Transcript
- 0:00Hello there, it's time for most things Kenobi.
- 0:05I prefer all things Kenobi, but I suppose that's not the Jedi,
- 0:08way long as it's not all things Anakin.
- 0:24Hi everyone, welcome to another episode of most things Kenobi.
- 0:27A podcast about Obi-Wan Kenobi and all things Star Wars.
- 0:30I'm your host Leanne and I'm your host law red, and this week
- 0:34is a two parts. The first part of a two part
- 0:38Series where we kind of loosely call, it get to know your host
- 0:42and this week you're going to get to know Lauren because I'm
- 0:45interviewing Lauren for all of you.
- 0:48Now I have created a list of questions that she has not seen.
- 0:53Scene. She doesn't know anything about
- 0:57she has no prep time. No idea.
- 1:01So it's going to be fun. I don't know what to expect.
- 1:04Yeah. And she's gonna do that for me
- 1:06and then it'll be my turn to not know what to expect and answer
- 1:10all the questions so It's kind of funny because it could
- 1:13literally be anything a day like we didn't put any parameters on
- 1:17this. You could ask me about celery
- 1:19for all I care because, you know, I have feelings about yes,
- 1:24we already know your your sordid past with celery, so we'll keep
- 1:28it out of this one. I was gonna text you.
- 1:34Right? Before we started recording that
- 1:36I was eating a really delicious cheese that I Thought you might
- 1:42like you don't want any various. Yeah I do have a food.
- 1:48It could be a food related question.
- 1:50Oh we'll see it's not it could be though.
- 1:54Okay I'm gonna give you I'm gonna I'm gonna lay it out for
- 1:58you but oh I love me some cheese.
- 2:01It's a delicious cheese. That's been soaked in a Syrah.
- 2:06Whoa Trader. Joe's.
- 2:08Shut up. Oh they have the best hmm
- 2:11they're green guy. This cheese is really good.
- 2:14Oh, I've never had that. See, we could just talk about
- 2:17only cheese whole thing about cheese.
- 2:24Oh god. Well that's all you really need
- 2:26to know about us. We both love cheese and we'll
- 2:28talk about it, Ad nauseam. Thanks for stopping by everyone
- 2:33have a great week. Thank you, take care.
- 2:36No, I'm gonna start pretty tame. Okay?
- 2:40Because I mean, we're both Star Wars Fans and I'm sure everyone
- 2:44out there. Has heard our, how did we meet?
- 2:46How did we get into Star Wars? But my first question is, and
- 2:49I'm not sure you've answered this or at least not in a
- 2:52condensed form. Is we know how you Got Started
- 2:55Loving Star Wars and in getting into the fandom, you know the
- 2:58whole realm of you of Star Wars. Yeah.
- 3:01But tell us how you got started writing and then eventually
- 3:04writing fanfics because you write some of the best out there
- 3:07and I think I'm not the only one that would say that.
- 3:09Oh well, that's nice. Thanks.
- 3:12You mean to some just writing in general how I, well, I know you
- 3:15write in general maybe even working on stuff in the
- 3:18background for years. But when did you get started
- 3:20writing at all? And then when what started, what
- 3:24spawned you into writing fanfic? So I don't know.
- 3:28I was just like born writing. There you go.
- 3:33She came out with a pen. I did a little notepad and
- 3:38started a story. The minute I stepped on the
- 3:40planet. Honestly, I've been writing
- 3:43stories as far back as I can remember, like, some of my
- 3:46earliest memories were coming up with stories.
- 3:50Like this is a tell you the kind of child I am in our elementary
- 3:55school. We had Had.
- 3:57I can't remember what it was called.
- 3:59Oh, young authors. It was like a writing
- 4:01competition every year and I fucking hated it was awful
- 4:06because you'd have to write the story and draw the pictures to
- 4:08go with it and then they would get and what one year mine did
- 4:13place and I ended up going to like the regional because I
- 4:17wrote I wrote it at not a documentary.
- 4:19I wrote an autobiography but Martin Luther King jr.
- 4:23Nice piece which I was like, six, what could I possibly have
- 4:29said? But like what the first, I'm not
- 4:32sure. Kindergarten my story was about
- 4:36the Gulf War. Holy shit.
- 4:40Lord. See, I didn't know any of this.
- 4:43Yeah, I know, it's ridiculous. But yes, I, I started writing
- 4:50seriously, though. I had a dream in college and
- 4:56wait, wait, wait. Isn't that a Martin Luther King
- 4:59quote? Yes, I had a dream but not in
- 5:04college, right? But that went so perfectly
- 5:07together. Anyway, I am not channeling.
- 5:11Martin Luther King jr. I love him, but he stands on his
- 5:15own. Does I just had a dream in
- 5:19college. It was super real.
- 5:21Like, it felt real, actually. All of my novels that I'm
- 5:23working on started as dreams weirdly enough like, almost all
- 5:26of them which is really strange. It was just, it was like a
- 5:32Transmission from the universe and I just had to start writing
- 5:35it. And I've been working at it ever
- 5:37since and it has evolved and college was 2007?
- 5:44Oh, yeah. Mine was oh, when you graduated.
- 5:48Yeah. Okay.
- 5:50I was 2006. I was going to say, you didn't
- 5:51start in 2007. No way.
- 5:53Okay, yeah, no, I graduated in 2007.
- 5:57So it was a long time ago and I've been writing it ever since,
- 5:59but I will finish it someday. I have a bunch of other novels
- 6:04that I'm working on two, but so fanfiction was though, I
- 6:08actually started writing a Luke FanFiction right after college
- 6:13will never be shared with anyone ever.
- 6:18We all have those. Yeah, I mean, it's it's
- 6:21gruesome, but it was. I still read it, sometimes it's
- 6:27in a notebook, like, it's handwritten than it was.
- 6:33Yeah, it's all about post Return of the Jedi and I just there was
- 6:39no Star Wars content. So I created my own.
- 6:42Yep, that time there was nothing else coming out in 2008, make
- 6:47sense, maybe Revenge of the Sith.
- 6:49I don't remember. I think that came out before
- 6:51that though, like way before that.
- 6:53So, yeah, and now just Obi-Wan stuff because Clone Wars blame
- 6:58it all on Clone Wars, blame it on the Clone Wars.
- 7:03I hear you there though. Yeah there's a lot of unresolved
- 7:06tension but not in the fanfic know.
- 7:13We've resolved all tensions. Yeah.
- 7:16That's the point of fanfic, right?
- 7:18Right. Yes.
- 7:20All right. So this was kind of the food.
- 7:22It could be food related but it does not need to be.
- 7:26How is it? It's like are you pregnant or
- 7:28not? You either.
- 7:29Are you are honest. If voters that not Hear me out.
- 7:33Okay? What is one of your guilty
- 7:35pleasures that you're willing to admit?
- 7:37Now, that could be a music like a band, or a mmm, an artist that
- 7:43you're just as guilty, pleasure or it's, or is a cheat meal or a
- 7:47food or, you know, just a guilty pleasure really bad movie.
- 7:51You like, you know, something like that.
- 7:53That's what I wanted to ask. I actually wrote the same
- 7:56question for you, really? Oh, I have my answer.
- 7:59I already know my answer because I'm like, yeah.
- 8:02Um, oh my God, I have too many. I do night in myself, nothing,
- 8:10whatever you're willing to admit here today, please share well,
- 8:15one guilty, pleasure is that I actually really like Dirty
- 8:18Dancing event at night. Well, I mean it's right on par
- 8:23with our shirtless Cassie and that we've gotten so Diego.
- 8:27Luna, we it can't get enough. It's terrible.
- 8:30But he is adorable and it's Like one of those movies where, you
- 8:33know, exactly what you're going to get, and it doesn't doesn't
- 8:37rip your heart out completely and it came out when I was
- 8:41young. And yeah, that's definitely one.
- 8:45Like food-wise though, I have an anything that's like a British
- 8:49scone. I can't say no to it.
- 8:51So there you go. I shouldn't eat them because
- 8:54they kind of make me sick, but I love them too much pleasure.
- 8:58Yeah, exactly. And I pay for it.
- 9:01Hey, good, it's good. Good right Havana Nights and a
- 9:04scone. That's a nice night in makes no
- 9:07sense together, unless you're no.
- 9:14If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, no price, no
- 9:19qualms, nothing, nothing's holding you back, there's no
- 9:22work. Nothing where would you go?
- 9:23Tomorrow? This is the this is hard
- 9:29Iceland. I can't believe you'd go back to
- 9:32Iceland. Yeah, there are things.
- 9:34I want to see that are the UK because I kind of like really
- 9:39have always wanted to do like a Like a super nerd tour of the UK
- 9:46where I go and see, like, like Robin Hood and King Arthur
- 9:51locations. I could see you doing that.
- 9:55You'd be so into it. I want to go to tintagel and I
- 9:59yeah my and Scotland like so I'm torn between the two islands.
- 10:04You know? Yes the UK are Iceland.
- 10:06Yeah definitely I love the light there.
- 10:09Yeah it's it's more North so it looks like Like Autumn all the
- 10:14time when you're taking. I know what you mean by.
- 10:16Yeah. When I lived in Alaska, that was
- 10:19that was something. Yeah, was very noticeable and I
- 10:21loved it. You don't think it will be but
- 10:23it is just a little bit more latitude North and it's quite
- 10:27different. It's pretty If you and Obi-Wan
- 10:31went on a date, where would you want to go and what would you
- 10:36do? Not first date, just any date.
- 10:41Any date. Like if you only had one chance,
- 10:46this was your chance. Can I pick your fanfic as my
- 10:49date? Oh, which one?
- 10:51You know, which oh, the resort one?
- 10:53Yeah, the trash pile. I love it though.
- 10:57It's not odd location. Know, I'm all about the snow.
- 11:02My first thought was like a museum, but I think he'd be too
- 11:05pedantic and like explaining everything the whole time.
- 11:12Well, you could start at the Museum.
- 11:14Yeah. Let him be Obi-Wan there and
- 11:16then take him somewhere where he opens up a little more.
- 11:21Honestly I think it like a walk in a garden or like nature to
- 11:27get him away from. Like Place him back in a natural
- 11:33environment so that would be nice somewhere where like no
- 11:37one's watching. So you can just like let your
- 11:38guard down and have fun and laugh and relax.
- 11:42Yes. Yeah instead of animes IAM
- 11:45nature like a walk in a park or what do you hold your hand.
- 11:51Oh, I want to do the thing with. My hand is under his arm.
- 11:54Oh well that's very nice. Yes it's very gentlemanly.
- 11:58Yes. Let me find a lovely tree sit
- 12:04under that sounds nice. And then when the Sun goes down,
- 12:09you sneak into like a speakeasy and have cocktails in the back.
- 12:13Oh, that sounds great. He would be yes, he would go for
- 12:17a speakeasy like a true one. Yeah.
- 12:19An imposter Speakeasy. But like, a real legit where you
- 12:22can kind of go disappear and nobody looks at you, too
- 12:25closely, you can just be a Jedi of the background.
- 12:28No notice it. And it is not Like 2000 levels
- 12:31down and Coruscant. You're just going to a nice
- 12:33speakeasies. You're not going to the CD
- 12:37bottom of some no City. Planet of the, a dive bar is fun
- 12:42sometimes but you can't go dressed in there like a Jedi.
- 12:46No. No, he shouldn't be dressed at
- 12:49all. Wait, is this?
- 12:51My date are yours? Sorry, I was just gonna say as
- 12:58long as we don't go to that bar where a snake as the bartender.
- 13:01You said, I ya know, there's fuck I'm not interested in that.
- 13:04So I would I would walk in. See it turn right around and
- 13:07leave just know it's not happening.
- 13:10Yeah, yeah. Either that or just like yeah, I
- 13:14don't know. Yeah, that sounds good.
- 13:16Sounds real good. That's yeah, that's a good one.
- 13:21I'm gonna be bouncing around, if so that's great, Little Star
- 13:24Wars here, little normal stuff. Little more Star Wars.
- 13:26Keep me on my toes. Well, but then, we have the
- 13:30rapid-fire guest questions. We ask when we interview guests.
- 13:33Yeah. And we're going to answer each
- 13:35other at the end. I love that.
- 13:37I think that's gonna be fun. If you could go back and do it
- 13:41all again, what career would you choose and why?
- 13:45Oh my Lord. Well look Heinz.
- 13:50No. Yeah seriously.
- 13:54I was this is embarrassing. I was going to be an actor.
- 14:01Why is that embarrassing? Because everybody says that
- 14:04nobody makes it, you know, like it's that's what I wanted to do.
- 14:10That was like all I cared about in high school.
- 14:12I was even our president of art this being Society, like I only
- 14:16lived for acting. Ting Mi knew you were a thespian
- 14:19but I didn't know that that was like something you really wanted
- 14:22to do? Yeah, I like studied it in high
- 14:25school, which is stupid because you're a child and What Child is
- 14:29serious in high school, but I was like, super serious.
- 14:31I even tried to start my own Theater Company.
- 14:33Wow, which makes sense knowing me.
- 14:36I'm such an idea person, but definitely didn't do anything.
- 14:41It was shitty. I even directed.
- 14:44I didn't direct some plays in high school to which was fun.
- 14:49But yeah, I didn't have my teacher who was going to help me
- 14:53with auditions got pregnant and she left and the other acting
- 14:57teacher was an alcoholic. God, this is wow.
- 15:02Yeah, she didn't give any fucks at all and I did go on an
- 15:04audition but I didn't do the right kind of thing.
- 15:07Like I think I've picked like a monologue from a Neil Simon
- 15:11play. Which I love Neil Simon.
- 15:13It's great. But like now as an adult, I
- 15:16would pick a man's man. Dialogue that's always done by a
- 15:19guy and I would do it but yes that would be so good.
- 15:23Oh my God. You should just do that sometime
- 15:26for me anyway because I want to see it.
- 15:28You'd be--you'd nail it. Oh my God, like I have the to be
- 15:31or not to be speech memorized at all times because I had to do it
- 15:34for something in high school. But what's funny is that we had
- 15:38to memorize like a soliloquy or some kind of you know, brief
- 15:42speech in high school in my Advanced literature class and I
- 15:46chose one from Omelette. Oh, did you?
- 15:49Yes. That's awesome.
- 15:51What did you pick? I can't remember.
- 15:53I used to remember it and I can't remember now, but I love
- 15:56Hamlet. So it's not surprising that you
- 15:58and I have that. Yeah, right.
- 16:00I'm not surprised at all, right. It is, it's so good.
- 16:03It's my favorite play. That's especially Shakespeare.
- 16:07I have other plays that. I love that aren't
- 16:08Shakespearean. Bit like Hamlet is so difficult
- 16:12to perform well, because no one's quite sure how to
- 16:15interpret it. Right?
- 16:18It's you love really mad or is he acting mad or, you know?
- 16:21Yeah, right it's good. Yeah though.
- 16:25Go back and be an actress. Yes.
- 16:26Yeah, I would love to do that. What kind of had this is?
- 16:30I didn't have this written down, but what kind of films would you
- 16:32gravitate towards God? I don't know.
- 16:35I always always got cast as the mom, which I fucking hated,
- 16:39because I'm a mom. Yeah, because I was so mature
- 16:43for my age. I was always cast as the mother.
- 16:46I would love to play villains who I think they're.
- 16:51That was a great evil laugh there.
- 16:54Yeah. I would love to see this.
- 17:00I actually would love to see this.
- 17:02My sister got to play Madame thénardier and Les Miz and she
- 17:06was just such a bitch and I loved it.
- 17:09I'm so jealous saying, you know my friend Derek has always said
- 17:14he loves the villains because the more interesting the more
- 17:16fun they have better costumes they they have better theme
- 17:19music like honestly like sometimes there are more
- 17:23captivating than The hero like is it Greater terrible movie,
- 17:28great example in the Patriot, I don't know if you've ever seen
- 17:31that with Mel Gibson movie makes me that movie makes me laugh out
- 17:35loud and it shouldn't like, it's not funny but I laugh out loud,
- 17:38but Jason Isaacs plays, the bad guy and he is brilliant.
- 17:44And I love him in it and then he played Lucius, Malfoy, and
- 17:47Captain Hook and it just all makes sense because he had none
- 17:50of that. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:53I think it'd be more. More fun to play the villain.
- 17:56I do not disagree. Maybe someday, so complete
- 18:02opposite of villain. Mmm, let's talk about a hero,
- 18:06our hero. Our favorite hero.
- 18:08My question is with regards to Luke Skywalker.
- 18:12Would you be a member of Luke's Jedi school?
- 18:14If you could? Yes, but I would be very
- 18:17distracted student. I get it.
- 18:23Oh my God. That would be so like madly in
- 18:27love with him, that I wouldn't pay attention.
- 18:32I get killed right away, she's looking at the way.
- 18:38His hair is falling. Whisper whisper, whisper piece
- 18:41of hair and she's looking at the mirror nailed by some other
- 18:45students Blaster. Like exactly.
- 18:48Just stabbed through the heart, looking at Luke's Chanel boots.
- 18:54Yeah, you know, you could also work at the school and suggest
- 19:00other clothes for him. And you could be like an
- 19:02advisor. That would be fun.
- 19:05You don't necessarily have to be a student.
- 19:06I didn't say student, would you be a member of the school?
- 19:09Meaning, you could add money to not wear Chanel base or nothing
- 19:14at all or and I think. Wow.
- 19:16That's a you suggested that already.
- 19:20Why did? But I didn't damn it.
- 19:24My camel was fit as fuck. In those movies, really wasn't
- 19:27though. He really can't tell because he
- 19:29never shows it up. Well, yes, he does.
- 19:31And Strikes back. But yeah, he was super fit.
- 19:35He was doing like they had him doing.
- 19:39He was doing like all different kinds of sword, fighting weight,
- 19:42lifting, and karate or something for those movies.
- 19:47But will you and I talked about starting our own Jedi training,
- 19:51man. It's like facility.
- 19:54Like it just kind of like a mix of fencing and swordplay but
- 19:58like, you know, not gonna kill each other with it.
- 20:01But with lightsabers are like fake lightsabers.
- 20:04Yes, because it a nerd Dojo it's so yes, that was the idea dojo.
- 20:10And if I have this dream, that there'd be a corner at the
- 20:13front, like that's full of comic books.
- 20:19Yes. Like a little reading spot to
- 20:21prepare or kill time before it's your session or exactly, you
- 20:26could just hang out there. I kind of love that maybe
- 20:30someday we had ever something, I'm not losing, I'm not losing
- 20:33hope to that. I've you know, I'm more just a
- 20:35more concerned about like getting sued by Lucas.
- 20:38Well sure. But nerd Dojo doesn't
- 20:41necessarily exactly pull the attention of anyone at Disney.
- 20:46So I think we're fine. Yes.
- 20:50So favorite fandom other than Star Wars.
- 20:55If you had to pick one. Hmm.
- 20:58Well probably Batman. Yeah, I knew that.
- 21:04Yeah. And like the timing is so sad
- 21:06because Kevin Conroy doing died, literally brought me to tears
- 21:10because he's so ingrained you know?
- 21:13Like he's yes, he's the Batman. I grew up with.
- 21:17So even though Tim Burton stuff came out, first like my parents
- 21:21didn't let us watch that. And I did see the Saturday
- 21:24morning. Humans, when my mom wasn't home,
- 21:28we're not supposed to watch. Cartoons is kids.
- 21:30It's a, she would have she would like, pick me up from school
- 21:33first. And while she was going to get
- 21:34my other sister at a different school, I would watch Batman for
- 21:38like 5 minutes while she was out of the house and it was the
- 21:40greatest thing ever. Yeah, I still love Batman.
- 21:45The Animated Series and I particularly love like Dick,
- 21:49Grayson and Nightwing because oh yeah, when I, I know you do.
- 21:53Yeah, I know you, you know, well, like Robin always seemed
- 21:59like such a doofus. It looks like the old 60s gee
- 22:05willikers Batman, but they've really redone his character.
- 22:08He's way more interesting. He's a much darker past now and
- 22:12he has the same. Judy is Batman, but he turns out
- 22:17Not so destroyed by it in some versions, some version he is but
- 22:22yeah, I like that stuff a lot. It's it and I like it because
- 22:26they're not superheroes their people.
- 22:29With Nate Twisted backstories. Yeah.
- 22:32Yes, yes. Yeah.
- 22:34My favorite superheroes have Twisted backstories.
- 22:38Yeah, we were drawn to that for some reason, I guess for some
- 22:42reason. If you could live in any past
- 22:45time period or era, what one would it be my favorite?
- 22:49The same question for really good because I love this
- 22:53question. That's so great.
- 22:55Um, could I get to answer it to live in the time period?
- 22:59Like I actually lived during this time period you have to
- 23:02live through it safely but after bad.
- 23:04Yes no I mean you can just focus on now I like running water.
- 23:12Oh okay. Stakeout.
- 23:14Okay, let's take out the bad and take me to a glitzy.
- 23:18Part of the past that has nothing.
- 23:20Nothing wrong with it. There's no such thing.
- 23:23But this is a fantasy question and answer.
- 23:26So yeah. Like Narnia, but it does, it's
- 23:30not real I guess. But I'm soon.
- 23:33This is so fucked up. No one wants to live during this
- 23:37time but I'm super fascinated by the Dark Ages, that's fine.
- 23:41That's what I'm talking about. If you could go back, Like
- 23:44investigative or to put on a costume or whatever like their
- 23:48daily wear, which would be a costume for us because we're not
- 23:51we're not actually living in it. You were safely.
- 23:54Revisiting a piece of the past will label it as this like very
- 23:59specifically. I really like British history, a
- 24:03lot. So the time period from when
- 24:05Rome left Britain before the Normans invaded, I find that's
- 24:10the Dark Ages. Pretty much in the UK.
- 24:12I love that time period. Because it was just crazy.
- 24:16Like, all these different, like, Vikings invaded and the angles,
- 24:19invaded. Yes, there's still indigenous
- 24:23British Heritage to this day even though they've been invaded
- 24:27over and over and over, it's a really fascinating thing and
- 24:30like that time period was like a mixture of pagan and Christian
- 24:35and like women had power and were losing power.
- 24:38So it's just a really fascinating Dynamic time period
- 24:41that For a while, as like a writer, you have some latitude
- 24:46there to kind of like baked things that seem a little bit
- 24:49more fantasy. But I'm also really really
- 24:53fascinated in late 18 early 1900's Chicago.
- 24:58Yeah, I would like to go there for a day and like wear the
- 25:01clothes I didn't but I will. Ya.
- 25:03That's very helpful typhus or dysentery now we're not talking
- 25:10about like that was my great-grandmother move.
- 25:13To Chicago from Rantoul Illinois which is like out in the farm
- 25:18country and there's we have all these pictures of her wearing
- 25:21like the big hats, like the Gibson Girl clothes, and she was
- 25:26a daughter of the Revolution and like wrote her, congresswoman
- 25:29has that would just like to go and see what her life was like.
- 25:33They had amazing clothes really did at there's this the hair
- 25:37that hair is my hair like it's my hair, when it's long has to
- 25:41be piled, on the top of my head just like Like a Gibson girl.
- 25:44But there's this great photo of her sitting on her front porch.
- 25:48My great-grandfather. It's so hot out that they have
- 25:51their shoes and socks off and my great-great-grandfather's to
- 25:54hold up a cloth to cover their ankles because it wasn't
- 25:58appropriate to have a photograph of their ankle showing.
- 26:01Oh God. Yeah.
- 26:02I forgot those things. Yes, those real elbows.
- 26:05No ankle sprain. Just sexy.
- 26:09How strange, and how far we've come?
- 26:12Now, I basically see girls. A-holes, literally on the train
- 26:17stopped. Yeah.
- 26:19It's like if those people could see Tick-Tock right now, like
- 26:22what they think, my God, they basically assume we're all going
- 26:26to hell. We're all terrible Stevens.
- 26:31Yeah, like I wouldn't want to, maybe we are.
- 26:33I guess we're. Yeah, I wouldn't want to live
- 26:36during that time period because the constrictions would drive me
- 26:38insane. But I yeah, I do find it.
- 26:41The lack of Rights would be as strong a struggles.
- 26:44This is fun and I don't know if I know the answer to this.
- 26:48What is your favorite book or not or novel?
- 26:51Oh I have. I have to I've read Of Mice and
- 26:57Men in eighth grade and it changed me forever.
- 27:02Really see I didn't know that it was the first book we ever read.
- 27:06The didn't have a happy ending right and ahead swears he's had
- 27:11sweetheart did and I was in 8th grade.
- 27:13I was like I can't believe a reading this book full of the
- 27:15word bastard and son of a bitch. Yeah yeah yeah.
- 27:20It was a big time. It was the big tank graduated
- 27:23into adult literature but I didn't think I liked reading
- 27:27until I read that and I was like, oh, books could be really
- 27:29good. Nice.
- 27:32And then the movie that went with it, the Gary Sinise made is
- 27:35perfection, highly recommend. It is one of the most true and
- 27:38up tations. I've seen about book to a film
- 27:41and then my other one is the handmaid's tale.
- 27:45Is that right? Really?
- 27:48My brain is like is that the title even though I've read it
- 27:52at the time? Now, I'm second-guessing myself.
- 27:55Yeah, the Margaret Atwood basically, almost anything
- 27:58Margaret, Atwood rights. I can't put down, it's so good.
- 28:02Good. But that book is is fucking
- 28:05brilliant. It's so good.
- 28:06And honorable mention delicate. Edible Birds is a collection of
- 28:10short stories by Lauren Groff. She is also a brilliant writer.
- 28:13She's a contemporary writer and the way she writes about women,
- 28:18internal struggle, women's rage, things like that.
- 28:21It's subtle and sometimes not so subtle.
- 28:24It is brilliant. I love her writing her and
- 28:26Margaret. Atwood are my Queens.
- 28:30Why? I don't know anything about
- 28:31those stories. So I need to that series.
- 28:34What was it called? Delicate edible Birds.
- 28:38Okay, I need to research that sounds up.
- 28:40My alley. One of them is based off a
- 28:43longer novel, which I didn't actually like, but I was just
- 28:47talking to somebody about this. Maybe it was you even with tales
- 28:49of the Jedi, how people who write long form, sometimes
- 28:53aren't good at short form. Lauren graph is one of those
- 28:56writers who is fucking excellent either as a Super long novel or
- 29:01a tiny short story. She is just like a cold blade
- 29:05cut and write to it like it's amazing.
- 29:07Wow, yeah. I need to look this up.
- 29:10I'm going to read, I mean, yeah, the short stories is worth it.
- 29:13It's a little bit. Some of it's a little upsetting,
- 29:15but being a woman is upsetting sometimes.
- 29:17So guess it is. It is actually so okay, one more
- 29:24easy, one. And then we'll get to the rapid
- 29:26fire because we have approached the 30-minute mark.
- 29:30This is pretty easy. Favorite season and why know you
- 29:35probably know this I do but maybe some others don't.
- 29:40I am an Autumn girl and winter. I do like winter to but when the
- 29:45fall rolls around and the weather gets cold, I come alive,
- 29:49like I feel like a different human being same, it's the
- 29:54colors but it's also the temperature.
- 29:56I thrive in colder temperatures, I do not do well in Heat and the
- 30:00lack of humidity. Even if it rains, it's still not
- 30:04that humid, because it's so black of bugs.
- 30:07Yes, I don't like bugs and snakes.
- 30:11Yes, I saw a video Once of a white python.
- 30:16It's someone kept us this, as a pet and it like learned how to
- 30:20open somebody's front door. And the caption was, this is why
- 30:22I live in places where the weather gets cold enough that it
- 30:25hurts my face. Yes, yes.
- 30:29No. Offense to the snakes I am here,
- 30:32too. Honor and respect their place on
- 30:35this planet. They do a lot of good.
- 30:36But I don't like look, they serve a purpose but I do, I
- 30:40actually think I have a phobia because I almost faint and vomit
- 30:44when I see them especially in person.
- 30:46Yeah, I can't even honestly, I can't even watch a video of
- 30:49them. They actually make me ill was
- 30:51interesting how like the movement of some creatures.
- 30:55Like to me spiders, sends me over the edge.
- 30:58I can't look at it's like some ingrained caveman.
- 31:00Yes, it's like the way it like stay.
- 31:03Way. Yes.
- 31:04So in the Autumn, I feel safe to go outside and like same in the
- 31:10winter. I'll, I'll walk through like a
- 31:12dense Grove of trees in the winter where I will not even get
- 31:15close to it in the summer because we also have really bad
- 31:19ticks here. So I yeah, yeah.
- 31:22I grew up in an area with bad. Yeah, they've gotten their bad
- 31:25really bad here in the last couple of years.
- 31:26You cannot even go on your yard without getting them on your
- 31:29pant leg. So yep, that's that's the
- 31:32colors. Sounds familiar.
- 31:34I don't trees look like, I don't know, it's just amazing out
- 31:39here. We have a lot of deciduous
- 31:41trees. So we're lucky that turn colors.
- 31:45Yes, beautiful. Beautiful shades.
- 31:47I can't, I can't agree more. I'm a winter, girl, but fall is
- 31:51second, very, very close. I mean, like, winter is you?
- 31:53And I are the same. Yeah, winter is Michael.
- 31:55I love walking in the snow. I have like a big Park.
- 31:58I love this. No, and yeah, if it's wetter
- 32:01weather, were there. Yes.
- 32:03Yeah, if I can have a sweater tee and a fire in the fireplace,
- 32:06that's my heaven on Earth. God that sounds so good right
- 32:10now. Okay.
- 32:12Are you ready for the next section?
- 32:13Because we're going to go quick. This is rapid fire.
- 32:15I can't wait. Yep, I'm so excited.
- 32:19All right, number one. What character would you marry
- 32:23or what? Who do, you have a crush on Star
- 32:26Wars? And marry Luke Skywalker.
- 32:29He is marrying material. Yes.
- 32:31And I have a crush on Obi, Wan hee.
- 32:32Is not marry material. I love him.
- 32:39Well, and I have to say, I would marry.
- 32:41Well, I wouldn't marry kissing and or but I would definitely
- 32:44have a crush on him. He's also damaged goods.
- 32:49They're all damaged and Star Wars just to varying degrees in
- 32:53the most like optimistic of the destroyed.
- 32:58He would be a good. He would be a good partner, a
- 33:01life partner. Yes.
- 33:03All right. Are you a Jedi or a Sith it
- 33:05Jedi. Which version of Obi-Wan do you
- 33:09like best prequels Clone Wars original trilogy?
- 33:11Or now we can add the Kenobi series to this always Clone
- 33:15Wars. I love just James Arnold Taylor,
- 33:18just fucking brilliant and that hair.
- 33:23Yes, he's those eyes. I'll never forget what a my
- 33:27sisters being like, why am I more attracted to the cartoon
- 33:29that I am to you and McGregor and I was like accurate, very
- 33:35accurate. Okay.
- 33:38All right. What's your fit?
- 33:39Next question is what's your favorite Obi Wan hair?
- 33:42Padawan BG mullet Clone Wars. Kenobi series.
- 33:47It's got to be the Clone Wars with the look little piece of
- 33:51hair. That moves the little piece of
- 33:53dangly hair. Exactly.
- 33:54What was that season 3 or something that that started up
- 33:57on? Yeah, well, any any time he gets
- 34:00punched in the face so that could be any season.
- 34:04It's all the time. All right, if you could wear one
- 34:09costume from all of Star Wars, all of Star Wars which would it
- 34:13be. Yeah, I know I wrote this
- 34:16questions but that's a hard one. I don't know how I'm going to
- 34:19answer any of these. I don't know, I don't know.
- 34:26Like, I have different kinds of answers.
- 34:28Like, I definitely love to be in a thai-style, a fighter outfit
- 34:32someday, like, put the big black helmet and everything.
- 34:35Yeah, but I also like, I love Jin's costume, she's a fucking
- 34:41better, I totally get that. But then I have another girly
- 34:44side. I'd love to fucking where want
- 34:45to sit teen has a specific down where she has like a headdress
- 34:49off to the side that she reminds me of David Bowie.
- 34:53She Where's it at? I will.
- 34:56I like that. It's not her usual outfit.
- 35:00It's like something she wears. When Padme comes to visit.
- 35:02So like I have a couple different ways I would go or
- 35:05Hoff Leia off. Leia is above and beyond
- 35:09anything, honestly, and even Cloud City, Leia fucking, oh
- 35:14God, Rob nose looks. I love how Carrie Fisher looks
- 35:17in those movies. Sorry.
- 35:20I know that's not rapid-fire. This is this is our show.
- 35:25We can do it as rapidly or as slowly as we want.
- 35:30All right? Original trilogy.
- 35:31Prequel trilogy sequel. Trilogy or animated show?
- 35:38I mean I grew up with the original trilogy.
- 35:40That's what made me. Love Star Wars with a passion,
- 35:45but Clone Wars is also like a huge deal for me.
- 35:48So it's kind of like a tie depends on what mood I'm in.
- 35:51If you could be any character in all of Star Wars, Who would it
- 35:57be? I don't even know how to answer
- 35:59this one. I think I do but it's really
- 36:01it's a lot harder it's harder than you think.
- 36:03If because you have to accept your fate.
- 36:06Yes. Like I really felt like Luke
- 36:11when I was a kid. I feel like it.
- 36:14Like if we take out the sequel Trilogy, Luke, Definitely Luke.
- 36:20But I also am very quiet god. Well, if you could be any
- 36:24character, not, if you were, yeah, you could be then Luke.
- 36:28Yeah. He's just got a great art could
- 36:31be. That's a good answer.
- 36:32Yeah. It's not C-3PO, so you're good.
- 36:38I would have to punch myself in the face.
- 36:40If I was actually it's the have to tell myself to shut up all
- 36:45the time. And finally what special powers
- 36:53would you want to have? Oh, I'd like to Jedi mind trick
- 36:56people. Yeah, just stop talking to me
- 37:01like, you know, doing the hand motion.
- 37:04Yeah. Do you kids like you like it?
- 37:05Not yulian. Stop talking me.
- 37:07Just like I know you like trick people to stop bothering me and
- 37:10send them away. That's it.
- 37:13There's a fair use of that, super power honest to God, I
- 37:16wouldn't hurt anybody with it. I just want my peace and quiet,
- 37:21like people always come up and talk to me in public, like they,
- 37:24I like, I was standing in line to pay.
- 37:27My water bill. Once in Flagstaff Arizona and
- 37:30the woman in front of me turned around and literally just
- 37:33started launching into her life story.
- 37:36And I would have loved to Jedi mind trick my way out.
- 37:42I feel you and that is it. That is fun, get to know, Lauren
- 37:5140 minutes of getting to know Lauren your host of most things
- 37:55Kenobi. Did I pick some good question?
- 37:57You did. I love I knew we were going to
- 37:59have some overlap. How funny is that?
- 38:01That we have? I know, right ones.
- 38:08Alright, our question for you, is what is your question for
- 38:12Lauren? If you could ask her one thing
- 38:14to get to know her, you know, within reason here, what would
- 38:18you ask her? She has agreed to pick one,
- 38:21possibly two questions of yours and answer on social media in
- 38:24some format and some media format.
- 38:26Yeah. But answer, you know, chime in
- 38:28on our Twitter and Instagram for sure, and let us know what your
- 38:32question is. For Lauren, and she will choose
- 38:34at least one to two respond. To preserve the right to refuse
- 38:39to answer anything. I don't want to now, I'm
- 38:45excited. It's gonna be fun.
- 38:46Are our listeners, always come up.

- 39:02interviewed Lee and I'm really excited.
- 39:04We did have some overlapping questions.
- 39:06So should I still ask you those or do you want me to come up
- 39:08with show a okay I will definitely Forget by the time
- 39:11you asked me look. So you know, problem will do the
- 39:15same format where I interview her and I'm really excited.
- 39:19It's been fun coming up with the questions for this so I think it
- 39:21should be a good time. Yeah I'm ready.
