- 0:08Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? Everyone? Welcome into another episode of
- 0:11Speaker 1: The Checho Daily. It's Andrew di Checho, Eagles beat reporter
- 0:15Speaker 1: for insidethe birds dot Com. I just made it back
- 0:18Speaker 1: from Baltimore, so I am recording this podcast in the
- 0:21Speaker 1: wee hours of the morning, but I wanted to make
- 0:23Speaker 1: sure that I recorded this so that you all can
- 0:26Speaker 1: hear my takeaways as soon as possible. It was an
- 0:30Speaker 1: ugly one there in Baltimore at Mt. M and T
- 0:34Speaker 1: Banks Stadium. The Eagles fall twenty four to seven, and
- 0:38Speaker 1: there was not a lot of offence to speak of
- 0:40Speaker 1: for Philadelphia, but it's the preseason. Keep in mind that
- 0:45Speaker 1: there were virtually no starters playing in this game, and
- 0:49Speaker 1: so there's not a ton that you can glean from it.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But there are certain position groups and players individually that
- 0:57Speaker 1: I was keeping an eye on in this one. But
- 0:59Speaker 1: let's put things into perspective here, because Andy Dalton started
- 1:03Speaker 1: this game, Tanner McKee came in afterwards, and then Cole
- 1:08Speaker 1: Payton got the fourth quarter, and it was not pretty
- 1:12Speaker 1: for perspective. Andy Dalton completed three of six passes for
- 1:18Speaker 1: twenty yards, Tanner McKee six of ten for thirty five yards.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And then rookie Cole Payton went four for nine for
- 1:25Speaker 1: thirty seven and a touchdown. He also added three carries
- 1:29Speaker 1: for forty five yards, and that was that final that
- 1:32Speaker 1: scoring drive. It they had that covered about nine plays
- 1:35Speaker 1: where I think fifty nine yards. A lot of it
- 1:38Speaker 1: was via the ground game for Cole Peyton, he kind
- 1:42Speaker 1: of took it upon himself to move the football down
- 1:44Speaker 1: the field and he had some interesting throws at some points.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But that's kind of mirroring what I've written about and
- 1:53Speaker 1: talked about in training camp. He's an interesting and fun
- 1:55Speaker 1: player to watch and he certainly must watch when he's
- 1:59Speaker 1: in the game. So that was the always scoring to
- 2:03Speaker 1: speak of all the quarterbacks, and really everyone came out
- 2:09Speaker 1: ready to go, fully dressed. The quarterbacks came out about
- 2:13Speaker 1: fifty three minutes ahead of kicking off preseason play. Jaywhen Hurst,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Andy Dalton, we're getting some throwing in before the game.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And of course jaywen Hurst did not play in this game.
- 2:25Speaker 1: But one player who was not dressed for this game,
- 2:27Speaker 1: which is important to note here, was running back Sakwon Barkley,
- 2:31Speaker 1: who appeared to have something wrapped around his ankle. And again,
- 2:37Speaker 1: if you go back to Thursday's practice where it looked
- 2:40Speaker 1: like he tweaked something and he was being looked at.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Didn't go into the medical tent, but it is something
- 2:45Speaker 1: to note. We'll have to wait and see what happens
- 2:49Speaker 1: this week. The Eagles have joint practices coming out with
- 2:52Speaker 1: the New England Patriots also not playing in this game.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Wide receiver Johnny Wilson, who I thought for sure would
- 2:59Speaker 1: be playing, he practiced on Thursday, but prior to that
- 3:04Speaker 1: he had been sidelined for a couple of days with
- 3:06Speaker 1: a knee issue, and maybe the Eagles were just being
- 3:09Speaker 1: a little cautious there and not trying to put him
- 3:11Speaker 1: in harm's way and run the risk of re injuring
- 3:13Speaker 1: it or reaggravating it. But two players who didn't play
- 3:17Speaker 1: in this game, which I think is really interesting, safety
- 3:21Speaker 1: Marcus Epps and wide receiver Dontavian Wicks. You can also
- 3:25Speaker 1: make the argument that what more do you need to
- 3:27Speaker 1: see from Marcus EPs? You kind of know who he
- 3:29Speaker 1: is at this point of his career. But I think
- 3:32Speaker 1: it's also relevant to mention that he's really been getting
- 3:36Speaker 1: the starting nod with Nickel at safety for most of
- 3:40Speaker 1: training camp. There's a couple of days where Michael Carter
- 3:45Speaker 1: works in with the first team, but it's been mostly
- 3:47Speaker 1: Marcus Epps. So you want to talk about at least
- 3:51Speaker 1: the appearance of what appears to be job security. I
- 3:55Speaker 1: think Marcus Epps is a stock up for that. So
- 4:00Speaker 1: then Dontavian Wicks, it's not entirely surprising because he really
- 4:05Speaker 1: is the wide receiver too. I think that's been pretty
- 4:07Speaker 1: clear through training camp. But he didn't play in this game,
- 4:11Speaker 1: whereas Hollywood Brown played, Elijah Moore played, Darius Cooper certainly played.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He played well into the third quarter, which was interesting.
- 4:21Speaker 1: But let's break everything down because the Eagles captains for
- 4:26Speaker 1: this game running back Tank Bigsby, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Junior,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and defensive tackle Byron Young. The Eagles opened with Jahad
- 4:34Speaker 1: Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Junior at linebacker. I thought Trotter
- 4:37Speaker 1: Junior really performed as he has all summer long. In fact,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I think that he would be one of my top
- 4:47Speaker 1: stock up players for the summer thus far, and I'm
- 4:50Speaker 1: not really surprised. But he's such an active player. You
- 4:53Speaker 1: can see the way that he diagnoses runs and how
- 4:57Speaker 1: he navigates coverage despite not having their prototypical athleticism, just
- 5:02Speaker 1: a really sharp minded football player who I maintain would
- 5:06Speaker 1: start likely for a lot of teams out there. He
- 5:09Speaker 1: had a really strong day. The Eagles offensive line configuration
- 5:14Speaker 1: to start this game from left to right left tackle
- 5:18Speaker 1: Fred Johnson, left guard John Aujuku, center Willy Lampkin, right
- 5:22Speaker 1: guard Drew Kendall, and right tackle Markel Bell. What was
- 5:27Speaker 1: notable here is that John Ajuku was repping at left
- 5:31Speaker 1: guard for the first time this summer on Thursday, opens
- 5:34Speaker 1: this game at left guard. He's played right tackle, He's
- 5:39Speaker 1: played left tackle. He has a lot of versatility, and
- 5:44Speaker 1: I think he's doing a nice job of putting himself
- 5:47Speaker 1: in the mix for a roster spot. In fact, again,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I did my latest fifty three probably a little bit
- 5:54Speaker 1: over a week ago, and I had him on it.
- 5:56Speaker 1: For what it's worth, there's still a long ways to go,
- 5:59Speaker 1: but what I've seen from him, and it seems like
- 6:01Speaker 1: the Eagles do as well giving him the starting nod
- 6:05Speaker 1: as opposed to maybe another younger player like a Micah
- 6:08Speaker 1: Morris or a Jake Majors at guard. But John Ajuku
- 6:13Speaker 1: is a player here that I have highlighted as someone
- 6:16Speaker 1: that this game certainly helped, or at least it puts
- 6:19Speaker 1: into perspective maybe the way the team views him at
- 6:22Speaker 1: this current time. Starting Lampkin at center might be eye
- 6:28Speaker 1: opening for some, but not when you consider the importance
- 6:31Speaker 1: of giving Drew Kendall reps at guard in a game situation.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And I think it's also interesting here that on the
- 6:39Speaker 1: second series Kendall and Lampkin swapped positions. Willie Lampkin, by
- 6:44Speaker 1: the way, I thought, had a nice game. You could
- 6:46Speaker 1: see the power and the nastiness that he plays with
- 6:49Speaker 1: his hand usage, his strength at the point of attack,
- 6:52Speaker 1: the ability to anchor that I've been talking about that
- 6:56Speaker 1: really has surfaced on one on ones and things like that.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You can clearly see what the Eagles like in Willie,
- 7:03Speaker 1: and I think he's helped his case by going out
- 7:06Speaker 1: there and making the most of the time that he
- 7:08Speaker 1: was out there. I thought that actually that first group
- 7:12Speaker 1: of offensive linemen actually did a pretty solid job, all
- 7:15Speaker 1: things considered. On defense, the Eagles rolled out the linebacking
- 7:19Speaker 1: tandem of Jahad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Junior. As I said,
- 7:23Speaker 1: the secondary featured a cornerback combination of Keeley Ringo and
- 7:27Speaker 1: Jacoorian Bennett, who ended up getting hurt on the first series,
- 7:31Speaker 1: but then at safety, the Eagles paired Michael Carter the
- 7:33Speaker 1: second with Andre Sam. Andre Sam played a lot of
- 7:36Speaker 1: snaps in this game. Michael Carter played a lot of
- 7:38Speaker 1: snaps in this game, and that's that was kind of
- 7:42Speaker 1: my impression going into it. Michael Carter, you want to
- 7:45Speaker 1: see more from now. I think maybe working against him
- 7:48Speaker 1: in that battle with Marcus EPs is that he can
- 7:51Speaker 1: do a lot of different things, so you want to
- 7:53Speaker 1: keep him handy and then maybe not pin him down
- 7:56Speaker 1: to one particular role. He can play safety, he can
- 7:58Speaker 1: play nickelback, can play dime, so he's worn a lot
- 8:02Speaker 1: of different hats, and I think sometimes when you're that versatile,
- 8:05Speaker 1: it almost works against you sometimes. That's just my initial
- 8:08Speaker 1: read on it. And then Andre is just someone who,
- 8:11Speaker 1: as I've talked about before, is just so immersed in
- 8:15Speaker 1: this defense. He has an understanding of what is required.
- 8:19Speaker 1: He's often in the right place at the right time,
- 8:21Speaker 1: doesn't make a lot of mental mistakes, and has really
- 8:24Speaker 1: good play recognition. We'll see what that means. I mean,
- 8:27Speaker 1: he still seems to be a player that has an
- 8:30Speaker 1: uphill battle to make the roster relative to maybe a
- 8:33Speaker 1: younger player like a Maximus Pulley or Kapina Gushikin. But
- 8:37Speaker 1: I think quietly the interceptions haven't been there or anything
- 8:41Speaker 1: like that. But Andre seems to be someone who is
- 8:43Speaker 1: very assignment sound. We'll see what that all means. But
- 8:46Speaker 1: he played a lot of snaps. I'm curious to see
- 8:48Speaker 1: where that lands when the snaps come out. Some special
- 8:53Speaker 1: teams notes the kick returners to start, where Elijah Moore
- 8:56Speaker 1: and Ques Watkins both wide receivers. Dolkins was actually also
- 9:01Speaker 1: aligned as the right gunner on punt coverage and he
- 9:04Speaker 1: teamed with cornerback Ambry Thomas. Thomas, by the way, came
- 9:08Speaker 1: in for an injured Jacorean Bennett on the opening drive,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and undrafted free agent defensive back of Pina Gushikin also
- 9:15Speaker 1: received some early gunner reps. I also noticed safety Maximus
- 9:21Speaker 1: Pulley a lot, especially when the Eagles were in punt
- 9:25Speaker 1: coverage where they go punted quite a bit. He got
- 9:28Speaker 1: a lot of reps out there and flashed with his.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I know how I feel when I wake up in
- 9:35Speaker 2: the morning. I have so many things on my mind.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I can't get any of this done until I have
- 9:40Speaker 2: my first cup of coffee. I know a lot of
- 9:42Speaker 2: you feel the same way. You either need that coffee,
- 9:45Speaker 2: that nicotine pouch, maybe even energy drink to get yourself
- 9:49Speaker 2: through the day. We go to these great lengths to
- 9:52Speaker 2: stay healthy, whether it's going to the gym or trying
- 9:54Speaker 2: to get the right amount of sleep, eating better. Then
- 9:57Speaker 2: we'll put these chemicals in our body just to make
- 9:59Speaker 2: it through the day. But I've been using ultrapouches for

- 13:43Speaker 1: Ability to navigate traffic shed blocks and find the action
- 13:47Speaker 1: looking for work. I'm curious to monitor that over the
- 13:51Speaker 1: next couple of preseason games because that could be a
- 13:54Speaker 1: ticket to the roster. No one stepped up and seized
- 13:57Speaker 1: that number four safety spot, so it could be between
- 14:00Speaker 1: Pulley Guchigan and Andre sam I'm kind of taking rookie
- 14:04Speaker 1: Cole Wiznsky out of the mix here because he's missed
- 14:07Speaker 1: so many practices. But that's kind of my special teams
- 14:14Speaker 1: sort of round up. I had a chance to actually
- 14:16Speaker 1: talk to J. T. Gray, who I haven't had a
- 14:19Speaker 1: chance to talk to all summer really since he signed,
- 14:22Speaker 1: but I wanted to make a point to do that
- 14:23Speaker 1: because this is a three time All Pro. I wanted
- 14:26Speaker 1: to hear in his words, what makes a good gunner,
- 14:30Speaker 1: How he's taken to playing more safety this camp, if
- 14:34Speaker 1: he's if that's something that he was looking to to
- 14:36Speaker 1: really expand and showcase this summer. What does he learned
- 14:41Speaker 1: from Vic Vanjail, What is he like about this defense?
- 14:45Speaker 1: What he's done as a gunner is now teach tape
- 14:49Speaker 1: across the league, So I wanted to know who was
- 14:52Speaker 1: teach tape when he was, you know, cutting his teeth
- 14:55Speaker 1: on special teams, and he mentioned it was Matthew Slater
- 14:58Speaker 1: with the New England Patriots. So it was nice to
- 15:00Speaker 1: catch up and meet him and talk to him for
- 15:03Speaker 1: a little bit. The Ravens hit an explosive play early
- 15:08Speaker 1: with Tyler Huntley finding tight end Matthew Hibner down the
- 15:11Speaker 1: left sideline. It was a gain of twenty nine yards
- 15:14Speaker 1: aj Panessa, who earlier in camp actually admitted that he
- 15:18Speaker 1: was adapting to some of the different things he's been
- 15:20Speaker 1: asked to do in this defense. He was kind of
- 15:22Speaker 1: caught flat footed in coverage. He's never really had to
- 15:25Speaker 1: drop in a game, and that's something that you should expect.
- 15:28Speaker 1: There's gonna be a little bit of growing pains there,
- 15:30Speaker 1: even for a veteran. That drive ended up covering forty
- 15:33Speaker 1: one yards on nine plays, and then kicker Tyler loop
- 15:36Speaker 1: missed from forty nine yards out. Epanessa did though, force
- 15:40Speaker 1: an incompletion in the second quarter on a third and six,
- 15:43Speaker 1: so he acquitted himself fairly well. There was able to
- 15:47Speaker 1: rebound kind of nicely good push up front on that
- 15:52Speaker 1: drive from defensive tackles Byron Young and ty Robinson, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: ty Robinson deserves a mention here. He had a sack
- 16:00Speaker 1: Tyler Huntley. He had an active first half and I
- 16:03Speaker 1: noticed him a lot flashing behind the line of scrimmage,
- 16:06Speaker 1: using his strength at the point of attack. He had
- 16:09Speaker 1: a roughing the passer call, which was something that you
- 16:13Speaker 1: just can't have. But by and large, this is something
- 16:16Speaker 1: that and I'm not going to blow this out of proportion,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but He is someone that has come on a little
- 16:23Speaker 1: bit over the last three practices or so. I'm noticing
- 16:27Speaker 1: him more and it seems like he's starting to make
- 16:30Speaker 1: some plays and build that confidence. Second year wide receiver
- 16:35Speaker 1: Darius Cooper. He's had a tremendous training camp. It's been
- 16:39Speaker 1: one of the standout performers. He's caught almost everything thrown
- 16:43Speaker 1: in his vicinity. But on a third and five, he
- 16:45Speaker 1: had an opportunity to extend the drive and help out
- 16:48Speaker 1: an offense that was stalling, but he failed to bring
- 16:51Speaker 1: in an Andy Dalton heater. The pass looked like it
- 16:55Speaker 1: was maybe a little bit behind a back shoulder with
- 16:57Speaker 1: the type of throw, but that's all that needs to
- 17:00Speaker 1: be caught, especially when your offense is struggling, especially when
- 17:04Speaker 1: you're trying to state your case for an expanded role
- 17:07Speaker 1: on offense and build off of what you've done in
- 17:10Speaker 1: training camp. He did produce eagles initial first down in
- 17:13Speaker 1: the evening though. He caught a thirteen yard strike in
- 17:18Speaker 1: stride from Tanner McKee with eight thirty eight remaining until
- 17:22Speaker 1: the break, so there was a positive. One of the
- 17:26Speaker 1: players I was most looking forward to watching Saturday night
- 17:29Speaker 1: was second year cornerback Mac McWilliams, and for over a
- 17:33Speaker 1: week Mack has been emerging in practice. He'd been playing
- 17:37Speaker 1: a lot faster relative to last summer, and his confidence
- 17:39Speaker 1: has been a parent But in this one it became
- 17:42Speaker 1: clear early the Ravens were picking on Williams, who was
- 17:45Speaker 1: playing nickelback peppering the middle of the field. He ended
- 17:48Speaker 1: up with ten tackles, which is not a good thing
- 17:51Speaker 1: as a corner, by the way, but he was active
- 17:53Speaker 1: and he brought the receiver down. He was generally in
- 17:56Speaker 1: position to make the tackle. But you'd like to see
- 17:59Speaker 1: him make more plays on the football and be a
- 18:01Speaker 1: little bit more reactive there. I actually think he's been
- 18:03Speaker 1: better as an outside corner from what I've seen from
- 18:06Speaker 1: him in training camp. I was hoping to see him outside,
- 18:10Speaker 1: but it wasn't to be. And Eli Stowers, he had
- 18:15Speaker 1: a bad holding call in the first offensive play of
- 18:17Speaker 1: the game. It wiped away a seven yard Tank Bigsby run.
- 18:20Speaker 1: But it was kind of good to see the rookie
- 18:24Speaker 1: tight end come up with a couple of receptions on
- 18:26Speaker 1: consecutive plays to end the half. Now understand that they're
- 18:29Speaker 1: going to give up things underneath. There was not much
- 18:34Speaker 1: time left on the clock, and they knew what the
- 18:35Speaker 1: Eagles were trying to do. But I think the grand
- 18:39Speaker 1: total was six yards. He had two catches for six
- 18:42Speaker 1: yards there, but that's not really the point. The point
- 18:44Speaker 1: is is that those are things that can build confidence
- 18:48Speaker 1: and allow a young player to get into a rhythm.
- 18:50Speaker 1: He had a nice short completion over the middle later
- 18:53Speaker 1: it was a six yarder following a stick from Ravens
- 18:57Speaker 1: defensive back TJ. Tampa. You could see the shortcomings and
- 19:02Speaker 1: his blocking surface in the times that he had to
- 19:05Speaker 1: do it, but again, don't sound the alarms. This is
- 19:09Speaker 1: normal for young players to go through some of these
- 19:11Speaker 1: growing pains. I would expect him to progress a little
- 19:16Speaker 1: bit more each week, and maybe by the third preseason
- 19:19Speaker 1: game you're seeing someone who's making more plays on the
- 19:22Speaker 1: offensive side. While there weren't many offensive standouts in this game,
- 19:27Speaker 1: I did think running back Will Shipley delivered with some
- 19:30Speaker 1: tough inside running and at one point he averaged five
- 19:33Speaker 1: yards per carry. He had five for twenty five, then
- 19:36Speaker 1: he lost three yards. But the numbers look watered down
- 19:40Speaker 1: now because he finished with twenty two yards on seven carries.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But he did show some juice in his limited usage.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Undrafted linebacker Deontay Lawson is a player who's on my radar.
- 19:54Speaker 1: He's seen an uptick in snaps of late and practice
- 19:58Speaker 1: as fellow linebacker Chance Campbell, who Vic Vangio said don't
- 20:01Speaker 1: sleep on Chance now has been navigating that groin injury.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Chance Campbell did not play in this game. Lawson's extensive
- 20:09Speaker 1: starting experience at Alabama it does show up in his
- 20:12Speaker 1: play recognition and pursuit to the football. His athleticism and
- 20:17Speaker 1: sideline to sideline range also has translated from the practice fields,
- 20:22Speaker 1: and I'm not sure if there's room for him on
- 20:24Speaker 1: the roster for the Eagles to carry five linebackers, especially
- 20:27Speaker 1: if it's not Chance Campbell, who the Eagles seem to like.
- 20:30Speaker 1: But Lawson will be a player worth monitoring in the
- 20:32Speaker 1: coming weeks. He's quietly coming on a bit of the
- 20:38Speaker 1: down the roster wide receivers in training camp. A case
- 20:42Speaker 1: could be made that the veteran quees Watkins has been
- 20:46Speaker 1: the best of the bunch, But for my money, it
- 20:49Speaker 1: would be Eric Azukanma, who has flashed on occasion. He
- 20:53Speaker 1: caught the touchdown from Peyton. He returned three kickoffs for
- 20:56Speaker 1: seventy seven yards. He's shown good speed and control. I mean,
- 21:02Speaker 1: he's not going to make the roster, but he has
- 21:05Speaker 1: done a lot to help himself. Maybe perhaps for a
- 21:08Speaker 1: practice squad spot, but not a lot to write home
- 21:12Speaker 1: about from an offensive perspective. But I also should mention
- 21:17Speaker 1: that there was a really nice moment that, Hey.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Philly fans.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Game day is stressful enough.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Parking, traffic, long lines, We've all been there, But when
- 21:28Speaker 2: it comes to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy.
- 21:33Speaker 2: This is the dispensary for sports fans, just minutes outside

- 21:40Speaker 2: and out fast, no hassle, no waiting, and they don't
- 21:43Speaker 2: just care about convenience. Camden Apothecary is all about the

- 22:05Speaker 2: stuff without overpaying. They even show love to the community
- 22:09Speaker 2: with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare pros,
- 22:14Speaker 2: cammed inn Apothecary, top quality cannabis, great prices, and an
- 22:18Speaker 2: experience made for Philly fans. Twenty one and up.
- 22:22Speaker 1: A pair of rookies playing in their first ever football game.
- 22:27Speaker 1: In the third quarter, Kenya native Josh Wairu took the
- 22:31Speaker 1: field for his first NFL snap. On the ensuing play,
- 22:34Speaker 1: Seventh round pick u Or Bernard, a native of Nigeria,
- 22:37Speaker 1: came on for a few reps. Coordinator Vic Vanger earlier
- 22:41Speaker 1: in camp said both are light years away from being
- 22:43Speaker 1: able to provide meaningful snaps in a game, but those
- 22:46Speaker 1: were moments hopefully everyone can appreciate. They just started playing
- 22:50Speaker 1: foot professional football. That was their first ever football game,
- 22:55Speaker 1: and we talked about rookie minicam the Ota. That was
- 23:00Speaker 1: where they were getting their introduction. They're still going through
- 23:03Speaker 1: their introduction right now. It's all a crash course, So
- 23:07Speaker 1: for them to be in a game just weeks later,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I think is remarkable, to be honest with you, and
- 23:17Speaker 1: wayrou By the Way delivered a pair of quality rushes
- 23:21Speaker 1: on the drive he posted a quarterback hit. Who Or
- 23:25Speaker 1: Bernard's journey has been the more popular storyline by a
- 23:29Speaker 1: wide margin, but Wayrou is further ahead. He's put together
- 23:33Speaker 1: some encouraging moments in practice and now he's done it
- 23:36Speaker 1: in an NFL game. So I had a chance to
- 23:40Speaker 1: speak to Josh Wayrou after the game and I asked him,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I said, first NFL game, what we were impressions, and he
- 23:46Speaker 1: said he was really happy that his teammates got to
- 23:49Speaker 1: go out there first and set the standard. He noted
- 23:52Speaker 1: that aj Epanessa on the first or second defensive play
- 23:56Speaker 1: of the game set the edge and he said to himself, yeah,
- 23:59Speaker 1: this game is on and he said there's some ups
- 24:02Speaker 1: and some downs, but he is someone that looks at
- 24:07Speaker 1: the wins that he does get as a positive and
- 24:10Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily harp too much on the negative. Again, it's
- 24:14Speaker 1: a growing process with both players. They've never played football before.
- 24:19Speaker 1: But Wayrou demonstrated signs of promise earlier than I expected.
- 24:25Speaker 1: And that's not just in this game. There's been moments
- 24:28Speaker 1: in training camp where you can kind of see things
- 24:30Speaker 1: coming together, and I think that that's important to note. Now,
- 24:34Speaker 1: just some stats here for those wondering. Cole Payton led
- 24:39Speaker 1: the Eagles in rushing with three carries for forty five yards.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I mentioned Will Shipley Tank Bigsboy got a couple carries
- 24:45Speaker 1: in this one. Receiving wise, Darius Cooper led the Eagles
- 24:50Speaker 1: with two catches for twenty one yards. E J. Jenkins
- 24:53Speaker 1: had two for twenty. Eli Stowers had three for twelve,
- 24:57Speaker 1: Britain Covey had two for ten and apart from that,
- 25:01Speaker 1: I mean Hollywood Brown had won for four. But on defense,
- 25:06Speaker 1: Mac McWilliams combined for ten tackles. Maximus Pulley four tackles
- 25:13Speaker 1: or really five tackles. Sean Wade made a really nice
- 25:17Speaker 1: play where it was a hustle play. He wasn't really
- 25:21Speaker 1: in the frame in the picture. He forces a fumble
- 25:25Speaker 1: and Ambry Thomas picks it up. Heads up play by
- 25:28Speaker 1: both players. There, Andre Sam four tackles. Jeremiah Trotter Junior
- 25:35Speaker 1: had a sack in this one. Ty Robinson had a sack.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Toron Jackson had a sack in this game. Toron Jackson
- 25:46Speaker 1: re signed with the Eagles just days ago and this
- 25:50Speaker 1: is now his third stint with the Eagles. It was
- 25:53Speaker 1: kind of cool to see him out there producing getting
- 25:55Speaker 1: a sack again. He's not someone that gets a ton
- 25:58Speaker 1: of reps and practice and he probably will in the preseason.
- 26:02Speaker 1: But he's doing his part and trying to put the
- 26:06Speaker 1: best version of himself on film to hopefully appeal to
- 26:09Speaker 1: another team or maybe convinced the Eagles to try and
- 26:12Speaker 1: find a spotform on the practice squad. Kieley Ringo had
- 26:15Speaker 1: an interception in this game. He had a defensive pass
- 26:18Speaker 1: interference penalty on the play before that, but it was
- 26:23Speaker 1: probably a bad throw by the Ravens quarterback, but Kiley
- 26:26Speaker 1: was there to pick the pass off in the back
- 26:28Speaker 1: of the end zone. That's kind of what Kielee Ringo
- 26:31Speaker 1: is all about. You see plays that offer signs, you know,
- 26:35Speaker 1: of intrigue, and then a lot of head scratching and
- 26:39Speaker 1: maddening plays and they they're more frequent than the highlights.
- 26:43Speaker 1: But he's clearly a player that has a high variance
- 26:46Speaker 1: type of player, and it's hard to imagine that he's
- 26:49Speaker 1: going to be able to be someone who the Eagles
- 26:52Speaker 1: can rely on to step in and play corner if
- 26:54Speaker 1: they ever need him to, if injuries arise. But that's
- 26:59Speaker 1: kind of where we're at right now. Those are just
- 27:02Speaker 1: some of the highlights. I thought that guys like Gabe
- 27:07Speaker 1: Hall they had to step in. He did a nice job,
- 27:12Speaker 1: but it was kind of a tough day for some
- 27:14Speaker 1: of the defensive backs, Michael Carter largely, and I would
- 27:19Speaker 1: also say that Mac McWilliams probably didn't have the greatest
- 27:22Speaker 1: of days. Keeley Ringo had the DPI. There were opportunities
- 27:27Speaker 1: to make plays in the football and I didn't think
- 27:29Speaker 1: the Eagles in this particular game did a great job
- 27:33Speaker 1: at doing that. But the good news is is they're
- 27:36Speaker 1: back on the practice field on Monday, and they have
- 27:40Speaker 1: two big days at Jillette Stadium for joint practices, and
- 27:44Speaker 1: then they played the Patriots a couple of days after that.
- 27:47Speaker 1: But we'll see where everything goes from here. But for now,
- 27:52Speaker 1: that's the latest from me and my recap of the
- 27:54Speaker 1: eagles twenty four to seven loss at M and T
- 27:58Speaker 1: Banks Stadium. Dropped to ohen one in the preseason, and
- 28:02Speaker 1: this is just the start of what's gonna be a
- 28:04Speaker 1: very active rest of the month. That's gonna do it.
- 28:07Speaker 1: For this edition of to Checho Daily, I'm Andrew de Checo,
- 28:11Speaker 1: and I'll catch you all on the next one.
