- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Hi, Shannon.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Hello, longtime Ness E.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So welcome back to the Clean Business Live.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: I am your co-host, Jamie, and you are I'm Shannon.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: Because he's skimming my notes.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: I'm like, what am I supposed to say?
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: What am I supposed to do?
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: What highlight is that?
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: So today we're going to talk about when social media becomes a job.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Apparently, somewhere along the l the way, us owning uh owning a cleaning business turned into running a media company.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: And if you think about that in the grand sense of things, your your we've we've we've hit on this topic in a couple of episodes, but we've never really specifically called it out.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Your content is your media library.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: It is how you brand and position yourself.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: It is how you attract clients.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: It's how you don't attract clients.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of things that are behind the scenes.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: And trying to automate, and I I know we were talking about AI earlier, automate some of those processes really does help.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: But there are nuances, and you want to make sure that you are, and we've we've seen them.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: I made a post last month and I used it was an AI generated photo and it said it at the bottom because I know that everybody is like really touchy about it.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: The amount of I was I can't believe that you used an AI photo.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: If you read it all the way to the bottom, it says AI generated for privacy.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: It was just like, but it really upset a lot of people.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: So if you're using AI in your social media posts, make sure you put AI generated or AI enhanced or I did this for privacy, like I did with the that one cleaning, because I didn't A felt comfortable posting this information because I I didn't have I got kind of an okay, but I didn't get the legal, you know, scribble, scribble, scribble.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: I wanted to have something that was similar but not the same.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: And there is work that is involved with running this.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, we already run crews.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: We're dealing with clients, messages, payroll, taxes, you name it, we're doing it.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: And then now I have to worry about reels, posts, short-term, long-term, long-form posts, blog posts.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's all of this stuff that you have to kind of learn how to do if you don't know how to do it.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And what's before this ever even became a thing, social media, the internet, you guys gotta remember, I remember when Google came out.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I totally dated myself, but this was not a thing.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: And I'm trying to think, how did how did you do it?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: How did you guys do it without a some sort of digital brand?
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Print.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, digital print.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: And it has.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Now we're talking about doing reels, captions, thumbnails, hooks, engagement, analyticals.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Well, how many people are looking at your analyticals, your insights?
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: I am gonna make it all I'm like, woohoo, 46 cents!
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Yes, you're cross-posting, you're posting in all the your your local groups.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: That is part of branding.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: You're attending to your audio, you're your personality brand.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And at what point did social media become a second unpaid, by the way, a full-time job?
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: So let's do this.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about old school word-of-mouth advertising.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: I think that this, if you can get it, still works.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: But we have a lot of humans who don't want to engage from person to person.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, how many times have we been to a retail location?
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: If you still go to a retail location and you get eye contact and someone says, Hi, how's your day?
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: You're like floored.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: You're gonna acknowledge me, I'm not gonna be the person to just hand you money.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: Done.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: Word of mouth advertising is really hard to attain.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: I and I think that people would agree to disagree with me.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: It's almost a dying phase of advertising.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: If you can get someone who says, you know, Jamie and above all, cleaning is super duper awesome, and she does it all the time in person and online, reward that person because that is really hard to achieve to have someone take the time out of their day to do that for you.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Make sure you thank the people who are giving you the referrals or writing the five-star reviews.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: And there really was a lot of weird things that we did before social media.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: I as I just mentioned print.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: We ran, I ran print ads.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: I had an ongoing print ad for eight years in the Daily Career.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: I have little old ladies who would cut out that ad and they would hold on to it to the one time that they needed to, and they would hand you the clip of like the newspaper clip.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Right, I called you for years.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: This one you uh I also remember that you uh you were a kind of the leading in the industry then.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Be this is all before this uh social like Facebook and all this, before the regrouping.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Facebook became even popular, or you know, there's my space.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: The taxis, right?
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Tell them about tell our viewers about the taxis.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: Uh so I actually back in the day, and totally dating myself, and there actually still is a taxi company here in my town because all the other taxi places went out of business, and because the seniors, because I have a huge senior, don't know how to make the apps work, they still call a taxi.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: So she has four people working for her.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: I think it's awesome.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: I think I might actually advertise with her, but I haven't quite worked out all the details.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: But what I did is I paid to have a logo made and I put it on the back.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: And at the time, I believe it was nine or 10 different taxis.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: So as they drove through town, you would see Castle Keeper cleaning on the back of all of these cars.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: And I paid them, I worked out some sort of like fantastic deal.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: I think it was 195 bucks a month I paid for each vehicle, and it was like it was the best advertisement I could have ever asked for.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: Like having a wrap.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, because everybody saw the taxis, it's bright yellow and it just has this logo on the back.
- 7:45unknown: Yeah.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: That's literally the social media of the day.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Uh I just I love that story and and how far everything, but no, seriously, everything it is.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: It's a full-time job.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: And it's honestly, you guys, it's the one of the very first things that I was like, it's all I need to I need to delegate this, uh, and I need somebody to help me so that I don't lose my my brand.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: You have to do something.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you have to have something.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: And I do you have to have post every day.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I'll post three times a day.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: I'll have my VA post and then I'll jump in there and I'll post a couple more.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: Sarah is excellent for that, by the way, and we'll put her information in the show notes.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: But if you need someone to help you with this, I've seen people asking about inside of the maids network.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Ask, and if you're listening to this, I did tag Sidekick Sarah.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: I couldn't tag just Sarah Gardner in there.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: But anyway, I don't know why.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Sometimes it'll let you, sometimes it won't.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: So hopefully you hear this, and I would like to link her down on the bottom.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, it's become a full-time job because you're and we're not talking about the influencers, the clean, clean talk influencers.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: We're talking about your brand, your your thinking company.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: It's much easier and no no shade thrown to content creators, but it's easier whenever you're a solo cleaner, you have that time.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: You can set up your camera, you can do this.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Man, we're trying to grab.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Do we need to stop?
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: Because I can hear the dogs.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Is it your computer?
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: Do you want to go look?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's my new iMac.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: It could be.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: We can actually edit this out and then yeah, let's just edit this part out and just pick up.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Do you want to go look?
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: We'll just finish.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: All right, we'll edit this.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: We'll edit this part out.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: So that there, yeah, there was a lot of old school media forms.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: So I did print.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: Magazine print is really expensive.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, you still to this day, if you put an ad in a magazine, it can be$1,500 to$5,000 per episode that you're printing on, depending on the size and scope of what you're doing.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: Then you then you would have to pay, and now you can use AI to help you, but then you would have to pay a photographer to come take the shots.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: Then there's prep, and then you're having to do all this crazy stuff.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: There is another cleaning business owner here in Arizona who shall not be named, who I constantly see as advertising to have her crew go over to location and they get reimbursed a four-hour cleaning, not on that day, obviously, but another another opportunity.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: So that's something to think about as well.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: There really is a lot of pressure to post.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: So you know that you need to post.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: You don't know what to post or what that say in the post.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: And you're like, well, then what if they what if they respond to my post?
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: What do I say then?
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I just caught this three weeks later.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Did you still need help?
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: That is, but then you go in there, you can go into your whatever you're advertising, and nobody's got time for that.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: You literally have to dig about uh and teach yourself.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: It's like to have a marketer.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Like you like need a college degree almost for this.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: I want to talk about though a little bit how everyone presents themselves online and they always look a lot more successful than what they really are.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Fake perfection, right?
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Large creators with hidden teams of feeling behind.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: You're you're obvious you're you're doing a comparing yourself, and that that can check into your mental mental, you know.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Curated business success.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Some of these people Well mostly the curated, I believe.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: The curated business express, let's give you an example.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: For a year and a half, I belonged to the women's entrepreneur Facebook group.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: You can look, it's still there online.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: There's like 379,000 entrepreneurs worldwide.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: And I paid for the extra membership, the 97 bucks to be able to promote myself.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: For a full year, I did, I not I didn't get any ROI out of it.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: And then I started to see the patterns.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: And it was always some woman in front of her Tesla, and she's like, I made it large, don't you?
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: You know, private message me and I'll send you whatever it is.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: And it was just a total setup.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: They would never tell you, they never showed you Pinot.
- 13:11SPEAKER_02: They never, you know, they didn't tell, they never showed you the steps to get there.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: And I was just like, this is just a bunch of crap.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: So I was just like, it was a way.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: So that's an example of curated business success.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Or the Instagram, I always talk about this.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: I don't remember who I was telling this to the other day.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: Is you go to Instagram and they show you this beautiful sunset, and it's a model, and she's in her bikini, and it's some Hawaiian island or Tahiti or wherever.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: And then you look at the bottom of the real shot, the behind the scenes, and she's standing on a rock in a bunch of trash.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: She doesn't want to get off the rock because there's a bunch of trash.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love I love the feet, feet photo with the sunset and the on the what with their margarita held out.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: And it's a lot, isn't it?
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Which is it's great, but try to be.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: My big thing is being truthful and transparent.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: So I don't think that you would see Shannon on a rock with a bunch of trash, first of all.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Second of all, if I was genuinely there, I would try to show you a place that didn't have a bunch of trash.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Just how through the like you're gonna get a staph infection if you touch the water, it's like a little So don't don't compare yourself to others because if you do start this habit, a little bit every day will eventually get you to your goal.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: And I I want to say that again a little bit every day will eventually get you to your goal.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: Does it have to be 10 things?
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: No, it doesn't.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: Like, for example, when I do social media, I do it first thing in the morning.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: Sometimes I have things pre-planned out if I like something and it's whatever promo I'm doing or whatever course I'm doing, but I have an addition to.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: And it takes me about 45 minutes to come up with what I'm talking about, going with the hooks, trying to decide if I want content or no content, whatever hashtags.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: But a little bit every day will get you there.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: So don't become overwhelmed by oh my god, Shannon does all this crazy stuff, or Jamie does all this stuff, or Sarah does all this stuff.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: Just start small and basic.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Very, very, I can tell you there for me, it went viral.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: I had 600 and almost 700 likes on that post.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: What was it was real me.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: It was back whenever I still I was growing my business.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I had a B2 employees still, but I still totally working in the business in the field.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: I had my son's, I was moving from one car to another.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: I had to, which was my husband's car.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: He had my son's at that time, all his karate stuff, like his gi and his belt and his little whew! Yeah, what is those?
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: The the the stuff.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: And so I had to do that.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: I was still writing and I had a folder.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: I still writing in the this before I went digital, I was still writing in a notebook of appointments and everything.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: It was the business at that time.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: That was the brain of the business.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: And I had my purse, my car keys, and I had the I had my son's belt wrapped around my neck.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Like I can get all this in one trip.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: And one of my employees goes, Stop right there.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be a perfect I this is gonna be a perfect picture.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: And I threw it up and I said, Are you a busy mom or dad?
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: We understand.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And it just went for me, that's viral.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Whatever you said, 600 700.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: It was natural and it wasn't forced, but I did boost, though.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: It was the only time that I boosted a what is that?
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: The the like kind of like an ad just to see what it would do.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And it did, it went, it went up.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: But yes, people like to see real real stuff and personable, personable, that's it.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: And you have to remember too, so you have to start small, but a lot of the people, a lot of the bigger people, I mean I'm talking big people, like they have a team, an editor, like when you're looking at someone famous, those guys, when they say, Oh my god, I'm I love you.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: We've all seen the scam.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: I'm a general in the army and I live in Poland.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: And can you I can I can't reach out with like the weird stuff.
- 17:46SPEAKER_02: And you're like, they don't respond back.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: There's actually people running that page.
- 17:50SPEAKER_02: But they have large, they have an editor, an assistant, a social media manager, or uh and a husband holding the camera and it's constantly curated.
- 17:58SPEAKER_02: And there's nothing wrong with that, but just know what you're engaging with, right?
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: That's probably not gonna get you the same person as someone who doesn't have all that.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: And don't let it be a comparison either that I'm never gonna get there because you will get there.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: It just takes a little bit of effort to do it.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: And you will find business owners that are comparing themselves while folding microcloping microfibers at at 11 o'clock at night.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: I hope that you are not doing that, but it I'm guilty of it, you know, I gotta get this laundry done.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: You're just totally tired, yeah.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: We've been there.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: You're you're doing your own laundry still, you're you're doing all the scheduling.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: But yeah, the the internet always makes people look richer, more happier, more fabulous, more organized, because that's not the shot that you want to get.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: You know, that's not the shot.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: You want to show the shot where everything's perfect.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: And that's you know, it's just social media has turned everybody into a motivational speaker.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: I I think there's a lot of truth to that.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: With a camera with a camera and then sometimes that's sometimes that is life and sometimes it's not.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: It's just, you know, knowing when to what to err and not error.
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: I mean, we've I've mentioned before, we might have mentioned, we might have edited it out, but uh that we have a mom's group here, and sometimes inside the mom's group, a lot of things get shared that I'm just shocked over.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: I have a filter, ladies, have a filter.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: So just that there's that element too.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: So you've got to make sure that everything isn't curated and scripted, but it does at least legitimately look real.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: And then it says half the internet is just people aggressively pointing at text boxes.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: I don't know if they're aggressively pointing at a text box per se, but they are looking at what to say, and sometimes you can have a brilliant idea because the shower guys have delivered, and sometimes you can go to AI and help you out.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: And then every platform really wants a different version of you.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Don't make it that complicated.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: No.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: There is no way I'm gonna do four different versions of the same thing.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: I just typically clip it out, post it up, put a you know, caption in there and be done.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Copy, paste, copy, paste, copy, paste.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: It's because we, you know, again, 11 o'clock at night, folding microfiber cloths.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: You gotta fit, you know, where you gotta do what you can only do, right?
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: And there are talking points and different points of view from TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: There's you know, we all know that YouTube is long form.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: They all have a different, a different audience.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: They all have a different view, you know.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: It's so yeah.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's the short form form versus the long form.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: There's uh different there, they are they're different audience everywhere, constant adaption fatigue.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: Yes, that can be hard to deal with as well because it's constant.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: And I like I don't remember who I was mentioning this to.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: With social media, it feels like we're on the hamster wheel, right?
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: We're constantly on the hamster.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: I'm the hamster that goes around like this, and then I'm stuck on the bottom and I swing around and I swing around.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: I'm not running anymore, I just swing some more and I just swing again.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: And then we've all seen the the hairless cats on the hamster wheels, and they're like running full speed on the huge hamster wheel that's like five feet off the ground.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: It's or even the the circus people with the ball and the motorcycle, and you're like, oh my god, this is just wild.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: You don't have to be on it all the time, just don't get overwhelmed with it.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: And there is a huge difference between short form and long form.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: As we just mentioned, YouTube is more long form, TikTok and Instagram is gonna be short form, and when you're looking for an editor to help you out, make sure that you understand what the difference is between short form and long form content.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: And YouTube just started doing reels, I think just a couple years ago, and that was a shock.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: I was like, I never thought that YouTube would ever they're constantly coming at me for advertising in the reels, and um uh it's a pretty good idea because that's all like my son and my husband.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: I noticed that's all they watch, right?
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: You know, so they're not they're not the Facebook people or Instagram, they are YouTube reels.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: But yeah, Instagram, they want the aesthetics, which is uh more video tick tocks they want chaos.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Always.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Facebook wants drama and LinkedIn really wants you to pretend like you love corporate leadership.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: I think that's true to some degree.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: I'm like, how often do I post on LinkedIn versus Facebook?
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, I really I post there because I'm supposed to have a presence there, but I'm like Yeah, I know.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: I try to too.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: And then and then I even bumped it up to the premium.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: The premium because it was like all these people were viewing my file.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, who's viewing my file?
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: See what I mean about social media?
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: I'm like, who's viewing my file?
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And of course, it's all cleaning business owners, but still, you just wanted to see LinkedIn doesn't allow that.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: It's like, well, you need a premium if you want to see that.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, we're canceling that.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: So at one point you just figure out one platform and stick with it.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: And then you can kind of branch off if you choose to do so.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: You're not obligated to do all the platforms every single day.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: I do recommend that you get some sort of scheduler for you.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: And then as you get bigger, we can talk about the nuances of the stats and the algorithm and everything else.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: But that will help you be able to post faster.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: It used to be before they had the digital calendar system, so to speak, of your content, you had to do it by hand and post one in one group.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: Remember that?
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: You had to post one in one group, one in another group, one in another group.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: You couldn't massively collect all of the stuff and post it there.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: Then it when you have the like Pebbler is what I use.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: I have a lifetime, two of them.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: I can actually, all of my groups are all clustered together so I can automatically post.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: I don't have to go.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: And then when I go outside of my circle is when I have to do them individually.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Dan Young is great for helping come up with ideas for cleaning content.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: That's another person.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Who is it?
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Say it one more time.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Dan Young.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: He's the one that's clear.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Dan Young is great for that.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: For cleaning content, he he works only with the cleaning industry.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: I don't know if he branched off, but I know it started with the cleaning industry.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: And he helps with that part of content creating.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: But you can go into I'm gonna just use Facebook because that's what I use.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: And they have so much information in there.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: And you just read scary.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: You have too much information.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: You read it, and yeah, it it'll give you ideas and how to post.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: And you know if you wanted to take your your business that direction of becoming an influencer or not, which I feel like is honestly, you're gonna either run your cleaning business or you're gonna run a social media platform.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Not to say that you don't post all the time on social media because you're running a business, but if you're like I said, if you're going to be a a content influencer, it's more I feel like that's more of a solo, it's two full-time jobs.
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: It would be two full-time jobs, and it just And let's be honest, the internet always asks for more.
- 26:16SPEAKER_02: It's like it never, like I said, it's the hamster wheel.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: You're just constantly on the hamster wheel.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Give it to me, give it to me, give it to me.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: What and then what is it?
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: If you disappear for even three days, I think it just Instagram acts like you just died.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: Facebook acts like you just died.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: I can't tell you how many times I've seen people like they've taken a step back for a mental health day and their numbers have just like like they died.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: Like they're no longer in business.
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: And you have to remember that if your stats go down, the world will not end.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: And it will be okay.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: I know some of you guys on social media are making thousands and thousands of dollars.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: I get that, but at the same level for small operator, it will be okay for your stats to go down and you take a break.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: Does it take a while to catch back up?
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: Yes, but it's okay.
- 27:21SPEAKER_02: The world will not end if that happens.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: And the internet does reward consistency, but your nervous system eventually files complaint.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: And that's when you were just talking about Jamie about taking a mental health break.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: And you know, if you can be over-stimulated too, like if you spend too much time watching reels when doing Doom scrolling, you can overstimulate yourself and actually have problems sleeping.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: So don't do that.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: With the that's putting everything in its own time, right?
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Well, isn't that why they put those blue screens or that blue something in there?
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: Because it's like, okay, you need to check out.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Time to check out, but we're gonna put this screen on for nighttime.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: It's nighttime.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: Please look up from your phone.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we have a rule in our house that we have no more devices after 8 p.m.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Uh it needs to yes, it needs to turn off and just come back to I just I don't know.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: I can look around in my own household, you guys, and I just everybody is like looking down at their phones or they're watching TV and you're talking, and so uh-huh.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: That's how it is when you go out to dinner.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like it's I'm like, no, we're not doing this.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, turn off everything turns down at about that time.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: And then nothing, I'm gonna say this nothing ages faster than content.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: You work for an hour on the past and it survives 14 minutes.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: The internet rewards consistency, but your nervous system eventually files a complaint.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: And at some point you realize your phone is basically your middle manager, right?
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: That's actually pretty true.
- 29:17SPEAKER_02: I like those.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: And then you'll find too that everybody is on social selling something now.
- 29:23SPEAKER_02: That I mean, you can sell digital products, you can sell books, you can sell um white pages, you can sell access to you.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's you can resell books.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: I've seen all kinds of things being sold on the internet and social media, and that's actually just gonna expand because we're in the information age.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: That's just what it's that time period is.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: And you're gonna see coaches everywhere, gurus everywhere, six figures in six minutes.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: I did this in 32 days, or I had a lunch break and I made a book.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: What was the last one I said?
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: I can make a book on my lunch break.
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my God, have you ever made a book?
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: It's not, it's not 40 minutes.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: It takes hours of dedication, even with the help of some of the tech.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Constant marketing noise, and then there's a huge, huge, huge amount of audience distrust.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: Hence the reason why everyone got mad over that AI photo.
- 30:21SPEAKER_02: I'm like, but if you read the bottom, you would know.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:25SPEAKER_02: I tried to be transparent.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: I I remember there was a couple people, whenever that whole trend of making the cartoon character, the curated cartoon character, there was a couple of people that said some not so nice things about that.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, I didn't, you know, the scroll on by.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: And then content creator is it's invisible labor.
- 31:05SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think back to like Amber and Samantha and how much they put into their channels and what's going on.
- 31:11SPEAKER_02: I don't I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head that I follow as far as clean talk.
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: But it it is an it's invisible labor and it does take effort, regardless if you like it or not.
- 31:22SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of effort put into what they what they create and have to think about and shoot and all this other stuff.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: And it can lead to like emotional exhaustion.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: It can push your mental load capacity.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: It also creates decision fatigue.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: You're so overwhelmed, you just don't have any more to output.
- 31:41SPEAKER_02: Especially if you've done a lot of work on the internet to make a lot of reels all at once.
- 31:45SPEAKER_02: I talked to someone one time and they're like, I made 57 reels.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: I'm like, 57 reels?
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's a lot.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: That is.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: And then there's planning content, what to plan versus not plan.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: Believe it or not, Jamie and I plan out the whole year with the podcast before it even hits the end of the year because we like to plan because we both have small kids.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: Well, not they're not small anymore, but you know what I mean.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: We also work.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm building a whole business.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: I do manage a team.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: You know, so we definitely talk about it a lot though.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: And and that just, you know, we talk about the block's time pickup and drop off.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: For all of the moms out there and the dads.
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: But people see a 30-second clip and they don't see the three hours of mental resistance before filming it.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: And it's true, it's that you set you set up more for the shot when you're doing photography than anything else.
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: It could take you because you keep having to look through the lens.
- 32:46SPEAKER_02: You're like, like, for example, I'm gonna show you.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: Look at this.
- 32:49SPEAKER_02: See Bob Ross?
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: He's got my Halloween wig on.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 32:54SPEAKER_02: It's a rock star wig from the 80s.
- 32:55SPEAKER_02: And I told my kids I bought it at a yard sale.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I'm wearing this for Halloween.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna be like a CDs rock star.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: And they're like, with the 80s.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Yes, I see it.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: I see it.
- 33:07SPEAKER_02: And it fits my head perfectly.
- 33:09SPEAKER_02: My husband's like, that is hideous.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I love it.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's with the leg warmers on your arms and the band.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: Like the lightning bolt.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna look for a lightning bolt muscle skirt with like skin tight pants.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: I have a outfit, I a whole outfit.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: It's a little skirt, super neon colors everywhere, leg warmers on hot pink leg warmers on the bottom with all the plastic bangles.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: And the lightning bolts.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: I love it too.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna do that for Halloween.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, they don't they don't see what the work that's behind it.
- 33:42SPEAKER_02: They just, and it's it's always about consumption.
- 33:44SPEAKER_02: Consumption's consumption.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: So sometimes you're not tired from business, you're just tired from thinking about your business.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: So make sure that you, if you can't do it yourself, that you delegate to someone like Sarah or Dan Young or whatever, whatever you decide is in the budget.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: And business owners are expected to work all day and then become entertainers at night.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: I think this is a really unrealistic expectation.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: There, this is why I talk about boundaries and systems all of the time.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: You need to have time with your family.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: Whether whoever that family is, you need to spend time with that person or your pets or whatever it is.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: You need to spend, don't spend more time on your phone.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: Spend time with others, other humans.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: Don't forget, I you got full transparency here while building this business to get to here.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: I did that.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: I was there.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: I was in the the home with them, but I was either up at you know all hours of the night, just marketing myself, trying to learn and figure this stuff out.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: I wasn't there.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: I was there physically, but mentally, I was not there.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: Presence.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: Remember, be mindful of that, that your family is there and they're still, they need you.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: So waiting for you to be there.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely burn out from visibility.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: There just comes a time, and that's that's your body and your psyche saying, Okay, I need to take a vacation or take a couple days off or do whatever.
- 35:24SPEAKER_02: Because we're so accessible, I think this causes a little bit of friction because business owners are losing the ability to be offline.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: Where, like, for example, the internet.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: When the internet goes down, it seems like the world is gonna collapse.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: I'm like, God, why did this become a thing?
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: It is true.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: Was that you can't process it?
- 35:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think that was last year.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: You can't process, we couldn't do the show, you couldn't process credit cards, the banks were shut down for a day.
- 35:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, there was like the airplane.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: And it was like, but you could still message people, and everybody's what's going on?
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: Is this happening to you?
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: I was just that was and then it was like that became scary, but yeah, talking point, uh, notifications, DMs, constant accessibility, never unplugging work life blur, and we just touched on that.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: The work life blur again.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm not ashamed to say it, but it's like I was again physically here, but I was not here.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: I was sitting there building and building and building and building.
- 36:37SPEAKER_00: And the lines do they get kind of misconstrued of everything, you know?
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: There used to be business hours, right?
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: When did the you know, where's the business hours stop?
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: I think that because of social media, they think that you can, you know, that you're just there, right?
- 36:55SPEAKER_02: I can't tell you how many times I get someone on the weekend at 11 o'clock at night going, Where are you?
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: I need an answer.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: I'm like, dude, it's 11 o'clock at night.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: I don't look at my phone.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: I don't, honestly, I don't look at my phone after like seven.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: And even then, you better be my mom.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not talking to you.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have a something on my phone where I automatically go silent after I believe it's seven.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I believe it's seven up to then.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: But we were also taught, I've been taught that whenever you're like your Google business profile and stuff, you're supposed to have 24 hours.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: You know, somebody that is looking for your your uh a cleaner in your area.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: Are they gonna go to and these are for like say a nurse that's working 20, 12 hours and they get off at 11 o'clock and they're looking for they're gonna skip now.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: This is what maybe it was Google, they're gonna skip over somebody that's like nine to five hours, you know, working nine to five, versus somebody that has something that's uh for 24 hours.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: So even even that, that's a hook.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: That's a hook to be constantly on some sort of form of social media.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: We're constantly on.
- 38:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: And and it used to be that your phone was a was a you know a tool.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: And sometimes your phone can feel like an ankle monitor.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: I mean that in the nicest form, but it really can it can be like your possibility.
- 38:39SPEAKER_02: If you go to for the other day, I forgot we got in the car and I forgot my phone.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my god, what if my mom calls?
- 38:44SPEAKER_02: Then I had to go all the way back because I couldn't go like 15 minutes on my phone.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my god, I'm addicted to my phone.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: But then I'm like, well, what if I get a call from a client?
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: What about this?
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: So your mind starts to spiral, and it's just this whole expectation that you your phone is hooked in.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: There's even movies now where they're like, I'm talking right here, I have a microchip, and like I never want one of those, but it re it could go in that direction.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: My husband has it, he has a watch.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: He has an Apple Watch, and so does one of my employees, Erica has one, and it'll say at the bottom of the text if they use that, but it was sent with Siri.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: So they talk into it without even using their phone.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: They talk into it and they send the message, and it was like, what?
- 39:30SPEAKER_02: From the home.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: Actually, if you notice, I'm not wearing I have an Apple watch that I don't use that I have.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: Nope, I don't have one, but I don't know where it's at anymore.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, no, I'm good.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's you're answering client messages while standing in line at Costco.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: Because that's so true.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: That's so true.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Or at my son's baseball games.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: We're doing baseball.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: I can speak on this right now because I'm watching, you know, trying to be there, present, I'm there, but then you get the phone call.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: You know, I it's like uh this just happened to me yesterday.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: I got the phone call answering, answering thing.
- 40:14SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you know, they're getting ready to go up to bat.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: And my phone rang because I forgot to turn it on to do not disturb while we're at the baseball game, and I had to take it.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: I'm glad I took it, but it feels like a ball and chain, doesn't it?
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: Sometimes definitely.
- 40:31SPEAKER_02: So let's talk about some strategies that actually work.
- 40:34SPEAKER_02: My number one thing that I like, and before I say this, let me preface.
- 40:39SPEAKER_02: I've been doing the content creation thing for five, six years now.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: Six years, full full time.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: Like I have 28 terabytes, which is a lot of content.
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: A lot.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: 28 terabytes.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: So I lit legitimately like these little things.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: I got like six, six or seven of these bad boys.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: And each one of these is like six terabytes.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: And they and I fill up one halfway through the year.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: So what you can do to help, not help you, you know, like, oh my god, what am I gonna do?
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: How am I gonna get this?
- 41:10SPEAKER_02: Is you can repurpose a lot of your content.
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: One and then there's a there's a strategy, and I can't remember the name it's called, but you can take one short clip form.
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: Well, you take a long form content, you can break it into smaller clips, and you take the smaller clips, you can make a blog post from it, then you can make a short form blog post.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: That way they see the same thing, but it's hitting different markets.
- 41:30SPEAKER_02: And what I mean like by that is Jamie and I were just talking about Instagram has a different market, TikTok has a different market, Facebook has a different market, LinkedIn is all corporate business, and then you can kind of strategize and see what works, and then you test.
- 41:43SPEAKER_02: You could do a B testing, right?
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: You don't have to say A B testing, but you just have to start to track and trace to see what's working, right?
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 41:51SPEAKER_02: Batch recording is something that Jamie and I do relentlessly with the podcast.
- 41:55SPEAKER_02: We right now only this for 2026, we only film on Thursdays, the first two Thursdays of the month.
- 42:02SPEAKER_02: So if you're a guest and you can't make it, we'll push you to the next month.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: And that was a commitment that she and I made at the end of last year because drop off and pickup.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: So batching everything makes everything run smoother, and then you're not spending all this time doing all of this crazy legwork.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: Reposting older material, my digital calendar system.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: When I post a post in in Puebler, I actually recycle it four more times.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: So you'll see the same post, but you won't see it right away.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: I'll post it one month, then I'll post it two months, and then I'll post it again three months.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: And then that way I'm filling up this because there's people who still haven't seen, because in your mind, oh my god, I've seen this video like 82 times, and they're like, Oh, I just caught this video you did.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: You're like, see, it's so you just it you can repurpose.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 42:48SPEAKER_02: And then picking fewer platforms, you do not have to be on every platform.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: You don't.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: You can just pick one, and that will be okay.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: The world will not end.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's yeah.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: Uh we we stick with Facebook.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: Uh Instagram, I'm still even even still to this day.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: I'm don't I don't I don't understand.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do, but I'm like, okay, how do I even post here?
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: I so it's a it's you don't post enough to actually be familiar with how to make it work.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: And then picking sustainable systems, stick with stuff that's easy.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: Don't make it hard on yourself.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: It's overwhelming.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: If you're gonna DIY it, it's overwhelming to try to do it all on your own.
- 43:33SPEAKER_02: Pick one and done and just be happy with that.
- 43:35SPEAKER_02: And then as you get better and faster, if you want to add on a second one, it can, or you can get a scheduling program.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: I know that Facebook has one that's free.
- 43:45SPEAKER_02: Canva has one that's free.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: Prebbler, I bought off of App Sumo.
- 43:49SPEAKER_02: So I have two of them and I got a lifetime value.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: I think I paid 79 bucks at the time.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: I don't even remember.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: But they're lifetime.
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: I have them forever, right?
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: So those are something that you can do to help post.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Or you can get Sarah or have Dan or any of those people are more than happy to help you do and get that stuff out.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: If you've noticed too, and this is just an observation, and there's nothing wrong with this, but sometimes cleaning companies become media companies as well, and they help other smaller businesses with posting of their social media.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: So there's always that option to do as well, should you choose to go down that path.
- 44:28SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: I've seen it.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: I've actually had somebody reach out to me that not reached out, they reached out and you know, they they and especially if they're local in your area.
- 44:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I like that.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: You know the layout, they know the layout of the land.
- 44:46SPEAKER_00: Even though they are another cleaning business company, we still talk and we still you guys know how much I love collaborating with especially my local cleaning uh business owners.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, who who else knows uh the our client, our social media, what what's working for them?
- 45:12SPEAKER_00: They know the demographics, you know.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: So that that's always an option.
- 45:19SPEAKER_00: But yeah.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: So we're building a a business.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Not a performance.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: So every piece of content does not to it doesn't have to be a cinematic masterpiece.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: You can make mistakes.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: P you're gonna notice it before they're gonna notice it.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: You can make mistakes and go, oh my gosh.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: That was awful.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: Comparing myself to all these other businesses, I thought I needed to have all these special apps like cap cuts and doing this and doing that.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: I think I tried it for a month.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: I do, I did, I got cap cuts.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: But in the beginning, it was like I try trying to just on one post.
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: You're trying to make it perfect and let it glide easy.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: And it's like I just I'm like, I got more things that are really a lot more important.
- 46:20SPEAKER_00: I know that this part is important to have a brand recognition here.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: And this is just one layer of networking.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: One layer, one small piece of the puzzle.
- 46:33SPEAKER_02: So by doing this, you give yourself some long-term sustainability because when in it we're such busy and our ADD is all over the place, and everyone has it because our attention spans are very, very short.
- 46:44SPEAKER_02: It it used to take like seven times to make an impression.
- 46:47SPEAKER_02: I think it's like 24 or 30 impressions before someone goes, Hey, I remember seeing that.
- 46:51SPEAKER_02: It's really kind of sad.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: And then systems before speed, work with the system that is easiest.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: Don't make it more complicated and get cat cuts and then video shop and then this other thing over here.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: Just pick one, learn it, and if you don't like it, stop it and start another one.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: But it just don't make it more complicated than it needs to be because that makes it harder on you.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Um, and then legacy over virality, virality, enunciation.
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: Haven't got enough coffee, virality, basically.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: That's that's what I'm trying to enunciate is easier.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: Stick with what you know.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: And if you want to try something and you have caught up and you're in a different position and then doing both, just pick something and run with it.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: And then trust over attention.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: People, especially, we were just talking about this in the interview with someone else.
- 47:48SPEAKER_02: We are a trust-based industry.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: You are selling trust.
- 47:54SPEAKER_02: Yes, you're selling cleaning, but you're selling trust, right?
- 47:57SPEAKER_02: Trust that you're gonna show up, trust that your cleaning techs are background checked and they know what they're doing.
- 48:03SPEAKER_02: Trust that you know, you nothing bad's gonna be broken.
- 48:06SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of trust in our industry.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: Yes, and then there's the real business versus the internet image, and there's a lot of like let's make this look right.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: Look at that filter, that's fantastic.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: Um a real business should exist even if you take a nap.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: So that don't be your own bottleneck.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: And what did what is Libby say one layer deep?
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: Oh yes.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: Go, Libby, go, Libby.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: I think that's a lot of us business owners.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: We are the bottleneck.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, we are that because it's very hard to learn how to delegate something with your it's your baby, but you won't ever be able to scale if you don't ask for that.
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: So yeah, if you do if you take if you take a pause for three days, your business will still be running.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: It's okay, it'll still exist.
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: Not every successful business owner wants to become an influencer.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: True.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: I that's not I thought I did until I ran, you know, we did those interviews.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: I don't know which episodes they are, but we did a couple of interviews with some influencers, and I realized really quickly which direction did I want to go?
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: Did I want to become an influencer or did I want to scale my business?
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: And I I wanted to scale my business because that an influencer that is their full-time job.
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: On top of them cleaning.
- 49:44SPEAKER_02: They got two jobs.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: My father, I got five jobs.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: But that's the that's the direction that they wanted to go to, you know.
- 49:51SPEAKER_02: And it's okay.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: Whatever you choose to do is totally okay with us.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: Makes no difference to us at all.
- 49:57SPEAKER_02: We're just here to guide you with information.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: So some of the business operators are too busy making money to look famous online.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: You do not need to emotionally perform for the internet every single day to be successful.
- 50:14SPEAKER_00: True.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: Even though sometimes we feel like it.
- 50:19SPEAKER_00: You know, we built businesses.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: Somehow we accidentally also became content factories.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: Amen to that.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: It's true.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: That is so true.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, if gosh, it's just I do something twice a year or once a year.
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: I it may jump up to twice a year, and where I actually hire a professional photographer to come in and take pictures professionally of my people.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: And then I'll we'll reuse and reuse and reuse those photos in different different posts, and I'll be the same picture, but the post title will be different, you know?
- 51:13SPEAKER_02: So definitely, and maybe that's the real conversation that nobody talks about enough is you know, it's okay to not have to perform and be on the hamster all the time.
- 51:24SPEAKER_02: I think a lot of business owners are quietly exhausted and and it's overwhelming.
- 51:28SPEAKER_02: Like, I know I need to do this, so how do I get this done?
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: Here, just do it, right?
- 51:33SPEAKER_02: And maybe the answer isn't posting more, it's about thinking a little bit further down the line on what you want to do.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: Jamie just mentioned she has the same photograph, she has a different hook, a different content.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: You can do long form content, short form content, you can blur about people do stories all the time.
- 51:50SPEAKER_02: I suck at stories.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: I hate it's tedious for me.
- 51:53SPEAKER_02: It's not something that's why you never see me post stories.
- 51:56SPEAKER_02: Once in a while, I will, but I don't like the tediousness of having to do one, two, three.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, right.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: I don't have it in me.
- 52:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, put this in, and it's like right.
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: I'm like, nope, that's not me.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I hate, and you can you can tell I hate to do stories.
- 52:11SPEAKER_02: Um and so that maybe the answer is building systems that you just help you stay visible and and top of mind.
- 52:18SPEAKER_02: That's okay.
- 52:19SPEAKER_02: It doesn't have to be a success, it doesn't have to go viral, but as long as you're present, because more and more people are finally on the internet, and more and more people are finally on Facebook.
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, a lot, I don't remember what they said, the population of the United States, and they gave some like I think 88% of the population of the United States is on Facebook at any given time during the day.
- 52:40SPEAKER_02: And they said worldwide, it's like 92 or 93 percent of the population.
- 52:45SPEAKER_02: I'm like, that many people are on Facebook, but it's true.
- 52:48SPEAKER_02: And I could be wrong, it was an old article I read, so maybe that's changed.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: But this concludes our uh social media becomes a job podcast.
- 53:03SPEAKER_00: Please like, share, subscribe so that we can reach more people, feed that algorithm.
- 53:11SPEAKER_02: Definitely.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: And we will see you on the next show, right?
- 53:17SPEAKER_02: Just appreciate you guys.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: Take care.
- 53:19SPEAKER_01: Thank you for so much.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: Bye.
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: Bye in session.
