- Lucas: Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Malay with Fexingo? Luna: Ready! But I'm a bit under the weather today, Lucas. Lucas: Oh no, that's not good. Well, it's perfect timing because today we're learning how to talk about feeling sick at the clinic. Luna: Oh, helpful. So if I need to tell someone I'm sick, what do I say? Lucas: Start with 'Saya sakit.' It means 'I am sick.' Let's try it: 'Saya sakit.' Luna: Saya sakit. Lucas: Perfect. 'Saya' is 'I', and 'sakit' means 'sick' or 'pain'. So if you have a fever, you say 'Saya demam.' Demam is fever. Luna: Saya demam. That sounds like what I might have. Lucas: Right. And if your head hurts, say 'Saya pening.' Pening means dizzy or headache. Luna: Saya pening. Oof, I've had that before. Lucas: And if you have a cough, 'Saya batuk.' Batuk is cough. Luna: Saya batuk. We're covering all the symptoms today. Lucas: Let's hear them all once more. Repeat after me: Saya sakit, Saya demam, Saya pening, Saya batuk. Luna: Saya sakit, Saya demam, Saya pening, Saya batuk. Lucas: Great. Now, when you go to the clinic, you need to 'jumpa doktor' — see the doctor. Jumpa means meet, doktor means doctor. Luna: Jumpa doktor. And if the doctor gives you medicine, you 'makan ubat' — take medicine. Makan is eat, but we use it for taking medicine too. Lucas: Exactly. 'Makan ubat.' So let's put it together. Imagine you go to the clinic. You say: 'Saya sakit. Saya demam.' Then you say 'Saya mahu jumpa doktor.' Luna: Saya sakit. Saya demam. Saya mahu jumpa doktor. That makes sense. Lucas: And after seeing the doctor, you 'makan ubat'. Let's do a little role-play. I'll be the doctor. Luna: Okay, Doc. Saya sakit. Saya demam. Lucas: And I say, 'Makan ubat tiga kali sehari.' That means take medicine three times a day. But that's extra for next time. Luna: Three times a day, got it. But for now, 'makan ubat'. Lucas: Right. Before we continue, if this episode has been helpful for you, consider supporting us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It helps us keep the show going. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps. We really appreciate it. Lucas: So, back to the clinic. Let's review all the phrases we learned today. Luna: Saya sakit — I am sick. Saya demam — I have a fever. Saya pening — I feel dizzy. Saya batuk — I have a cough. Lucas: And jumpa doktor, and makan ubat. Excellent, Luna. Luna: I think I can handle a trip to the clinic in Malay now. Hope I don't need it, though. Lucas: Hopefully not. But now you're prepared. That's it for today's session. Practice these phrases until next time. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. Bye bye!
