- 2:52Brad Mcalehenny, Brad, good morning, how are you sir? Oh Hi,
- 2:55I'm doing well. I hope you are too. I am doing fine.
- 2:59Our we had lots of stuff I want to get to you with you
- 3:01this morning, Brady. Our congressional delegation are really putting the heat on the
- 3:08Biden administration to get to the table as the country has a deadline for this
- 3:14debt payment. Congressman and now Sendate Canada Alex Mooney was on talk line y
- 3:17afterday talking about a senator's Capital and Mansion are on the same page here Congressman
- 3:22McCarroll Miller as well. You get stories posted about it on the website lead
- 3:24story as a matter of fact on the website. Not too often when you
- 3:29can get people on the same page as much as they are at especially when
- 3:31one as a Democrat, albeit Joe Mansion, but again the stories posted at
- 3:35wv metronews dot com. What's your take on this whole thing? Well,
- 3:39I mean, you know, if something isn't resolved, then the potential of
- 3:45not dealing with the debt ceiling could mean just economic peril for the country and
- 3:51for the world. The West virgin Is congressional representatives Mansion, Capitol, Mooney
- 3:58Miller make the case that the federal spending is just far beyond what it needs
- 4:04to be and that it makes sense to do some negotiation now, particularly between
- 4:12President Biden and Speaker McCarthy, So you know, who knows how much sway
- 4:18they may have. M Mansion might have more than the others, just because
- 4:23of his unique position as sort of the you know, still the fiftieth vote
- 4:30in a in a deadlock Senate um. But you know they're they're you at
- 4:35least know where they stand, and they are trying to put whatever pressure that
- 4:39they can on President Biden to come to the table. Within the last couple
- 4:43of days, President Biden did invite Speaker McCarthy, the House Minority Leader Kim
- 4:50Jefferies Uh, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, and Senate Minority Leader McConnell to a
- 4:57main ninth meeting where they're going to hash the stuff out. So they are
- 5:01coming to the table. Why why May ninth? I am I am not
- 5:04sure. It seems like it seems like every moment that passes, as Senator
- 5:09Manson said, the nation gets closer to that debt limit headline, which is
- 5:14now, we believe June first, the country stops being able to pay all
- 5:16the pills. So May ninth is a key date. All right, And
- 5:19again you got the DA story posted wv metronews dot com. Let's go a
- 5:25state side here for a moment, Brad. Do we have another state led
- 5:27officeholder who is elected to state Senate last November? Mike Stewart last night announcing
- 5:32he's running for a West Virginia Attorney general. No surprise, everyone knew that
- 5:36that was coming. He was going to run. I think what is problematic
- 5:41to some people though, in fact, unlike a few others that are running
- 5:46for different offices. You know, think Governor Jim Justice, who is now
- 5:47running for Senate after serving as governor. J B. Mccusky state auditor,
- 5:51now running for Governor Macwarner, who will be on the show later who's been
- 5:56serving as Secretary of State now is going to run for governor at the current
- 5:59age Patrick Morrissey started with in that role now running for governor. In fact,
- 6:03I guess, with all due respect to Senator Stewart, he's only been
- 6:06in office for a couple of months as a state Senator, in fact,
- 6:10only one session, an interim, a couple of caucuses here there, before
- 6:13running for something else. The State Democratic Party, in fact, last night
- 6:16issued a statement after the Mike Stewart for age announcements saying, quote, the
- 6:21paint was barely dry on Mike Stewart's office. What do you what's your take
- 6:28on this? The Democrats did some math the lead statement and what they put
- 6:35out was today, after completing just eleven percent of his term in the Western
- 6:40East State Senate, Mike Stewart announced his decision to run for attorney in general.
- 6:44So eleven percent is, I mean, kind of a puny number.
- 6:51So Stewart has been high profile in a variety of other positions. He is
- 6:57a former state Party chairman. He is the former US prosecutor for the southern
- 7:03counties of West Virginia. And you know, I don't if you already had
- 7:09that background, I don't think it would be I don't think people would regard
- 7:13it as crazy to announce your campaign for attorney in general. But he really
- 7:19did just defeat incumbent Ron Stallings and did his first regular session of the legislature
- 7:28representing a newly redistricted area of Kanala, Boon, some other sort of south
- 7:35central West Virginia counties. You know, the one thing is he doesn't put
- 7:42that seat now in peril by running for this bonus. He's off years.
- 7:46So he just got elected. He sits the next election out for Senate and
- 7:53then is up again in twenty twenty six, so he retains the Senate seat
- 7:59but has this bonus of being able to run for US. Yeah, and
- 8:01if something happens he doesn't win. I mean, we know that Ryan Weld,
- 8:05also a state Senator, is going to run. So something happens to
- 8:07Stewart doesn't win the race, then he's still he's still a senator. Yeah,
- 8:13you know, I'll tell you what that's going to be interesting in the
- 8:15nuts legislative session. Weld is a member of leadership. He is sort of
- 8:20a more I guess, traditional Republican um. His score with the Chamber of
- 8:28Commerce on their scorecard was uh Stuarts. To his chagrin, he tweeted about
- 8:35this was significantly lower on that Chamber scorecard. Stewart is more in the populist
- 8:41wing of the party. And you know, you could see the fractions even
- 8:48within the supermajority in the Senate as as this most recent session played out.
- 8:52So I don't I will assume that the bos Weld and Stewart are gentlemen,
- 8:58and they will, you know, they will be polite to each other during
- 9:03the next regular session. But I sure think that there will be ways in
- 9:07which they will differentiate them. So yeah, even while serving on the Senate
- 9:11Judiciary Committee and how they went on the floor. Well, Mike Stewart will
- 9:16be on the show tomorrow. By the way, I don't want to speak
- 9:18for him. He'll actually be on the show to morn and I think if
- 9:20I if I'm not mistaken, I think he was, He's gonna be on
- 9:22Dave Wilson, who's subbing for Hoppy for the next two weeks. I think
- 9:26he's going to be on on Dave should I think I think I'm correct about
- 9:28that is true, Okay, and then Mike Stewart of course will be on
- 9:31this show tomorrow. Let's talking about Governor Justice. Um, you know you
- 9:35and I have talked about I know Hoppy has to Greg Thomas and I talked
- 9:37about it a little bit yesterday. If if Governor Justice is elected Senator m
- 9:43Brad, what s that gould look like for him? And I say that
- 9:46because you know, Greg kind of alluded to the fact that, um,
- 9:48that he wouldn't have to be there all the time, that many meetings would
- 9:52not involve him. And and I don't know, you certainly know better than
- 9:56I do, but it seems to me, maybe they're just over shivers,
- 10:00but it seems to the Senator capital is there a heck of a lot.
- 10:03It seems that Joe mansion and is there a lot? And when they're not
- 10:07in DC, there tore in a plant or or a prison or something like
- 10:11that. And you know, Greg really didn't answer that as much yesterday as
- 10:16I would like for him too. If Jim Justice is elected for Senate,
- 10:22can he handle it? You know when when he was on with the copy
- 10:31last week, the governor seemed to still be thinking through how it would actually
- 10:37work. And you know, he answered that question a couple of times about
- 10:41like what would your life be like in Washington, DC? I mean,
- 10:45surely he's not going to live in a house but the way Mounton does.
- 10:48But he alluded to the idea that his businesses have you know, planes,
- 10:54and he potentially could could use that plane to get back and forth, hopefully
- 10:58not on daily rasis. He he does seem to like the comforts of home.
- 11:07You know, he he had a court challenge about continuing to live in
- 11:11Lewisburg. He has continued to coach the girls basketball team, makes that commitment
- 11:16every winter. He loves being with his dog. I don't know if you
- 11:20know that, but he loves being with his dog. I've seen pictures.
- 11:24Yeah, Um, he is in Louisbourg still to the degree that when the
- 11:30state police superintendent quit his job under pressure, he did so on the Governor's
- 11:37Lewisburg driveway at like nine o'clock this morning. So I also am trying to
- 11:43wrap my mind around how the governor thinks he may moon is living in DC
- 11:50in Arlington, having a second home. He just really appears to love being
- 11:58home and being the coach and be with his dog, and I actually actually
- 12:05serving is something I'm still thinking through. All Right, Well, we'll see
- 12:07how that's all going to play out. One of the things before we let
- 12:11you go, Everyone's favorite subject, Brad, is power bills. Now,
- 12:13you posted a story Monday that Appalachian Power is asking for a six hundred forty
- 12:18one million dollar quote recovery cost end quote. They did that long with Wheeling
- 12:24Power and Friday that request filed with the Public Service Commission. What do you
- 12:28have on that? Well, you know, these these increases have been painful
- 12:33for people. Your your power bill, no matter what your company, has
- 12:37probably gone up over and over and over the Water Company West Virginia, americ
- 12:41from Water is asking for increased rates almost at the same time, and of
- 12:46course you know they're thinking independently. What they say they need doesn't really take
- 12:52your power bill into account at the electric at the water company. What the
- 12:58water company, though, is is sorry, what the power company, what
- 13:01Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power are suggesting be done, is either to take their
- 13:09six hundred some million dollars and spread it over three years to to sort of
- 13:15average that out over a three year span. Or what they're doing is something
- 13:20a legislature allowed with the new bills this year if the governor signed it essentially
- 13:26to take out bonds, so they basically would would take out would would would
- 13:33put out bonds for sale to bond holders, and then they would pay them
- 13:37off, serving as a cushion for the rate payers. They still to pay
- 13:41it off, but you know, it's it's a tough time because there have
- 13:46been inflationary pressures. The cost of fuel has gone up, and the companies
- 13:54are passing moves along to consumers, and so guys like Dave are paying more.
- 13:58Yeah, well, you know, nobody likes to pay bills, and
- 14:01I know that I was doing some rating this morning that I think the Cana
- 14:05County Commission, particularly Kent Carper, is pretty upset about some proposed rating creases
- 14:11for Western new from Western American water too. I'm gonna try to get into
- 14:13that the next a couple of days. Quickly bro at thirty seconds or so.
- 14:16What are you working on today? Well, the Governor's got a briefing
- 14:20today. Um, you know this, this will bust your ratings when I
- 14:22talk about this. One of his guests is the DHHR Acting Secretary, and
- 14:30kind of in the background. One of the big state government things that's going
- 14:33on is dividing the biggest agency, a multi billion dollar agency, DHR,
- 14:39into three separate agencies. And that is that is a challenge. It is
- 14:46a challenge from a structural agency perspective. But you know, you can imagine
- 14:54that if you were an employee at DHR, you would you would be worried
- 15:00out what is to come? What is your job security? What will it
- 15:03be like? Here's your boss going to be? Will your will your duties
- 15:07make sense? Still? And so that is one of the things that that
- 15:11Jeffrey Coban, the acting Secretary, has been attuned to also trying to communicate
- 15:16with legislators, with with the governor himself, and so Coban's gonna, I
- 15:22think go through a lot of that with us interim meetings. Also again not
- 15:26a sexy talkic, sorry about your ratings, but uh that that is the
- 15:31kind of homework the legislators do in the off season so that theoretically they're ready
- 15:35to roll during the regular session. And that's coming up this weekend already again
- 15:41in ya, okay, what happens that briefing today with the governor? Brand
- 15:48Oh it's as well, Yeah, no, scheduled for eleven am. It's
- 15:52eleven I should all right, We'll be following you to see what's up there,
- 15:56Brad. We'll talk to you man. Thanks a lot. Twenty three

- 19:32Warner's here. Good morning, sir. How are you hey? I'm great,
- 19:33good to be with you, Dave. Let's talk business, sir.
- 19:37Literally, it's national, it's it's National Small Business Week. And I understand
- 19:41you are a little north of here today tauting small business along with some other
- 19:45folks. What's going on? I am? This is a Small Business Administration
- 19:49Week where we pay tribute to those people, our neighbors, our friends,
- 19:55our family members who have started businesses and we've i'll paying homage to the fact
- 20:00that they hire. About eighty percent of the people that are employed, that
- 20:04have jobs and state are employed by small business owners and so this is the
- 20:10week to go in and talk to your local store owner, gift shop owner,
- 20:15hardware store, grocery store, or whatever. You know. The big
- 20:19boxes are nice at times, but this is a week where we say,
- 20:23hey, let's not forget the people who are providing most of the jobs and
- 20:26goods and services in our communities. And that's a small business center. So
- 20:30I'm up here. I'm wanting to be in a Fairmont to give out some
- 20:33awards to date and small business centers have been recognized by the administration and just
- 20:40begin doing things like we're doing right now. And that's talking about the importance
- 20:44of these small businesses and what they mean that the State of West Virginia and
- 20:48mister Secretary, I've talked on this show before that when many people think of
- 20:52the Secretary of State's office, they only think about elections. And yes,
- 20:55elections are a big part of what your office does, but there's there's a
- 20:57lot more than just a action business as in doing business, registering people to
- 21:03run their businesses, making sure everything's up to date with your office, offering
- 21:07services for new and existing businesses. That's really it really takes up a larger
- 21:11part of what the Secretary of State's office does larger than elections. It seemed
- 21:15to look it up the numbers, sir, and I was taking a look
- 21:18at some numbers. You actually there are a lot of people registering and doing
- 21:22business in West Virginia right now. They certainly are, and I'm glad you
- 21:26mentioned that. That was one of the surprises to me when I took over
- 21:29the office is that I only have five people in my selections division, but
- 21:33I have about twenty five people in the Business and Licensing division to keep track
- 21:37of right now, and this is news. One hundred and fifty five thousand
- 21:41small businesses in the state earned businesses in the state of West Virginia. That's
- 21:47most of it we're aware of in state's history, and probably up about ten
- 21:52thousand from a year or so ago. Before this, I've always been keep
- 21:56tracks about one hundred and forty thousand businesses. Now let's keep track of hundred
- 22:02and fifty five thousand businesses and charities throughout the state. So we attribute that
- 22:07to a number of things. And think of this, folks, This is
- 22:10coming out of COVID, and we still have this increase. During COVID,
- 22:12the businesses actually picked up, and I think that was a symbol of the
- 22:18hard working entrepreneur spirit in the Mountain State that people weren't just going to sit
- 22:22at home and sit on their hands. They wanted to start their own businesses.
- 22:26They've had ideas and now as a chance to start it. And then
- 22:29with what we've done in the modernization of the office, where we've made it
- 22:32easy for people to register the businesses online, and we just launched a brand
- 22:37new leading the nation technology program here a couple of weeks ago called SOLO,
- 22:42that single online location. You go to our website, you pull that up
- 22:48and it helps. It's a chatpot that walks you through how to register your
- 22:51business. So you can do this twenty four seven. You do it in
- 22:53your pajamas on the weekend at night, sitting at home. You can register
- 22:57your business here in the state and West Virgia and this helps you through that
- 23:00process. And so it's leading the nation because we have some very smart people
- 23:04in our igh T shop in the sect to day States Office, they gathered
- 23:10over nine hundred questions that people commonly ask when they call into the office,
- 23:15and then from that it went viral basically within the office that it's not just
- 23:21nine hundred questions you might ask. But they've done this what is called geo
- 23:25fencing around four websites within the secur day States Office, and so we populated
- 23:30those websites with answers we know are correct from our expertise are from the office.
- 23:34And now those four interactive websites can talk to one another and a little
- 23:38that you can ask through this chet chetbot tens of thousands of questions about businesses,
- 23:45business registration, business licensing, and it will spit back consistent answers.
- 23:49And that's what is exciting about this, I think, and we're leading the
- 23:52nation with this concept. And this is for less than two thousand dollars in
- 23:56the sixt day States Office. Now, the maintenance is going to be the
- 24:00routine cost. But here I want to pay tribute to the legislature. We've
- 24:07taken these ideas of the legislature and they've approved these ideas both in the elections
- 24:11arena and in the business and licensing arena. So we have a good cooperative
- 24:15relationship with our legislature. They're allowing us to take on these challenges and provide
- 24:21the service people of West Virginia. And I think all of that contributes to
- 24:25this growth in the new businesses throughout the state. And that's what this week
- 24:30is all about, is to pay tribute to those people who are willing to
- 24:33step up take on those challenges. By the way, we waive the fees
- 24:37for anybody under the age of thirty, for veterans and their families, we're
- 24:41just making it as easy as possible for people to start a business in the
- 24:45state of West Virginia. Talking to West Virginia Secretary of State Mike Warner,
- 24:48let's go back to elections for a moment. You were in Washington last week.
- 24:51What was that all about? I was asked, this is the fourth
- 24:55time I've been asked to Capitol Hill to explain high West Virginia has such a
- 24:59great confidence in our elections, how we're doing things so well in the elections
- 25:02are when the rest of America is so divided, so uncertain about their elections.
- 25:07And so I felt honored. But its goal to attribute to the county
- 25:11clerks and the people who run the elections. By Elections Division has just done
- 25:14a great job of balancing access with security, so the access to the polls
- 25:18is being able to go on election day and not have the long lines to
- 25:22vote early, ten days of early voting, to vote by mail if you
- 25:26have a legitimate excuse or reason. That's where you have this balance between easy
- 25:32access to the polls but also a security component voter ID and that sort of
- 25:36thing. And I think that if the rest of America would copy what we're
- 25:40doing here in West Virginia. And again I give attribute to the legislature for
- 25:44being the ones we've got this proper balance struck. But if we do that
- 25:48throughout the US, I think the competence in elections would go sky high and
- 25:52we wouldn't have these problems that we've seen in so many of those swing state
- 25:55elections. And we seem to be doing it right in West Virginia. But
- 25:57that's not to say that there aren't problems here are They're very very limited.
- 26:02But to one of those was reported yesterday there was an individual secretary who played
- 26:06no contest to an election crime and it was the mother of a county commissioner
- 26:11from Mingo County. Can you talk about that, Well, that's an example
- 26:15of there are problems. Even in a great state lake West Virginia with good
- 26:18elections, you still have election frit ory irregularias. Improprieties and we will search
- 26:22those out, we will prosecute them. And that's why we've done things such
- 26:26as we see something, text something, programs against something. We're leading the
- 26:30nation with so everybody who has a cell phone, if you see intimidation or
- 26:34an attraction taking place at polling locations, you can take a picture or a
- 26:38video and send it to us. And then we have five times a number
- 26:41of investigators we used to have. We have these investigators all around the states
- 26:45so they can respond quickly to a situation. And so we're taking election integrity
- 26:51very seriously. People know that, and hopefully that will serve as a deterrent
- 26:55to keep these sorts of things from happening. That when people do decide that
- 26:59they're going to tamper with the system or vote twice or intimidat a voter,
- 27:03we're going to as soon as it gets reported, we're going to investigate and
- 27:07take care of the situation so it doesn't occur again. And I think,
- 27:11and you can correct me if I'm wrong, in this particular situation, I
- 27:12think that there was somebody that was about I had to do with with an
- 27:15absentee ballot from somebody that was that was sent to somebody out of state or
- 27:21something that didn't no longer lived here. How did your office find out about
- 27:25the crime? It was reported to us, and it was an alteration,
- 27:29Uh, you know, an improper alteration on an application. So uh that
- 27:33drives home the point. It isn't just like I said, double voting or
- 27:37buying a vote. It's the entire process. It's important and needs to be
- 27:42run properly. And part of what our testimony was last week was I really
- 27:48got on the FBI and it's handling of this Hunter Biden laptop situation where we
- 27:53have these spies who live These were our top officials from the CIA and DNA,
- 28:00and these are the three hundred agencies who purposely put out disinformation saying that
- 28:03the Hunter Biden laptop was a Russian disinformation campaign, when in fact it was
- 28:08their own disinformation campaign. I think our Secretary of State Anthony Blincoln is in
- 28:12the real trouble now because of some of the testimonies that's coming out being revealed.
- 28:18And it took two years untild Republicans were in charge of the House of
- 28:22Representatives before these hearings could be held to expose this. But the point in
- 28:27all of this is that the whole process needs to be free, fair and
- 28:30clean, and this clearly wasn't fair to the American people two weeks before the
- 28:36twenty twenty election to lie to us our own agencies. I'm really incensed about
- 28:41this. It's probably proper for a whole other conversation, but I'm hot about
- 28:45it. I've reported that or I expressed my discomfort with that hearing the House
- 28:51hearing, and we haven't heard the end of this one is this is what
- 28:56allows me to say that that twenty twenty election was stolen, It wasn't fair,
- 29:00and we need to make sure that it doesn't happen again. So I'm
- 29:02really pleased that the House is getting after this how it's representatives and investigating what
- 29:07happened there, because you know, we expect this information to come out of
- 29:11Russia and China and some of these other countries. We don't expect it out
- 29:15of our three hundred agencies that are responsible for the integrity of our election process.
- 29:21And then to have the FBI know about it, not report that we
- 29:25have some real problems to be cleaned out in the swamp in DC secret state.
- 29:29Mac wonder before we let you go you are a candidate for governor.
- 29:32Since you are last time, I think you haven't been on since then.
- 29:34Another persons into the race, that being Attorney General Patrick Morrissey. He joins
- 29:38that already crowded field with you and several others. How's it going and are
- 29:42you Are you ready for the challenge? Oh, it's going great. And
- 29:48I'm just I'm the candidate to trade step into the job day one. There's
- 29:51no on the job training with me. I've worked with large organizations before.
- 29:53People see what I've done as a Secretary of State, the advances we've made,
- 29:57teaming up to voter registration list, modernizing the office, leveraging technology.
- 30:03So if you like what we've done in secretary of State's office, let me
- 30:06take that across the hall of do it for all of state government. And
- 30:10that's the message that I'm want to send to the people of West Virginia.
- 30:12And I'm looking forward. We've turned the corner in West Virginia. You see
- 30:17this growing of the economy, of the businesses and so on. It's time
- 30:22to put the foot on the accelerator and move it in to pass forward.
- 30:26And so I've been out in Martinsburg, saw some wonderful things going on out
- 30:30there. Over one hundred million dollar housing project going on to draw people in
- 30:33from Northern Virginia. And then a food court that they're putting in just two
- 30:40blocks away, leveraging making that quality of light, that community feeling again to
- 30:45attract people who want to live in a place with a lower cost of the
- 30:49little bit slow the pace of life, but having all the wonderful things that
- 30:55West Virginia offers. And I think that we're willing to do that around the
- 30:57state. We see it in Mordytown, we see it in the northern Panhandle.
- 31:00We need to cross level some of this across the state, helping out
- 31:03and say southern West Virginia, Christ some of the coal fields have been hit
- 31:07through that on coal. We need the governors some fight for these, you
- 31:11know, to build the economy, to push back against the wokeness and all
- 31:15that give power to the parents and to the people, not forcing this woke
- 31:22agenda on all of us. That's what we need, is the governor,
- 31:25and that's what offers with people of West Virginia. So I appreciate you essing
- 31:26about that day, Secretary State and Google to tour Canada. Mac Warner I
- 31:30appreciate you, sir, enjoy your time up north of here doing the business

- 35:50closures, consolidations, whatever you want to call him in Kanau County. About
- 35:53Mike Stewart, Texas, Stewart announced that with great humility, he's running for
- 35:58age, says a texture any one who files to run for another office only
- 36:01five months after winning one office is the furthest thing for being humble. Humility
- 36:06is a remarkable thing for him to claim. And well, we'll talk to
- 36:09Mike Stewart about that. He'll be in studio with us tomorrow. Let me
- 36:15see here, tex says, if Mike Stewart becomes Attorney General West Virginia can
- 36:21expect an ease on child marriage laws and to never ever have a hope of
- 36:25legal cannabis. Mike Stewart is bad for business. According to it, I'll
- 36:29let Mike Stewart defend himselves on that tomorrow. Okay, the same thing texted
- 36:36twice here. Tex says one move that the GOP and Mansion as well,
- 36:39if he wants to try to repair his trust issues with West Virginia's should make
- 36:44is that there will be no negotiations on the debt unless this administration closes the
- 36:47open southern border for good and finishes building the wall to end illegal immigration.
- 36:53Enough is enough, according to a texture. Texture says his time for a
- 37:00change in the Public Service Commission. But them on ballots, these people that
- 37:04are on the board are all company people. We can't keep bailing out failed
- 37:07power plants and utilities. It's time for the people to rise up. Tex
- 37:13says, why is West Virginia is still so far behind in all the important
- 37:15categories even after the Conservatives have been in power for so long? You know,
- 37:22I guess the question. I've always been a person that says, and
- 37:25I disagree with some of my Republican counterparts on this, and that's fine.
- 37:29I have always said that even though the Democrats controlled West Virginia for eighty three
- 37:32years, by and large, West Virginia was a conservative state by and large.
- 37:37Now there's some exceptions to that, but even those that had the D
- 37:39after their name tended to be more conservative. Now, I had Greg Thomas
- 37:44on the show. Ye take Greg and I kind of disagree on that,
- 37:45and that's He's far more knowledgeable about the stuff than I am. But we
- 37:49kind of disagree on that, and that's okay. So I don't know.
- 37:52I guess it all depends on what your definition of conservatism is. I mean,
- 37:57yeah, but Democrats controlled West Virginia for eighty three years. I think
- 38:00the majority of those folks that serve in those office were conservative. There are
- 38:04those that will espouse the view that we were never a conservative state, that
- 38:08we were run by primarily liberals or at least a big part of leverything.
- 38:13I guess it all depends on what your definition is. Five eighty Live is

- 38:28do you let Warner keep saying that the twenty twenty election was stolen. When
- 38:30Trump's own at DJ, William Barr investigated this and said the election was absolutely
- 38:36not stolen. Well, because that is Mike Warner's opinion. And you know,
- 38:40I mean, I have candidates on the show all the time, almost
- 38:45almost daily, I've a candidate for something. If they're not there will be
- 38:47a candidate at some point on the show. And um, you know,
- 38:51I'm gonna I'm not gonna argue back and forth with them if if that's the
- 38:54opinion that they have and they've based on whatever they've looked at then and so
- 39:00bim Tex says, I was surprised to hear mac Warner say that the election
- 39:05was stolen. I think it's a dumb strategy, but the southern West Virginia
- 39:07people eat it up like there is no tomorrow. The Cana County Board of
- 39:15Education voted last night to move forward with the closing of Marmotte Elementary School and
- 39:20moving those students and staff to Chesapeake Elementary. Jared Lewis as a story post
- 39:24tot WV Metronews dot com. It was a unanimous vote. During the public
- 39:30hearing by the Board of Education last night at Riverside High The superintendent of Cana
- 39:37County Schools. Tom Williams spoke about the fidential closings and consolidations on the show
- 39:40just a couple of months or so ago. He's quoted in Jared Lewis's story
- 39:45on the website basically Superintendent Williams saying it's not an easy process or something that
- 39:53the board wants to do, but it's necessary. The main reason to the
- 40:00Knock County Board of Education, it's a decline in state funding or well that's
- 40:07you know, it's the state funding. And doctor william says that over the
- 40:09last ten years, and this is really a startling figure, over the last
- 40:15ten years, Canaw County Schools has lost around forty four hundred students. And
- 40:22he's correct. When you lose kids, you lose money as in state aid,
- 40:30and losing forty four hundred kids is a kid to losing about thirty million
- 40:37dollars in state funds. That's about thirty million dollars. And by closing and
- 40:45consolidating these three schools, the board will save and estimated one point six million
- 40:51dollars. Now, as you may expect, community members are upset about it.
- 40:55It's the normal concerns from parents and grandparents all one hundred percent completely understandable
- 41:02about kids getting the attention that the kids deserves. You know, one parent
- 41:08at the hearing said she may, she may choose to homeschool her kids.
- 41:14And I do think it is worth noting that when you talk about losing forty
- 41:20four hundred kids, these aren't in every case just kids that their parents or
- 41:25guardians moved away. In some cases it's kids who went into private schools,
- 41:34homeschools, charter schools, etc. It's it's not over. It's not over
- 41:40yet. Well it is from Marmett, but but more hearings are coming Marmette.
- 41:46By the way, we'll close at the end of the next school year.
- 41:50That's the twenty three twenty twenty four school term. Now next up to
- 41:53be discussed Grandview Elementary. A hearing on that consolidation will be held tonight at
- 41:59west Side Middle School starting at six. The final public hearing will be about
- 42:02closing Wimer Elementary. That hearing to be held tomorrow night at six at Saint
- 42:07Albanside. Of course, our team will be covering those just as we did
- 42:10last night. And I know parents and grandparents don't like hearing this, but
- 42:19these closures are necessary, and it happens hundreds of times, if not thousands
- 42:25of times per year, and no one likes losing community schools. As I
- 42:31said, when news of these closures of these schools first service a few months
- 42:35ago, it all came out and and it really is sad. But I
- 42:44guess I can kind of ride the fence here, and I can, I
- 42:45can I understand both sides. You know, the school is, or at
- 42:49least in small communities especially, is the gathering place, the centerpiece of the
- 42:54community. It's where your scout meetings were held. You're hearing and everything from
- 43:00water issues to road closures, you know, woman's club meetings, you know
- 43:06whatever that the school was where it happened, and no one likes to see
- 43:09that happened in these school closures and consolidations happens, but you know, it
- 43:15is what it is. If it costs more to operate these schools, those
- 43:19schools are going to close. And get used to it, because I'm sure
- 43:23there's going to be a lot more, possibly within your neighborhood. And again
- 43:31worth noting, it's not just population loss. You know, parents and grandparents
- 43:36and guardians in some cases they are choosing other options other than public schools for
- 43:40one reason or another. There's a whole lot more. There's a whole lot
- 43:44more ways to educate kids out there. What there were when most of you
- 43:46and I were in school, I mean it was public school where maybe the
- 43:50occasional you know, religious institution, that was pretty much. Yet now you
- 43:54got home school, you got several I mean my home county I think now
- 43:58has got like four different something like the county ad that I'm from, Logan
- 44:01County, I think has got something like three or four different Christian schools in
- 44:06the county. Had one when I was there, and that was a kindergarten
- 44:08through twelve. Now they have I think three or four. So you got
- 44:13more of those options available in charter schools and things of that and homeschooling and
- 44:17sadly, these are the times in which we live, Texas. I can't
- 44:22wait for Mike to peddle that stuff with Hoppy talking about stolen election. Hoppy

- 48:00texta says, when will the GOP drop the word woke b asked to
- 48:04do something that really matters? In my humble opinion, Backwater's a joke,
- 48:07and a poor one at that. All about opinions, man, everybody's got
- 48:10one or two or five Texas Day, Mike Stuart will be a great choice
- 48:14for attorney in general. He's a man of integrity and common conservative sense.
- 48:17Thanks According to a Texter, everyone says a texture has a right to run
- 48:22for an office. The AG job just became available. It's not like he
- 48:25doesn't have the background to handle the job. According to a texting a game,
- 48:29we'll talk to Mike Stuart about that tomorrow. Tex says, the old
- 48:30West Virginia Democrats were physically liberal and socially conservative. They liked government spending tax
- 48:36money and didn't want gays to marry. West Virginia GOP is physically and socially
- 48:40conservative. They don't want tax money to be spent except for corporate subsidies,
- 48:45and they don't want gays to marry. The only thing that's changing is West
- 48:47Virginia citizens are getting duped by the GOP and to being happy with less.
- 48:52According to a text, what was it that led to Tucker Carlson getting the
- 49:00acts at Fox? Well, it looks like a variety of things. One
- 49:04of the big issues is coming to light today. I text message sent by
- 49:07Tucker Carlson to one of his show producers in the hours after January sixth.
- 49:15Apparently he and he's some of his staff had watched a video of some Trump
- 49:22supporters. His words, it's Tucker Carlson's direct quote here. This all came
- 49:24out in the Dominion case attacking an Antifa kid end quote now. He later
- 49:30texted he felt badly that the attackers were white. Again, quoting jumping a
- 49:35guy like that is dishonorable. Obviously, it's not how white men fight.
- 49:40I suddenly find myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they'd hit
- 49:45him harder kill him. I really wanted them to hurt that kid. I
- 49:49could taste it. Then something deep in my brain and alarm went off.
- 49:51This isn't good for me. I'm becoming something I don't want to be.
- 49:54The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says
- 49:58and does, I'm sure I would also hate him personally if I knew him.
- 50:02But I shouldn't gloat over his suffering And how am I better than he
- 50:07is? And quote. Now, of course, all this, as I
- 50:07said, came out as part of the Dominion lawsuit. That text and this
- 50:14all is according to New York Times, by the way, was seen by
- 50:16the board at Fox just one day before they were set to defend themselves in
- 50:22the case with Dominion. Now, apparently the board became concerned that the text
- 50:29would go public during the trial with Tucker Carlson was on the stand, and
- 50:35that that would again raise broader questions in the eyes of the public. Now
- 50:39you add this with all the other issues within the company that were being lobbed
- 50:44at Tucker Carlson from Sexism on Doubt and Fox simply had to cut their losses
- 50:50even though he was the number one guy at what he does in the entire
- 50:53industry. You can love the guy, you can hate the gap, but
- 50:55you can't argue with the numbers. He had numbers like nobody had ever seen
- 51:00in that genre, and those quickly bottomed out when he was fired, and
- 51:06they have continued to bottom out in the days following. Now, now that
- 51:09doesn't mean that it's going to remain that way, but I mean, it
- 51:14just it just crapped out, you know, totally so. And again all
- 51:16this came out during the dominion trial. And so when I said it was
- 51:21reported by the New York Times, you know Q people saying fake news.
- 51:22No, those were the actual texts that they were able to get. Those
- 51:25were actual texts from from Tucker Carlson. And you know, people say taken
- 51:30out of context or well, I don't know how you take that out of
- 51:31context, but that apparently was the reason five Vity Lives brought to you,
- 51:36parted by Generations Physical Therapy seven convenient locations along I sixty four and they are
