- 0:05he knows the worship lyrics by heart, but when no one is watching,
- 0:09when the cameras are off, when it's just you and him,
- 0:13does his private character match his public Christianity?

- 1:51Hey sis, welcome back to another episode of Girl Date the Good Guy. It's your girl, Emily.
- 1:57And today we are stepping into discernment. I just feel the Holy Spirit saying,
- 2:02level up your discernment.
- 2:04It is so important to discern the character of a man who shows up in church
- 2:09spaces, who has the persona of being a wonderful Christian guy.
- 2:14Because what we're actually looking for is fruit behind closed doors.
- 2:19If his character is not the same in private as it is in public,
- 2:24you are dealing with a wolf in sheep's clothing.
- 2:28And this isn't paranoia. This isn't judgment.
- 2:31This is discernment. Because scripture already warned us in Matthew 7,
- 2:3615, Jesus said, Be aware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing,
- 2:41but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
- 2:45Sis, this doesn't just apply to pulpits. It applies to dating too.
- 2:49So I want to give you a few teaching points today to help you better discern.
- 2:54Number one, words are easy.
- 2:57Fruit is evidence. Okay, Matthew 7, 16, you will recognize them by their fruits.
- 3:03You know, I'm always quoting that scripture, sis, because it's so important.
- 3:08Charm can be rehearsed. Scripture can be memorized. Spiritual language can be learned.
- 3:15Fruit cannot be faked long term. This is so important. If you evaluate his vocabulary,
- 3:22you will miss his character.
- 3:24What you're looking for is consistency, integrity, humility,
- 3:31accountability, emotional self-control.
- 3:35Now, not perfection, but patterns. Patterns tell the truth.
- 3:40Don't be impressed by his words. Be anchored in his fruit.
- 3:44And here's something practical. When you're dating, slow down.
- 3:49Listen more than you talk. Do not overshare immediately, especially if you've
- 3:54come out of toxic relationships or abusive relationships.
- 3:59People with hidden motives will study your wounds and use them later.
- 4:05So go slow, let him talk.
- 4:08Patterns always reveal themselves when you listen.
- 4:13So point number one says, follow the pattern, all right?
- 4:17Teaching point number two, public Christianity is easy.
- 4:22Private discipline reveals maturity.
- 4:26James 1.22, be doers of the word and not hearers only. A man can worship loudly
- 4:34and still struggle with private compromise.
- 4:37Ask yourself, does he honor God when it costs him something?
- 4:42Anyone can perform on Sunday. Characters revealed Monday through Saturday.
- 4:48Look for signs of private fruit. He respects physical boundaries.
- 4:54He doesn't pressure you emotionally or physically. He handles conflict without manipulation.
- 5:04He can receive correction without defensiveness.
- 5:09Private obedience reveals true character.
- 5:13If he cannot submit to God in private, sis, he is not a God-led man.
- 5:21He is a wolf in sheep's clothing that acts like it in public.
- 5:26Point number three, a wolf doesn't show his teeth immediately.
- 5:312 Corinthians 11.14 says, Satan himself disguises it as an angel of light.
- 5:39Deception often starts soft. Gentle tone, deep talks, fast bonding, intense connection.
- 5:47But over time, you will notice, or you may notice, supple control,
- 5:53shifting blame, playing the victim, making you doubt yourself.
- 5:59Fast emotional attachment. Let me say this clearly.
- 6:03Fast bonding is not always healthy bonding. If you are coming out of toxicity,
- 6:09you cannot afford to bond fast.
- 6:11You need clarity before you give your heart.
- 6:15Galatians 5.22 tells us the fruit of the Spirit includes peace.
- 6:19If you feel confused more than secure, something is off.
- 6:24Because confusion is not a fruit of the Spirit. Peaces.
- 6:29Take your time. Guard your heart.
- 6:32Discernment is wisdom, not fear. I hope this is helping you.
- 6:37Point number four. A God-led man leads with responsibility, not performance.
- 6:43Ephesians 5.25. Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave
- 6:49himself up for her. A God-led man sacrifices.
- 6:53He does not consume. He protects. He does not pressure. He builds. He doesn't just bond.
- 7:01Real masculinity is leadership under God, not dominance, not ego,
- 7:08not spiritual showmanship.
- 7:10If he cannot lead himself, he cannot lead you.
- 7:14So for your royal reflection, I want you to sit with this.
- 7:18When no one is watching, is he honorable? Is he patient?
- 7:23Is he self-controlled? Is he consistent? Or does the mask slip?
- 7:29Fruit is revealed in privacy, pressure, and patterns.
- 7:33And this week, instead of asking, does he love God? I want you to ask these questions.
- 7:39How does he treat me when he's frustrated?
- 7:42How does he respond when I say no? How does he handle accountability?
- 7:49Do I feel peace or pressure around him?
- 7:53Discernment is not judgment, sis. It is protection. and we have to protect our hearts.
- 8:00Let's pray. Father God, thank you for discernment.
- 8:05Sharpen our spiritual eyes. Guard our hearts from deception.
- 8:09Remove emotional blindness. Teach us to look beyond performance and into patterns.
- 8:15If there is any wolf disguised as a sheep in our lives, expose it gently but clearly.
- 8:23Give us courage to slow down. courage to ask better questions,
- 8:28and courage to walk away from inconsistency.
- 8:31Prepare us for men whose private obedience matches their public confession.
- 8:38Let peace be our confirmation. Let fruit be our evidence. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
- 8:46Thank you so, so much for being here today. And if this episode sharpens your
- 8:50discernment, share it with a sister who needs clarity too.
- 8:54And don't forget to subscribe to Girl Date the Good Guy so you don't miss any
- 8:57episodes. And if you're ready to stop entertaining wolves and start preparing
- 9:01for covenant, come join the Royal Guard community. It is our private Facebook group.
- 9:07The link is down in the show notes.
- 9:09And remember, sis, we are not impressed by church attendance anymore.
- 9:14We are not impressed by Bible verses and bios. Those things are great.
- 9:18We are looking for real fruit.
- 9:22Consistency, humility, covering. because a good guy is not loud about faith. He lives it.
- 9:29And when his public faith matches his private fruit, that's alignment. I love you, sis.
- 9:35I'll see you in the next episode. Bye for now.
- 9:38Sis, you did that. You showed up for your healing and that is royal energy.
- 9:43If this episode challenged you, grew you, or called you higher,
- 9:47share it with another sister who's ready to reclaim her crown too.
- 9:50And if you've got 30 seconds, it would bless me big if you'd leave a review
- 9:54on Apple Podcasts. It helps more women step into their royal identity and join
- 9:59the Good Guys Society movement.
- 10:01Until next time, keep your crown on, your standard tie, and your heart in royal alignment.
