  Speaker 1: time with God and just reading the Bible, His word

  Speaker 1: to us, and saying, God, speak to me, shape my

  Speaker 1: life by your perspective on life, because if one has
• 0:23
  Speaker 1: the right perspective on life, it's the one who created
• 0:26
  Speaker 1: this world, who put me in it, and has designed
• 0:30
  Speaker 1: my life, and I want to see life as you
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: see it.
• 0:34
  Speaker 1: When we come to God with that kind of learner's attitude,
• 0:37
  Speaker 1: listening attitude, not coming with a, a talking attitude, God,
• 0:42
  Speaker 1: I wanna tell you this, I wanna tell you that,
• 0:43
  Speaker 1: and I want this and I want that, but God,
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: I'm listening. What do you have to say to me today?

  Speaker 1: Then God gets involved in our lives, and our lives
• 0:52
  Speaker 1: are so much better for it. We're talking this week
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: about biblical love.
• 0:58
  Speaker 1: And uh how God's love for us needs to become
• 1:02
  Speaker 1: the foundation of our life, it needs to become the
• 1:04
  Speaker 1: fountain that fills up all of our love needs so
• 1:07
  Speaker 1: that we are then able to be loving people in
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: the lives of the people around us. You know those
• 1:12
  Speaker 1: kind of people.
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: They're the kind of people you love to be around.
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: They're not focused on themselves. When you're around them, you
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: don't feel like they're just trying to get something out
• 1:20
  Speaker 1: of their relationship with you and, and uh meet some
• 1:24
  Speaker 1: need they have, but they're truly giving into your life. Uh,
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: isn't that the kind of person you want to be? Well,
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: the best way to being that kind of a person
• 1:34
  Speaker 1: is to be a person whose own love needs are
• 1:37
  Speaker 1: already met.
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: And truly God has made us so that we need
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: His love in our lives, as one of the church
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: fathers put it, You have made us for Yourself, God,
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: and restless is our heart until it comes to rest
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: in you. Well, we have that restlessness. We have that
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: sense that we need something more, don't we?

  Speaker 1: And so often, rather than looking for it in God's love,
• 2:04
  Speaker 1: we go chasing after all these other things. Uh, someone
• 2:08
  Speaker 1: has pictured it as if we're climbing up a ladder, right?
• 2:11
  Speaker 1: Whether it's the ladder of corporate success or of, uh,
• 2:15
  Speaker 1: wealth or whatever. The problem is that for so many people,
• 2:19
  Speaker 1: they spend all their lives climbing this ladder and they
• 2:21
  Speaker 1: get to the top.
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: And they find out their ladder was against the wrong building.
• 2:26
  Speaker 1: They've been focused on the wrong thing in life, thinking
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: that it would bring them the satisfaction. There's people who
• 2:31
  Speaker 1: finally make it, uh, as movie stars, and then they say, well,
• 2:35
  Speaker 1: what else is there? My life's still empty. Or they
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: make it as, as sporting heroes or, uh, uh, heroes
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: of business, and what they thought would come to their
• 2:46
  Speaker 1: inner life from that success just doesn't come.
• 2:50
  Speaker 1: Listen to what Jesus tells us here in Matthew chapter
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: 6 in the Bible starting in verse 19. He says.
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth where
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
• 3:11
  Speaker 1: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: in or steal, for where your treasure is, there will
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: your heart be also.
• 3:27
  Speaker 1: Don't build your sense of security in life in material
• 3:32
  Speaker 1: things or in your social status or in being popular
• 3:37
  Speaker 1: or getting as much physical pleasure as you can. You
• 3:41
  Speaker 1: just think about the perspective that age will bring you.
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: You ever been with someone on their deathbed when they're dying?
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: Did he ever hear someone who was dying say
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: I wish I'd made more money in life or
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: I wish I'd been more successful in business or I
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: wish I'd been more into pornography. You never hear that
• 4:06
  Speaker 1: from someone who is on their deathbed because suddenly they
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: realise those are not the things that matter in life.
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: They're not the important things.
• 4:17
  Speaker 1: What matters is what is eternal, my relationship with God.
• 4:22
  Speaker 1: My love for other people.
• 4:25
  Speaker 1: So today think about how you can refocus what you're
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: putting your energy into in life. I encourage you to
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: put a little more energy into pursuing your relationship with
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: God and the things that really matter and will last forever.
