- 9:07Speaker 2: of stepping all over her stuff.
- 9:09Speaker 1: It's amazing in the most precise ways possible, Like he's like,
- 9:14Speaker 1: what's her message again?
- 9:15Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to go opposite. I'm going to do that.
- 9:17Speaker 2: We'll be right back on normally in just a minute.
- 9:23Speaker 3: The thing is, it's clear that it's what he really believes,
- 9:27Speaker 3: and it's not a secret that they believe this. It's
- 9:30Speaker 3: so funny that there's this reaction today. You know, we
- 9:32Speaker 3: don't think that Trump supporters her garbage, but you think
- 9:36Speaker 3: they're Nazis. I'm not sure that one is necessarily worse
- 9:39Speaker 3: than the other when you're calling them names. So it's
- 9:44Speaker 3: really crazy to me that it's being first of all,
- 9:47Speaker 3: the lie that he didn't really say what he said,
- 9:50Speaker 3: that there's an apostrophe in there. Mary Catherine is there
- 9:53Speaker 3: an apostrophe in there?
- 9:54Speaker 2: Yeah? So theory.
- 9:55Speaker 1: The theory is that he meant when he ended that
- 9:59Speaker 1: sentence to refer to only Tony Hinchcliffe's garbage, right, the
- 10:05Speaker 1: garbage belonged to Tony Hinchcliff. There was an apostrophe there, Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I mean he ends the sentence pretty clearly.
- 10:11Speaker 2: This is like an emphatic thing he's saying.
- 10:14Speaker 1: As you note Ockham's razor here, Carol, people have been
- 10:17Speaker 1: expressing that they believe Trump supporters are trash for nine years.
- 10:24Speaker 1: In fact, one of the things that distinguished me in
- 10:27Speaker 1: my job at CNN when I was there is that
- 10:30Speaker 1: I was not.
- 10:30Speaker 2: A Trump supporter.
- 10:31Speaker 1: In fact, I was often critical, but I was defensive
- 10:36Speaker 1: of his supporters, and I could understand how they were
- 10:39Speaker 1: motivated to vote for him. I was a rare one
- 10:44Speaker 1: because the rest of them were like, no, their motivations
- 10:46Speaker 1: are bad, and they are bad.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Right, So why are we acting surprised now?
- 10:50Speaker 3: Right? It's been going on for so long, and obviously
- 10:53Speaker 3: Hillary Clinton had what was her moment during her race
- 10:57Speaker 3: against Donald Trump where she said that his supporters were
- 11:00Speaker 3: basket of deplorables, and that really hurt her. I think
- 11:04Speaker 3: that she was really saying that half the country basically
- 11:09Speaker 3: were this basket of deplorables. And I think this is
- 11:11Speaker 3: so much worse. The only thing that Kamala Harris has
- 11:15Speaker 3: is to say, i'm you know, this guy's not running.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I am. But she's been very clear that she is
- 11:24Speaker 3: supportive of Biden and his policies, and she's covered up
- 11:28Speaker 3: the fact that he was unwell for a long time.
- 11:31Speaker 3: It's kind of hard for her now to parse her
- 11:34Speaker 3: way out of this and say I'm not part of this.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Right.
- 11:37Speaker 1: This is the pickle they keep getting themselves in, which
- 11:39Speaker 1: is that if you want to continue the charad that
- 11:42Speaker 1: he charad, I'm very sophisticated, that he is the president
- 11:47Speaker 1: right and that he's functioning, you have to let him talk.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Sometimes when they let him talk, he says things that
- 11:53Speaker 1: the campaign doesn't want him to say, and then they
- 11:55Speaker 1: have to distance themselves themselves from him. Right now, they
- 11:58Speaker 1: don't even know what the correct lie is because Josh Shapiro,
- 12:02Speaker 1: being a smart politician, was like, he shouldn't have said that.
- 12:06Speaker 2: That's a.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And then the White House is like, no, no, no, he
- 12:12Speaker 1: didn't say that. And Harris, the epitome of a leader
- 12:16Speaker 1: doesn't know which position to take.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Right, which lie is the one?
- 12:22Speaker 3: She's in a pickle, she really is.
- 12:24Speaker 1: The way, is it so much to ask to hold
- 12:26Speaker 1: the President of the United States to the same standard
- 12:28Speaker 1: as you hold a roast comic.
- 12:31Speaker 2: You think, right, yeah, because I'm willing to.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Believe that the roast comic bad joke might make some
- 12:37Speaker 1: people mad, and you shouldn't have done that unforced error.
- 12:39Speaker 1: And I'll say that, right, this seems like at least
- 12:43Speaker 1: as big a deal.
- 12:45Speaker 2: But I'm being told it's not right.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Somehow, it's not as big a deal. Randy Barnett had
- 12:50Speaker 3: this great tweet if he said, unlike Tony Hinchcliff, Joe
- 12:53Speaker 3: Biden is not on the ballot because Tony Hinchcliff, I
- 12:58Speaker 3: didn't even know the guy's name. I had to like
- 12:59Speaker 3: look up the Rose Comics name.
- 13:01Speaker 1: So it's it is wild. We have one little clip more.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I want to play Scott Jennings Good Soldier over and
- 13:10Speaker 1: see where he says, like, hey, I think maybe you
- 13:14Speaker 1: guys do think we're garbage, but the CNN panels not
- 13:17Speaker 1: having it.
- 13:18Speaker 6: You use people where they are best. You put Obama
- 13:20Speaker 6: in a big arena, you put Michelle in a big arena,
- 13:22Speaker 6: and you put Joe Biden in front of a bunch
- 13:24Speaker 6: of union people do in retail politics.
- 13:26Speaker 4: You could make the argument that they would be fine
- 13:29Speaker 4: if Joe Biden wasn't anywhere near a book between now
- 13:32Speaker 4: and next two today.
- 13:34Speaker 6: Let me just accept the most charitable framing of this,
- 13:36Speaker 6: which you just gave. Why is he sitting in front
- 13:40Speaker 6: of a laptop at the exact same moment Kamala Harris
- 13:44Speaker 6: is out on his backyard trying to give the closing
- 13:48Speaker 6: argument to her campaign. What in the world is he doing.
- 13:52Speaker 6: I don't accept your framing of it personally because I
- 13:54Speaker 6: actually do believe he Harris, the Democratic Party and most
- 13:59Speaker 6: of their campaign. I do believe that half the country
- 14:02Speaker 6: is garbage. They've also said people who go to Trump
- 14:04Speaker 6: rallies are Nazis, and so it's pretty apparent the disdain
- 14:09Speaker 6: with which they hold half of the country. Speech tonight,
- 14:17Speaker 6: but as a tactical matter today, but you don't in
- 14:20Speaker 6: the world is Joe Biden giving remarks at the same.
- 14:27Speaker 3: I'll give you that. I'll give you that his face
- 14:29Speaker 3: in the beginning, that the camera face.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Like I love.
- 14:34Speaker 1: You can't just say that, it's like I can't just
- 14:36Speaker 1: say that y'all have spent the last three days that
- 14:41Speaker 1: all of these people not since this is this is
- 14:44Speaker 1: not even controversial, And I think I'm very reactive to gaslighting,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and so I I do put large emphasis on things
- 14:53Speaker 1: that might not have as large an emphasis if you
- 14:55Speaker 1: didn't lie to my face about what the president is
- 14:58Speaker 1: saying in that clip, if you didn't release a cleaned
- 15:01Speaker 1: up transcript where you add an apostrophe so it's not
- 15:03Speaker 1: as egregious, if you aren't a person in the press
- 15:07Speaker 1: who has run with the bloodbath comments and totally taken
- 15:11Speaker 1: those out of context.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, to then tell me this is out of context,
- 15:15Speaker 2: right right?
- 15:17Speaker 3: And you know, when we ran that clip of Harris
- 15:20Speaker 3: and it sounds like she's saying something she's not, you
- 15:23Speaker 3: immediately clarified so that our listeners know the full story.
- 15:26Speaker 3: We could have left it like that. We could have
- 15:28Speaker 3: left it like she said, you know that she wants
- 15:31Speaker 3: to jail her opponents or whatever. We could have let
- 15:34Speaker 3: people believe that. But it's important to tell the truth,
- 15:37Speaker 3: and it's important to not misinform your viewers and listeners.
- 15:40Speaker 3: I think that's such a big deal that gets kind
- 15:43Speaker 3: of glossed over at these televised insane asylums.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I woant to note one more quick stat because like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: who knows what's happening in this race. But I do
- 15:54Speaker 1: think if you're running to save democracy, as Kamala Harris does.
- 15:57Speaker 2: That you should work really, really hard.
- 16:00Speaker 1: And I just want to give you the numbers from
- 16:02Speaker 1: Axios forty three cities visited in twenty twenty four for
- 16:06Speaker 1: the Democratic candidate, and I guess that's a split workload
- 16:09Speaker 1: with Biden. Anyway, If we're doing all of twenty twenty
- 16:11Speaker 1: four fifty seven for Trump and these numbers are on par,
- 16:18Speaker 1: this is a sin that number forty three is on
- 16:22Speaker 1: par with Joe Biden's twenty twenty number in the heart
- 16:26Speaker 1: of COVID forty two cities he visited.
- 16:29Speaker 2: That's inexcusable. Why aren't you more places than that?
- 16:33Speaker 3: Right? It's interesting because during that campaign, and I've been
- 16:37Speaker 3: on campaigns, you know, it's so busy and hectic and
- 16:40Speaker 3: you don't sleep, and it's NonStop. During that campaign, I said,
- 16:44Speaker 3: if Joe Biden wins, this might just completely change the
- 16:48Speaker 3: way people campaign. If you can do it from a basement,
- 16:51Speaker 3: then why wouldn't you And really remains to be seen
- 16:54Speaker 3: what happens on Tuesday if she pulls this out. I
- 16:57Speaker 3: don't see why any candidate go forward and work the
- 17:02Speaker 3: kind of work that Donald Trump is doing. I think
- 17:05Speaker 3: that they would say it's a new way of campaigning now,
- 17:08Speaker 3: and we don't have to visit these places, so we'll
- 17:10Speaker 3: see what happens on.
- 17:11Speaker 1: My contrast, By the way, Obama in two thousand and
- 17:14Speaker 1: eight ninety six cities and McCain was on par with him. Meanwhile,
- 17:18Speaker 1: they were telling us that he was exhausted, just like
- 17:20Speaker 1: they're making.
- 17:21Speaker 2: That argument about Trump.
- 17:22Speaker 1: A couple one update from the State of Virginia on
- 17:26Speaker 1: election week shenanigans. Remember, the State of Virginia was sued
- 17:30Speaker 1: by the Department of Justice over a two thousand and
- 17:32Speaker 1: six law that allowed it to cull certain self designated
- 17:38Speaker 1: non citizens from its voter roles. So if a non
- 17:42Speaker 1: citizen checked a box at the DMV on a form
- 17:45Speaker 1: that indicated they were a non citizen, and they were
- 17:47Speaker 1: accidentally on the voter rolls, then that would be cleaned.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Up right, the saintest plan in the world.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And it also, by the way, if you're concerned about
- 17:56Speaker 1: it catching citizens in there, it has three backstop including
- 18:00Speaker 1: a provisional ballot that you can do on the day
- 18:03Speaker 1: of voting. This has been enforced since two thousand and
- 18:06Speaker 1: six by Democrats and Republicans. It was passed and signed
- 18:10Speaker 1: under Tim Kaine, current Democratic Senators governorship. The DOJ in
- 18:15Speaker 1: writing at the time, said it did not violate federal law,
- 18:19Speaker 1: but they're after them, so this goes through the courts quickly.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Supreme Court just ruled that, in fact, Virginia can take
- 18:27Speaker 1: the voters they have found that are indicated by those
- 18:31Speaker 1: people that they are not citizens off of the voter roles.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I can't believe they're fighting for this in the open.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I feel like it's a bad message.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 18:39Speaker 3: And three Supreme Court justices opposed this, so what was
- 18:43Speaker 3: their thinking on it? I mean, I haven't read the
- 18:46Speaker 3: decision yet, but it's it's crazy to me that three
- 18:49Speaker 3: Supreme Court justices are like, no, you can't remove people
- 18:53Speaker 3: who are here illegally from your voter roles. Why not?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Well, and I understand the thing that they're claiming it
- 18:59Speaker 1: violates is this sort of ninety day timeout where people aren't.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Purged from voter roles.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But these are very specific numbers, and because it's not
- 19:08Speaker 1: a systematic look at the voter rolls, then you can
- 19:11Speaker 1: make very specific decisions which don't endanger a lot of people. So, like,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I understand the argument on the other side, I just
- 19:18Speaker 1: don't think this meets it at all.
- 19:20Speaker 2: It just seems like sane things that they're doing.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Yeah, the sane state of Virginia is doing the right
- 19:27Speaker 3: thing here.
- 19:28Speaker 1: This is normally We'll be back after this message. Another
- 19:35Speaker 1: story Shenanigan's out in Colorado. The Secretary of State of
- 19:39Speaker 1: Colorado accidentally released publicly.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Accidentally.
- 19:47Speaker 1: The passwords for the voting systems.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Right this by the way, Yeah, go ahead.
- 19:55Speaker 3: No, I was gonna say, it's either malice or incompetence.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Either way, she has to be fired. I don't see
- 19:59Speaker 3: how they're there's a third option here.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Well, she's the department says the Colorida Department. State is
- 20:06Speaker 1: aware that a spreadsheet located on the department's website and
- 20:09Speaker 1: properly included a hidden tab including partial passwords to certain components.
- 20:13Speaker 1: There's all this minimizing of Colorado voting systems. This does
- 20:16Speaker 1: not pose an immediate security threat to Colorado's elections, nor
- 20:19Speaker 1: will it impact how ballots are counted. This is the
- 20:22Speaker 1: Colorado secretary of state, by the way, who tried to
- 20:24Speaker 1: take Trump off the ballots.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Just in case you're interested in her, agree her.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Positions here, right, it's yeah. Again, I don't understand how
- 20:34Speaker 3: she keeps her job here, But and I don't understand
- 20:37Speaker 3: why Democrats aren't angry about this. I mean, Colorado's mostly
- 20:40Speaker 3: a blue state at this point, and they should be
- 20:43Speaker 3: concerned and angered at this breach. And again, it doesn't
- 20:47Speaker 3: have to be malice, although accidentally I don't know. I'm
- 20:51Speaker 3: not so sure. Again, but if it is accidental, then
- 20:54Speaker 3: you're just incompetent and shouldn't be secretary of state anyway.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Well, and to steal a line from Jeff Bezos who
- 20:59Speaker 1: wrote this about the press, not only do you have
- 21:02Speaker 1: to do the job right, people have to trust that
- 21:05Speaker 1: you're doing the job right. And if you do stuff
- 21:08Speaker 1: like this or you take fourteen days to count right,
- 21:12Speaker 1: people don't trust.
- 21:13Speaker 2: That you're doing it right.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Can by the way, Can Desantas and Jeb Bush, I
- 21:16Speaker 1: think I've said this before, just go around the country
- 21:19Speaker 1: and teach everyone to count votes quickly and competently.
- 21:22Speaker 3: This is how you do it all right, well, our
- 21:25Speaker 3: last segment here are in case you missed it. There
- 21:28Speaker 3: are two stories. I broke some information about both of them.
- 21:32Speaker 3: One is there were exploding ballot boxes, actually I should
- 21:36Speaker 3: say specifically not exploding ballot boxes, ballot boxes set on
- 21:40Speaker 3: fire in Oregon and in Washington State. And the crazy
- 21:47Speaker 3: thing is is that it's really not a story. It's
- 21:50Speaker 3: a very kind of minor story. And yesterday the news
- 21:55Speaker 3: broke Andy Know broke the story that these vices that
- 22:00Speaker 3: were put in these ballot boxes had free Gaza written
- 22:03Speaker 3: on it. So counties are I believe, purplish, they're not
- 22:08Speaker 3: super blue, despite being in near Portland in Washington State.
- 22:13Speaker 3: But this is what's going on. It's barely a story.
- 22:16Speaker 3: It's I just feel like if they thought that this
- 22:20Speaker 3: was Republicans destroying ballots, it would be a national story.
- 22:25Speaker 3: But because it's not, because they know it's not or
- 22:29Speaker 3: they think it's not, it's barely mentioned. And I don't know.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I'm kind of anti burning ballots personally.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think because these are people who've already voted, they
- 22:38Speaker 1: cannot be informed reliably that now they're out of luck.
- 22:43Speaker 2: This is bad.
- 22:44Speaker 1: It should be a national story. Another thing that should
- 22:46Speaker 1: be a national story is the shooting. Thankfully, the victim
- 22:51Speaker 1: is in good condition.
- 22:52Speaker 2: He was shot in the shoulder.
- 22:54Speaker 1: But a man in Chicago was shot on his way
- 22:57Speaker 1: to a synagogue, right, and we haven't heard anything about it,
- 23:00Speaker 1: despite the fact that I know that police can't locate
- 23:03Speaker 1: a motive. But apparently he's said a lot of okbar
- 23:06Speaker 1: after the shooting or during the shooting.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:09Speaker 1: The Chicago police have identified him as Cidi Mohammed Abdallahi,
- 23:13Speaker 1: twenty two. He is charged with fourteen felonies, but not
- 23:17Speaker 1: with a hate crime, and certainly not getting national news coverage,
- 23:23Speaker 1: perhaps partly because there are suspicions that he is an
- 23:27Speaker 1: illegal immigrant and that that would not play well.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Right, That is it. They don't want this story before
- 23:35Speaker 3: the election, is how I see it. I actually broke
- 23:39Speaker 3: the story that he's an illegal immigrant. I have that
- 23:42Speaker 3: from a source. It has not been confirmed elsewhere. Sources
- 23:44Speaker 3: make mistakes sometimes, but I'm very very confident in my
- 23:48Speaker 3: sources information that he crossed illegally our southern border and
- 23:52Speaker 3: he's from Africa. Again, I think that's pretty obvious. It's
- 23:57Speaker 3: a hate crime, but the police department there is not
- 24:01Speaker 3: treating it as such, I'd love it more information on
- 24:04Speaker 3: why that is. I would love to hear from somebody
- 24:09Speaker 3: there as to what makes something a hate crime and
- 24:12Speaker 3: why this doesn't qualify.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it does seem like in the case of like,
- 24:16Speaker 1: I don't know, Jesse Smollett, we were able to come
- 24:18Speaker 1: to conclusions very quickly. Yeah, and those conclusions were not
- 24:22Speaker 1: at all true. Right, So perhaps with this information we
- 24:25Speaker 1: could come to reliable conclusions.
- 24:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 24:28Speaker 3: That would be nice. Yes, thanks for joining us on normally.
