- 0:11Speaker 1: How's the golf game? The golf game is terrible. People
- 0:16Speaker 1: love to hear us talk about our obsession with golf.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Before you stop listening to our podcast right now because
- 0:21Speaker 1: we mentioned golf. Hold on.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Please wait.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Don't leave. Let me explain. We have a guest today
- 0:28Speaker 1: who is a legend already. In the sport of golf.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Legends only on our pod. And I first watched her
- 0:37Speaker 1: pop up a couple years ago. And, you know, she's
- 0:41Speaker 1: winning nonstop. And like everybody, I was just blown away
- 0:44Speaker 1: by her play. You know, and she's just skyrocketed from there.
- 0:49Speaker 1: So her current ranking is number one, correct?
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Okay. And she's been there for how long? I don't know, weeks.
- 0:55Speaker 1: That is a mic drop stat. It's over two years. No,
- 0:58Speaker 1: it's two years. Crazy. It's insane. She keeps winning. She's
- 1:03Speaker 1: got like all the sponsorships. And then we saw a
- 1:05Speaker 1: video of her a few weeks ago when we announced
- 1:07Speaker 1: this tour.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:09Speaker 1: She was doing a press conference after one of the
- 1:10Speaker 1: tournaments that she just won and it came up that
- 1:13Speaker 1: we were playing in Tampa because she had tweeted something
- 1:17Speaker 1: or responded to a tweet and then you responded to her.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I was like, please come to the show.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And then she was talking about the thing and guess what?
- 1:24Speaker 1: She's here today.
- 1:24Speaker 2: She's not only here at the show, she's also backstage
- 1:27Speaker 2: of the Hey Jonas podcast.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Let's bring her out. That's awesome. World number one.
- 1:32Speaker 3: So cool.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Nelly Korda. Welcome to the podcast.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Thank you so much for being here.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Thank you for having me.
- 1:38Speaker 2: We are big fans. We are thrilled you're here. It's
- 1:40Speaker 2: very exciting for us. Before you got on, we were
- 1:42Speaker 2: talking about your stats, which are very impressive.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:46Speaker 1: And we're thrilled that you're at the show tonight. And
- 1:49Speaker 1: we're so excited to sit with you.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm sure golf stats aren't very talked about a
- 1:53Speaker 3: lot on this podcast.
- 1:54Speaker 1: You know what?
- 1:54Speaker 5: We talk about our stats.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Our stats aren't very impressive.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I just had my best run at my club recently.
- 2:01Speaker 6: What was it?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Joe's been kind of lighting it up recently. Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You didn't hear about it?
- 2:05Speaker 4: Oh, sorry.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I thought that was on.
- 2:08Speaker 6: I don't follow Joe Jonas live updates. Yeah, that's okay.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't really.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I also am aware that our fans, like, don't want
- 2:14Speaker 2: to hear about my golf stats.
- 2:15Speaker 1: They're not that excited.
- 2:16Speaker 2: But I played the best round of golf at our
- 2:19Speaker 2: club in Miami.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And we'd love to play with you sometime. Both of you.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I didn't know. You guys are in Miami? He's in
- 2:25Speaker 1: the room. He's in Miami. He's in Miami. Not far.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I don't know why I didn't. I might be there soon.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:29Speaker 1: We had a great trip recently. Florida is kind of
- 2:32Speaker 1: having a moment.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it is.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Are you from here originally?
- 2:35Speaker 6: Yeah, born and raised.
- 2:36Speaker 1: From Sarasota.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Bradenton, Sarasota area, yeah. Big shout out.
- 2:40Speaker 1: For those that don't know that are watching or listening
- 2:42Speaker 1: to the pod, you come from an athletic family, to
- 2:45Speaker 1: say the least. Both your parents were pro athletes. Your sister.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And your brother.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 1: All professional athletes.
- 2:51Speaker 6: And big Jonas Brothers fans.
- 2:53Speaker 1: That's great to hear.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Huge.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We love that.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Now, my question for you to start is, was it
- 2:58Speaker 1: a super competitive household?
- 2:59Speaker 3: Well, my sister was five years older, so she was
- 3:02Speaker 3: kind of out of the household playing professional golf before
- 3:06Speaker 3: I was a teenager. And then my brother and I
- 3:09Speaker 3: are two years apart, so Monopoly was always very heated.
- 3:12Speaker 6: Things were flying.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Houses were flying. We had to take a Monopoly break.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Thanksgiving Monopolies.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Nick was just like a tyrant. He knew where to go,
- 3:22Speaker 2: and then I would look up, and he'd be like,
- 3:24Speaker 2: That'll be $ 700. I'm like, we just started the game.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It's like, that's not how we play. Yeah, no, but
- 3:32Speaker 3: it was, it was competitive, but we played different sports.
- 3:35Speaker 3: So it was still like super friendly. Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 6: He was my best friend growing up.
- 3:39Speaker 3: And then as I got older and I got on tour,
- 3:42Speaker 3: my sister and I became inseparable and she is my
- 3:45Speaker 3: best friend.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So great.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So nice. When did you take to golf initially?
- 3:50Speaker 6: So I started when I was two, when I started walking.
- 3:52Speaker 6: So really young.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that'll do it. That explains why we're not so good.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And then I started like transitioning more into like the competitiveness.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And when I was nine, there's a tour called AJJ's
- 4:06Speaker 3: American Junior Golf Association. So you can start playing those
- 4:08Speaker 3: when you're 12. And those give you a chance to
- 4:11Speaker 3: kind of get seen by. recruited by college coaches. So
- 4:15Speaker 3: you play those until you're 18. And then I took
- 4:18Speaker 3: the route of playing professional golf and I turned pro,
- 4:21Speaker 3: finished my senior year on the road and, uh, have
- 4:25Speaker 3: been doing that ever since.
- 4:27Speaker 1: When's more importantly, when was the first time you beat
- 4:29Speaker 1: your older sister?
- 4:30Speaker 6: In a round was my first tournament.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah. That's great. I'm sure that went over really well.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I have the perfect sound for that.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Did you talk that? No, I didn't like that. That's nice.
- 4:45Speaker 6: But we used to play for a handbag a year.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So whoever finished, I think we did that for the
- 4:49Speaker 3: first three years, whoever finished higher on the money list,
- 4:52Speaker 3: the loser had to buy the winner a handbag of
- 4:54Speaker 3: her choice.
- 4:55Speaker 1: We should do that, but with watches. I'm not doing that.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'll take a handbag. What was the bag?
- 5:00Speaker 6: Year one.
- 5:01Speaker 3: One year it was the first year she won and
- 5:04Speaker 3: it was a Louis Vuitton duffel bag.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Fantastic.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Nice.
- 5:07Speaker 6: Love it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: It's good.
- 5:08Speaker 6: I know.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Well, We've been playing golf for many years. Not since
- 5:13Speaker 1: we were two. Not since we were two. We love it.
- 5:16Speaker 1: The only thing we all have in common is that
- 5:17Speaker 1: we're all girl dads. And Kevin's oldest daughter is getting
- 5:20Speaker 1: really into golf. She loves it.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Really?
- 5:22Speaker 1: My wife, Priyanka, and I, we have a nearly five-year-old,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and we're like, we've got to get her on skis
- 5:26Speaker 1: and playing golf. I have shown your clips to her
- 5:29Speaker 1: as an inspiration to get her involved. Same. Don't want
- 5:32Speaker 1: to get too cheesy or sappy, but as girl dads,
- 5:35Speaker 1: it means so much to us that you're representing the sport.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And this great country of the United States of America
- 5:40Speaker 1: with your gold medal win. It means so much. And
- 5:44Speaker 1: I think it, you know, I'm sure you hear this
- 5:46Speaker 1: all the time from, from dads and moms about their,
- 5:49Speaker 1: their girls, but hats off to you. And when we
- 5:52Speaker 1: saw that you wanted to come to the pod and
- 5:54Speaker 1: be on, you know, come to the show, we were
- 5:55Speaker 1: thrilled because it goes deeper than golf for us. And
- 5:59Speaker 1: with that being said, she's five almost. what should be
- 6:03Speaker 1: the first thing we get into with the swing to
- 6:06Speaker 1: really get her hooked?
- 6:07Speaker 6: It's always about the fundamentals. Even I revert back to
- 6:10Speaker 6: the fundamentals.
- 6:11Speaker 3: So knowing how you grip, knowing your weight distribution, like
- 6:14Speaker 3: the small things, but also like at that age, you
- 6:17Speaker 3: want to make it fun.
- 6:18Speaker 6: You want to play a lot of games.
- 6:20Speaker 3: And I had a great coach where we were like
- 6:22Speaker 3: hitting flop shots and, Over trees like she would do
- 6:24Speaker 3: like five minutes of technique work and then the rest
- 6:27Speaker 3: of it kind of was just to play games and
- 6:29Speaker 3: to really like fall in love.
- 6:31Speaker 6: With the game and to kind of fuel my competitiveness.
- 6:35Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Yeah. No, I had great coaches growing up, but I
- 6:39Speaker 3: would say just like make it fun because at that age.
- 6:42Speaker 6: If they're not having fun, it's the last thing that
- 6:44Speaker 6: they want to be doing.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Right, it's a long day if you don't enjoy it.
- 6:46Speaker 5: My daughter is 12, going to be 13 this year,
- 6:48Speaker 5: and she's just fully in.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 6:51Speaker 1: She got her first set of PXGs for Christmas last year.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It was a big deal.
- 6:55Speaker 5: And seeing her ask me, can I please have my
- 6:59Speaker 5: lessons three times a week this year instead.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Of just two? I was like, whatever you want.
- 7:05Speaker 6: You're like, this is what dreams are made of.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, is this real life? That's funny.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It's pretty great. That's awesome.
- 7:10Speaker 6: We need to get her some TaylorMade clothes.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Okay. TaylorMade.
- 7:12Speaker 1: TaylorMade.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you're sponsored by TaylorMade, obviously. Yeah. And there's some
- 7:21Speaker 1: great videos of you playing with Rory and Tiger. What
- 7:26Speaker 1: was that day like? And I love the clip of
- 7:27Speaker 1: you two going back to when you first got to
- 7:30Speaker 1: meet Tiger.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Oh, my gosh.
- 7:32Speaker 6: Still turned red when I see that.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yeah, still kind of a little fangirl moment, as I
- 7:35Speaker 1: did when I first met Rory. Tiger and Freddie Couples
- 7:38Speaker 1: on the same day, which is a pretty big day
- 7:40Speaker 1: for me. Having now met all your heroes, I'm sure,
- 7:45Speaker 1: or maybe there's a few.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Well, I still need to meet Roger Federer, that would be.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Okay. That's on the list.
- 7:50Speaker 6: Yeah, it is, definitely.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Roger.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm going to make that happen if you're watching, Roger. Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 1: He may be.
- 7:54Speaker 3: We don't know.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah. But having met your heroes and probably having had
- 7:58Speaker 1: the chance to play with some of them, What have
- 8:00Speaker 1: those experiences been like? Just as a fan of the game,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm sure, too, and not just a player.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, the experiences that I've had at those
- 8:07Speaker 3: TaylorMade shoots have been unbelievable. I mean, you know, they
- 8:11Speaker 3: we call it like the end of the year super shoot.
- 8:13Speaker 3: So all their ambassadors come in, you know, all those
- 8:16Speaker 3: like videos, those short videos that you see throughout the
- 8:18Speaker 3: entire year.
- 8:19Speaker 6: That's all filmed over two days. Just switching out.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So cool. Where do they usually shoot?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Those kind of goes like all over West Palm Jupiter area.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So we got a clip here.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Oh.
- 8:30Speaker 1: These are highlights. Because why not? I love it. Are
- 8:36Speaker 1: you guys one of those? Hold on. Can we pause
- 8:37Speaker 1: it for a second? Did they actually count that?
- 8:39Speaker 3: No.
- 8:40Speaker 6: If your intention is not to hit it, then you can.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Read to it. Right, but if you were, like, ready
- 8:44Speaker 1: to go and that happens.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, if correct, then it counts as one.
- 8:49Speaker 3: But it wouldn't be because you're not even making, like,
- 8:51Speaker 3: a full swing. Like, if you were at the top
- 8:53Speaker 3: of your swing and you kind of bump it forward,
- 8:55Speaker 3: that would be considered you wanting to hit it.
- 8:59Speaker 1: It's a golf move, essentially. I know this is, like,
- 9:01Speaker 1: the golden ticket of golf.
- 9:03Speaker 2: But, like, when you're in a situation where you're like,
- 9:06Speaker 2: all right, I've got thousands of people watching me hit
- 9:09Speaker 2: off the first hole here, the first tee.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Like for you, like what locks you in mentally?
- 9:14Speaker 2: Because I think like in our, in our golf world,
- 9:17Speaker 2: it's three people and we're still like, they're like, Oh
- 9:20Speaker 2: my God, it's just happening.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 6: But that's what I would be doing on that stage.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Let's be honest.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So for you, what, what locks you in?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Like, I guess my routine, like, you know, some people
- 9:30Speaker 3: call it superstition, but like a routine, it's like always
- 9:33Speaker 3: something that you fall back on.
- 9:34Speaker 6: It's the same over and over and over again.
- 9:37Speaker 3: But when you get a little nervous and they're, they're
- 9:39Speaker 3: excitement jitters, it's not like, nervousness where it's like a
- 9:42Speaker 3: bad nervousness, but they're like excited to go again, being
- 9:45Speaker 3: on that first tee if it's.
- 9:47Speaker 6: For a major. And like, for me, it's my routine.
- 9:50Speaker 6: I fall back on it.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I have my practice swing. I lock into my target,
- 9:54Speaker 3: talk to my caddy and then I go. Right.
- 9:57Speaker 1: So this clip, so these are all like highlight clips of,
- 9:59Speaker 1: how amazing you are obviously but like watching this and
- 10:02Speaker 1: I've seen it before it's just your consistency at the
- 10:05Speaker 1: ball your move at the ball seems to be so
- 10:07Speaker 1: It's insane. Consistent. I mean, there's no other way to
- 10:09Speaker 1: put it. Does it feel that way every time you
- 10:11Speaker 1: get up there or is it really something you have
- 10:13Speaker 1: to lock into mentally?
- 10:14Speaker 6: Oh, my God.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Some days it feels so bad. Like some days I'm
- 10:18Speaker 3: looking back at my caddy. I'm hitting it right. I'm
- 10:20Speaker 3: hitting it left. My body's not moving properly. I mean,
- 10:24Speaker 3: you know, when you travel so much, like you wake
- 10:27Speaker 3: up and there's days where you just feel like trash.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You just didn't sleep well.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 1: The flight was longer than expected. I travel with a
- 10:33Speaker 1: pillow now. I'm at that age. Oh, yeah? That's my
- 10:36Speaker 1: golden ticket right there.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I always travel with a pillow.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah. If I don't have my pillow, I'm done. Okay.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Let's talk about travel. What's your travel must-haves?
- 10:43Speaker 6: There's a couple. I mean, a pillow for sure.
- 10:46Speaker 1: You travel with a pillow. Yeah, definitely. Changed my life.
- 10:48Speaker 1: That's his move, too. Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 6: I mean, I would say my facial stuff, too, like
- 10:53Speaker 6: my cream.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Skincare.
- 10:53Speaker 6: That's a must-have skincare for sure.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Sunscreen.
- 10:57Speaker 6: I overpack. I'm an overpacker. I don't know about you guys.
- 10:59Speaker 1: We are overpackers. Yeah, we're overpackers. Pretty much. We have
- 11:02Speaker 1: an entire room here.
- 11:03Speaker 5: It's called Boardrope, and it's got all of our clothes,
- 11:05Speaker 5: and that we don't bring on stage.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Just clothes for life. These are things we're supposed to
- 11:10Speaker 1: keep private. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 11:13Speaker 6: Well, it just depends on what you're feeling that day.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You just don't know. Exactly.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Like maybe you wake up and you're like, ooh, I
- 11:18Speaker 6: want to feel a little funkier. So you want to
- 11:20Speaker 6: put on a funky shirt.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Now, I'm curious.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Do you still go and play for fun or do
- 11:25Speaker 2: you find it always practice is still even with practice?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Are you able to enjoy it or is it like, OK,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I got to lock in?
- 11:30Speaker 6: I like to play alone. I'm a loner out there.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I just like when I'm there, when I'm out on
- 11:34Speaker 3: the golf course, like I have to give it 100%.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And I'm always, like, practicing. But I'm having fun. Like, I'll, like,
- 11:41Speaker 3: skip off the tee. Like, I'm there, like, with my coach, obviously.
- 11:44Speaker 3: But I'm like, I hit a good shot.
- 11:45Speaker 6: And I'm like, oh, my God, that was so good. Like,
- 11:48Speaker 6: I'm still, like, a little girl.
- 11:51Speaker 1: When I'm at golf.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And I tell myself all the time, when I'm not
- 11:54Speaker 3: like that, then I think it's time to kind of
- 11:57Speaker 3: reassess what I'm doing. But right now, like, I'm feeling
- 11:59Speaker 3: the jitters on the first tee. I want to feel that.
- 12:02Speaker 6: And I'm also.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Excited when I'm going out to practice like I'm completely
- 12:06Speaker 3: burnt out when I'm like, okay, I need to go
- 12:09Speaker 3: practice I don't want to go but I need to
- 12:11Speaker 3: go sure.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, right. I'm speaking of jitters in the first tee
- 12:15Speaker 1: I did want to mention this I had the chance
- 12:17Speaker 1: to play Augusta few years back I did a commercial
- 12:19Speaker 1: shoot with Jordan Spieth for AT & T and then
- 12:22Speaker 1: one of the things that was part of the other
- 12:24Speaker 1: like and we have a slot for you to play
- 12:25Speaker 1: Monday after the tournament and Joe and I would all
- 12:29Speaker 1: the pins are in the same place same place.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Oh god, I And I got to the first tee
- 12:32Speaker 1: and I swear to God, I thought I was having
- 12:33Speaker 1: a heart attack. And everyone was like, why? You play
- 12:36Speaker 1: all the time and you weren't playing for money or
- 12:38Speaker 1: like in a tournament. And I just said that the
- 12:41Speaker 1: history of it, you could just feel it when you're
- 12:43Speaker 1: playing there. And, um, and also it's because I think
- 12:46Speaker 1: to your point, like we, we feel that way about
- 12:48Speaker 1: what we do. Like we still get butterflies in our
- 12:50Speaker 1: stomach and hear the crowd. You're like, okay, performance is
- 12:53Speaker 1: where you lock into your routine on tour. And it
- 12:56Speaker 1: is like, this is my job and I'm approaching it
- 12:58Speaker 1: this way. But if you don't feel that thing within
- 12:59Speaker 1: you when you play a new song or, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 1: even times where we're like, we've been sick and we
- 13:04Speaker 1: have to get up there and still try to do
- 13:06Speaker 1: our best. Um, when you're in those moments, what is,
- 13:11Speaker 1: what is the thing that draws you back? Is it
- 13:12Speaker 1: family and friends? Uh, if I may say you, you
- 13:14Speaker 1: got engaged recently. Congratulations. Congrats. Um, is that the thing
- 13:19Speaker 1: that grounds you back to, to kind of real life
- 13:21Speaker 1: to pull you back and make you your best?
- 13:23Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I think also like going home and not having any distractions,
- 13:29Speaker 3: like going home and like it being like I'm going
- 13:31Speaker 3: to go. I'll have one day off to kind of
- 13:33Speaker 3: reset my body. And then after it's like gym, golf, gym, golf, gym, golf.
- 13:37Speaker 3: But that's what excites me.
- 13:38Speaker 6: I don't know. Some people like don't want that.
- 13:42Speaker 3: But that's what like my batteries just get reenergized that way.
- 13:45Speaker 6: Like I'm I'm just I guess athletes are crazy. Some
- 13:49Speaker 6: people are crazy. The people that are the most passionate about.
- 13:51Speaker 1: What they do.
- 13:52Speaker 3: In a sense are a little crazy about what they do,
- 13:55Speaker 3: but I feel like they give it their all for
- 13:57Speaker 3: the time that they do it.
- 13:58Speaker 5: I think we kind of feel that way more speaking
- 14:01Speaker 5: for myself, but like when we're on tour, when we
- 14:02Speaker 5: get into that rhythm and we're doing these shows, you know,
- 14:04Speaker 5: back to back, sometimes three, sometimes four nights a week
- 14:07Speaker 5: in a row as well. It's, it's a, it can
- 14:09Speaker 5: be a grind, but at the same time getting out there,
- 14:13Speaker 5: it's just like, I cannot believe someone let us do this.
- 14:16Speaker 1: This is my life. This is insane. I feel like
- 14:18Speaker 1: hobbies are really important outside of the world. totally. Um,
- 14:20Speaker 1: for us, that's, And golf and ping pong and whatever else.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Do you have a hobby?
- 14:26Speaker 6: I like going to the gym. I like going out
- 14:28Speaker 6: on the boat. I like hanging out with my family.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Stuff like I don't get to do because I'm by
- 14:33Speaker 3: myself on tour all the time.
- 14:35Speaker 6: I'm jealous.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Like you guys, when you tour, like you guys are
- 14:37Speaker 3: all kind of together. I'm sure you guys are sick
- 14:39Speaker 3: of each other after the days.
- 14:42Speaker 5: We've learned to let each other not have to be,
- 14:45Speaker 5: we don't have to be with each other.
- 14:46Speaker 1: All day long.
- 14:47Speaker 6: But I'm by myself. Like I, I travel by myself.
- 14:51Speaker 3: I lug my luggage by myself. When I'm on the
- 14:53Speaker 3: golf course, I have my team, my physio and my caddy.
- 14:56Speaker 3: But then when we're not on the golf course, I'm
- 14:58Speaker 3: by myself. Yeah. Right. And so like when I'm home,
- 15:01Speaker 3: I want to see like my people. And that's what
- 15:04Speaker 3: kind of, helps me kind of bring me back to reality.
- 15:07Speaker 1: How do you decompress?
- 15:08Speaker 5: Because after we do a show, it takes us hours
- 15:11Speaker 5: to kind of come down from it, whether it's food
- 15:13Speaker 5: and hanging out together or whatever and decompressing from the show.
- 15:16Speaker 5: But what do you do after winning everything all the time?
- 15:20Speaker 6: Well, the post-win meal is always Five Guy Burgers.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Oh, fantastic choice. What's your order?
- 15:27Speaker 6: I like mustard, ketchup, mushrooms, and that's it.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I love it. I love that you closed your eyes
- 15:35Speaker 1: for that because you're visualizing.
- 15:37Speaker 6: I'm visualizing the bite.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Well, we actually have a mustard.
- 15:40Speaker 3: No.
- 15:41Speaker 1: We do have a lot of bread around, but that
- 15:43Speaker 1: was for a game earlier. Sorry. That's great.
- 15:46Speaker 2: And then I guess, okay, so then also for the times,
- 15:49Speaker 2: which doesn't happen often, that maybe you didn't perform your best.
- 15:52Speaker 1: What's the decompress for that?
- 15:54Speaker 3: It is always to put the clubs away for a
- 15:56Speaker 3: little bit if I have the time. If I only
- 15:58Speaker 3: have a week, it's back to grind mode. And thankfully,
- 16:02Speaker 3: I've been with my caddy for... Close to nine years.
- 16:06Speaker 1: What was your caddy's name? Jason. All right. Shout out, Jason.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Jason.
- 16:10Speaker 6: He's going to love that. But he like he's always
- 16:13Speaker 6: in my corner.
- 16:14Speaker 3: That's I think the best thing about my career that
- 16:17Speaker 3: I love so much is my team. Yeah, I'm winning
- 16:21Speaker 3: and I'm hitting the shots, but there's so much going
- 16:23Speaker 3: on behind the scenes and like I wouldn't be where
- 16:26Speaker 3: I am without them.
- 16:27Speaker 6: So I always make sure that they.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:30Speaker 1: There's a guy.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yep.
- 16:32Speaker 6: Great shades.
- 16:33Speaker 3: He was crying so much. He was like giving an
- 16:35Speaker 3: interview to someone. And I still to this day refuse
- 16:39Speaker 3: to watch that interview because he was like I he
- 16:41Speaker 3: was sobbing during it. But that's like how much like
- 16:45Speaker 3: our life together like means to him to his wife
- 16:48Speaker 3: played on tour. I've played a playoff against her and
- 16:52Speaker 3: I remember I love his wife.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Yeah I was like I know dude I'm sorry bruh
- 17:00Speaker 1: I promise you I'm giving you good reads right.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Now yeah I love Caro his wife but when we
- 17:06Speaker 3: were walking on to the first tee of the playoff
- 17:08Speaker 3: I was like remember what team you're on wow.
- 17:12Speaker 4: I love it lock in the ultimate test you've won
- 17:18Speaker 4: a lot of trophies won a lot of medals and
- 17:20Speaker 4: and uh i gotta ask where where do you keep
- 17:23Speaker 4: it in the house are they on one shelf and
- 17:26Speaker 4: scattered around what's the vibe.
- 17:27Speaker 3: They're scattered in my office i've i have like floating
- 17:30Speaker 3: shelves i have like a shelf dedicated to the olympics
- 17:34Speaker 3: so i have like a plaque that actually Jason got me.
- 17:36Speaker 3: I have like the lanyard with my badge and my,
- 17:39Speaker 3: all the stuff that I got throughout the week. And
- 17:41Speaker 3: then I have like a major one and then.
- 17:45Speaker 6: They're like kind of all scattered all over the office.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I have that too, but it's a people that have
- 17:49Speaker 1: won all those things and not my memorabilia room.
- 17:52Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Joe also is into memorabilia and collects Pokemon cards. That's
- 17:57Speaker 1: his kind of like decompress hobby. Talk about golf. We've
- 17:59Speaker 1: heard that you're super into Legos. Is that accurate?
- 18:02Speaker 6: Yeah, pretty.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:03Speaker 6: I started last year.
- 18:05Speaker 1: It's so fun.
- 18:05Speaker 6: Another way to decompress for sure.
- 18:07Speaker 1: It really is.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:09Speaker 1: You kind of like disconnect.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I love that there's vending machines now at the airports
- 18:12Speaker 5: and there's Lego vending machines.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And you can take them. I'd love to see somebody
- 18:16Speaker 1: try to build a Lego on a flight though. I
- 18:17Speaker 1: did it with Valentina last time. On a flight?
- 18:21Speaker 6: But you're losing the pieces.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I know.
- 18:22Speaker 1: They're just falling all over the place. No turbulence.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 18:25Speaker 1: But it was so fun.
- 18:26Speaker 5: We just built a Lego while we were flying home together.
- 18:28Speaker 5: I was like, this is incredible.
- 18:30Speaker 6: Yeah, it's so funny. Like fans giving me Legos.
- 18:33Speaker 3: But at the end of the week and I'm like,
- 18:35Speaker 3: I don't know if I can fit these in my suitcase.
- 18:37Speaker 6: Like I'll get like four at a time. And I'm like,
- 18:40Speaker 6: it's Sunday. I wish you guys gave it to me
- 18:41Speaker 6: on Monday.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:43Speaker 1: That is funny because, you know, there have been times
- 18:45Speaker 1: where we've mentioned something in an interview or on the
- 18:48Speaker 1: podcast about something we're really into. And then we just.
- 18:51Speaker 1: get sort of inundated with those things.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And guess what? We've done that to you today. We've
- 18:56Speaker 1: done it today. There's something here for you.
- 18:58Speaker 3: No way.
- 18:59Speaker 1: It's a bit of a game, though. It's a bit
- 19:01Speaker 1: of a game. We'll find a bag for you to
- 19:02Speaker 1: put it in. And guess what? It is also a Sunday.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Oh. Yeah. It's fine.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I'm going home. If you're down to play, we're going
- 19:08Speaker 1: to try this game out. We historically are not very
- 19:11Speaker 1: good at games on this podcast, but we always try.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That's kind of the beauty of it. Our producer has
- 19:16Speaker 1: some rapid fire questions. Ooh, let's go. They're Lego related.
- 19:20Speaker 3: No.
- 19:21Speaker 1: No, they're just life. We're just doing Legos while we
- 19:24Speaker 1: do this? Oh, I get to do it too? That's
- 19:26Speaker 1: so fun. The drink cart comes around.
- 19:28Speaker 2: What's your go-to golfing drink?
- 19:30Speaker 6: Oh.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Go-to golfing drink. I'm sure you don't drink water. Yeah, electrolytes.
- 19:36Speaker 1: But on just a friendly round where you're not competing,
- 19:39Speaker 1: would you ever?
- 19:39Speaker 6: I've never had an alcoholic beverage on a golf course.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I would never recommend that. I'll tell you what. Neither
- 19:46Speaker 1: have we. Yep. Never heard of it. So electrolytes. that's
- 19:51Speaker 1: why I'm bad at golf. Got it.
- 19:54Speaker 6: You got to fuel the body, guys.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yeah, fuel it. Yes, I guess I need more of it.
- 19:58Speaker 6: I've also never had an alcoholic beverage before a competitive round.
- 20:04Speaker 1: That's also smart. That's great.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Not like before, like let's say I'm teeing off at
- 20:08Speaker 3: 1 p.m. and I'm having a beverage at 11, but I'm.
- 20:10Speaker 1: At the night before. It's like a pilot wouldn't have
- 20:12Speaker 1: a drink the night before. That's great. That's smart. Let's
- 20:16Speaker 1: hope not.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Where's the directions?
- 20:17Speaker 1: This is complicated.
- 20:20Speaker 6: This is a real challenge for you.
- 20:22Speaker 1: What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done on a
- 20:24Speaker 1: golf course? Oh, that's for all of us. Oh, easy, actually.
- 20:27Speaker 6: I never slam my clubs.
- 20:29Speaker 3: And the first year I started playing, Jason started caddying
- 20:33Speaker 3: for me. I took the butt end of the club,
- 20:36Speaker 3: so I gripped it by the head of the club,
- 20:38Speaker 3: and I slammed it into the ground right in front
- 20:40Speaker 3: of him, and it ricocheted back and hit me into
- 20:42Speaker 3: the mouth, and I had.
- 20:43Speaker 1: A bloody lip. I thought I knocked out my teeth.
- 20:46Speaker 6: And he was like, I thought if I laughed... I
- 20:49Speaker 6: would get fired right there.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Was that the one and last time
- 20:54Speaker 1: you've done it? Yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Correct. That would be probably the most embarrassing thing because
- 20:59Speaker 3: it just... I mean, that's karma right there.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, right?
- 21:02Speaker 3: Wow.
- 21:03Speaker 6: What about y'all? I want to hear this.
- 21:05Speaker 1: The most embarrassing thing? Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Oh, actually, we were members of a club in Texas,
- 21:10Speaker 5: and me and Nick were playing a round of golf,
- 21:13Speaker 5: and I backed up and forgot that there was a
- 21:16Speaker 5: sand trap behind us.
- 21:18Speaker 3: What?
- 21:19Speaker 1: But he was flooring it for some reason.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 5: And we went very quickly over the edge, over the back,
- 21:27Speaker 5: and into the sand trap.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:29Speaker 1: But we were both okay, and the cart was okay.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And it was okay. And guess what? And we have
- 21:32Speaker 1: to say that for legal reasons. And guess what? No
- 21:34Speaker 1: one knew the wiser, and we got that cart out
- 21:37Speaker 1: of there and kept on going.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Did you rake the bunker?
- 21:39Speaker 1: We raked that bunker.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Nice.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Never.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I'm proud.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Because it became very, very big news in the community
- 21:45Speaker 5: the next day, though, because some other kids stole a
- 21:48Speaker 5: golf cart and put it in the lake. And so
- 21:51Speaker 5: our little bunker issue was not a problem.
- 21:55Speaker 4: I love that.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I'm, like, highly distracted now that we have Legos. Nick's
- 21:58Speaker 1: opening number two already. Well, of course not.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Which celebrity would you most want in your foursome?
- 22:06Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Bill Murray. I think he seems like a good hang
- 22:10Speaker 1: on the course, I should say. Probably in real life, too.
- 22:14Speaker 6: Hmm.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Do we get to fill out the whole foursome? Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 1: why not? Okay, so I'd love to play with you,
- 22:21Speaker 1: Nellie Korda. Yeah, that'd be amazing. My wife also was
- 22:26Speaker 1: very excited about this, and she's like, I'd love to
- 22:28Speaker 1: play with Nellie Korda if we get the chance. Let's
- 22:31Speaker 1: make this happen. And then, I feel like we gotta
- 22:35Speaker 1: throw somebody in there that's just gonna make us laugh
- 22:37Speaker 1: the whole time. It's not gonna be Joe. It's not
- 22:41Speaker 1: gonna be me. It's not gonna be Kevin.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Uh....
- 22:45Speaker 6: Adam Sandler?
- 22:46Speaker 1: Adam Sandler's a great pick. That's a great answer. Adam,
- 22:49Speaker 1: let's do it. And he's a great golfer.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he is.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Well, I'm speaking to you about being great golfers. You know,
- 22:55Speaker 5: within reason, a good golfer.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I met him during the movie that we filmed for.
- 23:04Speaker 1: You were in Happy Gilmore.
- 23:05Speaker 6: Happy Gilmore.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Thank you. So awesome.
- 23:06Speaker 6: I'm like dialed into Legos right now.
- 23:09Speaker 1: It does take over your brain. It's pretty great.
- 23:13Speaker 6: And he was so nice. Oh, my gosh.
- 23:15Speaker 1: He's so sweet. He's so great.
- 23:16Speaker 5: He accidentally chatted me with a group of people that
- 23:21Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I think he thought he was Kevin James. And it
- 23:24Speaker 1: was Kevin James, not Kevin Jonas. That's great. That's tough.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And it was the picture of a still from a
- 23:30Speaker 1: movie that he's working on. And he goes, this is
- 23:32Speaker 1: the poster. And I replied, looks awesome. Wish I was
- 23:36Speaker 1: in it. That's hilarious. That's just me telling everyone I
- 23:40Speaker 1: got cool famous friends, guys. Yeah, name drop much. If
- 23:43Speaker 1: you could break one rule of golf without anyone knowing,
- 23:46Speaker 1: what would it be?
- 23:47Speaker 6: Without anyone knowing. Hitting from a divot when you're in
- 23:51Speaker 6: the middle of the fairway.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yeah, what are we doing about that?
- 23:54Speaker 6: I know, it's tough. But you know what?
- 23:56Speaker 3: I always say, like, it's come up in conversation a
- 23:59Speaker 3: couple times with my friends.
- 24:00Speaker 6: There is an art to hitting out of a divot
- 24:04Speaker 6: from a fairway.
- 24:05Speaker 1: What is it?
- 24:06Speaker 6: You put it more back in your stance.
- 24:07Speaker 3: You grip a little bit more on like a little
- 24:10Speaker 3: bit more down on the club because in a way
- 24:12Speaker 3: like it's kind of like a bunker shot. So you're
- 24:15Speaker 3: trying to hit the ball first and you're just a
- 24:18Speaker 3: lot steeper.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Okay.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 6: So there is an art.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Cool.
- 24:21Speaker 1: So I can totally do that without thinking about it
- 24:23Speaker 1: at all. Yeah, exactly. We could just do what Kevin
- 24:26Speaker 1: does and just move it. Yeah. Just move it. Kidding.
- 24:29Speaker 1: All right, let's pause on the Legos for now because
- 24:33Speaker 1: we have more fun questions to ask and some questions
- 24:35Speaker 1: from some of our Hey Jonas listeners.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Things people want to know.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Oh, there's a video. First up. First up. I know
- 24:42Speaker 1: this person. This is Kev's daughter, Alina.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Hi, Nellie.
- 24:46Speaker 6: As an up-and-coming golfer, what do you think I should
- 24:48Speaker 6: focus on most?
- 24:49Speaker 3: I would say what she should focus on, dad, would
- 24:56Speaker 3: be probably short game. Yeah. A lot of short game.
- 24:59Speaker 3: There's a drill that I love doing when I was younger.
- 25:02Speaker 3: It's called the six ball drill.
- 25:04Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 25:04Speaker 3: So you pick like a easy, medium and hard and
- 25:08Speaker 3: you have to make six up and downs.
- 25:11Speaker 6: In a row.
- 25:11Speaker 3: And if you don't, then you can't move on to
- 25:14Speaker 3: the next one or you can't leave. I've been there
- 25:16Speaker 3: for like two hours, three hours from one spot because
- 25:21Speaker 3: I did not make six up and downs in a row.
- 25:23Speaker 6: So like a bunker shot, you have to actually make
- 25:25Speaker 6: the putt too.
- 25:27Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 25:27Speaker 6: It's challenging. Very tough.
- 25:28Speaker 1: That's awesome. But on that.
- 25:30Speaker 6: Sixth putt, you're feeling pressure.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 6: So then you can kind of like, that's what you
- 25:36Speaker 6: feel out on the golf course. So it's kind of
- 25:37Speaker 6: like training both.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I love that. It's really great. I think that could
- 25:40Speaker 1: be just thrown in with any golfer fan. Thank you.
- 25:43Speaker 1: She will greatly appreciate that. Oh, we got to do
- 25:45Speaker 1: the bowl question.
- 25:46Speaker 3: One more.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Bowl question.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:49Speaker 1: So bowl questions are just random questions. Okay. It has
- 25:51Speaker 1: nothing to do with anything. We didn't write them. Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 1: No pressure.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Oops.
- 25:54Speaker 6: Do you trust the expiration date or your nose?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Well, I trust my nose when it comes to milk.
- 25:59Speaker 3: But expiration date, usually on everything else.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Milk will tell you. You can tell. You just
- 26:08Speaker 1: kind of know. All right. Thank you again for coming.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Hope you enjoy the show tonight. Yes, congrats.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Anything at all.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Talk to Kevin. Just kidding. Our doors are open. Our
- 26:19Speaker 1: doors are open. And we hope you guys have the
