- 0:00True with me, if you would to Hebrews chapter 13, as we seek
- 0:04to tackle and the treasure 10 Timeless truths.
- 0:08If you've been with us, we began a few weeks ago.
- 0:11Look at Hebrews 13, verse number one.
- 0:13And there we learned that we need to respond with love to the
- 0:17needs of others. That was verses 1 to 3.
- 0:20Verse number 4, need to reaffirm your loyalty to marriage.
- 0:24That was the second truth. You need to tackle and to
- 0:27treasure number three was to resist.
- 0:29The love of Of money. That's verses 5 and 6.
- 0:32Verse number 7, you need to remember your leaders and follow
- 0:35their example. Number five is found in verse
- 0:39number 8 and that is to relish the unchangeable character of
- 0:44our great God, Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
- 0:47And then number six was last week and that was refused to
- 0:52listen to wrong teaching. Today, is is number seven.
- 1:00And that is, you need to realize the importance of separation
- 1:07from the world. Realize the importance of
- 1:11separation from the world and that's in verses 10 to 14.
- 1:15Let me read them to you. It says verse number 10, we have
- 1:19an altar from which those who serve the Tabernacle have no
- 1:23right to eat for the bodies of those animals.
- 1:26Whose blood is brought into the holy place, by the high priests,
- 1:29as an offering for sin are burned, outside the camp.
- 1:34Therefore Jesus also that he might sanctify the people
- 1:38through his own blood suffered outside the gate.
- 1:42So let us go out to him outside the camp.
- 1:46Bearing, his reproach for here, we do not have a lasting City,
- 1:52but we are seeking the city, which is To come.
- 1:59Now, you read that. You think what on Earth is he
- 2:02trying to say How do you get the principal realize the importance
- 2:08of separation from the world out of those four verses?
- 2:15Well, remember, we're not Jewish.
- 2:19If we were we'd really have no problem understanding what he's
- 2:23saying, but, because we're not, we need to kind of come to grips
- 2:28with what he's trying to get across to this Hebrew audience.
- 2:34What is he saying? Well one of the keys is the
- 2:38phrase outside, the camp. Verse 11, verse 12 outside, the
- 2:43gate verse number 13 outside the camp.
- 2:48So whatever is on the outside is different from what's on the
- 2:52inside and so there's a separation there.
- 2:56And what is that separation? What does he want us to
- 2:59understand? When you think about it?
- 3:02And you And Jewish history. It's not that difficult.
- 3:07The problem is, if you read different commentators on this,
- 3:11you'll get a variety of different interpretations of it.
- 3:15I'm not going to go through all those with you this morning.
- 3:17We wouldn't have enough time to do that, but let me just give
- 3:20you what I believe the writer is trying to say.
- 3:23He gives us an illustration that he gives us an exhortation and
- 3:28then it gives us the motivation. Okay?
- 3:30So if you can just remember those three points when it comes
- 3:33to realizing our need the importance of separation from
- 3:36the world, there's an Tration, there's an exhortation and then
- 3:39there's a motivation. What is the illustration?
- 3:43Well, look at verse 10, we have an altar.
- 3:46Who's we? The Jewish Nation?
- 3:49We have an altar, they know the altar in the temple, the new of
- 3:53the altar, in the, in the Tabernacle, they knew of the
- 3:56altar, in the tent of meeting, we have an altar, from which
- 4:01those who serve the Tabernacle have no right to eat.
- 4:04Well, who's that? Well, read on for the bodies of
- 4:08those animals, whose blood is brought into the holy place by
- 4:12the high priest, as an offering for sin are burned outside.
- 4:18The camp. So there is a an offering which
- 4:23cannot be eating eaten and what is the only offering that the
- 4:28priest could not eat? It was the offering offered on
- 4:31the day of atonement the offering which once the animals
- 4:35were sacrificed, the blood was sprinkled in the holy of holies
- 4:39on The Mercy Seat. The carcasses of those animals
- 4:43were taken outside the city outside the camp, and they were
- 4:48burned. Why, why is it?
- 4:52The high priest could partake of any other offering offered, but
- 4:57on the day of atonement, he can partake of this offering.
- 5:02Which was offered instead, it had to be taken outside the camp
- 5:07and burned because it happened on the day of atonement the day
- 5:11in which the high priest would go in and offer sacrifice for
- 5:13the sins of the people anticipating their sins in the
- 5:16new year and looking for forgiveness of sins from the
- 5:20previous year. And the reason they took those
- 5:23animals outside the city in the burned them was because it
- 5:26symbolized a separation. There's our keyword from their
- 5:30sin. In other words, I'm offering a
- 5:33sacrifice on behalf of my family on behalf of the nation for
- 5:38their sins. And there needs to be a
- 5:40separation of my life from that sin.
- 5:44So there was great, shame in great reproach upon those
- 5:47carcasses that were burned because of symbolized me, truly,
- 5:51repented of my sin. I want nothing else to do with
- 5:54that sin, I'm going to separate myself from that sin.
- 5:59The blood sacrifice has been offered.
- 6:01My sins have been covered, therefore, I don't want to go
- 6:03back into that sin. That's why the carcasses were
- 6:06taken outside the city. And they were burned.
- 6:10Then he says this. Therefore verse 12.
- 6:15Jesus also. Jesus.
- 6:18Also that he might sanctify the people through his own blood
- 6:24suffered outside the gate. Now we know that Jesus suffered
- 6:29outside the gate because outside the Damascus gate is Mount
- 6:31Calvary, the place of the skull with crucifixion took place in
- 6:36Christ was crucified outside the gate, but Christ also was
- 6:42rejected like the sacrifice the carcasses that were burned were
- 6:47rejected. So Christ to was rejected by
- 6:51those of the Jewish Nation. And he was crucified outside the
- 6:57gate, but the problem is Christ was the Fulfillment of
- 7:02everything, the Old Testament offering pictured.
- 7:06Christ was the Fulfillment because he was the one sacrifice
- 7:11that once offered would not just cover the sins but remove all
- 7:17their sins. So Christ was the Fulfillment of
- 7:21what the day of atonement was pointing to so as they would
- 7:27reject the carcasses and burn the carcasses to separate
- 7:30themselves from their sin, Jesus himself was also crucified
- 7:35outside the gate that's where he suffered and he did it very the
- 7:40reproach of the people he did it bearing, the sins of the people
- 7:45But yet, they not not only just removed themselves or rejected
- 7:51the carcasses of those that were burned or that were sacrificed.
- 7:56They rejected the one fulfillment of what all the Old
- 8:02Testament pointed to and they wanted nothing to do with him.
- 8:08So he tells them, therefore, Jesus also that he might
- 8:13separate. If I make holy the people
- 8:18through his own blood, he suffered outside the gate,
- 8:22otherwise he's taking them back to the fact that this is a
- 8:24fulfillment of New, Covenant promise that everything that the
- 8:28old Covenant pointed to Christ fulfilled it.
- 8:31But yet you rejected him they says this.
- 8:36So let us go out to him outside. The camp.
- 8:44Now, think about this in the book of Exodus, Exodus chapter
- 8:4933 33. Moses moved the tent of meeting
- 8:56from inside the camp, Two outside the camp.
- 9:01Okay, Israel had committed idolatry immorality.
- 9:07Israel had said we will obey all that.
- 9:09The law says, but Moses was taking too long to come down
- 9:13from the mountain and so they they took their jewelry and they
- 9:17made this molten calf as golden calf and began to worship the
- 9:20golden calf and the Lord was incensed with them.
- 9:25And so he took the tent of meeting and moved it outside the
- 9:27camp of Israel. And so if you wanted to approach
- 9:30God you couldn't approach him inside the camp.
- 9:34He had approached him outside the camp.
- 9:38It's what Moses was. Go outside the camp to the tent
- 9:40of meeting and the glory of the Lord would come down and the
- 9:43people would go outside their tents and stand.
- 9:45And observe Moses was outside, Moses was separated from those
- 9:50who are inside the camp and the only way to approach God was to
- 9:54approach him outside the camp not inside the camp because
- 9:59inside was a reminder of idolatry and immorality on the
- 10:02outside is reminder of Holiness and purity.
- 10:07So the writer of Hebrews is right, these people who know all
- 10:10this. See they get it.
- 10:12We don't know all this but they do.
- 10:14They knew what happened on the day of atonement.
- 10:17They knew why the carcasses were burned outside the city.
- 10:20They knew they wanted nothing else to do with their sin,
- 10:23although they would commit the same sins.
- 10:24Again, it was symbolic of separate themselves from their
- 10:28sin. They knew that Christ was
- 10:30crucified outside the gate. They knew that the Jewish people
- 10:33rejected him as their Messiah, okay?
- 10:36Even though he was the Fulfillment as a right if he was
- 10:39instead, Throughout the previous 12 chapters, he was the
- 10:44Fulfillment of the New Covenant yet.
- 10:46They rejected him as they rejected the carcasses.
- 10:50And they wanted nothing to do with him, but he was the atoning
- 10:53sacrifice for their sins. So now he says, listen you need
- 10:59to go outside the camp. Need to approach this one Christ
- 11:04need to go to him. Now, when you think about the
- 11:07context of everything you realize that member last week,
- 11:11he said these words in verse number 9, he says do not be
- 11:14carried away by varied and strange doctrines or teachings
- 11:18for his good for the heart. Art to be strengthened by Grace,
- 11:21not by Foods. Look, it's not your dietary
- 11:25laws. It's not your ceremonial laws,
- 11:28they're going to strengthen you. He says through which those who
- 11:31were so occupied were not benefited.
- 11:36In other words, they don't benefit you anymore.
- 11:39When Christ came, the ceremonial laws were done away, with all
- 11:44those rituals were done away with the only law that stands is
- 11:47the moral law of God. And Christ came to fulfill the
- 11:52law of the prophets. And now just like those dietary
- 11:56laws, don't benefit you but you need to be strengthened by his
- 12:01grace. So to nothing inside the gate,
- 12:05nothing inside the camp is going to benefit you.
- 12:08You have to approach the one outside the camp.
- 12:11The one that was crucified for your sins, the one who bore your
- 12:14reproach in his body that you might be set free from your sin,
- 12:18you are to approach him outside the camp.
- 12:22And that's what he's trying to say.
- 12:23It's an illustration, it's no stration of being separate from
- 12:26the world system being separated from legalism being separated
- 12:31from ceremonialism, being separated from your judicial,
- 12:35Judy istic practices, and come all the way to Christ to worship
- 12:41him, and to adore him. It's all about separation.
- 12:46And then he says this. So let us go out to him outside
- 12:52the camp bearing. His Reproach.
- 12:58Bearing his reproach. There's something unique about
- 13:01that separation. And that separation cause you to
- 13:07Bear the reproach of Christ. Remember, Moses talked about him
- 13:12months ago, he was 11. It says these words verse 26,
- 13:19that Moses considering the reproach of Christ greater
- 13:24riches than the treasures of Egypt.
- 13:29Other words to Bear. The reproach of Christ was a
- 13:32greater treasure than all the treasures in Egypt.
- 13:37Moses recognize that. So here is the writer of Hebrews
- 13:43going back to that helping you understand that when you go out
- 13:48to Christ, when you approached him on his terms, his way his
- 13:54time, the one who bore your sin, now you're able to go to him and
- 13:59when you do You will suffer along with him.
- 14:04Why? Because that's what Christianity
- 14:07is. It's taking up your cross and
- 14:10following Christ. It's bearing.
- 14:12The reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of
- 14:17anything else. So important to understand, so
- 14:22he gives us exhortation. If you want to approach Christ,
- 14:27you separate yourself from the world system, you separate
- 14:30yourself from all. That's that's keeping you from
- 14:35being totally committed to your God.
- 14:38I thought about that and I thought to myself.
- 14:39Wow. How many times do we let the
- 14:42world take control of Our Lives? Over the years, I've told you.
- 14:49Very simply. That you can't care about the
- 14:54things of the world. Because once you begin to care
- 15:01for the things of the world, you will soon become companioned
- 15:06with the things of the world. James 4:4 he who is a friend of
- 15:13the world is an enemy of God. So many times, we are so
- 15:20concerned about the world, we're we care so much about the things
- 15:24of the world. I'm not talking about the world.
- 15:26In terms of its physicality, I'm talk about the world.
- 15:28In terms of its its influence, And having it attitude of
- 15:33worldliness. The Bible says that the world is
- 15:36passing away and the lust thereof.
- 15:37He doesn't will of God, abides forever Christ said in sync with
- 15:42these chicks, come out from among them and be separate.
- 15:46Crisis, always called us a separation.
- 15:48He died to sanctify us. He died, two, separate us for
- 15:51the world system. We are in the world, but we're
- 15:54not to be of the world. Remember Lot's, wife.
- 16:00In Luke's gospel, he tells us remember Lot's wife.
- 16:05Why? Because you see a lot of this
- 16:08family. They were.
- 16:10They love Sodom. That's why they were there.
- 16:15And the angel said, you got to go because the Lord's going to
- 16:17story Sodom but but they weren't moving.
- 16:21So the angel had to grab them and remove them from Sodom
- 16:26physically remove them. From Sodom and we know from
- 16:31Peters account that lot was a righteous man.
- 16:34We would have never known that. Had Peter not told us that but
- 16:38he was a righteous man and God removed him.
- 16:42The angel remove them from Sodom and said to them, do not look
- 16:47back. Don't look back.
- 16:50Look straight ahead, move on, get out.
- 16:54But Lot's wife, she couldn't resist the temptation.
- 16:59She couldn't, she couldn't come to grips with the fact that
- 17:02everything that she had in Sodom, she would have no more
- 17:06her hairdresser. Her mole, her shoes.
- 17:11Everything she ever wanted was all in Sodom, is she couldn't
- 17:16bear the fact that it was all going to be destroyed.
- 17:18And so even though I said Don't Look Back.
- 17:22Lot's wife. She couldn't she just couldn't
- 17:25resist. She turned and looked back with,
- 17:29probably a tinge of of paying in her heart and tears, in her eyes
- 17:35that she lost everything. She was immediately turned into
- 17:39a pillar of salt. The Bible says remember Lot's
- 17:43wife as she cared for the things of the world.
- 17:49And when you care for the things of the world, you soon will be
- 17:54companioned with the things in the people of the world.
- 18:01And if you become companioned with the things of the world,
- 18:06you will become contaminated by the things of the world.
- 18:12You will James 1 verse number 27.
- 18:16James makes it very clear that pure and undefiled religion in
- 18:20the sight of God and Father, is this to visit orphans and widows
- 18:24in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
- 18:33Unstained by the world. But you see if you care for it.
- 18:39You're gonna be companion with it.
- 18:42You'll become a friend of the world. and if you become
- 18:46companion with the world, you'll be contaminated.
- 18:52By the world. If you're contaminated by the
- 18:56world. You'll be conformed to the
- 19:01world. What does Paul say in Romans
- 19:04chapter 12? And be not conformed to this
- 19:09world? But be transformed by the
- 19:14renewing of your mind. How many people that, you know?
- 19:21Care so much about the things of the world that they dabble in
- 19:25the things, the world and soon they become contaminated by
- 19:29those things. Because they became a friend of
- 19:33the world. And because they were
- 19:36contaminated, all of a sudden, everything about them becomes
- 19:41conformed to the world. The jokes they tell.
- 19:46The words, they use the way they dress, the places they go.
- 19:53To become so mold into the world's image instead of
- 19:56Christ's image. And those who care.
- 20:03For the world. And become companion by the
- 20:06world. And become contaminated by the
- 20:10world and conform to the world. Our soon controlled by the world
- 20:17and we're Dimas 2nd, Timothy 4 verse number 10.
- 20:22He has left me. Paul says why because of his
- 20:26love for The world. His love for the world.
- 20:35And he was controlled by it. So, if that's the case, If you
- 20:43don't become convicted. You'll be condemned along with
- 20:48the world. First Kings. 11:32 Paul says,
- 20:54when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord are
- 20:56disciplined by the Lord, that we should not be condemned along
- 21:01with The world. But when the writer of Hebrews
- 21:08says, listen. You know, we have an altar.
- 21:13You know what took place on that altar?
- 21:15On the day of atonement. And their priests were not
- 21:19allowed to eat of that offering, because that offering was a sin
- 21:22offering. And when that was taken care of
- 21:27in the blood was sprinkled on The Mercy Seat, you took that
- 21:29offering you took that carcass, you took it outside the camp and
- 21:32you burned it because you want to nothing to do with you want
- 21:34to separate yourself from that sin and likewise Christ.
- 21:39He was the Fulfillment of all that the day of atonement
- 21:42pointed to but she rejected him as well. and he went out
- 21:47bearing, the reproach of the people Bearing the sins of the
- 21:51people so that so that you will be separated Sanctified by his
- 22:00blood. For without the shedding of
- 22:01blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.
- 22:04So here's your expectation. You want to approach him.
- 22:09You need to approach him in a way that you are outside the
- 22:12camp. Bearing, his reproach.
- 22:14In other words outside the world system outside the legalists
- 22:18system outside. All those things that are
- 22:21tempting to control you and contaminate you that you might
- 22:25be conformed to those things. Remove yourself from those
- 22:28things and go to him. Refuse.
- 22:34Refuse to engage in sinful behavior and realize the
- 22:38importance of separation from the world. for, when you do,
- 22:44You'll bear the reproach of Christ.
- 22:48You will. Because Paul said those who
- 22:53desire to live Godly in Christ, Jesus will suffer persecution
- 22:57Christ. That if they persecuted me,
- 22:59they're going to persecute you. Christ said, take up your cross
- 23:05and follow me. Paul said, he wanted to learn
- 23:07The Fellowship of the Lord's suffering.
- 23:12In the motivation for all this verse 14. for here, we do not
- 23:18have a lasting City, but we are seeking the city which is to
- 23:23come What's the motivation to going to Christ?
- 23:28What's the motivation to separate yourself from the
- 23:30world? This world is passing away, but,
- 23:32but you have a city, that's an eternal City and 12.
- 23:36It was a, it was a kingdom. That was an unshakable Kingdom
- 23:39right here. It's a city, same city that, and
- 23:42he was 11, Abraham looked to then Abraham anticipated, whose
- 23:48architect and Builder was God himself.
- 23:51What motivated, Abraham that lasting City, what motivated?
- 23:57Moses, it tells us, he was 11. He chose rather to endure Rio
- 24:02treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the passing
- 24:05pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater
- 24:08riches than the treasures of Egypt for he was looking to the
- 24:12reward. For by faith.
- 24:15He left Egypt, not fearing the Wrath of the king for he endured
- 24:18as seeing him who is unseen. You see, he was able to perceive
- 24:27the invisible. Because he preferred the
- 24:32imperishable. He preferred the reproach of
- 24:36Christ as greater riches than the treasures of Egypt.
- 24:40Therefore he can endure as seeing him who is unseen.
- 24:44The right if he was comes back to that and says, listen, here's
- 24:48your motivation. This is all passing away.
- 24:53It's all going off the scene. It's not going to last. if you
- 24:58keep seeking the city which is before you the Unseen city of
- 25:02God, the heavenly Jerusalem, the opportunity to bring the
- 25:08presence of God forever. That'll keep you.
- 25:12Keep you motivated. It's always the motivation in
- 25:15Scripture. Always motivation member the
- 25:19clearer. You see the future?
- 25:24The cleaner you stand in the presence.
- 25:29That was all through the Book of Daniel.
- 25:32Right. Daniel saw the future.
- 25:35God gave him visions of the future.
- 25:39You're hard-pressed to find anybody in the scriptures
- 25:41cleaner than Daniel. Percy, clearly perceive the
- 25:46future. He could stand clean in the
- 25:50present, it's always the motivation.
- 25:53Keep seeking those things which are above not below, right seek.
- 25:56Ye first, the kingdom of God and all these things will be added
- 25:59unto you. Everything is about searching
- 26:00for that, which is imperishable that, which is eternal.
- 26:06That, which is filled with the glory of the Lord.
- 26:10So, A truth. You must tackle.
- 26:14And you must treasure is to realize the importance of
- 26:18separation from the world. That's number seven.
- 26:24Let me give you a number eight. Two in one day.
- 26:30Hold on there. And that is return all glory and
- 26:38praise to the Lord. Return all glory and praise to
- 26:45the Lord verse number 15 through him.
- 26:50Then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God.
- 26:56That is the fruit of lips that give thanks to his name and do
- 27:01not neglect, doing good and sharing for with such
- 27:04sacrifices, God is pleased. Now, listen carefully.
- 27:09If you're a Jew. And you're converted to
- 27:13Christianity. One of the questions you're
- 27:16going to ask is. I've been offering sacrifices
- 27:19all my life. What sacrifices now do I offer?
- 27:27He tells me, first of all, you offer the sacrifice of yourself.
- 27:34By not associated Association associated with the things of
- 27:37the world. And then you, you offer
- 27:41sacrifice of song. And then you offer a sacrifice
- 27:45of substance. In other words, you offer
- 27:49sacrifice of your person, right? I beseech, you, therefore
- 27:52Brethren by the mercies of God, that you offer yourself a
- 27:55sacrifice unto God, right? Well to do that.
- 28:00You're going to Bear the reproach of Christ to do that.
- 28:02You're going to separate yourself from the world.
- 28:06He goes on to say and be not conformed to this world, but be
- 28:08transformed by the renewing of your mind.
- 28:09That's, that's Romans 12:1 and 2.
- 28:12So there's the sacrifice of person, then the second Vice of
- 28:16praise and then there's a sacrifice of your purse where
- 28:20your money is. We are substance is see, he's
- 28:24telling them, they're still a sacrifice.
- 28:28Everything that Christ did fulfilled Old Testament,
- 28:30promised everything Christ. Did he came to show you that?
- 28:35He fulfilled. All of that.
- 28:38Through his one. Sacrifice on calvary's Cross.
- 28:42But yet there's still a sacrifice, you offer.
- 28:46In the first sacrifices yourself.
- 28:49You don't want to be conformed to the world.
- 28:51You'll be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
- 28:53You want to, you want to separate yourself from the world
- 28:55and sacrifice of myself as unto God.
- 28:59If you don't do that. You won't offer sacrifice of
- 29:03praise and you certainly won't offer sacrifice of your purse.
- 29:08You see people meeting, the needs of others is easy, when
- 29:13they've already sacrificed themselves.
- 29:16But sacrificing for the needs of others is very difficult if I'm
- 29:19unwilling to sacrifice myself. For God's purposes for God's
- 29:24glory. So, you return all glory and
- 29:28praise to the Lord by offering a sacrifice of praise to his name.
- 29:36Specific substrate wives, you don't know what circumstances,
- 29:39you know, my situation, you know how bad things are for me?
- 29:44No, I don't but God knows and you hear people say it all the
- 29:50time, you know, I'm like I'm like job.
- 29:53I'm going through all this Affliction and all this
- 29:55difficulty and my answer to that is no no.
- 29:57You haven't read the book of job.
- 29:58If you think you're like job, you haven't read the book.
- 30:01If you read the book, you can realize you're nothing like Joe,
- 30:04because jobs the epitome of suffering and affliction.
- 30:08Beyond anything we could ever imagine.
- 30:10Yet, he honored and glorified his God, and praise His name.
- 30:14And so, we too are to offer sacrifice of praise continually
- 30:19says perpetually. Repeatedly.
- 30:25Listen, if you are constantly offering a sacrifice of praise,
- 30:30there is no room left. For you to grumble.
- 30:36If you're continually offering a sacrifice of Thanksgiving to
- 30:40God, there's no room for you to speak, bitterness and anger.
- 30:47And Grumble and murmur and complain.
- 30:52Because your mouth is filled with praise.
- 30:55That's a sacrifice. because if you look at our lives, They're
- 31:01not necessarily characterized by Praise.
- 31:04The characterized by all sorts of things.
- 31:08And yes, important that we realize.
- 31:11That we offer a sacrifice of praise unto God.
- 31:17Continually. Repeatedly.
- 31:22All the time. We should do this on a regular
- 31:27basis. We should praise him in the
- 31:32midst of your Affliction as bad as it is.
- 31:36You can say, Lord, I Thank you that I'm not like job.
- 31:40And I haven't lost everything. I thank you that I'm not like
- 31:44Joe but I can't sleep at night. I think about why I'm not like
- 31:48Joe because I don't I have the Affliction but I don't have all
- 31:51the loss associated with the Affliction Lord.
- 31:53I Thank you that that I'm not like Joe because I don't have
- 31:56friends like Joe had. I have good friends.
- 31:58I have a church. I have a support system.
- 32:00People that were pray for me people that will love on me,
- 32:02people that were bringing meals. You've been had that But I think
- 32:07it works for what you've done. To give praise to his name.
- 32:13And he talks about offering. A substance to people.
- 32:19Neglect, doing good and sharing for with such brats sacrifices.
- 32:23God is pleased. The great to be able to, please
- 32:27the Lord. Don't you want to please him?
- 32:31When you sacrifice your person, your praise and your purse, he's
- 32:37pleased. Because you're putting him Above
- 32:41All Else. You're returning glory and
- 32:44praise to his name. And that's what God wants us to
- 32:48do. Isaiah 43, 21.
- 32:54The people I have formed for myself.
- 32:57They will declare my praise. It's not optional, it's going to
- 33:02happen. The people I have formed for
- 33:05myself, they will declare my praise.
- 33:07That's just what they do. That's who they are.
- 33:11Their people appraise, read the songs, right?
- 33:14The song was over and over again.
- 33:17It is good to give, thanks unto the Lord.
- 33:19It is good to give praise to the Lord.
- 33:22It is good to give. Thanks to the Lord over and over
- 33:25and over, and over again. Effect.
- 33:30Psalm 33 says this seeing for joy in the Lord O you righteous
- 33:36ones for praise is becoming to the upright, it's fitting for
- 33:44the upright. It is beautiful.
- 33:47For the upright, what makes the person beautiful?
- 33:53Their praise. You ever been around a
- 33:56complainer? You're not very pretty.
- 34:00Your medicine is bitter. They're not very beautiful.
- 34:06But should be around someone who praises the Lord and glorify his
- 34:09name and lifts his name up on high.
- 34:11That's a beautiful person. You want to be around that
- 34:14person. You want to hang out with that
- 34:16person? Because they see God in every
- 34:19situation and every circumstance.
- 34:23Praise is befitting be coming. Is beautiful.
- 34:32For the upright. As you think about this week in
- 34:37passion week in the sacrifice of Christ outside the gate.
- 34:43And how he would bear the sins of the people.
- 34:46In his body. He did that.
- 34:49So that his sacrifice would allow you to be able to receive
- 34:54the beauty of his, his gift of salvation.
- 34:58And she might be set free from your sin.
- 35:01She might learn to praise him. And give yourself to him. and I
- 35:07wonder how many of us today sitting here can actually say I
- 35:13do want to be separate from the world.
- 35:16I don't want the world to control my mind and my, my
- 35:20actions. I don't want to be controlled by
- 35:25a worldly system, that's narcissistic and is antagonistic
- 35:31toward my God. I want to stand firm for him.
- 35:37Remember what Peter says the first Peter 4?
- 35:44Therefore, since Christ has suffered In the Flesh, which he
- 35:47did arm yourselves also with the same purpose.
- 35:51Because he who has suffered In the Flesh has ceased from sin.
- 35:56So as to live the rest of the time in the flesh, no longer for
- 36:00the lust of men, but for the will of God For the time already
- 36:04past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of
- 36:08the Gentiles. Having pursued past tense, a
- 36:12course of sensuality lusts, drunkenness carousing drinking
- 36:18parties and abominable idolatries and all this, they
- 36:22are surprised. That you do not run with them in
- 36:27the Saint excess of dissipation. And they malign you.
- 36:34My testimony. What a testimony that the people
- 36:38used to hang around with? The things you used to do with
- 36:42them. You don't do anymore.
- 36:46Why? Because of Christ's sacrifice on
- 36:50the cross. And you gave your life to
- 36:53Christ. And your friends malign you.
- 36:58And rightly. So, Because you went outside the
- 37:01gate. With outside the city outside
- 37:05the camp. You left the worldly system.
- 37:10You left a legalistic system? You left every human system in
- 37:16went to the Living. God, And gave your life to him.
- 37:22And now your life is filled with sacrifice.
- 37:25Sacrifice of myself and all of my song and all of my substance
- 37:30it's all about God, praising his name.
- 37:32Glorify his name returning, all glory to him, because you're
- 37:36consumed with his glory, not your own, your consumed, with
- 37:39his sacrifice, your consumed, with his finished work on the
- 37:42cross. You're consumed with his honor.
- 37:46Now, your honor. It will cost you.
- 37:51Maybe not right away. but if you stay true to the Lord, And love
- 37:58him, unconditionally and serve him with a whole heart and a
- 38:02ready mind. Those who are not into that.
- 38:07Well, they're going to malign you.
- 38:09Now, what happened? but the good thing is, there's a
- 38:14city. A city in which you are a
- 38:17citizen of. You're going to citizen of
- 38:21America. Or California.
- 38:25Or Los Angeles. You just live here.
- 38:30You have another citizenship. Your sister ships in glory.
- 38:35We are citizens of another country.
- 38:38We are truly aliens and strangers in a foreign land.
- 38:42Do you act as if America's foreign land to you?
- 38:48You act as if the city you live in is a foreign city.
- 38:54Because you don't speak the language of the people in the
- 38:55city. You don't live the life of the
- 39:00people in the city. You know, the Life of Christ.
- 39:06when people see you like, they would see anybody from another
- 39:10country in this land of ours, they would see you as completely
- 39:17different Because the language you speak.
- 39:21Not the language they speak. The life you live is not the
- 39:25life, they live. Why?
- 39:28Because you are a citizen of the great city of God, you're a
- 39:34child of the Living. God, Over the years, I told you
- 39:40umpteen times. My parents used to always say to
- 39:44me, when I left the house, remember who you are?
- 39:49And what you are. You're a child of the king?
- 39:54Live like a child of the king. Dress like a child of the king
- 40:00speak like a child of the king. Because the king is watching.
- 40:05I pray that would be us today. Let's pray together.
- 40:09Father, we thank you Lord, for all you do.
- 40:13You are the king. The king of glory.
- 40:18I pray for everyone in the room. The pull of the world is great.
- 40:24It's so strong. Parents trying to raise their
- 40:28children today. Realizing that their friends are
- 40:33of the world. And they pulled her children in
- 40:36different directions. I pray that you give us
- 40:40strength. And the grace we need to stand
- 40:44strong when the precepts of your word. to live for you and honor
- 40:49you to instruct our children in the ways of God, that they might
- 40:55perceive the city of God, Live with the motivation to honor and
- 41:00glorify their God. I pray.
- 41:04Father for those in the room were struggling.
- 41:07With the things of the world. That Lord, they would treat them
- 41:11as if they're burned carcasses and want to separate themselves
- 41:17from any kind of reminder of their sin.
- 41:21Separate them. Then I live unto Christ and your
- 41:26glory. And Lord.
- 41:30We always pray for those in our midst.
- 41:33To do not know you. It could be any number of
- 41:36people, we don't know. Only, you know that?
- 41:41And we pray and work for them. They realize you're need to go
- 41:45outside of the city of the camp of worldliness.
- 41:49Embrace Christ as their savior. Their Messiah, the deliverer.
- 41:54The true God, the true and living God.
- 41:57Then I live for you. In Jesus name, amen.
